Musicart Profiles (03)
Approaching the game's release in Spring 2023, Takt op's official twitter account has periodically releasing the profiles or biodata for the currently released / playable Musicarts. I'm posting this as part 3, and you can look for part 1 and part 2 of this post here too !

— important notes :
First person basis is a term on how to address yourself in first person, widely known in Japanese language has so many words to address yourself in first person such as Erlkönig's yo (a first person pronoun who were used by rulers) and Fantaisie's gensou-chan (a form of name-based first person basis) I have an explanation on each first person basis used here on a twitter thread !
the Musicarts' ages are still a grey area since they're human-like being but not a human at the same time. I speculated that it was the age when they were first awakened as a Musicart, or the age when their human host loses their conciousness and memory before awakened as a Musicart— similar to Anna's awakening as Destiny. (this is a subject to change)
I also had a compiled twitter thread of this too so go HERE for the thread!

See, I keep thinking about it. More specifically that it is consistently his right hand that he's holding, so it probably hurts more.
Because Fantaisie-Impromptu is notoriously difficult, as is most of Chopin's works, but it's also notoriously difficult even for Chopin. It is not an easy piece to play, and is above Grade 8 in Trinity irrc. But I've also heard more than sever pianists refer to it as "right hand work-out" specifically. I'm not saying left hand is easy, but compared to the right hand? Yeah, those runs are messed up. You will have carpal tunnel by the end of it.
There is, I think, a very solid possibility that Touya just couldn't play it at that age - physically. I doubt his hand span would allow it, and if it did, it would both hurt as hell to have a go after go while stretching your fingers that far and night impossibly to have good tone, which Harumichi also demanded.
Minimum required age for Trinity Grade 8 is 16 years. While there's nothing stopping Harumichi from demanding Touya to learn Chopin earlier, this is kind of a shitty thing to do - the minimum age is there for a reason, it's to account for children's physical development as well.
Fantaisie-Impromptu is a piece many musicians just give up on learning. Making a child do that is... Dubious at best, and while that might not be inherently abusive on its own, combined with the other shit Harumichi pull through, I'm just straight up calling it child abuse. It doesn't matter if Touya wanted to play it or not for this particular argument. It's just not right.
For the longest time, I was kind of wondering, why Fantaisie-Impromptu? There are a lot of other messed up piano pieces as well, with much more history behind them. The thing is, we don't actually know much about that particular work; Chopin probably wasn't proud of it, and it was actually only published after his death - quite possibly against his wish... He never really spoke anything about it, so we don't even know the inspiration or his own opinion on it. Why do that when they could've picked something with much clearer history to tie into Touya's story?
But after The First Concerto, it kind of clicked. Not being proud of it. Something you desperately want to keep hidden, stashed away and forgotten. Running away. Yet still, it comes back to haunt you. Makes sense, doesn't it?

…huh. I see now.

wait if Fantaisie Impromptu (the piece) was published despite the fact that Chopin probably wouldn't've wanted it to be published mean Fantaisie Impromptu (the girl) is like... the equivalent of an unplanned child? if we're going of the "composers = dads" thing

According to Toya's untrained Feelings That Were Buried 4* card and his chapter of BREAK DOWN THE WALL, Fantaisie Impromptu by Chopin was one of the piano pieces he had to practise most as a child.
Toya actually includes a section of the piece in the song Unstoppable, which he produced for Vivid BAD SQUAD and performs in OVER RAD SQUAD!!.

