Commissioned the amazing @magua-vida to draw my original Princesses, The Dancer & The Dream! I'm absolutely delighted with how they came out, they both look so pretty and bursting with personality!

For anyone who doesn't want to click through, you get the Dancer if you unlock the Princess's cuff & die of a heart attack, making her flighty but concerned, fussing over your health & safety. The Dream is Dancer's unique Chapter 3, who you get if you fall asleep in the cabin with Dancer fussing over you, and is smotheringly protective to the point of aggression & possessiveness while acting manipulatively sweet & fragile.

She just wants to take care of you... even (or especially) if it means chaining you up to keep you safe.

Kinda of like, rushing it a little, BUT in the lotr inspired fic, will Bingqiu have another kid, or will Shen Qingqiu be holding his daughter like "I love her, I adore her, I would kill for her, I would burn mountains for her, but that's IT, no more, YOU CAN CARRY THE NEXT ONE, I AM NOT DOING IT!!!" or would answering this be considered a spoiler?

I actually haven't decided yet! But the combination of Binghe's blood parasites keeping his body stable + Mu Qingfang's expertise made things much easier for Shen Qingqiu than they might have been otherwise. He did have a horrible time with his cravings, because Bingqiu baby started dream-walking before she was born and immediately decided that she MUST get to try the brownies and hot fudge sundaes she saw in SQQ's memories. Unfortunately for baby and dad, chocolate doesn't exist in PIDW, so Shen Qingqiu was inconsolable until Hengxia moved on to coconut pudding (much easier to obtain, to Luo Binghe's great relief).

i love making pinterest boards and i rly like trying to make like, my ideal wardrobe in one so i can plan what clothes i eventually wanna get, and so i also try to find pins that are or resemble some of my favorite clothes so i can get an overview of what that full wardrobe would look like right. and one of my fave things so far is that i am entirely unable to find a pin that resembles my olive green afghan coat which i love. like its such a cool and unique piece that i cant find anyone else who has it. i <3 that makes me feel so lucky to have thrifted it :)

i think, at the end of the day, you have to respect the work you are adapting. a writer doesn't have to be a fan of the source material, or strictly follow the primary story, but you have to understand what made it good, what made it appealing, and what it meant to say.

i would say netflix's dungeon meshi rigorously follows the original manga, often panel for panel, to great effect. it's an excellent adaptation that understands the themes and character of the work. it celebrates it for what it is. conversely, i'd argue that amc's interview with the vampire is spectacular precisely because of the way it breaks from canon. it actively 'yes, and's the book, imo, thoughtfully exploring the themes on its own terms. changes are not inherently bad, nor is a perfect replica inherently good.

you can like a work, and not understand it. you can understand it and not be a fan. but if you can't respect it, you should just be writing original work.

one of the funniest things about how much fast fashion has infiltrated /everywhere/ so thoroughly the past decade is the fact that when I went looking for christmas presents I was seeing exactly the same patterns of fabrics used for different outfits in totally unrelated shops- like when I was a kid it'd be unthinkable to see the exact same fabric being sold as a dress in a name brand surf shop and then seeing it as pants in sports girl and then seeing it as a jumpsuit in the expensive hippie shop- these are all completely separate shops, they aren't like sister stores or something, they even have varying price points and yet that exact same print of fabric is in all of them? this never used to happen. if something was sold in a surf shop, it was only in that surf shop. if something was sold in Ghanda, it was only sold in ghanda. Now though? idk, kinda seems like they all order from the same giant offshore manufacturers....

watching mythical kitchen and u kno something i rly appreciate is how they talk abt cheap & processed & additive-heavy foods in like, a positive way?

like so many cooking shows are like 'here is the authentic and real and healthy and pure ingredient, always go with this one it's just better' and like, bcos of that sometimes i feel like when i buy cheap & easy shit that means i'm settling or getting lesser stuff

but for example rn i'm watching one of the ones where they compare ingredienets from nicer stores and cheaper stores and they'll actually stop and talk abt like. how a cheaper version of something tastes good & is good for you. like yeah, there's grains or w/e added to the meat, that doesn't make it less that adds a different texture & different nutrition. yeah, there's extra salt and fat and chemicals added, and we love those, they taste good and make cooking easier. oh, this cheap thing is actually very similar to an established dish that we love, isn't that great! wow you can get unusual flavors of stuff at dollar tree sometimes! etc.

and it never feels fake it's all very genuine abt what they actually like and the dollar-for-dollar breakdown of things is helpful and the like, comparison of hey, here's what's actually worth it to get the pricier version of, here's what you can get the cheap one and still enjoy it just as much. it's good i'm having a good time.
