Shortly after Neil and Andrew got the cats, Andrew texts Jean a picture of a cardboard cat with the attached message of ‘this is Sir.’ He provides absolutely no context, leaving that as the only visual Jean has to mentally attach to the cats. Jean believes him.

Jean now expects that when someone (in a very specific group of people) says they have a pet it will be made of cardboard. For a while, he thinks when Neil texts him about the cats that they have now become absolutely delusional and begun making Jeremy Knox level fictional stories and life updates for fictional animals. (If they are made of cardboard how did they break that? Stop using your cardboard cats as an excuse, Neil. You’re the one who ripped up that chair.)

This continues for a very long time, because Jean doesn’t actually say any of that to him because of conveniently being sidetracked, so when Jean meets them for the first time he just kind of blue screens. It hits him that these are real adorable animals who are not being a menace like Neil to him and the others are jealous the cats warmed up to Jean on his first visit so fast.

He tells Jeremy what he thought, and he absolutely loses it. Jean has never been so disappointed in everyone around him

how did Shadow and Omega (mainly Shadow) deal with Rouge's death? Was it Maria Robotnik all over again?

nah i don't think it would be like maria, i imagine rouge would be able to live a full life so her death wouldn't be sudden and tragic like maria's. but it would still hurt - personally i think it takes a while for shadow to come to terms with the fact that he's immortal and has to continuously watch the people he cares about die. he doesn't really allow himself much time to process his traumas so once he comes face to face with his lack of mortality it's a sorta "ah. right. everything i care about is temporary. ok cool that fucking sucks i'm gonna go sit in a cave for five years" sorta deal to me. i imagine he would be pretty reclusive after rouge's death, at least long enough for him to come to terms with it. which is probably a very long time

personally i think it would take a while for shadow to choose to live with the memories of an old friend instead of being burdened by them, but omega gets it the moment rouge is gone. omega lives by very clear rules and directives, so he simply chooses to keep living since rouge can't anymore. omega is fueled by spite and anger, but i think he's able to live 200 more years because he has a lot of love in him as well. but he probably mistakes it as rage because homeboy was only programmed with one emotion lol

but yeah i don't think rouge's death would be anything like maria's, mostly because i don't think rouge would want to leave shadow and omega with some sort of burden. i don't think she would ask them to carry on a legacy or make one final promise to her, she just wants them to continue living their lives however they want. and so when shadow and omega continue to carry her old trinkets and their memories of her, it's not because she asked them to do that - it's their own decision, simply because they love her and choose to remember. man i love team dark what the fuck

i understand why people don't think doggett was in love with scully or had feelings for her, and that people don't want to see it that way.

however...i think he did have feelings for her. but they weren't what mattered. he empathized with her. losing the father of her child, her partner (eventually her son). and he just cared about her, wanted to be there for her. he valued scully as a person, respected her as an agent, doctor & scientist, believed her as partners. he hoped like hell they would find mulder alive but never believed they would.

the same position scully was in with mulder for seven years. playing the skeptic to her believer, never pushing too hard after within/without. practically begging her to protect herself when mulder does come back but accepting her choice, and just being there in case she needs him and giving her space when she doesn't.

and i just think there's something to be said about a man who can handle rejection and not take it out on her or her partner. who embraces the friendship/relationship she offers. who moves on and doesn't harbor resentment. who can still work with her and respects her deeply.

i don't think they were feelings that endured, but i think they were there.
