Guys I have a question for you regarding the Class 1-A Yandere Purge PRT 2!
Sooooooo... funny story, it's actual at 22,000 wordsssss... and I keep writing it longer...
I'm a psychopath teehee.
But I have a question! Is 22K too intimidating for one part? Should I split it up in half and then post the third part a week or so later? Long enough to make sure the second part gets enough traction, then post the other part.
I just wanted to hear your guys' thoughts on the matter as you will be the readers of the fic. I know that sometimes when a fic is too long I lose interest after awhile. I just don't want to burn you guys out.
Splitting it up sounds like a good idea to me as you guys can get a chance to breathe, then we introduce more characters and perspectives. But if you guys would like to tuck in for a whole novel, I'm all ears LOL!
Thank you for the advice in advance!! Love you all.
With Love,
Kraken

Questions for fanfic authors
I was tagged by @xthelastknownsurvivorx
How many works do you have on AO3? 47 (holy shit!)
What's your total AO3 word count? 80,885
What fandoms do you write for? Mostly Stranger Things (harringrove), then a tiny bit of Red, White & Royal Blue (firstprince), a Spuffy one shot, and a Power Rangers 2017 one shot.
Do you respond to comments? I try to, yes. Then I find some I forgot to respond to and I feel really bad.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? not that I know of.
Have you ever co-written a fic before? yes, a long time ago. I was beta-ing a Spuffy fic for my bestie Kitty and I kinda wrote the 3rd (and last) chapter of that fic. I read it again a couple of years ago and OMG the head-hopping was bad and the smut was kinda cringe.
What's your all-time favourite ship? harringrove!!!! Even if I've been reading a ton of firstprince (and some tarlos, and also Lizzie/Darcy), my heart belongs to Billy and Steve.
What are your writing strengths? dialogue, banter, happy endings, fluff (just ask @shieldofiron.
What are your writing weaknesses? actions scenes, full on MM smut (still scares me a bit).
First fandom you wrote for? um, does NKOTB RPF when I was in my late teens count? Otherwise, Spuffy.
no pressure tags @ihni @onthewaytosomewhere @lalazeewrites @biillyhargroves @spaceofentropy @thissortofsorcery @shieldofiron @robthegoodfellow @fizzigigsimmer @adelacreations @forever-fixating @kiwiana-writes @anincompletelist @billyharringson @camaro-and-smokes

Hey fellow Obey Me writers & readers, I have a question for you about x reader stories.
When you read or write something that is using the second person “you” point of view, what do you imagine as the “you?”
Like writers do you have a sort of generic MC type character in mind or do you think of it as a specific MC or OC? Or just yourself?
And readers do you imagine yourself or an OC?
I get that the point is to be able to self insert but is that what people do?
I’m really curious because when I’m writing that way, the “you” is in my mind as a generic MC character that isn’t me but isn’t anyone specific either. I’m just wondering if that’s how it works for other people too.

starting my first multichap / longfic, best way to give updates?
I've been planning and outlining and daydreaming about this idea, so after a bunch of oneshots, I am sitting down and starting this multichap Dramione story.
I am wondering though, what would be a good way to keep motivated throughout, and maybe share some updates/vent/tease chapters in the process?
I know you write for yourself but I also enjoy the community aspect of fandom. I have cheered for writers before as they put out new chapters, and I know it would keep me writing too. In some Discord servers you can start your own forum like a notebook and give updates that way, but I haven't used that function before. Maybe I should just post on tumblr?
Chapters go straight to AO3, duh, this is just for behind the scene thoughts, ideas, authors notes, musings. Is there even a need for me to post about this, does anyone care?
If anyone has written a longfic, or if you've followed WIPs before, let a girl know pls cause I can feeeel myself overthink.

Hello, when are you going to update your TF2 fanfic on AO3? I was wondering if you could do a chapter where Sniper gets sick with the flu somehow and Medic has to take care of him while also taking care of Lucy. I think that's a really cute idea, if you want. I love your fanfic.
I am working in a halloween chapter right now but this could be a good idea for the next chapter, i just need a idea for the helmet party part 🤔
Also, if any of you want to see my fanfic on A03, here is a link to it 'The Mis-Adventures of Baby Caring' 😋

Thank you for the response
I hope things calm down for you soon and sorry I never comment I just don't know what kind of thing to say I'm relatively new to Tumblr and still learning but I do truly appreciate your work and get the loss in motivation to write ❤️
~anon from before
Hi! Thank you. I really do appreciate you for being interested in the series continuing. And no apologies needed - I know it can be hard to think of things to say and Tumblr can definitely be hard to navigate when you're just starting out. Even something as simple as responding to the chapter to say that you liked it goes a long way. I'm definitely happy to know that you're interested in reading more. As I said, it might be slow going for a bit, but I'll definitely keep writing it! 🥰

