okay you said you had a pokémon fanregion in your head, and now i gotta hear all about that, is the thing
OH god actually it's really funny how much shit that was in it has come to pass in canon by now, because I originally conceptualized it circa gen 4. It's usually what I think about if I think of like pokemon fancharacters or whatever. here we fuckin go
It was based on the Holon region in the TCG which has pokemon with funny types. we have Tera types now... the idea was that it would be begin further expanding and adding its own League and whatnot. I put it as above Johto/Kanto so relatively gen 1&2 selection of mons. keeping it simple.
it was more about the Weird Type Shit, which the pokemon prof of the region was studying under an organization she was a part of (the evil team, which was not branded as "Team (x)" just like Aether Foundation lmao). anomalies to track down and whatnot. but they were also inducing it themselves and studying other detected anomalies in the region. or sometimes the experiments they did created new, unintended anomalies of their own
this was mostly to make Missingno canon. which is like the only thing that hasn't still come to pass yet (BUT IT SHOULD!!!!!!). my dearest darlingest Missingno, the entire reason I love glitches today, was effectively my box legendary. the backstory of the prof was much like Lusamine in that she saw this Fucking Weird Pokemon a long time ago due to her Experiments and it fucked her up and she became a weird bad anime mom afterward. SHE EVEN HAD A DEAD HUSBAND!!!!!!! I FUCKIN INVENTED LUSAMINE FIRST
oh I should mention the "protag" analogue of the region WAS the professor's child. SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you had to fight your mom. who is the prof. who is also the evil team leader. and corrupted by some messed up videogame code. damn that sucks
later when we started getting more AI-feeling Rotom characters, I imagined a Rotom in a more robot/android body as one of the team underlings. he was the protag's buddy back home but now he has to fight you :( sorry i dont wanna do this but my programming is telling me to (throws a pokeball out halfheartedly)
(ASIDE: I remember in the first movie when they were like flabbergasted at Mewtwo technically qualifying as a pokemon trainer. that was kinda fucked up and weird, can we go back to that? tbh when I think about it, a lot of the vibe of my fanregion is based on how Weird early pokemon gens felt. they really dont make it like this anymore. Ape Inc became Creatures, I'm certain some EarthBound talent factored in)
I think I was also imagining weird-typed versions of the legendary birds for a trio, which is funny cuz we got Galarian versions of them now too....
Hooke was originally a Pokemon OC and was my first one actually, he ran a Dark-type gym because one didn't exist in canon yet. he was ex-Team Rocket and moved up north to turn a new leaf. thought it fit Dark's vibe as like the Schemer Type. I had to wait amazingly long for an actual Dark-type gym in canon which is kinda funny. it actually felt a little sad when we finally got one because it had been 11 years since I had made Hooke in protest of this
if you remember my OC Serafine (she doesnt have a TH SORRY), she was also an evil team exec.
she doesn't have a modern analogue but another one of the fancharacters was the rival-type one and she was Lt. Surge's spoiled neice
the Ghost-type gym leader I can describe as a Super Nerd with the constitution of the Hiker. can see ghosts but is a social outcast but more in a nerd sense than a goth sense. I liked him a lot but I haven't had anywhere to put him :(
the Psychic-type leader was extremely tsundere and her mind reading helped her out with all those tsundere insecurities (now she's just paranoid and preemptively reads people's minds)
the Fire- and Steel-type leaders were a duo battle of "smoke and mirrors" themed magicians. and also married
this is largely stream of consciousness I hope this post makes SENSE

