TUMBLR 101: a helpful guide for tiktok refugees
are YOU a former tiktok user trying to learn how to use tumblr to fill the void the american tiktok ban is leaving in your soul? here are some things you should know, from someone who’s going on their eighth year on this hellsite:
1. you can say anything on here. gone are the days of having to use words like “unalive” and “seggs.” murder! kill! sex! fuck! speak your mind!
2. there is a community for you on here. regardless of what you’re into or however small the fandom is, you have a place here. at least one other person will have heard of your weird obscure interest. strike up a conversation!
3. followers don’t matter. tumblr is one of the last remaining social media sites in which your number of followers means absolute jack shit. this can be disorienting at first, but once you lean into the fact that everyone on this website is equal, it’s very freeing. clout means nothing here.
4. similarly, you can post at any time. while tiktok has an algorithm that favors certain times, tumblr has no such algorithm. post whatever you want, whenever you want. every post has virtually the same chance at getting notes, regardless of when it is posted.
5. tags can have spaces between the words! this one is very exciting. tags can be a whole sentence. you can also use the tags to comment on someone’s post without actually adding onto the physical post itself (which is sometimes frowned upon and called “derailing” if you use this feature to bring up a completely different point other than the one that’s being made on the original post).
TL;DR: speak your mind, find your place, followers don’t matter, post anytime, have fun with tags!! tumblr is a wonderful site used to share things you’re excited about. be patient with yourself as you’re learning and have fun!

This is exactly why I LOVE this game. The amount of stuff I’m learning about history, religion, geography and so on, about countries from all over the world, is mind blowing. (And being doing Asian studies in college, when I find in-game sth I’ve studied irl is even more satisfying xD)
Like, the amount of thought and effort and research MHY puts into designing the characters, their backstories and their relationships with other characters (whether you see them as ships or not) is truly amazing. Nothing is put there by chance.
And on a lighter note, this links and theories (about Kavetham but also many other ships) aren’t just coincidences or fanmade stuff imo. Maybe this is MHY’s way of trying and get around censorship and feeding us =^-^=
I might need Genshin infodump mutuals hahah
@kujousaramybeloved thanks for sharing this analysis btw T^T
something i found out about this morning that i thought was kinda interesting, regarding alhaitham’s constellation being vultur volans and kaveh’s ascension regional specialty being the mourning flower
so obviously the main inspiration behind the mourning flower is the kaiser’s crown aka fritillaria imperialis, bearing a striking resemblance both in its appearance and its meaning in iranian culture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i want to put a pin in that. we know that vultur volans is the roman empire’s name for aquila, and that aquila is made up of both the eagle and antinous. (side note: antinous became a symbol of male homosexuality, so this can also go on the extensive list of kaveh and alhaitham’s queercoding in canon)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i was reading about the deification of antinous after his accidental death which was possibly a drowning, and also came across a quote from kaveh’s hangout, which i thought was really interesting in light of alhaitham’s constellation’s connection with antinous.
Tumblr media
that’s kind of besides the point but i thought it was interesting regardless—this theme of losing a lover to drowning, whether that be physical or metaphorical. anyways what i also found to be super interesting was the other main thing emperor hadrian named after antinous—a rosy lotus.
Tumblr media
now i’m totally willing to accept the kaiser’s crown as the only inspiration behind the mourning flower, but i *do* find it interesting that the kaiser’s crown’s main habitat is foothills/mountainous areas, whereas the mourning flower pretty much exclusively appears on the banks of rivers/bodies of water in the girdle of the sands region, which sounds a lot more like the habitat of the flower of antinous.
i would think i’m reaching if it wasn’t for the fact that genshin can (and does) get this detailed, even with the whole plato and socrates school of athens painting parallel that kaveh and alhaitham *also* have going on.
so yeah, this connection of alhaitham to antinous and antinous to this flower kinda lead me to believe that this was another aspect of the design/meaning of the mourning flower, especially its reason for being the material used to ascend kaveh. what do you guys think??

