the annoying thing about the CG WORLD magazine is that it mainly focuses on costume design and a lot of the actual character design stuff is blurred out.

there's some stuff on tcrf that i think was ripped from one of the beta builds but Damn is it annoying that there's hardly any accessible beta and cut content

There's not a lot of Hinomori sisters love here so here it goes:

- for a while in middle school, Shizuku tried to hide from her fans that she has a sister to protect Shiho. They found out after a while, but it turns out Shiho has a good resting bitch face that protects her anyways and she was rarely bothered, her angry face also was used as a shield for Shizuku whenever they walked together.

- once some guy tried to reach her to interview her about Shizuku and he got a big fat "no, go fuck yourself loser leave teenage girls alone what the fuck" on Live TV. Which worked greatly to get people off her back.

- now that leo/need is famous as well she's getting more people around asking for pictures but she treats those nicely (and if they listen to the songs they likely know she just has an angry face without being mean anyways)

- Shiho used to go to Shizuku when she had nightmares, they had a routine, Shizuku would make hot chocolate for them both while Shiho did a blanket fort in the living room and would usually sleep cuddling. It stopped in middle school when Shiho started to distance herself and Shizuku had less free time, however they both missed that time so much that one day (after main story) Shiho just goes to her at midnight like "... Can you make me hot chocolate again?" And they started the tradition again.

- Whenever middle school Shiho made a song or drew smth, she always hated it and tried to throw it away. Shizuku always caught them from the trash and put them somewhere in her room.

- Shiho has hit someone for making Shizuku uncomfortable in front of her. She'd do it again. That day was the first time she made the hot chocolate for her older sister

Our prsk appearance headcanons that no one asked but

(btw by tan we mean: darker skin tone we didnt think of one specific to most of them)

Ichika: skinny/girl twink, her arms hurt when she carries her guitar her full day. Girl loser /affectionate, also taller than canon. Her hair is straight but thick.

Saki: chubby (she deserves after the hospital time), very visible freckles on her whole body, though she tends to hide it with makeup, and her face is round and with chubby cheeks even while sick. Canon size. Wavy but thin hair which sucks to take care of.

Honami: fat, and strong. More on the tan side, taller than canon, slightly wavy hair

Shiho: average id say? Some light freckles, gets confused with a twink a lot but she's just a lesbian, shorter than canon for funsies, straight hair, very light freckles on her cheeks.

Minori: she's more legs than human, like a fucking deer. /Hj. Gets stronger/chubbier as mmj goes on because she needs to adapt her diet for the amount of energy she's releasing, tan, shes average size, id say canon is good for her, thin and straight hair

Haruka: . Thin for . Canon reasons. However she has some muscles. Pale id say? Also canon height, thick and straight hair.

Airi: muscular, not too chubby for idol reasons otherwise she would be, tan too, slightly bit shorter, thick curly hair.

Shizuku: she looks like a swan and I can't explain it. Thats all, taller than every girl and Tsukasa, slightly wavy but thin hair. Very light freckles on her nose.

Kohane: chubby-ish. Round face, looks like a hamster, same height as canon, straight-ish hair

An: very Lean, not very muscular but athletic like that tiktok archery twink (also random but has done pole dance+street dance classes), tan, she's really fast and eats a lot without gaining weight, which she complains about, also taller than canon, thick and straight hair.

Akito: a little muscular, especially his legs, tan, lots of freckles on his face and shoulders, bit shorter than canon, freckled, thick hair thats slightly wavy.

Toya: twink and pale, his fingers are pianist long and he's very elastic and stretchy somehow. Taller than canon, veery straight and thin hair.

Tsukasa: he looks like a twink but somehow has muscles, tan, his freckles are very visible because of the sun but they're only around the cheeks, wavy hair like Saki.

Emu: chubby/fat, stronger than she looks, same height as canon, straight hair.

Nene: girl twink once again, pale because she does not know what sun is, thin ass hair.

Rui: twink, and also looks like a square, he's taller thsn canon (shorter than rui) but slouches a lot, his hair changes on the day tbh, and its a bit longer than canon.

Kanade: extremely thin but after eating nofmally again she goes to average id say? Chubby cheeks though, extremely pale anyways, canon height and straight hair thats thin and frail but it gets better as niigo teaches her how to take care of it. Mizuki also cuts her hair to shoulder height

Mafuyu: muscular, taller than canon (taller than mizuki, tanner than canon too, thick wavy hair, Mizuki also cut his hair.