Hello naughty children it’s OC time! This time, may I present Esmer de Sola, the protagonist of my Pokémon Violet playthrough!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is a big transmasc dork who ends up befriending Grusha because I Have A Favorite Character and also bc I think it’s cute. He’s originally from Helles, my greece-based fanregion, and actually ends up becoming an ice/flying gym trainer there post-SV!
Transcriptions of the dialogue on images 4-9below the cut!
[Image 4 dialogue:
Grusha: You did pretty good on the slopes. (Thinking: Another gym contestant… well, better get this over with.)
Esmer (off-screen): Oh, thank! It was fun!!
Grusha (thinking): Wait.
Grusha: Did you do the run… dressed like that? Isn’t that the summer uniform?
Esmer: Yeah?
Grusha: … Wait there a moment, I’ll be back. There’s gotta be a coat or something upstairs, dios mio…]
[Image 5 dialogue:
Esmer: PFAH! Wow, I really was cold!
Grusha: You didn’t notice?
Esmer: I’m bad at temperatures. Uncle always had to make me put on stuff at the rink too.
Grusha: The rink?
Esmer: Yeah! My Uncle Cefi— well, technically he’s like a great-uncle or something— he’s a figure skater back in Helles! He taught me loads of stuff!
Grusha: Huh, figure skating… that’s neat. ]
[Image 6 dialogue:
Esmer: See! That’s me! From last year.
Grusha: …
Grusha: So the shorts are just a you thing, then?
Esmer: If you can find a pair of jeans flexible enough for that, go right ahead.]
[Image 7 dialogue:
Esmer: And then— then his eyes glowed just like the crystals, and his voice went all glitchy, and— and— I seriously thought Arven was gonna cry, it was awful.
Grusha: That sounds pretty freaky.
Esmer: It was!]
[Image 8 dialogue:
Grusha: There, I’m off the mountain, what now? Nice place.
Esmer (off-panel): … I promise this was not my intent, but I think now you need to take off your coat. And the gloves, holy shit.
Note in the corner reads: (it’s like 79-80 degrees [fahrenheit] at Esmer’s house)]
[Image 9 dialogue:
Grusha: Ah, what’s under is thermal…
Esmer: I told you I live South! Why would you wear those?
Grusha: I don’t really own much else…
Esmer: Just let me lend you something, jeez! I feel hot just looking at you!
(after a visible change of clothes)
Grusha: No shorts?
Esmer, conspicuously still wearing shorts himself: I do own other clothes, you know.]

18, 19
18. What do people from this region think of themselves?
the people of the udilven region tend to think of themselves as hardy, stalwart people who Get Shit Done in a way that a lot of places don't. while the battle culture isn't the main focus in the region, they are very, very proud of their battles and have a tendency to fight just as much as the kantonian trainers that sometimes visit the region.
they are also a people who lean heavily into old traditions regarding legendaries and their effects on the world, so you can ask many people, especially on the edges of the region, and learn a lot from the locals.
19. Are there non-battling competitions? (ie contests, pokeathlons)
they have contest halls very similar to the ones in hoenn! additionally, there are local festivals that involve feats of strength and training that aren't battling, like bale tossing or heavy lifting using big, strong pokemon that the local farmhands raised.
fanregion questions.

3. whose writing has impacted your writing style the most? (you can choose anyone! famous writer or not.)
4. which muse of yours is your all time favorite? if you stopped writing them: why?
12. what roleplay trends do you remember from the year you started tumblr rp? how did you feel about those trends?
#3: Oh shit that's a tough one. Something I haven't really thought. about. I never tried to take after anyone's writing style, I've always just done my own thing. Maybe I would be an even better writer if I thought about someone to model my writing after, but given I only have like 1-2 hours of free time a day, I barely have time to read.
I will say this though. I learned more about writing from talking to people and interacting in the RPC than I EVER did from the classes I took for my fancy ass Ivy League creative writing degree. I do not consider myself having learned how to write until age 26, two years after I graduated that program, and I feel like I owe that more to actually practicing on my own & with others than any workshop or creative writing method class I ever did. I only remember one (1) single solitary thing that I learned for that degree, but the advice people have given me and the lessons I learned here will always stick with me. I love all you guys so much <3
#4: This is a subjective question because my favorite muse of all time rotates based on which blorbo I am hyperfixating on at the moment, and is also directly correlated with the muse who I think is the sexiest of all time. But if I had to pick one character to be my Most Blorbo Of All Time, it would have to be my fanregion champion OC, Tobias Mendelssohn. I've been on such a journey with him--originally the way I wrote him before he became a fanregion Champion, I now find weird and actually quite distasteful. But I feel like as I practiced more and researched more about Judaism (which was his religion at the time) my portrayal of him really got better, to the point that not only do my Jewish friends all love him to death, researching for portraying him and finding joy in how he expresses his Judaism was also what inspired me to convert. I anticipate I will have many more blorbos in the years to come, but will any of them be so impactful to me that they convince me to have a new religion? Doubtful.
#12: Also asked by @a-hell-of-a-lot-of-muses!
Oh man I don't remember any except Magic Anons. I'm sad they seem to be frowned upon now, they were a lot of fun to play with and send. I distinctly remember one that turned my Lotor VLD muse into a burger. Good times.

