TLC Headcanon regarding Bree’s nearest ancestors in Vera’s line:
(AKA a theory I’ve had kicking around for awhile but have been fleshing out lately as I continue to work on SWMF.)
We’ve heard from Patricia that there are rootcraft Prophets & since we know Ms. Tracy never just puts details in for no reason at all, I think we’ve “met” one already in the books— Bree’s grandmother Leanne Charles.
I’ll explain: Leanne’s mother Jessie was the one who moved around a lot. In bloodwalks Bree sees her encounter the Hunter in Lafayette, LA, New York, & then somehow her daughter ends up in Texas (I think it’s most probable that Jessie moved them there to try to outrun the Hunter, but there’s no textual evidence of this.)
We know that Leanne was a hairstylist, died of cancer when Faye was 18, & had a different last name than her daughter’s birth surname. So from these facts I have inferred:
1. Like Bree, her rootcraft power of foresight was tied to the bloodcraft because her life’s work within the line of Vera was to get her daughter to UNC. She didn’t need to ask the ancestors to gain knowledge about someone’s future; it just came to her, usually while she had her hands in someone’s hair at work. She basically lived with her body partially in the ancestral streams, which is likely why she is the “signpost” ancestor who Bree encounters first when she taps into her Mediumship in LB.
2. She didn’t tell Faye she was sick because she knew how important it was for her daughter to go to & stay at UNC. She also didn’t seek treatment for her cancer because she knew that Faye would need access to the red root to fight with at some point very soon, & she didn’t want to be the reason her own daughter couldn’t protect herself against the Shadowborn. 😭
3. Faye’s father either died when she was young or Leanne never married him. She married her husband (Mr. Charles) when Faye was ten or so. Faye liked him okay, but he was kind of absent even when they lived in the same house & he faded into the distance after her mom’s death. Her mom really was her only support system in Texas despite Leanne having lots of friends from church & the salon. Many of these people reach out to Faye and try to be there for her after her mom’s death but she doesn’t accept help as her trauma response.
(I’m sorry that these hc are sad but I’m not sure how they could not be lol.)
Anyway let me know what you think or if you have a different idea about who Leanne was in life!

Okay okay!!!! Point by point because organization & I’ve only had one cup of coffee so far lol:
Yeah there’s no way we’re gonna get new characters that are as important to babygirl as Nick & Sel already are. They aren’t her Squire & Kingsmage by Oath, but also they both have proven to transcend the power of Oaths & even the power of the pull their bloodlines have on them (as in: it may have been the Lancelot/Arthur connection that sparked the beginning of the Nick/Bree relationship but their actions in the Camelot dreamscape at the end of BM have driven this deeper than the bloodlines imo. Bree isn’t the only one to realize by the end of BM that the power she holds is hers and not something she needs to ask her ancestors’ permission for.)
Yes to all of this! Alice is *unique in that she has the resistance to mesmer Jessie gave her through Bree plus she’s been marinating in lemon-scented Gawain aether for ???? how Iong? She gonna wake up with POWER. If she doesn’t wake up as Will’s Squire— no Oath needed— I’ll eat my hat. *unique because she has no bloodline claim to either power; Bree was always the Scion of Arthur, even if she didn't know it, so William's comment that she was "acclimating fast for a Onceborn" was always false & perhaps a foreshadowing of Alice's journey
This is one of those fan theories that I'm warming up to the longer I marinate on it, if for no other reason than it would be funny as hell for these two to be bros lmao. The way they fought together in the woods, like they had been doing it all their lives was delicious enough!
