i remember i'd hear about how my state is one of the most dangerous places in terms of sex trafficking and i would think, what an awful thing. how terrible is it that my state has such an issue with trafficking that it's enough for it to be a well-known, well-documented serious danger/risk area.
and i still didn't think it would ever happen to me.
#familial trafficking is a very real thing and i am not okay :)#i still have a hard time coming to terms w it. i mean. thats what happened. i was trafficked. but it wasnt a stranger.#it was my fucking dad!! what the fuck!!!!!#he wouldnt stick around whenever hed bring me somewhere so it could happen. he literally left me w men he didnt even really know.#i remember one of them asked me once 'think your dad would let me keep you?' and all i could do was cry because well.#what exactly was stopping him from taking me? it sure as hell wasnt the law because me being seven fucking years old didnt matter.#im sure some of them thought about it. i just got lucky. i only got to go back home because of dumb luck. not everyone gets that chance.#sometimes i still feel like shit for using the word 'trafficking' to describe what happened to me because i know thats what it was#but it still doesnt feel like its *my* word to use. like im blowing it all out of proportion even though thats. literally what it was.#i dont know how to talk to anyone about it. just typing this made me have to put my phone down for a minute so i could try to calm down.#and then i also had to set it down for like an hour for the same reason. i just. im gonna go play minecraft for a few hours.#csa vent#trauma vent#actuallyabused#actuallytraumatized#tw trafficking#forgetting about this shit for years and having the memories come flooding back all of a sudden has been. thinking fondly of you<3 want to ditch the kids and go to a winery this weekend? (drink some red wine(supernova))
also thinking fondly about jaytim. specifically, about how oftentimes we think of them as a slow burn… but you know what might make them a fast burn (an explosion?)?
one of them gets kidnapped and everyone thinks they’re dead:( but then they’re alive
Always, love, I'm sure they'll be happy to spend some time with their favorite familial babysitters, I'll give them a call tonight🍷💥
And OUGH. Yes. SUCH a classic action hero hurt/comfort trope, I'm always here for mortal peril being the trigger that forces a couple to realize what they mean to each other and that they WANT to take that chance!!
I am reminded strongly of one of feyburner's comics that I love so much... in this comic they were hooking up beforehand and this is the scenario that like. Makes it emotionally REAL for Tim and i love that sooo much... but also OwO
thinking about The Scenario:
One of them is kidnapped. Due to inspo in part from feyburner's comic, I'm thinking Jason. But it's been so long/the method in which he was taken leads everyone to believe that Jason's dead. EVERYONE. Tim included. Thinking that he's dead hits Tim harder than expected. Why? It doesn't make sense. I didn't even like him that much, what the fuck.
But he goes after the bastards who did it twice as hard, ridden by this sharp grief he didn't know he would feel. He's on a warpath. He's chasing down leads, shaking down goons, snapping at everyone that it doesn't matter that Jason's already dead this is about justice this is about vengeance this is about preventing it from happening again-- and finally finds the Organization's big base. Their big HQ.
Methodically he goes about tearing it down, one-man guerrilla style. As he moves through the complex, KO'ing goons, sabotaging weapons and computers, hell he might even rig this place to blow--
He picks up chatter about moving the 'livestock' and 'dealing with the troublemaker' and figures there must be human prisoners here. Possibly trafficking victims. He's been raising all kinds of hell, and security is just now going on alert as they find the evidence of his entry--
--when over one of the radios on the goons he just took out, Tim hears a very familiar and very alive voice taunting the Organization that he's out. They should have killed Jason when they had the chance.
Tim immediately factors Jason and the victims into his plans, gets in contact with Jason over the radio (full mission mode, no time for feelings or explanations yet) to work together on bringing this place down.
So by the time things are cleared up-- bad guys busted, victims rescued, base blown to smithereens-- Tim has been wildly coming to grips with the fact that Jason is alive after all and the confusing rush of emotions that's inspired in him, but Jason still has no idea that everyone thought he was dead.
So when Tim finally sees Jason in person, missing half his gear and still wearing the clothes he was snatched in, dirty and bloody and asking what took him so long-- he's not exactly thinking clearly, okay? Kissing him was a purely adrenaline/relief fueled action.
"Woah," Jason breathes once Tim gives him the chance. "What was that for?" "Thought you were dead," Tim muffles against the skin of Jason's throat. His pulse beats hard against Tim's cheek, his lips, sternly refuting the allegations. "Oh," Jason says, bowled over and bewildered. He's still holding Tim with an arm around his waist, his other hand cupping the back of his head, big and steady. "Well. I'm not." Tim squeezes tighter, his fists trembling in the back of Jason's shirt. Jason is solid, and warm, and alive-- and Tim might be in love with him. "Yeah," he apologizes. "Sorry. Had to check." Tim's clearly stumped him. "Huh." Tim doesn't let go. But neither does Jason. Jason clears his throat. "You know, I don't have the best track record with being alive after all," he says in a rambling tone so casual it makes Tim's chest hitch. "You maybe wanna... check again?"
#gotta be one of my favorite action hero romance tropes lolol#jaytim#don't worry wifey i am still brooding over that pirates au ask fjdlksjfsa i'm hoping to get to it another night i prommy <33#🍷💥anon#asked and answered#the vibe with this is absolutely tim only realizing how he feels after jason is ''''dead''''#and jason getting kissed within an inch of his life and going 'oh shit. u kno i never thought about it? but now that it's happening? y e s'#and then they have 'thank god you're not dead' sex on the plane home or smth lol#or if this is a more local HQ they have 'thank god you're not dead' sex at the nearest safehouse#tim cries it's great#my writing#didn't realize how long this was slapping a read more on it lol

Wriothesley and Arlecchino
Okay but can we talk about Wriothesley and Arlecchino for a second because I am bouncing off the walls thinking about the two of them in relation to each other.
Spoilers for Wriothesley's story quest and voice lines below!
Recently, I've been thinking about how isolated Wriothesley is in terms of characters and how much or how little would change if he were not to exist or be a designated playable character. I love that man don't get me wrong but I was was just thinking about why he was made into something of such importance. Literally, he's in an underwater prison and they could've had an NPC warden with the same traits. Figuratively, we know he has a very dubious ability to trust as seen is voice line.
I've managed to get myself to a pretty comfortable place in life, but there's still some things I want that are outside my reach, like a peaceful and happy childhood, or the ability to trust other people. - More About Wriothesley: V
Anyways after watching the trailer with Arlecchino, I was struck with how much Wriothesley and Arlecchino both parallel each other or perhaps could even serve as each other's foils depending on how Arle's lore will change upon release!
Both were orphans. Each had siblings they were raised and some of which did not survive. Both killed their parental figures while young. But whereas Wriothesley was convicted and exiled for his crimes, Arlecchino was pardoned and not only that but her crimes were 'rewarded' with the title as Harbinger. (I use reward in a dubious sense as we don't know how she felt about her inherited title yet or if she was more or less thrust into it with no real agency in the matter.)
She was given a new name, Wriothesley chose his and discarded the one his adopted parents gave him.
God, even the start of the short when "Mother" is telling a story to the children we see how the future where they'd be pitted against each other but through their eyes. The colors are soft and bright. It's a child-like rendition of the brutal reality that Arle would later be faced with.
During Wriothesley's story quest, we learn the full extent of his backstory. He was being fostered by a couple who seemed perfectly lovely and loving but the truth of the matter was that they were trafficking the children under their care. That, or 'disposing' of them if they were useless or found out the truth. To use a veneer of love, of kindness and safety and that have that shattered in the most brutal of betrayals. Sounds familiar, huh?
"They did all of that, but never considered how their actions would utterly ruin all the children they took under their wing. Worse, perhaps they never cared about that at all."
—But I did.
Wriothesley, who took extreme actions and murdered his foster parents so the other children could live and be free, shouldering that sin.
Arlecchino who presumably had her siblings blood on her hands. Who had no siblings left but murdered "Mother" anyways. (I'm not entirely sold that her friend didn't throw herself on Arle's sword but nvm) and once alone, was placed back into that cycle that made her as we see her today in the first place.
Do I ship them? Do I want them to be found family? Enemies? Distant acquaintances? YESS I just want to see them interact with each other, hoyo please.
#Arlecchino#Wriothesley#genshin impact#genshin#genshin spoilers#I am bouncing off the walls I am skittering up them I am foaming at the mouth and have broken containment#I'm sure there's even more stuff that can be drawn between the two of them now time to rewatch all of Wriothesley's content in prep for her#Ok i do kinda ship them but i just want them to be together because i find their possibilities fascinating!!#rook posts stuff

i love little mousie nicky so much! he's just the sweetest little thing! i can just imagine him with the traffickers, trapped in a tiny little cage, so frightened of all of these huge scary men who do nothing but snarl at him and only occasionally give him food and water. but then one day the prettiest person he has ever seen arrives. he has gold hair and blue and green feathers and sparkles across his face, and he's so kind and gentle with nicky, making sure that he gets food and water. the pretty omega tells nicky to call him nico, and says that he'll protect him and keep him safe. nico tells nicky that he'll get him out of the smuggling ring, and that nicky will have a real home, and a real family, which is what nicky wants more than anything else.
and when the police arrive, nearly two weeks later, nico is the one who carries nicky to the ambulance, wraps him in a blanket and holds his hand as the emts check him over. nico also insists that he be the one to take nicky to the foster home, even though kimi desperately wants to get him home and safe, and his heart breaks as he hands nicky over to the carers, telling them how nicky likes blue cups more than red, he likes his sandwiches cut into squares not triangles, and that he needs nico's raggedy hoodie to be able to sleep properly. nico tries to tell nicky that things will be good and he will have a family now, but nicky is just as upset as nico.
nico leaves nicky there for a few days, and nicky hates it. he hates the mishmash of smells, hates how everyone is so loud, how some of the other kids ripped nico's hoodie from him and now he only has a little scrap of it, how his foster carer ignores everything that nico told her, and so nicky spends most of his time hiding, curled up under sofas or beds or in cupboards. in fact, he's hiding in a cupboard, the little scrap of nico's hoodie clutched to his chest when he smells nico again. he scurries over to find nico, who is so worried about him.
nico takes nicky outside, cuddling him and stroking his ears just the way that nicky likes it. and as nico questions nicky on the foster home, his heart sinks, because he wanted nicky to have a good and happy life, and it has quickly become clear that that's not going to happen here. nico asks nicky very gently what kind of family he would like, and nicky tells him that he wants someone like nico, and someone who will love him. nico goes home to toto and seb, and once he and toto are alone in bed, nico bursts into tears, begging toto to let him bring nicky home and give him a safe, loving home.
toto, seeing how much this means to nico, agrees, and the next day, they sit seb down to ask him whether he would be okay with bringing someone new into the home. seb is hesitant, but when momma and papa explain that nicky was hurt by bad people like him, and he needs a safe home with a brave, clever, big brother like seb he agrees. kimi helps nico arrange everything, and soon, nico is bringing nicky home. nicky is so excited that beautiful, kind nico wanted him to be a part of his family, but he is frightened when he meets toto and seb, because they're a wolf and a cat, and they hunt mousies like him, so he scurries under the sofa to hide unless it is just him and nico.
but slowly, he gets used to his amazing big brother, and his new papa who seems big and scary but is actually very soft and rumbly and is so good at tickling nicky's sides. and best of all, he gets to live with momma, who saved him, and gave him a new home, and even gave him a new, soft hoodie, that smells exactly like him, to keep under the sofa or wherever else nicky wants to hide to feel safe
Plsni am freaking OBSESSED with little mousy nicky!!!!!
Poor little baby in a cage all day, lucky if the traffickers remember to feed him and give him water and they are so mean to him! Always growling and telling him to shut up.
Nicky being so in awe when Nico gets thrown in with him, and sure, they still can't leave the room they are in but Nico takes the little mouse out of the cage and holds him, and makes sure Nicky is fed! Nico is so pretty and smiles when Nicky gently strokes his feathers or touches the sparkles on his cheeks. And nico tells Nicky thst he will have a family!!! Nicky is so in awe!!!
Nico and Nicky being saved by Kimi and Nico insists on holding Nicky when he gets medical checks and bringing him to the foster home. He rambles about what nicky likes abd dislikes and giving him an old hoodie because it calms the mousy a lot!
Nico being so relieved to be home with his Alpha and his cub but he is distracted and misses Nicky a lot and is so worried about him. He goes to visit without telling anyone and is horrified to see how scared and miserable Nicky is! He clearly hasn't been eating well and he only has a little scrap of the sweater for comfort. Nico holding Nicky so tight abd telling him its going to be okay, Nicky needs to be strong just a bit longer!
Pls nico bursting out in tears when he is home and alone with Toto and Toto is obviously a little hesitant, but he is quite easily sold seeing a video of the little mousy purring as he is snuggled up to Nico! They ask seb about it too and the cub is nervous but the fact that they asked him about his thoughts helps him trust their decision. And ofcourse he wants to help another pup!
Nicky being in awe when beautiful perfect nico comes to take him home!! He can't believe someone thst amazing wants him! Pls Nicky just staring in awe wt Nico the whole car ride home and climging to his hand as they head into the house! It's so scary when he sees seb and Toto tho snd even nico can't convince him to come out of the hiding spot for a while. Nicky being scarwd it means he won't get food but Nico brings him a sweater and blankets to snuggle and some snacks and a sippy cup with water 🥺🥺
Nicky gets spooked a little when a pair of big blue eyes appears ans thinks seb wants to hurt him but the older pup just lays on his stomach opposite Nicky's hiding space and holds his hands for a bit muttering about how sweet his papa and momma are!
Toto is the scariest for Nicky because Nicky has never met a nice Alpha. But his new papa is very gentle and sneaks him treats, and it feels nice to be hugged close while he rumbles! And plsssss Toto tickling Nicky' sides until the mousy is giggling and squeaking so happily! It's the best sound!!
Also seb would be so excited to have his little brother along on the camping trips🥺🥺🥺 and nicky loves being outside becausenhe was always inside in his cage before!

I noticed you’ve spoken very loudly about Joe and his treatment of Taylor. You’ve discussed controversy with Matty. But I’ve never seen you mention the GG issue. Can’t defend him on that one can you? He’s a disgusting human being for that.
I knew this was bound to come up. I was hoping to save it for my blog I’m building on topics like this. But okay. I’ll address it.
Why am I not outraged by Matty and GG 🌽? Well…
My ex that I have mentioned before was a 🌽 addict. We aren’t talking normal levels of consumption here. We are talking hours spent a day looking for the right material. Self pleasuring 6-8 times a day on a good day. Being abusive towards me because of the addiction. Doing and saying things I would never, ever repeat to anyone. Even when he knew my history… it never stopped it. It just made the things he did to me worse.
I also have spent a lot of time working with victims of sex trafficking. I myself was a victim of it - for a few decades at that.
I know the harsh realities of the 🌽 industry. I know that most of what you see on 🌽 hub or any of the millions of sites - including NSFW Reddit or OnlyFans are trafficking. The fact that someone is verified and seemingly willing to do said things - doesn’t mean they are. It’s amazing what you will be forced to make people believe. All the controllers need is some weakness. Need it be a child to threaten to harm or worse, family, loved ones etc or a slew of other things. Or the fact that deep fake technology is used on even the most basic of materials in order to keep things like their bodies completely unrealistic as well as hide the victims identity better.
And I know what you’re thinking - this should make me even more enraged at him and to hate his guts for it. Is it something I necessarily like about him? No. Not at all.
However - Matty is the type of guy that if he knew the deep underbelly of the industry and what it was really like… he would step away from it as a hole or try to be more conscious about what he consumes.
Remember - we also don’t know what his sex life is actually like. There are people all over the world who engage in that sort of degrading and physically brutal sexual acts by choice - and I am not referring to what he may have been consuming. I am referring to the private of one’s home. He has been in a long term relationship with a woman of colour to which he said he was going to marry one day and again - we have no idea what they did behind closed doors. It could have even been curiosity and someone happened to walk in.
The point is - attacking one man and shaming them is not going to fix the problem. It’s a witch hunt. If we go after Matty for this then we have to go to the men and women around you each and every day of your life. Including family members or friends. Most of the world’s populations have watched and used 🌽 to get off. (I’m talking teenagers and adults) and some of those you interact with day to day have seen things that make GG look innocent and it’s far more popular.
The issue isn’t with one man - because there’s 40,000 other people subscribed to that channel in the hub. The views of these videos are multimillion. But we live in a society where we are told it’s normal and you’re a prude or a liar if you don’t watch it.
Me raging and going after Matty about this is not only going to do nothing to solve the problem but shaming someone is going to make them more likely to do so it. Shame is a driving factor in addictions and 🌽 is no different.
I chose too, instead, educate people on the realities of the industry and how real trafficking is when it comes to that kind world. I fight for change and awareness and I do whatever I can for victims getting out and trying to heal and be out in the world again. I also work with victims of trafficking directly as well as partners of those who have sex / 🌽 addiction.
All any of this is - is a witch hunt. And the people who watch these things casually are not bad or horrible people. They believe whatever you see on sites like 🌽 hub or many others is consensual.
If the people ripping him apart took even a 1/10000 of that rage for one man and put it towards awareness… it might be a very different reality.

