KM: It’s a bit weird and it’s like a bit of going back to school and seeing all your mates again. I’m glad there is something very comforting, and very almost relaxing about a third year. I mean, People have said, very nicely you guys, that there ehmm is a sense of confidence in the show that has been recommissioned. And you got a sense of swagger in your walk and coming back to third season when it’s frankly been more successful than any of us could ever have thought. And you do have a different sort of stature and a different sort of feeling. And it’s nice to come back and see everyone again.

Q: And last time we saw Morgana she had been swept away so can you tell us how you get back here?

KM: Oh can I? Can I? Can I? I don’t want to spoil it for you guys but needless to say the third season opens and a year has passed. Morgana is found at ehmm the start of episode one and it’s discovered that she has been duped by Morgause and she’s very apologetic and sees the error of her ways and things like that. She apologizes to everyone but the question is of Merlin doesn’t completely trust her, whether what’s she’s saying is true and you don’t quite know whether which way it’s going to go. So you know it’s typical “Merlin.” It’s the legend but it’s never the way that you think it’s going to be. So prepare for suprises.

Q: I think the third series is darker.

KM: You know and I think you could see that from the second series in the way that was going. Definitely the last three episodes were much much darker. The third series follows on from that. And it’s quite a bit of, sort of, Yeah it’s dark and has more conflict but at the same time it still does those great sort of one episode funny family comedy episode like you have with the troll last year and things like that, it still continues in that vein. But There’s also a more of a sense of a feeling of a continuous storyline this time which is nice as well. So yeah we’re gonna wait and see.

Q: Will we see more of Morgana’s magical element coming out?

KM: I hope so. I’m telling you I cannot wait for the bit where you know, Merlin and Morgana having that big magical battle. But I’m not sure how soon the way that is because you see in season 2, she’s not in full control and I think that is going to be a while in coming.

KM: Obviously the main magical being in the show is Merlin. He’s the one who has the ability and the control of it. Morgana’s magic is very different, it’s far more linked to her emotions. And once she gets her emotions, and her fears and everything like that under control, I think that her magic will follow. So I think she has to become more assured of what she is before she is able to do that.

Q: What’s Morgana’s relationship with Merlin like right now, considering what happened in the last series?

KM: I think at the start of season 3 she honestly understands why he did what he did ehm and she was anxious to repair their relationship back to the way they were. Because at the end of the day Merlin was the one who understood her and who knew the truth about her and emphathised with her and I think you see in episode one, her... her trying to get back to that. So...

Q: Do you think he trusts her?

KM: I think he’s resolute to trust her because she is apologetic and he does I think want to believe her but, you know, experiences taught him to be wary. Quite like you(the interviewer) sound.

Q: What kind of creatures and enemies will we be seeing in this series?

KM: Ehmm, The first couple of episodes are actually, they’re more, the villains are more people rather than magical monsters which is actually quite nice! It’s a difference and ehmm. So with have the very lovely Milly Fox as Morgause who is coming back and she has a partner in crime being played by Tom Ellis, fantastically actually! Head-to-toe in leather which is interesting. Ehm and I think that might be a sort of a triangle that you might see more of as the season goes on. Ehm and definitely the Morgana/Morgause relationship is a very important one for Merlin and our telling of the story so hopefully she’ll be back.

KM: And then we have Mark Williams, playing a goblin, voicing a goblin in one of the episodes, which we had a readthrough. He was hilarious, I swear, in stitches... So we got some good ones, you know? You never think! Coz in the first season, it was the little show, it was this tiny little show that was filmed down in Cardiff. It was about magic and nobody really knew and it just keeps getting bigger and the caliber of people we get coming in, you know, at the start of every read through they sort of let us know, and we just hang there open-mouthed. Coz were on to, sort of I’m not gonna tell you, give you away any of them.. We’re onto about the ninth episode and the guest stars are getting better and better and shockingly so. So...

Q: What else do you think the series holds for Morgana?

KM: What else does it hold? More power, one can only hope. Fingers crossed. Thing is, We don’t actually know. When we get the scripts, it as much as a surprise to us as it is to anyone else. And the producers keep quiet, you know, quite quiet about what they have coming up more often than not coz sometimes the script works and sometimes it doesn’t so they don’t tell us what’s coming up because, you know, in case we get attached to something that doesn’t happen. And as well it gives you that element of surprise. It gets the end of filming a [block?] and you know everyone’s going “what do you think is going to happen?” so it- it keeps everything fresher for you so I have actually have no idea what’s going to happen to morgana at the end of season 3 because “Merlin” is never the way that you expect! I know I keep coming back to this but it’s always something out of left field so as much as I’m waiting I’m sure you are too.

there's an easy answer here and it's valentino, but luckily he's retired so you can't just go with that cop out. like he definitely wanted to fuck that bike and tbh I'm not sure the 'if they could' caveat even applies here. I fully believe he has fucked that bike

my sense is that he has passed this on to his proteges, who to varying extents do seem like they have all considered fucking a bike. the furthest along this spectrum is bez, who as I understand it has in the past even given his two bikes separate names that can be combined to give the bike's compound name ("I didn't want two different names as that would be like having two girlfriends, which is weird"). this is metaphysically fascinating in many ways, but is also a clear case of someone overthinking things. like, I think if you believe you are in a committed relationship with your racing bike, you do need to treat your bike's 'soul' as something that can transcend the specific bike you are currently riding. when valentino talks about his relationship with the m1, obviously he knows it's not literally the same bike year-to-year, but spiritually it's the same bike. whereas bez is performing odd mental gymnastics here to establish that his two bikes have a unitary soul rather than just, like, accepting that all these bikes have the same soul anyway if he wants them to. bez is the type of guy who wants to fuck his bike but is so hung up on the various philosophical bike-fuck-cuck implications that he never actually manages to fuck it

