Some people who don’t want to have children are afraid their kids might go through the same hardships they experienced in their youth. When they do have children, they tend to overprotect them, fearing they’ll suffer as they once did. Do you think Severus would be that type of father? The kind who would question his child’s friendships a lot and, even if he doesn’t meddle, would find ways to “protect” them, coming across as a strict parent but really just wanting to prevent his child from enduring what he had to go through?
I think Severus would be a strict father when it comes to things like academics or instilling a mindset focused on hard work and effort. He’s someone who has always valued those qualities and has shown a clear disdain for laziness or a lack of ambition, so I imagine he’d be the kind of parent who’s a bit of a pain when it comes to grades and that sort of thing. But I don’t think he’d meddle in his children’s friendships. If his kids have friends and a social life that makes them happy, I don’t see why he’d feel the need to act like a gatekeeper, right?
I also picture him as a more reserved type of father when it comes to interacting with his kids. He’s fully aware that he’s never been great with children or teenagers, but at the same time, he wouldn’t want to be as aggressive with them as his own father was with him. So, his interactions would probably come off a bit awkward, lol.

Harry trying to prove Draco is a death eater but Ron and Hermione not taking it serious is the same as Snape trying to prove something was going on with Remus since hes ill once a month and disappears at night but Lily not believing it and I think that's so fucking funny. Why are they so similar in so many ways it's genuinely kinda crazy

Father
You were convinced your father hated you from the start, result of a night of passion that Severus regretted heavily, you were left at his doorstep to raise, and he...well he wasn't a good father...controlling, cold and judging, your father wasn't a fitting parent for you, thay was why you left as soon as you finished hogwarts. And yet after the war, finding out he has lost his voice after the attack of a snake to his throat, he found yourself there, sitting beside his bed at the infirmary.
Male reader had followed a path of fame, becoming the best beater of the quidditch world cup at 20 years old, yet his life was bleak, and je was ashamed of his father's dark path, yet he had to go back, for the sake of repaying him, I won't meet him again it he pushes me away again, he'd tell himself, yet unknowingly, he had given a man of unquenchable thirst, something to savor, you were back and he wouldn't let you go.
Unbeknownst of you, your father has a heart, albeit dark, and you are locked inside of it, doomed to remain there forever.

Something about Dumbledore being so hard on Snape
Dumbledore being scornful of Snape even when Snape was on his knees
Dumbledore emphasising that Snape made a mistake and must pay for it
Dumbledore who kept reminding Snape of his mistake even when he was grieving Lily
Dumbledore who didn't just let Snape change sides, he needed Snape to change his heart
Dumbledore who made the same mistakes as Snape and has been living in guilt ever since
Dumbledore who realised Snape was following in his footsteps
Dumbledore who may have started out thinking of Snape as cowardly or selfish but soon grew to trust him
Dumbledore who gave Snape half truths because if worst came to worst then Voldemort would have all the information right on his arm
Dumbledore who trusted Snape enough to not lie to him about the fact that he wasn't telling him everything even though he knew Snape resented it
Dumbledore who trusted Snape so much he knew that even if Snape resented him he would not betray him
Dumbledore who left everything he worked for in Snape's hands knowing it would be safe
Dumbledore who asked Snape to be the one to kill him, not just to save Draco's soul but for his own sake
Dumbledore who chose to die but only at the hands of someone he had grown to love
Dumbledore who once saw Snape as a desperate selfish boy that disgusted him
Dumbledore who made Snape his heir
Dumbledore who made Snape his.
#these two just make me so incredibly feral#while snape was a mirror of tom and harry he was also a mirror of dumbledore#not just a mirror but an echo#a following#he followed dumbledore's footsteps#and dumbledore must have seen this. seen snape and seen himself#dumbledore never quite forgave himself for his mistakes and thats probably why he was so harsh on snape#because he was angry at himself and that anger passed down to the one who followed his footsteps#the one who inherited everything from him#the two are literally father and son like their story is woven like that of a father and son#from snape following dumbledores footsteps in going to the dark and accidentally indirectly killing the one he loved#to his returning home like an estranged son begging his father for help#to their dynamic of a stern father and a son who has too much expected of him yet rises to meet that expectation#severus snape#albus dumbledore#pro snape#pro albus dumbledore#also that line “snape was Dumbledore's”#do you understand how much that makes me feral?#he was Dumbledore's. just that. Dumbledore's.#he wasn't his son as such but more than just his spy teacher even more than his friend#and the way harry was Dumbledore's man so fiercely loyal and trusting and how he saw dumbledore as his protector and father figure#and how Dumbledore loved him despite trying hard not to#that line “snape was Dumbledore's” echos harry and Dumbledore's dynamic#Snape was Dumbledore's. what exactly was he of Dumbledore's doesnt matter because you cant define it#just that he was Dumbledore's

I think Snape's death scene is super interesting because Snape is the only person we ever see Voldemort apologize to. Yes, he’s not sorry enough to not kill him but he does express regret which is a unique moment. He definitely respects Snape a lot more than he does most of his followers and maybe even likes him to the extent that he likes anyone by that point in his life.
They do after all have a lot in common - both from poor, low class backgrounds, both halfbloods, both with a bad relationship with their Muggle fathers, both outsiders to the privilege and influence wielded by the old wealthy pureblood families like the Blacks and the Malfoys, both prodigiously talented etc. It's just interesting.