[19.06] mafia!hongjoong × reader
⇀ you were interested in hongjoong, a notorious leader of a very successful mafia organization. sadly he didn't see you that way. if only he knew the true you before making a rash judgement
⇁ tw : mafia life, angst, mentions of black market activities, death, violence, dark stuff. read at your own risk.
⇁ disclaimer : the author does not support any and all criminal/illegal acts. the narrative written in this story is purely fiction out of the author’s imagination. the things written here does not portray real mafia life nor is the author aware of how the mafia life is like. the author is a hermit loser.
The door to Hongjoong's office opened and in walked his right hand, with a teasing smirk on his face. Hongjoong looked up from the paperwork on his desk and looked up to the man with a raised eyebrow, "what are you smirking at?" he questioned.
Seonghwa nodded his head towards the door, "there's someone here for you," he said whilst holding onto his laughter. Hongjoong shifted his gaze from his friend to the door and then back to him again, "who?" "your girlfriend," Seonghwa teased.
Before Hongjoong could throw anything at him, though, Seonghwa had run off, laughing heartily.
Not long after, you came into his office with a wide smile. As per usual, you were dressed to impress, head to toe with a black and white vintage channel mini skirt and blazer, adorned with a channel necklace and earrings. As you walked in, Wooyoung, one of Hongjoong's trusted men, looked at your passing figure with mouth hanging low and a starstruck look on his face. But you didn't care, you only had eyes for Hongjoong.
It has been roughly five months since you started dropping into Hongjoong's office. Your dad, an equally highly successful head of the mafia from where you're from, wanted you to get married to expand his business and make more allies. He gave you several options but you were immediately intrigued by Hongjoong, one of the mafia heads he made a partnership with by providing him with weapons. The comprehensive file your dad gave you did Hongjoong no justice so you decided to get to know him for real.
Unluckily, Hongjoong is very secretive and protective of himself and his family (re: his brothers; his most trusted men in the mafia). He had been betrayed so many times before and his thirst for revenge both became his strength and downfall. While he managed to build a highly acclaimed mafia organization at such a young age, he closed off everyone who he deemed not worthy of his attention even after only seeing them for less than five minutes.
Sadly, that included you. You weren't the only one who got a comprehensive file on the other, he too had one of you. A straight-A student from Wharton with hobbies consisting of horseback riding and charity? He wondered whether you were preparing to take over your dad's mafia or to steal the Crown of England and be its ruler.
Hongjoong tried his best to hold in a groan of annoyance but even so, some still escaped him and you heard it. Though you were used to it so you just ignored him.
"Hi, Joong," you grinned widely at him, walking in and putting a medium-sized box of cake on his desk after closing his door. "Don't call me Joong," he grumbled.
In all honesty, your bubblegum personality sickened him. He knows for a fact that no one is that happy-go-lucky and excited and has rainbows shooting out of their asses 24/7. So there has to be something you were hiding from him.
You only chuckled at his response, "You're a sourpuss, you know that? You're gonna have wrinkles before you hit thirty if you keep frowning all the time like that," you said as you focused yourself on opening the cake box.
Inside it was the cake you made for him. All the times you visited him, you never made him something from scratch. You were trained to be the head of a mafia organization one day, not in the kitchen. So that cake was the very first thing you made and you were beyond proud of yourself.
"Look," Hongjoong exhaled sharply, starting to get annoyed even before you did anything, "You came at a bad time, I need to get a hundred thousand things done before tonight, in case you didn't realize, my organization is-" "in the brink of war with Stray Kids, I know, I've read the reports," you simply said, hands moving to cut the cake in front of you to hand to him.
"I have connections with the leader's soft spot, the foreigner one, I can make a deal that would help your case if you would jus-"
"NO!!!!" he yelled out, slamming his hands onto his desk, startling you so much that you accidentally dropped your knife and stepped back a little.
Maybe it was the stress of having to deal with things alone, or maybe it's just him finally snapping from overthinking about you, but one thing's for sure is that he had had enough. He needed to put you in your place.
"You may be your daddy's little princess back home, all dressed in white and pink and lace, showered with Channels, Tiffanys and your hoity-toity prestigious Wharton degree. But here, you're nothing, got me? You understood nothing about having to work your ass off to get the recognition and rewards you deserve, you had your daddy behind you this whole time and that's very convenient for you. But don't come here and act like you know shit, okay? Our worlds are different, you came from a cotton candy palace, I came from the ditch, your opinion means less than shit to me," he spat out so quickly, he didn't realize that your expression changed to something that he had never seen before.
Your eyes were blank and glazed, lips slightly quivering and chest heaving.
Hongjoong thought that he had really put you in your place and he was about to celebrate the fact that he might finally drove you away when you opened your mouth.
"Cotton candy palace? Not understanding having to work my ass off?" you choked out.
At first, Hongjoong thought you were gonna cry. But a sadistic, maniacal laugh resonated in the room from where you were doubled over, holding onto your stomach.
It was Hongjoong's turn to be stunned into silence.
"Oh my god, I thought you were smarter than that," you muttered as you calmed down, wiping tears from the corner of your eyes, "you think that this is who I am?" you asked with a raised eyebrow at him.
Hongjoong was confused about whether or not he should speak. It was the first time anyone had ever stunned Hongjoong and Hongjoong didn't know what to do.
"I was born from a girl who was en route to be sold in a human trafficking ring, I came out premature and was about to be sold to a satanic cult as their sacrifice but my 'dad' 'rescued' me. I was stored in a facility with thirty other children, we were trained to be assassins since before we could walk, brainwashed with ideals that ruined our brains. One by one, each year some of us were taken out if we show a lack of improvement or no promise," as you talked, you took off your earrings and necklace and put them on Hongjoong's desk.
While you ran a hand through your messy hair, you stared into him deeply, "I was seven when I first killed someone, my last competition. She was two years older than me and she was sold by her parents for coke money, or as the warden told us. We were reminded every day of how worthless we are so we wouldn't rebel and escape. But even in despair, I wanted something more. That's where daddy came in. He was impressed with me and he took me in as his daughter, telling people one of his whores were pregnant with me to assure my legitimacy. I was schooled in my own private red room. I had to fight for my right as a human being, I made deals with my dad to be able to go out with bodyguard escorts for only an hour every month,"
Hongjoong's eyes followed your hands that gripped onto the edge of your skirt, "did your little binder wrote that I went on my first official mission when I was just twelve? My dad cut the ballet lesson that I trade in for 120 hours of combat training short to gear me up, put me in a room of adult men and sent me off to plant an active bomb in 5 minutes in an air vent of the headquarters of his rival, crazy, right?" you chuckled humorlessly whilst ripping your skirt off to reveal your black shorts inside, a knife and a gun holstered on your thighs were revealed, making Hongjoond's eyes widened.
He never would have imagined someone like you to carry weapons under your very girly outfit. Or to even have such a traumatizing backstory.
"My whole appearance is compensation for my very dark upbringing, I wanted to hide it all. My dad told me I was stupid, that I belonged in the dark, dark world. But when I went to Wharton, I tried to change myself. I thought that I might be able to be the person I wanna be by marrying someone my dad approved so I don't have to take over wholly, I could just be the voice by the side, lending my skills and help the organization indirectly,"
You looked down at your heels clad feet for a second, letting your toes point and moving them from left to right to see what it looks like.
At this point, Hongjoong felt bad for having blown up at you. You had only wanted to spend time with him and even if he didn't want to see you, he could've said it nicely. Hongjoong never felt like this before, it was very weird for him.
He was about to walk over to you when you suddenly took your heels off in a flash and threw them both at Hongjoong so hard that it embedded deep into the wall on either side of his face.
Your usual smile was replaced with a frown, the eyes that usually twinkled showed nothing but darkness. He barely recognized you and he was on edge about it.
"You made your standing with me perfectly clear, Kim Hongjoong, while my dad is one to stop things before they become an issue, I like to see how things unravel," you smirked at him.
"What do you mean by that?" he asked, not being able to process anything.
"It means that your partnership with my dad is off, good luck finding a new weapons supplier," you spat out before turning around to leave the room, leaving traces of yourself behind at his office.
Hongjoong wanted to call after you, try to make things better somehow. But his head still couldn't even wrap around the shocking information you had just revealed.
Not long after you left, Yeosang came in but stopped at the door, scanning the room that was littered with remnants of you. "What the fuck happened here? Did a hooker tried to kill you!?" he asked, still confused at the situation.
When Yeosang looked up, he saw Hongjoong in a way he had never seen him before.
Nervous.
"I-I- I think I just forged a war between us and the largest mafia weapons manufacturer on the eastern hemisphere," he uttered out.