anyway nosadis is a cold region due to interference from the lumen institute, in reality it should be an exceptionally tropical region. the three sub regions (parium, infenis and purdiso) are all effect by the lumen institute's shit differently with parium and infenis at the northen point of nosadis being uninhabitable during the winter months without proper preperation and purdiso barely getting any snow during December

Professor Debbie Mangrove, Regional Professor of Hellano!
The player character's best friend since they were little, this young professor specializes in Types and the relationships they have with Pokemon and each other! She's always followed by her lab partner, Vigant, and appears on your journey doing field research from time to time.
Even with her dad, Entomo, as the current Champion of the region, she supports your journey and kinda hopes you can take her dad down a notch. Battles with her are purely for fun and research purposes, and since she's already found what she wants to do with her life, she tries not to get in the way or butt heads like a rival would.

i’m over here desperately trying to juggle both my very different flavours of equally rabid brainrot and the bug one is currently losing to the pokemon one.
a massive, years-long project is finally getting moving again because i managed to get moving it was me holding it up kbdfhb and i have so many IDEAS for my ongoing fic series and i just,,,, i,, i JuST --
basically, i love bug. i will always love bug. however, bug will resume when i’m allowed my brain back. i have no idea when that’ll be.

theres this concept I’ve always wanted to flesh out of a pokevillain oc who IS a pokemon .. like one who’s really embittered with humanity and sees pokemon as more powerful and superior to humans , & their goal is to reverse the roles of pokemon & people and basically enslave humanity as revenge . it’s so metal of an idea 2 me and the idea won’t let me go

Man I feel like I’m on the slippery slope 😩 first I was “ok I’m coming back to Tumblr but only on this blog and NEVER in the pokémon fandom” then it was “ok I’m coming back to Tumblr but only on Tobias, my main Lotor, and maybe my interpretation of Pidge” then it was “okay maybe I can come back to Pokémon RP on Tumblr but only to participate in my bestie’s fanregion and I’m not going to follow any new people plus I won’t be back on my fanregion” and I really hope it’s not going to become “all right  fuck it what the hell I can come back to Pokémon with the entirety of my muses”……
Guess this slippery slope shit isn’t just a fallacy.

