ok but they could never fake zura’s death because if they held a funeral and someone was saying a speech and called him zura, he would stop fake sleeping in the casket, sit up dramatically and yell “ZURA JANAI, KATSURA DA!”

the joui 4 are so funny because they’re all guys with S class charisma stats that they only use to 1) be obnoxious 2) commit terrorism
and gintoki specifically is like yeah I can fake a charming personality with scary competency and get people to fall in love with me easily I just don’t feel like it unless you pay me <— guy whose oldest friends are in love with him and it’s fucking annoying and exhausting
sakamoto can’t turn his off though. goodbye nobunobu no one will miss you

Shinsuke Takasugi Character Discussion PART 2 - Putting a Name to the Irrationality, that is Love
A continuation of Part 1. Be sure to read that first and the warnings if you're interested! Heavy, I say HEAVY Takagin.
To further nail in how important Gintoki is to Takasugi as a reason to live, what wakes Takasugi up from his coma is Matako's tears. Her tears reminded him of hazy memories of the sky crying, how those tears were coming from someone who was trying to be strong, and he hates it. Because of that, he has to wake up, live and do something about it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And in his dying breath we hear at his most honest that Gintoki's tears have haunted him all this time. Pretty much implying the above monologue was about Gintoki's tears.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(This was probably my favourite moment in Gintama ever. This is probably the first time someone wanted Gintoki to smile, and not Gintoki fighting for someone else's smile.)
It isn't only about wanting to win against Gintoki. It's also about wanting him to be happy, and to not have to suffer all alone. Takasugi's form of love may have taken the form of power first due to his violent upbringing, but the more time they spent together being just humans, that love probably became more human too, morphing into what love really is. Wanting your loved one to be happy, and to be the closest to their everything, whether it be their happiness or their suffering.
And once again, on Rakuyo, as if to nail it in isn't Shoyo he was obsessed with but Gintoki - Takasugi displays an unwavering determination to kill Utsuro because he created this rotten world (hint: that made Gintoki cry). He is easily able to separate Shoyo and Utsuro, unlike Oboro. Even though Shoyo gave his life up for Takasugi to live, and Takasugi should have felt as responsible and guilty for it as Oboro does about his own sin.
Tumblr media
Back to their clash in Iga - if you've forgotten, my interpretation here was Takasugi begging an answer for his irrationality of choosing Gintoki over Shoyo. After calling Takasugi out for projecting when he wasn't the one who killed Shoyo in the first place, Gintoki clarifies why he made the 'choice', that it wasn't a choice in the first place but something he was doing out of duty as a student of Shoka Sonjuku. This reinforces how his actions still follow Shoka Sonjuku's principles, and stating the obvious shows how Gintoki can see that Takasugi was afraid of losing his place in Shoka Sonjuku because of his irrationality. Gintoki allows Takasugi to escape from that irrationality by spelling out his own reasons to him. Seeing a rational, honourable reason for Takasugi to be 'chosen' over all the corpses they ran over for Shoyo, Takasugi can finally say "I haven't been expelled, after all" in relief. Because he would have chosen Gintoki over Shoyo, too, and it can be rationalized.
Tumblr media
Instead of dragging out and accepting those emotions as Takasugi's path the same way Shoyo would have done, Gintoki does what he knows best - straightforwardly taking on Takasugi's anger and making it about himself. This manages to quell Takasugi's anger at himself, his irrationality, by letting him escape through Gintoki's more honourable reasoning for choosing him, and this peels the fake layer off Takasugi: not being able to forgive himself for irrationally choosing Gintoki over Shoyo.