Can’t Go Back Part 23
The boys showed up for brunch on time this week. Scott was smirking at me every time I limped a little. It’s been a while. I flipped him off when no one was watching. “He should be less grouchy now.” I muttered.
“Great.”
“Want another coffee, Monty?” Scott asked. I shot him a death glare.
“I’m good. Golden.”
“I’m sure you are.” He smirked. I walked over to my husband and hugged him sheepishly. He kissed the top of my head. Justin snorted. I rolled my eyes. Charlie was his usual nice self and said nothing. I did catch him smiling at us though.
I wasn’t feeling the whole making a nice, big meal thing this morning, so I pulled out a couple of boxes of cereal-the ones Monty doesn’t eat out of-and set them on the island. There was bread next to the toaster and yogurt in the fridge. I waved towards the food. “My home is your home. Brunch is served.” The boys replied with a chorus of thank you’s. I sat back and watched them from the corner of the kitchen. They moved around each other so easily and fell into joking conversation so easily. It was almost hard to remember where we had come from even just a year ago. I thought back to the day we told Justin about us. I was positive there would be at least a little blood. Hence the public, well trafficked, meeting place. Monty said something I didn’t catch, and Justin threw his head back laughing. Scott shook his head.
“Hey, question for you guys?” Charlie asked, breaking me from my revere.
“Yeah?”
“Why do you keep Nutella in the fridge?”
“Don’t question it.” Monty shook his head. “It was a point of contention. Just let it happen.”
“Do you keep peanut butter in the fridge?”
“Yeah. But that’s because we buy the natural one and it says to refrigerate it.” I shrugged.
“Why do you buy natural peanut butter?” Justin asked, his mouth half full of toast.
“Points.” Monty replied. Justin nodded.
“But Nutella isn’t really natural.” Charlie pointed out.
“I don’t know. My family always kept it in the fridge after opening it. Just one of those things I guess.” I shrugged.
“And my family did not. So, we compromised and keep it in the fridge.”
“Okay. Are you going to eat anything Addison?” I nodded and grabbed a bowl for some yogurt and granola.
When I looked for the dried cherries to put on top, I couldn’t find them. I knew we had some somewhere. I just bought them. Remembering that Monty had helped put away the last grocery shop, I stepped back from the pantry and looked up. Low and behold, there were the cherries. Two shelves from the top. I blinked rapidly.
“Hey babe.”
“Yes honey?” He obviously knew what I was going to ask.
“Where are the cherries?”
“I think you can see them.”
“Yes. I can. And why are they up there?”
“I’unno.” The boys laughed at his response.
“Honey?”
“Yes dear?”
“How tall am I?”
“Five somethin’?”
“Yeah.”
“On a good day.” I rolled my eyes. Dick.
“And how high would you say that shelf is?”
“Six somethin’ give or take?”
“Okay. And love?”
“Darling?”
“How am I supposed to reach them when they are over a foot above me?” Justin, Scott, and Charlie burst out laughing.
“Reach real high?” Justin suggested.
“Use the Force?” Charlie added.
“Scale the shelf?” Scott laughed.
“Ha ha. Very funny boys.”
“It is, yeah.”
“Assholes.” I smirked.
“Would you like some help babe?” I sighed. The stubborn part of me said no but the growl of my stomach said yes.
“Since you offered.” I stepped out of the way. Monty grabbed the cherries and tore open the bag for me. He grabbed a spoon to scoop some out and sprinkled them on top. I watched as he arranged some more in a smiley face at the edge of the bowl. He was so sweet. Our friends pretended not to notice. I heard them whispering about it after brunch though.
We sat around for a while before our friends had to leave. “If you need help later, call me.” Justin offered.
“I know. Hopefully we won’t have to.” Justin gave Monty a look above me. His brow rose slightly. “I’ll tell mum and dad you say hi.” We hugged and the three boys left us alone for the rest of the afternoon. It was around twelve thirty. We still had a couple of hours to kill before we had to go to my parent’s place. I changed my pants, grabbed a book from the shelf and got comfortable on the couch. Monty came over and laid on the couch with his head in my lap. He flipped on the tv quietly and I played with his hair. He pressed a soft kiss to my thigh and squeezed it a little.
“Not happening right now. I don’t want to have to shower twice today.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He muttered against my thigh.
“And I’m still a little sore.”
“Could tell you how to fix that.”
“I don’t think that would fix it Casanova.”
“Only one way to find out.” He nipped my thigh lightly. I sucked in a small breath.
“Was staying up until four not enough for you?” He didn’t answer. “Oh wait. Who am I talking to? Of course, it wasn’t.” I ruffled his hair.
“You weren’t complaining about it last night. Or this morning.”
“I’m not complaining.” I smirked into my book.
“Alright.” He kissed my thigh again.
“I’m not saying we can’t Montgomery. I’m just saying we can’t right now. When we get back from mum and dad’s, you can have me all to yourself.”
“That’s so far from now though.”
“I’m sure you’ll survive. Besides, wouldn’t you rather have the time to make it interesting?”
“I can do quite a lot in,” he paused to check his watch, “an hour and fifteen minutes.”
“You also get the luxury of sitting on the couch though. I have to bend and stuff.” I looked down as he rolled his eyes playfully.
“Fine, fine.”
“I’ll shower as soon as we get home, promise.”
“Then I get you all to myself for the night?” I nodded. He sat up and pulled my book down to kiss me. “Deal.”
We got to my parent’s place a little bit before three. Mum and dad were still going through the hutch to see what they wanted to keep or get rid of. There were a few different piles in the living room. “Hey kids.”
“Hey dad.”
“Need any help?”
“No, Monty. You go sit. Rest up.” Mum shooed. “There’s a pillow on the couch for you.”
“I can do this part though. It’s just organizing.” He protested. Mum looked up at him with her best mom face.
“I’d listen to her son.” Dad said, seriously.
“I haven’t gotten that look in a long time.” I shook my head.
“Okay.” Monty sighed and went to sit on the couch.
I think he felt a little useless. I smiled at him and mouthed ‘I love you’. He mouthed it back. My mum waved me over and made me take her spot. She got up and began to twitter around Monty. She was trying to be helpful. I turned as she got him a glass of water and fluffed the pillow that he was elevating his leg on. I lifted a brow.
“She never fluffed my pillow when I was injured.” I muttered to my dad.
“She didn’t even fluff my pillow when I broke my ankle skiing when we were young and could still do that kind of thing.”
“Are you sure you could do it then? Seeing as you broke your ankle.” I joked. Dad chuckled.
“We were young and spry once Addison.”
“I’m sure you were dad.” I stuck my tongue out at him. I held up an old pair of mittens. At least I thought it was a pair. Dad shook his head and I tossed it in the garbage pile.
“Can I get you anything else dear?”
“No thanks Margot. I’m all good here. Thank you.” You wouldn’t be hovering so much if you knew he was cleared for physical activity.
Mum puttered around the kitchen, regularly checking in on Monty. Dad and I continued to dig through the hutch and get rid of things. Every now and then one of us would find something random and have to stop to ask mum what to do with it. Usually the answer was “If we haven’t needed it for long enough that it’s been exiled to the hutch, we don’t need it.” None of us could argue with that logic. I sighed when I pulled out yet another pair of mittens. Turning to the pile of only mittens I had begun to make; I shook my head.
“You two know we live in the Bay area, right?”
“Yes. Why do you ask?”
“Because there is a pile of like twenty pairs of mittens here.”
“We use them when we go out east in the winter.” Mum said as she walked over.
“Mum. When is the last time we went to Boston over the winter?” I literally could not remember. She had to stop and think. “If it’s been that long, we don’t need them.”
“We should keep a few pairs though. Your father and I might want to go sometime.” I shrugged. I turned to my husband. He looked like he desperately wanted something to do. I figured mum wouldn’t protest too much if he went through the mittens. It wasn’t like it required a whole lot of lower body movement. He nodded gratefully.
Gathering up the pile, I walked over and dropped them on the coffee table. Monty looked relieved to have something to do. “She means well.” I mumbled and kissed the top of his head. He nodded. We were almost done emptying the catch-all. I groaned internally. That meant it was almost time to move that stupid thing. They had to wait until Montgomery was injured to get rid of it. Mum and dad finished emptying and organizing while I grabbed some rags to try to slide the oversized hutch on without completely destroying the floors.
Because of the front steps and where the garage door was in the house, it was easier to move it through the house the long way, than to take it outside the shorter way. Since I was quote ‘closer to the ground’ as Montgomery put it, I was in charge of sliding the rags underneath the massive wooden beast. Mum and dad heaved one corner up off the ground and I quickly slid a rag underneath. They huffed slightly when it went down. “One down. Three to go.” I said.
“Mhmm.” Dad hummed. We tried to work as quickly as possible with the remaining three corners. The three of us stood back to try and assess the best plan of action now. Mum suggested we try to just push it all from one side. That sounded like an accident waiting to happen to me. Dad thought we could have more success if we pushed and pulled straight from opposing sides. Again, that sounded like a very expensive ambulance ride would be in our near future. I suggested that we try shimmying it across the house from opposing sides. My parents shrugged at the idea. To me it seemed like the safest option.
“Fourth option. We call Justin to help.” Monty piped up from the couch.
“No, I don’t want to bother him if we don’t have to. He has his own things to do today.” It was Saturday after all. He usually hit a meeting sometime this afternoon or evening. We all agreed to at least try to do it on our own.
“I see why you like to… what do you call it babe? Supervise?” Monty asked, from his spot on the couch. That used to be my spot. He looked quite comfortable.
“Yeah. What of it?” I huffed.
“This is nice.” I rolled my eyes. Dad grunted as he pushed his side of the hutch. It moved less than an inch.
“What if we shimmy it that way a little more?” Mum suggested.
“That could help.” Dad shrugged. We pushed. And then we pulled. And then we pushed a little more. The damn thing wouldn’t budge. I stood up and put my hands on my waist to catch my breath.
“Can we call for more muscle now?” Dad nodded. Monty grabbed my phone off the coffee table and called Justin. He put it on speaker.
“Hey Addy.”
“Hey. Are you busy?”
“No, why? Need some help?”
“Yeah. Scared dad is going to throw his back out.”
“I’ll be right over. Zach is with me. It’ll be a breeze.”
“Sounds good.”
“The hutch is like two hundred pounds man. I think you should lower your expectations.”
“Says the guy who gets to watch from the couch.” Monty just laughed and hung up.
The three of us took a break while we waited for Justin and Zach to show up. I wondered if Zach was going to be in a better mood today or not. I wiped the sweat from my face with the collar of my shirt. Monty looked up at me when I sat down next to him. “You’re going to need to go sit somewhere else.” He whispered. I sniffed myself even though I hadn’t sweat that much. Or as much as I was likely to later.
“I don’t smell that bad.” I rolled my eyes.
“No, you don’t.” I turned to him, surprised by his shortness with me. When I caught sight of his eyes darkening, it made sense. “I need you to go sit somewhere else, Doll.”
“Okay.” I nodded and stood. Making myself comfortable on the love seat, I sighed. “Why did you decide that now was the best time to move the hutch?” Dad shrugged. Neither of them said anything. Their silence worried me. They didn’t move it before because Gran would have been so upset if she came to visit and it wasn’t there. Does that mean…? “Gran isn’t... sick or anything, is she?” Monty and I both looked at my parents over the couch.
“Oh! No, honey. Not that your dad or I know about anyway.” I breathed a sigh of relief. I might think she is a backwards, far too rich for her own good, arrogant old lady, but she’s still my grandma.
Justin and Zach sauntered in around four thirty. “Heard you needed some muscle?” Justin grinned, flexing dramatically. I rolled my eyes and shook my head. What a dork.
“Woah there, slugger. Put those away before you hurt someone.” Dad laughed. Mum shook her head and continued to fuss over Monty. He looked less than thrilled with the attention.
“Hey Zach.” I nodded.
“Hey.” He looked at Monty and pointed discreetly. Monty shrugged.
“Hey man.”
“Hey.”
“Thank you for coming boys.”
“No problem, Mama. Where do you need us?”
“Mama?”
“No good?”
“No.” Mum replied, flatly.
“Alright.” Justin laughed. He seemed very cheery.
The five of us went back to the hutch to try to decide on a better plan of action. Zach took a couple of laps around the hutch, and then walked to the back door. He shrugged and then walked back to the hutch. “Shimmying it sounds like the best option. You might need more cloth though. Didn’t you guys redo the floors like a year ago?”
“Yeah. And we almost slipped when we got home from that movie?” I laughed.
“What movie was it?”
“Leap Frog or something?”
“With Amy Adams?”
“Yeah.”
“Leap Year.” Monty added. “You went to a rom-com with my girlfriend.”
“Hey dude. If I knew she was your girlfriend I would have told you to take her. It was a replay at the Crestmont anyway. It’s not like it was new.” Justin cleared his throat. Oh. Crap. Zach and I looked at each other wide-eyed.
“Mom? Would you say these two mitts go together?”
“Yes. I would.” Dad stepped in to try to diffuse some tension.
“I think there is a drop cloth or two in the closet upstairs. Justin, why don’t you go grab it?”
“Sure Pops.” He mumbled. I slumped against the hutch when he went upstairs.
“We suck. I feel so bad.”
“I know. I’m sure he’s fine though. He’s tough.” Zach patted me on the back. It was the most unforced physical contact we had had recently.
Justin came down a while later with the drop cloth and a few old beach towels. He was smiling so I thought that everything must be okay. Dad helped him spread the drop cloth on the floor and the beach towels went over top of that. We all groaned once the floor protection was down. That meant we had to lift it up again. Zach, Justin, and dad took one side while mum and I took the other. When that didn’t help anyone, Justin came over to help mum and I. It turned out that our extra muscle was actually Zach. He traded places with Justin and the five of us managed to get one side of the hutch on the cloth. Mum elected herself to pull the cloth underneath if we lifted the other side. After another few minutes of heaving and grunting and whining, we got the cloth under the hutch.
Now that it was fully on a slidable surface, we could shimmy it through the house easier. The boys decided to push us ladies to the side and handle it themselves. Mum and I shook our heads at each other. “You’re doin’ great guys.” Monty called from the couch. He wasn’t even looking. So much for supervising. I smiled as dad showed off for my mum a little. Even after all these years, they were still so in love with each other. No matter how many fights they got in or how hard things got, they always had each other’s back. They were truly partners. Dad, Justin, and Zach had moved it all the way to the back door now. All we had to do was get it over the hump and find a spot for it in the garage. Mum and I were called over to facilitate a spot. It wasn’t until after the hutch was situated in a corner, safely away from anything that could fall on it and break whatever fell-because this thing could probably survive a bombing, let’s be honest here-that I spotted a dolly in the rafters. I chuckled and rolled my eyes.
“Hey parents.”
“Hey kid?” Dad answered.
“Why didn’t we just use the dolly?” Dad was silent for a moment.
“I-I. It’s moved now. That’s what’s important.” Justin and I shrugged.
I had broken quite the sweat from the workout and knew that I had promised Monty alone time when we were finished. I wanted to go home and shower. I wanted to be alone with my husband. And I could tell he was growing tired of my mother’s constant fussing. She means well. Monty and I took our leave at the same time as Justin and Zach did. Mum and dad thanked us for the help. They were both grateful for the free labour.
Us kids stood on the front walk awkwardly. We didn’t really know how to say bye to each other. Zach definitely was not friends with Monty, and I wasn’t holding my breath on that. I wasn’t even sure if I was still friends with Zach anymore. And even though we joked around inside, I don’t think it changed anything for him. Maybe he was starting to come around a little? I couldn’t be sure. The joking around. I nervously peeked at Justin. He seemed fine enough. We still didn’t really spend a lot of time talking about what happened while he was… out of town. It just never felt like the right time or that there wasn’t a way to really talk about it without someone being the asshole in the conversation. We all decided the easiest way to say bye was the most awkward pleasantries we could come up with. The thanks wave and no problem nod. A nod towards the car. And of course, fumbling the keys. I waved as I drove past the Audi. Zach waved back.
After we were home and I had my shower, Monty scooped me up bridal style-even though it was still against doctor’s orders- and dropped me on the bed. I landed with a soft ‘oof’ and smiled up at him. “Time for things to get interesting.” He smirked down at me. His large hand wrapped around my thin ankle and pulled me towards him.

Do you think Jason Todd fandom is kinda toxic? Because it seems like NO MATTER what DC do, there'll always be complains. Forget the bad adaptation like Titans. Even Judd Winick cannot escape the criticism with how he potrayed Robin!Jason. They just never satisfied.
SORRY, IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO RESPOND TO THIS. I just moved from Washington D.C. to Seattle, which, for my non-American friends, that's 4442km away. And I DROVE THERE ALL BY MYSELF. And now I'm trying to find new work in a new city and trying to stay mentally healthy and positive. Life is exciting but hard and scary.
*sighs*
As someone who was a fandom elder with V*ltr*n. I've seen some of the worst when it comes to fandom behavior. I'm talking people baking food with shaving razors and trying to give them to the showrunners. I'm talking leaking major plot details and refusing to take it down unless they make their ship canon (I am looking at you, Kl*nce stans) For the most part, DC Comics has had a decades-long reputation of treating their fans like trash and not caring what they think so from what I've seen, we all just grumble and complain in our corners of the internet about how we don't like how X comic portrays Jason Todd.
The challenge with Jason Todd is that he's your clinical anti-hero, the batfamily's Draco in Leather Pants, he's a jerkass woobie, and on top of all of that, he's a Tumblr sexyman. It's a perfect storm for a very fun but frustrating character to be a fan of. It doesn't help that every writer decides to re-invent the wheel every time Jason comes up so his canon lore is confusing at best and inconsistent as a standard.
I guess starting with a general brief on who Jason is and what is uniform about him with every instance he's appeared in comics/media.
Grew up in a poor family in Gotham with a dad who was a petty-mid-level criminal, and a mother who dies of a drug overdose.
Survives on the street on his own by committing petty crimes and potentially even engaging in sexual acts to keep himself alive.
Is cornered by Batman and taken in after Dick Grayson quits/is fired
Becomes the second Robin, but is known for being the harsher, more brutal Robin.
Is killed by Joker after being tortured, but somehow comes back to life and regains senses through the Lazarus Pit
Resolves himself to be better than Batman by basically being Batman but kills people.
Where there has been a lot of conflict in the fandom is the fact that Jason Todd is not a character that is written consistently. DC Comics loves to go with the narrative that Jason was "bad from the start" and was the "bad robin" when, yes, he has trouble controlling his anger, but he also still is just as invested in seeing the best of Gotham City and trying to be a positive change for the world as any other DC Comics hero.
Where I get frustrated with the fandom is its ability to knit-pick every detail of a comic they don't like while completely disregarding everything that makes the comics great and worth it to read. My example being Urban Legends. To which most people had pretty mixed reactions to. I was critical of the comic at first but as it went along I ended up really liking it. I have a feeling DC Comics went to Chip Zdarsky and told him he had 6 issues to bring Jason back into the Bat Family, and honestly he didn't do a bad job. Did it feel rushed? Absolutely. I wish there was more development of Jason and Bruce's characters and their dynamic as a whole. However, where I see a lot of people being angry and upset with Urban Legends is that they feel Zdarsky needlessly wrote Jason as an incompetent fool who needs Bruce to save him.
Whether or not that was the intention of Zdarsky is up to debate. However, and this may be controversial, but I don't think he wrote Jason Todd out of character at all. For as fearsome, intimidating, and awesome as Red Hood is. Jason is a character who is absolutely driven by his emotions. Why do you think he donned the role of Red Hood? As a response to his anger towards The Joker for killing him, and towards Bruce for not taking action against The Joker and for seemingly replacing him so quickly after he died. Jason didn't care about being the murderous Robin Hood or for being the bloody hammer of justice against N*zi's and P*d*ph*les. He only cared originally about making The Joker and Bruce pay. It wasn't until he trained under the best assassins in the world and realized most of them were horrific criminals who trafficked children and were p*dos that Talia began to realize that the teachers that she sent Jason to train under started dying horrific and painful deaths.
The entire story of the Cheer story in Batman Urban Legends was started because it finally forced some consequences upon Jason. Tyler, aka Blue Hood's father was a drug dealer who gave his supply to his wife and kids. And when Tyler's father admitted he gave the drugs to Tyler, it immediately made him fall within the self-imposed philosophical kill-list of Jason Todd. And Jason, well, he proceeds to kill Tyler's father. When this happens, Jason is in shock. Tyler's dad fit the bill to easily and justifiably be killed by Jason. We've never seen Jason having to deal with the consequences of being a murderous vigilante on a micro-level. When Jason realizes what he's done in that he's murdered Tyler's dad, he's shocked. He tells Babs the truth. He does a rational thing because he's in shock. He doesn't know what to do, he never has had to face the consequences of his actions as Red Hood and now the gravity of befriending a child as a vigilante hero who kills people just set in when he killed the father of the same child he was just introduced to.
(Oh here's a little aside because it had to be said, Jason would not have been a good father or a good mentor to Tyler and absolutely should not have been his new Robin. Jason is a man who is in his early 20's (not saying men in their early 20's can't be good fathers at all) who is a brutal serial killer using the guise of a vigilante anti-hero to let him escape most of the law. the complications of having the man who murdered your father adopt you and make you his sidekick are way too numerous for me to explain in a long-winded already heavy Tumblr essay post. There's a reason why we don't advocate for a story where Joe Chill adopted Bruce Wayne or one where Tony Zucco took in Dick Grayson.)
The next biggest argument is that they feel that Jason is giving up his guns as a means to just be invited back into the Bat-Family. To which I will tell anyone who has that argument to go actually read Urban Legends. Already have and still have that argument? Please re-read it. Don't want to? That's okay, I will paste the images from the comic where Jason specifically says that he doesn't want to give up his weapons for Bruce and his real reasoning down below since the comic isn't exactly readily accessible.
Jason gave up the guns because he felt the gravity of what he had done and knows how it'll effect Tyler. Thankfully his mom is alive and in recovery. But Tyler doesn't have a father anymore. And Jason killed Tyler's father. It may have been in accordance to Jason's philosophy, but it was a case where it blurred the lines. Jason Todd isn't a black and white character, just very dark gray. He doesn't kill aimlessly like the Joker. If you are on Jason's list you probably have done something pretty horrific, and also just in general, being in his way or being a threat to him. Mind you, in early days of Red Hood and the Outlaws (Image below) Jason almost killed 10 innocent civilians in a town in Colorado all because they saw him kill a monster. That being said, Jason isn't aimless in his kills.
(Also can we just take a moment to appreciate Kenneth Rocafort's art? DC Comics said we need to rehabilitate Jason Todd's image and Kenneth Rocafort said hold my beer: It's so SO GOOD)
That being said, the key emphasis in the story of Cheer asides from trying to introduce Jason Todd back into the Bat Family and give an actual purpose for him being there, other than him just kind of being there ala Bowser every time he shows up for Go Kart racing, Tennis, Golf, Soccer, and the Olympic games when Mario invites him, is that Jason and Bruce ultimately both want the same thing. Jason wants to be welcomed back into the family and to be loved and appreciated. Bruce want's Jason back as his son and wants to love and protect Jason. Both of these visions are shown in the last chapter of Cheer while under the effect of the Cheer Gas. It's ultimately this love and appreciation they both have for each other that helps them overcome their challenge and win.
Jason Todd is a character who, just like Bruce, has been through so much pain and so much hate in his life. The two are meant to parallel each other. While Bruce chose to see the best in everyone, giving every rogue in his gallery the option to be helped and give them a second chance, hence why he never kills, Jason has a similar view on wanting to protect the public, but he understands that some crimes are so heinous they cannot be forgiven, or that some habitual criminals are due to stay habitual criminals, and need to be put down. But at the end of the day, the two of them both try to protect people in their own ways.
I am aware that through the writings of various DC Comics authors such as Scott Lobdell and Judd Winick, the two have had a very tumultuous relationship. And rightfully so, I am by no means saying that Scott Lobdell writing an arc where Bruce literally beats Jason to within an inch of his life in Red Hood and the Outlaws, nor Judd Winick's interpretation of Under the Red Hood where Bruce throws the Batarang at Jason's neck, slicing his throat and leaving him ambiguously for dead at the end of the comic is appropriate considering DC Comics seems to be trying everything they can to integrate Jason back into the family. That being said, a lot of these writings have shaped the narrative of Jason and Bruce's relationship and have an integral effect on the way the fandom views the two. It doesn't help that Zdarsky acknowledged Lobdell's life-beating of Jason by Bruce at the very end of Cheer by having Bruce give Jason his old outfit back as a means of mending the fence between the two of them. That does complicate a lot of things in terms of how they are viewed by the fandom and helps to cause an even greater divide between the two.
Regardless, I want to emphasize the fact that Jason Todd is a part of the family of his own accord. Yes, he's quite snarky and deadpan in almost every encounter. However, Jason is absolutely a part of the family and has been for a while of his own will. There's a great moment in Detective Comics that emphasizes this. Jason cares about his family because it is his found family. Yes, they may be warry about him and use him as a punching back and/or heckle him. At the end of the day, we're debating the family dynamics of a fictional playboy billionaire vigilante whose kleptomania took the form of adopting troubled children and turning them into vigilante heroes. Jason Todd wants a family that will love and support him. This is a key definition of his character at its most basic. This was proven during the events of Cheer and is being reenforced by DC Comics every time they get the opportunity to do so.
Now, none of this is to say that I hate Judd Winick. I do not, I don't like the fact that in all of his writings of Jason, he just writes him as a dangerous psychopath, and Winick himself admits to seeing Jason as nothing much more than a psychopath. Yet Winick is the one who the majority of the fandom clings to as the one true good writer of Jason Todd because 'Jason was competent, dangerous, smart' Listen, friends, Jason is all of that and I will never deny it. However, what I love about Jason isn't that he's dangerously smart of that writers either write him as angsty angry Tumblr sexyman bait or that they write him as an infantile man child with a gun. There's a large contention of this fandom that has an obsession with Jason Todd being this vigilante gunman who is hot and sexy and while I definitely get the appeal. It is very creepy and downright disturbing that all of you hyperfixate on his use of guns and ability to be a murderer. It is creepy and I'm not necessarily here for it.
What I love about Jason Todd is that despite all of the pain, all of the heartache, all of the betrayal, and bullying, and death, and anguish. Jason Todd is one of the most loving and supportive characters in all of DC Comics. Jason has been through so much in his life, but he still chooses to love. He still chooses to see the bright side in people. Yes, he takes a utilitarian approach and chooses to kill certain villains, but at the end of the day he wants to see a better world, and he wants to be loved. It takes so much courage and so much heart to learn to love again after one has been abused or traumatized. I would not blame Jason at all if he said fuck it and just went full solo and vigilante evil. He has every right to, but he still chooses to be with the Bat Family of his own accord. That's something that I see a lot of in myself. I have been through a lot of trauma and yet I try to be a better person myself in any way that I can. It is extremely admirable of Jason to allow love back into his heart when he really doesn't need to. He kills and he protects because he has this love of society. It may have been shaped by anger and hatred, but Jason has found his place amongst people who love him and value him. I think Ducra, from Red Hood and the Outlaws put it best in the image given below.
To end this tangent, I love Jason Todd and all of his sexy dangerousness, but it's far more than that. As much as Jason may be dangerous and snarky, he loves his family without a shadow of a doubt. I look up to Jason Todd because despite all of his pain and all of his trauma, he still choses to love. Jason Todd is a character who is someone I love because despite all of his flaws and having a very toxic fandom, he still serves as a character filled with so much heart and so much passion. I wish more writers would understand that. But for now I will live with what I have. Even though the fandom may be vocal about it's hatred for his characterization, I choose to love Jason regardless because he is a character who chooses love and acceptance regardless of his pain. Jason Todd is by no means a good person in any sense of the word. He has easily killed upwards of 100 people by now. He is a character who is flawed and complex but ultimately is one who powers forwards and finds love and heart in a place from so much pain and anguish. That is what I love about Jason Todd. After all, to quote a famous undead robot superhero, "What is grief, if not love persevering?" Jason Todd chooses to love despite all of the trauma and pain and grief. Yes, he is hardened in his exterior, but inside there is a man with a lot of love to give and someone who deserves the world in my eyes.

