the patterns from his genes already reflected miles' spider-suit patterns well, so his scry doesnt have a lot of apparel

the bewitching ruby pendants represents his spider logo

2. gwen stacy

gwen has runes tert, because there werent any suitable pink glove apparels (the peony ones dont match well)

i considered giving the scry banana noxtide as a secondary to mimic her hair's pink hairlights, but it didnt mesh well

3. pavitr prabhakar

i couldn't figure out how to represent pavitr's spider logo, so i just gave his scry a necklace in lieu of it

the "navy bandana" was way too big and the color didnt match, so i opted for the "sky blue fillet" to represent his headband

4. hobie brown

hobie's scry/outfit was surprisingly easy to come up with, and was the first one i did

he gets a lute because theres no guitar apparel

his patchwork secondary represents his collage art style

5. miguel o'hara

i chose banescale for miguel, as his spider-suit is so simple/streamlined that it wouldnt translate well to apparel + skeletal tert being spiky is reminiscent of his arm spikes

i thought about representing jessica's motorcycle with the "flameforger crucible" or "igneous iguana" apparels, but they were too bulky unfortunately

fissure secondary represents the spider web pattern on peter's spider-suit

i know his slippers are supposed to be blue, but the "mage's peony socks" looked better here

Our scries for our random fathoms (we got SO lucky with the girl, the boy was a bit harder to scry but I like his tropical colors)

And our anniversary hatch, who we just knew would make a great fathom. We wanted to do glowtail since it made her tail look like a big piece of kelp, but... we're already spending gems on the yellow one so we need to stop somewhere.

And also with this new breed, I'm changing my plans for my Flight Rising version of me. I guess this counts as a fandragon since I'm a fictive?

Absolute least favorite trope in the fic: inserting new world-building so that the controversial actions that Alder does in canon are all rationalized into woobie-bait. Examples: "Alder was forced into the Biddy bond!" "The Martyrdom was actually a lesser evil!" "Alder felt regret about signing the Accords!" "Alder was forced into doing things by men in power!" Since fucking when has the US military been meaningfully held accountable for anything, or their power (and the military industrial complex) had a reduction in growth? Name me one irl modern general that doesn't believe wholeheartedly in militarism. The nation can do much wrong by the rank and file (including appalling treatment of veterans), but the brass? Hah. And neither do the brass of the MFS military waver in their belief in militarism, either. We know that they could play malicious compliance via things like Tally's dispensation if they wanted to. They don't want to. The "magical enforcement" didn't stop Dodgers from existing, nor did it stop Nicte from deserting. The slow-play of the invasion of the Cession could have just as easily been done in their deployments in other nations, or in their hunting of Dodgers (like Scylla's parents). (Even Anacostia doesn't have a problem with torturing Scylla for information. "Gotta break a few eggs." No one agitates for the closure of GuantanamoSt. Dominique, either. There's no doubt in my mind that MFS's detention centers carry the same controversies as our world's.) No. Alder not only has no regrets about the Accords, she believes in them. She truly believes that all witches under her jurisdiction should serve, and that it is an honor to do so. She believes in the concept of glory in battle, and wishes for her soldiers to, as well. Alder's instinct is to hide inconvenient information from the chain of command and the public, which further proves that if she wanted to commit malicious compliance and covertly get around the wishes of those in power, she could, but she chose not to because she doesn't have a problem with the Accords or the wars she's been in. Most relevantly, Alder maintained the conflict of the Spree as an alternative to nationalist conflict. Letting the Spree propagate was her solution to Liberia. That is how she thinks, not even the smallest inkling that maybe she could modify the Accords and aim for our world's progressive strategy of pushing anti-discrimination policies and full civilian population integration/equality/equity. The idea of de-militarization is borderline anathema to her. She doesn't see conscription as slavery at all, but an honorable duty. Someone who says "I never needed The Hague's approval for my actions. I simply extend the invitation to accept my rulings." has a particular relationship to power. If the director of the CIA said this, we would not pretend that they are laboring under the yoke of anyone. Nah, that's just plain ol' mundane deep state. (Meanwhile, in 3x4 the scene with Alder and the Marshal shows that she definitely did not take on or continue using the Biddy working under duress. She's grateful for it, he's not morally indicted for using it, and they called the exchange "sharing." In fact, that might even imply that the Marshal could have been willing to share the Working without the deal, but Alder negotiated the creation of the Cession as thanks.) These characters are so much more interesting when they are allowed to do women's wrongs, for this show to explore how a world of alternative supremacy means that those alternative figures of power will still commit the same ethical pitfalls with it. Let them commit war crimes, as a treat! The relationships are so much more interesting when they have to grapple with real universal flaws instead of hand-waving them with "[other demographic]'s prejudice made me do it."