It is only through Kiheitai that Takasugi finds the true skin that is his true self: an undying, strong love to live for one person. Because Takasugi never grew up with a loving family, the concept of love never came naturally to him. Now that Gintoki has lifted the confusion that blinded him and threatened to take his home in Shoka Sonjuku away, the world becomes clearer to Takasugi - just exactly what it was he was angry at the world for (hint: Gintoki's tears). As Bansai remarks on the look on Takasugi's face after Gintoki's words in Iga:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And with those eyes more focused on the present and the true anger that drives him to destruction, he finally notices how blindly Kiheitai clings to a leader who couldn't actually do anything for them, who simply enticed them with sweet words that came from a place of nihilistic destruction and gave them a delusion of certainty. How raking up their corpses in his fit of despair and rage only increased the burden on Takasugi's shoulders, because this isn't what he wanted. He wanted destruction, but it was as the solution to the tragedy he had to witness, to forgive himself for betraying his ideals and to quell the anger he couldn't put a name to (hint: at himself and Gintoki's tears). Instead, his actions only led to more demise and tragedy. Now that the self-hatred he directed at Gintoki was gone, Takasugi was fighting with the anger he couldn't place a finger on, and with such ambiguity, the burden of these corpses become too heavy for him to bear. But Kiheitai's unwavering loyalty at a pathetic, terrible person like him is what pushes him forward, for their sake, and all these piled up emotions make him realize too late--
--He had always been running away from himself. The loyalty Kiheitai he thought was only reserved for the Takasugi who gathered them together with his charisma, stayed on even for the Takasugi who lost sight of a purpose. There was something even the Takasugi had that keeps people spurring on - just being him - and because these people clearly loved him, he wanted to respond.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now that he was properly attuned to the emotions of the people in his present, it grants him a clarity of mind to face the past as a human too, not as a detached hero focused on achieving a single goal for a delusion of certainty. This is his true battlefield, as much as it is Enshou's.
What he wanted as a hero would have been to save Shoyo for Gintoki and everyone's sake. But what he wanted as human, all this time, was to be the closest to the person most precious to him, the person who gave him a reason to live in a world that meant nothing to him--Gintoki. Just like how he gave Kiheitai a reason to live.
And his anger to destroy the world all came from his anger at witnessing Gintoki's tears. Not Shoyo's death, not Gintoki's irrationality--the anger was all born from his own powerlessness at not being able to do anything for that mysterious cloudy sky. He already never understood Gintoki's burden and pain as a child, and that distance between them only grows and grows. Gintoki was now more alone than ever, and Takasugi was running away from his desire to keep chasing after him and be there for him, because it felt like there was no longer a way to do that anymore. At the start, Takasugi could focus on Shoyo and protecting him to feel close to Gintoki, but now that he was gone, it felt like there was nothing he could do to be closer to Gintoki's heart anymore. Even if Gintoki has found a 'place' in Edo, it didn't mean the man crying from the past, whose stupid face was etched into his left eye, had stopped suffering. The pain was still there, yet Gintoki lives as if it never existed and surrounds himself with the comfortable smiles and laughter which that broken man could never possibly muster. It was too unfair. To that unfair world, Takasugi wished to destroy it all.
But now that Takasugi knows he just wants Gintoki to not suffer alone, he can think clearer. What it is that he has to do and see through till the end. How he wants to protect what Gintoki cherishes - just like he was focused on Shoyo in the past, but this time also facing the man Gintoki Sakata truly is: an idiot who loves the world no matter how much it hurt him. So, Takasugi uses himself to get rid of Utsuro to protect the world Gintoki loves, and through that, stopping him from having to point a sword at Shoyo ever again.
On Takasugi's deathbed, these feelings clearly reach Gintoki. This time, Gintoki wasn't cutting someone down to protect things others held dear - he was cutting someone down because that someone wanted to protect the things Gintoki held dear. (edit: gintoki only realizes this after takasugi admits it was for him, though)
Even though both Shoyo and Takasugi smile at Gintoki before he cuts them down, Gintoki can only smile back at Shoyo, but isn't able to muster that smile with Takasugi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Takasugi's feelings to be by Gintoki's side are reciprocated just as much by Gintoki. It's just that Gintoki can't express it, because he has lived his life finding meaning in protecting others. To the point that even his decision to cut Shoyo down wasn't from a place of emotional attachment, but rather wanting to protect what Shoyo held dear. This is why Gintoki isn't as burdened by his emotions and self-hatred as Takasugi is, because he lives on through the emotions of other people who love him. That is his purpose of living, as someone who was born with nothing from the start and had to survive on his own with no future in sight by scavenging. It was people that filled his empty heart that he was born with.