Hello Steph! First, thank you for everything you do for this fandom!! I don’t know what we would do without you!! ♥️ I am looking to start my first novel length Johnlock fic. I found your list, and was wondering if you had a specific one to recommend to start off with? I’m looking for something that won’t make me too sad (the world does that on its own), and of course, lots of Johnlock!! Any recommendations would be appreciated, thank you!! Sending love!! *hugs*
HI NONNY!
Hmm, this is tough, because Novel Length is anything over 50K words, but some people don’t want to read “novels that short”. So I get a lot of requests for Epic novels over 100K, so like WOOO HOO LOL.
Hmm. How about I give you a few recs varying lengths, based on your requirements, and you can decide how long you want to go, since I list all my word counts on my recs?
First off, for when you become obsessed with the lengthy fics like I am now LOL:
Novel Length Fics: 50 to 100K (Nov. 2018)
Novel Length Fics: 50 to 100K Pt 2 (May 2020)
Novel Length Fics: 100K+ w. (May 2019)
Novel Length Fics: 100K+ w. Pt 2 (Aug 2020)
Novel Length Fics: 100K+ w. Pt 3 [MFL’s] (Dec 2020)
Next, here’s something for each range between 50 and 100K+ <3
BUT BEFORE I BEGIN: honourable mention because it IS my fave fic ever, and it fits your criteria minus the length so SORRY but please check it out:
A Promise Made to Be Broken by PlantsAreNeat (E, 37,018 w., 7 Ch. || Fake Relationship, Pining, Slow Burn, RST, Eventual Relationship, POV Sherlock) – A young John makes an ‘if we’re still single at 40, we’ll get together’ pledge to a woman who ends up all wrong for him. She keeps reminding him of the promise, and won’t let go of it. John asks Sherlock to pose as his boyfriend at a family wedding, so as to dash her hopes permanently. Sherlock, who has at last acknowledged his feelings for John, reluctantly agrees despite knowing how painful it will be to ‘have’ John, but not keep him.
--------
Okay, now the main event, of more-fluff-than-angst:
NOVEL LENGTH NOT-SO-ANGSTY FICS FOR NEWBIES
Spare Change by Ermerness (E, 51,966 w., 14 Ch. || Rich Holmeses AU || First Kiss / Time, Holmes Family, Virgin Sherlock, Anal, First Meetings, Bossy Bottomlock) – The Holmes family is one of the richest and most powerful in England. Sherlock spends his time flying around the world on the family's private jet drinking a lot and shopping at expensive boutiques as a way of trying to alleviate his endless boredom. His mother decides it's time he settles down with someone powerful, wealthy and well connected. John Watson happens to be none of those things.
Guilty Secrets by Ellipsical (E, 55,086 w., 16 Ch. || Post-TRF, Drumsticks, First Kiss/Time, Love Confession, Self-Sexual-Discovery, Anal, Rimming, Orgasm Denial, Butt Plugs, Cooking, Furniture Sex, Bath Sex, Rimming, Double Penetration, Prostate Massage, Anal Beads, Dancing, Romance, Tantric Edging, Internalized Homophobia, Case as Foreplay, Anal Beads, Tickling, Dancing, Dry Coming, Romance) – John has a prostate exam and discovers something surprising about himself. Experimentation follows. Sherlock wants to help. They're in love. You know the drill.
Bridging the Ravine by SilentAuror (E, 58,887 w., 3 Ch. || Post S4, Couple For a Case, Bed-Sharing, First Times, Confessions, Awkwardness, Sex Trafficking, Massages, Wet T-Shirt Contest, Group Therapy, Past Loss of Child) – Sherlock and John go undercover at Ravine Valley, a therapy centre for same-sex male couples in an investigation into a possible human trafficking ring. As they pose as a couple and fake their way through the therapy sessions for the sake of the case, it quickly becomes difficult to avoid discussing their very real issues. Set roughly six nine months after series 4.
Perdition's Flames by i_ship_an_armada (E, 63,435 w., 21 Ch. || Treklock AU, Est. Rel, Genetic Engineering, Angst & Fluff, BAMF!John) – Sherlock would do anything to save him. Risk anything. Give anything. His money, his life. His soul. What he does, though, is change both of their destinies forever. Genetic re-engineering is the only option left. It turns out researchers underestimated the life expectancy and potential abilities of genetically re-engineered subjects. The British government and what would eventually become the United Federation of Planets, however, had not. Part 1 of PF Universe

Well, that wasn’t quite correct: Sherlock had never said a word about sex; John had bemoaned his personal dearth of it on many occasions.
Uphill by scullyseviltwin (E, 84,945 w., 18 Ch. || Olympics AU || Sherlock POV, Skier!Sherlock / Medic!John, Rivalry, 2014 Olympics, Happy Ending) – Sherlock Holmes is striving for gold in this, his fourth and final Olympics as a downhill Alpine racer.
A Study in Winning by Jupiter_Ash (E, 106,658 w., 11 Ch. || Tennis AU || John POV, Dirty Talk, Mutual Pining, Misunderstandings, Happy Ending, Sherlock Speaks French, Switchlock, Wimbledon) – John and Sherlock are professional tennis players and it’s Wimbledon. One is a broken almost was at the end of his career, the other an arrogant rising star tipped for greatness. It should have been a straightforward tournament. It really should have been. How were they to know that a chance encounter would change everything? Part 1 of Tennis
A Further Sea by i_ship_an_armada & ShinySherlock (E, 125,492 w., 23 Ch. || Historical Pirates AU || Enemies to Friends to Lovers, Doctor John / Pirate Captain Sherlock, Sailing, UST / RST, Masturbation, Action / Adventure, Mild Angst & Peril, Romance, Shaving, Molly/Janine, Bottomlock, Hand / Blow Jobs, Past Drug Use, Slow Burn, Mild Violence, Facial Shaving, Happy Ending) – Here be a tale of adventure for both body and soul, but beware if ye be not of stout heart, for this be piratelock, ya savvy? The Horse and his Doctor by khorazir (T, 129,003 w., 13 Ch. || Horse / Vet AU || Magical Realism, Horses, Vet John, Horse Sherlock, Implied Alcoholism) – Invalided after a run in with a poacher in Siberia, veterinary surgeon John Watson finds it difficult to acclimatise to the mundanity of London life. Gimme Shelter by SinceWhenDoYouCallMe_John (E, 159,368 w., 21 Ch. || PODFIC AVAILABLE || 70′s Surfer AU || Period Typical Homophobia, Hawaii, Enemies to Friends to Lovers, Professional Surfers, Gay John / Sherlock, Angst with Happy Ending, John was a Sailor, Misunderstandings, Mutual Pining) – All John Watson wants is the feeling of a freshly waxed surfboard under his feet and the hot California sun baking down onto his back. To finally go pro in the newly formed world of professional surfing and leave the dark memories of his past behind him as he rips across the face of a towering blue barrel. To lounge beside the beach bonfire every evening with an ice cold beer tucked into the cool sand beside him and listen to Pink Floyd and the Doors while the saltwater dries in his sun bleached hair. That's all he wants, that is, until the hot young phenom taking Oahu and the Hawaiian shores by storm steps up next to him in the sand in the second round of the 1976 International Surf Competition. (PUBLISHED AS ‘The Sea Ain’t Mine Alone’)
Mise en Place by azriona (M, 161,004 w., 28 Ch. || Restaurant (Kitchen Nightmares) AU || Sherlock is Gordon Ramsay / Celebrity Sherlock, Restauranteur John, Harry Plays Prominent Role, Alternating POV, Mutual Pining, Cranky Sherlock, Bed Sharing, Slow Burn) – John Watson had no intentions of taking over the family business, but when he returns from Afghanistan, battered and bruised, and discovers that his sister Harry has run their restaurant into the ground, he doesn't have much choice. There's only one thing that can save the Empire from closing for good – the celebrity star of the BBC series Restaurant Reconstructed, Chef Sherlock Holmes. Part 1 of Mise en Place