riders do generally have very weird relationships with their bikes, but it would be too easy to assume they all want to fuck their bikes. with some, there's clearly more of a spiritual identification with the bike, where they see the bike as an extension of themselves. marc is the poster child here: that man does not want to fuck his bike, he thinks he is his bike. both his bike and his body are frequently treated in a distressingly utilitarian manner, where in his mind they exist to fulfil a single purpose, aka 'winning races'. this is how you get him talking about the mechanics fixing the bike and the doctors fixing the body and all that other stuff. it's only been in recent years where, for obvious reasons, he's become a little more aware of how he does actually need to treat his body like a precious resource... but like with the bike, he does still seem pretty ready to repeatedly chuck it in the gravel. despite this apparent lack of care or basic self-preservation instincts, the riders who identify with bikes - who see their souls as one with the bike - don't necessarily have an entirely non-sensual relationship with their bikes... but it's a little different to wanting to fuck their bikes. the sensuality is still there, but the bike and the rider are not distinct units where one can fuck the other. whether you take this to mean that they want to be the bike who is fucked or that there's more of an autosexual situation happening here is up to the reader's interpretation

another interesting question is whether there are some riders who want their bikes to fuck them. I feel like this has to be a thing, though it's a little harder to find explicit evidence here. in some ways, if you set aside the literal order in which bike and rider are arranged, some of the dynamics of riding a bike would lend itself to an interpretation that being attracted to a bike is more about being fucked by the bike than fucking it. this raises another interesting question - and it's whether it's the process of riding a bike in itself that is arousing, or whether the attraction comes from something different. now, to return to our best case study: my sense is that for valentino, he primarily does want to fuck that bike... and it's not necessarily the riding itself that's really doing it for him. it's a very romantic connection, it's about being enamoured with this partnership they've forged and the mutual promise and potential therein. he's in love with winning on that bike, he's in love with what the two of them can achieve together. this isn't about the literal process of approaching a corner on an m1... valentino is at his most attracted to his bike after he has just won on it. here he is stroking his bike after phillip island 2004 (where he sealed his first yamaha title by beating sete in a last lap duel) and laguna 2008, and also him kissing his bike after catalunya 2009

the last metric I wish to bring in is the need to feel desired by the bike. this is an ego thing, right... the partnership with the bike at the point of victory flatters the ego. the harmonious and productive relations between rider + partner reflects well on them; it bags them a bunch of lovely things from everyone around them like 'appreciation' and 'affection' and 'praise'. thus the bike also reflects on the rider... both in terms of the attractiveness of the bike to the world at large (making it function as a trophy spouse of sorts) and in terms of the quality of the bond between rider and bike. being wanted by the best bike is particularly flattering - but the most important thing is to be wanted at all. I would posit that this is part of what's going on with jorge martin's whole deal, a man who desperately needs to be praised and wanted. the aprilia's no ducati, but at least he's its first choice, y'know. my belief is that jorge martin wishes to be wined and dined by that bike

in conclusion, I would like to propose a basic way of assessing what flavour of sensual relationship the rider has with the bike:

my belief is that most (if not all) riders fall somewhere in this triangle. you have the freaks like marc who are very close to the top and you have the freaks like valentino who are very close to the bottom and probably skew hard left. others are perhaps a little more versatile in their preferences. I don't feel like I have sufficient information to sort all the riders to the correct spot of the triangle, but I hope the general construct holds up. that is all

Tell me about the most disturbing art you've seen with your own two (ten) eyes.

It was January of this year.

Me and my family were fortunate enough to be on a vacation in Italy, and while we were in Florence we went to The Uffizi (I’m spelling that wrong but who cares) art gallery, which is said to be the most extensive and important art museums in the Western world. In it are works such as Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, The Duke and Dutchess of Erbino, and so many more I can’t even list them. The Uffizi is so large and full of masterpieces that some, upon leaving, feel sick to their stomachs from all the beauty they have seen.

My father was an art history major in college, and he has such an extensive and encyclopedic knowledge of art that going to art museums with him is like getting a private tour guide who isn’t annoying. As we stared in awe at the pale contours and knowing gaze of Venus of Urbino, my father told us about the different kinds of perspective when painting, and the way color symbolized things, and why certain paintings were controversial for their time. It was truly fascinating, and one of the greatest experiences of my life.

As the day was winding down and we were preparing to leave, we went through the bottom floor part of the gallery to see a few essentials we had missed. Along the way, me and my mother got separated from the group. We wandered through a couple of rooms, feeling that sickness that people had described before us. It was a barrage of people’s life’s works, things that so many individuals had spent so much time and resources on to create, and we could never look at them all.

And then we came to one room with a painting that covered almost the whole wall. We stop to look at it in curious, slightly horrified fascination.

Now, nudity in art is something that everyone should be perfectly fine with. I had seen plenty of nudity that captured the reverence that the artists felt for the human physique. I know the value of this. I also had just had my father talk in one ear about how important the center point of a painting is, how the place where you’re eyes are drawn says something about what the artist wants you to take away. In The Birth of Venus, swirling perspective takes your eyes to her stomach in the center of the painting, indicating sensuality and fertility. In the other ear, my mother (who was a pastor for the better part of her life) spoke of the stories depicted in many of the paintings we had seen that day. All of these things ran through my head as I analyzed the painting in front of me.

Now, by all intents and purposes, this is an incredible paining. It’s called Moses Defending the Daughters of Jethro, and it depicts Biblical Moses beating up the attackers of his soon-to-be wife, Ziporrah (right). It’s dynamic, it’s loud. It uses triangle perspective to draw your eyes to the center, the dead center, where…

Why is his penis doing *that*???

It’s in motion, mid swing, and the moment that the artist chose makes it point right at Ziporrah. And this is a slightly cropped version. This full sized painting has Moses’ penis pointing directly at Ziporrah as the dead fucking center. This is where your eyes naturally go when you look at it. This is what the painter wants you to see. And, although in a better mindset I could be more mature about it, I was so tired. And my mom started laughing a bit, and it just kinda spiraled. So now me and my mom are trying not to laugh our asses off in this prestigious gallery, and my grandma comes in and thinks it’s funny too, and now we’re all trying to not be disrespectful about it. One of the best memories of the trip tbh lol.

