My various AU Shen Jiu's
Fast Times at Cang Qiong Mountain (Aka Shen Jiu and Shang Qinghua become friends AU): Asshole but not yet abusive not has he burned all bridges. Is walked from the edge by deciding Shang Qinghua is his stupid younger brother. Also Shang Qinghua blocks all his attempts at becoming the fully fledged scum villain. 0% scum villain 100% that friend who goes to far too often
Disciple Shen Yuan Au: he wants to abuse this Shen Yuan brat SO BAD but the little shit keeps manipulating situations so it works out better for Shen Jiu if he doesn't smack that smug look of the brats face. Also he knows by the look in the brata eye that if he hits him he loses somehow and Shen Jiu HATES losing. He has abused others but he does lose the taste for it after awhile. Just because over time his unwilling attachment to the brat has opened his eyes to Shen Yuan's way of being mean with words. He's 100% a dick and would be abusive if it didn't mean losing. Would be a scum villain if left unsupervised so we'll say 60% scum villain
Plant Shen Jiu AU: 0 reform. Would 100% abuse kids if given access again and would kill Luo Binghe if he didn't know it would destroy the world and Qi-ge. Absolutely evil bastard who enjoys ruining people's day. Gets most of his sadism out of his system by a consensual but supremely unhealthy sadomasochistic relationship with Yue Qingyuan. 100% scum villain not at all reformed just has found a new calling in being a Problem without being an actual Villian

svsss 10th anniversary snippets ◀ [ 7/7 ] the new fan @ ao3 | bingqiu | disciple years inspired by this adorable art by @hootyhoowoo ✨
It starts with a walk through the town market at the foot of the Cang Qiong Mountain. Shen Qingqiu took several of his disciples on a low-level mission to teach them how to not cause more harm than good when saving a village from a havoc-wreaking beast. It’s easy to fight with reckless abandon; it’s much harder to keep the local people’s property safe while subduing the danger.
They’ve done well. As a reward, Shen Qingqiu has bought them each a tanghulu on their way back. With how their eyes shine, nobody would ever be able to tell they are young men and women but rather believe them to be little ducklings!
The ducklings have just tripped towards the mountain, chattering around the sticky treats, but Shen Qingqiu himself has stayed behind. A nearby stall has caught his eye.
“Ah, the Esteemed Master has an eye for exquisite goods!” the vendor said in a greeting, spreading his arms over his wares. “Only the highest quality here! Is this Master looking for a jade pendant to gift to his beloved? Or maybe a hair ornament to add to the guan he’s wearing?”
Before Shen Qingqiu can get a word in, the man looks to the side, where a lone duckling shyly steps closer.
“Shizun…”
The vendor smiles. “Or maybe a sword tassel for the Young Master?”
Shen Qingqiu sighs and shakes his head. “This one is simply looking.” Then, when the vendor lets him be for the moment, he glances at his disciple. “What is Binghe doing, not getting back with the others?”
Luo Binghe, who’s holding the tanghulu stick with both hands as if it’s a priceless offering rather than a common candy, pinks a little. In embarrassment, surely.
“This one was worried somebody would bother Shizun and wanted to be there to help, just in case.”
Aiya, what a sweet sheep!
“This Master doesn’t need protection,” he says gently, “but if Binghe is already here, he should stay close so nobody bothers him instead.”
“Yes, Shizun!”
Shen Qingqiu turns back to the stall and looks over the spread of the trinkets. On a closer inspection, the goods really do look quite well-crafted. His eyes are immediately drawn to the collection of hand fans. There’s quite the variety: simple fans made entirely of carved wood, bamboo and paper ones with auspicious characters and romantic poems written in elegant calligraphy, ones with painted scenes of nature…
He glances at Luo Binghe when he shifts a little closer, his eyes also on the fans.
“Does Binghe like any of them?”
Luo Binghe looks up at him, startled, then looks away just as fast. He points at the fan with two graceful cranes spreading their wings, ready to take flight, and mumbles:
“This one looks the most up to Shizun’s tastes.”
What a filial disciple, thinking of his Master first!
Warmth expands in Shen Qingqiu’s chest as he points at the fan. “I’ll take this one,” he tells the vendor. He glances sneakily at the flustered Binghe from the corner of his eye, then back at the stall’s trinkets.
Surely, a little spoiling won’t hurt? he thinks, nodding to himself. It’s just to curry favour.
“This jade pendant, too, please.”
The stall seller bows with a smile and wraps the two objects into separate parcels. “This Esteemed Master has wonderful taste, wonderful taste, indeed!”
Shen Qingqiu pays for the purchase, takes both parcels, and leaves for the entrance to the sect, Luo Binghe in tow, even if he keeps falling several steps behind from time to time.
Before they reach the bottom of the stairs, he stops and turns to the boy. He holds out the smaller parcel to him.
“As Binghe so graciously helped this Master pick his new fan, this Master picked this trinket for him.”
Binghe stares at the gift, then looks up, wide-eyed, and stares at him instead. The tanghulu is still held tightly in both his hands.
He’s… very quiet.
Shen Qingqiu can feel a drop of sweat form at his temple. Has he said something out of line…? Cover up! Must cover up!
“It’s for protection and good luck,” he says in his best Immortal Teacher voice, “but Binghe can just as well keep it and sell it later if he ever needs—”
“No!” Binghe cries, so suddenly that the mask of Shen Qingqiu’s Shizun face falters for a split second. “This Binghe will treasure it! A gift from Shizun… This one will never take it off!”
Can a chest burst from such overwhelming fondness?
Luo Binghe reaches both hands to accept the parcel with bright, bright eyes and coloured cheeks, and looks adorably distraught when he realises his hands are still too full to respectfully receive a gift.
Shen Qingqiu sighs a soft smile and unwraps the parcel. The pendant has come with a string long enough to make for a comfortable necklace.
“Shizun will put it on Binghe for him.” This way he can keep holding onto the tanghulu; a very pragmatic decision.
Luo Binghe stays very still when Shen Qingqiu carefully loops the new trinket around his neck, not a breath in or out. The string catches on the curly hair, so he gently pulls the strands away and pats them over.
There, that shouldn’t have tugged at all.
Binghe looks so moved, Shen Qingqiu can’t help himself and gives the top of his head one last headpat, before he turns towards the stairs up the mountain.
“Let’s go home, now,” he says. “Everybody must be waiting.”
It takes a while before Binghe catches up to him this time.

Yue Qi rescued Shen Jiu before getting Xuan Su AU
Why does Yue Qi need Xuan Su to go rescue Xiao Jiu? Is Qiu Jianluo Tianlang jun or something? Of course not. For sneaking someone out from a group of mortals, not even fighting them head on, Yue Qi doesn't need the power to obliterate the whole house. Or if it's for revenge, he can come back later when he's a lot more powerful. It's not like the Qiu are going anywhere. The priority is Xiao Jiu's safety. The day he departed from Xiao Jiu tells him enough how gruesome staying in that house is. That's why once Yue Qi grasps the basic on how to utilise qi, he sets to rescue Shen Jiu.
Yue Qi doesn't know his shizun's thinking enough so he wouldn't risk placing hope on shizun's favour. Asking for forgiveness is easier and a more sure way than asking for permissions after all. But just in case, Yue Qi writes a note in his room saying he's going to see his family and will be back. He waits until shizun goes out to have a meeting outside the sect, then sneaks off the mountain at night. He hires a horse with his carefully saved money and speeds to the Qiu Manor.
It takes 3 days to reach the estate. He surveys the surrounding walls and guard positions. After the sun sets, he dresses in a dark robe and covers his face. He looks up the wall on the dimmest side, channels his qi and jumps up the wall. He lurks among the trees and disarms the guards one by one until he reaches the building. He asks the servants inside with a sharp little knife to their throats of the directions to the slave compartment and to Shen Jiu's room.
It's a door with many locks but he doesn't bother stealing the keys. He just doesn't want to startle Xiao Jiu inside. He hopes Xiao Jiu is inside though. If he isn't...
Never mind.
He concentrates his qi, slams the locks, and quietly opens the door.
Xiao Jiu is crouching facing him with an anxious and wary expressions.
"Xiao Jiu."
"Qi ge! You finally came!" Xiao Jiu's face lights up.
Yue Qi steps inside. "Xiao Jiu, are you injured? Can you stand?"
"I can… But it's painful. I won't be able to run far nor fast."
"Climb onto my back. I'm bigger and stronger now. I can carry you out this time." He is having a growth spurt. Good food and a better quality of sleep really do wonders. Xiao Jiu is barely bigger than when he left him though...
By the time Yue Qi is sprinting out off the building, the Qiu has noticed the intrusion. Yue Qi moves in the shadow, jumps up the wall, and darts to the horse he tied to a tree some distance away. He puts Xiao Jiu on the horse, and rides back to the sect without dawdling. The farther away from the manor, the safer Xiao Jiu is.
He slows down in the morning only to buys Xiao Jiu food, and continue until they reach the sect. He treats Xiao Jiu with oinments, cream, and bandgaes he accumulated.
And then, what?
The sect leader is likely already back, but does he cares if a disciple sneaked off? Yue Qi hasn't stayed in the sect for that long so the sect leader hasn't taken notice of his talents or devotion.
Nevertheless surely a non sect member can't stay in the sect. Can Shen Jiu hide in Yue Qi's room without anyone noticing, maybe until the discipls selection day which may be soon or a long time away?
Or will Yue Qi beg shizun to let Shen Jiu join Cang Qiong? But this time Yue Qi hasn't been an important head disciple who has a hand in defeating Tianlang jun, nor is Shen Jiu a notable person who killed Wu Yanzi and saved said head disciple's life.
But even if Shen Jiu can't stay inside the sect, Yue Qi will give Xiao Jiu money enough for him to buy food and a room in an inn until Xiao Jiu can officially join Cang Qiong. In the meantime, Yue Qi is going to visit Shen Jiu whenever he has time, teaches him reading, cultivation, and gives him books and a head start for the upcoming disciple selection day.
Surely this would be #competent Yue Qingyuan, more so than in canon.
---
I imagine if the sect leader knows when Yue Qi sneaked out off the sect maybe through a talisman, or an array imbued in Yue Qi's property, maybe the name tag that's used to pass through the sect barrier, maybe he will send some people to retrieve Yue Qi, and finds out that the Qiu has taken Yue Qi back as their slave because they remember him being another slave with Shen Jiu, and Yue Qi miscalculates, is underprepared, and is captured. And the sect is really angry someone dares to enslave their disciple so they tear down the Qiu, and Yue Qi and Shen Jiu are freed...

Heavenly Demon Baby Fever pt.4
Part 1; Part 2; Part 3
BingQiu get baby fever. Tentatively rated M instead of T.
x-x-x-x-x
Despite spending most of his time traveling the world carrying out all of Luo Binghe’s roleplay fantasies, Shen Qingqiu tried to set a good example for his disciples by never neglecting his Peak Lord duties. He made sure that his and Luo Binghe’s visits to Cang Qiong Mountain coincided with Peak Lord meetings whenever possible. He usually enjoyed these meetings…meaning he enjoyed opportunity to put on his finest poser act and learn all the Peak Lord gossip he had missed while he was away.
That wasn’t the case on this particular day. Shen Qingqiu woke up feeling ill to the point that he couldn’t even attempt to hide it from his husband. Luo Binghe, of course, fretted and clung and conveniently tried to coax him to stay in bed, but Shen Qingqiu had refused to compromise his morals.
And so, Shen Qingqiu dragged himself all the way to Qiong Ding Peak, took his customary seat by his sect leader, and braced himself for a long meeting. The Peak Lords engaged in their usual chatter as they waited for the meeting to begin.
“Shen-shixiong, try this new wine I made!”
“Is it really appropriate for us to drink before the meeting has even begun?” Shen Qingqiu demurred.
“Fine, fine, you don’t have to drink now. You can drink with us later at Zui Xian Peak! Just give it a smell for now.”
Shen Qingqiu obligingly gave the jar of wine a sniff. He froze then. The one sniff had made his head spin, and not in a good way.
“Excuse me,” he muttered.
He stuffed the jar of wine back into his shidi’s hand and then he rushed out of the hall.
“En? What’s wrong with Shen-shixiong?”
“Is that new wine of yours really that bad?” someone teased.
The wine-making Peak Lord bristled. “If shixiong thinks so, then I won’t trouble him to try my wine from now on.”
“Shidi, I was wrong!”
Shen-shixiong was in fact finding a quiet spot in Qiong Ding Peak’s ornamental gardens to puke up his entire breakfast.
Motherfucker. Shen Qingqiu was supposed to be immune from all disease thanks to his regular medical appointments with the Heavenly Pillar. What kind of unscientific bs was this?
He tidied his appearance and made his miserable way back to his seat. Yue Qingyuan had considerately waited to start the meeting until Shen Qingqiu returned. Shen Qingqiu was embarrassed. He’d only come because he didn’t like making trouble for his kind shixiong when he could help it, and look what had come of it!
Shen Qingqiu strictly admonished himself to endure any further discomfort. But he had to run back outside again when it was the Ku Xing Peak leader turn to speak. He liked to angrily wave his hands around when he spoke, wafting an acrid smell around the room. It wasn’t particularly unpleasant, just a side-effect of always meditating using rare incense. But it wasn’t particularly nice either. Shen Qingqiu for some reason could not bear the scent today.
He apologized to Yue Qingyuan under his breath before he fled. His only consolation was that his absence this time was shorter: He had already found Qiong Ding Peak’s ideal secret puking spot! He gave himself a little achievement badge in his mind and then tried to sneak back into the meeting. Yue Qingyuan frowned at him in concern when he returned.
“Shidi, is everything alright?” Yue Qingyuan asked.
Shen Qingqiu smiled tightly as he fanned the cold sweat off his face. He wished Luo Binghe were here. If he were, Shen Qingqiu wouldn’t even have to say anything. Luo Binghe would quietly place before him a tray of mild tea and a light snack to settle his stomach. But Cang Qiong Mountain Sect had mysteriously done away with the tradition of having peak lords bring their top disciples along with them to regular sect meetings.
“Of course. Let shidi continue.”
The Ku Xing Peak leader gladly resumed his diatribe about kids these days who preferred fast-fashion cultivation styles over committing to Ku Xing’s steady, tried and true cultivation style. Shen Qingqiu was a little piqued -since when was Qing Jing Peak’s cultivation style unreliable?- but he couldn’t focus on that once the servants brought forth trays of snacks to place before each peak lord.
A sickly-sweet smell rose up from something on the tray, and Shen Qingqiu had to abruptly leave the meeting again.
When he came back, his fellow peak lords didn’t bother to hide their gossiping.
“—probably from some exotic demonic cuisine.”
“The air can’t be wholesome in those underground palaces either, not when he’s used to Qing Jing Peak’s pure air.”
“And don’t forget those qi deviations he used to have,” someone whispered. “It can’t be good for his core that he’s dual-cultivating with a Heavenly Demon all of the time.”
“Shixiong!” someone replied with a delighted and faux-scandalized gasp.
Shen Qingqiu cleared his throat at the door. Once everyone had shut up and noticed his return, he swept a trademark cold look around the table. Then he made his dignified way back to his seat.
He almost made it. As he prepared to gracefully take his seat, Liu Qingge suddenly appeared beside him and grabbed one of his arms.
“…What is the meaning of this, Liu-shidi?”
Liu Qingge ignored him and turned to Mu Qingfang.
“Will you come here, or do I drag him over?”
Mu Qingfang looked at Shen Qingqiu apologetically before glancing over at Yue Qingyuan. Shen Qingqiu likewise looked over. Surely Yue Qingyuan would put a stop to this nonsense!
…Yue Qingyuan lowered his eyes to sip at his tea. Before Shen Qingqiu could even voice a complaint over this betrayal, Qi Qingqi had showed up to grab Shen Qingqiu’s other arm and help drag Sheng Qingqiu over to Mu Qingfang.
“Shixiong!” Shen Qingqiu whined at Yue Qingyuan, who ignored him. Shen Qingqiu turned to pout at Liu Qingge. “This is completely unnecessary.”
“It would have been unnecessary, if that disciple had taken care of you the way he promised he would,” Qi Qingqi scolded.
Shen Qingqiu drew himself up in indignation. He got as far as “Binghe takes care of me perfectly well,” before his brain caught up. When had Luo Binghe promised to take care of him? To whom had he promised? Had Qi Qingqi secretly given Luo Binghe the shovel talk? Why had Luo Binghe said nothing of it to Shen Qingqiu, his husband?
By the time Liu Qingge took Shen Qingqiu’s hand and held it out in front of Mu Qingfang, Shen Qingqiu was feeling disgruntled with everyone. He barely even cared about the results of this silly health check. It wasn’t like it could be anything serious: Dual-cultivating with Heavenly Demons was very good for one’s health, whatever that ignorant person had whispered earlier.
Mu Qingfang cleared his throat and said, “Liu-shixiong will have to let go of Shen-shixiong’s hand first.”
Liu Qingge gave Shen Qingqiu a stern glare before releasing his hand as if he thought Shen Qingqiu would flee at the first opportunity. Shen Qingqiu resisted the urge to stick his tongue out at him. One of these days, he was going to release a nest of demonic hornets on Bai Zhan Peak. See if Bai Zhan Peak Lord could fight hornets. Or maybe demonic mosquitoes. Demonic mosquitoes would be quite formidable after feeding off Liu Qingge’s spiritual energy-rich blood.
Mu Qingfang undoubtedly saw the evil thoughts on Shen Qingqiu’s face and feared that they were directed at him.
“May I?” he asked.
Shen Qingqiu thought it over, realized it would be better to get it over with sooner, and nodded coolly.
“You may,” he said magnanimously.
This dramatic mess wasn’t Mu-shidi’s fault, after all.
Mu Qingfang took Shen Qingqiu’s hand and read his pulse. Everyone in the room, from the peak lords and little An Ding disciples to the servants, scooted closer to listen in on the diagnosis.
Mu Qingfang’s expression was calm as he focused on his work. Then his face turned pale. Then it gradually reddened.
“What is it?” Liu Qingge demanded, before even Shen Qingqiu asked.
Mu Qingfang let go of Shen Qingqiu’s hand and began to cough violently. Shen Qingqiu became a little uneasy. Mu Qingfang had been quite composed when he told Shen Qingqiu about his Without a Cure poisoning. Then again, Shen Qingqiu had been unconscious when Mu Qingfang had made the diagnosis.
…In any case, it couldn’t be anything worse than Without a Cure, could it? Shen Qingqiu mentally went over his activities in the past few days. He and Luo Binghe had…just the night before, after they had arrived at Qing Jing Peak, so what could have attacked him in the course of the morning? Were there really already demonic mosquitos on Cang Qiong Mountain? How could they have dared to bite him with Luo Binghe around?
“Mu Qingfang,” Liu Qingge insisted.
Mu Qingfang cleared his throat once more and managed to pull himself together.
“Shen-shixiong is well,” he announced.
“As if we’d believe that,” Qi Qingqi complained. “What was that reaction for, then?”
Mu Qingfang reddened again. “False alarm!”
Shen Qingqiu opened his fan with a sigh. He appreciated his shidi’s efforts to be discrete even though they were completely useless. He didn’t know why his sect siblings had to be so nosy. It was probably some wife-plot disease that Lou Binghe -or rather, the Heavenly Pillar- would resolve two days from now during their scheduled sex session.
“Stop badgering him. Mu-shidi will tell me in private later and if,” he emphasized, “it is any of your business, I may share the news.”
“Boo,” someone jeered under their breath.
Shen Qingqiu ignored it. He straightened out the little wrinkles Liu Qingge and Qi Qingqi had made on his sleeves and returned to his seat. Yue Qingyuan finally re-established order. Shen Qingqiu decided not to worry about it. He had gotten pretty good at dealing with Shang Qinghua’s shitty wife plots, after all.