“Tian, what would you do if someone made a fanregion that was more OP than yours?”
Glad you asked, random hypothetical question asker. This is something I’ve been thinking about lately, and I guess my answer is: It depends.
I can think of one situation in which I would most certainly NOT be amused, and it’s if that fanregion’s strength is cheap. Because like. I put MOUNTAINS of thought and effort into why my fanregion is the way it is. For one thing, I had LIMITS. Like. The average BST in Unima is 600 - 650. I wouldn’t go any higher than that because I thought it would be ridiculous. I try to give every Pokémon a weakness, a way to beat it. Like. Uniman Skitty? They fucking melt if you poison them too strongly. And Benthic Milotic? Their exponential healing gets shut down by an Ability like Eviscerate or a move like Heal Block. Uniman Liepard? Its Ability is pure Evasion hax, but it’s also a very frail Fairy--hit it with Smart Strike and it’s likely going down in one hit, and even if you aren’t packing Smart Strike, you’re more or less guaranteed an OHKO or 2HKO. And some of the tools I use for myself--increasing base stats, Ascendance and Transcendence Levels, the Godkiller ability etc.--are accessible by everybody and I’ll allow anyone to use them against my own characters too. There is balance in all things even when they are powerful and I am not going to cater to someone who ignores this balance, either IC or OOC.
I also actually made it make sense for the Pokémon there to be that strong. I gave Unima a long and tragic history with blood sport and militarism, and fully followed through on the implications of that. I also associated it with a Legendary that’s as strong as Eternatus, and came up with a backstory about the relationship between Eternatus and Eternalux that also constantly bears out in my outlook on the region. I also wrote an entire longass headcanon on how Unima’s Pokémon started out weaker and grew stronger over time AS THEY FUCKING SHOULD! I put blood, sweat and tears into writing a beautiful story with meaning and resonance with all of these OP parts, and I REFUSE to be outdone by some rando who made their fanregion stronger than mine “just because.” If someone came along tomorrow and was like “uwu in my fanregion the average BST for every Pokémon is 700 uwu and also my protag beat a Legendary that was stronger than Eternatus uwu and I never even thought about how to make this all cohesive I’m just doing it because it’s cool uwu”……I’d be PISSED.
So basically, what I’m saying is, if someone wants to one-up me, they’d better EARN that shit the way I did or the only thing they’ll earn is a block to their fanregion blog. But what if someone actually does earn that shit? What if someone somehow manages to create something way more powerful than what I have, and upon looking at it, it actually seems fair? Well…I wouldn’t be lying if I didn’t say I’d be conflicted.
First off. I feel like I’ve gone to the absolute limit of how overpowered you could possibly make a region. Beyond even the fangames that provide an upgraded experience of what you normally have in a Pokémon game. I don’t mind at all if someone equals my region’s strength; it’s just very hard for me to see a way that someone could surpass it and it would still be fair. But let’s suppose that someone actually does…I’m not proud to say that the first thing I’d feel is jealous. Jealous that someone basically managed to out-write and out-think me, because I have an ego about my work and I always hate feeling like second best. My first impulse would probably be to think of ways to try and improve my region’s strength, but then I’d also feel conflicted about that because it’s like……Wow Tian can’t you just learn to take a backseat to someone--instead of rewriting your own already amazing project just so you can be “the best” again? And besides, if I choose to be overcompetitive and play that game…How powerful is too powerful? I already feel like I’ve crossed a line in some peoples’ eyes, so to come up with even more bullshit just to be better than someone else in pretend Pokémon fights would in all likelihood completely destroy what I’ve worked so hard to build. Ideally, I think I’d just have to learn to accept that I’ve been bested and to still be secure in the knowledge that I’ve produced an incredible piece of writing regardless of whether someone’s characters are stronger than mine or not. So yeah, those are my thoughts on if someone makes a stronger fanregion.

it’s honestly a true and documentable fact that, with the exception of renate and ezra, every single muse i’ve played that i’ve ever been invested in had something assholish about them. here is the list:
wallace: let’s start with him. he has a history of being bitchy and getting into a lot of drama, and though i retconned some of my previous portrayal of him (i think i made him way too mean whoops) he still has a general reputation of getting into messes that he really shouldn’t.
ursula: where do i even begin? spoiled, selfish, bratty, cruel……and yet, even throwing so many of those adjectives at her all at once feels like a gross understatement of how well she personifies each of them.
zoey: she SAYS she’s a good girl and she hates basically every other asshole on this list, but if you really dig deep into her personality, she’s got more in common with them than she thinks. she has a tendency to be self-righteous and stubborn, and when she thinks she’s right about something, she can act just as full of herself as ursula.
lotor: once again, where do i even begin? he’s racist to humans. he’s a lying piece of shit. he has his head so far up his ass that it came right back out between his shoulders again. he’s had 10,000 years to change and somehow he’s still not much better than he used to be, and it’s doubtful he’ll become 100% better within the voltron paladins’ lifetimes too. why the fuck did i redeem this guy?
tobias: technically he’s a much better version of lotor, but in other ways he’s more frustrating because he’s not that far gone. it’s plain for everyone to see what a nice and well-adjusted young man he’d be if he only listened to the advice of basically everyone around him and got some help……but he doesn’t. god.
anakin: not rping him on tumblr anymore because WHOOOF the star wars fandom is messy, but……he becomes darth vader. do i even need to explain?
my other fanregion muses: seriously, there’s something edgy about almost all of them. ngozi was a former rocket assassin who was brainwashed from birth and like, just figured out what morals are. friedrike was one of the most powerful cosmic beings in history and her claim to fame is killing literal thousands of deities in her attempt to end and remake the world. flosshilde is a millions-of-years-old fae who literally kidnaps people for her gym challenge. welcome to my fanregion, where everyone is an edgelord and just a few years ago everything was trying to kill you. renate rubin, wula feiyun, viktoria skyherald and peter wegner are like, the only nice ones there. save them.