What do you think of the similarities between the Iroquois creation myth and avatar? I noticed the use of sky woman in the myth while the movies refer to humans as sky people. The sky woman fell off a floating island, but the animals helped her which definitely reminded me of jake and Eywa answering his prayer. There is also the good and bad twin but maybe I'm reaching here.

Tbh i think its quite a stretch to compare the Skywoman creation myth to Jake and Avatar.

Now, I am in no way an Iriquois scholar or anythinng, but according to resources i've found on a quick search, Skywoman didnt fall from the floating island that she lived on bc she was escaping anything. Some sources say she was pushed, other say she just happened to fall. But she lived on the floating island which had no disease, sadness, nor death. This contrasts greatly with Earth, where terran life is set in a dystopian hellscape, and leaving for Pandora was meant to be an escape from that. "Skypeople" is a very literal epithet for humans the Na'vi gave to them bc they came to Pandora from the sky via aircraft. The Na'vi never had a word for humans bc they never needed one, so the compound noun, tawtute (literally taw - sky, tute - person) sufficed fittingly. I dont think its meant to parallel the Sky People of the floating island, which i think is only a rough translation from various languages of the Iriquois confederacy. And i dont rlly think the parallel can be made bc the implications dont rlly hold up.

Also I dont think theres much comparison between the dynamic with Skywoman and Earth (and the first water and aerial creatures in the myth) and Jake and Eywa.

Skywoman was aided by animals who saw her falling to Earth, yes, but she was a source of life that the animals helped to bring to the world below and she was a catalyst that helped bring about Turtle Island itself. I think this contrasts greatly from Jake's role, which seemed to be more of a messiah or omen that follows a abrahamic "savior" or "chosen one" archetype than a metaphysical lifebearer or primordial catalyst for life (which already existed harmoniously on Pandora). Even Jake defecting and being the catalyst to bring about the hordes of animals to aid in the final battle doesnt rlly compare to the animals aiding Skywoman in her fall bc Jake originally started out as a secret harbinger of displacement and destruction bc of his assignment; Skywoman was life itself, and was never a force of primordial destruction or disarray to the world.

I think its also just too much of a stretch to compare Jake having a twin brother to the twins Skywoman gave birth to in the world. Jake having a twin brother was just to make the story convenient and somewhat be a foil to his brother (Tom was smarter, has higher status, and higher credentials than Jake, his "opposite", who was more impulsive, lower status, and had less credentials in the Avatar program and maybe in real life wrt education). Jake was genetically compatible to "drive" his brothers avatar bc they were identical twins, so neither he nor Tom were particularly mystical habringers of elements of life and death to Pandora.

I see what ur going at anon but i think its quite superficial. And personally I dont feel comfortable comparing any Indigenous myths to Avatar's plot since Cameron made many mistakes w white savior tropes in both movies (particularly A1) and also was very explicit in interviews that A1 was, contradictingly, supposed to be an overt parallel abt colonialism and his fascination with male explorers settling or exploring "exotic", alien lands (so, Jake Sully is an explicit variation on John Carterc and Avatar "jungle adventure" series).

I think its best to take Avatar for what it is, since its an original screenplay and story; its explcitly and overlty made to represent a story abt colonialism and inulgent scifi rich white male fantasies as claimed by the creator and director, who, to my knowledge, never said or intended for the movie to have a deep inspiration on Native culture for more than the aesthetic and general evocation of Indigenity for sake of the themes.

Tbh, the concept of very complex math existing in bug hollow knight freaks me out for no reason other than the fact that I hate math

FUCK YOU'RE RIGHT THAT'S WHERE IT WAS...which really is a massive oversight on my part because I actually have the Wanderer's Journal, but I never got to do much more than skim through it because of a mixture of college and me becoming overly fascinated with the implied dynamics between the civilians of Hallownest and the Mantis Tribe. So that was on me, because I remember lost-kin on tumblr saying that and then linking to the source and me just completely forgetting the fact that it was in the Wanderer's Journal vs some sort of dev interview.

The fact that Hallownest was canonically constructed with minimal impact on the surrounding environment is cool as fuck though, and I really love that little detail about how PK's constructive element intertwines with WL's affinity with nature. It's something that I noticed at the beginning of the White Palace, where everything is very open, spacious, and the architecture is designed to allow plants to coil around it and flourish, but yeah the fact that the rest of Hallownest (with the exception of Fog Canyon, which was terraformed for Monomon) has that sort of seamless blending in with the rest of its surroundings is def. something that I really enjoy about the overall design of Hollow Knight. Mostly because it just indicates how much the Pale King and the White Lady loved each other, where PK's construction aims to embellish the natural world rather than fight against it, as seen in the Queen's Station, White Palace, and the Queen's Gardens. That def. drops off with Crystal Peak, but also alas that kind of makes sense considering the fact that Crystal Peak was Radi's territory, and turning it into a mining complex for energy serves the duel purpose of destroying her legacy as well as getting the resources needed to power the trams.