But the person who filled it the most was undoubtedly Takasugi before Yorozuya came along. Takasugi was chasing after that void of a human more than anyone. Always wanting to win against him, no matter how much Gintoki beat him down. As much as the words 'come back tomorrow' were important to Takasugi, those words were just as important to Gintoki. Shoyo was home, but just like Otose is home now for Gintoki - both of them were the guiding figures who led him to find a forever place to belong - Takasugi and Yorozuya, both of whom will be chasing him forever. No matter how far he grows from them and himself by devoting himself to protecting people. Like how parents are home to their children, but it is that unconditional loving, safe home that lets children grow and find the love that will be their purpose of living.
Gintoki can smile cutting down Shoyo because he knows he would have successfully protected what Shoyo held dear. Cutting down Takasugi on the other hand, wasn't protecting anything. There was no reason for Takasugi to do this - he could have just died peacefully, knowing very well Gintoki would definitely kill Utsuro and protect Kiheitai in his stead no matter what. But this steadfast idiot still had to come along and die by his hands. He could've just died out of his sight, damn it.
And then he admits, he couldn't leave Gintoki alone to suffer on his own again. Takasugi coming back to life and dying was all to make sure Gintoki wouldn't have to suffer too much by killing his teacher again while protecting the world as Gintoki wants to.
If Gintoki didn't care for having Takasugi by his side to the same extent, I personally think Gintoki would have just been more angry that he had to cruelly cut down someone whose feelings and motivations weren't returned. Takasugi could have done this for someone else's sake like Kiheitai, not him, and it'd have been requited love - but no. Gintoki doesn't even think of these things because it's requited between them. Gintoki wants Takasugi to get closer to his true, empty heart. One of his biggest happinesses was just being with Takasugi after all, as he says himself--
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But this idiot had to go and get himself be killed by Gintoki. Yet Gintoki smiles, because those feelings from Takasugi were as clear as day - for Gintoki to not suffer alone, to be happy as always, and Gintoki had to respond to that as he always does to all of Takasugi's challenges.
Although the person who was probably closest to Gintoki than anyone was gone, Takasugi's death was probably what made the most peace with the suffering Gintoki has gone through until now and reached the far away Gintoki more than anyone ever could. Especially because it ended in his death, Takasugi showed Gintoki how adamant he was that Gintoki didn't suffer alone, how important it is to him that Gintoki is happy. Edo accepts and loves the Gintoki in the present as he is, but it is Takasugi, Shinpachi and Kagura who chase and love Gintoki as a whole. Takasugi's choice to sacrifice himself conveyed how it was important to someone in this world that Gintoki was wholly happy. If the past hurts, it hurts, but because Gintoki refuses to share the burden with anyone else and simply keep living protecting the present, Takasugi will selfishly share Gintoki's burden and protect his happiness as a whole.
I think this ending was such a perfect wrap for Gintama and Gintoki's character arc, giving so much closure to the heavy past he carries on his shoulders through pure, obsessive love that was sloppily conveyed. The sloppy nature of it is befitting for Gintama.
Although death scenes are sad, I thought Takasugi's death scene was the only possible moment of happiness for two idiots who couldn't express their emotions well. Both are satisfied - Takasugi being able to finally do something for the person he loves, Gintoki being loved by someone who is no longer living through him but is his own person now. No more cryptic talk about alter-egos, the you who is me - just stop making that stupid face, I won't let you run away again, wait for me in hell.
This was really difficult to write and explain, but for now this is what makes sense to me about Takasugi and his relationship with Gintoki. I'm still keeping my eyes peeled for an alternative interpretation, because the relationship between two men can't possibly be this romantically implied in a Shounen Jump series. I'll be sure share any future interpretations I can come up with as I rewatch the show again, because it really is a bold, weird move to base someone's character entirely on love lol.

Spicy Noodles
Sameko was foaming with rage, when she entered the convenience store, looking for the cheapest and spiciest cup of noodles. Why was she  mad? Guess what?! Smartass Gintoki had to point out how much she enjoyed the days in J High and lacked focus on finding Yuko Shibata, the very reason why they were in Seoul in the first place. And the worst part? He was right, even he said it without ill intention, he was so fucking right and she refused to eat his food for dinner!
As she stood in front of the shelves, looking for the extra spicy brand of instant noodles, she pictured how her best friend's face would cringe from the sin she was planning to commit.