If I ever make a fanregion, my fantasy loving self might take what I’ve built here on Val’s blog and end up doing some LoZ shit where fae races and humans live in a land hidden somewhere in the world. Despite living in the same region, there is some tension among themselves, and all sides live somewhat disconnected from each other.
Due to a combination of magic and technology, they have a more advanced civilization overall compared to the rest of the regions. Pokemon trainers & battling aren’t too common either; pokemon are more so companions or just live in the wild.
For those reasons, and possibly due to mistrust of outsiders as well, their region as a whole lies low and is cut off from the rest of the world. From how they hear through international news about the villainous teams (Rocket, Aqua/Magma, Galactic, etc) starting chaos in their respective regions too, they especially aren’t all that interested in branching out.
...Well, of course there may be some individuals who are, and potentially for the wrong reasons...which provides a great opening for the region’s own villainous team to form. 🤔

💀 but for ghetsis ( @aeshmedai ) bc im Too lazy to swap blogs - @moraldyad
Would Your Muse Survive My Fanregion From Hell? (Not accepting!)
hOOOOOOOOooooooo hold onto your seat, this is gonna be spicy as fuck.
ghetsis is one of like maybe a handful of people i can immediately think of who i would be more than 50% confident would be able to complete a prussian run. he is also one of maybe two people i can immediately think of who i am more than 50% confident could be the protag of preuzien if lotor wasn’t already. so i will be mainly thinking about how his prussian run would go if he is the protag.
given our conversations i’m picturing him coming in with nobody knowing he’s ghetsis but people figuring it out pretty quickly. wilhelmine isn’t the brightest bulb in the box when it comes to policy decisions and sometimes strategy, but she is surrounded by 18+ gym leaders and other league members, some of whom would be able to figure out what was up with this stranger who was just so weirdly strong. after that, they’d be taking him a LOT more seriously and some of them would most likely manage to force him to use more than one of his pokémon. that said, ghetsis would still have an easier time than other muses because when i wrote that big post about what muses would experience going through preuzien, i was writing with the majority of muses in mind and the majority of muses did not have prior military experience while ghetsis did. he could definitely make it past all 36 gym challenges, through the prussian national tournament and past the elites. once he challenges wilhelmine, he has by far the best shot out of any muse i have in my inbox of killing her.
he’ll have a harder-won victory, however, if she enters ragnamax form during the battle. at the point when she’s trying to destroy the entire world and starting to look skyward to try and kill legendaries i don’t really see the oración being able to calm her, seeing as ragnamax zygarde is on a completely different level than regular zygarde and in fact most legendaries. in such a fight, ghetsis would have to use his full strength to try and bring her down. i can definitely see the entire arena getting absolutely bodied by these two gods duking it out…truly a battle for the ages that holy shit i would love to write.
there is only one thing that would truly hold ghetsis back, and it is his trauma. if he goes through the league feeling very not OK and dissociating half the time due to being in a warzone, prussian trainers are not above taking advantage of that. he doesn’t seem to have a lot of good coping mechanisms, so he will have to learn those…while i can see him overcoming it because from what i gather of his arc with kei’s rosa he does get better, the psychological impact will probably drive him to think “i won but at what cost.”
