His parents - mother with her inherent Spaulding connections and power, diplomat father adding to the level of expectation and quintessential all American dreams - already had a daughter and a son in school by the time Asher arrived. Even if things had been more normal, he might still have been an outlier, the extra standing in the background of the performance his family wanted to put on.  Except things weren’t normal. They hadn’t been to start with, and when he turned sixteen, they became much less so. Told from the moment he could listen that he was adopted, not his parents biological child, he’d often questioned their choice to take him on. And on his sixteenth birthday, he was informed of exactly why. As it turned out, he hadn’t been adopted at all. He was his mother’s biological child - the product of an affair between her and another man, one his parents had tried their best to cover up in public, hence the lie. And making matters somehow worse, he realised the rest of the extended family were aware of the cover up, aware of his identity. It felt like his entire life had been a joke which everyone was in on but him.  In a way, though, the revelation gave Asher the freedom he had slowly been desiring as he aged. He’d never fit into the world his family inhabited, and now, he had his reasoning for why - and his way out. He began to use his mother’s maiden name instead, unable to tolerate using her husband’s when he knew now he had a biological connection with her that had been hidden for so long. Despite the expectations placed on him to follow an approved career path - a lawyer, politician, a doctor - Asher chose to attend art school, thriving under the guilt felt by his parents for the lies they had kept by using it to get exactly what he wanted. Spending his early twenties living the life of a struggling artist in LA, picking up odd jobs and with the occasional phone call to mommy and daddy for extra cash, he gradually fell into worse and worse habits, the money going less on art supplies and more and more toward illicit substances. He was surrounded by “friends” who didn’t have his best interests at heart and only encouraged him, and before long, he had sunk into a hole he couldn’t quite climb out of by himself. But it seemed his life was starting to follow a pattern of sudden changes. A hiking trip - really just an excuse to get high away from the confines of everyday life - provided the precursor to a chain of events which would permanently alter the course he had thought he was going to follow. Swimming alone late at night in a lake a little away from the path, he felt himself pulled underwater and thought that was the end, in a way finding a sense of peace in it. Until he woke up, in the company of a strange woman, with no idea what had happened and no memory of how he had got there. All was explained, in time, and although he mourned his human existence he was able to come to terms with this new version of himself. It was, in a way, the detox he had needed - living as a siren with the one who had changed him enabled him to finally kick the habits that had plagued him, becoming a version of his past self, the one who had had less worries, more hope. But Asher had always been social, craving the company of others. It wasn’t enough for him to live away from the world, with just one other person. He needed to leave. He’d been in sporadic contact with his cousins over the years, enough to know that Thaddeus and Ophelia had settled in Opulence, and so he too chose to make the move - hoping it would be the right thing to finally end the chaos of his life path.

Hello~ Eben habe ich wieder ein bisschen der good luck overview gestöbert und mir sind die alten Götter aufgefallen. I know, i know offiziell noch eine Baustelle aber dennoch richtig spannend! 🤩 Hast du bestimmte Kriterien nach denen du ihre fcs aussuchst?

... aber jetzt wo es geschehen ist, beantworte ich doch gerne fragen :3

außer bei einigen wenigen, habe ich eigentlich keine festen vorstellungen für die götter. chione habe ich immer mit roten haaren im kopf (da hatte ich zuerst ein brasilianisches fc, fand das mit dem schnee aber zu widersprüchlich und denke, vielleicht passt ein skandinavisches besser?) und apollo und artemis sind bei mir meist black oder mixed black). ansonsten habe ich favorits rausgesucht und dann nach gefühl zugeordnet bzw. muss ich die meisten noch zu ordnen ich bin am strugglen. persephone stell ich mir immer irgendwie äußerlich cute vor und für poseidon hätte ich gerne ein native fc mit langen haaren, ich hatte erst booboo stewart, aber ich denke ein fc von einem meernahen native stamm (evtl. aus australien) würde mehr sinn machen, aber da bin ich noch am suchen...

weiter habe ich die ganze zeit angst irgendetwas falsch zu machen und versuche drauf zu achten das man die auswahl nicht falsch interpretieren kann bzw. kein fc/keine ethnie negativ zu behaften?? :') (bei ares hab/hatte ich zum beispiel struggle einen POC character zu nehmen, weil ich keine ethnie so obvious mit krieg verbinden wollte uiudhodahs vielleicht mach ich mir da aber auch unnötig gedanken?)

*da ich erfahren habe, dass hephaistos im canon eine beinverletzung hat und oft im rollstuhl dargestellt wird, will ich da vielleicht nochmal wen anderes suchen, auch wenn ich mit misia butler da eigentlich sehr zufrieden bin, aber falls euch spontan fcs mit gehbehinderung einfallen, tell me please

Ah see so. Only one of my stories on this blog has any semblance of FCs and that’s the celebrity one because I only have vague ideas for most characters other appearances (especially this one because since I was younger when I started it, I honestly pictured myself as Elias the most) but!!
