matthew lore: childhood friends & teammates

AKA a vaguely chronological list of current NHL players Matthew knew before he ever played an NHL game

This is already a massive list, so in an effort to keep it as short and organized as possible, I have bolded the names of guys who appear in multiple categories and have only included those who have played at least a full season’s worth of games in the NHL.

For a comprehensive list of his teammates that have ever played an NHL game, this invaluable tool will provide you that information dating back to his first season in the NTDP (2013-2014).

CASEY FITZGERALD gets to go first and uncategorized, because he’s known Matthew longer than anyone else on this list, seems to be the cousin he’s closest to, and is one of the three childhood teammates that became one of Matthew’s NHL teammates. (And roommate!)

THE ST. LOUIS BOYS

LUKE KUNIN is THE guy. Their families are friends (Matthew’s whole fam was at Luke’s wedding, Luke’s whole fam was at Brady’s), and they were teammates for fourteen straight seasons before finally getting separated after their time at the NTDP, which is so long Luke's literally known Matthew longer than Taryn has.

Of the six St. Louis guys drafted in 2016, Luke and Matthew were the only ones born in 1997, so the following have all played with Matthew significantly less than Luke.

CCM Motown Classic 2005

TRENT FREDERIC From what I can find, Trent only played with Matthew during the 2005-2006 St. Louis Rockets season, but he played with Brady and was coached by Keith in the same Junior Blues hockey program, was one of the family friends that got to come around and play mini sticks with David Backes as a kid, and his time at the NTDP overlapped with Matthew’s in the 2014-2015 season (Trent U17, Matthew U18).

2010 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament

CLAYTON KELLER played in the 2010 Quebec International Pee-Wee Tournament with Matthew and likely more but trying to find youth hockey rosters from before 2015 is a herculean task. But he was one of those U17 guys that got to play up with the U18s his first year in the NTDP and played with Matthew for 16 games and then went on to win gold together at the U18 Men's World Championship in 2015.

LOGAN BROWN Other than the 2010 tournament, Logan seems to have played more with Brady than he did with Matthew, and wasn’t in the NTDP like the other guys, but does train with them in the summer.

JOSEPH WOLL Unlike the other St. Louis boys, Joseph seems to have played exclusively with Brady, but his time at the NTDP overlapped with Matthew’s the same as Trent’s did. It’s unclear if he trains at the same place as the others during the offseason, but along with the rest of the 2016 St. Louis Draftees, his signed draft day photo is framed in Matthew’s bedroom at his parents' house because of course it is.

THE 1997 JUNIOR BRUINS

This Athletic article is about all the NHL players who played for the 1997 Junior Bruins tournament team over the years, but from what I can find, Matthew only played on the 2010 team with Casey Fitzgerald, NOAH HANIFIN, CHARLIE MCAVOY, COLIN WHITE, and the ever present, Luke Kunin.

Matthew is still close friends with all these guys, but Noah in particular is a Noted Best Friend and with him being from Boston and the Tkachuks having a house in Cape Cod, their summers overlap a lot even when they aren’t teammates.

With Casey, he and Colin White are the only childhood teammates to play with Matthew in the NHL.

Okay, this section is where it gets a little chaotic so I split it between the guys who played with Matthew and those he went to school and was familiar with because their time at the NTDP overlapped.

JACK ROSLOVIC was linemates with Matthew (and Auston) in the 2014-2015 season and when Matthew went to the 2015 Draft to support all his 1996 boys, Jack was the one he chose to sit with. The next summer, Jack returned the favor (see photo with Christian at Matthew's draft above).

AUSTON MATTHEWS is another family friend. He was Matthew’s center in 2014-2015 and when he broke his leg the previous year, Keith got a bunch of NHL guys to reach out to Auston , and he’s the one who gave us the best story about Matthew texting his own highlights to his friends.

QUINN HUGHES is Brady’s best friend from billeting with him and Keith while in the NTDP and is on this list because Jack called Brady and Matthew QUINN’S BOYS, their families are friends and met at the latest, in 2010 when Quinn played on Brady's Junior Bruins tournament team. On top of that, Quinn he once included Matthew in his answer about watching Chris Tanev play after he got traded to the Flames for no reason at all other than to say he likes to watch him play too.

And last, but certainly not least, is CONNOR MCDAVID.