An evil grin formed her lips when she found the red packaging and reached out to it. Just to see that another hand was reaching out for the exact same one as well. Her head turned and her eyes met with the tall guy in a dogtooth pattern coat, who also stopped in the movement. Never did she believe that something like that could happen to her, especially in Korea of all places, but her mouth went dry and her heart skipped a beat as she continued to observe the face of the stranger. He was not handsome at first glance, but he had a significant beauty in his facial features, was more slender in face and body, though the strongest eyecatcher to her were his eyes.
Sad eyes.
As if the boy felt her observation he suddenly formed his lips to a polite smile, which did not reach his eyes.
“Ahaha, sorry. Please go ahead. It’s all yours.” he said and took one step back from the shelves, offering her the last spicy noodles.
Charmed by his voice she stood there like a forgotten toast on the table, admiring him a little longer. Cheeks warmer than usual. When he cocked his head, still with that fake smile, she gathered some self-respect again and shook her head.
“You should take them. Pissed people don’t deserve tasty food more than sad ones.”
His eyes widened and his smile died.
“Sad?”
“Your eyes gave you away.” Then she took the red package out from the shelf and placed it into his hand.
“Enjoy.” With that she turned and speed walked out of the store, without looking back. And she just knew her face was red like a tomato. Damn, she needed a friend to talk to! Was it really possible she could have fallen in love at first sight?! WAS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?! After she rounded the corner, now sure he would not see her, she started to run.
FUCK IT! GINTOKI, YOU BETTER HAVE SOME TASTY RAMEN READY!
Kim Gi-Myung Pov:
Sad eyes, huh…
Gi-Myung looked at the Instant Noodles in his hand. Working for his uncle was living hell and he craved for something that reminds him of the comfort of his home and family in Gangseo. With a small huff he went to the register and paid for his little piece of home. The girl’s face was always in his mind, at first he did not care to take a closer look, but he must admit she was very pretty and her solicitude warmed his heart.
As he left the store he looked at the direction she took and a very small part of him hoped to see her again. To thank her for her kindness…and maybe invite her for dinner.
On that day, the noodles tasted especially good.

Had this scene for a while in my head :3 I am super soft for Jake Kim/ Kim Gi-Myung and I could not resist to throw my OC Sameko at him.

Otaes smile and Otaes tears - the Kyuubey-Arc is kinda a shitshow
Still on my Gintama-Rewatch and i've got feelings i need to let go off
So the Kyubey-Arc: Kyubey comes in, takes Otae a way like they are Bowser or something and it falls to Gintoki, Shinpachi, Kagura, Kondo, Hijikata and Okita to get her back.
The good:
The whole toilet battle is a delight, Hijikatas figth *chefs kiss*; all the Okikagu stuff makes me so happy, Taes interactions with the mother in law are wonderfull and show her strengths as a character
But everything else - oh boy oh boy oh boy
rage under the cut (and this is overthinking one of the central conceits of gintama be warned)
lets start that the relationship between Otae and Kyubey is paralled with Kondos relationship to an actual gorilla (equating homosexuality with bestiality) can i just say YIKES!!!
Hijikata not being able to fight Kyubey because she is a ~woman~ UGH!!!
Everyone freaking out about two women getting married
But the worst thing is: Kyubey kinda has a point. She's going about the wrong way, and the criticism that she's being protected and that she's ignoring Otaes feelings are correct but everything she says about shinpachi is true
let's imagine for a second that Otae really wanted to marry Kyubey (Sorachi would never let that happen because status quo is god, and he actually can't imagine a homosexual relationship at this point bless his heart) but let's imagine: if that were true Kagura would be correct that everyone is being a big jerk.
Shinpachi doesn't consider this - he storms inside like a jilted lover and just tries to take Otae back because she didn't discuss things with him, which granted was kind a dick move but it wasn't something she needed to do. He takes it as a reason to ignore her feelings.
Otae stops him. She wants to stay. So Shinpachi berates her because she's always shutting her feelings away and doesn't accept help. She still refuses to follow him. He hits her. Her cheek becomes red and for a moment Otae looks really vulnerable. Than Otae answers with anger and punches back and the whole scene becomes comedic.
I want to stay here for a moment. The slap is not comedic it becomes comedic through Otaes reaction. A lot of stuff Otae has to deal with on a daily basis only becomes comedic because she never shows weakness. Let's put a pin in that.
In a moment Shinpachi will say that anyone who makes his woman cry is a jerk.