Nesta: *was willing to whore herself out for her family, advocated for the humans in the HL meeting, got allies, used herself as bait, shielded Cassian’s body with her own, scried during the war, helped the wounded, helped the women of the library battle their biggest fears, held the line for the Valkyries, saved Feyre, Rhysand, and Nyx, saved thousands by giving the mask to Bryce*

The IC - and this fandom - want to hate on Nesta for being "mean" or for "letting" Feyre hunt. People want to say that she's this selfish monster, but when you look at all her accomplishments throughout the series, it paints an entirely different picture. Nesta's traumatized, hurt, and depressed, yes, but she's also a fighter and she cares, deeply, about everyone.

I compiled a list of all Nesta's achievements throughout the books. (Let me know if I forgot anything!)

• Survived being physically and emotionally abused for years by her grandmamma and mother

• Stole a Duke out of spite because an heiress was cruel to Elain

• Begged family members to help them when they fell into poverty

• Chopped wood so her family could keep warm

• Resisted a High Lord's glamour

• Fought off Tomas

• Tried to rescue Feyre from Prythian

• Urged Feyre to go back to Tamlin, where she was loved and happy, which led Feyre to go UTM, which led to her freeing the Fae in Prythian

• Feyre wondered if Rhysand would even be able to use his Daemati tricks against Nesta's mind

• Agreed to let the IC meet with the human queens in her home, which would thus label her a Fae sympathizer, which could get her killed if found out

• Mailed correspondence between the human queens and the IC

• Urged the human queens to assist the humans beneath the wall

• Calculated how many ships would be needed to evacuate all the humans beneath the wall

• Urged the human queens to give their Book of Breathings to the IC

• Stole power from the Cauldron itself while it was boiling her alive and violating her

• Pushed aside her own trauma to watch over, and take care of, Elain after they were turned High Fae against their will

• Knew Feyre went into Lucien's mind

• Worked with Amren to try and repair the Wall

• Went to the High Lord's meetings to try and convince them to fight for the humans

• Went with the IC to each and every war camp to serve as a warning bell for when the Cauldron was being used

• Scried, and found, the Cauldron in the middle of Hybern's war camp

This isn’t really a shipwar question, but do you believe that the IC treated Nesta bad in Acosf or before Acosf?? It’s like everywhere I go on the internet, people are continuously making Nesta out to be innocent. I think a lot of people forget that Nesta was a bitch to every IC member (almost everyone) before Acosf. Even when the IC did nothing wrong to Nesta. I have never been a big fan of Rhys, but I feel like he was justified in how he treated Nesta in Acosf. Nesta has always loathed the IC way before Acosf, and it pisses me of when people in this fandom try to twist the narrative into the IC being terrible to Nesta first, when it was in fact the opposite.

Nesta was recklessly spending Rhys’ money in Acosf, but she was still being a bitch to him, his mate, and Elain. And Cassian too. Nesta was still treating them bad, but she wanted to benefit from Rhys, like spending all of his money. I am sort of tired of this “woe is me” narrative being spun about Nesta. People are going so far as to say that everybody except for the IC treated Nesta good. They even pointed out how Bryce and the valkyries easily befriended Nesta because Nesta was “never the problem”. The IC did make questionable decisions when it came to not telling Feyre about her deadly pregnancy, but they have always treated Nesta good, even when she was a bitch to them.