Matthew spent multiple summers, including the summer before his rookie season, training with Connor at Gary Roberts’ and the two of them are what I like to call STAR CROSSED TEAMMATES. Not only does Matthew swear the Oilers almost drafted him—and there’s certainly enough reports and predictions from before his draft to back up that being the plan—but Connor could’ve been a 1997 Junior Bruin if Brain McDavid wasn’t out to get me.

Prologue: This is Tomorrow - quick search seems that the title is a reference to the 1956 London Art Exhibition that opened in the Whitechapel Art Gallery and considered a watershed in British post-art and kick starting the art movement of "Pop Art" (see the effects of the Storm having comic book like attributes)

(Richard Hamilton was a painter famous for Pop Art and had a work in that exhibition so it checks out)

Book One: In Our Time - based on a collection of short stories of the same name by Hemingway. these are stories about before, during and after WW1. The stories have a general theme of separation, loss, death, grief and alienation. (Potentially allusions to Druvis maybe?)

Book Two: Tender is the Night - this is the final completed book by Scot Fitzgerald (who wrote the Great Gatsby and referred in the beginning quote of the game) and is a tragedy that follows the deterioration of a married couple that reflects Fitzgerald's own troubled relationship with his wife who Schneider's design greatly references. (The couple in the Book either inspire Druvis and FMN's relationship or Vertin and Schneider's relationship)

Book Three: Nouvelles et Textes pour Rien. (Translation is 'Stories and Texts for Nothing') - Again a collection of stories by Samuel Beckett. Seems to be lesser known, heres from Wikipedia "All three stories deal with the deplacement or expulsion of three old men who are forced to leave their modest lives in search of a new niche they might fit" (the SPDM kids desire to learn more about themselves and the outside world)

Book Four: EL ORO DE LOS TIGRES (Translation "the Gold of Tigers") - this is even harder to find stuff on and in English,An allegoric analysis of the contemporary juvenile reality. A review of the movie based on the book- "Inspired by a J.L.Borges' collection of poems, the story recounts the survey of an individual conscience by three young men, surrounded by the nihilism of a society with a hopelessly urban future" ( the struggle between Madam Z and the suitcase fam against the oppressive Foundation maybe?)

Book Five: Prisoner in the Cave - Based on Plato's allegory of the cave

Book Six: E Lucevan le stelle (Translation "the stars are shining") based on the opera of Tosca by Giacomo Puccini in 1900, the title is a direct reference to an aria sung in the Third Act which Isolde also sings parts of.

i wrote this for my wife, for our JereMike fam, but you guys can see it too Michael didn't come home from his shift, & Jeremy's getting worried. Michael's trans in this! this is a little hurt/comfort ficlet after Michael got attacked by the animatronics at the AftonRobotics facility

Jeremy found a routine that worked for him: He woke up at around 6AM every morning to greet Michael when he came home from work. They were able to spend some time together before Michael went to sleep for a few hours, and then Jeremy would start the chores around the house so the kids had breakfast waiting for them when they woke up. He enjoyed meeting Michael at the door, greeting him after what were usually long, grueling shifts. 

But Michael didn’t come home on time, and that was a concerning first. Jeremy tried not to think about it. Maybe he was running late-- some project having complications that demanded his immediate attention. Breaking routine, Jeremy decided to focus on his chores instead. The hours ticked by slower than usual, anxiety pricking at his gut. To help ease his worries, he shot off a text to his husband and waited a few minutes. No reply. Jeremy sighed and went back to what he was doing before. The kids would be awake soon, and he knew they would be rowdy without breakfast. 

Gregory was awake first. He could tell by the soft pattering of paws as Rusty skittered out the door of Gregory’s room and ran to Jeremy’s, whining in the hopes of sneaking in to see Michael. That was their routine. Gregory always woke up early in the hopes of catching his Mama for a few minutes before sleep claimed him. “Dad—“ but Michael wasn’t there, and Gregory called out for clarification. 

“He’s still at work, bud!” Jeremy called back. 

Crestfallen, Gregory stumbled into the kitchen with Rusty at his side. He looked pleadingly up at his father, hoping for an estimated time for Michael’s return. But when Jeremy checked his phone and saw no reply, there was nothing he could offer. Instead? “Hey, I bet Rusty really wants to potty before breakfast.” He chose misdirection. 