After listening to the album for hours I just realized how cleverly the songs are ordered.
The album starts with Ready To Go, a song about pushing forward no matter the obstacles, followed by Cha Cha Cha, the song that got him to where he is now (which "coincidentally" is the second track, matching Jere's final ESC ranking). Right after that is Takavoltti, which talks about how, now that Jere's famous, everyone constantly asks him to do things—Jere do this, Jere do that—and he complies because he wants to make others smile, even though it can hurt him. And this pain transitions smoothly into Ruoska, a song that literally talks about how the pain, both of being controlled by what people expect of him and the hate he receives, excites him in some way.
Then we get into a more intense section. Kot Kot expresses his anxiety, loneliness, and the feeling of no one responding to him. This theme continues in Autiomaa, where he describes feeling empty despite everything he's achieved and struggling to be taken seriously as an artist. This feeling also comes through in the skit with the therapist, who interrupts Jere, downplays his concerns and treats him like he's just a celebrity who should "get a real job" instead of a person.
And maybe the next song marks one of the album's sharpest turns. As a single, Sex = Money could be seen as Jere selling sex out of desperation, not knowing what else to do, but when paired with the meaning behind Autiomaa it also reflects a bit of that hopelessness of being lost but still wanting to keep going, and so he turns to selling sex.
From there, we have some more upbeat tracks. Bananas talks about people going wild (going bananas) for him now that he's resurfaced, and the energy continues with Huhhahhei and It's Crazy, It's Party.
Finally, we have the perfect song to close the album, People's Champion. Here Jere finally acknowledges himself as a winner, a champion, more specifically, the people's champion. He reflects on his growth and evolution as an artist, from that scared kid to this man who isn't afraid of anything and who will keep standing strong no matter what. And of course, the lyrics "Thank you everybody I love you" as the cherry on top, a thanks to all his fans for everything they've given him and for helping him get to where he is today.
I'm so impressed by the story this album tells, and Jere has done an amazing job with it. I love him and everything he's achieved and I hope he can feel our love just as much as we feel his.

We keep talking about media literacy, but it's actually something very difficult to put into practice in this very overcrowded F1 media ecosystem, especially for new fans. I thought it would be a good idea to put together a list of reliable sources to hopefully make this year's silly season easier to navigate.
Publications
Auto Motor und Sport (more commonly known as AMuS) - the German publication is arguably considered as the most reliable source for F1 news. Most other publications will very often quote AMuS as source.
Speedcafe.com - Australia's foremost motorsport website. Mat Coch, their F1 editor, has access to Daniel's management and was one of the first people to seek clarification from Daniel's team when the rumour that he would be replaced by Miami first cropped up.
Other reliable publications: Autosport, Motorsport, PlanetF1 (caution to be advised with PlanetF1 because very often, it just quotes sources like AMuS or tends to have a lot of clickbait articles), BBC F1.
Journalists
Chris Medland - Chris is a freelance journalist with permanent FIA accreditation. He usually writes for RACER.COM. In my opinion, he is the most reliable from the whole cohort of journalists on twitter. He may not always be the one to break a story, but if he tweets out about a rumour or story, this is pretty much confirmation that the rumour or story is true.
Nate Saunders - Nate writes for ESPN F1 and is generally considered to be the Ricciardo camp mouthpiece. However, this does not necessarily mean he is, at all times, privy to insider information from Daniel's camp. Look out for him quoting 'sources close to ...'
Thomas Maher - Thomas writes for PlanetF1 and while PlanetF1 is not the most reliable of publications, I think Thomas is a good source to follow on twitter as he is pretty good at reaching out to his sources in the paddock when it comes to seeking clarification on a rumour.
Erik Van Haren - the Dutch journalist writes for the Telegraaf. He has the reputation of being close to the Max & Jos Verstappen camp and was the first one to break the Christian Horner SH story. Therefore, anything he writes about Max or Red Bull can be more or less be relied upon.
Albert Fabrega - he is a longstanding reporter with great technical expertise and is considered as the go-to source for the Spanish/ Spanish-speaking drivers, especially Alonso. Though, caution to be exercised after the whole 'I cannot believe what I have just been told' thing he pulled last year.
Lawrence Barretto - Lawrence is a presenter for F1. He is one of my favourites in the paddock and from time to time, he will have some insider information when it comes to Daniel. He was the first one to report on Daniel's best lap at the Silverstone being good enough for the front row.
F1 Pundits
There is a whole host of characters who act as commentators or guests across a variety of international broadcasts over a race weekend (or some of them just hang around the paddock). Think Martin Brundle, Crofty, Karun Chandhok, Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve, David Coulthard, Eddie Jordan, Ralf Schumacher ...
Their opinions are invariably given a lot of weight by virtue of most of them being former drivers or World Champions, but fact remains that many of them have no insight into what's actually happening within a team. However, that being said, a few of them still have close relationships with some of the teams, for e.g., David Coulthard with Red Bull or Mika Hakkinen with McLaren and whatever they say about these teams could potentially be relied upon.
Caution ⚠️
Joe Saward - Joe is rather notoriously known for his Green Notebook column on his blog. The column is supposedly meant to provide titillating insider information about F1, but it more often ends up being a regurgitation of the rumours that have been floating around that week. He has more misses than hits when it comes to rumours and anything he says needs to be taken with a generous dose of skepticism.
Will Buxton - if you see Will tweet something out, please lock your phone and walk away. This is not to say Will doesn't know what's happening in the sport - after all, he was the first one to give any indication of the Lewis to Ferrari story, but he is too committed to playing the game of shit-stirrer for engagement. The unfortunate thing is, we're all too human and we all invariably for his game and we end up going into a downward spiral of 'what does he mean???' when he tweets something out...