I truly have never understood the “Rhys is a villain” in Acosf narrative.

Nesta vs the IC is always a loaded question, and I don't think that there is a right or wrong answer, because everyone was both right and wrong.

Nesta doesn't have an easy personality, no doubt about that. Nesta is also 23-25 years old, vs the infinite wisdom of the High Lord and someone like Amren, who is like 15K years old and supposedly knows everything about everything.

The 'Nesta was spending Rhys's money' argument really doesn't fly with me. We are led to believe that Rhys is a (equivalent to) billionaire many times over. He has a whole floor dedicated to crowns, tiaras and necklaces heavy with diamonds. Nesta went to pubs -- even if she paid for everyone's drinks there, night after night, I doubt that it hardly dented even a bit of Rhys's wealth. Even if nesta spent a million a DAY, it would hardly put a dent in Rhys's wealth. Nesta spent $500. So the money argument is ridiculous. If Rhys and Feyre wanted to show how much they care and whatnot, maybe building a massive mansion 2 months after the war isn't the way to go about it. But whatever, it's their business.

However, Nesta and Elain were turned into Fae, kidnapped and tossed into a war, because of RHys and Feyre. Let's be honest about that too. Feyre brought Rhys and the batboys to her human sisters' mansion, she also told Ianthe all about them. And Nesta, despite her bad attitude, never denied the IC anything. She allowed them to use her, use her magic, whatever they needed, no matter what. She participated in the war, she scried, she volunteered to actually DIE if need be. The immense psychological trauma that she was dealing with after the war was also kind of dismissed. She literally sacrificed 1,000! Illyrians for Cassian. Imagine waking up every morning with the knowledge that you indirectly contributed to the death of 1,000 soldiers.

To me, the fact that these 500+ year old Fae couldn't handle a snappy comeback or an eye roll from a 23 year old human is kind of laughable.

However, do I think that Nesta needed help? Yeah, absolutely. And though the IC went about it as delicately as a bull in a chinashop, it needed to be done. Nesta needed to heal. And she needed to be loved, even if it was just by a House that became sentient.

Finally, I have 2 sisters. Our relationships sometimes become very tense. Sometimes very intense. We get mad at each other. We love each other. We say hurtful things. We help. And on and on it goes. Do I think it's Rhys's place to interfere in her relationship with Feyre? Berate her? Threaten her? Fuck no. If my BIL did that, we'd have some serious issues. Rhys needs to bud out and stop inserting himself where he isn't needed. And let's remember--Nesta made him very very very very very powerful. She can use a mask that can raise armies of the dead and she can make Made weapons that slay death gods. None of the Trove objects technically belong to Rhys, yet Nesta gave them to him.

As much as I like Rhys, I am with Nesta on this.

[edit: 1 feb 2024] i think my screen had the Flux settings too high before and i thought his shirt was beige. its actually white, so i changed his shirt from a shabby to classy dress shirt.

unfortunately none of the helm apparel had the right colors for his helmet, so i opted for tan okapi to represent his helm's horn colors

[edit: 1 feb 2024] changed primary from ribbon to chrysocolla, an earthy gene to match his past as a miner. changed tert color slightly to match better. also gave him carrots

initially i tried nocturne and spiral, but the armour pieces looked too short on them, so i ended up going for mirror instead

i also tried the tanned rogue apparels, but they covered up too much of the torso

marshlurker's drape to represent her coat, bc there wasnt a lot of suitable coats, and the more purple-y hue (and hat) also references her debut outfit

You're like THE Lucien expert so I was hoping you could help me with something if possible? Was it ever mentioned why the somnoven allowed Lucien to go that far to subdue them? His intentions were pretty clear (e.g. Calling them "babies"in that scried convo with Cree) and yet he was able to use the powers granted to him as he pleased. Did they not know? Or were they unable to do anything about it? I know it's a lot but it's been bugging me for a while now. Thank you!