(granted I'm also biased because my mom is an ecologist and I'm in conservation biology, so sustainable architecture is something I'm super super into, but sTILL. Excited to see how Pharloom compares to Hallownest, esp. since the tribes of Hallownest stuck clearly to their traditional means of building their homes, while Pharloom looks like a clusterfuck of different cultures tied together with industrialism)

Agreed on the very complex bug math thing, though. I hate mathematics and engineering. I mean, it makes sense given PK's...everything, but I'll leave bug physics and calculus to him and him alone methinks.

pretty much none of those tests are going to be accurate/valid anyway because a.) the way words and sentences are interpreted varies from person to person, b.) the test creator might have biases and stereotypes in their questions pertaining to a certain function and their placement, c.) they may not even use functions or jungian concepts at all rendering the test invalid and misleading anyway (e.g. 16personalities), d.) jungian typology is not trait-based and is inherently difficult if not outright impossible to “test”

16p CONSISTENTLY gives my actual INFJ / Ni(Fe-Ti)Se friend @decamarks “ENFP” no matter how many times she takes it because her big five is high in extraversion and low in conscientousness (social extraversion =/= jungian extraversion btw).

no test is going to be fully accurate. in order to correctly identify your type you need to actively involve yourself in understanding the mechanics and dynamics of cognitive functions. it’s also the only way to get any real use out of it for understanding how you tick and process information, so taking a test for your type also sort of defeats the entire purpose. don’t rely on a test and leave your type up to a surprise result!! if you feel like you’re boxing yourself in, it’s because you probably are; it’s not supposed to be used to box yourself in. you also need good reliable sources that aren’t vague about how they consider the concepts, and that’s pretty much my main motivation and goal in sharing good resources that are universally workable and actually cut through the fat and misleading information to get straight to the heart of it.

Thoughts about GinTae? I did spent 7 months mostly talking about them. I’m one of the blogs that always dominate the tag recently (but not Top posts, just the recent and tagged ones). My thoughts about them are all over the place.

It’s become one of my favorite OTPs tbh. Mainly because of the complexity of both the characters and constant subversion of common story tropes.

Since their dynamic is a central part of the story, my resources are almost limitless. I can study GinTae from Lesson 1-704 (+2 movies) and still discover something new every time.

Otae + Yorozuya is in almost every volume, even I am confident of that fact.

As a ship, It’s fascinating that their dynamic don’t hinge on

GinTae as a dynamic hinges on the deep trust and belief they have each other. In GinTae there is a constant theme of “keep moving forward” and “keep your soul intact despite the pain and changes in your life.” It’s such a mature view on life tbh. And it’s also the central theme of the story. Because of this they act like they’ve been together for decades (even though it’s only 3-5 years in canon).

GinTae has flipped every relationship dynamic out there in an interesting way. They just feel more real and balanced (human?) compared to most, which also makes writing them challenging because both of them never stick to one trope, they constantly evolve in an organic way.

That’s so hard to portray in fiction tbh, especially on a main dynamic. Most pairings I know that are like that are only established couples that show up once or twice.

Moreover their partnership connects all the characters. You can never talk about GinTae and exclude Shinpachi, Kagura, the Joui, the Shinsengumi, Oniwabanshu, Kabukichou, Edo, Snack Otose, Yoshiwara, Yagyuu, Hedoro & kin, the Diviners, Mimawarigumi, the Shogunate, Kaientai, Kiheitai, the priestesses, etc. GinTae is the dynamic that ties you to the whole Gintama world because Gintoki and Otae had established lasting and secure connections with all of these groups. They don’t isolate each other from the rest. Their dynamic is almost a community thing. They are for everybody.

The above is mainly because Otae is Yorozuya. And many fans do not acknowledge that, I dont know why. She’s a core member of their team despite not always being with them physically. Take a time to read every encounter she has with them and you find out early on that she’s very much their home base, challenger, biggest support system and deputy leader when sht goes down the drain.

That’s why GinTae is so refreshing to me... they don’t need the usual ingredients for a strong ship. It tickles my brain so much how sorachi made them work by making them a strong functional/familial friendship compared to most (and puts that in so much of the comedy).

To me GinTae do not complete each other. They supplement each other. Both of them are just fine on their own. But together they are solid.

Ah anyway, I’ve said too much.

The Chungha album is this weirdly perfect example of what happens when someone tries to pull off a foreign genre in their music (Spanish/latin pop in this case) based exclusively on what they THINK it sounds like, without taking the time and the effort to immerse themselves in the music and culture they're trying to replicate.

The album's title is in Spanish, some songs even have Spanish lyrics, and yet no matter how much I listen to it the music does /not/ sound latin. Or not latin enough, at least. It is fascinating to see how when a Korean person does what they think latin pop is, it somehow lands them closer to Romanian pop than anything remotely Spanish (a good number of songs in Querencia sound like they could be releases by Romanian singer Inna)

Tbh I'm a little sad at how weak this full album was. Kpop artists don't often get the opportunity to release something like this, full-length and 21 songs long. The possibilities were endless, but she went for average sounding chart toppers that somehow miss the very concept she herself chose for the work.

this is a Read...like such a Read especially the last paragraph. lord all the way down to romanian pop 😭😭. i think your thoughts reflect exactly what kpop is...like when u think of kpop it’s a whole melting pot of anything that’s trendy but just taken up or down a notch...there’s nothing that defines kpop sound wise over the last 20 years or so. chungha’a whole latin concept does fall flat bcuz in general kpop doesn’t take anything seriously it just tries to move thru concepts as quickly as possible (if that makes sense). and all of the songs are generic bcuz they were meant to be made for anyone and then pumped out (also i don’t think her company has the resources for better more dynamic producers).

My fav thing about the klebekah dynamic:

So, klebekah. I simply love them if it isn't obvious by now lmao, their codependent and dysfunctional toxic relationship fascinates me so much. They're litteraly the most important person in each other's life and I love that, I love how they understand one another with just a look, I love how they never gave up on each other for a thousand years despite all the betrayals, I love how they adore and worship one another, I LOVE THEM.

Rebekah was the person klaus loved the most in the world (besides hope ofc) it's actually funny how most of the fandom doesn't realize the impact she always had on him, she was his humanity for a thousand years, she was his constant (along with Elijah ) and he was hers, and as we saw on the show Rebekah was the person he showed affection the most.

As for rebekah, Klaus was the man she ADORED since she was a little girl, he was her big brother, the person she wanted to be like when she gets older, her protector, soulmate and best friend. Rebekah was the only person who never actually tried to change him, she loved him as he is during a thousand years and I LOVE THAT.