Adler & Sims Analysis - Part 1
A random thought i had at 4am
Sims has a skin called ‘Penumbra’ whereas Adler has a skin called ‘Umbra’.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If we look at the actual dictionary definitions for the words with a quick google search…
Umbra:
the fully shaded inner region of a shadow cast by an opaque object, especially the area on the earth or moon experiencing the total phase of an eclipse.
Astronomy: the dark central part of a sunspot.
Literary: shadow or darkness.
Penumbra:
The partially shaded outer region of the shadow cast by an opaque object.
A peripheral or indeterminate area or group.
Easier to explain with this image:
Tumblr media
This makes sense if we look at both characters. Adler, "America's Monster", is essentially consumed by the darkness of his job. Has no desire to quit as Woods says in BO6, "Quit isn't in Adler's vocabulary."
Sims however, is the penumbra, the lighter shade. We see this all the time. In Cold War, Sims wasn't entirely on board with idea of the brainwashing. We can recall him questioning his close friend -> "Damn. Through the eye socket. You sure about this, Doc?" He knows it's wrong. Adler on the other hand is so obsessed with finding Perseus and purging evil that he essentially becomes the evil himself.
It's known that Sims and Adler have been working together a long time. Adler has called Sims soft on not one but two occasions.
-> "Don't get soft like Sims." - Adler to Bell before Fracture Jaw "recall"
-> "Getting soft in your old age, huh, Sims?" - Adler to Sims after apprehending Gusev
In Sims' bio in Cold War, it's mentioned that he's always been in the shadow of Adler. The peripheral (see def 2) . Never the one with the "spotlight".
Kind of weird how our eyes are automatically drawn to the umbra in the picture, the one with deepest, darkest shade. Just how Adler always gets the recognition because he's the one doing the dirtiest and most dangerous work without a second thought. I mean Hudson himself mentions it during a safehouse interaction.
-> "Strategically speaking, this borders on insanity. Which is precisely the type of work we rely on Adler for." - Hudson to Bell before the Lubyanka infiltration.