Ena: chubby, same height as canon and tan, her freckles are only around the nose and cheeks but they're very visible, not as much ws Akito or the Tenmas tho, letting her hair grow and its slightly wavy but she tends to make it straight because she claims its easier, she's also a ginger but dyes her hair

Mizuki: lean, but not as much of a twink as the others, also her legs look long too, grows a bit more than canon, straight hair who tends to try and give it a bit more waves to it.

Made it to Kaneshiro’s palace. The first time I beat it in the game’s vanilla version, I got my hopes up extremely high when I saw all the money in that briefcase the Phantom Thieves stole from his heart, only for my soul to be crushed when that fat bastard’s face showed up on the bills. Also, due having learned about the game’s voice actors since then, I keep hearing Winter’s voice coming out of Sae’s mouth, and imagining Ilia riding a motorcycle.

Oh yeah! I never connected those two myself!

And yeah- it should have been obvious that the game wasn't gonna give you THAT much currency but you can't help but hope for a free ride money wise, huh? Though in Royal, it's actually REALLY easy to hit the money cap.

Gotta say, Kaneshiro's boss fight was probably one of the better altered ones. Kamoshida's was...eh. The highlight was Cognitive Shiho showing up...and all the grossness that entailed. And Madarame was...actually kind of ruined in my opinion.

I really liked the dance of managing the multiple paintings to KO all of them and I feel like Old Man Sentai was a bit of a downgraded. Especially the breakdown in the final phase. Unlike the original where you turn his very dangerous paint against him, especially with Yusuke doing it. Now you just...have the clones going through dementia.

Hi dear anon and thank you for taking me as an inspiration. Tbh growing up as someone who was considered too big till the end of my school it was a very big change to lose weight and be considered pretty

I think the biggest change would be the hate I got from a lot of girls. I am someone of a curvaceous build ( for reference you can google Shiho Yoshimura , I have a body like hers ) . So when I got slim , many very skinny girls , girls who have that k pop idol like Jennie type of body were very jealous of me. I had friends who would secretly hate me because I actually loved my body unlike how I hated myself and had low self esteem earlier.

Before my weight loss girls would want to take pics next to me just so they could look smaller but when I lost weight most of them refused to take pics with me , often times they'd purposefully take awful pics of me when we went somewhere together. I remember once saying that I actually like my body and many of them started putting me down saying " well you're still fat compared to us". Ofc it is not same for every girl. A lot of girls are actually happy for you too but in general people just become a lot jealous of you

One more thing is that guys and strangers become nicer. When you're fat if you walk in some place where no one knows you people automatically just assume that you're a morally bad person no matter how good you behave. They think it's ok to comment on your body even if you haven't made a single remark about their body . I had this friend of mine who would always demean me whenever I would be excited about some sport by saying " well you can't even run a mile" or something like " well you won't be able to run and catch me"

It was funny because I actually ran faster than most of them ( I did exercise daily , I just wasn't in a calorie deficit )

YIPPEE OK since we love all of the characters equally. have one for each character >:) also some of these are very niche and specific

Ichika: he spent a lot of time online during his middle school years before reconnecting with leoni. mostly on like Miku forums and such

Saki: MOBILITY AID USER!! switches between crutches, a cane, and a wheelchair depending on the day but is on crutches the most often. they're also covered in stickers, everyone knows she loves stickers so Saki is always getting stickers as gifts! she has a penguin from Haruka, phenny from emu, sparkly stars from tsukasa, music notes from Toya, and a lot more!!

Honami: they hate flying- not scared of heights, just being in a plane freaks them out

Shiho: they really like cutesy movies like romcoms and such! they also can't do horror and have really strong reactions to thrillers and such

Minori: AUTISTIC QUEEN she had a "special interest journal" where she basically just wrote down all the idol stuff she knew. it was not just one journal it was like five full notebooks. and this was in ADDITION to her regular diary

Haruka: going to be honest. fat Haruka is so important to me. it's pretty upsetting how she has an ed and it's just. never addressed? and treated as normal? so we love the idea of Haruka putting on weight after becoming an idol again with mmj. she loves sweets so much!!!

Airi: DRAG KING so normal about Airi doing drag. definitely a lot of gender fuckery going on. Airi would totally see being an idol as an exaggerated performance of gender so he starts branching out into other expressions!! can totally see her wearing wigs or doing really funky costumes

Shizuku: her favorite animal is the ostrich! she loves "ugly" animals because she genuinely thinks they're beautiful

Kohane: is extremely knowledgeable about snakes and also very comfortable with things like animal death by virtue of having count pearl! if you ask her something about snakes she WILL talk for hours

An: very very picky eater. she hates slimy textures and loves simulating foods like spicy and crunchy stuff.

