Went to my favorite bog yesterday but oh no! There was actually enough water there to warrant boots (last time I visited it was just a bit muddy). Good news, I brought my boots, bad news, I ripped a hole in my boots while I was on an island. I did get to finally do something on my wishlist: actually touch a blooming western swamp laurel (my beloved).
Left to right: swamp laurel x2, wild cranberry, big Labrador tea, two baby slugs, tufted loosestrife (new plant for me), northern white violet (also new!), Corona cups maybe, chrome spagnum

I've been having thoughts, since the time Impulse appeared in RnS a couple chapters ago; and now after your "Tango in hels" piece they're getting stronger.
Your Tango's a smart, determined little fella, even when he's being difficult and not at his best. He doesn't know what "self-care" means, and can be kinda selfish in his social behavior (otherwise Tanguish wouldn't be there), but he can and will do things for his friends when he has a specific goal in mind.
So, if someone tells him "Go talk to your friends, it will help you feel better"? Not happening, and rare attempts aren't paying off the effort.
But if someone went "Hey, you know your friend Impulse's helsmet is getting stronger. His helsmet's name? The Demon. You know, the one who's been a huge scary pain in the ass for Tanguish. So maybe if you went to Impulse and tried to help with whatever his struggles, two of your friends would have less mortal danger looming overhead"?
Might work, maybe? Both in the stated way and in Tango getting out of his mind way? Could have an unintended side effect of Tanguish getting whacked with weakening if he hasn't sanctificated hard enough (which is. 50/50 with how recent chapters went?) but overall net positive, I guess? And it's kind of in line with Tanguish's manipulative streak?
Not saying this is something that Will happen, but. Sounds like something that theoretically could, I thing?

Headcanon I'm mildly scared is ooc of the day: Tsukasa's scared of the dark.
He's had this fear since he was a child, but it stayed with him as he had years of waking up in the middle of the night to Saki sobbing in pain, or his family having disappeared to get her in the hospital, alongside spending many nights alone when they stayed with her overnight. He'd never admit it, not even to itself, but being alone at night always unnerves him in a way

I’d like to piggyback off of this post for a moment. I don't want to reblog it because it and the the replies are focused on the Architects. Which is cool and all, I remember being intrigued at a linked sentient species like that.
But I want to talk about the kharaa's involvement in the Degasi subplot in the base game.
They already didn't get along. Well, at least Paul and Maida didn't. Bart was just kind of there as a timid boy overshadowed by his father's presence. Maida was loyal to Paul since he was the one paying her. She was likely used to a rough life whereas he was the sort of man who had wanted for nothing in a long time.
but when the infection sets in. It starts with being itchy. But one of the symptoms is aggression. And we can hear the progression. Bart starts to stand up to his father. Paul and Maida really start clashing.
( and one could argue that she was the one to get them killed. Or at least Paul. When she drags back a leviathan. The recording makes it sound like a ghost which would make sense for the biome because there is a ghost leviathan in the vicinity. But she has a reaper skull in her base in SubZero? )

Thalassophobia
The world we live in is a beauty of color and a wonder of life. Across it, more water than land, millions of creatures across its surface. But 10x more in water than on land. 10x more life in a place we can't breathe.
Wide expanses of water. The deep blue of the sea almost as deep as the blue of the sky. Stretching so far your eyes couldn't find anything but space. In one lives the type of creature half your size with soft feathers, and in the other lives things 4x the size of the busses you travel in.
A Blue so deep it blocks almost all sunlight. A blue so deep we haven't discovered 80% of it. A blue so deep something with millions of teeth could be swimming blow you and yourself never know.
A blue where you can hardly move and everything in it is faster than you. You're still, appreciating the blue all around you when a massive shape breaks through the darkness below you with little effort. Eyes half the size of your body and bigger teeth. Many can't eat you, but many more can, and you couldn't fight back because the thick water you can't breath inhibits your movement.
The water that can kill you hundreds of ways. The water you need to survive but can't drink. The salt in your eyes and your lungs, as massive things pass you, and you have no wall to press backa against. No way to know what's where because their eyes are accustomed to the depths, and yours aren't. Some part of you holding out for so long you know you'd never survive.
Fish and fathoms.
A fear of heights but you fall slower on air you can't breathe while things that can eat you surround you at every direction.
HOW ARE YOU PEOPLE NOT SCARED OF THE OCEAN??!??!?!?

I think I’ve made myself very clear. No one’s coming forward to stop me. Some of you cared. None of you cared enough. And neither did I. And I’m sorry.

Being a fish in a tank must be crazy,
They see incomprehensibly large creatures, like larger than the size of their world, and control their environment, giving them food, controlling the temperature, and adding and removing landmarks
Like imagine looking into space and just seeing like a buncha Cthulhus that did that?
One day we randomly lose the pyramids of Giza, and have like a giant garden of Arctic plants that just shouldn’t ecologically survive there, just APPEAR (giant beings redecorated the tank)
Having enough food for everyone just falling from the sky (wait that’s just cloudy with a chance of meat balls)
What if we suddenly had 17 degree (Fahrenheit) weather in the middle of summer surrounded by swelteringly hot weather (giant beings forgor to work the temperature machine)
Giant creature seemingly blocked by an invisible barrier making weird expressions and spouting archaic languages that we cannot understand (lil kid looking through the tank glass, speaking gibberish, and blowing raspberries at the tank)
That would be CRAZY