Severus's life if Tobias was an actual decent father and husband headcanons
When he finds out that Eileen and Severus are wizards, he takes a minute to take in the information (i feel like he is more the religious type) and even goes to church.
At first, he was angry that his own wife would hide that from him, but after much time and talking with a reasonable, open-minded, understanding priest, he went home and he and Eileen had a long talk.
He is a hard worker at the factory. He goes to work early but comes home late, and Eileen always makes him breakfast, lunch, and dinner and barely drinks but still drinks every now and then.
After Eileen told Tobias everything, he told her to educate him on the Wizarding world so he could have a better grasp of it.
After Tobias was educated on the Wizarding world, he did not like how relationships like his and Eileen's were looked down upon, which made him worried for Severus, especially when he got accepted into Hogwarts.
Severus still wears hand me downs but he does get some new clothes since they don't have a lot of money.
Tobias would be that husband and father that would glare or yell at someone who gave them looks or said/whispered something about them.
Tobias would not be afraid to fight somebody, magic or not. (YOU DO NOT MESS WITH THIS MAN'S FAMILY)
Whenever Severus comes back and he is acting different, he notices. He knows what being bullied looks like, and he talks with Severus about it
Tobias teaches Severus how to defend himself and shows him a couple of moves he learned in the military (the man obviously served)
Eileen would be more involved in Severus's life instead of being afraid.
When the "prank" happened, they immediately found out and gave Dumbledore h3ll for this. And they immediately pull Severus from hogwarts (but not before Tobias is about to give the marauders an old school a$$-whooping)
Eileen and Tobias transferred him to Durmstrang, where they kept a close eye on him (they are helicopter parents now, and u can't tell me otherwise)
Severus obviously noticed the struggle that his parents were facing, not just prejudice but the money struggle. So, growing up, he would always help his mom around the house, help cook and clean, and even sell some potions here and there. (He sells his potions to Tobias's work buddies)
Severus gives his dad potions to help his health and even casts a few spells on him to help him at work (Tobias even after all these years is still not used to it but is impressed by his son's brain)
When Severus graduated, a lot of potion masters wanted him, but he knew he couldn't afford it. So his parents both worked to scrounge him enough money to pay for his apprenticeship (severus helped, he's not letting his parents do all the work)
Severus's summer job as a teenager was helping out at either his father's factory or working at a bar
When Severus came out that he liked both girls and boys, both his parents weren't surprised. They found out a looooong time ago and had their time to process it. And they learned to accept him and his Sexuality in their own way.
Severus is a potion master, has his own apothecary, and his parents couldn't be prouder. He also has a medical and chemist degree. (So if anyone needs a doctor, he's your guy)
When Eileen passed away, Tobias was distant from Severus, but eventually, he learned to be close with his own son again for his wife's sake.
Tobias and severus visit Eileen's grave every year on her birthday.
After Tobias passed, Severus visits their grave in his free time just to talk to them and tell them about his life.
Severus is happier, calmer, and less depressed but still our favorite Sarcastic sharptounged Slytherin
He wouldn't join the deatheaters unless they threatened his parents. He would protect them with his life
Hope you guys love this little headcanons. Enjoy

so...snape fans have speculated where cokeworth is located in the england map or what it's equivalence would be. i've seen people speculate it's probably up north perhaps. maybe snape's a northerner.
however.
it's been stated multiple times that cokeworth is in the midlands. so we're thinking northampton, shropshire, stoke, birmingham.
but i prefer to think it's in the black country. mainly for these reasons:
1. cokeworth is an industrial town, even if spinner's end seems mainly abandoned, and the black country was the birth of the industrial revolution.
2. the black country was known for steelworks, glassworks and cokeworks which is maybe where the town got its title from.
3. the black country suffered from high unemployment due to the closing down of a lot of industrial sites in the 60s and 70s which ties into the idea of spinner's end being practically desolate now, and also the strain on the snape's household's economic position.
4. petunia met vernon dursley and marries him. his job was being the director of a firm that made drills. which are made of steel. steelworks anyone?
5. which leads to my last and favourite theory; petunia marrying vernon who perhaps also came from the black country then decided to name their child after something close to home. a nearby town perhaps - dudley.

You know what I hate the most? It's people saying that Harry should have named Ablus Severus, Remus. And this is not even because I love Dumbledore and Snape (or at least not mainly) but because Harry already has a son called Remus and everyone saying this usually completely forgets about him. His name is EDWARD REMUS LUPIN and just because he is “only” Harry's godson doesn't mean he doesn't love him as much as his 3 biological children. On the contrary, Harry Potter the boy whose main parental figures were the parents of his best friend, his godfather, and his teachers knows this better than anyone. He knows he already has a son named after Remus.

How do you think Severus would cope if his son or daughter went through the same things he experienced during his adolescence? If his child were a copy of him, both in appearance and personality, and was now suffering the same way Severus did during his school years, how do you think he would react when he finds out what is happening to his child?
Well, I’m torn between two possibilities: either it would trigger him to the point where he wouldn’t know how to handle it, or it would set him off into full-blown rage, where he’d completely lose it. Both seem very plausible to me. Either way, when imagining an AU where Severus is a father and has to deal with situations like this, I always insist that how he approaches the problem would heavily depend on the partner he has and their personality. For instance, maybe he wouldn’t even have to worry about it because his partner has an absolutely fierce temperament and is ready to burn alive anyone who messes with their kids.
I also don’t think Severus’s hypothetical children would go through the same things he did. Let’s remember that a big part of Severus’s drama was that he had nowhere to go, no one to trust, and no adults to support him. Abuse is neither endured nor handled in the same way if the victim knows they can rely on someone, that there are people who will defend them, or that outside the toxic environment, they have a safe space to retreat to.

If Snape had a daughter, what would she look like?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For me it would be something like that. She would probably have the opposite personality of her father. More energetic, more cheerful and more mischievous. She and Snape argue all the time, but they love each other more than anything?? I haven't come up with a name for her yet, please feel free to give me your name ideas.