Shinpachi my dear - what about the guys who hit them because they're not acting the way they're supposed to.
Because lets face it: Tae-chans fake smile never bothered anyone before. Be honest with yourself, Shinpachi. You didn't want to know. as long as she stayed with you, you were absolutely fine with this. Gintama as a whole series is constantly telling women that they should smile through the pain so that their male counterparts feel better - do you think Tae-chan never cried before?
Kyubey is misguided but her criticism is correct. Shinpachi always needs Tae to be strong. He can't handle it if she weren't. She's supposed to be strong and care for their family home and have a stable income (because Shinpachi sure doesn't have one)
It's the same with Kondo: Kondo depends on the fact that Otae smiles and becomes angry and never mentions that it's actually fucking scary to have a stalker. It's okay that Kondo constantly makes unwanted advances at her work and at her home - she just will hit him and smile. He never gets the hint. She transforms her whole home into a castle. He still doesn't get the hint. As long as there are no tears on the face it's apparently fine to ignore all of your girls wishes. Only sadness is acceptable as a deterrent. If tae became scared or sad it wouldn't be funny anymore. Thank got she's always strong.
This applies to other cases too: The underwear thief for example can only be funny because Tae gets angry and doesn't mention how violating it is to have your underwear stolen. Tae smiles and she smiles and she smiles. And so the status quo can remain.
Kyubey is misguided but she's also correct. There is noone with whom Otae can be weak. It's just that through her samurai bullshit she's forcing Otae once again to be strong.
And so the refutation of kyubey feels hollow. It feels like a story bending backwards to once again protect the feelings of it's male protagonists. Of course Tae wants to return. Of course Tae is happy. Of course Kyubey is wrong. Otae just feels guilty. Why would she ever want to leave.
I usually don't have a problem with the more problematic aspects of Gintama. Hell Kondos stalking is really funny and his interactions with Otae usually bring a smile to my face. But it really grinds my gears when Kyubey is suddenly criticised for something Kondo tries to do the whole time - just Otae likes Kyubey enough (even if it's not romantic love) that it makes her weak instead of angry.

in gintama ep 150, the yorozuya talked about how they should end their (fake ) final episode after defeating (ha) takasugi. around the 6th minute of the episode, there is a screen of burning edo & gintoki faced takasugi, both are battered up. then takasugi pulled out the sword that didn't look like his ( takasugi's doesn't have a guard ) and unsheathed it sexily
Tumblr media
so whose sword was that fake scenario sugi? did it belong to someone we know or did you loot it from some random corpses?
Tumblr media
i think the pattern of the guard looks like this
Tumblr media
does someone know whose sword has this pattern D:

Kamui's birthday 2024
Tumblr media
Before Kamui and Kagura had rekindled their sibling relationship, he didn't bother with his birthdays like when he was a kid. The only thing that had been on his mind was getting stronger. Things like birthdays seemed unnecessary for him. It had only brought back painful memories too of the birthdays he celebrated with his mother.
Now though, Kamui didn't really have a choice in the matter since it was Kagura that called him up and demanded he visit her. Truthfully, he had forgotten the day of his birthday given how many years he didn't celebrate it. The only reason he had realized it was coming up was with how she kept trying to ask him what kind of stuff he liked in not very subtle ways.
In all honesty, he thought it was cute. She was putting in so much effort because of that locket he gave her for her birthday back in November. Kamui recalls the way Kagura actually cried when he gave her that, then hugged him. He didn't expect such a reaction but it made him happy. Despite how mean he could be to her, he still cared a lot about her. Whenever they would spend time with each other, it made Kamui realize how much he had missed her over the years. Kagura obviously felt the same given the hell she went through for them to have this kind of relationship again.
"Hello?" Kamui dropped by the Odd Jobs place, where Kagura lived. Usually he'd think at least Gintoki would be around, but the poor guy deemed anytime Kagura's big brother visited as a good time to find a place to hide given the countless attempts to initiate a fight with him.
Since no one was around, he went ahead and rummaged through the fridge since he was hungry after the trip here.
"Ooooh, strawberry milk!" He saw the carton, and it said 'Property of Gintoki' written on it but that didn't stop him from grabbing it and downing it within seconds. There had been a few cartons and he really loved strawberry flavored things sooo.....
