omg i love the hc in the broadway au that percy has absolutely inhuman range. like he can go from falsetto all the way down to the subharmonic level and nobody really knows just how wide his range actually is

I present: another snippet from one of my many Falsettos WIP's. This one is an AU where Whizzer is Jason's teacher.

“I am not going to kiss you,” Marvin said sharply. Their footsteps echoed from the walls of the corridor and they were leaving a trail of dirty and rain water behind them. The janitor would not be happy about this.

“But you want to,” Whizzer said. It was a statement and not a question. Marvin could feel his ears heating up. His face was probably bright red by now. He was glad that the light in the school was too dim for the other man to notice. 

“No,” he said hoarsely, but his brain already started to think about how it would feel to kiss Whizzer. Right here in the dark middle school of his son, while his wife was driving him home from baseball practices on the other side of the town.

It would probably be rough. Whizzer didn’t look like someone who kissed gently and Marvin didn’t want to be kissed gently. And it would be wet. Maybe he could feel the muscles through his shirt while the other man pressed against him and then-

“And now you are thinking about,” Whizzer said with a smirk and Marvin was sure that guy must have been a psychic. Or maybe he was just very predictable.

Okay, so every year Marvin’s law teacher Mr. Norris asks one of his seniors to give the beginners’ class a lecture on how to properly lie and win a mock trial case, and then come back for the afterschool practices in the weeks before the competition and give pointers. This year, Mr. Norris chose Marvin and offered him an exemption from his midterms AND finals if he did. 

He agrees, and so the weeks before the lecture, he is stressing out and RACKING HIS BRAIN trying to figure out what the hell he’s supposed to be telling these kids. Whizzer, being the nosy little shit he is, offers to help. This, of course, leads to an enormous fight between the two about how Whizzer couldn’t possibly be of any use and would only be a distraction. 

Whizzer storms away in a rage and refuses to reason with Marvin, who tries to apologize repeatedly. Every time Marvin attempts to talk to Whizzer, he’d just make a counterpoint and dismiss him. 

Two days before the lecture and Marvin’s still stuck in a rut. He has about ten saved Powerpoint drafts, five stacks of notecards, and one well-written essay, but none seem to fit the bill. So he calls Whizzer out of sheer desperation. Whizzer doesn’t pick up, so Marvin, knowing Whizzer’s dad isn’t home, just drives over to his house and knocks on the door. 

Whizzer answers the door after the second knock and just pulls Marvin into the house, spouts off everything he can’t stand about him. Marvin starts yelling back, and soon they’re throwing shit and getting in each other’s faces and it’s bad. Whizzer says something along the lines of  “But I want to believe everything you say because you’re so fucking good at lying to me. You’re so fucking stupid and confident and charming and that’s all you need to convince me that I live on the goddamn moon or something! The only thing you couldn’t convince me of is being straight, and it’s so f--”

And then Marvin, with this shiny, new epiphany of his, fucking kisses Whizzer right there. Two days later, he’s explaining to the beginners’ class that the majority of what you need to win a case is confidence and charm.