"Linguan-Jun and Mu Qingfang together" That just hit me like a shark hurled out from a tornado
I need to know more
Okay, so I'm kinda writing a fic with this? It's not the focus (though I'm really tempted to write a follow-up when it will be) but it goes something like this:
For a start, I'm kinda using this idea as a jumping off point. Tl;dr.: Linguang-jun is not much older than our Mobei-jun, but he's essentially doing all the managerial positions in the Northern Palace because his brother sucks. There's a whole bonding moment between Qinghua and Linguang-jun over making a stupidly big party happen on a stupidly short deadline, because once again, the current Mobei-jun sucks. Afterwards Qinghua gets his Mobei and Linguang-jun to talk through the whole losing-baby-Mobei-in-the-human-realm incident and reconcile.
So when a few weeks later Mobei finds his uncle sick and passed out with a high fever, he takes him to the safest place he knows: Qinghua's apartment. Qinghua gets jumpscared by his System doing a doom countdown and a quest implying Linguang-jun will die if he's not treated, runs off to the medicine peak to steal some drugs.
There he runs into head disciple Mu, who is very concerned about why his hamster shidi is trying to steal very serious meds. And insists on helping whatever sick friend Shang-shidi is hiding...
So Mu Qingfang gets involved (and he drags in Yue Qingyuan and Shen Qingqiu too, but they are not that important) and treats Linguang-jun, who wakes up a few days later and the first thing he sees is the very handsome disciple Mu tending to him. And since the universe still mostly runs of yellow book logic, "handsome healer nursing someone back to health from the brink of death" is a very powerful instant-falling-in-love plot device.
So Mu Qingfang gets a demon suitor. Linguang-jun can't sneak onto the peaks the way Mobei can, so he keeps hounding him when he's out doing his rounds off the mountain. Pros: fast travel with handsome, rich demon is convenient and comfy. He can get his hands on all the demon realm ingredients his heart desires. Cons: Linguang-jun doesn't do subtle. Like, at all. Half the countryside is talking about the 'rich young master with the permanent wardrobe malfunction' courting healer Mu. All the head disciples in the know are running interference to cover for them (thank fuck the An generation is ascending soon, Mu Qingfang's shizun would have a heart attack if she heard that there's a demon courting her smart little cabbage).
Shang Qinghua finds it really funny. Mobei-jun is taking notes on how to court a future peak lord. Yue Qingyuan and Shen Qingqiu set their conflict aside to keep their shidis and their idiot demons out of trouble.
Fun times and severe headaches are had by all. The wedding is going to be a blast, done entirely in human-style and arranged by Mu Qingfang's family and Cang Qiong, because Linguang-jun absolutely refuses to do any amount of organizing for his own goddamn wedding. Let someone else work for a change, you know?

SQH Time
Welcome to my SQH AUs! I've been making progress in filling out the peaks, so here's a round-up of what we have so far (everything rated T for Teen):
***
Peak 1: Yue Qingyuan
M/M, one-sided
~5,000 words
Summary:
The plan had seemed simple. It was a “for want of a nail,” situation, wasn’t it?
If Yue Qingyuan hadn’t been locked in the Ling Xi caves, he would have made it to the Qiu estate in time to rescue Xiao Jiu. If Shen Qingqiu was not a bitter person with ruined cultivation, he would not be so jealous of young Luo Binghe. And if Shen Qingqiu did not torment Luo Binghe when he was a disciple, and if Yue Qingyuan did not simply let it happen out of guilt, Luo Binghe would not have a reason to destroy Cang Qiong Mountain Sect.
So all Shang Qinghua had to do to save this ill-fated world (and most importantly, his own skin) was stop a young and desperate Yue Qingyuan from trying to force a connection with his future spiritual sword too soon.
Easier said than done.
Read here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/45829402
***
Peak 2: Shen Qingqiu
M/M
~12,000 words
Summary:
Alternatively titled, Shang Qinghua never met a meet-cute he couldn't screw up.
The story of how a pre-canon Shang Qinghua came to mean something to a future scum villain.
Read here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/33251491
***
Peak 3: Wei Qingwei
M/M
~13,000 words
Summary:
“Your shishu over on An Ding Peak has finally selected a successor, but the boy doesn’t have a sword yet. I want you to escort him to the sword wall and make sure it’s done.”
Wei Qingwei gets to know Shang Qinghua a little better as a result.
Read here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/36499450
***
Peak 4: Shang Qinghua
***
Peak 5: Qi Qingqi
M/F, FWB
~5,000 words
Summary:
Qi Qingqi had heard it said that a woman’s heart was moved by admiration, while a man’s heart was moved by pity, but she’d always felt it was the other way around.
a.k.a Qi Qingqi takes her duties as Shang Qinghua's wingwoman seriously.
Read here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/37415377
***
Peak 6: Unknown Peak/Peak Lord
(I have some ideas for this with a female OC, but haven't started it yet)
***
Peak 7: Liu Qingge
M/M
~10,000 words
Summary:
Liu Qingge was beautiful, and delicate, or so everyone assumed when they saw him, and he hated it.
Shang Qinghua was the big, dumb packmule of An Ding. Or so Liu Qingge first assumed.
But Shang Qinghua is cursed with very, very bad luck and Liu Qingge is about the only cultivator strong enough, fast enough, and resourceful enough to keep him out of harm's (or at least inconvenience's) way. When the two are assigned as mission partners, Liu Qingge steps up.
Read here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/37841869
***
Peak 8: Mu Qingfang
Platonic
~8,000 words
Summary:
This boy who always scurries off as soon as the lecture ends in a flurry of papers is never in the dining hall, has no bed in the dorms, and no shift in the infirmary. Asking around about him only gets Mu Fang blank looks and shrugs.
Whoever he is, and whatever color he may wear, he's not a Qian Cao disciple.
Read here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/39710568
***
Peak 9: Ascetic Peak (~OC)
Platonic
~4,000 words
Summary:
Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky was an anti-social agoraphobic loser if there ever was one, albeit one with a talent for writing highly addictive and wildly entertaining stories. Who would live that kind of shitty, isolated life except by choice?
Wang Qingjie, Peak Lord of Ku Xing Peak, had a secret of his own, that should his fellow sect members been aware of it, would have had them shouting it from the rooftops for their own gain—which was why he had never revealed it.
Read here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/53544574
***
Peak 10: Brewing Peak (~OC)
M/M, FWB
~4,000 words
Summary:
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a man in possession of a bad work environment, must be in want of a co-worker to go out for drinks with so they can shit-talk everyone else.
For Shang Qinghua, that co-worker is the peak lord of Zui Xian Peak.
Read here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/41856288
***
Peak 11: Unknown Peak/Peak Lord
***
Peak 12: Unknown Peak/Peak Lord
((I have some ideas for this with a male OC, but haven't started it yet)
***
Demon 1: Sha Hualing
Platonic
~13,000 words
Summary:
This is not a “raising the protagonist” fic. This is a “raising the protagonist’s future wife” fic. Or rather, it’s Shang Qinghua trying to be a mentor to a teenage (demon) girl with anger management issues and bad decision making skills, and his debatable success.
Read here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/40737696
***
And that's all, folks!
(I have some ideas for a Luo Binghe one, and a Tianlang-Jun one in the works as well)

