im a BIG fan of the trope where the man in the relationship is just a massive loser when it comes to his girlfriend/wife. like its one of my favourite tropes and s2 ep 1 of sxf was exactly that. i finally got time to talk about it and as a manga reader i have been SO excited to see this animated and once again, the anime team did not disappoint. i think the sxf anime adaptation is one of my favourite manga to anime adaptations ive seen. anyways!

i REALLY love the silliness of it all. twilight trying to create the perfect date for yor because he thinks shes in a bad mood because of all the ‘extra chores’ hes asking her to do, yor getting shot in the butt and not being able to sit down or do most of the date properly , anya and franky tailing them in silly disguises, twilight noticing them right away, anya creating a peanut bomb. the end scene between twilight and yor where yor thanks him. like the whole episode is incredible and hilarious.

i really have to give extra credit to whoever made the op and ed as well. i am IN love with them. the op is so silly and fun and bright which leads to me believe that it is perhaps in anyas pov? especially with how little there is of ‘real action’ compared to the first op of s1. the song is amazing as well. and the ed. omg the ed!!!! it has been stuck in my head since i first watched. its so beautiful and perfect and i LOVE the style so much. the song is incredible and so emotional honestly?

Hello Fellow OP Fans! To celebrate catching up with this series I made a template to show off your favorite parts of the series. It can be used with drawings, screenshots, manga panels, or just text, whatever works.

Hopefully the categories should be pretty self-explanatory, but if you want more details check under the cut :) If you need help thinking of examples I recommend checking out the One Piece wiki, as they have charts showing everyone/everything for any specific categories (Example: All Marines), though beware of spoilers of course.

-The first row is pretty straightforward, though if you're having trouble thinking of emotional moments someone made a tier-list of some of the best ones here. Another way to think of it would be the scene that most affected you or that you respect the most.

-The second row is also pretty straightforward. The categories are broad enough where there will definitely be some overlap (Example, Bell-mere being your fave Marine and fave parent), it's up to you whether you want to add someone twice or feature your second favorite.

-For the Devil Fruit powers you could go with the ones you think are objectively the coolest, or the ones that are used in the most interesting way. Non-fruit technique refers to any fighting style or ability that isn't from a devil fruit. Some examples are different forms of Haki, Fish-man karate, Sulong Forms, Nami's clima-tact, Sword attacks, Sky-walking, Sharpshooting, ect ect. Ship design refers to the actual boats in the series, again the fan wiki has you set here.

-Split the Other Favorite character category into male and female for variety, apologies if your fave is non-binary, please feel free to cross one out and use it however you choose. Non-Straw Hat crew could be a rival pirate crew or any established group, like CP9 or Baroque Works.

-For 5th row I know not everyone is into shipping, so I left them open to choose romantic or platonic pairings. For shorthand I kept the MLW (Male/Woman), MLM (Male/Male), and WLW (Woman/Woman) terminology though. The Ship Other category can be used for sibling, bestie, poly-ships, ect, anything that wouldn't fit in the other 3 categories. For creatures I was thinking of the ones unique to the series, things like Sea Kings, Den-Den Mushi, Banana Gators, the Alabasta duck mounts, whatever that yellow dog thing from Wano is, ect. You could also choose your fave animal character though like Laboon or Chopper. (Again the wiki is good for this).

-For the final row, Inventions refer to things like Vivre Cards, the Sea Train, Pacifistas, Log Poses, Dials, the Clima-Tact, ect; any unique tech that adds to the world building. For the 2nd category there, I thought it would be neat to see what characters people would want to see join the Straw Hats as a permanent member. The idea would be to pick a character that did/could have an interesting/fun dynamic with the rest of the crew. I imagine long lived companions like Vivi, Carrot, and Law would be popular for this reason. For the Anime OPs and EDs you can find a playlist here with all of them, though if your exclusively a manga reader you can always skip these/use them as a free space.

It's so sad to see so many good endings from more obscure series go down to more ones from more popular ones, especially when it's clear people didn't even bother to listen to the more obscure one... someone should run an OP/ED tournament where all the Big Shonen Anime are automatically disqualified.