okay so is there content that you had planned for the ROs and story in general but then scrapped cause there wasn’t a good place in the story to stick it in? and if so, can you share what it was? 👀 👀 👀
yes, definitely. *rubs hands together* oh man, you done asked THE question today xD I can't wait to get into this 😁
Academics. I almost decided to have classes and grades be a minor part of gameplay, but the more time I spent designing it the more I realized I wanted nothing to do with it 😂 I haven’t really enjoyed academic gameplay in other interactive fiction because I 1) hate having to choose between studying and interacting with awesome characters, 2) have terrible short term memory, and 3) hate school in general!! So instead I just opted to have the MC be really good at school, point blank period so I could focus on social drama and relationships instead! 😆
Physical skills. I spent literal months crafting the catering scene around setting up stats for stamina/endurance, dexterity, and strength instead of just magnetism, confidence, and persuasion. They had their own backstories with the MC’s parents being overly invested sports parents instead and I think the background choices were like... martial arts, gymnastics, and track? But yeah, I ended up scrapping it all because I was spending hours on research about those individual sports so I could integrate them into the MC’s narrative organically but like... when I tried to think of what use they would be in the actual story, I came up blank. Best decision yet, esp since it means a lot less coding!
Skin tone customization. For one, I noticed that a lot of my favorite IFs don’t offer that customization and it hasn’t impacted my experience at all. For two, I originally realized I might as well not implement it since I am striving real hard not to introduce any customization that won’t actually be mentioned in interesting or meaningful ways in-story. I don’t think it’s really all that common for real life friends (esp in high school?) to comment or compliment each other’s skin and like... when it comes from someone who doesn’t share a similar complexion or ethnic background, that type of commentary gets... d i c e y. So then I wanted to be sensitive to that but what’s the pay-off? An RO mentioning how they love your skin tone once? Awkward sentences with the MC referring to their own skin color? Idk, just wasn’t vibing with it. I’m open to revisiting it in beta or something but for now it’s scrapped.
Singing, Rapping, and Gaming as Hobbies/Talents. I feel bad about scrapping these, honestly 😂 They’re great and I really wanted to incorporate them but it just came down to already having a lot of stuff to code. Plus, I know I can write the Hobbies/Talents I stuck with far better. And for Book 2 purposes, as well!
Leo. as @sourandflightypeaches asked me about a long while ago, I had to scrap an entire RO 😢 His name is Leo, he was the nephew of wealthy west African diplomats residing in Emerson, and I love him dearly! His backstory was largely based on my mother’s childhood and the circumstances she lived through after immigrating to America. and... ok, i’m about to go on one hell of a tangent so buckle up and bear with me if you can 😅
my intention with this story, aside from writing things that I personally enjoy (graphic violence, spooky woods, social drama, romance, conspiracies 😚), is to explore greed, wealth, and how the ways people and families interact with those two things influence young people and who they grow up to be. here i go sounding pretentious af 😝 and here’s where I apply a cut for those who want to preserve a little mystery to the main characters!
With Gabe, we’ve got someone who grew up with very little stability or financial security but who has found unscrupulous methods to gain status and money, with both noble and selfish motivations.
Kile has some of that childhood experience in common with Gabe, having been in the foster care system since infancy, but they lucked out when they were adopted into massive wealth by a caring, loving couple—a couple that uses their wealth and privilege to be far more lenient and protective of Kile than is actually reasonable or responsible.
Jack comes from a prestigious wealthy family on his dad’s side who he loves dearly but there’s no getting around the fact that they love him back as much as they despise his working class mom.
Jessie is a spoiled sweet heiress (being the baby of her family and the only girl) and while she lives blissfully ignorant of the harmful source and impact of her father's income and career, she bears the weight of the expectation to fulfill very traditional gender roles, including her behavior and appearance, but also extending to her career and life plans.
Rain's wealth led to them growing up sheltered and isolated but also extremely accommodated, giving them maximum freedom and opportunity to discover and develop their personal talents and interests. However, they have almost no positive relationship with their parents who have essentially decided to give up on a kid that couldn't be exactly the accessory they tried to mold them to be—both in terms of their identity and personality.
Rupan/Rohan, at their very core, rejects everything about conformity, self-importance, and excessive luxury—which means they have never, ever truly fit in with their peers. Going full non-conformist, however, has resulted in them becoming alienated from much of their family, as well, despite them all loving each other very much. Their history with false friends and betrayals has led them to over-indulge in their vices and reckless behavior to compensate for that isolation. Sometimes, they just get in over their head and many times, they know better. Every time, it's just that the feeling of finally belonging is utterly intoxicating.
Vivian/Vincent has two extremely successful parents who didn't inherit but instead built up their wealth and they aspire to be just like them, to a degree that is well and truly unhealthy. Their mother specifically is an over-achiever and applies mountainous pressure for them to follow in her footsteps, especially academically. Vi is completely capable of achieving what their mom expects of them, but they were already an extremely sensitive perfectionist so this has made them intensely critical of themself. This is a large part of why they are such a rigid, no-nonsense person and that in turn has made them one of the most disliked people among their peers—which is a huge personal failure to them since their father is a very well-liked and socially successful person in town.
And the Emersons are peak privilege: inherent high social status, brains, looks, charisma, athleticism, and massive wealth. They could never have been anything less than extremely popular, just by virtue of their last name and the nature of the town's social dynamics and politics. And they do enjoy that privilege (esp Curt lol). However, it should go without saying that being so high profile, even (or maybe especially) just in the isolated scope of your hometown, isn't always a boon. Their family's and their own perceived failings are widely discussed and privately mocked and/or celebrated. Real friends are scarce while fake ones and snakes are plentiful. Plus their dad is a gigantic dickhead who sees his kids as extensions of his own status and reputation and not much else. Public shortcomings make for an unbearable time at home and the world outside the estate is at once overly accommodating, full of assumptions, and even subtly hostile at times—all unrelated to their own actions or character.
And with the MC, I think the narrative will make it clear there are several ways that story can go. You start off with irresponsible parents that have lost their wealth due to their own mismanagement and material ambitions—how that affects any individual MC should differ based on choices and consequences!
So why bring any of that up when I was supposed to be talking about my cut OC? 😂😂
Leo was going to be the unwelcome recent addition to his uncle’s household, the son of a brother his aunt hates for (petty af) Reasons, and she took that resentment out on him directly by restricting his access to nearly every aspect of the family's wealth. Especially material goods and living conditions. He was basically treated like the help, tasked with playing nanny for his many younger cousins and burdened with doing the homework and providing academic cover for his dumb as rocks cousin in the same grade as you all. To sum it up, he was basically a victim of trafficking at the hands of his own family with his uncle out of town enough to feign ignorance to how bad his wife was treating his nephew and his aunt going out of her way to keep him busy, at home, and isolated. This is sadly a super common form of trafficking in Francophone African cultures (although I don't think most people view it as trafficking. and I’m sure the same is true of other cultures but I don’t want to speak outside of my purview). And like I mentioned above, it’s how my own mom's (and idek how many cousins') child/teenhood went.
It’s a perspective on modern wealth, privilege and greed that I really, really wanted to tell. I am confident in saying it hasn't been explored in interactive fiction yet (though correct me—and direct me 👀—if I'm wrong) and out of all the wealth/greed explorations I came up with, it's the one I have the closest personal ties to and the strongest feelings about. The characters and plans I had for it were detailed and I'm proud of them but at the end of the day... I just couldn't find a place for Leo in the story at large.
Leo was, in fact, the last main character I came up with, when I had already designed and fleshed out the larger story and started crafting the timeline of major events. I think the worst thing I could have done for a story and perspective that I care about this much is shove it into a plot that didn't have room for it at the very base level, regardless of how well the character or his story is written. Shoe-horned characters always stick out. I didn’t want to disservice Leo by having him be the character that did nothing or could be removed from the main plot without affecting it at all, y’know? That’s so much worse than just forgoing the indulgence, imo :((
ugh.... Leooooo 😭 I'm so sorry bb, I failed youuu 😥
#lovely anon#answered#hotmess#ok I am truly so sorry for going on and on like this#writing#ch design#ty for this question it was really nice to revisit this stuff 😃#and a nice reminder to not look back lol#scrapped

Devil’s Sweet Star (21)
Fandom: Dead by Daylight
Ghostface x Female Reader
Rated M for Violence, Language and Smut
***
Fear. Fear is something that has always been part of the human being. It's something that follows us everywhere and it's always the first thing you feel about the unknown. What will happen to me today, tomorrow or in the days, weeks, months to come? What future is for me? How long am I going to live? Will I find love? Is it the good one or the bad one, will it last or not? Should I do it or not? Should I say it or shut up... All these questions that we ask ourselves throughout our lives always plunges us into fear. Because we don't know what our choices will bring as consequences. The famous butterfly effect.
Fear also manifests itself in dangerous situations, where death can strike at any moment, and when it is about to strike us, fear invades us. Moreover, it is the greatest fear of Man: to die. But some are not afraid of Death: it is even a friend who comes to relieve us of our suffering once and for all. And others believe that death is a simple passage from one life to another through time. Maybe it’s true, maybe it's wrong. Who can really know?
It was with this fear in your stomach that you woke up this morning. The cause? A simple, insignificant, small, piece of paper. How can a single piece of paper scare someone; you'll tell me... Maybe because it's not that insignificant. In fact, it's not the paper that scares you, it's what's written ON IT that scares you.
“He’s dead.”
Those simple words made you react. These simple words frighten you. Because you know who wrote them, and who he's talking about. He did it. He really did. He has told you for a long time that he will. Yet inside, you feel relieved to know that McKellan won't be able to do anything to you, but that means you'll have to thank Ghostface. Once again. And if it happens like last time... You'd rather not think about it. Because the worst thing for you is that you liked it, deep down. But Jed's here now. And you know nothing can happen to you now. Right? My poor little girl... if you knew the truth... you left the door open. And the big bad wolf came home. Without knowing it, you’ve thrown yourself into the devil's arms.
While you were about to serve yourself a coffee, in order to chase away your dark ideas, someone knocked on the door. You put down your cup and you walk to the door. When you open it, you come face to face with Jed. But a Jed... quite different from usual. His Auburn hair was loose, wavy and cascading, he always wore his glasses, but his outfit was very different, a black t-shirt under an open denim shirt, grey jeans and black sneakers. But this face... and that angelic smile. It's something that will never change in him.
“Well... What happened to the real Jed last night? Have you been hit by the change fairy?” You said laughing.
“You can see it that way, yes. I thought you'd like it if... if I changed my look a little bit.” He responds laughing too.
“Just a little? I feel like you were kidnapped last night to change you or replace you with another. But... I don't mind. Because no matter what you look like... I know you'll always be you.”
You kissed him and he kiss you back, holding you in his arms. It was soft, smooth as always, a feeling that you never want to forget. Never. But Ghostface’s words brought you back to mind and made you tremble slightly. Certainly, Jed is the only one who agrees to write articles about him and that make him the "star" of Roseville. But knowing this sick man... He's capable of anything. Jed felt your concern, put an end to your kiss and recoiled his face to better observe you, passing his hand over your face to reassure you.
“Hey... What's wrong? You... Have you changed your mind?” He asks, worried.
“No! Of course not! I love you, it’s just that... He... he killed him.” you said, looking elsewhere.
“What? Who kills who?”
“Ghostface. He killed McKellan. He left me that note last night. I know it's him and it's McKellan he's talking about. He told me for a long time that he would do it... I should have told you about it or called the police or...”
“Hey hey hey... Calm down. It's going to be alright, okay? Imagine if you'd told the police about this. He would have killed you. Or torture or worse. We don't know what this psycho can do. You saved your life in some way.
“I know. But I can't help but feel guilty, the cops must know that I had a conflict with him. When they find out his body... they will come to see me and I am afraid... I'm afraid of what's going to happen.” you replied with tears in your eyes.
“Hey, I am here. And as long as I'm here no one will come near you and hurt you. I lost Carla, there's no way I'm going to lose you, is that clear? Our relationship has just begun and I intend to do everything I can this time to make it last for the rest of my life.” He said holding you close to him.
You both stand still for a few minutes without saying anything, enjoying the present moment. Nothing could ruin this moment. But one thing for you remains worrisome: the fact that you had a conflict with McKellan could put you on the suspect list. Even if Ghostface is the author, you may have problems. Maybe...
Maybe he did it on purpose? It's possible after all! Since you've known each other, he's been trying to push you to kill. He wanted to make you, his accomplice. And if, despite your categorical and repeated refusal to do so, he had taken the initiative? To drag you with him into the spiral of his massacres... And his madness.
“You don't have to worry, knowing Ghostface, he must have left a signature. He doesn't really have the kind to attribute the murder to someone else. So, there is no risk that the police will come to question you.” Replied Jed, backwards to better look at you: “I'm not working today, but I have to finish my article. I'm going to stay with you at the café, okay? And... If you ever need a helping hand, I could help you. Is that okay with you?”
“Say that way you can taste my cakes in secret .... You're going to end up with a nice round belly one day. But if you have to help me, you can bring the cakes for your colleagues. Let's go a little glutton. I'm going to end up being late.” You said, taking two boxes with cakes inside for the newspaper.
Jed smiles before kissing you and open the door. What a gentleman. All both, you're heading to Jed's van to get to work. The streets were quiet on this beautiful day and the cold weather of the last few days had disappeared. We will have to provide air conditioning otherwise the customers will melt ... and the cakes too. You were always worried about this paper but reassured by Jed's words. He is right, so far Ghostface has always signed his crimes. So, there is no reason to worry. Absolutely none. right?
“By the way, Melina... Melina told me for... You know, your family. It's really generous, you know. You... You could have kept it all to yourself. And you give up almost everything to your family. I'm sure your parents are proud of you up there.” Said Jed, breathing deeply without leave the road with your eyes.
“When...When my parents died, my uncles and aunts took care of me... I was in an emotional state... Deplorable. Even so, they've always been there for me. I owe them a lot. So, I think it's normal for me that some part of the inheritance goes back to them.” you respond looking at the road then at him.
“What are you going to do with... Your share?”
“Keep it. As much as I could. I will try to live as much as possible with the coffee money. And then maybe one day I would live in a nice little country house, far from everything. With the sound of birds and the singing of the rooster to wake me up. Or I'll take a trip around the world. I've always dreamed of going to Norway or Sweden... These countries are beautiful...”
Jed smiles while parking in the newspaper’s parking lot. It's best not to get fined. And since you have cakes to deliver... You might as well give them in your own hand, don't you? And so, you can see the newspaper's premises. No sooner do you enter the building than you freeze on the spot. Who would have thought that a small newspaper like the Roseville Gazette could have so many people? And to think that Jed is one of them! There are even security guards! It's impressive! You give them the boxes and tell them to be careful that no cakes end up crushed. Then all two go back and open the café. It's time. Jed settled down at the table next to the counter. The start of the day went very well, customers were always flocking as delighted to come to see you. The lunch break came and you sit at Jed's table, slightly exhausted.
“Maybe you should hire someone to help you. You're going to get sick by putting so much pressure on yourself.” Said Jed smiling.
“I thought about it... but not yet. I want to be financially sure I can pay a salary. Are you getting away with your article?” you ask.
“Yes. Mike was such a rotten man. A drug dealer and a pedophile on top of the market. Apparently, he was wanted in other states for these facts. But he always managed to evade the police. Unfortunately for him he did not escape death. Even my boss is disgusted to know that he had such a criminal in his employees.” He answers.
“No one could have known... There are true masters of concealment. We think they're honest people and then one day they reveal their real faces. And on that day, it's already too late to do anything.” You replied sadly.
“That’s true. You know, I've been very concerned about how Ghostface works... Since I've been writing these articles, I've noticed two or three little things about how he operates. He went after people who... always do something wrong. Since he started these murders... all of his victims either committed robberies, assaults, or trafficked drugs.”
“It’s to believe that he wants to pretend to be a hero.”
“Or he gets rid of the competition. This guy's a narcissist. He doesn't seem to like being robbed of the limelight. If he gets rid of those who want to steal the show... Then he'll be the only criminal in all of Roseville and I'm sure he's not going to stop there. He'll go all over the country.” Said Jed, replacing his glasses on his nose.
“He wants to be the biggest criminal in the whole country. The question is... Why?” you said confused.
The break ends and you get back to work quickly. Jed is right about one thing: one day you will have to hire someone. You won't be able to hold the coffee forever on your own, and if you're ever thinking about expanding it, you'll need employees. During the afternoon, you receive a phone call from the police that made you panic. Have they found McKellan’s body? Do they already want to question you??
None of that. The policeman on the other end of the line simply summons you to have your statement in relation to your attacker. You almost forgot that one. You say that you would be available tomorrow during the day because you’re not working. To which he replied that everything was written down and that he would be waiting for you tomorrow in his office. You sigh with relief when you hang up the phone before explaining everything to Jed, who laughs slightly shaking his head.
The rest of the afternoon went very well, and the time of closing arrived. After your usual little ritual, you and Jed go to eat something. For the first time a good burger and fries will be your meal tonight. After that, you head to your home. You greet Mr. Lawson, and go up to your apartments. But instead of leaving you, Jed kissed you while making you enter his house.
“What are you doing?” You said laughing.
“I don't want to sleep alone tonight. So, I'm kidnapping you.” He said before kissing you again, lifting you by the waist, making you let go of a little squeak of surprise.
“Well, what a force...”
“And you haven't seen anything yet.” He replied, heading to his bedroom.
He laid you down on his bed gently before putting himself above you. He removed his t-shirt, revealing his finely trimmed body, and with his wavy, cascading hair... he looks like a god. He kissed you again, began to slide his hands over your body, making you shudder slightly. But this time, it's a shudder of pleasure. He kissed every part of your body from head to stomach, then gently removed your top. He pushed his hair with a wave of his hand, revealing blue eyes piercing to fall out.
“It's... Maybe it's a little too soon. You may need a little time.” He said with a little smile.
“I... I’m sorry, I didn't want to...” you said worried by his reaction.
“It’s okay. I'll wait until you're ready. But on the other hand, that day ... I can't guarantee I'll control myself.”
“I can't wait to see that then.” you replied by getting up before being lying down again by Jed.
“I said I didn't want to sleep alone tonight.”
“I don't even have pyjamas for tonight!” you said laughing.
“Never mind... I'll lend you one.”
He put on a quick kiss before getting up and throwing a pyjama at you to change you. He undressed, wearing only his boxer before bed. Once changed, you join him in bed and you settle in his arms, passing your hand in his hair. You kiss one last time to wish you good night and fall asleep both. In his arms, all your fears fly away. All your worries disappear.
Nothing can happen to you.
Nothing scares you.
Not even Ghostface.
***
(I'm officially passing my code exam on April 9th! I can't wait! and I'm a little scared too XD But I've got a week to review so I should be fine! So, since we are confined for a month in France, the chapters will come out as planned, since I no longer go on vacation ... I hope you enjoy this chapter as much as the others! Good weekend to all! See ya!)