-The thing that drawn me to them:

Are a lot of things but THE CHEMISTRY was what made me fall in love, fun fact: but the first time I discovered klebekah I was watching a tvd scene on YouTube a couple of years ago and coincidentally it was their 3×03 Chicago flashback scene with Stefan, and I thought they were a sort of threesome of something lmao and when I knew they were siblings I was shocked but continued to ship them anyway cause why not.

Oh boy, this is a very DIFFICULT question cause I practically love all their freaking scenes, but I eventually have to choose so there you go:

-I'll begin with tvd:

-There's 3×03, of course, THIS WHOLE EPISODE IS FULL OF INCEST. the "I'm not your girlfriend", the "choose him or me" Klaus' jealousy, the eye sex, the daggering session, the hand holding, EVERYTHING SCREAMED KLEBEKAH. This ep was such a strong introduction to their strange dynamic.

-3×04: my fav thing about this ep is Klaus taking rebekah to shop and being a child about it. He was so done with her already but at the same time so happy to have her around again. I loved the surprised expression on Stefan's face the whole time, he was not used to this side of Klaus, he was not used to Klaus being wrapped around someone's little finger. I loved their little conversation when she was trying that dress and she said something about women in the 21th century dressing like prostitues and that she got dirty looks for wearing trousers and then Klaus said you wore trousers so women today could wear nothing. Lmaooo it was hilarious.

- 3×15: "I hated you when I learned that you killed our mother but after a thousand years together as a family you're the only one who never left me "

" Aren't we a pair ?" THIS MF LINE GETS ME EVERYTIME. I don't have words to describe what it does to me but I love this scene and the fact that Klaus thought that rebekah was going to show him her torturer's skills makes it better.

-3×18: " you destroyed our family" "I wanted a family they just didn't want me, and now that we're unlinked we're no longer responsible for each other" "so are you leaving ?" "As soon as a get my stakes I'm gone..... I'm gonna make a NEW FAMILY of hybrids" "and if I choose to stay ?" "Then you're just as pathetic as Finn " THIS WHOLE scene was a masterpiece, them looking at each other like that makes me wanna give them a hug:

-3×20: it wasn't really a klebekah scene cause it was Esther in Rebekah's body but the way Klaus smiled at her and agreed to go to the dance JUST for her melt my heart.

-3×22: oh gosh this one, breaks my heart but love it so much " how dare you save Caroline over me ?" " You left me !" "it's always been me, not Finn not Elijah no Kol ME, I LOVED YOU through everything and you don't even care " and then he chokes her and say something he -IM SURE- regrets immediately "you know something rebekah you're right I don't care, from this moment on you're not my family you're not my sister you are nothing " and then he breaks her neck. I HATE THIS SCENE BUT I LOVE IT. these two needed couple therapy. Klaus was horrible, she watched him die, she mourned him, her heart broke. He could've told her about his plan tho ? I'm still wondering why he didn't but I guess he was just being an asshole as usual and took her as granted. And him saving Caroline over her was not it.

-4×04: the flashback hunter scene "YOU TRUSTED HIM OVER ME " "WHAT DID HE PROMISE YOU " "TELL ME REBEKAH " it was like he caught her cheating on him lmaooo. On the same episode there's the famous line "laugh at the girl who loved too easily but I would rather to live my life than yours Nik, no one will ever sit around a table telling stories about a man who couldn't love" the way he looked down after her saying that breaks my heart, cause Klaus could love, he LOVES her, then he daggers her -cause he's a paranoid bastard- and he cries about it.

-Let's switch to TO scenes:

-1×02: this episode is one of my favs but the best scene was when Klaus was choking Hayley after he learned that she wanted to abort the baby then, rebekah slammed him against the wall (it was hot tbh lmao) and she said "it's okay to care, it's okay to want something that's all Elijah was trying to do all he's ever wanted for you, all we've ever wanted." The way he looked her deep in the eyes gets me everytime, he was trying so hard not to cry. Then they sat together, exhausted, and Klaus told her about his plan -that involved giving Elijah to marcel lol- and if she doesn't like it, there's the door.

-1×03: one of my fav episodes too and it has so many good klebekah scenes, “that depends what plan you mean love my plan for global domination or rebekahs plan to find love in a cruel cruel world”  then she giggled and threw a pen at him so lovingly lol. They were teasing and all flirty with each other in front of Hayley and they acted as nothing happened the night before and Klaus never gave Elijah to marcel, after that they teamed up and everything was going fine but Klaus happened. then there's the masquerade ball scene when Klaus called rebekah " you really are a hideously evil little thing aren't you "

and them being jealous watching marcel and cami dancing. later in  this ep theres the famous “you disgust me” scene, the tension was so thick i acually thought they were about to kiss and have sex on that damn piano lmao but klaus as usual disapointed rebekah, she trusted him against all her better instincts and he choose to act against her back cause he thought his plan was smarter.

-I'm not sure in which episode this scene is but I remember Klaus telling rebekah "you were quite resourceful today..... sometimes I think I don't give you your due little sister" it was so cute cause Klaus knows that he doesn't give Rebekah enough credits, and she was so happy to hear him say that.

-1×14: the famous "YOU CANNOT HIDE FROM ME REBEKAH" this episode had me crying the first time I watched it, Klaus was so angry, disappointed and hurt, he could not believe that his baby sister did this to him, that he was in denial for almost a century and he for that she must pay. "Rebekah would not call my father no matter how angry she was " "enough of your lies" even after seeing the truth from the source he still couldn't believe it cause he loved her so freaking much and he thought she did too.

Then them fighting and Klaus getting turned on by her beating his ass up

-1×15: this mf scene.

The kiss, THE FREAKING CLOSE TO THE LIPS KISS. the sexual tension in this scene was HUGE, Klaus finally "set rebekah free" and he was DRUNK doing it. "We don't have to run anymore, we've found a home" and the look on Rebekah's face is priceless, she was shocked and almost guilty cause at this time she has already called mikeal and Klaus was a little too late.

Also in the same episode, THE BLOOD SHARING. Look at them just look at them.