Akito: loves to do hair and makeup and is a very touchy person!! once vbs is formed and close Akito likes to play with the other's hair or do their makeup for fun :) an's hair is his favorite for elaborate hairstyles, kohanes is the most fun, and toya's hair is the softest

Toya: has arthritis and general hand pains as a result of being forced to play the piano so much when she was younger. it's hard for her to deal with, not just because of the pain but because of the memories associated with it

Tsukasa: has awful vision he refuses to get checked out. the rest of wxs start to notice how he has trouble reading things far away or doesn't seem to take notice of farther things so Rui decides to bring it up. tsukasa has a lot of internalized ableism especially as he feels he HAS to be totally healthy to be a good older brother to saki so the rest of wxs definitely helps walk him through the process of getting glasses

Emu: very animated while watching movies, she can't just sit still and be quiet she's constantly commentating and exclaiming things!! like "oh no don't go in there!!!" or "GASP! how could he!" wxs movies nights are very loud with her and Tsukasa combined

Nene: swears a LOT because of her online gaming. tries to tone it down around her friends, especially when at pxl, but it slips out a lot

Rui: makes things for his friends all the time!!! literally willing to learn anything. he's made hearing aids, braces, robot animals, water bottle filters, etc etc. also he has an AWFUL sleep schedule

Kanade: they have very poor motor skills and get shaky alot- it's one of the reasons they'll take a break from composing, but only if they're shaking bad enough for it to be too difficult to continue. that's part of the reason they were willing to try exercising. just overall very sickly

Mafuyu: he's transmasc + plural! also once he starts to heal and feel more connected to himself he gets very very physically affectionate with niigo. like hugs and cuddling and laying in laps, it just makes him feel very safe and cared for

Ena: AWFUL at video games. fighting games, survival, roleplay, she literally is so bad. mizuki tries to get everyone to play Minecraft and they have to delete the server because of how angry Ena got. her coordination in video games is just Not There

So watching the Barbie movie and listening to the El Diablo remix of Fly Away by Teddyloid sparked an epiphany for Ann—

She could have been Panty. Now hear me out,

just as Panty had a mini-arc of not being as much of a hedonistic bitch (for better or worse), Ann could have had that. She's spiteful and pretty, and knows that she's pretty—she just hates when other people use that to justify mistreating her.

She doesn't give a shit about the other victims aside from her and Shiho. This might just be fanon but she definitely gives me the vibes of someone who knew Ryuji, knew him well, and still couldn't do anything for him during the initial Kamoshida incident (him breaking Ryuji's knee and team). She decided against killing Kamoshida not because it'd be right or wrong necessarily but because the only way he can atone, in her eyes, is to suffer.

She has a whip, for crying out loud. That soft, frightened Ann and the sadist who only cares about who she's loyal—who her friends are—they need to co-exist. And in Canon P5, they don't. Ann likes sugar and Shiho and after that, she barely likes modeling or has a want. And that sucks.

Her costume—the perfect embodiment of what makes you feel powerful and sleek—is immediately undercut by having the boys gawk at her while she desperately tries to cover herself. And that's gross. The problem isn't the costume. It's her interaction with the costume.

I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it or really any problem with it, if we leaned into it (also if she weren't pretty much a teenage girl being dropped in the deep end of sexuality) like Juliet from Lollipop Chainsaw or Bayonetta. Those two are peak powerful-sexy and camp as all hell. And I wish that scene felt like it was more about her retaking her narrative. She's not a sexy victim—she's a pissed off girl who happens to be really attractive and sick of it.

And honestly, same. The decision to make her half-Colombian and half-Japanese is because well, I find the "desirable white hafu" boring af and because I'm honestly a lot more familiar with the fetishized attractive person. Ann looks like a curvy gyaru girl (and while I appreciate gyaru girls for what they are and do, it's still kinda weird for racial undertones and whatnot) but isn't one. She's a darker Latina-Japanese woman with curves, family and wants. That is directly at odds with how Kamoshida (patriarchy) would like to have her—a pretty, exotic and rare trophy. Her having cellulite and actually having to get up early and have a routine to look good doesn't fit that. Her at healthiest actually being fat/plus-sized. Her being a human person and actually allowing herself to be seen as human again is part of her arc in my retelling. Her having to live without being Shiho's protector and best friend, without Kamoshida, without as tight a grip on routine sounds like a fun take.