“Yeah—“ Gregory nodded, turning to the red kelpie pup. “C'mon boy. Let’s go outside.” They two hurried out to the backyard, with Rusty yipping and bouncing alongside the eldest child. 

Jeremy was starting to get worried though. He decided to call— but again, no answer. He called again. Nothing. Those subtle pricks of anxiety began to intensify. Did something happen? Wouldn’t someone notify him though? He didn’t have much faith in management at AftonRobotics, but for once? He chose to hope they would do the right thing. 

Bailey and Brooke stumbled out next. They knew better than to bother Michael and immediately sought out their Dad in the hopes of swiping food while he cooked. He knew their game well and sat them down at the table instead. As soon as Gregory came back with Rusty, everyone was fed. 

By the time the children were fed and the kitchen was clean, Jeremy felt panic start to creep in. Michael never just ignored him. Something was wrong, something had to be wrong. So, Jeremy chose to call the facility in the hopes of getting answers. It didn’t take long before the receptionist answered and transferred him to a manager. 

“Hey, my husband hasn’t come home yet. He works there, he should have been back hours ago.” 

“Who?”

“What?”

“Who is your husband?” 

“Michael— Fitzgerald!” Jeremy clarified. “I’m looking for Michael Fitzgerald. He never came home.” 

“Michael..” The manager echoed, then paused. “I’m not seeing—“

Jeremy rolled his eyes with an exaggerated sigh. What was that stupid name that Michael said he was assigned at work? “Eggs Benedict!” 

The snort of laughter from the manager was telling. “Ah yes— Eggs Benedict.” He paused again, then something seemed to change. “Ah—“ 

“What?” Jeremy didn’t like the sudden serious edge in his tone. “Did something happen!?” 

“No, no!” The manager was quick to assure. “Eggs is— in one of our restricted areas. No cellphone access, per protocol. Seems the animatronic down there is being… difficult.” 

Jeremy’s brow furrowed together. Why didn’t he believe him? “Difficult. Michael’s hours late. When can I-“ 

“He should be leaving soon. His relief is already headed down there. Will that be all?” Suddenly, the manager sounded short. 

Jeremy grit his teeth together. He didn’t like this, but he wasn’t going to get any answers either, from the sound of it. “Yeah.” He couldn’t shake the feeling that something terrible happened. “Yeah, that’s it.” Without even a goodbye, the call cut. Jeremy felt dread sink in, but he couldn’t let it show. 

His kids were nearby. The twins were too engrossed in whatever elaborate game of play pretend they cooked up already, but Gregory? Gregory was watching while Rusty tried and failed to get his attention. “When’s Mom coming home?” 

Jeremy had to swallow down the lump in his throat. “His boss said he was just about to leave, kiddo. Wanna help me get his breakfast ready? You can give it to him when he gets back.” 

A devilish grin pulled back on Gregory’s lips. “I’m gonna tell him that I made it.” 

“Oh really?” Jeremy mused, raising a brow. “I bet he’ll believe you too.” 

It began to rain around mid-day, which quickly gave way to a horrendous thunderstorm. Rusty scrambled under Gregory’s bed for comfort, his ears pinned back. All three kids decided to support their puppy by playing in the room and offering their comfort to the little red dog at intervals, trying to include him in their games with the hopes of taking his mind off the weather. Jeremy found himself pacing and cleaning the house mindlessly. Michael’s breakfast had long gotten cold, sitting in the microwave untouched. 

But Michael did, finally, return home. 

Soaking wet from the rain, he looked like a drowned rat when he stumbled through the front door. “Mikey--” Jeremy breathed a sigh of relief. The familiar nickname was enough to lure the kids out, and Rusty when the front door closed. 

“Mama!” All three poured out in a flurry of chaos with Rusty bouncing along closely after, yipping excitedly. 

But Jeremy noticed it first: The way Michael carried himself… he was visibly in pain. There was a limp in his step. He must have found one of Jeremy’s oversized hoodies and thrown it on in the car, hiding whatever was beneath. Something bad happened. And he looked so exhausted… 

“Hey, guys…” Michael’s voice was raw. Tired. That further cemented it, for Jeremy, who also rushed over to Michael’s side, trying to pull the children away from pawing at their mother. Gregory latched on immediately, refusing to be removed at first. 