-1×16:

THE BABY MIKAELSON FLASHBACK !! OMG, this scene melts my heart. "Don't be afraid I won't let it hurt you " "will you stay with me till the storm ends ?" And he did stay with her no matter what. I love this scene cause it shows how close and protective they were of each other since forever. Then he gives her the wooden knight so she can be brave. I'm soft.

Then there's this one too ! I love how Rebekah was actually the only one to ever stand against mikeal, she even tried to kill him, just for Klaus. So much devotion.

I'm still not over this one, the hurt on Rebekah's voice as she says those words, Klaus's tears, the whole episode was so angsty but this scene was IT. and then he realised what he did to her, that instead of protecting her he was hurting and suffocating her so he did something he's not used to do, being selfless, and he let her go.

The 1×22 scene: LITTERALY on top of my fav scenes list ! Klaus giving hope to Rebekah proved how much he trusted her "there's no one I would trust more with my daughter's life" and the fact that she came back just for him (and hope) proved that she never really wanted to leave, she just needed a little freedom. Then when he handed her the little toy I WAS IN TEARS OKAY, it was so soft. They were so happy and relieved to see each other again.

-2×09: "if anything goes south I'll be there to pull you out" "you and I on the same team it must me Christmas" he promised to protect her at any cost and she knew he will. Them teaming up against Esther was so great, then the "take me instead" , Klaus was WILLING to sacrifice his immortal life for REBEKAH, if this isn't pure love then I don't know what it is.

-2×17: another episode losing his shit because his wife-sorry sister is in danger. He let Freya enter his mind just to save her (and he was so suspicious about it cause he didn't want her to know his strategies but in fact he was just afraid she'll know about his questionable taste in woman lmaoo)

And this mf scene is so cute, look at their smiles, the forehead touch, his hand on her neck, here on his arm, FOR YOU FOR NOW. I can't believe this is actually canon.

-2×22: "family tradition!" "Minus the family."

"Well, you're here."" In the skin of your choosing, no less."

"Well, poor you. Because that body is such a hardship."

"You would hand over your crown? And do what?" "Raise my daughter... with the help of my sisters. One big, happy family."

" Now, that does sound grand-- minus the giant, Elijah-sized hole in the room. And, whilst your sisters raise your child, what will the child's mother be doing, exactly?"

"This, dear brother, is not what happiness looks like."

This scene was so important, Klaus was wrong and he needed someone to remind him that what he did was not necessary, that he hurt most of his family, and rebekah was there for that. He wished she'd stray with him to "raise" his daughter but after this scene we see Freya offering her Eva's body so she leaves.

-3×09: "you're always leaving" "and I always come back" THEN THE DAMN HUG. their hugs are always so good, the way they close their eyes and hold each other tight and they seem like they never want to let go of each other. Then she has to leave and make Elijah dagger her without telling Nik, cause she wants Nik to be happy for once.

-3×22: "wasn't you who once told me I could talk my way out of hell " and then they smile affectionately at each other and HUG tightly. After this he took her hand and they both walk to their possible end, and she watches him getting stabbed by marcel after she was forced to say all those things she did and didn't think. The whole trial scene was a masterpiece. I love it.

-4×02: this EP was full of klebekah soft scenes. There was the reunion HUG . the way she runs to him the second she sees him and the way he reaches to her and hugs her tightly to his chest.

The kiss on the cheek after "thank you for not abandoning me" and the way he smiles at her was so SOFT OMG.

-4×03: the goodbye hug "Nik you do not need me anymore, I know that I'm your fav sibling and of course I adore you" "you were the only one who never treated me like s misfit, for centuries my only place was by your side...." AND THEY HUG TIGHTLY AGAIN. this was the first time Klaus let Rebekah do whatever the hell she wanted without fighting or daggering and it was revolutionary to her. (The fact that she's his fav sibling and she KNOWS it makes me so happy lmao).

-5×01: their phone call about Elijah. They were both so lost and devastated without him it broke my heart. "How does he look?" "Happy.."

-5×08: "ah Nik always so dramatic"

They were so happy to be reunited after 7 years of being apart, look at them hugging each other so tightly. I LOVE this scene.

-5×12: then there's the goodbye scene, Klaus gave her the cure so he can make up for a thousand years of hurt, "live the life you've always wanted to live, MY SISTER" the way he looked at her so proudly, so in love makes me cry. In my opinion he gave her the cure so they can reunite again in the afterlife. Both him and Elijah can't live or die without her, they're supposed to be together, they're meant to be together and the cure will bring her to them, to him, again. It was such a good scene, the hug, the last glances, everything.

And that's it!!! I'm sure I forgot some other scenes but those are the most important. ❤️

I love the hc that Alice is Asian and I hc her specifically as Chinese because she’s from Mississippi, right? Many Chinese immigrants began moving to MS right after the Civil War in order to pick cotton, but they quickly transitioned to owning grocery stores. The “Delta Chinese” sold goods to black people because white grocers refused. I think it would be especially interesting pertaining to her relationship with Jasper. But maybe since she doesn’t remember being human it doesn’t matter?

That’s super interesting! I’d heard a lot about the Chinese diaspora in the old west, but had never heard of the Delta Chinese. That would make an excellent backstory for Alice, especially with the Mississippi connection.

I personally have adopted the bandwagon (at least in this part of the fandom) hc that she’s Japanese (thanks, Catherine Hardwicke.) It’s an interesting idea to me because it means she would have lived through the Japanese internment during WWII, riiiiight before she met Jasper. How would she have handled that, as a (presumably nomadic) solo vampire? Did she have go to live in Canada for a few years? How would encountering human racism shape her view of humans, and her resolve to stick to the “vegetarian” diet?

Anyway. You’re right that hc-ing Alice as being of any kind of POC has fascinating implications for her relationship with Jasper, considering his racist background. slight digression, but I actually have a reeeeally interesting prompt in this vein sitting in my inbox…I’ll get to it, anon! It’s a good prompt and I wanna give it its due diligence!