Kiss HER not ME Part 2
Part One [Previous] Part Three [Next]: Not written Yet.
So Gongyi Xiao ends up taking the attention of Shen Qingqiu! Oh no- as well as Luo Binghe this is the cross roads where Binghe will decide wether its better to keep Gongyi Xiao in the palace along with a select few of disciples as his followers before he replaces them with demons.
Also fair warning this chapter is...ALL over the place and a bit confusing because I've wrote scenes from the first part HERE instead so the present past future times keeps changing sorry in advance.
So how did Gongyi fall from grace sheer incompetence. As the work load picked up Gongyi struggled but binghe throved he was used to fast paced desisions thanks to his bipolar Shizun on Qing Jing so he adapted easily but the more it went on the more Gongyi struggled then he ‘forgot’ certain duties although he uses that lightly ‘forgot!?’ More like his siblings didn’t do their work meanwhile binghe took no nonsense so after one too many mistakes he had to suffer the praise given to binghe while the palace master expressed his disappointment.
He shouldn’t take it to heart but did he have to make him feel this small?
Then they sparred when Gongyi lost a humiliating defeat the palace Master watching announced binghe become the new head disciple.
Finally Gongyi can sign in relief. It was finally over!
But he noticed the looks on the martial siblings as one shoulder checked him he blinked. Where did that come from?
______________________________________________________
When the old Palace Master confronted Gongyi Xiao with his letters, Gongyi Xiao had had enough. The abuse from his fellow disciples, the on and off treatment of Luo Binghe, the stress from Shen Qingqiu.
"If this one wanted to leave, wouldn't he had done so with the arrival of Luo Binghe or when you made him head disciple?" Instead of taking all of this abuse, he left unsaid.
"The letters this one made was with the forsight that this disciple might be Palace Master one day, the letters were to create ties and a stronger alliance with the other sects. Once Luo Binghe was made Head Disciple this one had plenty of time to leave, given that this disciple has not done so is more than evidence enough of where is loyaltys lie." He looked at Luo Binghe hoping he would be smart enough to figure it out, and that the old man was too dumb to let this slip.
"That this one promises to serve the Palace master." Which would be Luo Binghe after he astablished his base.
"And what of this new relationship with Shen Qingqiu?" The Old Palace Master spoke still looking down his nose at Gongyi Xiao.
"This one has no intention to be closer to Shen Qingqiu if it wasn't for Luo Binghe." Gongyi Xiao spoke, "This one may be inpudentent, but this disciple found it strange that Luo Binghe in all his time here recuperating, and had the chance to reach out to Cang Qiong but never took that opportunity. He never once reached out to his home sect Cang Qiong mountain or his old Shizun and instead remained here and asked to be a disciple here. This one isn't blind to the rumours that Shen Qingqiu abuses his students, that he may have lied about Luo Binghes death from the Immortal Alliance, is it strange that this disciple wanted to follow up and investiagte this? Is this not the sect of Honour and Justice?" Gongyi Xiao spoke overally passionate.
He knew Luo Binghe wanted rid off him, this was his last death flag but if he could communicate that he was creating an opening to make it easier to trap Shen Qingqiu the better!
Luo Binghes looked unfazed, but glanced at the Old Palace Master "So a spy, to go undetected at Cang Qiong to prove the evidence against Shen Qingqiu. This Disciple sees merit with this proposal."
The Old Palace master stroked his beard and watched him with beady eyes "Ah, this could be the opening we needed. And all these letters?"
Gongyi Xiao KNEW he should've burned them.
"As this one said, if this Gongyi Xiao wanted to accept any positions the window has long passed...Huan Hua is my home," he glanced at Binghe "If you still want me."
Luo Binghes lip almost twitched, "Until Shen Qingqiu requests a meeting all we can do is wait." The Old Palace Master "It calms me deeply, to know that our Gongyi Xiao is still loyal to Huan Hua." Gongyi Xiao nodded with a bow.
"This one will do anything for Huan Hua, that was never in question."
The old palace Master descended the dais and drew Gongyi Xiao into a hug, the other stiffened immedietly wanting the other to back off and let go.
The Old Palace Master stroked his back, "This Master always had faith in Gongyi, he will be an excellent spy and expose Shen Qingqiu for the leecher he is."
Okay yes now please let go!
As the Palace Master let go, Gongyi glanced at Luo Binghe to see the others dark look.
__________________________________________________________
In the times waiting for Shen Qingqiu- although Gongyi xiao had a feeling the other forgot about him, both he and the other disciples were tasked for a mission.
With Luo Binghe leading it.
There was a demon rampaging the city, at this point Gongyi Xiaos death date has already past. The fact that he was living another day was a blessing.
And yet as all the Huan Hua disciples were fighting the Lily-flight Toad, it was of course what it looked like. A giant Toad that wouldn't keep still that had a lily on top of its head a disguise as it lay beneith the water and with its large tongue swallowed people up like flies.
But the worst part, it's tongue had a paralising effect in its slyvia that shuts down all functions temporarilly. This was when Qin wanrong was affected and Luo Binghe had to nurse her to health in a local inn. It was an upcoming papapa scene and Gongyi Xiao wouldn't mind being a wingman and taking the disciples home once Luo Binghe starts his heroics.
So of course it went wrong.
Qin Wanrong was in the wrong place at the wrong time and ended up falling into the nearby lake and was saved by one of the Huan Hua disciples as Luo Binghe was distracted by her scream of his name the toad landed right before him it's mouth snapping open as its tongue thrusted out.
If Binghe was struck and failed to be paralised even low IQ disciples would be confused and question it!
"BINGHE!"
Gongyi Xiao rushed forward pushing the other out the way-
and was slammed with the paralctic tongue.
Eff your mother! Gongyi Xiao Shouted, with limited time swiped his sword up and sliced the tongue. With the main factor dealt with Binghe and the disciples had a chance to defeat it.
Gongyi Xiao leapt back but could already feel one arm and the side of his face becomming numb, why did this feel awful and embarrising? All the girls just feinted prettily but Gongyi felt as if his face was swollen!
Raising his working hand he used qi to aim his sword to blind one eye but his sword wobbled then fell before it could strike the second eye.
"Binghe- the throat! It is the Weak spot!" He called out his eyes slipping shut as he collapsed backwards, the only thing he could hear was the others fighting the thing and hoping Binghe got it.
Even though he couldn't move he could still hear and feel things. So when he heard the sound of the monster collapse the ground rumbling the immediete quiet unnerved him.
Then he heard footsteps crunching through the grass as they approached. He knew it was Binghe, he felt his heartbeat thudder in his chest. Binghe could kill him right here, this could be how he died!
"Luo-Shixiong! How about we just leave him!" One of the Huan Hua disciples jeered, it was the same pock faced one that always loved to beat him up with or without Binghes approval.
Gongyi Xiao could feel himself sweat as he could feel Luo Binghe tower over him, did he have Xin Mo? Was he going to pierce his chest?
Instead there was a sound as Luo Binghe seemed to lean closer, Gongyi Xiao might just do him a favour and die of a heart attack Binghe barely had to lift a finger!
Instead he felt something touch his side and if he could move he would flinch away from it. Then realised he was being picked up, and held against something warm and if his face would flush it would- that was Binghes heartbeat!
"Where's the nearest Inn?" Luo Binghe asked one of the disciples even with his eyes shut, he could sense the awkwardness from the others.
"Um, its not too far from here but uh- wouldn't it be best to just leave him?"
Luo Binghe was silent for a moment before he spoke "This Shidi saved this ones life, that ought to be repaid."
Oh...oh he did it! A kindness and cruelty payed back tenfold!
He was officially safe! If he could he would do a victory wiggle!
Gongyi Xiao felt the wind on his face as the others flew towards the inn, outside Luo Binghe instructed the others to return to the palace without him while he takes care of his Shidi here.
Gongyi Xiao was too busy being relieved from his potential death than he never noticed or even realised how it looked.
How the tenents and the innkeeper and waiters saw a handsome young man carrying another handsome man in his arms in a bridal carry, how the others face was tucked into the others chest.
Others thought it looked strangely romantic, and at the older mans expression as he pleaded for a room the innkeeper practically leapt to help.
"Of course, is the young master okay?"
"He was attacked by a monster, hopefully the effects will wear off we just need one room for tonight."
The innkeeper nodded while the others stared, not many people can see this sight ever again!
Meanwhile Gongyi Xiao was applauding Luo Binghes performance.
As Gongyi Xiao was placed on the bed he felt Luo Binghe drift away and gave a sigh of relief. All he had to do was channel his qi and burn this through his system, unlike Qin wanwrong who needed...pa...pa-
Shit!
If Gongyi Xiao could move he would be slapping himself in the face! He just took Qin Wanwrongs place! Goddammit!
Well its fine, he's seen the women leave Luo Binghes rooms at the Huan Hua Palace, so he knows its fine, the harem is fine. Plus she wasn't going to be affected anyway so its okay!
As he waited he could hear Luo Binghe approach the man was silent and Gongyi Xiao felt himself break out in a cold sweat- will he stop doing that! It was freaking him out!
Then again sweating this through would probably work out for him.
Then he felt a cold hand touch his forehead and wondered what Luo Binghe was doing.
"Hmm...This Shidi of mine isn't as useless as I thought, Master." Luo Binghe spoke allowed probably to Meng Mo...wait, did he think Gongyi was unconcious?
"If this Lord was struck the Paraylictic would have no effect on me, the others would've grown suspicious. And he had no idea if this was fatal." Luo Binghe thumb brushed over Gongyi's forehead and Gongyi Xiao shivered.
"A spy...just like Mobei-Juns pet. His actions have kept the others in the dark, if it came out this one was a demon before my plans were brought to fruition would make this effort worthless." Protagonist! Stop outing yourself! What if Gongyi Xiao wasn't unconcious!?!?!?
Binghe moved away and Gongyi Xiao relaxed, there was so much stress a body can take...
Of course Luo Binghe did this on purpose, he could see the sweat on the others face, the furrowed brow and knew the other could hear him. He wanted to see what this Shidi of his did with such knowledge.
As he kept circulating Qi through his meridians and could feel his fingers twitch and his eyelids flutter- almost got it!
Its like a couch potato reaching for the remote- almost there!
Suddenly Luo Binghe took his hand and his arm full on spasmed, he heard Luo Binghe chuckle as he feed Qi through his wrist. "Shidi is so strong, to be recovering this quickly." He spoke outloud.
Binghe! This one isn't unconcious! Stop revealing your secrets damn you!
Along with Binghes help, it was a fast process as Gongyi Xiaos eyes fluttered open. "B-Binghe?" He spoke his words still slurring guess that will take a while.
Luo Binghe kept his hand on his wrist. "That was very foolish to jump in the way of an attack."
Gongyi Xiao just stared at Luo Binghe who looked to be concentrating on his wrist. Gongyi Xiao looked away. "This one just reacted on impulse, the worst that could happen is being paralised. This Shidi knew that Luo-Shixiong would be strong enough to defeat the demon, it made more sense." Gongyi Xiao spoke looking off to the side, now that he had more feeling he was able to sit up then scowled that he still couldn't feel his legs. He knew it would wear off but still this was terrfying ten/ten would not recocmend!
"Can you move?" Luo Binghe asked, and Gongyi Xiao grimaced "The feeling has yet to return in my legs." He looked at Binghe in a 'what can you do?' motion the other leaned forward into Gongyi Xiaos space and the other felt lost for a second until he felt Luo Binghe place his hands under his arms then raised him up in a sitting position, he then rearanged the pillows behind his back to prop him and Gongyi Xiao immedietly flushed.
This was the demon emporor!
"Bing- Luo-Shixiong, it's okay! This one will feel better in no time, so theres no need!" He tried to placate, Luo Binghe continued on with the same fake smile on his face.
"This is the least this Shixiong can do, after Shidi saved his life."
Still, now Gongyi Xiao felt bad...but surely Binghe knew the effects of the Lily-Flight Toad wasn't dangerous?
"Shidi should circulate his Qi to burn the paralysis venom from his body, this Shixiong will be back in a moment."
Gongyi Xiao tilted his head as he watched Luo Binghe leave the room shutting the door softly behind him, Gongyi Xiao continued on but he was tired. He cursed this cultivation novel any excuse to down a wife into a bed means any fuana, demon or poison will immedietly make someone bed ridden for those types of events.
Luckily Gongyi Xiao didn't need the heavenly pillar for this [could you imagine? How funny would that be ha ha ha]
So as Gongyi Xiao was concentrating his eyes growing heavy, the door slide open and he flinched startled to see Binghe walking back in with a tray of food---how long was he drifting in and out for!?
"Here, this will give you back your strength." Luo Binghe spoke as he placed the tray before Gongyi Xiao. Gongyi fidgeted, really this was too much. Luo Binghe should never be subservient to ANYONE well unless its a wife because he's a stallion protagonist.
Gongyi Xiao, could only thank Luo Binghe alot, the Demon Lord could of used a Huan Hua disciple to watch over Gongyi and skipped home to his adoring wives.
It just made Gongyi Xiao feel worse.
Luo Binghe sat at his bed, watching Gongyi Xiao looking at his food with a morose expression on his face, he wondered if the spoiled 'princess' would stick his nose up at the local inn food.
Not knowing Luo Binghe cooked it. He would've put his parisites in it, but he wanted to wait. It was better not to waste his time in case Gongyi Xiao ended up disapointing him like so many others.
The other raised his hands to take the bowl and took a bite of the food and immiedietly stiffened.
Gongyi Xiao chewed it slowly still stiff, Luo Binghe felt more irritated that the Huan brat would dare hate this- his wives sang their praise all the time! If Luo Binghe was terrible at anything at least the only thing he excelled at was his food.
"y-you cooked this...why?" Gongyi Xiao asked looking up at Luo Binghe with wide eyes.
Luo Binghe barely let any emotion on his face, he couldn't show weakness such as anger.
"Yes. This one made this for his Shidi."
Gongyi Xiao looked more puzzled "Y-you didn't have to do that, it's too much," And yet his hand moved stuffing more into his face and Luo Binghe realised Gongyi Xiao didn't hate it.
"Of course, it's this ones job to look after his Shidis...how did you know I cooked it?" He asked.
Here Gongyi Xiao paused rice stuck to the side of his lips as he looked back up and looked bashful. "Um, the food was too delicious to come from a place like this, and all of Huan Hua sing your praises of your food...it was also a lucky guess." Gongyi Xiao shrugged using the chopsticks to get every last piece.
"This is really good, if you could use cooking in your cultivation I'm sure loads of sects will want Luo Binghe to be their disciple."
Luo Binghe laughed "This one doubts you can make food a cultivation technqiue."
Gongyi Xiao placed his chopsticks down as he was finished.
"Well the same could be said for music, and people use the qin to commune or exorsize spirits, with flowers being good for cultivation or opening pathways for meridians as well as demonic meat you could potentially create concoctions for cultivators...just a thought."
Gongyi Xiao had to internally grin, he would change it from PIDW to Food wars instead, Luo Binghe as the knockoff anime gorden ramsley!
"This one will think about it."
of course Gongyi Xiao thought glancing back at the bowl, he did guess that maybe Luo Binghe spiked the food with his blood parasites...he won't know for sure until Binghe activates them.
He'd just have to wait and see....
__________________________________________________________
So since Binghe didn't feed him the parasites above thats BECAUSE after watching his dreams and seeing Gongyi Xiao finally beat up his shixiongs and Gongyi Xiao realised this was audition times as any Disciple who didn't perform well would be cut and made to leave as this was the first day that the Old palace Master went to into secluded cultivation.
Since all the disciples grew cocky, everyone watched as Gongyi Xiao wiped the floor with them, finally releasing his pent up frustration and defeating them in seconds. So while Luo Binghe is visitng Mobei-Jun and his [bed] the two are discussing and thats when Luo Binghe makes the decision to create a dream realm and bring in Mobei-Jun and make Gongyi Xiao his left hand for Huan Hua.
When they wake from the dream, Mobei-Jun is pissed because demons are territorial even if it was just casual with no strings Luo Binghe did this on puprose to rile him up. He always teases Mobei-Jun that his little mouse is too weak for demons but Luo Binghe can keep up and take whatever.
When Luo Binghe arrives at Huan Hua he see's that Gongyi Xiao is PISSED and would wonder why if it wasn't so attractive especially when he kept beating up Disciples and one was on the ground begging Luo Binghe to help Gongyi has finally lost it!
[In this sequence as they enter a room, Gongyi Xiao teaches Luo Binghe to sense a room for any hidden tailsmans or two trick mirrors, something the palace mistress was supposed to teach him but given that Binghes room was FULL of them made him wonder how fare the two have gotten. Also ew the old man was defiently listening in to Binghe having sex with his wives]
Gongyi Xiao gets pissy because he KNEW Luo Binghe was a demon but now he doesn't have plausible denibality! This sucks! Why couldn't he just keep it a secret a little longer? And Binghe says hard to do when his demons are now going to be stationed at Huan Hua so it was better to get him used to it.
So it later comes out in other chapters of the question Luo Binghe asks "Wait, you already knew?" Which reveals the story of Su Xiyan and Tianglang-Jun and how the Palace Master mentioned how familiar you looked and the Luo River was close to Huan Hua.
But anyway the whole blood parasites comes in on the THRONE ROOM. In a cool way when Gongyi Xiao kneels before Luo Binghe who is sprawled on the throne and lifts his hand that he sliced open and Gongyi Xiao takes the head and drinks the blood from the palm.
So Gongyi Xiao is thinking. Yay safe awesome! He was officially Luo Binghes lackey, everything is going great!
Not realising him being on his knees in the throne room ALONE with Binghe, the other clenched his hand in the throne and Gongyi Xiaos eyes looked up startled, the blood staining his mouth.
"Does it hurt?" He asked one hand holding onto Luo Binghes and the other scowled "No. Continue."
Luo Binghe was so lucky that Gongyi Xiao was oblivious, but if he crossed his legs now that would only draw attention to it.
Of course he shows Mobei-Jun in the dream realm, since Mobei-Jun is pining for Shang QInghua and by holding back his urges from killing him asks Binghe to create a dream based on scenarios where Mobei-Jun left Shang Qinghua in his study or gave him a task. But in his dreams he took whatever chance he could to bend the rat over and FINALLY relieve some pent up stress.
And it was only FAIR. That mobei-JUn shares Binghes pain, since he was so accomidating over the other. So of course Mobei-Jun is at the pillar on his right hand side as he tilts his head watching the 'scene' his Junshang WISHES would've happened instead of Gongyi Xiao walking away unscathed.
For a pair of powerful demons...they sure are patheticly pining after two weak humans. Mobei-Juns lip twitched. If their ancestors and forefathers saw them.
[Tianglang-Jun would approve.]
[So yeah big POLY relationship, minus Gongyi Xiao doesn't really do sex, he waits until the orgys over then comes in with water, towels and the post glow cuddles not knowing he's the STAR in everyones fantasies.]
___________________________________________________________
On another mission [randomly] Gongyi Xiao went night hunting, to think he was alive to think he could still send letters and fuana to Mu Qingfan to think even Binghe was interested in his garden!
Things were really looking up!
But of course he came across a tiny Monty Python Rhino a baby one at that and couldn't help but coo, it was so cute! Of course that meant it's mother had to be near so he should be careful...just a peak wouldn't hurt.
As he appeared non threatening and held out a branch of berries wondering if it would bite he felt wind blow on the back of his neck. He immedietly leapt upwards avoiding the blow of the Rhino. Ah theres the mother!
He leapt to and throw trying to get a good look, it was far away from any civilisation so he didn't have to worry about killing it. As I sat on his sword pulling out his beastiary and doting down the features- one moment he was being careful but then the Rhino began to charge towards him. He figured he was safe from this height but as the rhino leapt Gongyi Xiao almost fell of his sword as it was hurtling right towards him!
He cried out trying to draw back then whoosh!
He shut his eyes feeling his heart pounding against his chest, until he felt the wind slapping against his face when he opened them he was flying away at a breakneck speed and something was holding him around his middle.
He looked up and gaped to see a cultivator all in black with lilac colouring and his face was covered. This man just saved his life!