Okay, maybe it’s my knowledge of history, maybe it’s the fact I did studies years ago into human trafficking where similar instances happened, maybe it’s knowing people in my family’s countries have had to do similar things throughout history, maybe it’s the fact I remember my lit tutor saying ‘how a person reacts to a fictional character’s plight is revealing of how they would behave in reality’, but I am getting so fed up of people condemning Lilith for what happened to Adam, or worse, mocking and belittling it like ‘omg she straight up murdered her kid lmao wtf’ which was actually a real comment I just fucking deleted off a GIF set I made. See, this is why I’m seeing these idiots, because they feel the need to comment on a GIF they’re NOT EVEN REBLOGGING. But whatever, I digress. My point of this post is:
LILITH DID NOT MURDER ADAM. SHE DID NOT KILL HIM IN PETTY REVENGE. SHE DID A HEARTBREAKING THING THAT MADE HER WANT TO DIE WHEN IT WAS DONE IN ORDER TO SAVE HIM FROM THE HORRENDOUS CRUELTY AND ABUSE SHE HAD SUFFERED FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS. And this is without the added consideration that the trauma of such a painful, unnatural birth and post-natal exhaustion and other hormone/chemical issues would have effected decision making and problem processing.
Okay, so listen; mothers killing their children to spare them from horrors is not an invented concept. It is horrendously true and has happened throughout history. Primarily, to stop their children being taken into slavery, being raped by invaders, saved from sex rings or taken for whatever miscellaneous yet horrendous situation they’re in, which has included abusive fathers. I am speaking as someone who is Irish, where Cromwell swept the land throwing children into slavery (my great-great-so-on Uncle was a child who was taken, but he survived, and we have relatives out in the Caribbean due to this, which is also how a great-great.great-grandparent met his wife. But again, I digress) and knows there were instances where those, unable to hide their children, killed them rather than submit them to the absolute horrors Cromwell’s men were inflicting (they raped a lot of women, murdered the men, raped and/or stole the children. Whole villages were decimated) and as someone with Mexican grandparents and knows how ancestors were treated so violently and cruelly by invaders that killing children to spare them was by no means an uncommon reaction (and an entirely understandable one).
The most famous incident of this happening, possibly because she was already a slave and therefore considered ‘property’ rather than an unnamed native person being dragged from their home, and it was recent enough for official news reports, was Margaret Garner. She was a runaway slave, and, when surrounded by slavers to take her back, she cut the throat of her 2 year old daughter, and planned to kill her other three children and then herself, but the slavers got to her first. They then told her she was property and not a mother at all, and they weren’t her children, but the slaver’s property and therefore she’d damaged property. The horror of that story is undeniable and Margaret’s actions undeniably understandable and cry for sympathy and empathy....and YET, there are still people who condemn her today. Really. So it shouldn’t surprise me there are people condemning a woman in a fictional story too.
More recently, there have been cases/stories coming forward of human trafficking victims, getting pregnant through no fault of their own, and, knowing the child would be trafficked too, have smothered them in their sleep before they could be taken.
Lilith is an abuse victim. Severely abused. She is treated as a slave, Lucifer even says ‘you belong to me and only me’ considering her to be his property, ‘Lilith knows her place; to serve’, ‘there is no escape to Tibet or anywhere else’. Lilith, really, in part 1 and half of part 2 has fucking Stockholm Syndrome; she has no reason to be loyal to Lucifer, we see how afraid she is of him, yet she sticks by him and is grateful for the scraps of approval he gives her. She has suffered so much abuse for thousands of years and lived through it that she had been entirely mentally conditioned by it. It took a huge amount of inner strength, and developing relationships with others (namely Sabrina and Adam 2.0, but also the likes of Theo Putnam, Mrs Meeks) for her to break free of that mindset.
But Lucifer is her abuser. There are countless instances of where we see her absolute terror; look how she begs for mercy after Sabrina’s failed Dark Baptism, how she flinches and covers her face when he comes near her, think of the terror in her eyes when he says ‘and you know what I’m like when I’m bored’, think of her sickening fear in part 3 when she realises the Dark Lord is free, how full of panic and fear she is trying to find out where he’s hiding, of how she desperately tries to hide at fucking Mary’s to get away from him, how she’s dragged out by her hair, think of the fear she has on her face when she chooses to face him and watch the horror on her face as she realises what he’ll do to Adam, and look at the fear and broken spirit of her when she realises she can’t stop him.
Lucifer has abused Lilith for millennia and convinced her that it was love that he was ‘lifting her up’ and ‘making her worthy’, classic abuser language. He even used her own freaking familiar against her. She was treated as property, treated however he chose in that particular moment, and by her own claim she’s done ‘unspeakable things’ to help him, believing she loved him. THOUSANDS of years of abuse and she’s only recently broken free of that, before she’s forced back into his arms, metaphorically-speaking. She is now, however, aware it’s abuse, and she knows what she’s suffered, and how cruel he is, and how he made her into something else, how he used that abuse and cruelty to mould her into what he wanted (think how differently she behaves when she’s his ‘loyal servant’ to how she behaves when she’s free from him and independent. We see a very different Lilith). She knows what Adam will suffer, because she’s suffered it herself. When Lucifer says he’ll suckle on a hell hound and ‘toughen him up and all that’, the expression on Lilith’s face is heartbreaking; she knows exactly what he means by toughen him up. It’s the same as ‘make you worthy’. And the thought of her son going through everything she went through, and then constantly having to fight for his life, fighting against Caliban or Caliban’s children, suffering everything Lilith has, but never having known anything else, never having anyone who loves him truly, no one who could help him escape...it fills Lilith with fear.
And, she’s seen the Dark Lord get his way over and over again. She’s seen how even Sabrina accepts him as her Father now. She knows the Aunts offered to protect her, but even Hilda is only suggesting they leave, like they can’t actually physically fight him, only do their best to keep Lilith safe. And Lilith knows he’ll find her eventually; her experiences and her severe abuse mean she sees it as inevitable, because she’s ‘learned’ it’s inevitable. Lilith cannot see a possible way to keep baby Adam safe. She knows the only way she can protect him from the Dark Lord is to kill him, and destroy the body (or devour the body, however you wish to interpret the bloody scene) so he can’t resurrect him after he’s killed her. Because, yes, Lilith intends to die. Like Margaret Garner, her plan was to die WITH her child, but she was stopped. Lucifer knew that was her intent, that that was what she wanted (she does openly beg him to kill her) and that is exactly why he makes her immortal, so she can never be with her son, but by cursing her with humanity-- to age and rot etc-- he’s making sure she will only get weaker and not have the power to get back her son by any means.
Lilith continues to try to join her son throughout the next episode, to the point of getting a hold of the only blade that can kill an immortal, and it’s only when Marie gives her her son’s spirit, placing it in something solid, meaning-- with magic-- Lilith does have a chance to bring her son back, that instead of wanting to die, she decides to destroy Lucifer instead, as she has nothing to lose. Either, she destroys Lucifer and takes all her power back and gets her son back, or she fails and she dies. She essentially becomes a woman with nothing to lose, and they’re the most dangerous people, because there’s nothing to make them hesitate. As Lucifer learned in a very hard way.
#this was essentially a frustrated rant#but it's also#random thoughts#observations#and#headcanons#it's all the things#i don't normally do tw but this is quite in depth so#tw suicide#tw abuse#tw rape

Rescuing the Main Attraction
I’m late to the party. @flashfictionfridayofficial
Warnings for human trafficking and some form of mind control.
WC: 1687
......................
Underground was starting to get alarmed by the amount of shady circuses he’d disbanded due to human trafficking or slavery. Not only were there an unholy amount of circuses doing that sort of thing, they were all creepy. He already had a list of excuses he was going to use if anyone tried to ask him, as Silas and not as Underground, to go to a circus with them. Not that he actually socialized with anyone other than active or retired heroes who would also be avoiding circuses for whatever their own personal reasons might be.
Underground hung out near the back, his mask off and his hood on. He hoped no one would recognize him as Silas. Then again, if they did, he would just be a retired hero here enjoying his retired hero pay. No one would really imagine that he had retired only to hide the fact that he was becoming a different hero. Well, except for the conspiracy theorist college students living on coffee, ramen, and the last dredges of their childhood dreams. But he wasn’t too worried about running into any of them here. There was quite the expensive entrance fee to pay to get in.
Underground waited, watching the real performances of trapeze artists and lion tamers. He winced at the obvious animal abuse and muttered to Foxfire, who was wrapped around his chest under the hoodie he was wearing, to send a message to a hero who specialized in animal abuse cases.
The acts were still beautiful and choreographed perfectly, but something felt off in the background. The dancers smiled, but their faces seemed like masks rather than flesh. The animals called out, but their screams were made of tin. The ringmaster laughed, but no sound left his mouth. Or so it seemed.
Foxfire burbled as she did as he asked. Underground went back to waiting for the main attraction. It took much too long to come. He nervously picked at his fingernails as the minutes ticked past slowly, his gloves tucked in his pockets. The biggest performance was heralded by music and dimmed lights. Underground straightened, tugging his gloves back on and staring down at the ring. The ringmaster addressed the crowd, seeming to whisper into the darkness to make everyone really quiet down and listen.
“Ladies and Gents,” the man said conspiratorially, though there was no emotion in his eyes.
Silas took that as his signal to slide his mask onto his face. It sealed there comfortably and he watched through the one way material, ignoring the calculations and other things Foxfire was running on the inside.
“We thank you for coming to our tents today,” the ringmaster continued, his cape swishing as he stood up straight, poised like a snake about to strike. “Now we come to the main attraction, as we always must. Please keep as silent as you can during this part, loves. For the most enjoyment.
“There was a race of people, they say,” the man continued, the lights changing to rainforest hues, “That could curse or bless, bewitch or enchant, amuse or horrify. All with just a vibration in their throats. Just one song and you would have to trust that they wouldn’t steal from you, or kill you. Of course, they were hated, hunted, and silenced. Now, there are precious few left. I have here, among my little family, a descendant of that race. And, as always, she has agreed to sing for you.”
Shrouds of gaudy fabric fell from where they had been obscuring the center, showing a woman in a bird like cage. She was dressed in a feathery outfit, draped across lush pillows. She was a beauty, though, she seemed even more off than the other performers.
Foxfire enhanced the view and Underground could pick out the fear in her eyes and the bags under them. There was a metal cuff connecting her to the bottom of the cage, carefully hidden with feathers and decoration.
The rest of the victims were brought out. There would be others besides these three. All of them were dark haired beauties. The woman in the cage started to sing. The three beauties started dancing as if they were being forced to, performing moves altogether too in sync. This was a secret part of the human market. The most beautiful ‘exotic’ women were gathered and sold through this circus. Three at every performance. Underground could see the Ringmaster watching the crowd, communicating with potential buyers through signals and looks. Underground sneered from underneath his mask. He was all too happy to clean this all up. But first.
Underground slipped from the tent and prowled among the others. The performers ignored him, most thinking he was one of them due to his grey mask with blue stripes. He started getting looks as he neared the tent he was looking for. He walked up to the two guards of this tent, nodded silently, and knocked them out with perfect jabs to their necks, pressure points pressed with a bit of help from his slight electro manipulation powers.
He stepped into the tent. It was dark, but Foxfire fixed that by letting a piece of herself roll out from under the hoodie and glow in the dark. There were a set of cages and Underground saw four more ladies in kennels not even fit for dogs.
“I’m here to get you out,” Underground said softly and warmly to the women, who were understandably afraid. He crouched and undid the locks, quickly opening the cages. He helped the last one out and looked around to all four of them.
“Are you all okay to walk?” he asked, concern in his voice.
The oldest one, a woman of about 21, nodded. He nodded and pulled masks and cloaks out of his bag. “Put these on, they should keep the performers from noticing us.”
“How do we know if we can trust you?” asked the woman with hard eyes.
Underground nodded. “I’m a hero, though that is never a true proof of trust. I want to protect you and get you to safety.”
“Would you die to complete it?”
Underground paused. This was indeed a question.
“That is hard,” he sighed. “To die would be noble, but if I am dead then I will not be able to protect other women like you and rescue them as well. So, how about I get you out without any of us getting dead or captured.”
The women seemed a bit surprised by this answer. They looked at each other and nodded.
“We will go with you.”
With the costumes donned, Underground rushed them through the tents again. The performers didn’t seem to care. They all seemed tired and sick in a way that Underground couldn’t put his finger on. Sort of.. Apathetic.
“There are friends waiting for you there,” Underground whispered to them as they came to the top of the rise on the edge of the circus. “They’ll be in cop cars and will be able to show you their badges. I have to go back for the others.”
As Underground turned, one of the women grabbed his arm. “Please save the bird woman. She is being forced to do those horrible things,” she said, fear in her voice.
Underground nodded as solemnly as he could. “I was planning on it. Just.. be very careful.”
The women silently nodded and were off to the roads that Underground had pointed to. He took a soft breath and turned to go back to the tent. He checked his watch. The performance was quite a long one to account for the sales of women, but he was cutting it quite close now. He threw off the hoodie and stormed in, Foxfire proudly displayed as a stripe on his chest, taking the steps down and counting out guards armed with guns hiding in the shadows. The ringmaster was so caught up in the sales, he didn’t notice the infuriated hero until Underground decked him across the face.
…………………………
Underground leaned to help the bird woman up. He hissed slightly at the bullet wound in his shoulder, but that would heal. She took his hand and stood unsteadily. She looked around wonderingly at the unconscious guards and empty seats. The place had cleared out pretty fast after the first guns fired. The police outside made quite the racket as they captured known criminals, though there were too many people to grab them all. The only people left were the unconscious ring master and guards. The three dancers had already been gone with the police.
“Let’s get you out of here,” Underground said, helping her down respectfully.
She clung to him, her legs weak and wobbly. She probably didn’t get to spend much time walking. “Saved,” she muttered. “Saved. Saved.”
Underground nodded. At the entrance of the tent a police officer was waiting with a shock blanket, which Underground took and wrapped around the bird woman. She thanked him softly as the police officer offered the woman her arm.
The victim took her arm and walked off into the crowds of officers, careful of where she put her feet.
Underground leaned on a support, almost exactly where he’d been standing before the whole rescue. He was tired and disgusted, but glad he’d managed to get all the victims out. Still. There were many other people that needed his help and he knew that, despite the abundance of heroes, they wouldn’t get to them all. He watched the police slap handcuffs on the unconscious men in the ring for a moment before pushing off the support and slipping out to go home for the night. He’d have a report to finish for the police and have a quick check in with his medic before he could go to sleep, and goodness knows, he was weary.
“We did it,” a soft voice said in his head.
He smiled and rubbed his fingers over Foxfire’s cool surface. “That we did. Thank you.”
“No, thank you, Silas. You made my dream a reality.”
Silas smiled. “We made the dream a reality.”