This is one of the many MANY contradictions of canon that TNEOL has that pissed me off because Lucien is insulting them directly to their faces and they were RETALIATING (like straight up I think Timorei was like yeah we could have warned you your friends were about to die but you told us to shut up) yet they were still like “hahaha this guy won’t betray us.” It doesn’t make any damn sense.

In canon, it felt like Lucien was shielding himself from them, though I don’t really know how- when the Nein go to Cognouza, the Somnovem they meet repeatedly kept saying they couldn’t sense him, which is wild, right? They sensed Cree, Caleb, and Beau, so why not Lucien? And if he’d been planning on betraying them the whole time, of course he would hide his thoughts from them and pay them lip service whenever he was in contact with them. He was running a long con and he needed to keep his plans guarded. This isn’t stated but it’s at least directly implied and it’s the theory I subscribe to. I choose to believe he learned how to hide from them while he was in the Astral Sea to keep from getting fully overwhelmed by the Eldritch Madness and then carried it back to the Material Plane to keep his plans secret.

As for why they didn’t do anything about it… well I do have a couple theories.

1. They’re wizards and they didn’t actually think that Lucien could betray them. (By Talos This Can’t Be Happening) by the time they COULD, Lucien had seven nukes primed to end them.

2. They really COULDN’T do anything. We know the Somnovem can defend themselves but look at their kit and look at Lucien’s immunities and resistances. The only thing they have that he’s NOT resistant to is Culpasi’s slow and Elatis’s pull attack and we still don’t know what Mirumus does. And Lucien’s rend mind is psychic damage- the thing they’re VULNERABLE too. Their servant was literally built to tank them, which is a whole other theory about why that is. Like either they’re stupid or something else was influencing their kits and their blessings. (THARIZDUN???) but again, conspiracy theory.

They were also asking the Nein to stop Lucien too which tells me they know they can’t body him in a fair fight and Lucien didn’t come to fight a fair fight.

3. They’re not actual gods so they can’t even take his powers AWAY so there was nothing they could do. See points one and two.

SO YEAH tl;dr Lucien was probably shielding himself and the Somnovem were too prideful to think he’d betray them up until the last second when they couldn’t have fought him anyway.

hihi i'm back again for another damn rant about ship wars but yes I heard about the news that it's confirmed that Will and Robin are having scenes together. I am aware about it and I'm just going to say, I think it is a good idea to pair them up to talk about life and decisions, and I know that most of you guys just want them to be paired up so that will can talk to her about his feelings for mike and such and like I get it, I know, I think Robin is a good person to share feelings and come out to as she already came out to Steve so Will could technically potentially come out to Robin if he wanted to, but we don't know exactly why they are paired, I think the duffers not only they want to keep the og season 1 pairs but since there's new characters that were added in later seasons of course they want to experiment with new pairings. I'm not saying I don't agree with this pairing, i think it can be beneficial to both characters because they're talking about their decisions and choices, but I feel like there has to be other reasons but that's just my opinion.

I also heard about the potential rumor that Will has a love interest in season 5, and i don't really believe in the rumor unless it's from a reliable source but I'm just going to be honest, another source said that "it isn't mike" which again, another source i don't trust, but I'm just going to say this, fighting for your ships are still stupid and dumb, IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU SHIP MILEVEN OR BYLER, I hate the toxiciness of the community saying shit to make people upset with each other, like I don't care about what you ship but at least be decent about it, like if you don't like a certain post, just scroll past it, don't even interact with it, but I hate seeing people put blame on some fans and assume that all mileven fans are toxic, or all byler fans are toxic, It's bullshit, it's stupid, like I don't care about what you guys ship but I just hate how people still think of some fans as toxic just because they don't like your ship. like I'm sorry if there's fans that don't like mileven or byler, but I feel like the only thing to do is stay in your lanes. like if you like mileven, good, don't bother the bylers, if you like byler? good, just don't bother the milevens, I'm just sick and tired of all these people still bickering on how much they think a ship is worse than the other, they're fictional characters for gosh sakes.

anyways, sorry for my ramble, i just hate the ship wars that still keep on happening, I do want will and robin to have scenes together, i think it's good that they do because at least it helps build out wills character more as he sticks with another queer character on his journey about his life, but we all know that even if he does end up having a love interest it'll be likely at the epilogue since they are dealing a lot with carnage due to the upside down and vecna.