Because as much as I like Ryuji as the heart of the team, Rin and Ann are the leader and second in command here—they're the ones who butt heads the most. They're the perfectionists who have two painfully parallel ideas about justice in the beginning: it's not for me and fuck everyone (except for these very specific people who are mine). Which for Ann broadens into justice is about taking action revenge for those who can't until Futaba's Palace. They butt heads over the type of perfectionism—Ann's about optics and not giving room for anyone to say somethings wrong with their plans, the style of the Thieves while Rin's about tactics, a way in and out, knowing the patrols like the back of their hand, preparing for any mistake. They're both rigid and it's really difficult to call either of them soft in the way that someone who didn't know Haru that well could call her soft and their dynamic is one that needs to be built in a way that truly does require Kindness because both of them are traumatized and have no one they really trust to talk about it with. They're outcasts who watch the warmth of the village through the windows and staunchly refuse to burn it down because hope against hope, maybe one day, someone will let them in.

But back to the Ann and Panty comparison, Panty is a hedonistic apathetic young woman who breaks hearts and kicks ass. Ann could have been a pretty, vain, apathetic, hedonistic, heart breaking ass kicker with a whip who holds grudges and some pretty black and white thinking. Every time someone mentions Kamoshida, she's there to spit on his name. Every Palace owner is evil. Every Palace owner is irredeemable. Everyone who isn't a Phantom Thief is the problem.

Let her get excited about trendy desserts and shoes. Let her love the camera and how she looks in it. If we're going to have Catwoma-sorry, Kittywoman as a comparison make it worth it. Let there be rumors about her being a slut. Let those linger after Kamoshida. Let it be hushed. Let her classmates be envious of the untouchable, inhuman Ann Takamaki and the one mortal she allows to be graced with her presence.

And that scene where she has the breakdown after the phone call with Kamoshida early on?

Not yet. We'll go slow.

I'd have those chips in her armor show after she's voluntarily taken off her mask. Day after day, he visits her and Shiho. Day after day, he calls. Day after day, they either make progress or they don't and no one seems to give a shit about this. No one.

So. She snaps. And this is where her Arcana shines—the Lovers: communication, intimate relationships, trust and the development of personal belief systems—because the Thieves, Ryuji and Rin, catch her. Morgana is Morgana which I'll espouse upon later. They become a team in vulnerability, in trust. Because to me, at the end of the day, mutual vulnerability builds the first bridge. Small victories, small tears, larger payback.

She doesn't kill him because she needs him to confess. She needs to watch the guilt eat at him, watch him ruin his life like he tried to do to hers. (sometimes she wonders if he'd succeeded) (it's a thought that as time goes on, she's able to push more and more out of her head and out of Shiho's too) She doesn't know what that says about her. She doesn't know if she likes it.

But she doesn't hate it.

And I don't know man, isn't that what being in your 20s is sometimes—figuring out what parts of yourself you don't 100% hate and figuring out how to be a person.

TLDR: Ann Takamaki and Barbie gave me more feelings than I expected when I first looked at them when I was younger. I thought I hated them but really with Ann, I felt betrayed by the narrative and this is how I'd fix it. And just like with Barbie, it was all patriarchy and an unfair narrative.

What is your opinion about Akai x Shiho ship? I see a few people that ship them together. Personally, I think this ship is impossible and weird. Plus, I ship Akai with Jodie.

The Akai x Shiho ship does not sit well with me romantically mainly because he's already dated Akemi and is still in love with her. That would be just plain weird in my opinion. Also now that they are confirmed to be cousins, ummm not my cup of tea tbh (I know it's legal in some countries but that's just weird in my opinion). I think they'd vibe better with him being a big brother figure to her rather than her lover.

As for the Akai and Jodie ship, I have mixed feelings. There's no doubt Jodie is still in love with Akai and cares for him deeply but it all seems one-sided to me. Yes, Akai does care about Jodie, but not as much as she cares for him. Not to mention, the fact that he fell in love with someone else while he was still with Jodie is a major red flag. And while he came clean to Jodie and broke up with her in a mature manner, if I were in Jodie's place I could never trust him again. He's also made it clear he's willing to sacrifice his relationship with Jodie if it meant bringing down the organisation...soooooo in short Jodie deserves better.

Also it may be just my opinion but I find their chemistry lacking. He is too cold and reserved with his feelings while she is more hot-headed and emotional. And while opposites attract in most cases, they seem to me on the farthest ends of the spectrum that there isn't a solid connection. Otherwise, he wouldn't have fallen in love so easily with Akemi. And on that topic, he's still not over Akemi. He still has a lot of baggage to unpack and move on from, before he can consider a relationship with Jodie again.

All in all, I think Jodie x Akai ship has a lot of obstacles to overcome before they can get back together. I don't hate that ship but I also feel like Jodie deserves better. But she still seems to love and care for him deeply so who knows?

As for the Akai x Shiho ship it's a big fat No from me romance-wise.