“Are you okay!?” Gregory voiced exactly what Jeremy wanted to ask. 

“Hey-- Lets get your Mama inside. He’s had a long shift.” But the look Jeremy gave Michael-- They desperately needed to talk. Jeremy tried to reach for his husband, only for Michael to pull away. 

“I’m fine,” Michael assured, refusing to make eye contact. He was trembling, Jeremy could see that much. 

It was a bit of a struggle to get the kids away. The twins were the first to return to their games, but Gregory was harder to convince. Jeremy eventually managed, turning on a movie to pull their attention away. Finally, he got Michael to their bedroom and it was obvious that his husband just wanted to sleep. But Jeremy had to be sure… “What happened?” 

At first, Michael resisted. He was hiding something. He shook his head, his steel-gray eyes looking anywhere but directly at his husband. But when Jeremy didn’t let up? “I got attacked…” He finally yielded. 

Jeremy felt like cold water had been dumped on him. “Attacked?” His hands hovered, wanting to reach for his husband as Michael sat on the couch. “Mikey-- Do you need a hospital?”

“No.” The answer came quickly. He remembered what his management team said-- the subtle threats of job loss. “They gave me six weeks off. Paid. I’ll be fine.” Buying his silence. But he knew he couldn’t hide the damage from his husband for that long. His shaky hands reached up, pausing as they grabbed at the hoodie. “No hospital.”

Jeremy felt that lump forming in his throat again. “Okay…” With his resignation, Michael finally pulled the hoodie away. His clothes were ripped underneath, tattered with stains Jeremy couldn’t identify. Someone had already taken the time to bandage him up, which is probably what his manager had been withholding on the phone. He couldn’t see the extent of the damage, but the bruises he could see were enough. 

Tears began to well up in those worried brown eyes. Jeremy couldn’t help himself when he moved in closer, helping Michael pull his torn uniform off. Those ruined clothes were tossed aside, revealing more badges and bruising beneath. Blood began to leak through some of the bandaging already. “Michael---” His breath shuddered with a sob. “Baby, please-- You need a hospital.”

But again, Michael responded quickly: “No. I can’t.. I’m sorry. Can you just… can you help me in the bathroom?” 

The damage was worse than Jeremy could even assume. Once the wet bandages were pulled away, more bruising was revealed, along with angry electrical burns and gouges that were definitely too deep to not leave without stitches. One of the worst burns wrapped around his neck like an electrical cord had strangled him. All this came from an animatronic attack? These machines were supposedly safe for children, yet here his husband sat-- looking like someone tortured him for hours on end. The sight alone brought a sob from Jeremy that he couldn’t hide. It was clear: He had nearly lost his husband last night. 

“Mikey, please…” Jeremy pleaded, pressing his forehead against Michael’s. What was he begging for?

Michael leaned into the touch, to the comfort of his husband. He couldn’t hold himself up anymore, his exhaustion finally getting the better of him. “I’m sorry…” He whispered, his own voice wavering. 

“No,” Jeremy didn’t want to hear it. “Just… stay awake until I’m done, okay?” If Michael didn’t want to go to the hospital… then he would have to take care of this himself.

Personal headcanon time because I like making them!

Darius- Doesn’t really like horror movies, but will watch them if the person he’s with wants to. He doesn’t like gory movies but thrillers/psychological horrors are more up his alley.

Ben- One of those people that hated horror movies, watched a gateway movie like Scream and then became obsessed with horror movies (To Darius’s dismay, he usually wants to watch a horror movie when they have movie nights)

Kenji- Hates Horror movies. I can’t really say why, but he seems like the type.

Yaz- Casually watches them. It’s not her go to genre, but if she finds one that interests her she’ll watch it.

Sammy- Again also casual horror watcher, but she loves horror comedies like happy death day and Lisa Frankenstein (she likes more mild stuff).