Once they were safe did the cultivator drop Gongyi on his ass and gave him a judmental look. "Are you stupid or something?" The man asked and Gongyi Xiao felt affronted.
"This one was just documenting a species for his beastiary. This disciple thanks esteemed immortal master..." Gongyi Xiao bowed waiting before the other scoffed looking away "Bozhan Liu."
Hmm, that sounded familiar...Gongyi Xiao nodded "Thanking Master Bozhan." Gongyi Xiao resehathed his sword and placed his book into his pocket as he approached. "What brings you out here?" Gongyi Xiao asked tilting his head to the side.
[And in this moment, was when Gongyi Xiao, wifebeamed Liu Qingge the wargod in disguise [sorry for the spoiler but I will write it properally since Shang Qinghua warned Sqq about getting help he did save Liu Qingge with his shidi being all knowing/working with demons Sqq made Liu Qingge lay low and pretend to be dead to draw out Cang Qiongs enemies and with his life debt Liu had no choice but to obey. So laying low he came across this dumbfuck of a cultivator teasing Monty Python Rhinos and almost killed himself.]
Gongyi Xiao keeps seeing Liu Qingge on his night hunts and ends up getting closed to the quiet cultivator even asks if he would like to join Huan Hua, the other politely declines but Gongyi Xiao says if needs anything their doors will be open.
Of course when Liu Qingge IS injured, and see's Luo Binghe for the first time with Gongyi Xiao supporting him his blood dying the yellow uniform, Luo Binghe see's the mans face is covered and yet there is a mole under his left eye. Not too disimilair to Liu Mingyan his wife.
Luo Binghe knows who this is, and found it perplexing that Gongyi Xiao has just half dragged the Cang Qiong War god on his doorstep.
It should've been a good omen, and yet Luo Binghe was troubled. The war god was speculated to be dead, and if Liu Qingge has ties to Shen Qingqiu that means Luo Binghes secret is also exposed. But the worse part was how Gongyi Xiao was looking at the war god, how he held onto him and dragged him to their medical ward Luo Binghe even followed to help as he held the other side of the mans arm and was chugging vinegar to see how lively Gongyi Xiao was tending to the man like a wife to her husband!
Even the other wasn't unaffected even with a mask he could see the harsh blush. And Gongyi Xiao noticed it too.
"I understand its may be embarrising to you but is there anything wrong with a little help? No need to get angry." Gongyi Xiao thought it was wounded pride.
Both Luo Binghe and Liu Qingge had to stare wondering how someone could be that oblivious?
____________________________________________________________
[When Shen Qingqiu finally invites GOngyi although his fan language it was SQQ who said call ME, he got annoyed when Gongyi Xiao ghosted him just to realise it was Gongyi waiting for HIS reply making SQQ huffy]
____________________________________________________________
Shen Qingqiu towered over him and Gongyi xiao found himself pressed against the wall of the bamboo house they were in the shade hidden from the rest of the Qing Jing peak.
“This lord can hurt you if he so desires and yet here you are, oblivious to the danger you are in.”
Gongyi Xiao blinked “As this one is a head disciple it’d be foolish to be so blatantly obvious, and if Master Shen wanted to hurt this one he had plenty of chances to do so before now.”
Shen Qingqiu used his golden fan and raised Gongyi Xiaos chin as the other looked down on him. His face looking ominous and every bit like the Scum Villain he was meant to be.
“This one can cripple you in many ways without leaving a scar.” He continued.
And yeah, Gongyi Xiao shivered he knew Shen Qingqiu the sadistic bastard knew plenty of ways to enact torture.
Isolation, gaslighting a room that completely removes all sight sound and touch all psychological.
“This one has a Shixiong who will know, and he always returns justice tenfold.”
“You trust him to care?”
Not really, any excuse to take revenge against Shen Qingqiu is good enough in Binghe’s books.
“Yes. My Shixiong has my back.”
Instead Shen Qingqiu looked more irritated as he took a step away from Gongyi.
“For someone who acts like a tactitition you sure are naive, maybe you and I are not as similar as I thought.”
Well thank fuck for that.
When Gongyi sat before Shen Qingqiu with his impression of PIDW he deducted that Master Shen hated him.
Like Luo Binghe a talented upstart, with promising cultivation and a loving sect he figured the only reason Maastee Shen hadn’t beaten him with a whip was because he was from another sect.
“You broke your promise?” Shen Qinqiu asked.
“No, it was already impossible so this one made a promise he knew the palace mistress couldn’t keep but if somethings didn’t come to pass and my Shixiong didn’t come to Huan hua then this one would be honoured by duty. This one owes his Shixiong a lot for his freedom.”
Shen Qingqiu nodded, clever to make a promise but still keeping it only for the other to walk away. Maybe Gongyi was smarter than him, already aware of other peoples wants and needs and knowing he would be disappointed by people but used that in his favour.
Shen Qingqiu found himself taking notes before scowling.
“Would you ever betray this Master?” He wondered, depending on Gongyi’s answer could tell Shen Qingqiu everything he needed to know- he knew Gongyi was like himself, someone who strives to excellence with hard work but found himself lacking to stronger talented individuals, Liu Qingqi came to mind, and his blind devotion to that Shixiong of his was also similar to his and Yue Qingqyuans relationship. That starry eyed wonder that his Shixiong would never let him down.
“This one will never betray Master Shen.” He even gave a confused head tilt like a dog. A wonderful act.
Shen Qingqiu will be betrayed but Gongyi Xiao would not raise a finger is true. He wondered what his purpose was?
“Very well,” he spoke pretending it was a whim in their weekly game of go as he used another fan language and Gongyi responded in kind. He was a quick study.
Maybe he will teach him his own secret fan language the language changes downswing on the person so that way even if he taught a spy they still would t be able to understand the language given to others.
Gongyi Xiao eyes seemed to sparkle in delight at this and Shen Qingqiu saw himself in the other and wanted to warn the other from placing his trust in a Shixiong that would throw him away without a second thought.
“Tell this master what is your Shixiong like? You seem to sing his praises.”
“My Shixiong isn’t like that, he only shows his softer side to women.” His opinion of this Shixiong dropped a bit.
“How do you know?”
“Um, he is strong and dependable and if anyone is in trouble he helps them but usually when the ones in trouble are women he has a tendency to marry them.”
Shen Qingqiu almost spat his tea out.
“What a beast! Does he lay with any women then? A harem?” Gongyi Xiao nodded.
“But it’s normal to have a harem isn’t it? Don’t most master have first wives and concubines?” Gongyi wondered naively and Shen Qingqiu felt even more disgusted that Shixiong of his normalising this barbaric behaviour!
“Most men marry more than they should of course, but never to that amount it’s completely shameless!”
Gongyi Xiao hid his smile behind his fan.
“Even more shameless than going to a brothel?”
“…”
Gongyi Xiao laughed “This one won’t judge, if this Shixiong of mine wants wives who can stop him? If this Master before me visits brothers what right do I have to judge?”
Gongyi Xiao shrugged reaching out to hold his tea cup and took a delicate sip.
“As cultivators we try too hard to force a lifestyle on others not everyone can live as a monk.” Gongyi Spoke and so Shen Qingqiu tilted his head “So what about Gongyi Xiao? Any temptations?”
Here Gongyi Xiao paused wondering why Shen Qingqiu cares so much.
“Since you know about this Master and both know about your Shixiong tastes might as well know yours.”
Oh well- Gongyi Xiao remembered Luo Binghe watches back this footage in his dream he may as well be a double agent with a hidden camera.
So if Binghe was going to hear this answer, might as well make it official.
“This one doesn’t have an interest in those things.”
“Bullshit.”
Was Shen Qingqiu’s response and Gongyi Xiao bristled “It’s true, no one has caught this one’s attention and the only conclusion this one came up with is…” Gongyi Xiao trailed off, at this point it would be easier to not fall for any women since most would become Bonghes wives anyway at some point it’d be safer to stay single not as if his lifestyle would change that much.
“This one isn’t really interest in women.”
Shen Qingqiu stared and Gongyi Xiao realised how that sounded he rushed to add “Or with anyone! No one has caught this one’s eye.”
God grief! It made it sound as if he was a cutsleeve! He just didn’t have that obsessive compulsion he liked the palace mistress and Binghe although Binghe was way more interesting.
Shen Qingqiu hummed bemused it was obvious that his guest had no favour of women.
The way he avoided Ning Yingyings attention and instead was more focused on Ming Fan, he even remembered his name and if Ming Fan was competent then sure but that head disciple of his was an embarrassment! How could Gongyi know only remember his name but his rank as well?
And the way Go got Xiao watched Ming Fan and teased him and seemed to find delight in tormenting his head disciple it was fascinating to watch Shen Qingqiu wasn’t even offended.
Not knowing each time Gongyi Xiao bullied or tormented Ming Fan he thought.
“And that’s for bullying Binghe!” He thought internally each time he flattened that bug into the ground.
Whenever he sparred he would beat him. He would one up the man each chance he got, with better poetry or even socialised with all the other Qing Jing Peak it was only a goad to the head disciple humiliating him yet knowing it wasn’t enough torment for the mini scum.
so here Gongyi Xiao wifebeaming, Bingge, Liu Qinqqi, Shen Qingqiu, ZhuZhi lang, even Tianglang-jun at one point and Mu Qinqfan. Luo Bingge has to batter them all away with Xin Mo.
Additional note, that Shen Qingqiu muses while he's observing Gongyi Xiao on his peak while he was playing Go, and saw how the other took a sip of tea and immiedtly placed the cup down and reached out for the sweets.
Shen Qingqiu always served the worst tea to guests just to see their response, Gongyi Xiao seemed to have a sweet tooth and instead barely gave his cup a second glance.
As Shen Qingqiu heard back from his network he saw how GOngyi Xiao created his own from the immortal alliance, of course he needed to fine tune these individuals so no information would leak to other sects but at least there was one individual who was trying at least.
But the strange rumours of Gongyi Xiao that cropped up was his new nickname.
The cultivation Sects have been referring to Gongyi Xiao as 'The Palace Mistress' No one calls Xiao Gongzhu that anymore instead referring to her name instead.
Gongyi Xiao was called that because from the denizens of Huan Hua claim he is a delicate thing. Picky with his materials and fabrics removed his porcelion pillows for goose feather ones, even the way he was eating his food came across as prickly princess.
Of course Shen Qingqiu was the same, but this nickname wasn't something cute the Huan Hua called their once prized disciple it was a crude name one made of malicious intent that even the other sects caught on.
Whenever they went out in public and mocked "The Palace Mistress," Xiao Gongzhu was known to fits of anger and retaliating with her whip. But now Gongyi Xiao would respond and his was usually on pare with his Shiemi, the worst part is his oblivious thinking he was protecting his Shiemis honour not realising it was him they were discussing and his response made him look worse.
It wasn't his personality it was that Shixiong of his and the stir it created, the Huan Hua Palace and the rest of the Cultivation Sects saw a man being stripped of honour and dignity who would gladly step aside and yet this shixiong take his fiance and gladly ate his dog food the overall action as if he would bend over for any real man which was seen as worse than a cutsleeve.
"At least if he was a lover and liked men it would make sense, but this is just shameful."
To think the man before hims reputation was worse than Shen Qingqius. If anything it made his brothel visits seem more classy compared to a man who would tremble in the knees at anyone stronger than him.
Shen Qingqiu wondered if Gongyi Xiao knew his new nickname.
[This will tie in later in the end at Gongyi Xiaos UTTER surprise when Luo Binghe says he'll marry the Palace Mistress with a knowing smirk so Gongyi thinks the two are finally getting married to find out its him. And even his Shiemi laughs and says Well you DID say that whoever becomes head disciple and claims Palace Master is worthy to marry the Palace Mistress. So Gongyi Xiao did keep his promise, and if Shen Qingqiu was here he would slap his knee in laughter if he wouldn't claim he was above the act]
_________________________________________________________
Gongyi Xiao STOLE another wife scene- he didn't MEAN too, it just kept happening!?
Gongyi Xiao learned his mistake from the letters and hid all of his evidence of the Palace Master being a creep in a convenient place. Maybe if Gongyi Xiao dies and ends up in his plant body that was growing well another year and he should be good to go. Already Luo Binghe had plans for Shen Qingqiu within a year so if anything went wrong Gongyi Xiao had an alternative.
But he didn't want to leave Luo Binghe in the dark especially with that Old man around, so he figured he should put it in Luo Binghes room right beneith the floor board when Luo Binghe would get up from the bed after a night with one of his wives.
The floor would be more obvious with constant pressure on a spot that had already been tampered with. So it figures Luo Binghe would find it.
But of course...
As Luo Binghe mentioned off hand how close he and the Old Palace were and that he has been more of a Shizun than any other. Gongyi Xiao thought he was lying. But Luo Binghe was following thes script that he had in the book made Gongyi Xiao realised Luo Binghe had no clue.
So after knocking on Luo Binghes doors, unaware of most of the disiples watching in obvious surprise as Gongyi Xiao was allowed to enter Luo Binghes rooms he closed the door behind him then froze to see the others state of undress and looked away.
"My Lord," Gongyi Xiao spoke clearing his throat "This one had no idea you were busy-"
"Nonsense, what is it Xiao-Shidi?" Gongyi blinked at the informal name and felt as if he was thrown of then remembered.
"Ah if you don't mind this one," Gongyi Xiao raised a hand and used his qi to feel around the room and immiedtly stiffened to realise that Luo Binghe had a hearing talismans in his room!
Why- Why hadn't the Palace Mistress done anything!? Wasnt she supposed to teach him!?
"Gongyi Xiao?" Luo Binghe spoke after pulling on a robe, Gongyi opened his eyes then began to move around the room, removing each and everyone before burning it.
"The Palace Master usually has all of his rooms filled with these to listen in on conversations- I thought the Palace Mistress would've told you?"
Luo Binghe had sex with his wives here! What the hell!?
But the look on the others face looked thunderous, he appeared to not have known.
But the Palace Master did nothing yet so Binghe's secret was still safe for the time being.
"Here," Gongyi Xiao reached out and watched how Luo Binghes eyes tracked his movement, probably thinking "Hey check the nerve on this guy!"
Gongyi took his hand and moved his fingers in the way of the sign and even sent a pulse of qi.
"There, feel out your senses and try to find anything in this room that shouldn't be here."
It was a Huan hua technqiue, since they were the sect of illusions and complicated arrays things tended to get...lost.
Luo Binghes gaze furrowed, he opened his eyes and glanced at his bed.
"Did you miss one?" He asked his hands twitching against Gongyi Xiao who realised he was still holding him. He let go as if he was burned and moved over.
"Ah no- after the letters I thought it'd be safer to hide my things here."
"Clever."
Luo Binghe praised, and Gongyi Xiao looked down hiding his face, it was one thing to be praised by the antagonist but another by the protagonist!
It was too much for this shidi- take mercy!
Once he opened up the floor Luo Binghe came closer in curiosity. Which was how they found themselves sitting on Luo Binghes bed surrounded by paper work and letters.
"The Old Palace Master has the original letters this one only copied what he could."
Of course it wasn't all about Binghe, it was other demonic battles against Mobei-Jun that created the revenge of the immortal alliance, other sects dealing with cualdrons- something Shen Yuan had no clue about no WONDER the three nuns were part of the harem they were experimented on to be the perfect cultivation partners. It was sickening.
Luo Binghes eyebrows raised in surprise at all the information Gongyi Xiao compiled over the last five years, his sense of justice ensuring he would be fair to all. And Luo Binghe was included, at a time before Luo Binghe was a nobody, with only Ning Yingying to mourn him and yet...this man... actually cared.
Luo Binghe felt too much and nothing at all, it was more than what he felt for his wives, more than revenge against his enemies. This feeling was possesive. So far Gongyi Xiao had given his everything, his time dedication loyalty his trust, even going so far as to even avenge this lord. And yet Luo Binghe wanted more, what more could Gongyi Xiao give?
If Luo Binghe asked...would he say no?
"My Lord- are you listening?" Luo Binghe blinked then smiled "Yes, this lord is listening."
"Good, Shen Qingqiu is showing me his secret fan language- but he changes it for each person he teaches so no spies can infiltrate his secrets." Luo Binghe nodded "That is good, Shidi is doing so well."
Gongyi Xiao shuffled on the bed glancing away "Well, if Binghe could- he could enter this ones dreams and learn them as well. At least that way you can understand any conversation Shen Qingqiu and I have."
It was strange to be asked permission to a dreamscape, Luo Binghe nodded "Of course."
Gongyi Xiao nodded and began compiling his letters to organise and put them away. "Okay- oh and what of Ning Yingying?"
That dampened Luo Binghes mood, why was his Shidi asking that? Don't tell him-
"What of Ning Yingying?"
"Do you want this one to tell her your alive? I'm sure Luo Binghe wants to reuinte with his Shijie this one heard that you two were quite close."
Luo Binghe blinked, ah, since Gongyi Xiao is visitng his old peak he did wonder if Ning Yingying and Gongyi Xiao were getting...close.
On one hand he wanted Gongyi Xiao seperated from any- competition -Luo Binghes wives. And Ning-Shijie...wasn't the brightest tool in the shed bless her, if she knew he might accidently slip that he was alive and give the game away.
...like how she lost Luo Binghes pendent by advertising it to his tormenters making it lost forever-
__________________________________________________________
Que, Gongyi Xiao coming from another spy mission from Cang Qiong, this time he's met Yue Qingyuan who was overally POLITE and creeped him out a little, but then they bonded over protecting the ones they love who [when they put their minds to it they DO it and if its making the world burn all GYX and YQY can do is stare and watch hoplessly at LBH and SQQ] So after that bonding Gongyi Xiao who judged Yue Qingyuan now understands the man a little, it starts to create the doubt that Gongyi Xiao is becomming just like Yue Qingyuan that silence is just as deadly as abuse itself.
But on a random excursion around the Qing jing peak Gongyi Xiao finds his mind drifting wondering what is he even doing? Until he is BLINDED and sees something in the tress. He jumps up to inspect and gapes to see a well worn rusted jade pendent!
Gongyi Xiao wrapped it around his neck and kept it on him until he returned to the palace.
Luo Binghe notices the red string and asks after it [his hackles rised thinking it was a love token by someone from Huan hua- his Shidi was so self sacrificing he would defiently marry someone from another sect to make relations stronger or something stupid like that-]
"Ah Shixiong, this one found it on Cang Qiong and was going to ask Shen Qingqiu about it but...uh it must of slipped my mind. It was there for a while maybe you know whose it was if not I'll just ask Shen Qingqiu." Gongyi Xiao spoke reaching up and pulling the Jade Pendent from his neck missing Luo Binghes stricken face as he revealed it.
"It's a little worn from the weather and all those years, but it doesn't seem too bad some cleaning and it should be fine- ...Luo Binghe?" He asked noticing the others face Gongyi Xiao held it out "Do you know who this pendent belonged to."
Luo Binghe reached out with trembling hands and Gongyi Xiao blanched to see his eyes were sparkling, his voice quiet and broken.
"It-" Luo Binghe's voice cracked "It was this Lords..." He reached out with shaky hands taking the pendent and holding it in his hand like it was glass. As if it would vanish before his eyes.
And if Luo Binghe cried then Gongyi Xiao was going to cry- he couldn't deal with people crying!
And also protagonist! What happened to "After my Scum Shizun tossed tea on my head I will never cry again!"
What is this hah? What is this!?!?!?!
"This Lord thanks you." Luo Binghe spoke, and Gongyi Xiao tried for an awkward smile, he knew Luo Binghe biggest regret was losing that, he was glad he could help.
"I'm sure theres some ways to restore it- we can experiment on other worse items just in case." Luo Binghe nodded "This Lord will like that."
So Gongyi Xiao was put to work making sure the demons in the palace knew what they were doing, worked well with the human staff, and was able to return Luo Binghes pendent restored and with other charms to not be affected by future wear and tear.
It wasn't until later as Gongyi Xiao was running on his feet he realised something...he was acting like the Head Disciple or some secretary to Luo Binghe.
While Luo Binghe was acting as the Palace Master.
Gongyi Xiao felt excitment this was it! It was officially time to boot out the old Palace Master and in with the new!
___________________________________________________
[To clarify, the demons are disguised, only Gongyi and Binghe know there demons on this part]
Part three coming soon and it's going to be painful [I thought this would be a five part story not a three guess it was bigger in my head ^^;]