I always hc that Maria was the first to challenge his views on race (and gender.) She doesn’t strike me as the type of person to allow racism or sexism to flourish in her ranks. (Especially since she decided to keep Jasper around long-term, I sure she was like ok then! we’ve got some Work to do on your brokeass views!) I imagine that post- abandonment of Maria, that might have been deeply confusing for him, considering she lied to him about so many other things. Would poc!Alice help him parse through what was true and what wasn’t? I feel like we pose the question of whether or not Alice is Jasper’s “morality chain” a lot, but rarely in this context!

The question of how/if racism and other types of bigotry persist in wider [in-universe] vampire culture is fascinating in itself, tbh. On the one hand, you have all these immortal people who have come from seriously racist/sexist/homophobic/classist human societies. On the other, vampire society is structured so differently! The population is small and spread out, and there are very few institutions of any kind—pretty much just the Volturi (and Romanians and Egyptians before them.) There is only one necessary resource (blood) and little to no competition for it in most of the world. Everyone is more or less equally strong, fast, and attractive, except for the completely random subset of the population that just so happens to have magical superpowers—and these superpowers are equally likely to manifest in anyone, regardless of age, class, race or gender. Hell, the two most powerful, coveted gifts in vampire history both belong to teenage girls. The main “us vs them” dynamic that seems to come into play is vampires vs humankind.

Anyway. Didn’t mean to go on a long tangent about vampire society, but your ask was super thought-provoking! Blackwall2. What did they choose to do with him and how did they feel about their choice? Were they guilty about leaving him in cell, if they choose to do so?

Blackwall joined the Inquisition and stayed until the Inquisitor could declare victory. Blackwall considered the Inquisitor a friend. Gryff strongarmed him out of prison using Inquisition resources and had him continue to fight as part of the Inquisition. ah, but his judgement specifics was a tough one. on one hand, she doesn’t care about what he did before she met him and things he did while outside the Inquisition. she doesn’t care about treason to a human kingdom, nor about the murder of nobles really. on the other, she values honesty and not being a coward, and more importantly, the betrayal of the loyal men under his command was unconscionable and indefensible to her - you protect your men, soldiers who trust you with their lives as their commander. to do otherwise goes against everything she believes in, she’d sooner die herself than betray her men. that was what she took most issue with really, over the general deception, lies or the murder of some people. if he’d done that or a similar thing as part of the Inquisition, while he was under her command, she would have executed him without a second thought. she had respected him as a warrior and as a Warden, but her respect for him completely nosedived and evaporated on learning what transpired between him and his men.

the first time around I had her free him and reveal his identity, but in hindsight I think it makes more sense for her as a character to opt to send him to the Wardens to undergo the Joining for real after Cory’s defeat. thank goodness for the Keep eh?

Solas1. Did your Inquisitor engage Solas academically with questions or were they uninterested in his experiences?3. If your inquisitor was told they were “unlike others of their race” by Solas, how did they respond? Were they angry or grateful? 

1. not at first, because she mistrusted him from the outset. she also has little interest in intellectual matters outside of theories of war (and definitely not in the metaphysical), and did not appreciate Solas’ criticisms of and comments about the Dalish. silly really, because they each looked down on the other for a time. it made for a bad combination initially - they had a strange, bitter and belligerent association for a time. the development into mutual respect, comrades-in-arms and eventual friends there is really interesting to me, maybe I’ll write about it to chart it out ‘on paper’ someday.. it doesn’t follow the game exactly.

she came to accept that he was an expert on the Fade, the anchor and the sort of forces she was dealing with when it came to sealing the Breach. consequently, ever the pragmatist, she sought his counsel on those subjects and had him join her in the field as she journeyed around closing tears. eventually her Dalish desire and drive to recover and relearn as much of the past and their culture/history as possible got the better of her pride and distrust, and she would ask him about what he’d seen in his travels through the Fade, about ancient elves, the ancient elven kingdom and what had been lost. then about other stuff, like spirits (her growing friendship with Cole helped springboard that one, she wanted to understand Cole better) and magic in general. and it went from there really. (I will say that I dooon’t headcanon or think of Solas and Gryff as having had a teacher/student or elder/child relationship, for me personally that’s an uncomfortable power dynamic. I think of them as two equals who just had different areas of knowledge and expertise, who learned from one another in a give and take sort of way. I think it’s possible to pick someone’s brain/knowledge banks about a topic without that kind of dynamic being present.)

he did continue to frustrate her sometimes with his occasional bursts of intellectual and general superiority, tendency to longwindedness, and especially over their clashing ideas on how to help the elves. I tend to think that some of the arguments Solas has with Disapproval Inquisitor still occur in a manner of speaking between Solas and Gryff. you know, like DA:I’s main basegame plot spanned a whole year or so and a lot can happen in a year, and Solas content was not as extensive as some of the other companions’ were, particularly as a romance compared to the others. a game is inevitably constrained by length, resources, simplistic axes like “approval” and “disapproval”, unrealistic mechanics like “touch all these orbs for bonus approval points”, etc. real relationships between people are obviously a lot more complex. ah sorry.. these 2 just fascinate me so much, 2 very different individuals who both deeply love the People but have totally different ideas about how to help them.

3. he did tell her that, and she was angry. smh Solas. Gryff believes the Dalish made her who she is, that she’s no different from the rest of them and that Solas misjudged them. she loves and respects the Dalish. there are the new pieces of information regarding portions of elven history and the Evanuris, and she has her newfound.. atheism? secularism? (the main change is that she no longer believes in the Evanuris as gods the way she did before) and has disdain for aspects of the upper echelons of ancient elven culture (ex. the keeping of slaves by an elite upper class), but she is still proud to be Dalish. she feels there is plenty of value and worth in modern Dalish culture and (still practises and takes part in) their traditions, and in what they have reclaimed and made their own. she will always be Dalish and culturally Dalish.