Made this list while I was in the mood
Classical music pieces that I associate with twst characters
Tumblr media
* these pieces are available to listen to on youtube. Perhaps I will make a video with them one day. But I doubt it. * I apologize for any mistakes, it was a lot of information to digest * updated because I forgot to add Presto for Malleus, sorry!
Malleus - Vivaldi - The Four Seasons - "Summer" - 1 Allegro Non Molto and 3 Presto (I mean of course these ones. Add evil overblot laugh here too.) ok also Schubert - Erlkönig (The Elf King), D. 328
Sebek - Prokofiev - Romeo and Juliet, Suite No. 2, The Montagues and Capulets "Dance of the Knights" (it's just him. period.) or Rachmaninov - Musical Moment No.4 in E minor or Rachmaninov - Prelude in C Sharp Minor (Rachmaninov for Sebek in general lol)
Silver - Grieg - Peer Gynt, Suite no. 1 "Morning mood" or Debussy - Clair de lune (from "Suite bergamasque") (Yes, basic, but it fits so so much so)
Lilia - Chopin - Fantaisie impromptu in C-Sharp minor, Op. 66 (first notes - Lilia's evil grin, then whimsical nature and the whirl of memories of countries he has been to. When it goes hard, it's cooking, some violence, and then when it gets gentle, it's when he remembers Silver's childhood. Then he softens in general but also reminds us about his playful nature and strong character.)
Idia - Vivaldi - The Four Seasons - "Winter" - 1 Allegro Non Molto (resembles how Idia speaks when he's getting confident and how his character, in general, opens up. And kinda gives me his genius vibes)
Ortho - Graun - Gigue in B-Flat minor (sounds like super-fast calculation is going on. But also, some notes sound like random signals and/or signs of creativity/sudden thoughts in AI) also Chopin - Etude Op. 10 No. 5 (Black Keys)
*Erik Satie for Octa in general. Gives me mysterious underwater vibes*
Azul - Satie - Gnossienne No. 1 and Gymnopedie no.1 also kinda Chopin - Nocturne Op. 9 No. 1 (pondering, deep in thought, underwater, calculating, but also melancholic…)
Jade - Satie - Gnossienne No.3 (such big Jade vibes)
Floyd - Liszt - Mephisto Waltz No. 1 (hehe)
Leona - Haydn - Symphony No. 49 in F minor ' La Passione ' (it's long, but it's worth listening. I just imagine Leona's character and lore in general here)
Jack - Händel - Suite no. 11 in D minor. Sarabande (not really sure about this one. But it gives me 'strength and determination and values' vibes today)
Ruggie - Mozart - Symphony No. 40 in G minor, IV. Allegro assai (reminds me how he can adapt and be different if needed. Also, it sounds quite boisterous, like Ruggie is going fast, fast, fast and earning a lot, lot, lot!)
Kalim - Mozart - The Marriage of Figaro, K. 492: Overture (specifically wanting to throwa feast)
Jamil - Chopin - Waltz in E minor, Op. Posth. (he's so skillful and makes it look like he's not even trying, but he's super hardworking. Also, some parts sound like his occasional emotional outbursts) also - Chopin - Prelude in E Minor (I can't explain it, but it's just Jamil for me. I feel so sorry for him - he's such a cool and talented (and handsome) guy, and such destiny mgd. Or maybe I'm just in a melancholic mood today)
Vil - Vivaldi - The Four Seasons - “Spring” - 1 Allegro (won't be original meh. like there're so many classical pieces that fit Vil but I don't really wanna bother here so)
Rook - Mozart - Le Nozze di Figaro: "Non più andrai, farfallone amoroso" (instrumental) (ookay it was hard with Rook because I think a lot fits him but I'll stop with this one or I'll never finish this list)
Epel - Litvinovsky - Pelléas and Mélisande: III. Galliard. Navire dans la tempête (Galliard. Ship in a storm) (unrelated but my life is divided into before seeing Epel in Book 7 dreams and after)
Riddle - Beethoven - Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67 I. Allegro con brio (duh. basic but c'mon. it suits him)
Ace - Litvinovsky - Suite for Strings "Le Grand Cahier": IV. Nos Etudes (yes that's how I feel Ace)
Deuce - Tchaikovsky - The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a: March of the Toy Soldiers (Deuce the honour student edition)
Cater - Beethoven : Sonatina in F Major plus "a glimpse of a depressed real Cater" one - Chopin - Mazurka in A minor, Op.17, No.4
Trey - Beethoven - Sonata No. 8 in C Minor Pathetique, Op. 13 (Adagio cantabile) (I tried to find someting "normal" meh so went with this today)
Special mentions
Rollo - Mozart - Requiem, 3 Dies Irae Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, BWV 565 Orff - Carmina Burana: Fortuna imperatrix mundi. O fortuna (super super obvious but c'mon it's basically canon)
Baul - Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries (ya Baul has big Wagner vibes for me)
Grim - Edvard Grieg – In the Hall of the Mountain King (the escalation lol)