WIP WMonday
Shen Qingqiu heard the explosions, but there wasn't much he could do about them.
He did get the news from a rushed-sounding Qian Cao disciple, a tangled explanation about a demon lord and army at the gates of Cang Qiong, the anchors for the shield-wards targeted and damaged, the other Peak Lords gone to hold the gate against the ravening tide.
If that was Luo Binghe -- was it Binghe? Who else could it be? But even if it was Luo Binghe, how had he gotten this together so fast?! Luo Binghe had still been under the mountain at Qiong Ding for certain as recently as five days ago. Even since then -- the guards checked the chamber, several times a day. Surely if he had been found missing, Cang Qiong would have been more on alert? (Surely somebody would have told him.)
So if Luo Binghe had escaped Cang Qiong only in the last day, then -- then this army would have had to be waiting for him somewhere nearby. Lying in wait for his signal, prepared to swoop in on a moment's notice, the entire time Luo Binghe had been playing wounded gazelle for "Lady Mist."
...Shen Qingqiu was so fucking stupid.
Anyway! So! The Razing Of Cang Qiong arc was underway it seemed! Everything was going great!!

[ID: A System Possessed Shen Qingqiu AU Comic, from SVSSS. All of the comic is done in a black-and-white sketchy style unless otherwise stated. Shang Qinghua speaks up nervously, a a square of green light reflected in his pupils, saying, "Ah... this one has something to say..."
The other peak lords are shown. Liu Qingge is glaring, his eyes swollen from tears. Yue Qingyuan looks uncertain, and Mu Qingfang looks fearful, saying, "Shang-shixiong are you sure-"
Shang Qinghua interrupts. He says, "I'm being allowed. It's a one-time concession. Shen-Shixiong's System is acting out of line. My System is offering a way to stop it." Shang Qinghua thinks of the possessed Shen Qingqiu, whose eyes and mouth shine with a blue light as he smiles. He continues speaking, saying, "The System's powers are finite. Taking over Shen-Shixiong's body and the- the missions. All those things are slowly draining it. If we take the System's power source as far away from Cang Qiong Mountain as possible it won't be able to keep going. We are gonna need to keep asking for missions or its power might not drain fast enough before it realizes its power source is gone. My System says that once its power is low enough it should go into hibernation and go back to normal after awhile..."
Liu Qingge says angrily. "Back to normal?" Yue Qingyuan calls out "Liu-shidi!" from offscreen while Liu Qingge grabs a fearful Shang Qinghua by the front of his robes, hauling him up. Liu Qingge demands, "Back to being tortured and not being able to say anything?! What's stopping us from destroying this 'power source'? What is it? Answer now!"
Shang Qinghua says, "It's-" He is cut off as his mouth snaps shut. His dialogue changes to green, indicating that his System is possessing him, as he says, "The Qing Jing disciples." Both Yue Qingyuan and Liu Qingge look horrified. End ID.]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sqh's system wants to fix the problem, but it does not want the peak lords to know exactly who the power source is. So all the children are now the power source! You wouldn't kill children, right, Liu-Shixiong????

Because my brain does NOT stop even when I’m grounded, today my brain told me, “Hey, I figured out how to make a Hobbit Fusion AU work.” And I was like, “Great! We’re working, though.” And my brain was like, “I’ve figured out how to make it a Pre-Canon Canon Divergence AU for Moshang.”
And I was like, “...I’m listening.”
The Hobbit is another one of my Comfort Media and it got brought up when I was asking about that, but I was feeling kind of “eh” about mixing Tolkien mythology with SVSSS. I mean, the mental picture of Dwarf Mobei-Jun is extremely funny and Shang Qinghua would make a great hobbit! But that interpretation felt a little too direct for my AU tastes.
So, hm, now I have another potential Big Bang contender. My love for The Hobbit is very, VERY strong and looking at my current outline, I have to be like, “Yeah, this could be 50,000 words, no problem.”
It’s a very good outline!
-
After saving Mobei-Jun, Shang Qinghua bailed A.S.A.P. because he honestly thought Mobei-Jun was going to kill him. He psyched himself out of sticking around before Mobei-Jun woke up. Mobei-Jun didn’t get enough information to track Shang Qinghua down.
Shang Qinghua (who isn’t SQH because he isn’t the Peak Lord) decides that he can’t fucking take it anymore and bails from Cang Qiong Mountain Sect too. The System objects, but also falls into line when Airplane shrieks at it. Airplane is going to go become a humble merchant and inventor and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop him!
It turns out that Shang Qinghua’s presence or help was actually crucial to stop some Emperor of the Abyss from taking over the Ice Palace and the Northern Desert. Airplane is like, “Oh, yeah, I remember… offhandedly writing something about that happening in the past off-screen?” It was one of those things that he just threw in there because it sounded really cool, and it gave Mobei-Jun another reason to “owe” Shang Qinghua and not kill him immediately, but he never got to elaborate on it because he was too busy writing stallion novel bullshit.
So, borrowing the lore from my “Horns” one-shot, an extremely powerful Emperor of the Abyss escaped the Eternal Abyss. This is some devouring horror being from the depths of the abyss, which ate everything in its vicinity in the abyss itself and crawled into the Demon Realm to eat more things. The Emperor of the Abyss was attracted to Mobei-Jun’s father. They fought. Mobei-Jun’s father should have won, but didn’t, because he was too fucked up (thanks to his own hedonism or something) to fight properly. What an asshole.
Mobei-Jun’s father was killed and devoured by the Emperor of the Abyss, which has made it… exponentially powerful. It’s now… basically a calamity. The desolation that it leaves in its wake across the Northern Desert is unspeakable. Mobei-Jun and his family, their allied clans, and pretty much all demons in the Northern Desert have had to flee.
Mobei-Jun is currently essentially a “guest” of the Sha Clan. He’s homeless. He’s lost the power of his ancestors. He’s a “king” without a kingdom. It’s humiliating. He needs to kill the abyssal creature to retrieve: his title, his ancestors’ power, and his kingdom.
While working for other demon clans to support his family and people, Mobei-Jun crosses paths with Airplane. Airplane has become a relatively successful merchant and inventor, and he calls himself Shang Houhua. He lives a very comfortable life and does his best to ignore anything resembling the plot. He’s pretty successful at ignoring the plot.
Mobei-Jun is never in a good mood these days, but he’s especially pissed off to see that human who abandoned him all those years ago. Airplane tries to argue that Mobei-Jun told him to fuck off, but Mobei-Jun is too angry. Airplane makes lots of offers in an effort to get Mobei-Jun to spare his life, one of which ends up being a claim that he can help Mobei-Jun kill the Emperor of the Abyss and make him a king again. Mobei-Jun pauses, now even more pissed off than before, and Airplane just starts babbling desperately to save his own skin.
Mobei-Jun was already forming a company to take on a Quest for the Northern Desert - in the hopes of slaying the Emperor of the Abyss and retaking his homeland. Part of the issue has been that forming the company is difficult. Mobei-Jun wants people who are loyal to HIM and ONLY to him. He won’t owe anyone else anything or promise them pieces of his homeland.
(Airplane is like, “Bro, I don’t know if you can afford to be so picky, but okay.”)
So Mobei-Jun is like… “I still want to kill you, but fine, you can come on our quest and help us.”
So Airplane ends up on the Quest for the Northern Desert, led by his very angry future murderer the “king without a kingdom” Mobei-Jun, to fight the calamitous Emperor of the Abyss who killed Mobei-Jun’s father. Fuck.
Some details beyond this opening premise:
Airplane and Mobei-Jun fall in love over the course of the quest, obviously. They have their own hijinks like each chapter of The Hobbit (equivalents to the trolls, to Rivendell, to Goblintown, to Beorn, to Mirkwood, and to Laketown, etc.).
Oh, damn, I just realized that making a pre-fall Tianlang-Jun and Zhuzhi-Lang the Beorn equivalents would be so fucking funny.
The Emperor of the Abyss is a horrifying Smaug equivalent. It can totally talk because Airplane having a conversation with a draconian horror sounds incredible. I would love to have Airplane outwit the Emperor of the Abyss in some fashion.
Mobei-Jun and Airplane somehow manage to successfully kill the Emperor of the Abyss together. Like, together. Probably using some plot device whipped up or some clever plan devised by Airplane on his feet. Mobei-Jun trusts Airplane at a crucial moment and it all works out. Airplane actually gets Mobei-Jun his kingdom back.
I’m tempted to just skip over the Ring and not having a Ring equivalent. BUT if I made this into a longfic instead of a one-shot, I would have a Ring equivalent (if it was a one-shot, I would ditch the Ring equivalent). I think I would make Xin Mo the One Ring equivalent. During the Goblintown equivalent event, Airplane falls either into the Eternal Abyss or into Bing-Ge’s dimension, where he proceeds to successfully take up Xin Mo because he knows the trick and portal himself out of the Eternal Abyss, or he proceeds to outwit Bing-Ge in some fashion and uses the Xin Mo sword to portal himself back to the right dimension.
So then Airplane is stuck with this super powerful sword that he doesn’t want to use again because he KNOWS that it will fuck him up. He KNOWS that it will FUCK HIM UP. So Airplane has to go through the rest of the quest ignoring the temptation of the Xin Mo sword that he is absolutely not supposed to have and can’t possibly let anyone else have.
(Oh, man, imagining the influence of Xin Mo giving Airplane extra horny thoughts about Mobei-Jun on the rest of the quest is very funny. Like, Airplane was already hot for Mobei-Jun, but now it’s worse and he might never have a normal thought ever again.)
Bagginshield Movie Hug when Airplane turns up again, for sure. Mobei-Jun thought he was dead. Mobei-Jun smiles and everything, until he remembers to frown again.
I’m feeling like I don’t want Airplane to use Xin Mo to help defeat the Emperor of the Abyss, but it makes sense if he does. Him not using it doesn’t make much sense. I do like the idea of Airplane dealing the killing blow and Mobei-Jun’s pride being hurt by Airplane being the one to kill it. I also like the idea of Mobei-Jun being a little smitten by Airplane just… loyally handing him his kingdom and restoring the power of his ancestors. I also really like the idea of Airplane just… not having some super powerful plot device up his sleeve on the quest.
Like, instead of Airplane’s Author God knowledge totally setting him up to deal with this thing no problem, Airplane had NO FUCKING PLAN when he set out with Mobei-Jun. He was talking completely out of his ass when he said he knew how to help Mobei-Jun. That this all worked out at all is almost completely due to luck and improvisation.
That feels MUCH more true to both Shang Qinghua and to Bilbo Baggins. Lucky lads of fast-talking, complaining, lying, not knowing what the fuck is really going on, thirsting after kings with tragic backstories, and somehow not dying despite winging it all the time.
Instead of goldsickness, Mobei-Jun is forced to deal with some side-effects of consuming the Emperor of the Abyss to regain the power of his ancestors. (Demon cannibalism rituals. Yeah.) He starts acting really scary and out-of-character and forceful, until Airplane loses his nerve and runs away. Maybe under the influence of the late Emperor of the Abyss, Mobei-Jun actually tries to kill him? I could see Mobei-Jun trying to kill Airplane for the Xin Mo sword which dealt the finishing blow on the Emperor of the Abyss.
(I need a better name for this thing. If I can’t come up with something that actually sounds good, I might just call it “The Calamity”, but that’s giving me BOTW vibes so I don’t like it. Maybe I’d call it “The Desolation” or something? Ehhhh, I don’t really like that either.)
I want to have a Battle of the Five Armies equivalent, if only so Tianlang-Jun and Zhuzhi-Lang can swoop in as benevolent helpers as the Beorn equivalents. Currently, I’m seeing three options. 1) The orc army equivalent are neighboring demon lords who want to strike while the new Mobei-Jun is getting established. 2) The orc army equivalent is Linguang-Jun trying to kill his nephew and take power at the last minute. 3) The orc army equivalent is Bing-Ge here with an army and he’s pissed off and wants his sword back.
On one hand, 1 and 2 would be SO MUCH EASIER to pull off. I could be really lazy about the whole thing. On the other hand, 3 would be much fresher (more surprising and links back to the Xin Mo element), more challenging and the idea of pre-fall Tianlang-Jun facing off with Bing-Ge delights me. Kick his ass, Tianlang-Jun!
(Su Xiyan gets involved? My brain says YES. Kick his ass, Su Xiyan!)
Also, I was sad about there being no Fili and Kili equivalents, because Mobei-Jun has no friends, and I’ll have to make up a company pretty much from scratch. (Sha Hualing is too young and Luo Binghe hasn’t been born yet.) BUT then I was like, “Where’s Linguang-Jun in all this?” And I would absolutely have Linguang-Jun be a part of Mobei-Jun’s Company. Instead of nephews, Mobei-Jun has a sketchy uncle who might be trying to kill him. Keeping Linguang-Jun out of it might be easier, but actually doing some character-building with him sounds fun and challenging, and I’d rather limit the number of OCs if possible.
Mobei-Jun manages to shake off the goldsickness equivalent somehow, probably through “the power of love” (and/or straight-up “dual cultivation” with Airplane?). Moshang makes up while Mobei-Jun is apparently mortally wounded from fighting Bing-Ge and Airplane thinks this is all his fault. But Mobei-Jun doesn’t die! It’s all good!
It’d be pretty funny if there was a “Returning to the Shire” equivalent where Airplane leaves because he thinks Mobei-Jun hates him now and never wants to see him again. So then Mobei-Jun has to track his man down like, “Get back here and marry me. (Also I am so sorry for trying to kill you. Please forgive me. I hate myself so much for that.)”
And they all live happily ever after!
Holy shit, this wasn’t in Proud Immortal Demon Way.