Sera3. How did your Inquisitor respond to the truth of Sera’s childhood (the cookie scene), if they received it? Did they empathize?

despite the differences and initial teething problems between Gryff and Sera, she received it. she did empathize and was angry at the notion of a human noble lying to a young elf and telling her that a baker hated her simply for being an elf. go figure. but she was initially a bit ? about what the hell they were doing on the roof with cookies, and doesn’t have a great interpersonal manner. Sera clarified that she was trying to say she liked it in the Inquisition, and share this with the Inquisitor. kinda ‘thats great and I’m glad, but this is a bit ?. I know! why are we yelling? because we’re friends now. oh okay. let’s go get drunk. :)’ by Trespasser they are good friends.

Cole2. What did your Inquisitor think of Cole’s ability to see into people’s thoughts?

she thought it was unnatural, but quickly realized the strategic value of and advantages to be gained from the ability and indeed, of Cole’s other abilities, both on and off the battlefield. later, she would come to love Cole as if he were a member of her clan.

Iron Bull1. Was your Inquisitor wary of Bull upon learning he was a spy?

yes, and she was wary anyway. it didn’t unsettle her though, and she understood where he was coming from and why - flip the script, and from a certain angle she was a bit of a spy for her own people for their own ends, among other races and cultures, at the Conclave. their early interactions were engaged on a level akin to two soldiers from opposing factions during a time when a temporary truce or ceasefire had been declared. I think they both recognized that. professionals.

Vivienne3. Did the feelings of your Inquisitor towards Vivienne change at all after completing her personal mission about Duke Bastian, if yes, in what way?5. How did your Inquisitor feel about Vivienne? Friends? Allies? Rivals?

3. Gryff got her the heart she requested. Gryff didn’t really know what to say when Bastian died, or in the aftermath, but she felt for her. this sad and unfortunate event showed a side of Vivienne Gryff had understandably not been privy to before.

5. initially she did not really trust her, but Gryff doesn’t trust many people at all early on. early on they had a bit of disagreement for example about the Dalish and mages, the Circle etc. but I think this was not great writing on the writers’ part regarding Vivienne here, as opposed to Vivienne herself. Vivienne is a formidable, compassionate, smart and wise woman of considerable ability and power. Gryff rejected the Game but appreciated Vivienne’s insights and political acumen, for often Vivienne saw what Gryff could not. they were definitely allies, and perhaps something akin to friends by the end - I think Gryff developed great respect for Vivienne, in time. they have some different views on some topics, but this is not a bad thing at all.

Varric2. How did your Inquisitor feel about Varric’s situation with Bianca? Who did they decide was right about what Bianca did?

Varric and Gryff are friends but she doesn’t really have opinions on his personal life. Varric tracked the red lyrium source. gryff thought Bianca was in the wrong with what she did, but at the time just shouted at them both to knock off the arguing.

Dorian1. How does your Inquisitor feel about Tevinter? Did Dorian change their feelings at all about the Imperium?5. Did your Inquisitor agree with Dorian’s decision to return to Tevinter? How did they feel about his choice?

1. dislikes Tevinter. dislikes what it did to Arlathan, dislikes it for its continued slavery and subjugation of elves. Dorian showed her that some Tevinter mages (later, Magisters, even) are different (they became good friends), and it is now of course known that the fall of Arlathan was more complicated than Dalish lore suggested, but she still dislikes the Imperium. she hopes Dorian and his faction gut it and reform it and burn away all the rotting corruption. she wishes them every success.

5. [bit of repetition here sorry] she wholeheartedly agrees with the need to reform the Imperium and remove the corruption, and with his desire to do so. she thinks there’s nobody better suited to doing so. she hopes he will succeed, and would render any aid she’s capable of giving, wolfhunt and clan-protecting duties permitting. she hopes he’ll be safe, be careful and that he’ll find success. she will miss him a lot though. they keep in touch via the sending crystal.

Cassandra4. Did your Inquisitor agree with Cassandra’s vision for the Chantry? Did they choose her as Divine?5. Does your Inquisitor know all of her middle names?

4. on balance Gryff doesn’t give a shit about the Chantry (dislikes it really) and didn’t really care about who the human grand clerics were favoring or not favoring to put on the sunburst throne, but is insightful and strategically-minded enough to realize that it was important to Cassandra, and, more importantly, that the belief structures of whoever ascended would most likely have far-ranging impacts on Thedas. by that point in the storyline she had been using her power and position as Inquisitor to help the People (Dalish and City alike) whenever, however and whereever possible. she supported Leliana for Divine because she agreed with the need for radical reform (specifically, Leliana’s ideas that all races are equal and that the Chantry’s tenets should reflect that). she had no desire to see elves be Andrastian and join the Chantry per se (if they didn’t really want to be that is - in the cases where ones do that’s totally fine), but Leliana’s ideas for how the Chantry should be were doubtless going to improve the lot of elves in southern Thedas in general. she also disagrees with Circles and Templars, and didnt want to lose her friend Cassandra to the Chantry throne, l0l.

5. yes. (♥ω♥ ) ~♪ there is a great affection between the two women, and they’ll always be friends. in turn, Cassandra knows the fabled deeds of the Emerald Knight Brocair, from whom Gryff’s name preserves her descent. its a love story for the ages tbh.

currently contemplating the age-old question of, why does anyone keep around emotionally abusive people in their social circles/friends & followers lists/lives? even if not in an active way, and they’re aware of their history regarding treatment of friends/acquaintances/roommates, so multiple people. just cos they haven’t been abusive to you is no reason to provide them with invisible support, basically. i just don’t get it. i guess not everyone has the vocabulary/values of being discerning and being ‘friendly’ with absolutely everyone. even college-educated socially liberal (in the least, this social circle i allude to ain’t exactly super politically active, and are socioeconomically advantaged at that) young adults. they’re primarily motivated by self-interest too probably. should stray clear

but does anyone  have any insight into this? like dynamics of abusers in social circles, even scenes? like resources or even your own ideas tbh. it’s fascinating and also terrible esp when u sorta experience it