You can block me if you want, I'm just stating my opinions because I clearly want this ship war to be over, for people who are reading and agreeing with me, I appreciate you for that, I feel like there isn't many fans on tumblr that respect peoples opinions and I feel like they're quick to blame people for stating their opinion and thinking their opinion isn't "valid" but I feel like this needs to be said because I am sick and tired of people poking fingers at each other saying that one side of the fandom is toxic because of what they ship.

I respect people's opinions and decisions on what they ship so it's fine if you ship mileven, it's fine if you ship byler, but ship wars and fighting is not going to help the fandom, at the end of the day, we are going through the last final season and then we will most likely never see these characters ever again, it's a sad thought of course but sometimes good shows have to end. and we'll just have to see in the end what ship will be endgame and what ship will not be endgame, for all i know, I am not someone that reads the scripts or knows about the scripts, i'm just a fan just like you that wants people to respect others for their opinions, that is all, incase anything comes up, I might be back again to rant if there's still hatred and bullying that's going on still.

About the Ship Wars

I honestly really hate that we all still have to deal with ship wars, it really doesn't matter if you like byler or mileven, it's just dumb to see people judge each other for having their own opinion if they like byler or mileven or even both if that's even possible. I don't think it matters what ship even ends up endgame, i'm fine with either one of them that happens, i'm just not fine about the ship wars we all have to deal with, the show isn't always about love and romance even if its in the show and script, theres monsters, theres alternate dimensions, also some of the characters we all love will end up dying too which that's not really something to be happy about but we honestly don't have to fight over fictional characters and the ships we know about. I'm fine with whatever happens but I just hate how people fight over what ship they like. I don't tolerate any hate on this account so please don't comment anything bad about this I'm just stating my opinion on ship wars because I feel like they're very unnecessary. I do honestly agree that Mike might just be a confused bisexual boy who doesn't know if he likes will or el, so if that even happens by the end of season 4 then at least that happens. I'm aware about what netflixgeeked posted on their instagram but i still think we should all just relax because fighting is not going to make it feel better, i have no problem with both mileven and byler, but i don't really understand and like the ship war we all have to deal with, I also apologize for dissapearing on this account, I was really busy with school still but I am most likely back. I just think, we should all wait till Volume 2 comes out to see whatever even happens, I mean it's 4 hours of content so anything is basically possible when it comes to stranger things, it's possible that byler could happen, it's possible that mileven might still happen, but what gives if all of us has to complain every single day about what ship deserves to be endgame and what ship deserves to stay as a friendship, platonic or not, I also think either one of those ships being platonic soulmates or just soulmates in general is possible. I just hope that if will confesses mike better treat him fairly and not mess up on this, like I said, I still think mike is probably just a confused bisexual boy who has no idea what to do when his best friend has a crush on him while he has still feelings for most likely El. I've been most likely aware about the many hints being thrown at about Wills crush, i also hope we do end up seeing Will's painting which that might be another post I'll probably talk base about that since I feel like his painting can probably mean most likely anything since like Mr Clarke said "Once you open that curiosity door, anything is possible." but other than that, can we all just patiently wait till volume 2 comes out so we know what will happen anyways? I'm just sick and tired of people hating on each other for shipping byler or mileven, like both ships are good on their own ways depending on if you ship mileven or if you ship byler, your still valid about that even if you ship one of them or even both. Besides I have no problem with both ships, i mean, whatever happens happens, and just because I like both ships doesn't mean I'll judge you for liking either one of them or both.