“you know you’re singing to your headphones out loud, right” au for moshang plz sqh singing modern songs that mbj doesn't know and being hella confused 🥺
Featuring karaoke-loving Shang Qinghua who gets a bit too drunk at a Cang Qiong mountain gathering, and he goes all out.
Or when Mobei Jun wonders why Shang Qinghua is singing about another man called Liang Shan Bo.
---
Sometimes, he thinks about his old life before he ever had the misfortune of landing in a world of his own creation, with an annoying gaming AI system of sorts hounding his every move (in the beginning) or turning up at the most inopportune times just when he thinks it’s finally gone and left him alone (more recently).
Shang Qinghua remembers not having many friends when he was still Shang Qinghua, when ‘向天打飞机 Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky’ was still merely his writing Weibo account moniker and when he had millions of people looking up to him for his crucial contributions in writing this amazing story about his son Luo Binghe and the way he overcame all odds to become a success with a harem of gorgeous women at his feet (damn you, Peerless Cucumber bro!).
Back in those days, he lived off cup noodles and instant coffee. If he didn’t have to leave the house, Shang Qinghua would simply curl up in front of his laptop, either writing for his novel or watching shows (clears his throat) - actual shows! Chinese period dramas were his favourite, where a skilled and intelligent consort in the harem would outwit all the other women to be with her one true love, the Emperor, who falls irrevocably in love with her.
And when he got bored, he switched from the laptop to his television to engage in his second most favourite hobby - Chinese karaoke. Going out to a karaoke bar would require some level of socializing, and also a few friends so he gets more bang out of his buck from what he pays for the room, but at home?
With advanced technology and a tiny ass microphone in either shining gold or silver, Shang Qinghua’s home entertainment system was his very own personal karaoke room, His tiny mic even had that echo-y effect on.
Shang Qinghua has a thing for classic Chinese songs - ‘The New Butterfly Dream’, ‘Liang Shan Bo and Juliet’, The Moon Represents My Heart‘ - and contemporary karaoke must-haves, like Wang Fei. For an embarrassing few days, the Chinese version of Baby Shark was a veritable earworm as well.
After transmigrating into his own story set in ancient times, where he lives without technology, Shang Qinghua would be lying if he said he didn’t miss the Internet. Laptops would be incredibly handy, and so would switches for lights, definitely indoor plumbing for toilets, and induction stoves. Phones too, that would be nice, rather than having to ‘send word’ with letters.
Of course, there is no karaoke bar or machine for him.
Not all is bad though. At least he transmigrated to Shang Qinghua in this world as a baby, so it’s not as if he was surviving on Internet and technology one day and left to do everything manually the next day since someone was always taking care of him. Peerless Cucumber bro, of course, wasn’t as lucky, but the man has definitely taken to this world (and his son!!) like a fish to water.
And as for himself, Shang Qinghua does not need to envy Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe either, because somehow, he has gotten the man of his dreams too, even if said man was a little cruel and rude to him in the beginning.
He has the love of his life (coughs coughs) and they’re stuck in this world for the rest of his life. What more is there to want? Not to mention how his cup of instant noodles betrayed him at the last moment, resulting in his death! It is slightly safer, ironically, to be in this world instead.
All is good except... well...
===
Shen Qingqiu marvels at the sight before him, torn between wanting to step in to stop Shang Qinghua, or watch this farce unfold.
He sometimes forgets where he, or where Shang Qinghua, who has been in this world longer than he, came from. They don’t always talk about the past when they meet, and aside from the occasional meetups, Shen Yuan is a part of him that doesn’t surface, not when he is with Luo Binghe.
Shang Qinghua, on the other hand, grew up here, and aside from referring to Shen Qingqiu by his Weibo account name, he seems otherwise well-adjusted, no hint of modern online writer Shang Qinghua in sight. It doesn’t feel as if he misses their original world either.
This evening, however, memories of modern times slap him in the face, quite literally.
“Shizun!” Luo Binghe calls, frantic, tugging him back into his embrace out of Shang Qinghua’s way. Once Shen Qingqiu is safe in his arms, his eyes narrow at the bumbling, drunk idiot causing a scene in the dinner hall, “Shang Qinghua...”
Shang Qinghua stops where he is, and then before any one can stop him, he picks up a pair of chopsticks, brings it to his mouth, and begins bellowing his way through-
-Jay Chou’s Hair Like Snow.
“Shizun, are you alright?” Luo Binghe fusses, his hands coming up to cup Shen Qingqiu’s face when his Shizun doesn’t so much as respond to him. “Were you hurt? Did he hurt you? How’re you feeling? We’ll go back home now-”
“What is he singing?” Qi Qingqi frowns in disgust.
They all wince when Shang Qinghua attempts to hit a high note, but fails miserably.
Fuck me, Shen Qingqiu thinks, his eyes impossibly wide, who knew Airplane bro was such a karaoke fanatic?
“... maybe he is possessed by a malevolent spirit? Or perhaps this is an unidentified curse?” asks Ming Fan.
“Or is this some new form of cultivation?” asks Ning Yingying, curious.
Yue Qingyuan, seated at the front of the dining hall, cannot help but be concerned for him as well. “Shall we call Mu-shidi to take a look at him-”
They’ve gathered for their annual meeting - a condition that Yue Qingyuan has set in place a few years ago after Luo Binghe ‘stole’ (married!) him away from Cang Qiong Peak - and although Shang Qinghua said he didn’t mind that Mobei Jun was unable to accompany him today, he spent most of the dinner drinking alcohol while in a melancholic state instead.
Who knew that Shang Qinghua was a singing drunk?!
Hence their current predicament.
At the Sect Master’s words, Shang Qinghua suddenly turns around and looks at Shen Qingqiu. HIccuping twice, he then beams, “Cucumber-”
Shen Qingqiu has never moved that fast in his life. Within a fraction of a second, he has his hand pressed over Shang Qinghua’s mouth, holding onto him from the back.
“Cucumber?” everyone choruses in confusion.
“I believe your Shang-shishu has had a little too much to drink,” Shen Qingqiu clears his throat, nodding at everyone else. “We should... send him back to Mobei. Isn’t that right, Binghe?”
His disciple, his husband, still has on an affronted, murderous look for how Shang Qinghua almost brained Shen Qingqiu with his flailing arms in his drunken fit. The moment Shen Qingqiu asks, however, his expression morphs into something so soft and full of love that everyone who sees it chokes.
“Of course,” Luo Binghe smiles, devotion apparent in his eyes. “Anything Shizun wants.”
===
The words that are tumbling out of Shang Qinghua’s mouth are entirely incomprehensible, and so are the tunes he’s humming into his ear.
Mobei Jun thought he had gotten used to Shang Qinghua’s eccentric mannerisms, and also thought he knew everything about his husband, so many years later. Shang Qinghua is mumbling Chinese alright, but none of the characters put together make any sense.
Who is Liang Shan Bo? And who the hell is Juliet?!
His mood taking a turn for the worse, Mobei Jun hoists Shang Qinghua up further on his back.
After getting so drunk, the idiot had the gall to demand for a piggy-back from the throne room to their bedroom. Mobei Jun has never once suffered such indignity in his years of living. A bridal carry? Of course, anytime. A piggy-back? As if he was some beast to be tamed?
Well this definitely has to be a first.
While he was stewing in his thoughts, Shang Qinghua switches from that song to another one, and a stream of ‘du du du lu du lu’ emerges from his lips... AND something about... a sha yu? What the hell is that?!
Shang Qinghua lazily lifts his right hand as they approach their room, balls it into a fist and puts it to his mouth, as if he’s holding something, and whatever monstrosity Shang Qinghua is singing, his voice gets even louder.
Mobei Jun tosses Shang Qinghua off his back unceremoniously and onto the soft bed. Interrupted, Shang Qinghua blinks, his vision blurry, and is about to catch his breath and start singing again when his husband climbs in after him. Trapping Shang Qinghua with his entire weight, Mobei Jun seals his lips with a kiss.
“... My king...” Shang Qinghua murmurs in a daze, when Mobei Jun pulls back a few minutes later, his breaths coming out as short, harsh pants. “My king...”
“That’s right,” he says with a glower. “I’m your Da Wang, your husband.”
Mobei Jun doesn’t know who Liang Shan Bo is, but he’s going to make sure no other man’s name ever leaves Shang Qinghua’s lips again when they’re together.
And when his husband finally sobers up, he’s going to have a lot to answer for.

Songs Mentioned (YouTube Links in Comments):
The New Butterfly Dream 新鸳鸯蝴蝶梦 - A Chinese classic, sung by Huang An but done beautifully by legendary god of singing Fei Yu Qing and singing partner for the song A Yun Ga
Liang Shan Bo and Juliet 梁山伯与朱丽叶 - A Taiwanese contemporary classic of sorts by Genie Zhuo, most Chinese millennials would definitely have sang this at a karaoke once in their lives - Song is inspired by Liang Shan Bo and Zhu Ying Tai, the Chinese version of Romeo and Juliet to some extent - They both die in the end and become butterflies, so they’re also called the Butterfly Lovers.
The Moon Represents My Heart 月亮代表我的心 - ANOTHER CLASSIC CLASSIC!!!
Baby Shark (Chi. Ver) - ˆThe baby shark hype did move to China, and it’s pretty hilarious LMAO and in Chinese, shark is 鲨鱼 (sha yu) but I’m assuming that in this world, there isn’t a shark kind of animal of sorts? So Mobei Jun and everyone else except SQQ wouldn’t know what a shark is or looks like?!
Hair Like Snow 发如雪 - By Jay Chou, another classic that all Chinese millennials would have sang in a karaoke bar
Wang Fei 王妃 - Jam Hsiao’s version is known best, and it’s pretty epic, not that anyone can reach any of the high notes in the chorus, but does that stop us from trying?!! Hell no!!!
---
Notes: My first Moshang?!! That didn’t really have a lot of Moshang time?! But thanks anon, hope this sort of works?!

I’m just imagining this as Shen yuan gets transmigrated into some random npc or just goes as basically himself born into PIDW and getting so excited by all the cultivation stuff that he figures out scarily fast on his own to the point of becoming an immortal rogue cultivator. He eventually meets binghe on the streets slightly before going to Cang Qiong mountain sect and proceeds to teach him how to cultivate (because who could say no to that face?!) and while yes, binghe is a genius, he is also a person who needs time to grow who eventually does grow into a fine cultivator and later (probably) immortal/demon but as a result of starting cultivation later, he’s stuck eternally looking like, 20-ish probably while he’s calling a 12 year old “shizun”.
Which, in all honesty, would obviously look really fucking weird to the average person. Can you imagine hearing gossip about the famed disciple/shizun pair coming to town to take care of ghostly/demonic happenings but the shock of hearing someone who looks twice the age of the child call said child “shizun”??? It would be so absurd and hilarious.
But also how their relationship would change?? Because even canon is a bit weird but it’s well established that they are both consenting adults. In this case one is and will eternally be, a literal child.
Additional random thoughts:
12 year old Shen Yuan getting carried everywhere because Cultivators are strong and lifting a 12 year old would be so easy that they could probably get him by the collar like a cat if they really wanted to keep him out of things. Also just the idea of Binghe princess carrying him while his face is burning with embarrassment while he refuses to admit that he might like it.
Shen yuan getting underestimated because he looks like a disciple of a sect or something only to beat several cultivator’s asses starting by going for their knees because, well, if they’re going to make jokes about how small he is and how he should leave it to the “professionals” they should be prepared to get their kneecaps broken. This may/may not be the reason some cultivators have leg protection/armor.
Just the mental image of airplane trembling in fear from the 12 year old and his disciple that could 100% end his life or at the very least make it a living hell (even though Shen yuan begrudgingly ends up enjoying his presence enough that he will only threaten even if they both know he’d never)
In an AU where Shen Yuan transmigrates into PIDW not as Shen Qingqiu and accidentally achieves immortality at 12…
And then there is Luo Bingge fluttering about trying to serve his nice shizun in all of the ways…
They are going to kind of look like Ciel and Sebastian (black butler).

SCUM VILLAIN REC LIST
(because when you get a friend into a fandom you have a duty to provide recs. I guess.)
High Mountain, How I Long
This is my favorite! 5/5 stars. This diverges post sowers arc where Luo Binghe gains custody of a Shen Qingqiu whose cultivation has been bound. SQQ is doing his very best to demonstrate how absolutely miserable he is in an effort to avoid additional punishment. Luo Binghe has very different goals. Fraught and then sweet.
 Hallowed Ground
Rope bondage and birthdays go together so well. There's something really sweet about shen qingqiu trusting luo binghe enough that this becomes something sweet and loving and also hot as all get out.
We Never Dreamed These Walls
Shen qingqiu falls into the endless abyss too? And then proceeds to run away as fast as he can. Downside: not fast enough. If he's going to make it out, he has to make some hard choices about how much he trusts luo binghe.
Dual Cultivation or Date
Liu Qingge deserves some love. This is part 2 in a series that started with LQG stepping in for an injured Sqq in a fuck or die scenario with lbh. In this one lbh implies sqq gave him permission to fuck lqg whenever which leads to 1) extremely hot hatefucking, 2) Luo Binghe really getting to put some sadistic tendencies into play, and 3) eventual kind of sweet threesome! Excellent; love it; would, have, and will read again
by omission
WIP, postcanon shen qingqiu meets a prophet capable of telling truth from falsehood at cang qiong peak. Introductions become an issue. i really like watching shen yuan walk the tightrope of truth and what the system will let him say. And the loyalty and suspicion people show him.
You Reap What You Sow
Luo Binghe as a transmigrator, just doing his best to woo his fave character, shen yuan, younger brother of the infamous shen qingqiu. Very fun role reversal.
the taste of blood, the claim of love
So this is og pidw luo binghe/shen qingqiu (pls read all content warnings!). It diverges from the point where luo binghe threatens to cut off shen qingqiu's legs to lure yue qingyuan into a trap that will kill him. Instead, shen qingqiu offers his loyalty in exchange for yue qingyuan's life. Great politics, power play, and developing relationship.
The Way to a Man's Heart is His Stomach
Modern AU where lbh runs a popular youtube cooking channel trading on his looks. He ends up rooming with shen yuan. Their relationship progresses through a 5+1 times shen yuan distracts luo binghe. Really fun, really sweet.
The Pen is Mightier
Postcanon moshang, mobei-jun is trying to serve shang qinghua as he deserves. Shang qinghua is mostly trying to survive his king's weird requests. Ends in really hot sex. Also lbh as a very insightful relationship advisor?
All Occasions Do Inform Against Me
Postcanon Shen Yuan deals with how long he's been Shen Qingqiu. Excellent Shen yuan reveal fic dealing with the internal guilt of lying to people he has come to care for.
Performance Appraisal
My fave Moshang fic which follows their relationship via Shang Qinghua's promotions. I think this does a great job exploring expectations, unintended consequences of rewards, and the way tangling love and work together can get messy. THEY ARE SO BAD AT TALKING. but also excellently resolved.
Joyed to be Forlorn
I will read approximately all huan hua water prison fic. And this one diverges when the huan hua palace master makes a move earlier. As a lbh pov, it is FASCINATING. Because! This arc is like peak sqq being afraid of luo binghe. Here on the lbh side it comes out as frustration about what will it take to stop sqq from thinking the worst! So really fun intercharacter stuff happening here.
If Not You
Mbj staring down a fuck or die poison is like i will dual cultivate with one (1) person in particular, otherwise i'll just go ahead and die. Meanwhile shang qinghua is losing his mind. This sets up some excellent loyalty and devotion exploration in airplane's messed up world. And then!!!! It flips and sqh has to make his own choices about the same poison. What a fun delicious fic.
When I Speak, Will You Listen?
AU where cultivation at high level gets its power from a cultivator's voice and voice stones can be stolen. Shen yuan loses his at a young age but is still taken into the cang qiong sect under shen qingqiu. Really great action-adventure.
know yourself
CULTIVATOR!MBJ AU. including a great and conniving shang qinghua. There is this one scene where a death is faked and I literally gasped out loud.
Please give some love to all authors!