cracks knuckles Well yes! Another thing we've seen before but only becomes apparent on rereads is that Bree has witnessed the power of Natasia & Faye doing workings together already, because it's the magic that locked her memory of the fair when she was 10 to Faye's charm bracelet. We learn in LB that Sel doesn't know the breadth of what his own power can do, & we continue to learn alongside Bree what she can do. Even if Sel has more demon blood in him than the average Merlin, there's no reason to disbelieve him when he says his mother is also something special; she was chosen to be Kingsmage as a child just like he was, after all. However: more than a few characters in the text talk about how important intention is when taking an Oath. Intention is also important when combining rootcraft & Merlin aethercraft. When Sel takes Bree's root with her consent (BM ch. 40 when they are fighting Erebus & she breaks the cuffs) he gets drunk off her, yes, but his eyes return to their normal gold color as well, & this nerd is of the opinion that she healed his descent without either of them knowing it in the process. Contrast this with Merlin!Sel taking her root by force in the Camelot dreamscape: it pulls him into full descent in the space of a few breaths. I think this part is giong to be key in Oathbound, in the relationships between our trio now & in the Faye/Natasia relationship in the past, in circumventing Abatement & the whole "one daughter at a time" thing, & in breaking the Order's Oaths.
Nick is hell of not boring!! I have faith that blondie is gonna turn it all the way out in OB. Whether he is both the Scion of Lancelot & a Morgaine via his mother's lineage or whether it's something else, I think he's going to play a big part in both dismantling the Order (he's already stated his intention to do this & lots of what Nick says off the cuff comes to pass) & saving Bree's bacon in just as dramatic a way as we've already seen Sel do. Trust!
Hey maybe, because we have already seen our girl sprout wings & fly. Next time perhaps she'll get to stay up there long enough to beat the SK at his own game.
This was fun & I think (hope!!) it’s pretty true to what is likely to happen in OB.
I can’t believe we have more than another year to keep refining these theories but at least we’ll have some new material to pore over once the BM paperbacks come out.
💋
INCOMING: A DESPERATE COLLEGE STUDENTS OATHBOUND PREDICTIONS!!!!
CC @mageofspace__ on IG
TRACY!! I JUST FELL TO MY KNEES IN THE MIDDLE OF WALMART! THE WHOLE GANG!! I’m so happy to see Valec, Alice, Will, & Mariah in the flesh like wtf! But while we are here, I want to talk about some of my Oathbound predictions…because I can. ❤️⚔️💙
P.S. IF YOU HAVEN’T READ LB OR BM I SUGGEST YOU DO NOT CONTINUE! Spoilers ahead!
• Okay first, I truly believe that Bree has had her squire and kingsmage all along, Nick and Sel. I mean just with the relationships between those three, there is no way it goes any other way.
also, Alice will wake from her coma and have somehow inherited powers from Will as she was LITERALLY breathing his aether signature in. Like I’m not 100% sure how that would work, but we’ve seen it in media before, take Monica Rambeau and Wanda’s hex for an example! Maybe that interaction with magic will awaken Alice's own unique magic too, or maybe it's closely related to Bree again how the Mesmer did too in LB.
Regardless, when she awakens I think bby girl will be given an even more important role in the finale of this series. Maybe like being Will's squire...
• it’s going to come out that not only is shadow daddy, IYKYK not spoiling for potential new readers who have no sense of self-preservation and are reading this anyways, is not only Sel's father but VALECHEZ’s! Like not only would that be pure comedy considering how they were at each other's NECKS in BM, but it makes sense as to why Sel was succumbing to his demonia so fast, faster than others, maybe because a little more demon than others…
•I think this new magic system that Tracy is cooking up is going to tap into Natasia and Faye’s relationship a bit more and even Sel and Bree’s.
I also think it’s going to be the solution to not only Sel’s demonia, but Bree’s bloodmark, and even abatement and all these fucking legendborn oaths. I mean think about the word OATH, practically meaning something one HAS to abide by. Vera took an oath of sorts with the blood mark “one daughter at a time for all time.” The legend born and their oath of service and all this, as I call it, greedy magic which shortens their life spans, the Merlins too! What if, just what if, Faye and Natasia found a way to combine both their forms of magic (root + aether + blood craft) and created something entirely new? Something so potent and powerful, defying these “oaths” or what you could call them, curses, to cure all these things…and what if since Bree is from Faye’s lineage, sel from Natasia, what if they can do it together too.