Mild FFVII Rebirth spoiler under the cut.
This is probably a dumb question, but I'd like some opinions if anyone's inclined to give one.
If you're writing a story that deviates from canon, do you still need to tag it as an AU if canon has a multiverse? I've got a plot bunny that I've actually been kicking around since even before Remake came out, and I think I'm finally ready to write something. It was always going to be an AU and, funnily enough, the multiverse was going to figure into it at one point.
It probably won't see the light of day on AO3 for a while though. It's going to have multiple chapters, and I used to be notorious for posting a few chapters then abandoning a fic. I don't want to post anything until it's done and written to my satisfaction, and that's if it gets posted at all.

Not on the ask meme, but I have a question. What ships are you not interested in writing?
ohhh this is a good question!! but i feel like my answer is going to be a cop out 😂 but i'm not interested in ships that don't interest me! i can be convinced of most ships, but if i don't buy them together then i'm not interested. and it's always a harder sell for characters i don't really care about. like i'll be honest i don't think i'll ever write a ship for kabuto. but who knows maybe now someone will convince me lol

B, H, and L for the Fanfic Ask Meme
B: Any of your stories based off personal experiences?
As far as I can remember, no. I’ve written a lot of stories over my life so it’s hard to keep track, but a majority of them are fanfics or fantasy that I base off my favorite shows or books. I have based a few things off of dreams if that counts as a personal experience.
H: How would you describe your style?
Descriptive writing. I try to paint the scene with my words so what I’m imagining is clear to those reading it. That my main focus when writing. I can always see my stories very vividly as I write them and I want everyone to be able to see them too. It’s easier with fanfics, since a lot of times I’m describing things the readers have actually seen before, but it’s harder with my original content. (Which you can read, for free, on my Patreon)
L: What’s the weirdest AU you’ve ever come up with?
Weirdest as in content, the Daedra of Kvatch, cuz that one gets weird. Like with the canonical mpreg, which I don’t even know where I got that idea from. But weird as in the AU itself, that would go to an AU I’ve never posted about before where the Nerevarine is the protagonist of all the main 3 games. I just loved my character so much that I had to make her in all 3 games.

Question for fanfiction authors
Do you do your best to perfectly emulate the way characters talk in the media you're fanfictioning? Or do you modify it for reasons while trying to stay true to the spirit of the characters?

🤣🤣🤣 Exactly like that skit! And afterwards, they have their first proper kiss and that leads to a debate on who's the better kisser. It's a vicious cycle.
Sorry that I hadn't answered this long before, I just didn't know how to respond to this though I do think it is a funny thought... but I'm starting to consider the more I think about it... tho not exactly but still somewhat a kiss game of some sort for a plot xd

Hypothetical scenario: someone is on Ao3, looking for fanfiction to read. This person only speaks/reads English, and they set the language filter to only show fics written in English.
We ask your questions so you don’t have to! Submit your questions to have them posted anonymously as polls.

this is just my opinion but i think any good media needs obsession behind it. it needs passion, the kind of passion that's no longer "gentle scented candle" and is now "oh shit the house caught on fire". it needs a creator that's biting the floorboards and gnawing the story off their skin. creators are supposed to be wild animals. they are supposed to want to tell a story with the ferocity of eating a good stone fruit while standing over the sink. the same protective, strange instinct as being 7 and making mud potions in pink teacups: you gotta get weird with it.
good media needs unhinged, googling-at-midnight kind of energy. it needs "what kind of seams are invented on this planet" energy and "im just gonna trust the audience to roll with me about this" energy. it needs one person (at least) screaming into the void with so much drive and energy that it forces the story to be real.
sometimes people are baffled when fanfic has some stunning jaw-dropping tattoo-it-on-you lines. and i'm like - well, i don't go here, but that makes sense to me. of fucking course people who have this amount of passion are going to create something good. they moved from a place of genuine love and enjoyment.
so yeah, duh! saturday cartoons have banger lines. random street art is sometimes the most precious heart-wrenching shit you've ever seen. someone singing on tiktok ends up creating your next favorite song. youtubers are giving us 5 hours of carefully researched content. all of this is the impossible equation to latestage capitalism. like, you can't force something to be good. AI cannot make it good. no amount of focus-group testing or market research. what makes a story worth listening to is that someone cares so much about telling it - through dance, art, music, whatever it takes - that they are just a little unhinged about it.
one time my friend told me he stayed up all night researching how many ways there are to peel an orange. he wrote me a poem that made me cry on public transportation. the love came through it like pith, you know? the words all came apart in my hands. it tasted like breakfast.