Err, sorry about the formatting of my first reply. >_< I was in the middle of something when I first saw your post, and had to jot down all my thoughts as fast as possible... and then tumblr was weird about the reblog visibility, as far as I can tell? >_< So, I'm sorry about that, and thank you for the reply!
(...and then upon looking back at this completed reply, I'm sorry about this one as well. I'm really not very good at it - the replying, that is, as well as just communicating in general-)
I'd like to respond to your further thoughts! Admittedly, this includes offering you a lot of... well, silly thoughts and headcanons that I am playing with, that I hope might spark within you new ideas or points of insights! Just, new perspectives that aren't necessarily correct - nor assuming that they are correct - but new angles to (re)examine, all the same!
I thought so! I wasn't completely sure that YQY facing down TLJ while still being a head disciple was canon, So I'm glad to hear I wasn't wrong there!
And yay for more support for not-old!Peak Lords! And for this IAC being one of the first their generation is facing! I always found that interesting - how, one of the first thing Yue Qingyuan says, is that Shen Jiu!Qingqiu needn't worry about presenting himself well for the Immortal Alliance Conference - especially since I'd also noticed the every-four-year event taking place three-years post-transmigration, meaning the last one should have already passed a year ago, and the next one shouldn't be for another three! Why would that be the first thing on Shen Jiu's mind/what Yue Qingyuan assumed to be foremost on Shen Jiu's mind as a source of stress?
I've got a few ideas in mind for that, though no proof for any of them, so: A)They're thinking of terrible the IAC were they met each other went, with SJ killing the other disciples and then his master, and then discovering that Yue Qi had presumably forgotten him or set him aside, which... yeah, would leave some pretty negative connotations attached to the event. B)The last conference went badly - either as a whole, or for 9!SQQ in particular. SJ is constantly in fear about his position and place in society, or similar, so any form of weakness might echo loudly even between occurrences...
or, my pet idea, C) Cang Qiong Mountain, still newly ascended to their position, did not all attend the previous IAC, either as a whole or in parts. They were still settling in, and taking in all-new inner disciples; they'll be prepared to give a much better showing after a few more years, and want to come out showing themselves as strong.
asdfhkasl a silly idea just occurred to me: D) According to the rules of the tournament, contestants found fighting can be banned for 12 years. What if SJ was banned from the conference after his misconduct at the earlier IAC, and the ban only just ran out? XD
(Or the boring option E) That they just recently went over a bunch of paperwork connected to the IAC - either individually or at a Peak Lord's Meeting - and thus it was fresh on their minds.)
...like I said - I have no proof for any of these, that's just some of the possible reasons I could come up with that SJ would be worrying himself so terribly with 3 years to go before the IAC.
(Skippable rant incoming)
BUT RELATEDLY. THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY. THE THREE-YEAR SECLUSION IN THE DONGHUA IS A BESERK BUTTON FOR ME. (skip to [rant over] if you want to skip the SY levels of indignant ranting on a nitpicky subject-)
WE ACTUALLY. FOR ONCE. HAVE PRECISE DATES AND YEARS AND TIMES AND EVENTS!!! It's not like MDZS, where you're constantly wondering how long the Sunshot Campaign lasted! Or wondering for how long they were at the Burial Mounds! THERE'S NO HANDWAVEY-TIMELINES - WE HAVE DATES CLEARLY AND REPEATEDLY CALLED OUT!!!
Binghe is 14, and has already suffered under SJ for some time!!! Upon returning from the Skinner mission, SQQ spends 3. MONTHS. In seclusion, which immediately dovetails into the Sha Hualing's Invasion - in which LMY has no sword and is defeated, and Binghe barely manages to outlast and defeat his demon! 2 YEARS LATER, giving them plenty of time to train (and for Bingqiu to bond <3), these two will then go from faring poorly to RANKING THIRD AND FIRST IN THE ENTIRE IAC.
THE! IAC! TAKES PLACE! WHEN LUO BINGHE! IS! 17!!!
If SQQ spends 3 YEARS in secluded meditation, then Binghe and LMY have to go from "ehhhhhh" to fantastic practically overnight!!! WTF?????
Unless! You want!!! To destroy the timeline further!! And explicitly go against every single age and time frame mentioned after!!!
AFDHAKJLDHAKJSD
WHY WOULD YOU INTENTIONALLY THROW CANON OUT THE WINDOW WHEN IT'S BEEN TIED UP WITH A NEAT LITTLE BOW FOR YOU????????????????
Watching SQQ in the first episodes was painful enough - they make him look like an idiot clown with the whole drinking the medicine, as well as ruining one of the first touching scenes and the go----amn turning point in Luo Binghe's life -
..........................
...Alright. I'll stop now. It just... hurts, to think about, and I feel better after imagining I'm like SY raging at some of PIDW's plot holes and inconsistencies.
[...okay. rant over.]
asdfh- I almost went and quoted the "spent twenty days binging from start to finish" line before I remembered you had just debunked that when picking through the literal Chinese translation. So, I guess I have nothing on that point -
-just to say that we probably can't really trust what SQQ claims as his memory. Sure, I totally believe that you forgot all about the IAC. It's probably also a complete coincidence that Luo Binghe was out on an assignment that took him away for weeks, and even trying to return as quickly as possible, he only managed to make it back three days before the IAC. Definitely not a completely plausibly deniable way to get Luo Binghe out of the IAC, nope. (another wild pet theory to play with)
..
Oh! I completely forgot about the existence of extras as a standard occurrence, until your other post mentioned it!!! YEAH, that would totally make sense!!!
(and yeah, a 4 year total-3 year productive streak makes sense with a slower start, absolutely!! I feel like after he lost his outline, upon being expected to still update consistently, he just threw as many words out as he could in frustration (and grief - ouch >_<) .)
🥺 But what about the Airplane and Shen Yuan left behind? I feel like Shen Yuan's life will be emptier without ever having a Luo Binghe, or even an Airplane... ouch! Airplane, though... just continues on his sad, probably unfulfilling life alone :(
...
I think that was it, plus a bunch of uninvited extra? ^^; Thank you again for your reply!
...actually you know what*, I'll check the canon myself tomorrow, but: do we actually know for sure that SY died immediately after finishing PIDW? because i remember he died cursing it with his last words, but not whether it was indicated that he died the same day as he finished reading.
Couldn't it happen at a later date? Because, like, just basing it on myself, there are some things that I finished 2 years ago and hated so much that I still have a rant pretty much lock'd and loaded, and I will start recounting it at the slightest provocation.** Couldn't it be the same case?
*inspired by a couple posts i saw before, about the discrepancy between SY following the novel for years (i didnt see this on my reread yet so idk source) and finishing it in 20 days (chap.1)
**yes, yes, the probability of transmigrating into woh/shl if i meet an unfortunate accident is something I have a healthy fear of