i'm sick w the flu (and have had a terrible day at work) so take some cringe self indulgent adler x sick!reader s/o headcanons
straightforward and practical. i really don't think adler would initially be the type to coddle or baby you- just very to the point, sternly telling you to drink water and take some meds and painkillers. but he'd make it so much easier for you; he keeps your water bottle filled by the side of the bed, he'll always make sure you've got painkillers in your drawer- he won't dare make a point of it (can't have you knowing he's too sweet on you) but he pops a couple pills out of the packet and puts them at the bedside next to your bottle so you absolutely won't forget. offers to make you hot tea under the guise that i'm makin' myself some coffee, so i might as well. not that he cares, of course. just happenstance.
but i think longer into a relationship with him and he'll let his softer side show. runs you a bath the second he gets home and hears you sniffling, never mind if he needs a shower or not; makes you honey and lemon tea and passes it off as some old army trick he knows and not just common knowledge, because he wants so badly to be the reason you are well taken care of, that only he could look after you like this. washes your hair and gives you deep, slow massages, 'cause it's important for the muscles, obviously, or whatever impartial excuse he gives, not because he's worried about you aching all over or anything. swaddles you in blankets and cuddles you up under his arm on the couch while he puts on an old movie, every so often accidentally brushing a hand over your temple to check for fever.
he doesn't care if you protest that he ought to keep his distance in case he catches whatever you've got- because he won't. or so he insists.

Another PSA, you do not have to be human to deserve basic respect.
I think some of us who identify as non-human in any form forget this sometimes, even myself.
You don’t have to be or feel human to be deserving of
- care
-sympathy
- a good life
- basic necessities
- love
- dignity
- people/things that care about you
- the ability to be yourself
- happiness

You know what, I'm feeling positive today, so I'm going to put that forward into this post.
I love you trans men. I love you trans mascs. I love you demiboys. I love you genderfauns. I love you trans women. I love you trans fems. I love you demigirls. I love you genderfaes. I love you nonbinary people. I love you agender people. I love you xenogendered people. I love you genderfluid people. I love you bigender people. I love you pangender people. I love you genderqueer people. I love you closeted trans people. I love you out trans people. I love you stealth trans people. I love you questioning trans people. I love you curvy trans people. I love you fat trans people. I love you thin trans people. I love you lean trans people. I love you neurodivergent trans people. I love you disabled trans people. I love you tall trans people. I love you short trans people. I love those of you who struggle with dysphoria. I love those of you who don't or no longer struggle with dysphoria. I love those of you without access to HRT. I love those of you with access to HRT. I love those of you who don't want HRT. I love those of you who want HRT. I love those of you who want gender-affirming surgery. I love those of you who don't want typical gender-affirming surgeries. I love you trans people with supportive family and friends. I love you trans people with unsupportive family and friends. I love you gender-nonconforming trans people. I love you feminine transmascs and transmen. I love you masculine trans men and transmascs. I love you masculine transfems and trans women. I love you feminine transfems and trans women. I love you transmasc drag queens. I love you transfem drag kings.
Every single one of you matter to me, if not from the queer or trans perspective, than from a human one. All of you are important. All of you matter. All of you are valid, and all of you are loved. Keep being the awesome people you are, and don't let other people get in the way of letting you be yourself. Even if you're in a situation where being completely out isn't an option, or nobody else is able to know for safety reasons, know that I am here and I respect and value your internal feelings and identity. If you ever need someone to talk to, someone to be a listening ear, just know that I'm always a DM away. If you want to try out a new set of pronouns for yourself, I will happily help you explore that form of self-expression. I love you all. Stay safe, stay happy, and stay yourself 💛