• I think we will learn more about the Morgaine. More on Nick….hmm. A lot of LB fans keep calling him boring, but with his mom's disappearance, and the fact that Tracy is too good of an author to simply leave his arc hanging, I don't trust it. Maybe he will even go rogue, I'm not too sure ATP, but don't sleep on Nick!
• Lastly for my final predictions…more like a pipe dream. I really, for the life of me, need Bree to pull a Wanda from episodes 8-9 of WandaVision with Shadow Daddy.
We know Bree is smart and clever, this ain’t new! So, I need her to take what she has learned from shadow daddy, and then pull a clean uno reverse, and get out of there! EXPEDITIOUSLY!
Then from there, I need her to find Sel and Nastia (preferably in some cute cabin in the woods, and Natasia needs to be a MILF) this revelation of Bree's survival prompts Natasia to discuss the above ^^^ She and Bree get to work! Sel is now cured and they can get these oaths removed!!! Once these oaths are removed, the REGENTS ARE TOAST, TOR TOO! Then we get to work on Camlann in book 4! Cuz that’s how tf Tracy does it! Period!!
THESE ARE JUST MY PREDICTIONS, NONE OF THESE ARE CANON!! All I have to say is I'm fucking so excited about this book and even though it's still two years out I'm trusting Tracy's expertise to bring us something DE-LI-CIOUS! Also is it too much to ask that if this is adapted for television to have it animated, we know how much Tracy loves and takes influence from anime... it's only fair, and I feel can make for a more accurate and dynamic visual medium.
That's all for now. PEACE.

The part that always gets me about the Legendborn series is Bree's family.
A mother makes a deal with a demon to save herself and her child, running from the man who assaulted her and owned her.
You can't argue with blood.
Her family's history is a story of black women doing the opposite of what those from the coloniser bloodlines do. They borrow, they ask, they beg. They sacrifice to save one another. Not for glory but for the hope of living in peace. But they can't because of that deal. The deal that saves and condemns the women who are of the Carter bloodline
Then you have the other families - those women in the order who hate that this black girl is king and Nick is in love with her. Bigots who refuse to follow her because they see her an accident or a 'fault' as opposed to recognising the slave owners in their circle.
Bree literally just wanted to know who hurt her mother and she is traumatised all over again, which is the experience of many of us when we find out our families' histories. It is rarely pretty.
And there are so many times you can tell she wants to run or give in.
Everything about this makes me sob omg.

Walkerverse Character Tier List
Hello Walker Family! I'm here announcing the beginning of the Walkerverse Character Tier List series!
I've created a list of characters from Walker and Walker: Independence to put in a tier list ranking. I will be releasing a series of polls with all these characters (including pictures and brief reminders of their roles) to determine which Tier List ranking they get. Whichever option from S to F gets the most votes will become the official ranking of that character.
Here is the criteria I used to select the characters I'm putting in the poll series:
They must have a name on the imdb page
They must have a minimum of two appearances
I have to remember them, regardless of their appearance count
Single appearances that were special/memorable will also be included (ex: Uncle Willy, Minnie Jayne)
The rankings will be as follows:
S tier: Best character in the show, love them with all my heart, they can do literally nothing wrong
A tier: Beloved blorbo, one of my favorites, I'd want to be friends with them if they were real
B tier: I like them, but I have my critiques. A good character that I mostly enjoy
C tier: Mid character, not the biggest fan of them but I won't complain when they show up
D tier: I don't like them. I have many criticisms of their actions and personality. I may even dislike whole episodes because of them
F tier: Literally the worst character in the entire show. Hate them. Much dislike. I fastforward over them on rewatches.
I currently have pictures (for the poll and the complete tierlist that I will link when it is public) for 39 of the 120+ characters I put on the list, so that's where I will be starting. I will include the full list of all the characters from both shows below the cut along with the taglist.
The first poll will go up on Monday, September 23rd! Can't wait to see what you guys think!

Okay well first of all this can’t be hiding in notes lol:
AHHH HEMMM! @thoughtfulbearpanda 😘
My first thought was that flowers + flame colors = Faye’s wildcrafting but that’s not new new. Like, we’ve heard about it but not seen it. So it must be something else?