Silent Words - Chapter 2
Warnings: cursing, death, angst.
Word count: 1890 words
A/N: hi guys! Here’s another chapter, my fingers were itching to write and post a new chapter despite having posted yesterday. Please tell me what you thought of this chapter and if you have any feedback, don’t hesitate to tell me!!
She had been waiting for two days before she got the message to come pick up her father’s will. As soon as she got the message, she went to her father’s lawyer to pick it up. She arrived at the building he worked at, parked her car and walked straight to where she could always find him; his office.
She knocked four times. “Come in.” She heard him say. She went in and closed the door behind her, she didn’t want any other people up in her business. “Hello, uncle Jacques.” She said. “I’m here to pick up my father’s will.” He looked at her and gave her a tired smile. “Come sit, my dear. Would you like a drink?” He asked while pointing to a comfortable looking leather chair. She went to sit down. “Just a glass of water please.” She was in no mood to be drinking, she had to stay focused. He handed her a glass of water and she quietly thanked him before she took a sip. He placed an envelope the size of a paper on his table. “Here’s your father’s will. Would you like me to read it out loud, like in the movies? Or would you prefer to take it home and read it on your own?” She smiled at the joke about the movies. She and uncle Jacques used to watch loads of classics together when she was younger whenever her father was absent for some business. “I’d rather take it home and read it on my own if you don’t mind.” She said, smile still on her face. “Of course, my dear. How are you holding up?” He asked, concern visible in his eyes. She sighed. “Still processing I suppose. He passed way too soon. But he’s with Sarah and Mom now, making up for lost time. I can’t wait to join them, we will be complete at last.” Her smile faltered. “Don’t say that, Y/N. You have so much to live for, even if it seems like that might not be the case at this very moment; you really do. You were born to fulfill great things, you’re a Roux after all. Don’t let yourself go to waste.” He said firmly. This man was always good at telling her off when she was messed up. She exhaled firmly, straightening her back. “You’re right, I’m sorry. Got a little bit too caught up in grief.” She said apologetically. “Don’t worry about it.” He said as he handed her the will, waiting for her to take it. This time, she took it without hesitation. She got up. “Thank you, uncle Jacques.” She took a good look at the man, she was thankful for him. “Stay safe and good luck. And you know it, if you need anything-” “I know how to find you.” With a nod, she walked out of the building and back to her car.
Y/N decided to have breakfast at her favorite place instead of going home. She didn’t really leave the house after her father’s passing, so she felt like she deserved to treat herself. She parked her car, grabbed the envelope and entered the small café. She smiled and kindly nodded to the waitress behind the counter and took place at the window booth in the corner of the place. “Hello darling, long time no see. You have grown into such a beautiful woman. How are you?” The elder French lady who came to take her order cupped her check, and she couldn’t help but giggle. “Hello Judith, I’ve missed you. I’m doing good, how about you?” Y/N replied. “Oh, you know darling, the usual. I’m not getting any younger.” Judith said jokingly. “But you are getting more beautiful, look at you glowing!” Y/N said, still smiling. “Oh stop it, you little charming lady! I’ll have your usual for you in a bit.” Judith giggled and blushed. “Thank you, Judith.” She looked at the woman as she walked away. This has been Y/N’s favorite spot since she was 14.
One day, when she was walking home from school, she stumbled across this place. She decided to go in since it looked very cosy, and she was pretty cold. “Hello dear, take a seat wherever you’d like. I’ll be with you shortly.” The middle-aged woman said. She decided to sit in the window booth in the corner of the place. She texted her father, saying she’d be home later. Then she heard a man yelling. She quickly turned to the sound and saw a man in his thirties yelling at the kind woman. Before she realized it, her legs transported her to the counter where the man stood. He was yelling about a wrong coffee order. She saw the woman flinch. “HEY! Why don’t you take your coffee and shove it up your ass? Were you not taught any manners?” It was a funny sight, a fourteen-year-old yelling at a man in his thirties. “You little shit, don’t you know who I am? You’re in so much trouble. What’s your name?” He sneered, taking a step towards her. “I don’t know who you are, and quite frankly, I don’t give a fuck either. You’re talking to a Roux. Now get out of here before I show you real trouble.” She yelled. He visibly tensed when hearing her last name. He scrambled his belongings together and quickly took off. “I’m so sorry for his behavior, are you okay?” She took a step towards the shaken up woman. “Thank you dear, but you really didn’t have to do that.” The woman said, still lightly shaken up. “Don’t worry miss, he won’t be a bother anymore.” Y/N said and went back to her spot. A few moments later, the woman came up to her with a slice of cake and steaming cup of tea. “Oh, I didn’t order that miss. I think you have the wrong table.” She told the woman and smiled. “No dear, this one is on the house. I wanted to thank you for standing up for me. You can call me Judith.” The woman put the slice and cup down and put out her hand. “I’m Y/N.” She shook the woman’s hand.
“Here you go sweetheart, enjoy.” Judith put down the order and sat down across of her. She took the young woman’s hand and smiled apologetically. Y/N looked at the envelope and sighed. “I heard about your father, I’m sorry darling. He was a great man.” Then she looked up confused. “You knew my father?” She did not expect that. Judith smiled. “How couldn’t I? That day you stood up to that man, you granted me protection in the name of the Rouxes. I offered my compliance to your father to express my gratitude.” Judith giggled again. Y/N’s mouth fell open, wide eyes looking at the elderly and innocent looking woman who just confessed she worked for a notorious weapon dealer. “Judith! You worked for my father?” She started laughing out of shock and disbelief. “Yes, I did. He was a polite young man and very generous too.“ Judith smiled, remembering him. “I’ll leave you to your business now.” Judith nodded to the envelope, got up and cupped Y/N’s cheek once again before going back to the counter. She finished her slice of cake and looked at the envelope. She opened it, took the paper out and started reading.
I, Nour Roux, an adult residing at 41 Place de la Madeleine in Paris, being of sound mind, declare this to be my last will and testament. I hereby revoke, annul and cancel all wills and codicils previously made by me, either jointly or severally. This last will expresses my wishes without undue influence or duress. I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint Jacques Fontaine as Executor. If this Executor is unable or unwilling to serve, then I appoint Judith Marie Boucher as alternate Executor.
Y/N smiled, looking up at Judith who was busy preparing an order. Then, she continued reading.
I hereby declare that I give to Y/N Roux absolutely all real and personal property whatsoever and wheresoever.
She then scanned the text to see that it was about uncle Jacques executing posthumous financial matters for her father and lastly some autographs of her father and some witnesses making the will valid. Then, she turned the paper around and took a look at the first silent wish.
To my daughter, Y/N Roux, I request she grants some simple familial wishes.
My first wish is that I want you to visit Elias Van Dyck sometimes and give him a serious headache for me. I can’t let him forget about me.
She smiled, thinking about the time her dad taught her this silent word.
“I have a serious headache, as if someone shot me through the head” He said, sitting next to her in the dentist waiting area, without breaking eye contact. A way to let Y/N know that what he just said was very important. And she was taught to always remember her dad’s important things. So she nodded four times, to let her father know she understood.
It’s time to fulfill Dad’s wishes. She thought. She finished her tea, walked up to the counter and paid for her order. “Good luck, Y/N. Don’t be a stranger, okay?” Judith smiled sweetly. With a nod and a smile, Y/N exited the café and got into her car. She went home and dived into her father’s office, looking for any information about this Elias Van Dyck. She found out that he was the owner of several clubs and also part of a human trafficking ring. Being unsatisfied with the amount of information she found, Y/N took to her laptop and searched up his name. Several articles about his clubs came up. Then, an article about him that addressed his fatal heart attack. Confused, she put her laptop away. How do I kill a man that’s already dead? She thought. Unless he died after Dad wrote his will. She looked at the article which revealed the date in which he died. March 13th 2017. She frowned. She thought that her father’s will was signed in 2018. She checked, it was indeed signed a year after Elias’ death. She inhaled sharply and dialed Jacques’ number. The phone rang. “Hello?” She heard his voice say. “Hi uncle Jacques. Could you help me out please?” She said. “Of course dear, what do you need help with?” He replied. “I need information on a guy named Elias Van Dyck. Could you tell me something about him?” She asked him. “One second.” She heard him put the phone down and then some rustling in the background. “Elias Van Dyck, born in Antwerp, Belgium on July 14th 1971, died in Vienna in March 13th 2017. Club owner, human trafficker. Do you need more information?” He said. She sighed. “No, that is all. Thank you very much uncle Jacques.” She replied. “No problem dear.” To which he hung up. Putting her phone next to her on her bed she looked around, feeling hopeless. It didn’t make sense that he had died a year before her father had signed his will. Her gut feeling told her that something was wrong. And if uncle Jacques couldn’t help her, then no one really could.
Except for him.
Reluctantly, she got up to collect her stuff. She grabbed her handbag and put in her belongings. She then grabbed a duffel bag and filled it with clothes.
She didn’t want to see him, but if she wanted to make her father proud, she would need his help.

So, about the movie...
At long last, a week after it came out, I was finally able to see the Sonic movie. The Daytona 500 being held across the street from my favorite theater and conflicting work schedules had been keeping me away, but now I’ve finally seen it. And it was...
Decent!
Which is way, way, way, way, way better than a movie with this awful premise has any right being. That’s for damn sure. I enjoyed my time at the theater. I don’t know how they did it, but they did it. If you like Sonic and haven’t already seen it, you will probably get a kick out of this film. If you don’t like Sonic (or Jim Carrey), there is very little in this movie for you
Okay, now that that’s out of the way, it’s time to break that whole movie down. This will contain full spoilers for the Sonic movie
This movie kinda gave me deja vu because it’s set up so similarly to the Bumblebee movie. Both open with a slavishly faithful CGI sequence on another planet to ensure long time fans that the creative team gives a shit, but a conflict sends the title character to Earth. There, they form an emotional bond with the human lead as they’re pursued by the bad guys, who are working with the US government and tracking the energy signature of the title character. This setup worked extremely well for Bumblebee, because it’s so similar to the usual plot of Transformers. For Sonic, it was... a mixed bag. But it worked better than I expected
(This shot does not happen in the movie.)
That opening though, huh? Green Hill Zone looked great, and I was pleasantly surprised to see they did, in fact, use the Hyper Potions track from Sonic Mania in the actual film. (The piano rendition of the Green Hill theme used later was also lovely.) Longclaw was also interesting. I’ve seen one person bring up all the bird-themed ruins in Sonic 1 and 2 as a possible source of inspiration for the character, and I think that’s a valid take. And man, the echidnas! I wasn’t expecting that AT ALL. I guess that was probably the Knuckles Clan or something? I would never, ever picture them being alive during Sonic’s lifetime, but like... I guess Knuckles had to come from somewhere, right? If they do another movie with Knuckles, will the rest of his kind have died out?
Sadly, though, this sequence felt like it was over in a heartbeat. We barely see Sonic’s life on his home planet, and we’re expected to feel emotional over Longclaw’s sacrifice when she only gets like three lines before Sonic is sent to Earth. This is a common theme with the film--it goes for these big emotional beats that it just does not earn with its rapid fire pacing
Anyway, then we fast forward and Sonic’s a teen. This is actually kind of an interesting one if you’re constantly neck deep in Sonic Character Analysis like me, because it’s a pretty different take on the character. It’s hard to give them credit for doing something somewhat fresh with the character, though, because like... how much of that was intentional, and how much was just Hollywood writers trying to squeeze a generic action-adventure movie out of Sonic? (Honestly, it’s probably mostly the latter.)
The closest other piece of Sonic media to the movie would probably be Sonic X, a story in which Sonic isn’t really the protagonist. The Sonic of the anime is fairly emotionally distant. He cares deeply about his friends, and does nice things for them, but he’s totally fine with running off on his own for extended lengths of time, and he doesn’t really talk about his feelings. He’s not the character the audience is meant to sympathize with, but is instead this cool older kid who Chris wants to impress. This is pretty much in line with how Sega likes to depict the character. He cares about his friends, but he’s also cool with being a loner. It feels like he only runs into them incidentally, usually when Eggman is causing trouble, and then when the crisis of the week is taken care of he’s back to going on his own adventures. There’s a reason why one of his catchphrases is “long time no see”
The Sonic of the movie is the polar opposite. His main conflict is that he’s lonely and desperately seeks friendship. He’s also an overly-eager, extremely earnest goober. He literally flosses twice. (Which I loved.) I’ve seen him compared to Silver, and honestly, that’s not a bad comparison. I did like it, though! I don’t mind Sonic being a more emotionally open character, like he was in a lot of older Western media. I mean, he cried in like the second or third episode of SatAM
It’s just that, like many things in the movie, it feels less like a deliberate creative choice and more like a logical string of decisions to make when writing a generic action-adventure film for general audiences. Sonic’s the only one of his kind on Earth, so of course he’d be lonely. He has to have some sort of arc for audiences to connect with him, and if he’s gotta be accompanied by James Marsden for the whole movie, well, his arc’s gotta be about them becoming friends
I’ve gotta say, though: Ben Schwartz is great as Sonic. As much as I like Roger Craig Smith, I wouldn’t complain if he became the new main voice of the character. And thanks to the redesign, he looked great. I can’t imagine how nightmarish this movie would’ve been if Sonic wasn’t cute
My main fear with this movie, though, was that Sonic wouldn’t really be the protagonist. As a fan of Transformers, I know all too well that the cost of doing a full CGI character usually means that said character can’t really be the star of the film. Optimus and Bumblebee aren’t the stars of the Transformers movies--they’re supporting characters who are primarily present for the sake of the action scenes. The humans are the real stars in those movies, and the robots are barely even characters. I was terrified that Sonic would be the same, with the actual character I paid to see taking a backseat to James Marsden The Cop
I’m not quite sure if they struck the right balance there, but they did better than I worried they would. Sonic is central enough to the film and gets enough screentime that you can easily say he’s the protagonist. BUT there is absolutely too much of Tom and his family. The human cast is fine, the performances are fine, and there were a few good jokes, but every time the movie tried to get me to care about Tom’s life I was bored out of my mind. It’s just so trite and passionless. The other characters barely felt fleshed out at all, including Tom’s girlfriend (wife?) and Agent Stone. The little girl who gives Sonic the shoes had some cute moments, though
I do, however, love the part in which James Marsden is walking around in a San Francisco t-shirt, to remind us that he’s planning on moving to San Francisco... which then becomes the excuse for Sonic to think about San Francisco and accidentally send his warp rings there, which becomes the excuse for the buddy road trip aspect of the film. And as much as that was a focus of the marketing, the actual road trip part is like... maybe 20 minutes of the movie? There’s like three scenes with Sonic and Tom on the road and then they’re in San Francisco for act 3. The movie tries to act like they’ve formed this deep bond and I just did not give a shit. I don’t care about the cop. All Cops Are Bastards, and that absolutely includes Tom, whose dream in life is to join the extremely corrupt San Francisco PD
The whole excuse for Sonic having to sit in the passenger seat of a car going the speed limit for a good chunk of the movie is also, just. Stupid. If he doesn’t know where San Francisco is and time is of the essence, just... give him a map?
And then there’s Jim Carrey. I was worried about this one. The previews tended to highlight his most Jim Carrey Being Wacky moments, and as fond as I am of movies like The Truman Show and Bruce Almighty, that’s just. That’s not Robotnik. I was pleasantly surprised by the actual movie, though! I thought he was pretty good. I’m not sure what incarnation of Eggman I’d most compare him to, but like... it was close enough, and he was entertaining enough. I’d pay to go see another movie with him as Robotnik. Sure. (Especially with how he was looking at the end of the film.)
There were some other little interesting tidbits here with Eggman, although again, a lot of that is less “let’s do a new take on Eggman” and more “let’s do a marketable movie with Eggman in it, which requires us to explain some stuff.” Like him straight up just being a normal human from Earth, with none of the confusion present in the current “two worlds” canon of the games. Or him apparently being an orphan who was bullied in school, and who trusts machines more than other humans. It’s a safe way to depict the character in a Hollywood movie, but I thought it worked
The way they got to his nickname was kind of funny, though. Like, obviously they didn’t put Jim Carrey in a fat suit, and thank god for that. So instead of mocking his weight, the nickname is derived from the egg-shaped robots he uses. Which made sense, I guess. It at least felt logical for this incarnation of Sonic, who had annoyingly been calling Tom “Donut Lord” the whole movie, to make up the nickname “Eggman.” (Said robots, by the way, were a weak point of the movie to me. They just didn’t have that Eggman whimsy and felt very safe and very Hollywood. Honestly, though, if they had just made Robotnik’s ship grey and slapped some hazard stripes on it, it’d probably be fine.)
As a whole, I thought the humor of the movie was... okay. Sonic had a lot of good moments thanks to Schwartz’s great performance, as did Robotnik. There were just so many weird lines, like James Marsden telling Robotnik that he was breast fed, or the agonizingly long child trafficking joke with Sonic in the duffel bag. Stuff like that
The action was great, though. They definitely owe a lot to the Quicksilver scene in that one X-men movie (I forget the one), but they had a lot of fun with Sonic’s powers and it felt extremely true to the character. Seeing him do one of his Smash poses during the San Francisco fight was great. The action scenes were an absolute delight
And then the ending. Oh, that ending
So, I had already heard that Tails shows up in the stinger before I saw the film. And when I heard that, I expected it to be like, the classic Tails origin story. Maybe Sonic would return to his planet, and run into this precocious kid who decides to follow him around... but no! Not at all! Tails is already the Tails we know and love. He’s already an inventor, he’s already tracking down Sonic. I’m shocked that Sonic actually stayed with Tom instead of running off to have new adventures, but hopefully this is a sign that more characters will be brought into the fray if they make a sequel
And boy, they better make that damn sequel. This movie had a great opening weekend and a positive reception. They have no excuse not to. GIVE US SONIC AND TAILS GOING ON AN ADVENTURE
Other stray thoughts
Holy shit they put Sanic in the movie
The Sega logo animation meant that Kiryu from Yakuza was in this movie for a few seconds
The pixel art credits sequence, which featured both the Sonic 2 special stage and Get Blue Spheres as well as the Eggman logo screens from the Studiopolis Zone boss, was cute
The Saturn logo could be seen on the diagram of the other habitable planets
Robotnik had a label for “Badniks” on his circuit breaker. I wonder if the drones in the movie are intended to be Badniks, or if we’ll see actual ones if a sequel gets made
Also, was it implied that Robotnik committed war crimes for the US government
One of the government guys who I think only got one line was played by Garry Chalk and as such sounded exactly like Optimus Primal
I can’t tell if Sonic getting a red race car bed was an intentional shout out to the Archie comics or if it’s just a coincidence, but I loved it
A dude about my age wearing a Sonic Mania t-shirt literally stood up and clutched his head in shock when Tails showed up
After the movie a very excited kid got his mom to take his photo with the Sonic display in the lobby. Afterwards he was so excited that he flossed
I can’t believe they talked about Olive Garden so much