I hate it when I headcanon a character who’s canonically a girl as a trans man and make ships of him and a character who’s canonically a guy and I refer to it as a gay/mlm/guyxguy/whatever ship and someone gets mad. Like omg let trans people have FUNNNNN. Why are queer headcanons and genderbends cool until they’re saying that the character is trans???
“OMGGG you’re so misogynistic I can’t believe you would erase FEMALE representation!!!”
and like half of the characters in the franchise are women, and a total of… NONE of the characters are trans men. Also, my headcanon doesn’t change the source material. If my stuff upsets you, you can block me and go engage with the source or maybe every single other fanwork, since mine is the only trans man hc for this character that I’ve ever seen.
or when people are like “WTF??? this is so transphobic!!! how dare you imply that a character who looks like that could be a trans man?!?! do you think that trans men are women or something??? she uses she/her, and you’re misgendering her!”
No, I don’t think that being a trans man makes you a woman or vice versa. That’s why it’s a headcanon, and the headcanon is that this character is actually a trans man and not a woman at all! You’ll never guess what pronouns most trans men had to use at some point in their lives, and you really won’t like it when you find out about pre-(or no-)transition trans men… or trans men who are in the closet… or trans men who don’t know that they’re trans yet.
“But the character is a kid!!! Saying they’re trans is sexualizing them.”
I’ve seen this one from other queer people. Like did you miss when all of the homophobes said this about your identity, or do you think that bigotry is only bad when it’s directed at you?
“Why would you say ‘testosterone could fix her’??? Are you trying to call her a delusional woman?”
Why would your brain even go to that first? This literally has to be a bad faith reading, because there’s no way that someone could see what I said and get this unless they were specifically looking for something to be mad at me for.
(Note for anyone unaware: “Estrogen would’ve fixed him!” was a meme going around at the time I said this. I’m not sure if it’s still super big, but this was a joke to the effect of that.)
“So girls can’t be tomboys anymore? You just wanna trans everyone?”
This is like actual real life transphobic rhetoric. This isn’t even just shitting on my headcanon, but in fact, sending transphobic hate to a trans man. Thanks 👍. Maybe you should go send JK Rowling another message about how much you loved her essay instead of bothering me.
#transgender#trans#trans man#transandrophobia#<- not all of it but the ‘it’s misogynystic to be a trans man!!!’ part is. esp because it’s something that people say about real trans men#is this inspired by a Tik tok about how making male characters women is empowering and making female characters men is misogyny?#(although that post was weirdly about genderbending gay ships? idk why that’s discourse going around 😭😭😭. I miss old fandom sometimes.)#not exactly. although the comments on it sucked. I’ve seen multiple variations of posts like that and all of their comment sections made me#feel like I was wading through raw sewage with how full of shit the commenters were.#I saw one violently threatening anyone who portrays a canon girl as a man (in stupid Tik Tok speak)#oh Feng Min… oh Hilda Pokémon… oh Y PokéSpe… you’re all beautiful young men to me#nonbinary hcs also get you that last one super hard#I haven’t seen as much of this about hcing canon guys as trans girls other than posts where op says ‘name a girl character who (blank)!’-#and then makes an addition that you’re an evil misogynist if you said a MALE!!! (even though Brock Pokémon is a transbian to me </3)#which icks me out so bad. omfg. like she’s a girl to ME!!! so maybe that’s why I’m naming her under a post about GIRLS!!!#I imagine that most of the reason for not hearing much about it is because these types of headcanons just… really aren’t common#so if you have a bunch of experience with headcanoning characters who are canonically men as trans girls and the hate that it gets you then#feel free to add on (and also please talk to me about your headcanons… there are so few of us. we need to stick together!!!)#it’s not derailing despite this post specifically being tagged about trans men#that’s just bc that’s all that I talk about in my original post#this post has been in my drafts in different forms for probably like months#long post#I guess#anyone remember a while back when someone on this app got violently mad that someone put a character (canonically a guy) in the m/m tags on#ao3 bc the guy was hced as trans in the fic#and the post was like ‘grrr the ao3 gender ship things are talking about GENITALS!!! not gender!!! I’m not transphobic though <3.’#so now to imagine what it’s like to hc a character who’s canonically a girl as a trans man just imagine that but it’s worse and also you’re#getting it from other trans people too 👍

I think it’s really cute that a lot of the qsmp members’ friends have also gotten attached to the eggs
Some of the eggs have off the server family they got to meet over call (Skeppy meeting Dapper and Tommy meeting Tallulah)
Gumi calling Bad asking him to tell Dapper she says hi and Sam resubbing to Bad asking the same (also threatening to never resub if Bad didn’t lol)
Tina always hearing about Foolish and Leo’s adventures on the qsmp that day when she and Foolish play Valorant and Moo (Foolish’s IRL sister) calling herself Leo’s aunt
Idk it’s just kinda sweet, something about these eggs just makes people attached