Morgaine magic makes sense too but we’ve also seen a bit of their construct casting, so that’s not new new either.
So far we have humans who cast/manipulate aether/root & demons who need aether/root to survive on this plane. We haven’t seen any Fae/Fairy anything so who knows if that’s part of her magical worldbuilding in TLC but that’s my guess! There are a few people who I think could be connecting to fairies: Isaac (slight points to his ears are mentioned but never discussed again!) & Larkin (his tattoos are flower-like & his Da sounds both nicer & by his own statements more connected to “the old ways” than other Merlins we’ve seen.) Also we haven’t met Anna (Nick’s mom) yet! She could definitely be fae but that theory comes more from the source material than from the books themselves.
Can’t wait to hear others’ theories!
Ah Legendborn people we have some crumbs from Tracy’s latest story on instagram!
What do you think is about?? My guess is it might be the Morgaines? Or something totally different!!
tagging some people to discuss it with// @justbrainrot @thoughtfulbearpanda @thepsychicaliennextdoor

Okay, my Legendborn Cycle deep nerds— I have an idea for writing the story of Faye & Natasia’s relationship rattling around in my brain and I need to chat some stuff out, you with me?
(This will clearly contain Legendborn & Bloodmarked spoilers— it’s also a long one, y’all)
Item the first:
How exactly are we explaining the difference between how Bree’s root affects Sel in BM ch40-41 vs BM ch58? Because getting mega drunk & literally losing one’s humanity are… really different outcomes lol.
I personally think that consent is the key here (big ol’ hat tip to @jenosavel for this reasoning, it has been exploding my brain for a few weeks haha) & that Bree actively pouring root into the shared casting they created (for completeness I’ll also point out that she believes the construct/bomb they created was entirely Sel’s work, but he says it’s both of them) created the drunk-but-better feeling Sel has afterwards— plus his eyes go back to gold! They aren’t bright bloodred anymore nor are they the burnt sienna that they were once his mesmer was removed by Valec at the bar. Contrasting this with the changes he experiences after consuming her root by force in the last bloodwalk— it’s night and day. His eyes are “molten red,” his fangs are black, he has claws ffs! The only difference I can see between these two situations is Bree’s consent regarding use of her root (well the bloodwalk does take place on its own plane & not on earth but everything that happens in all the bloodwalks holds true on earth as well so.)
Anyway I obviously think this is a super compelling theory BUT it also means that Natasia can’t help him. She is probably in her own descent, since at this point we are six months after Faye’s death, & if the thing that has been keeping her balanced since she broke out of the Shadowhold years ago has been shared castings with Faye, then she’s pretty screwed unless she has access to the kind of edible (drinkable?) aether Valec sells or is friends with another rootcrafter. I don’t see why or how she could do that though, since it’s not like she can hide being a Merlin to anyone in the know.
Definitely interested in hearing other theories about this!
Item the second:
When I first read LB I was convinced that the accepted fact that Merlins would descend into demonia without their Oaths had to be a straight lie & just another way that the Order manipulated Merlins into giving their lives over to the cause. Are we to believe that all unbalanced cambions on the planet are bound to the Order? Like every single one? Nahhhh. Valec doesn’t have any children (that we know of) but he’s also very unlikely to be the only cambion on earth who isn’t descended from Merlin, & who knows what kind of shenanigans the others get up to? Plus one of the fun things Ms. Deonn has peppered these books with is the arrogance of the Order thinking their way is The Only Way— both how wrong that is & how that hubris blinds them from seeing the magical world as it truly is. I was mega surprised by the fact that Sel’s descent was a major part of the plot of BM. So that’s my previous headcannon bias which likely affects the following, I guess.
I just can’t wrap my mind around how the descent even works in a way? Like maybe this is just the Sel heart eyes talking, but though I understand how he explains it to Bree, I also wonder how reliable a narrator of his own destruction he is, because our boy doesn’t have the best self esteem. Like yes he for sure tries to kill Bree, & that’s capital letters BAD, no arguments there, but he’s not operating with all the information at the time! And as soon as he has the relevant info he’s the first to kneel to her in the ogof y ddraig, even though he must be as confused as anyone as to why she pulled Excalibur from the stone.