Brooklynn- Love horrors movies and knows so much about them, huge horror movie buff. Her and Ben have horror movie marathons together, which is great because Kenji usually doesn’t like to watch them with her (which she’s fine with).

finally caving and rambling about my au vanessa<333

-after her mom..um..left, she started to get very good at drawing and would practice everyday (because she would try to draw her mom and not forget what she looks like)

-her older brother is phone dude and he knew practically EVERYTHING about freddys and fazbear entertainment. so naturally, older brother's interests = coolest thing in the whole world

-when she was around 16, PD opened fazbear frights and vanessa would help around with decorating and doing sfx :33

-unfortunately, the fire happened and everything spiraled from down there. she ran away from home and eventually got taken in by michael afton and jeremy fitzgerald (:333)

-she is very comfortable with the two, until shes about 17-18 and michael goes through the events of pizza sim. you can guess what jeremy and vanessa thought after michael didn't come home that day

flash foward to when shes about 20, jeremy and vanessa get jobs at silver parasol games (jeremy got roped into it because of the whole fazbear mess, vanessa got the job of her own will)

-things..do not go well for them there when The Anomaly first starts appearing. it gets ahold of jeremy, and then y'know what happens. vanessa is sadly never aware of his death because the anomaly immediately goes after her

-it promises her that it would help her find michael. he'd return home and be there for her forever and ever. and she gives in.

-throughout malhare's possession, she can really only remember bits and pieces (trying to reach out through the computer searches, the therapy sessions, getting moved to the pizzaplex and becoming head of security, etc)

-shes around 23 when she gets the job at the pizzaplex. slowly but surely, shes getting some more free will and starts to reach out to the employees. but malhare isnt having that so he takes control, makes the vanny suit, and informs all the employees about the all staff meeting

-vanessa is now the only security guard. she doesn't know why.

-flashing foward to the events of sb, before the intro she is full vanny and chasing after gregory (in my au ggy will be canon, so her goal is to either get him re-possessed or just finish him off). he gets away and hides in freddy's chest, yadayada, but THIS time vanessa is fully willing to help gregory because hello. hes like 10. she is an ally like freddy and can open security offices for you and help you to take different paths. but like freddy, she does have a limit. maybe this is the scrapped vanny meter or whatever

-ok im skipping most of security breach gregory finally plays the last princess quest game and frees her. she soon learns that gregory doesn't really have a home to go to, so she immediately takes him under her wing and boom 3 star fam wins!!!!

i was just really thinking about her tonight<333 cant promise i'll do this again but alas.

they all went to enjoy their time, Gregory and his friends competed in games and challenges all over the Spookfest, Meanwhile Vannesa - Freddy - Roxy and Jeremy supervised them from afar, as time passed vanessa was greeted by their other friends Luis Cabrera, Nora Wu, Tristan Mazely and Daniel Rocha, Luis was dressed as a Knight, Nora was dressed as a Ranger, Tristan was a Bard, Daniel was a Rogue and Quinn was a Witch.

Soon Vanessa and her friends found their conversation ending quickly as they noticed the arrival of their animatronic friends Bonnie, Chica, Foxy and Monty, Bonnie was dressed as A ghost, Chica was dressed as a Fairy, Foxy was a Pumpkin and moon was a Candy Corn, Monty didn’t dress up

Chica: Hi Bestie, sorry we’re a little late

Bonnie: yeah it took forever for us to pick out costumes

Moon: that and a certain Reptilian refused to wear something

Monty: I don’t need to wear anything, this is the only time of year where I can go as myself

Foxy: never mind him, how have you’ve guys been

As the night went on they were Halloween songs, face painting, corn mazes and many other things, it almost felt as if this night would never end

ღ  tw: ABORTO. Su primer amor le rompió el corazón (y probablemente sea el gran causante de su doble vida, junto a su padre y la falta de atención que este le dio toda su vida). Fue su primera, segunda, tercera y ya han perdido la cuenta de cuantas veces amaneció entre sus sabanas, pero siendo chica e ilusa, la rubia pensó que serian algo más, que podría reformar al fuckboy y eso solo fue una ilusión. Fue en uno de esos tantos encuentros que la hija única de don Fitzgerald resulto embarazada y enseguida supo que no lo podía tener. Ese bebé iba a arruinar su vida, la forma en que su padre la veía, su mundo entero, y también sabia que Monty no estaba listo para ser padre. La decisión no fue fácil, pero tenía 15 años y a esa edad algo así derrumba la vida de una persona. Con miedos pero determinada encontró la “solución a su problema” en una clínica ilegal.