Like I’m not gonna elaborate bc I’m the poll runner and I feel like I should be Professional(tm) on this blog and I’m not saying every ending that won which was from a big anime won bc the anime was popular. There are many mainstream anime that have endings that absolutely deserve to go far. Some of the popular winners I agree with and some I might have chosen differently but I get why they won, even when taking the anime itself out of the equation. And then there are some that I’m like. This absolutely only won bc it was popular. I just have no way of knowing how much of the results are because of the anime and how much is because of the music/video. But I’m also fully aware that endings from big anime have an unfair advantage over those from smaller anime I just don’t have a way to stop people from voting for their fave/familiar anime instead of the ED itself. Except for automatically disqualifying popular anime but I wouldn’t want to do that bc some of my personal favorite EDs are from popular anime and also I wouldn’t know how to determine the cutoff between Big and small anime. Also considering my biased perception of what is popular or not based on the tumblr circles I’m in. Make a cut off based on Viewership I guess?

my main dilemma right now is deciding if I should continue making the polls 1 day long or if I should make them a week long. Like I feel like a week is objectively the better choice but I’m just so impatient and like things to be streamlined. Like I’m gonna get bored if I have wait so long and stressed out over polls that are in limbo for so long (I have neuroses ok don’t look at me -_-) but it’s also more time to watch the videos and get a larger sample size would work better maybe?

Anyway, my favorite opening is obviously Fly High and anyone who DOESN'T have this one as fave is weird (opening 2 season 2). I simply cannot stay calm whenever I hear that song, and also it's during the best part of the anime so I have to love it!

Favorite ending is harder.... Visually I'd say I really like One Day (ending 2 season 4) because showing how every other character is doing is incrediblement wholesome and satisfying

But as for the song, I really like Leo (ending 2 season 1)

this is pretty difficult. I tend to forget things very quickly lmao

1. YOI: I just rewatched eps 1-10 and went through my tag so I could talk about everything that happened during the time yoi aired. I completely forgot about the Viktor is evil theories people had. also forgot about my own posts about translations and stuff. but now all the fandom speculations and translation mistakes are fresh in my mind.

2. Japanese studies/language: I might have dropped out of uni after 5 years, but I could probably do a 101 talk about my studies by throwing together a bunch of topics and talk about my experience studying in Japan. and of course fandom culture and a bit of translation theory?

3. Electron microscopy and material testing: basically my work lol. If I can include the different sample preparation steps and adjacent analysis methods, I might be able to talk 1 h... if not I can throw in workplace gossip and complaints.

4. Food: 1 h food tour through Berlin let's go!!! I can rec a bunch of good places to eat here. currently the italian gelato week is happening where ice cream palors offer limited flavours but the weather too cold (we had hail and snow yesterday...)

5. I can't think of a fifth topic so y'all just have to listen to me sing karaoke for 1 h. I'll introduce you to my fave anime OPs/EDs and rhythm game music.

Hi, welcome, I'm the CEO of Minerva Orland, you are in the Minerva love blog, where I love and worship Minerva Orland and every other character comes second. She is everything to me, mosts scrunkly and one of the most complex women in this godforsaken anime. But other faves include Irene, Erza and Lisanna.

favorite ship:

I like the majority of ft femslash ships, but the ones I tend to come back to are YukiNerva (of course), LisVia in particular when Edo!Juvia is involved in one way or another, and LuVia. From the first two I love the angsty concepts that can come up from the dynamics, and with the last one I lean more toward fluff.

favorite arc:

The phantom arc, there are things I don't enjoy in some of the most plot-heavy arcs, but I feel phantom is very well done in regards to how it introduces us to parts of the story of many characters, and it is the first one where there is a change to the status quo what with the guild being destroyed, character dynamics changing and new characters being introduced.