Thinking about the Branwen Twins and the Branwen Tribe.
About Raven and Qrow growing up as bandits, in a Tribe run by their parents, outside the Kingdoms. About expectations and roles and relations.
About Qrow always being uncomfortable with it, always wishing he could do more with his life, that he could help people instead of hurt them. And about Raven, knowing her brother is ‘weak’ but covering for him anyway because nobody has her back like her twin.
About Raven being the star, the prodigy, and Qrow being bad luck and second best, but they both see each other better than anyone else in the Tribe can. She knows how strong he is, and he knows that she isn’t always as strong as she seems.
About Qrow wanting to leave, but knowing he can’t leave without Raven. Because she’s his twin and he loves her. Because with her semblance she could just bring him right back.
About their being sent to Beacon. Raven seeing it as a way to protect her people, Qrow seeing it as an escape. They both want the other to follow the same path as them.
Raven thinks Qrow will come back with her, she’ll inherit the Leadership position, he’ll be her second in command. Qrow thinks she’ll stay a Huntress with the rest of team STRQ and put their past behind them.
About Raven wanting to go back, and Qrow revealing that he never will.
About Raven regretting ever telling their parents that Qrow was strong enough and loyal enough for this mission to Beacon when they doubted him, because she doesn’t want to lose her brother.
About Raven staying, because she’s sure she can convince Qrow, and maybe even Summer and Tai too. They can all go home back to the Tribe and rule it together, away from the Kingdoms and Ozpin and everything. She tries to ignore that she’s never seen Qrow this happy before.
About the day they both realise their paths have diverged completely.

A collection of Fell art I don't think I've ever posted before. This is all art I've made in the last year, those first pics being done in January/February-ish? It's been fun to see how much my art has developed since then :)
So, something I'm sure I've mentioned before, I have RSD- or rejection sensitive dysphoria. For the last decade or so, it's controlled a large portion of my life and has dictated a lot of what I've been able to do. It used to be a lot worse- like, eating-lunch-alone-in-the-bathroom-everyday-at-school-because-I'd-have-a-panic-attack-if-I-tried-to-go-into-the-cafeteria type of bad. Or, having-a-panic-attack-because-a-girl-complimented-my-socks-and-I-was-CERTAIN-she-was-actually-implying-I-was-a-stupid-idiot-loser-baby type of bad. It's made it really hard to make friends and maintain relationships, because a part of my brain truly believes the people around me don't want me there, or that it's better for me to be quiet and out of the way than to risk doing something "wrong" and drawing the ire of everyone around me.
It was something that I was really ashamed of for the longest time. I didn't understand what I was feeling or why I acted the way that I did, I just wanted everyone around me to be happy and I felt like I was doing everything wrong and making everything worse just by being present in any given situation.
So- what ended up working for me? How did I start moving forward?
Years of counseling and therapy? Yeah. Medication? That too.
But do you want to know what really ended up changing my life this year?
I made a character to conceptualize and encapsulate all of my anxieties and traumas, took my condition, and made it her superpower.
Some bits about her character:
In a ⋆˙⟡dramatic⋆˙⟡ and ⋆˙⟡tragic⋆˙⟡ childhood event, Fell's heart was fused with a star.
It sounds like a magical-girl dream- but for Fell, it's only ever been a curse.
Whenever her emotions flare, she has an uncontrollable surge of magic. Sometimes, that wild magic can scare or even hurt the people around her. She's become terrified of her own emotions- and that fear only exacerbate her "curse".
So, she isolates herself- not out of a fear of others, but out of a fear of hurting those around her.
When I was a kid, there weren't really any characters out there that I felt like I could truly identify with. Sure, I've seen social anxiety addressed in media throughout my life, but nothing that I felt really captured the full complexities of what I was experiencing in my day-to-day. Plus, I feel like those characters rarely got to be the heroes of the story.
So, all that to say, Fell is the hero that I wish I had gotten to have as a kid.
Starlight Saga (working title), or Legends of ZahKol, is the story and world that I built around the lessons I've learned in my journey of overcoming my anxiety and RSD. I can't give that to my past self, but my dream is to one day share it with the world- for other people out there like me, to help them and give them hope and let them know how strong they really are for fighting day in and day out. That these parts of yourself don't mean you're broken or damaged or wrong- these are tied to the most resilient, most beautiful parts of who you are.