ღ Montgomery nunca supo del aborto y a la fecha son muy buenos amigos, probablemente el sea su mejor amigo aunque aquella relación este asentada sobre una base de engaños, malos entendidos y mentiras.

actually wait im gonna ramble about when security breach first came out. i had never rlly been interested in fnaf, mainly because 1. i forgot it existed and 2. horror wasn't much of my thing at the time?? although i have a vivid memory of drawing the animatronics when i was younger so i have no idea what that was about because i wasn't in the fandom BUT WHATEVER!!! BACK TO THE POINT!! around christmas time back in 2021 i remember seeing markiplier's playthrough on my youtube page. so i decided "yeah lets just watch this im curious" and BOOM. LEVEL 5 AUTISM MOMENT 💥💥💥

after finishing his playthrough i was obsessed. i thought about it constantly, i started to draw the characters, i watched the videos and all the edits and AUGHH!!!! i dont know what got me hooked but im kind of thankful for it tbh. security breach was kind of a gift because i was like bouncing between hyperfixations and falling out of most of them.. so when SB came that was literally the only thing i would draw

oh oh oh fun fact about me!!! originally my favorite characters were sun + moon, gregory and glamrock freddy + my own version of glamrock bonnie. i didn't really care much for vanessa or vanny until i found out about how much got cut out of the game and started to draw her more :)

around february/march, i started to learn more about FNAF as a whole and its lore and i loved. the afton kids. they were so silly i remember having a whole fix-it AU with them + jeremy and henry heeheehee... and after learning about the whole story, i tried to start making my own interpretation/au of it. it was fairly canon reliant, just with more character exploration + more of a coherent story

More Great Gatsby parallels/ comparisons in Reverse 1999 speculation (spoilers for current global story chapters)

While the Great Gatsby isn't strictly named or mentioned in the game, more focus on Fitzgerald's other work Tender is the Night as the second chapter. As seen with the last line of the novel being used in the introduction of the game we can see parallels between characters in the game (Vertin and Schneider more notably) that potentially act as not only nods to the 1920s but further explore their characters.

I may make an analysis and comparisons to Tender is the Night once I read the book (at some point hopefully)

Vertin

It can be considered that Vertin shares some similarities to the characters Jay Gatsby and Nick Caraway (the Narrator).

Gatsby - He is characterised by his unrelenting pursuit of his dream ("the green light") of reclaiming the past through rekindling of his relationship with Daisy Buchanan. While of course Vertin arguably pursues to reclaim the future and the truth, its easy to see the unrelenting optimism and determinism both characters share.

Optimism most seen in younger Vertin in chapter 3, blind optimism and desire to see the outside world that leads to tragedy - the Breakaway Incident. This optimism is still here in current Vertin, now backed by the suitcase fam (we love found family here)

Nick - He is the narrator of the story, our eyes into the life and death of Gatsby and the people around him. He becomes the observer of the hedonism of the Jazz Age/ 1920s through Gatsby's parties, and just like a narrator is largely unable to stop the events that lead to tragedy.

Vertin as the Timekeeper and our protagonist fulfils this role in a sense: a role designed to record the eras and "spare no feelings" mirrors Nick's own desire to remain separate to others affairs, but inevitably becomes entangled in the narrative: while Vertin is instructed by the Foundation to just watch, Vertin still has desires to seek the truth "of her own will". Vertin becomes the observer unable prevent the deaths of others, the Breakaway Incident, the countless people who have been taken by the storm.

Schneider

This is Zelda Fitzgerald, wife of Scot Fitzgerald and whose deteriorating marriage and relationship is explored in the novel Tender is the Night.

You can probably see similarities in Schneider's appearance to her, reflecting the "Flapper movement" of the 1920s.

(While she is probably the main influence to Schneider, alongside the references to the Italian mafia and the Godfather, I need to read Tender is the Night for a closer analysis)

While I don't think Schneider has direct parallels to the character of Daisy Buchanan, comparisons can be drawn with how Gatsby viewed Daisy as the American Dream, the idea that anything is possible with enough hard work and struggle - all ultimately futile and doomed.

For Vertin, this is the belief and renewed hope in the suitcase granting shelter from the Storm, however as the end of Chapter Two has showed us Vertin is more akin to Noah and his Ark than a Messiah:

While the Messiah promises the salvation of all, Noah's Ark can only grant safety to the few.

Others

This description of FMN could also vaguely reference the intial impressions of Gatsby we get before met by partygoers in Chapter 3 of the novel. ("German Spy", "I heard he killed a man")

Summary - Have an ark of oranges