Let’s just take a look at the text, shall we?
"Oaths are sealed through personal belief and intention. Belief is why Lord Davis could do all the evil he did and not be burned by his own Oaths; he believed what he did was right. I believed I was doing my job well when you first arrived on campus. That going after you was the right thing to do."
“I'm not excusing you," I say. "But back then, you were doing your duty. What you thought was right based on what you knew. I didn't know what I was either."
Okay— so theoretically no ill effects should have come out of him being wrong about Bree being a goruchel, because he believed she was a threat, just as Davis believed he was serving the greater good. Cool cool.
I frown. "When did you worry?"
He shifts on the log to face me, eyes darting across my face so quickly, I almost don't feel the sparks.
"When I saw your bravery. Your fury. Your heart. When I started to see…” He swallows, brows knitting together. "When I started to see what I believe Nicholas sees when he looks at you. Only a monster could look at you and want to destroy you, Bree."
The knot loosens in my chest a fraction. "But you were still serving your Oath to Nick, then. So even though you were worried, you couldn't have succumbed that night, not technically . . . right?"
"Perhaps. But my behavior then affected how I behaved later, after Nicholas was taken." He inhales. "By the time the Regents arrived, I had been feeling the effects of not fulfilling my Oath for several days."
So by his estimation he begins his descent the night of the second trial. Which (tragically!) is the same night he begins to fall for Bree. (<— this part is my opinion but anyway) it leads me to my other point: his demon side is drawn to all the negative human emotions, yeah? Fear, suffering, anger, pain, etc. How can he be in descent when he’s feeling the beginnings of what is arguably the most human emotion of all? One which continues to grow throughout the whole of BM, during the time he’s away from Nicholas, yes, but protecting Bree with all he has?
Plus I just have to say it’s bullshit that there’s no stopping the descent once it starts. Like obviously no (Natasia) but also come on. It has to be a foregone conclusion? There’s no other option? That just seems like an obvious lie to scare baby Merlins into acting right. (Again— this is where my previous headcannon bias rears its head, so I question myself on this one.)
I’m not even sure what I’m saying here anymore 🤪 these books have got me all kinds of fucked up. How is Sel in descent at all? Is he just confusing it with his actions serving the spirit of his Oaths but not the letter? Or does it not have to do with any of this stuff & is simply about being away from Nicholas? Sel says himself that the Kingsmage Oath runs deeper than either of them has ever acknowledged, likely because it’s been part of them since they were really young kids, & it’s one of the most powerful Oaths in the Order.
Anyhoodle this is what my brain is record scratching on these days. Plssssss gimme what you’ve got in the comments because what else are we gonna do while we wait for her to write book 3?? Also please let me know if you are at all interested in my Natasia/Faye fic idea. I think it’s pretty funny that I’m over here writing a story about characters that don’t even appear in the books so far except for short flashbacks. 😆 What if I were a normal person writing fluffy selbree smut? Lmao anyway that’s not me I guess. (Everyone else continue to write that though lol because I like reading it.)
Just tagging folks who I have been in the comments with a few times, no pressure y’all: @you-are-my-king-now-cariad @thoughtfulbearpanda @blackdragonflies88 @ofstarsandmoonlightt @ashaligtwood @poisonousflora

Because the talent collected for Pokemon Masters impresses me, I’m making this masterlist post of voice actors. They are divided into four categories: Fresh and Unestablished (VAs who just surfaced in the past few years and haven’t become noteworthy names at the time of their casting), Fresh and Established (VAs whose careers have spanned the late 2010s and are already well recognized for at least one other major role, usually several), Veteran (VAs whose careers have spanned the late 2000s / early 2010s), and Super Veteran (VAs whose careers have spanned the early 2000s or even earlier). Again, bear in mind this reflects their status when cast for this game - obviously, things change: some Unestablished VAs are now starting to become Established, some Established VAs are reaching Veteran status, and eventually Veteran VAs will be known as Super Veterans.