Chapter 4, “Fantaisie-Impromptu,” is up! In which Fell has his most awkward and stressful afternoon in recent memory. 😆
Find Every Sky (rated T) is the festive holiday turducken of human AUs, a mishmash of the characters from my fics Every Damn Day, Find the Light, and Sky Clear Blue! You should definitely read all three of those before diving in here. (All three source fics are rated E)

What's your favourite song Dandy?
“Well, I like Clair de lune obviously, but my favorite might be Fantaisie Impromptu, Op.66, at least right now.”

The Music Rooms. Sometime in the first week. [ OPEN STARTER ]
The ten most difficult songs to play on a piano. Hungarian Rhapsody N. 2, Liszt. Flight of the Bumblebee, Korsakov. Fantaisie Impromptu, Chopin. Piano Concerto N. 5, Beethoven. Moonlight Sonata (3rd Movement), Beethoven. Revolutionary Etude, Chopin. Etude Op. 25 No. 11 - Winter Wind, Chopin. Piano Concerto No. 21, Mozart. Grande Polonaise Brillante Opus 22, Chopin. "Heroic" Polonaise Opus 53, Chopin. Ambrose went over the songs once, twice, upwards of ten times. Over and over again. Hammering out the difficult details of each one until his head started pounding, and his fingers felt like they were going to fall off. But he had to make a good first impression on his instructors. He had to be the best in his classes. He didn't just think that because he was a perfectionist either. He had to be the best because if he didn't prove he could do this - music - while simultaneously making a career out of doing music he'd be nothing but a joke.
He was too deep in his head that his fingers tripped over the wrong keys, and the palms of his hands followed, flattening into a loud angry dissonant sound. He huffed a deep breath lifting his head and noticing someone else must have come into the room sometime in the past thirty minutes. He really did find it unsurprising that he'd really missed a whole person. "Sorry," Ambrose said. I promise I can do better. "Have you been in here long?"

LOL OKAY SO WE ARE SAME BRAIN, classical piano degree here and worked in orchestra admin for way too long. My god the things I could say about ultrawealthy donors and their approach to music (with great effort I will restrain this rant) but YES like I don't think Kaiba would go full nut hyperfocus on the history/structure etc of music, partly because music history and theory are frustrating and silly in a very specific way that I don't think he'd enjoy. Although I do think he probably knows juuuuust enough to flex on other dilettantes when he feels the need. For example being miserable in a bowtie at a donors event and craving something to make his soul feel alive.
YES YES TO YUJA WANG LMAO Kaiba would love her and resonate with her 'fuck you I'm Yuja Wang' vibe. I think he'd also probably really enjoy Trifonov (has possibly secretly watched Trifonov's entire 'Rachmaninoff ON TRAINS' video series multiple times) and Bronfman (for the piano destroying brontosaurus energy) P.S. possibly a controversial opinion but I think he'd love the Fantaisie Impromptu and just skip the middle bits to get to the freaky parts at the end. I think a couple of the Nocturnes would get him too. Maybe Raindrops Prelude IF we're in a spooky parallel universe where he saw the Halo 3 commercials
Kaiba, bored out of his mind at the donor's club, wants to go home and work on adjusting textural rendering of blue-eyes white dragon claws for solidvision: I find the cello to be a tremendously Nietzschean instrument
Mr. Henry Wadsbergson of the New York Wadsbergsons: whatever do you mean?
Kaiba: tch. isn't it obvious?
Mr. Henry Wadsbergson of the New York Wadsbergsons: [static]
Kaiba would love the weird freak shit. He heard Rite of Spring and said actually this fucking slaps I don't know why they rioted. He heard John Cage's 4'33" and he said maybe you don't but I get it. Kaiba is to corporate life what Yuja Wang is to classical music: untouchable rockstar showstopper.