Rewind and Start Over:: Noon
Bingqiu, rated M, 5,120 words, part 2/5, Incomplete
Angst, Suicidal Thoughts, Suicide Attempt, re-transmigration, Angst with a Happy Ending, Rating May Change
Modern science is so good it kept a dead man alive.
Shen Yuan is dragged forward but his feet are stubbornly digging in the ground. Luo Binghe is running as fast as he can to catch up.
- Binghe's perspective of Shen Qingqiu dropping dead back to life.
read on AO3
He promised. He promised he wouldn’t leave Luo Binghe ever again. Shizun said he would stay with him forever!
It fell away with the shatter of a broken teacup and a sharp inhale, his last gasp of air, from Shizun’s chest as his eyes rolled back and he collapsed in a heap on the other side of the low table. Luo Binghe cried out his name and lurched forward, the tea set shaking from the sudden movement. He shakily pulled Shen Qingqiu up in his arms, completely limp and not a trace of life left in his body. It was as if he’d fallen from the tower all over again- an empty kite with a hole in its wing with no cultivation or soul to give it flight.
Shen Qingqiu remained beautiful even in death, his layers of robes fanned out like he was a fallen flower, his hair loose from the impact of his fall and slipped from his silver and jade crown, a lock tracing his temple and the pale ribbons trailing his inky black hair like a green river in volcanic meadows. Luo Binghe gently lifted him, his name spilling from his lips and tears falling from his eyes stained the pale face already losing its shades of life and gave away to a deathly grey. There was no pulse, the warmth dripped away with each drop of a crystalline tear. No flutter of his eyelashes, no gentle rise and fall to his chest.
Luo Binghe worked quickly to preserve Shizun’s body all the while his mind scrambled to find a solution. There has to be a reason behind him suddenly dropping dead, something must have pulled the soul away. He promised! Something beyond his control had reached in and snatched Shen Qingqiu’s soul out from his body- the real body this time! He wouldn’t break a promise! Last time it was his useless father that had to pull Shen Qingqiu back to his real body from the Dew Seed body. There was no powerful demon to pull him away so suddenly, he was one of the most powerful demon lords there was absolutely no one who would dare to mess with him!
After pouring his spiritual energy into Shen Qingqiu and arranging him comfortably on the bed, he dropped the silken drapes to hide him away and set off toward Cang Qiong Mountain.
---
Even after digging through the whole of the mountain and threatening every Peak Lord and every disciple, he came up with nothing. No one knew anything and was shocked to learn of his sudden passing. He didn’t believe a word.
A scurrying mouse caught his attention and he chased after it.
---
“I don’t know anything!” Shang Qinghua squeaked in fright, the wall behind him blown in from the sudden force of Luo Binghe’s fist. He was trapped by Luo Binghe’s leering form, shivering under his glare. “I’m just as shocked as you are!”
“But you had a different look on your face when I told everyone,” Luo Binghe sneered. “You looked confused. Did you do something?”
“Nothing, nothing!” Shang Qinghua shrank deeper into his collar. “How-how about this. Leave me alone, but! I have an idea of how to get him back.”
“Talk,” Luo Binghe spat, eyes on fire.
“I have a hypothesis that his soul might… might have been sucked off somewhere far away,” Shang Qinghua stuttered. “You can easily go traipsing through the human and demon realms with your demon and human blood, but-but this might be beyond our reach. Don’t ask how! It’s an untested theory!”
“Who did this?” He drove his fist deeper into the wall by Shang Qinghua’s head. He whimpered pathetically.
“I don’t know!” He cried out. “But give me time, I’ll think of something to help Cu- Shen Shixiong out!”
Luo Binghe stepped back, a couple of crumpled rocks fell to the ground from the wall. “I’m going to continue physically searching. I’ll be back, for now, you must think of something before I return.”
With a flourish of his black robes he left. Shang Qinghua’s legs gave out and he slumped to the floor with a mutter of “scary, too scary!” under his breath.
---
Nothing. He searched every crevice of the mortal and demon realm, shouted to the heaven’s to give him back. There wasn’t a whisper of his soul anywhere. He dug through holes in the mountains, swam down to the deepest parts of the lakes, turned over every rock and leaf in the world and there was no Shizun.
He returned to Shen Qingqiu in his demon palace, resting in their grand bed and shielded away from prying eyes. He was stripped to his under robes, bathed in soft jasmine flowers, and his hair was brushed daily by Luo Binghe. It was always silky and knot-free. The long locks were braided loosely and he would lay him on his back and pull the silken blankets up to keep the chill off. His body was well preserved by Luo Binghe’s own spiritual energy as he did during the five year period of his death and for the first time in years, he went searching for humans with high spiritual power to help balance out his clashing demonic and spiritual energies. Every night, no matter how far away he searched, he always came back to lay next to Shen Qingqiu, curled up next to him under the blankets and cried  real, hot tears onto his lukewarm chest, kiss each finger, bury his face into the junction of his neck and inhale the subtly sweet scent of jasmine flowers, tea leaves, and something that’s so distinctly Shizun.
Every morning he’d rise before the sun, press a kiss on Shen Qingqie’s forehead as he always didoes to his demon mark, fills him with more spiritual energy, and disappear to find him.
---
He reappeared to harass Shang Qinghua over half a year later.
“You need to reforge Xin Mo,” Shang Qinghua said. “But you’ll need to do more. As you might have found, Shen Qingqiu is nowhere on either world and the heavens have not sent a sign yet that he is with them. No soul has responded to inquiry, not unless he was split apart beyond anything recognizable, he must have been pulled far away.” His eyes shifted. He wasn’t telling Luo Binghe something. “But we can’t be certain. Try your alternate Bingge’s world and see if he’s been sucked in first.”
“That’s exactly what I’m planning. What will it take to reforge?”
To mine the steel of an immortal mountain, forge it in the fires of a mountain of blood, and slaughter a hundred thousand demons to stain the blade black with its malice. For at least one moon cycle it needs to be embedded in a corpse, preferably a full thirteen moon cycles but they were pressed for time.
“It won’t be as powerful, but it should be enough” Shang Qinghua finished.
Luo Binghe set off to start. How long it would take, he didn’t know. Shang Qinghua said it would take at least three years. He will do it in one.
—-
The cloying darkness of the mine was nothing compared to the anguish in his heart, the burning flames of the bloody mountain were nothing but an added flame to his determination. His hands were bloody and raw, his skin dry and filthy- almost like he was back in the Endless Abyss again.
Every night, he returned to bathe and curl up by his Shen Qingqiu, filled him with spiritual energy, then rose in the morning to take a human or two brimming with fresh spiritual energy and balance out his demonic energy. He wouldn’t have cared if the demonic energy laid waste to his body, but the flash of Shen Qingqiu behind his closed lids- laying stripped and raw and bloody from his uncontrolled hands would always send a shudder of fear deep in his heart. No matter the torment, how easy it would be to let go, he refused to fall for Shizun’s sake.
—-
The new sword was forged in record time (Xin Mo 2 is what he called it) and after a brief reprieve to rest at Shen Qingqiu’s side, kissed his naked cheek, wrapped his arms around his slim waist, and buried his head into his slender neck. He left at the break of dawn drained of spiritual energy and brimming with demonic energy.
First, he tracked down Luo Bingge’s world and traipsed through his cursed realm. It was colder here with Shen Qingqiu’s blood staining the soil. He crashed through the doors of Luo Bingge’s demon palace and found him in the arms of three wives.
“Get out,” he pointed his sword toward the three unfamiliar women. They quickly gathered their clothes and fled from the ominous blade, his ominous gaze.
“I thought you destroyed your sword,” Luo Bingge snarled. He lounged back on the large bed, uncaring of his nudity. He was exactly like Luo Binghe, minus his the scar on his chest and hand, the faithless look in his cold eyes, a cutting edge to his words.
“I did, but I needed it again.” He pointed the blade to Luo Bingge. “Where’s Shizun?”
Luo Bingge arched his brow. “He’s not with you? I only have the remains of mine, do you wish to see him?”
The bloody, lifeless hunk of flesh Luo Bingge kept preserved in his dungeons could not be Shen Qingqiu, the blood soaking the walls and floors and ceiling were not his Shen Qingqiu’s. He felt a whiplash of cold strike through his heart at the thought of and Shen Qingqiu suffering a fate like that, limbless, half-blind, wholly mad, completely shattered even in death. Sometimes, the corpse swinging listlessly from the chain would haunt the deepest recesses of his dreams.
“No. I need mine.”
Luo Bingge spread his arms in welcome. “Feel free to search my realm, turn over every stone and leaf, to find him. But know you are wasting your time.”
With a flourish of his robes, Luo Binghe turned on his heel and marched out of the bedchamber and proceeded to search.
This time it went faster with the help of his demon sword, stopping to flood his system with this realm’s cultivator’s spiritual energy then returned every night to put every drop into Shen Qingqiu.
When he dug through the last mountain, he laid on his back and stared up at the bleak, grey clouds and let his tears drip down to his hairline.
---
He broke through Cang Qiong Mountain’s barriers with ease and kicked down Shen Qinghua’s private chamber’s doors down. A startled screech met his ears followed by a rough thump on the bamboo floors. Luo Binghe went around the private screen to find Shang Qinghua half out the bed, his robes pulled open, and Mo Beijun sitting up next to him, blinking the last remnants of sleep from his eyes. He gave Luo Binghe a short bow of his head and pulled Shang Qinghua up off the floor.
“Can’t you knock? Politely wait outside until I let you in?” Shang Qinghua hissed, pulling his thin robes tightly over his chest. Mo Beijun’s hands were still resting firmly on his waist.
“Good morning to you, too,” Luo Binghe greeted. “Xin Mo 2 is done.”
“Xin Mo 2…” Shang Qinghua muttered, a look of disbelief crossing his features. “Okay, okay let me get dressed and we can discuss what to do next.”
Not long later, Luo Binghe sat with Mo Beijun at Shang Qinghua’s low tea table where he served them fresh tea and snacks. Xin Mo 2 laid across the table, it’s blade an obsidian black, a pale, green jade was mounted in the hilt.
“Interesting touch,” Shang Qinghua noted.
Luo Binghe nodded. “For Shizun.”
“We should test to see if we can reach him in the first place. Have you tried opening a portal yet?” Shang Qinghua asked.
“How do you think I got here?”
“Ah, makes sense. Okay, and you’ve checked Luo Bingge’s realm?”
Luo Binghe nodded darkly. “Get on with it, what else can I do?”
“Since it might be such a far reach, you might not be able to reach him. Here, I thought we could use this to help. Mo Beijun brought this back from the demon realm we might at least be able to use this to catch a glimpse of where he may be at before you go jumping into any portals.” Shang Qinghua stood and bustled to the back of his house, emerging a moment later with a large, smooth obsidian disk. It was about the size of the tabletop, the surface polished to a glossy reflection where even after he cleared off the table and placed it in the middle, his fingerprints dissolved on the surface before their eyes. It didn’t radiate malicious energy as most things from the demon realm would, but a sort of calming threat as if it can strike if striked first.
“Luo Binghe, can you slash the surface with, uh, Xin Mo 2?” He asked him.
Luo Binghe nodded and stood. In one fluid movement, he drew his sword, cut the starless surface, and sheathed it.
The slash in the middle where it was precisely cut seemed to suck in light, the polish surface that had their faces reflected around a moment ago swallowed by the expanding black hole until they were looking down a dark hole carved through the wooden table. They leaned forward, breaths held to catch a glimpse, a sound, of anything.
After a moment of nothing, Shang Qinghua piped up. “You focused on Shen Qingqiu specifically, right?”
“What else would I be thinking of?” It’s not like he could have anything on his mind but Shen Qingqiu.
“I have another hypothesis,” Shang Qinghua stood. “Try again, but let me hold the sword, too.”
Luo Binghe grasper the hilt and pulled it away from Shang Qinghua’s outstretched hand. “No.”
“Do you have any ideas?” Shang Qinghua snapped, a moment of boldness. There was a tilt to his tone, an unfamiliar accent Luo Binghe here crop up when Shang Qinghua thought he was out of earshot with Shen Qingqiu. “I don’t like this either but… ah, I really hope I’m wrong, please Binghe let me try just once?”
He kind of didn’t want Shang Qinghua’s hands anywhere near him or his sword, but he pushed that away and hesitantly held out Xin Mo 2. For Shizun, he told himself. Shang Qinghua’s clammy hand wrapped around his and together they raised the sword and slashed the obsidian mirror.
Like the first time, a black void spread across the surface, but then there were blinding lines of green accompanied by a high pitched, repetitive noise. Shang Qinghua next to him choked on a gasp, a barely heard “oh fuck.” muttered under his breath.
“How did you do that?” Luo Binghe asked. “Why were you able to open a portal to him, and yet I, his own husband, wasn’t?”
Shang Qinghua didn’t answer right away, his eyes glazed over, a similar look She Qingqiu would have sometimes. Mo Beijun watched Luo Binghe and Shang Qinghua with sharp eyes, not caring for the mirror at all. It took a moment before Shang Qinghua responded, blinking himself back down to the present.
“How do I start- uh, I guess with the most obvious, no use tiptoeing around it anymore,” Shang Qingqiu straightened up, his eyes focused on the trailing green lines. “Shen Qinqiu and I transmigrated into this world together. I was hoping my assumptions were incorrect because as being the creator of this world I could come up with a way to get him back, but by the looks of it he was pulled back to where we came from. I have no jurisdiction over there.”
No one spoke, the repetitive noise from the mirror echoed in the chamber.
Surprisingly, Mo Beijun broke the silence first. “Are you a god?”
“Oh my god no, no? Uh, well, yes maybe?” Shang Qinghua was flustered. “I’m a writer back in our realm. This is a story I wrote to pay the bills. I… I died due to unforeseeable circumstances and transmigrated into this world a long time ago at the beginnings of Shang Qinghua’s life. Cucumber bro was a devoted reader who also passed away, a heart thing or whatever. Remember back, what was it, I think twelve, thirteen years ago? When Shen Qingqiu suffered from qi deviation and was changed, losing his memories and his nasty personality?”
Luo Binghe’s heart pounded in his chest, trying to absorb this new knowledge as calmly as he could. This person, this not-Shizun who is Shizun but there hasn’t been a Shizun in many years is the one he’s so thankful for.
Shang Qinghua continued. “This realm’s Shen Qingqiu passed away and as Cucumber bro died cursing my novel, his soul was plopped into his body and told to fix the story if he thinks it’s so terrible.” He turned to Luo Binghe, his accent tilting once again to something he used privately with Shen Qingqiu. “The Luo Bingge you met who tried to take Cucumber bro, that’s the original Luo Binghe I wrote. All because Cucumber bro swore to hug your thigh and treat you better, the whole course of the story changed from my daring stallion novel to this BL. Isn’t that crazy? So many people are alive now all because Cucumber bro took the reigns of this story and changed it for the better.
“Aaah, I originally wanted to write a BL, but it’s not what my readers wanted!” He flopped back down to the ground with a sigh, the harsh green light emanating from the obsidian mirror throwing shadows across his face. “I needed money, I hope you understand but seeing the original scum villain making the protagonist fall in love with him, even I didn’t see that coming!”
“Protagonist?” Luo Binghe finally spoke up. “Scum villain?”
“Yes, you.” He pointed up to Luo Binghe’s looming figure. “You’re the ultimate protagonist! And now Cucumber bro went and made you gay on accident. I’m not terribly mad, but there’s still so much fanservice we’re missing out on!”
“Why did you write such a shitty protagonist the first time around?” The thought of Luo Bingge being his original counterpart made him sick to his stomach.
Shang Qinghua gasped, clutching his chest. “I’ll have you know that despite hating the work as a whole your husband adored the protagonist!”
At that moment the high pitched sound stopped and the green light faded, putting their conversation to a halt. They all leaned forward with their heads crowded around the obsidian mirror as the green lights fizzled away and replaced by a dark room.
Luo Binghe held his breath afraid it might shatter the surface. The room was barely lit, shrouded dark except for lines of pale light striping the edge of the bed and floor. Everything looked weird, too square and smooth. There was a person on the bed, curled up improperly with an arm thrown up, a pale hand knocked against the headboard and a tuft of dark hair were the only things visible.
“Your world is ugly,” Luo Binghe noted, examining what he could see of the smooth walls with glossy portraits hanging from them, the simple furniture all had items he couldn’t figure out what was for. Clothes, at least he assumed so, were spilling out of a basket in the corner and draped across a chair, piled at the foot of the bed, even on the bed. This is most certainly his Shizun’s room, and that must be Shizun asleep.
“Our world is practical, now hush let’s see if he’s gonna wake up,” Shang Qinghua said. As if roused by them, the figure in the bed shifted, rolled over and stretched. He reached over and grappled something on the side table, a smooth, black item that was rectangular and sleek like the obsidian mirror and brought it under the blankets with him.
“A scrying mirror?” He asked.
“Not quite,” said Shang Qinghua
They watched as the figure shifted again and pulled himself up. This man was not Shen Qingqiu, his face too slender and his cheeks too low, the brows and nose broader and his lower lip was fuller to an almost natural pout, but Luo Binghe suddenly recognized those features as to that of the Dew Seed body Shen Qingqiu hid himself in, the features on that one only a 40% match to his body but the other 60% was unmistakably this.
The difference was the short hair. It made Luo Binghe want to weep, especially how it stuck up flat on one side and was a tangled mess on the other. The not Shizun, yawned widely, uncaring for his posture as he slouched down and rubbed his eyes and face hard to wake himself up more. The clothes he wore were unusual, the sleeves short, only reaching to his elbows, and there was no tie to indicate how he got in it.
Not Shizun rolled himself out of the bed, shuffling papers and books that were tucked in the folds of the blankets into a pile and stood with a stretch. Luo Binghe choked and pushed Mo Beijun, turning to Shang Qinghua to do the same but he already had his eyes closed and turned away with a shout of “I’m not looking!” Not Shizun didn’t have anything on his legs! His legs were completely bare, save for the little piece of garment hanging from his hips that barely passed the tops of his thighs. Luo Binghe wanted to cover his eyes for Shizun’s privacy, but also he couldn’t help take in the figure
Shen Qingqiu was slender like a steel-blade, but this Not Shizun (he will never call him Cucumber bro) was paper-thin as if the slightest breeze would send him tumbling. The ends of his hair barely traced his nape and his skin was pale to the point it was almost sickly. Not Shizun leaned over the side table again and put a weird contraption on his face, blinking blurrily into the clear glass and stumbled out the room, most likely to freshen up.
“I think,” Shang Qinghua started. “We were able to locate him only because I have a link to this world too.” He didn’t meet anyone’s eyes through his whole explanation, his gaze firmly fixed on the shapes of the furniture, a melancholic notes to his words. “You should be able to just jump right in and get him back but how will you do that?”
“What do you mean?”
“He has two bodies and one soul,” Shang Qinghua pointed out. “He can’t easily leave his current body without dying again, and Shen Qingqiu is only preserved due to you dutifully replenishing him with spiritual energy. How will you get him back? And consider this.” Shang Qinghua straightened up, an unusually sharp look in his eye. “Will he want to? This is how he lived, everything he knew, until a little over ten years ago he suddenly died and was thrown into a whole other culture and told to survive. He lost his friends and family, everything he worked at and was blessedly given another chance of life but not his life. Now he’s back somehow and he’s clearly making strives to live life to his fullest. Look.”
He pointed to the mirror and Not Shizun was back pulling on clothes that covered his legs and arms, but they were so form-fitting they left nothing to the imagination! His socks barely covered his feet and he watched him roll up the leg of his pants a little, revealing tantalizing ankles. The papers and books he had piled up at the foot of his bed were put into a strange bag and with a strange sound, he sealed it shut, tucking the obsidian rectangle into a pocket at his side. His hair was smoothed down (except when he turned, there was a stubborn cowlick on the back of his head), his face flushed with wakefulness, and he left the room.
“I’ll… we can figure it out once I see him.” There was a moment of silence, the sounds of Not Shizun moving around in another room. “I need to see him at least and if he doesn’t…” he couldn’t bring himself to finish the sentence.
There was a loud clacking sound from Not Shizun’s end followed by the deafening sound of a door shutting, muted clicks concluded his exit.
“I’m heading over.” With a solid location finally set, trying to hold back his hands from quivering, he raised Xin Mo 2 and slashed open another portal, one that will link to the little, messy bedroom viewed in the obsidian mirror. The image in the mirror dissolved without Xin Mo 2’s energy directed into it.
“Wait!” Shang Qinghua stopped him. “Promise me you won’t leave the room until Cucumber bro comes back! Don’t go running after him you might cause a scene just- just wait there in the bedroom until he returns.”
Luo Binghe harumphed and stuck his foot through the portal. “No promises,” he said and lept through.
---
The room was cool, cluttered with unfamiliar items yet done familiarly, like when Luo Binghe first moved into the bamboo house and found out despite his immortal exterior, his Shizun was a mess.
At first, he politely sat by the bed on his knees facing the door, ready to greet his Not Shizun the moment he came home. He watched the light grow brighter through the weird window covers, strips of white that only allowed light in like prison bars. The golden lines moved across the bed, a hum came from outside the window, people moving around above him, below, to the sides.
Curiosity finally got the better of him and he stood to explore the room. Everything was blocky, made of strangely smooth, cool material that wasn’t wood sometimes but lighter, sometimes hollow. The weird white bars on the windows could wiggle. He peeked outside and was met with a textured wall, down below was a grey ground framed with sparse grass between the narrow alley. He turned to further explore the room.
Everything was strange. Books bound in hard casings lined the towering bookshelf, stacked on the floor and dresser. God statues and portraits hung on the walls in vibrant, glossy colors. Clear cups with gunks of something stuck to its sides made Luo Binghe’s nose twitch.
The room was strangely stuffy, outside sounds muted by the hard walls and floors. There was an uncomfortable itch to his neck. Guilt ate at him for snooping around his Shizun’s room and he quickly shuffled back to his spot and knelt on the weirdly soft ground, back straight as a blade and eyes trained on the door with a guard dog concentration.
---
The sun trailed across the room, a peak of a muted blue sky from the pains of glass was the only sense of time he could gather. He could wait, he waited for three years, he waited for five more, and after finally- finally - receiving his Shizun’s affections, he had to wait another year. Determination was the only thing leaving him from straying too far into an aimless wander, but it was still an aimless path he carved himself. Now here the aimlessness was coming to an end and all he had to do was be patient, very patient.
Luo Binghe was a generally neat person and his Shizun was not, but here it felt like he had given up on even trying to keep anything somewhat orderly. It’s fine, it’s one of Shen Qingqiu’s cute traits that only he has the pleasure of knowing about, but a mess like this with the undertone of something rotting in the air mixed with dust and dirty clothes, he couldn’t take it. After sitting diligently on his knees for a few incense sticks time he sprung to his feet and started a mad dash to clean. He easily found the source of the rotting smells (a bowl of something with green fuzz starting to stick to the bottom, a cup with a handle with black stains on the bottom and rim, and a few crushed metal cylinders that read it was energy drink on the sides) and didn’t hesitate to throw them in the can by the door with more trash in it. He gathered all the clothes on the bed and set to sorting out the clean from the dirty based on smell (and if he stuck his nose into a soft coat to take a really good sniff of this new smell he could associate his shizun with, who would know but him?), and gathered the remaining books and stray papers back onto the bookshelf.
It was in the middle of neatly cramming the clean clothes in the wardrobe did he here the distinctive click from the doors opening. He froze, wanting to run out and greet the Not Shizun and yet unsure if the rule applied to him staying in the bedroom only or the entire house. Not wanting to cross any lines and realizing he wasn’t done, he quickly went back to trying to put away the rest of the clothes, dumping the dirty remnants into the wicker basket already packed full. He rolled to the ground and started picking up anything he could, accidentally bumping into the bookcase and one of his god statues came tumbling down. With a suppressed curse on his lips, he brushed her off and gently placed her back up, along with the snapped off arm and did a quick prayer for forgiveness.
He bodily slid back to the ground to his knees by the bed facing the door, trying to adjust his robes to make him look less disheveled. Quiet footsteps were approaching the door slowly, his Shizun was back! He’s almost here! He gripped his clammy hands to his pants in anticipation almost vibrating on the spot.
A sudden clatter and painful, hollow-sounding thunk echoed outside the door instead. Panicked, Luo Binghe lurched to his feet and in two long strides opened the door to find-
The Not-Shizun from the obsidian mirror, sitting upon the ground, one hand holding some weird contraption and the other held up on the narrow wall. The weird lenses he wore had slid down the bridge of his nose to reveal his wide, frightened eyes and his hair was tousled much more than when he’d originally left. With a shaking hand, he pushed it back up to his eyes and the fright turned to shock.
“Binghe?!”