favorite op/ed:

op 1: KICK BACK tbh wasnt a massive fan of the song when i came out but its grown on me w the full context & lyrics it slayed idc NOW THE VISUALS ... filled me w euphoria when i first saw it have (re)watched half the fucking movies referenced ONLY BC MIDTERMS WAS BEATING MY ASS .. so creative and fun and dynamic and hectic as fuck the timing and directing on this is like incomprehensibly good. its funny asf and has such beautiful lively enviornments and lighting and such a cohesive feel despite how batshit everything is NO ONE HAS TALKED ABT THE SHOT W THE MOUNTAINS AND SKY AND THE BULLETS. AM I THE ONLY OEN WHOSE INSANE ABT THAT ONE. so so beautiful literally a look into the minds of fujimoto and the ani staff and a gift upon this earth. 10/10

ed 1: SUCH A GOOD SONG !!!!!!! fit super well w the end of the first ep & is just genuinely such a banger. credits roll was smart for the airing of the actual ep, helped me take in the whole ep and appreciate the best parts of it. the mv released on mappas channel is rly solid considering it just recycled scenes from the actual ep !! love first half of the vid + the zoom in on pochitas tail the most ofc !! 6/10 bc the song is a banger but its just no as obsessable bc of the lack of og visuals :(

ed 2: GORGEOUSSS VISUALS tho it doesn’t feel v well aligned w the tone of csm BUT STILL !!!! song aligns super well w the visuals atleast & i love love the look of the animation, the environments especially are so beautiful 😭 i think the denji falling into the sky scene were especially well timed w the music and made me v emo about his character. esp love the hayakawa fam focus and how power is literally the one who PULLS HIM BACK DOWN .. beloveds 7.5/10 ok i like it picasso

ed 3: FAVE SONG its so good. so much to say abt this one rapid change of scene linework shading color sfx is fucking insane each unique aes makes me physically ill its so good. so gripping the TRANSITION from makima goddess to hayakawa fam W THE DOOR. AND THE TRAUMA. fave part is the hayakawa family shots towards the end that combined w the lyrics perfectly encapsulates what csm is thematically to me. goretastic insanity used as a means of making the intensely human obviously doomed connections at the heart of the story that much more impactful. fully embraces the best parts of csm and rips my heart out all in the course of 90 seconds 10/10 idc idc

ed 4: POWAAA !!!! song is such a fucking banger i mean it this shit has had me dancing for weeks BUT THE VISUALS .... so dynamic and insane love how they played dress up w her and also made sure the audience knew she was a lil freak. theres so much to love and appreciate about the visuals and how fucking sick the movements are and the colors but truly this ones just vibes. 9/10

ed 5: fs my FAVE of all the ones currently out (i think this is the most popular opinion lmao) but the combination of the frantic, very dense visuals and a rly cool fast paced song scratched smth in my brain. so much inspiration to dig through and BEAUTIFUL use of colors, lighting, and effects animation omg. Those shots of himeno are stapled on the inside of my eyelids i love them. so many art references w/ a great selection to specifically represent the chaos of the eternity devil love the use of optical illusions (ONCE AGAIN W THE LIGHTING !!!) and use of timing to create a jarring effect (horses running in slo mo (same w some shots of the chs) immediately being contrasted w rapid movement/blinking of eyes, fireworks, shots of the sky w the clouds racing across) as well as the rapid changing of one shot to another is so insane. another detail i love is that it has a almost collage like look bc each background/piece of ch or effects animation has dif linework, uses dif brushes, as well very unique lighting and shading. also so so much to dissect w how it foreshadows later events (if u start looking there are like. 4 dif instances of guns in this bitch holy fuck) and the themes of the work as a whole but i have classes a life etc that will have to wait til winter break. so genuinely obsessed w this one it was literally the one that convinced me (most obnoxious csm fan) that mappa knows exactly what theyre doing and are likely making the actual anime the way they are as a deliberate commitment to make it even more insane later down the line. i am a drastic rapid tonal shifts enjoyer i love this ed 10/10 its my gf

ed 6: not a massive fan of the visuals or the song for this one :( the instrumental of the song felt kinda jarring after the sequence of denji jumping into the eternity devils mouth, i was def expecting a dif kind of vibe. the visuals were cool, but i don't feel like the static characters were used particularly well. some of the transitions and “camera” movements also rly didn't feel very well suited to the cuts they were in. my fave part was the settings and backgrounds, especially the textures and the way the movement “through” the bgs were done, tho the 5th ed had a very similar concept and i think executed it better. kind of disappointing with how much i enjoyed the prev eds, but it was still enjoyable to watch and analyze how they constructed the visuals. 4/10 bc i respect what they were trying to do i just dont think they had the time to develop a unique vision

Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun!: Fairly enjoy this series! Its starting off very well, my friend who's read the manga seems very excited! Thus, Im excited in return! I particularly looking forward to the Sabnock and Alice dynamic, lol. The 1st OP and 2nd ED of the series is still my faves, tho the OP and ED this time around arent bad (the latter is pretty unique, tbh)!