Flower of Evil Thoughts- Episode 12: Part 1
Okay, just when I think these episodes can't get any better than the last, I get CONTINUOUSLY proven wrong! How is this show SO amazing!? Okay, let's start with the recap and my thoughts.
WOW this episode really started off with a bang, didn't it?? I was floored how crazy unmother found out the real Heeseong, her real son, was a serial killer. I was legit creeped out by the fact that he kept commemorative photos of his kidnappings and killings, but what really fucked me up was the fact that he kept their fingernails. So NOW we know where the other sets of fingernails went... I guess Do Minseok kept the ones on the right hands and Heeseong kept the ones on the left hand. Just ughhh ewwww. This is seriously so disgusting. That really grossed me out. So, was unmother going to commit suicide? She held a blade to her wrist and then she looks out the window, and what does she see?? Heeseong... trying to bury a body in the rain. I mean what even??? This whole family has upped the evil factor. If there's any flower of evil blossoming? It's the Baek family.
And who's body is it!? None other than Do Hyunsoo! The man he just hit with his car! I mean REALLY!? He was going to legit BURY Hyunsoo alive??? This guy is the psychopath, this guy is the batshit crazy one, this guy is the serial killer. NOT Hyunsoo. It's kinda funny, I was talking to my husband and I said. "Well, the synopsis sorta got it right. Heeseong is definitely a serial killer, only it's the REAL Heeseong and not the fake Heeseong, which is Hyunsoo." We both were like "Yep. Heeseong IS a serial killer and did it right along with Do Minseok." Funny, that.
He’s so casual like “Oh don’t mind me. Just gonna bury this man I hit with my car alive. Go back inside.” So, ole Mommie Dearest over here goes all feral on her serial killer son and straight up stabs his ass declaring she’s scared of him. You know what, lady? I am too. He’s kinda terrifying. I swear if you gave that boy an axe and told him to go chop wood, he'd turn it around and do a Lizzie Borden on your ass. This family as a whole is a complete whack job.
Oooookay so we're back in the present now, and what do we have here??? Heeseong. Sitting up in his chair and guess what he's doing. SPEAKING. NORMALLY. None of that "I just got out of a coma and I'm slow" speech he'd been doing since last week. Yeeeeah I knew his bullshit he was pulling was a whole-ass act. Okay, so last week, when I saw the preview at the end of Ep 11 and they were all screaming about finding a buried body? I had a theory that it was going to be the maid's body they find, considering the way the crazy mother was freaking at out her wanting to know what all she knew. Now you have Heeseong being threatening with this lady. I'm getting death flags everywhere for her.
Oh look... creepy hospital trash dad is deep the blood cleaning Heeseong's car, phone rings and there we got trafficker man, Yeom Sangchul. Soooo, Heeseong owed him money and dad paid him off to cover his son's ass??? DUDE. What is WRONG with this family!? What is WRONG with these people!? They're legit messed tf up! And can they STOP trying to "take care of" Hyunsoo already?? The constant putting out a hit on him is getting frustrating. "Either Hyunsoo lives or we do." UM. You both are TWISTED old FUCKS who don't deserve life after all the crap you've pulled. Hyunsoo deserves life. He's more human than all of you. You don't, if that's how it's going to be. I'd love to watch them rot in prison.
YAY!!! There's our couple!!! Coming out of Hyunsoo's shop looking like a legit BADASS power couple!!! YASSSSSSSSS!!! And... what's this??? What?? Detective Choi wants a cup of coffee??? Weird... it almost seemed as if Jiwon WAS expecting some kind of Swat team out there to arrest her husband. Jiwon looks confused on what's happening, Hyunsoo is just quietly accepting it all. And when they go inside and Sunbae almost appears, reluctant and hesitant. He even thanks Hyunsoo for being the informant, which I did NOT expect. I knew there was a reason why I liked him from the start. He's redeeming himself.
Haesoo is really stunned over the fact that Jiwon knows the truth about Hyunsoo and who he is. And of course she's in a panic because she believes her brother left and so now would be the perfect time to turn herself in. Moojin tries his hardest to stop her, because obviousy he doesn't want to see her go to jail, but he's gotta stop being so pushy...
Sunbae has a great personality, but when he starts questioning Hyunsoo over the murder he doesn't waver. Hyunsoo straight up tells him he had no motive for murdering the village head, unlike Jiwon who's crying out that he didn't do it. That's right. Because he DID NOT. The look that the husband and wife give each other, Jiwon just looks stricken by the fact that after what they went through last night, Hyunsoo still won't tell the truth. That he was not the one who murdered the village head. Hyunsoo just looks at his wife calmly. His expression is unreadable. He may have just been silently pleading with her to please respect his wishes. This is what he wants. He doesn't want this for his sister.
Oh, Noona... not only was Hyunsoo's past so incredibly traumatic for him, but it was for you too. You've been deeply affected by this because of your overwhelming love for your brother and it's precious. It really is. It's heartbreaking watching him get thrown into repeated exorcisms at such a young age for something that was never even wrong with him. ALL of the adults in his life FAILED HIM. His father, the therapist, the villagers, and even his only friend along with his pack of cronies. They BRAINWASHED him into believing he was a bad person just like his father was, and it's HEARTBREAKING. It's so utterly HEARTBREAKING. I LOVE how strong-willed Noona delcaring she doesn't feel sorry for killing the old bastard who put this poor child through all of this.
They threw things at him, beat him, hurt him... And when they cut to Hyunsoo after being beaten, he just looks dead inside... it's so devastating knowing that they forced him into believing he was being possessed by his father's ghost, to the point that he saw his father's ghost. Now, maybe he really DID see his ghost, but the fact that he was so brainwashed into believing these things? My heart literally ACHES for Hyunsoo... Noona is right. Moojin is NO better. He turned his back on Hyunsoo when he needed him most. Tied him a tree, beat the crap out of him, stoned him. And every single person in that town FAILED Hyunsoo. Hyunsoo was the only real HUMAN out of all of them. And that is SO DEVASTATINGLY HEARTBREAKING. Because he was so unjustly and unfairly FAILED by people he needed most, EXCEPT for Noona.
Okay, Sunbae knows something is going on. He knows that Hyunsoo claiming he killed the old man and how easily the weapon was found was just TOO convenient. He knows. NOW, I'm DYING to know who this one another witness was that said Hyunsoo wasn't a bad person? Was it Noona? Was it someone else? Because every single person in that village ostracized him, that we know of, asides from Haesoo. So what gives??? I want to know who it was... I'm just gonna place a bet that it was Haesoo who had her brother's back because she was the only one who ever did.
Oh.. oh Sunbae... you are 100% and fully fledged redeemed. REDEEMED. Don't imprison an INNOCENT man!!! I think he KNOWS Hyunsoo is innocent, and the look on Hyunsoo's face... he knows the Hyunsoo and Haesoo's childhood tragedy. My heart just twisted. Sunbae. T_T Sorry, but the fact that Sunbae is letting him go, simply by saying he isn't interested in Do Hyunsoo anymore, and that Do Hyunsoo is a good person... I swear I had tears in my eyes because of the hope in theirs!!! I was smiling and had tears in my eyes just like Jiwon because FINALLY!!! He can live his life, he can be with his family, he can love his wife openly and happily, he can raise his daughter with no fear, and... wait, hold up... it's too damn happy. Way too happy. Something bad is going to happen... I can feel it. Yep. Something is coming to literally fuck up their happiness and it's stressful. It really is.
OH GOD this SCENE. This next scene!!! I cried during this scene. I found myself sobbing because of the pure innocence of this scene alone. Our precious baby girl, Eunha!!! She's back!! And she's running and crying in his father's arms... You can already see the emotion on his face as he stoops down for his baby, and he's crying too... It's like years upon years of all these emotions that were built up and hidden behind iron walls are spilling out of him now that the floodgates have burst. Like he just can't help itself, and it's a beautiful thing. It's so good for him, it's cathartic and just what he's needed for so so long. All the years he spent locked behind that wall, believing he was something he wasn't, it's all been set free. He can FEEL. And he show what he's feeling without being told otherwise. He's free to love.
"Daddy! I missed you so so so much!!"
Oh, little sweetie, he did too. He really did. So very much. All the years he's spent watching you grow and raising you, all of those memories and feelings for you, you precious little angel, are welling up inside of him and bursting out of him, on top of the fact that he doesn't have to say goodbye to his baby girl simply due to the fact that he's Do Hyunsoo. That's why he's crying. From the day she was born, to each one of her milestones and young triumphs throughout her life are so important because he sees it all so differently now. When Jiwon't mother says "She acts like they've been separated for years" and Jiwon remains quiet? Because in a sense, they have. Sure, he's seen Eunha almost every single day of her life, but he hasn't really SEEN her til now because he had a heavy, dark veil covering the eyes of his heart.
He's seeing Eunha for the first time and feeling her with his heart, and i find that so overwhelmingly beautiful. Jiwon assures her mother that it's nothing when she worriedly asks what's wrong, that she's never seen him like this before. And Jiwon just tearfully smiles so gently and so softly at her precious family while they cry and embrace because she loves them so much. It's sweet how Jiwon's mother is concerned for them though lol. I wonder if she'll find out...? And how ADORABLE was it when Eunha told her daddy not to cry again because he misses her? She's such a precious little angel and such a good little girl. His kiss on her forehead was the sweetest thing too. What REALLY made me melt in tears was the fact that Hyunsoo says:
"Eunha-ya, daddy loves you a lot."
And Eunha's arm heart... just... GOSH. T____T And even though she tells her daddy not to cry, you can see him tearing up again as he waves bye bye to his little girl off to preschool. It's so beautiful and refreshing to see him finally finding his emotions and finding his feelings and expressing them so honestly. And his little kiss on her forehead. Just end me. I can’t get over how precious the moments these two share truly are. It’s beautiful. ♥
Wooooowwww, so Jiwon was planning on quitting her job as a police officer??? But here we have Sunbae trying to encourage her to seriously think about this decision, because he's right. Giving up a job like that could have a huge affect on her entire life. And to get to work and work like crazy because they're mad busy lol. Ah, Sunbae.
And I just can't get over Hyunsoo and Jiwon's love. I really can't. I love how holds her hand and strokes it gently with his thumb. She asks "What were you thinking about in front of the store earlier?" And BAM! I was right! He was remembering the very first time he ever held Eunha. I'm sure he probably wanted to cry the first time he held her because his heart was likely overwhelmed with all sorts of feelings, but he didn't know how and he couldn't figure them out. And then he says when he met Jiwon, every single moment of his life was filled with first times and I just... I can't... Jiwon has been the most beautiful, welcoming, warming and positive force in his life. If it weren't for her, he may not have ever began his healing process from years upon years of trauma. I love the focus on their hands. I really do. Almost like he didn't want to let her go back to work, and even asking her if she'll be alright. Hyunsoo, you are such a wonderful husband to her. Goodness.
I do love how when Jiwon entered her workroom and the police chief snapped at her, Sunbae was quick to step up with the continued story of Eunha was sick and he sent her home, so she's not been made aware of the situation, which is half-true. Jiwon had NO idea that Yeom Sangchul busted loose and is on the run. Now, here's something interesting...
"How's your kid? Who's sick? Your first or second?"
WAIT... now why are they making it a point to show that Jiwon only has one child right now??? Is there... is that foreshadowing?? Could there maybe be a chance that Eunha might get a brother or sister in the future??? Or is that just my wishful thinking and overthinking it because the police chief just doesn't know enough about her as a person and that's what they're showing us? Hmmm... Well, here's hoping we get that happy ending with Jiwon pregnant and them having a new baby! *fingers crossed* lol Sorry. Just some Hyunsoo/Jiwon fanwishes. Anyway... I got a good chuckle out of the chief trying to cover his ass by passing out energy drink packets and of course Sunbae being his hilariously greedy self with wanting two and talking about the chief being cheap HAH! I laughed. And then Sunbae gets a call from Hyunsoo... WHAT!? What is going on now??? Wanting to talk where Jiwon can't hear?
So, Hyunsoo is still sitting at the front gate in his car and he's thinking back to something Yeom Sangchul said. "Think hard about it. Whom did you tell this secret to? Who do you think ratted you out to me?" Ooooo, I think Hyunsoo's onto something, though. I get why he doesn't want Jiwon to know, but hasn't he learned his lesson yet? Honey, things go south when you keep secrets from your wife. She's also a police officer. You do realize that, right? And she's a badass one at that. I get you're protecting her from knowing that someone is out to get you, but you gotta tread carefully love... you don't want to break trust between the two of you. You need her trust now more than anything.
Oh look, there's human trafficking trash man eating and the equal trash son laying in bed watching the news on his tablet. And her comes trash mom. Is he really still going to continue pulling off that whole fake slow talk "I just got out of a coma. Feel pity for me" crap? Please. We know he can speak just fine considering he did it earlier with the housemaid. Can he spare me the innocence? And why does he still seem to have himself convinced that Hyunsoo is going to kill him?? Hell, if anything, Hyunsoo will just want to help catch his ass and have him thrown in prison for the disgusting stuff Do Minseok did with him.
So, Moojin is going to play the noble idiot again once more for Haesoo by looking for Hyunsoo? Well, you don't gotta look too far, bro. He's a lot closer than you think. Also, the more I think about it, the more I'm with Moojin. Not because my heart is shriveling over him telling Noona to stop saying she'll turn herself in, but I agree. Sunbae let Hyunsoo go saying he has no interest in him anymore. If Noona goes to the police station now and outright admits to killing the village head all those years ago, there's also a chance that they'll all find out that Jiwon's husband is Do Hyunsoo. Sunbae might be willing to overlook that fact, but that doesn't mean the others will.
Side note, but Moojin, why do you think you deserve a SHRED of care from Haesoo after the shit you've pulled? Sorry but that got on my nerves. Stop comparing yourself to Hyunsoo and your importance to Noona. Hyunsoo is her little BROTHER. He's family. There's a HUGE difference. Jeez, Moojin. Stop being so pushy and clingy. She doesn't WANT to go home. She WANTS to go to the police station. You have no right to tell the driver where to send her. Ugh he's so frustrating sometimes. I have such mixed feelings about him.
Alright, so Hyunsoo and Sunbae are at a cafe now talking about the fact that Hyunsoo has a pretty good idea of who's put a hit out on him. That he'll give Yeom Sangchul a shit ton of money to kill him. And it flashes back to trash dad trying to talk Hyunsoo into leaving if he gives him 10 times the amount. WHY can't these people just leave him alone?? For fuck sake. Hyunsoo states it's just an assumption, but we know he's not wrong and he won't tell Sunbae who thinks the person is til he can confirm it for himself with Sunbae's help. This treading into some very dangerous waters.
Moojin, good grief why do you keep bothering her? We're all well aware you like Haesoo, but she isn't interested in a relationship with you or anyone else. She's at the police station, and it's kind of sad because she believes that Moojin is all Hyunsoo has left. She shows up and just about outs herself when Jiwon smoothly covers it up by claiming she's here to identify the human trafficking victims since it's connected to her father's serial killings.
Okay, so... I LOVE this scene. I LOVE their discussion on the rooftop. It's excellent because it's just what Haesoo needs to hear, no matter how harsh Jiwon came across, it was necessary. Haesoo wastes no time in admitting that she knows Jiwon knows everything, and that Hyunsoo had a very justifiable reason for living as Baek Heeseong. I do love how protective she is over her brother, and yet again, she admits to Jiwon that she killed the village foreman and not Hyunsoo. Haesoo, no... she does not think her husband is a dangerous person because they just spent the night before talking about literally everything. Hyunsoo told her everything he could possibly think of. Jiwon loves him unconditionally. She does not think her husband dangerous for a moment.
"Haesoo, Hyunsoo is no longer a little boy that you need to look after. He's the father of my child. He's my family. He's my person. Now, he has a wife who will stand by his side... no matter what happens. He told me his sister is a very kind person. Whenever something bad happened when he was young, he was always the first to be suspected. He told me you always went around telling people he's innocent. He didn't care what other people thought, but you were always the one who cried and felt upset about it. Because you're so kind, he thought you wouldn't be able to endure other people's criticisms. That's why he took the blame. He didn't care what other people thought about him. If you turn yourself in, he'll no longer be a wanted criminal. But he'll feel guilty and indebted to you for the rest of his life. I don't want that. So... please respect your brother's decision. And... you should be the one to feel guilty instead."
"I'm horrible, aren't I?" No, Jiwon. You are not. I won't lie, your words were harsh, but they had to be said. This was totally necessary. They absolutely had to be, because Haesoo needed to understand and know the importance in all of this. She needed to know that her brother is not alone. That he has a loving wife and family to stay by his side. Jiwon tells her that what they talked about today is that if Haesoo recognized any of the victims in regards to her father's crimes and that is supposed to say no. Noona cries and thanks Jiwon for trusting Hyunsoo. Because it's what he needs. A wife to love him, trust him and help him. Haesoo tells Jiwon that while she's still alive, she'll do everything she can to repay her... while she's still alive?? Is anyone else getting possible death flags from Noona...? I'm worried. Really worried about her. Like it has me nervous. If something happens to her after everything Hyunsoo did for her... I just don't even want to think about it.
