ihdinassiràdal müstegìm

Türkçesi Bizi sırat-ı mustakime/dosdoğru yola hidayet et.

Sırat Arapça’da surata kelimesinden gelir. Suraat geniş ve uzun kılıçtır.Çünkü Araplar kavisli kılıçlar yapardı, eğer kılıçlarla ilgili bir şey biliyorsanız bir Arap için farklı kılıç, düz ve uzundu. Buna suraat denir.

Bundan sırat kelimesinin geniş ama düz bir yol olduğunu anlarsanız. Geniş fakat düz yol. Arapça’da kelimelerin herhangi bir dilde olduğu gibi çoğulları vardır. Örnek : kitap- kütüb(Kitaplar) ama Sırat kelimesinin çoğulu yoktur. Nedeni ise çünkü sırat alternatifi olmayan yoldur.

Bu, Allahın bize İslam’ın bir olduğunu, dinin bir olduğunu, hidayetin bir olduğunu söyleme şeklidir.