I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss: Surprise? Another friend recommended me this before it became an anime, and admittedly, I was entranced...by the love interest and his voice, kadljnbfdakljn- Pretty guy, what can I say!!! Dragons are cool too. I ended up reading the manga, to which, the anime has just caught up on it--but thankfully, the series' main medium is light novels. So theres more to come that I am completely unfamiliar with! I will say, the manga ultimately does do the parts it covers better than the anime, and the animation isnt exactly STELLAR (CG horse, LOL), but hey. Im here for a pretty dragon man who says he wants to make me cry and spoil me, an engaging lead, and some potential fantasy and/or game meta (tho I think the latter may be done for, tbh). OP and ED are both a BOP, and thats great, lol.

To Your Eternity: Obvious, I still need to get on the manga someday.

Raven of the Inner Palace: Surprise...? Im not exactly sure what to expect, but the first episode was fun and intriguing, so Im on this train for now, lol. I recall Livechart described this as history and romance, both being things I kind of have a disconnect from as entertainment forms. But theres a fair bit of mystery and fantasy, its definitely got me curious! We'll see...

Bibliophile Princess: SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE! As implied above, pure romance as a genre doesnt particularly excite me enough to pursue, but! You get a relationship that acknowledges theres no romantic feelings in the first place, and then have them develop? Theres enough interrogating romance and/or other potentially intriguing factors to interest me! The first ep was pretty standard, and ultimately, I dont think its going to interrogate romance much at all, but the couple engaged due to politics and theres implication of having to maneuver through more politics, so I have that! Seeing the couple be smitten but also Totally Not, Right? has its entertainment points for me. For some reason, lol.

Also watched the first ep of Chainsaw Man

I had been considering reading the manga for awhile--I had only heard good things about it, but I kept putting it off since there's so many other things I ve been meaning to read (still may read it in the future, same with Dungeon Meshi and the Vanitas manga). I had heard of the manga a few years ago (...like 2019? Maybe earlier like 17 or 18? I think?) and knew it was gonna get big just based on all the hype I heard of it from people who regularly keep up with Shounen Jump in general.

And this episode? Blew things outta the fucking water. Man, the lighting, the pacing, the animation, the integration of the CGI... It was dark and bloody--if I hadn't already known this was in SJ i wouldn't believe it, even compared to its contemparies like Demon Slayer and BNHA it's dark. But I really enjoyed it, and I'm hyped to see where things go because I've heard it gets really trippy and also has some really interesting things to say!!

I also love how the anime doesn't bog you down with exposition. There's a little bit (like Denji talking about how Devils can take over corpses) but most of it feels natural--it's no narrator or teacher character sitting someone down to explain how the world works. It just plops you in: here's Denji. He's got a chainsaw dog. He's in debt to the Yakuza. Devils exist, people hunt them, most work for government, they are dangerous but can make deals with humans and even take over their bodies. Devils heal from human blood. Denji's had a hard life and is horny. Bam, done!

I really gotta applaud the mangaka and the screenwriters for avoiding many pitfalls first episodes/chapters fall into when it comes to really anything, especially for fantasy (even urban fantasy) settings. I really loved that about it--it doesn't talk down to you, it understands the reader is capable of putting things together on their own, and it's smart about it. This type of cold open can still be done wrong and leave people confused, but they did a good job and had pretty simple concepts to explain, luckily. Exposition isn't always bad, after all, and is usually necessary, but you can really appreciate when it's been done so naturally, as it's such an easy pitfall.

Love the OP and all the cool references and shots. The OP is amazing. I am interested in seeing all the different EDs too, and if the animation'll change or not. Can't wait for more! This season has been one of my faves in years, between this, MP100 III, Gundam, plus netflix dropping Stone Ocean and Tiger & Bunny soon too.