They were all emptied. Cartons tossed to the ground. There were a few other things in there as well, like onigiri, dangos, etc. Well, now they were gone. Lovingly placed inside his stomach.
Soon he'd feel an aggressive yank on his cape that startled him, and forced him out the fridge and onto the ground. A hand slammed the fridge shut.
Kamui looked up, surprised when seeing his little sister glaring down at him. "I'd appreciate it if you didn't eat all of our food, stupid."
He'd wipe the rice sticking to the sides of his face, shamelessly grinning up at her. "I was hungry, couldn't help it.''
''Get up before I decide to kick you in the head.'' She'd say with her arms crossed, glaring daggers at him. He did listen and stood up.
''You're soooo mean little sister.'' He faked a hurt looking expression,
''You're not one to talk big brother.'' Kagura spoke mockingly, with an eye roll. He laughed but then felt himself being pulled by the arm and pushed down on the sofa to sit.
''Alright, stay there. Don't eat or break anything, got it?'' She commanded, Kagura looked pretty serious so he knew to not disobey. He'd just smile innocently.
''Of course, of course. You know I always behave when coming over!'' Cue an annoyed huff when Kamui said that from Kagura,
''Yeah, keep telling yourself that. There's a reason Gin-chan is nowhere in sight when you visit.''
''Awww, is he afraid of me? Guess the so called fearsome white demon is actually a coward.'' Kamui looked amused while swinging his legs as he sat on the sofa.
''No, you're just annoying and violent. Anyway.....'' She went to the closet, rummaging through some stuff. Eventually she pulled out something that looked like a glass bowl?
Kamui stared over at her curiously, she carefully walked back over to him and placed the glass bowl on the small coffee table in front of him. He leaned in to look at it, and then his eyes widen.
''It's a terrarium. I made it myself. Of when we all lived on Rakuyo together. Me, you, mami and papi.'' Kagura went down on her knees, so she could glance closely at the terrarium. It had tiny versions of of everyone, and their house when they lived in the slums. The flower their mother loved was all around their home too, it was an extra detail she added since they both loved giving that flower their to mother all the time.
A friend of Kagura's had given her the idea, and she worked on it for a while. It took forever buying the materials. Kagura never did anything like this before either. Hell, she had bandages around all her fingers because some of the material pricked her skin. She wanted to make sure everything was perfect.
''Oh and I also made this.'' She handed him a card she made herself. Just like when they were younger. When Kamui looked at it, the front had rabbits on it, all resembling their family. Not just them though, it also included Kagura's earth family, and she also included Abuto.
Kamui opened it up and looked inside to see what she wrote:
Hey Kamui, happy birthday,
This is your first birthday we get to celebrate together since... well... everything that happened. I know I was really happy to celebrate my birthday with you. Honestly, you really didn't have to do all of that. Getting me a super expensive locket, and then spending all that money when taking me to the arcade with you? Idiot.
It was fun though. You're annoying but I really have a lot of fun whenever you visit. I always look forward to it, and kind of wish you'd move here so I can see you more often. You should consider that one day, I mean.... there's plenty of samurai you can fight here you know. You have that bitch from the Shinsengumi who I fully support you killing.
Anyway, I'm.... really happy to have you in my life again. I missed you a lot. I hope you know you're really important to me. I want you to take care of yourself, and care more about yourself. If anything were to happen to you..... It'll hurt a lot. So stop being stupid.
Let's just have fun today. I planned stuff out for us. I wanna make sure you enjoy your birthday to the fullest. Like you did for me on my birthday.
Kamui closed the card, and swallowed thickly. He'd look away as one of his bandaged covered hands covered his mouth. The card made him feel so many things at once. He'd start sniffling despite his efforts to prevent himself from crying.
''Cry baby.'' Kagura's insult broke the silence and she'd just look at him with a smug smirk.
He'd look back at her when taking his hand off his mouth, ''I'll kill you.''
''I'd like to see you try, when you're sitting there bawling like a little kid.''
The both of them just laughed it off, before Kamui sighed. ''Thanks. I always really liked whenever you made me things by hand.''
Kagura blinked at him surprise, ''Wait, really?''
He nods smiling, ''I still have the ones you made when we were younger. Your drawing skills were awful then, and they're awful now.'' Kamui looked at the front of the card with a snicker.
Kagura glared at him, ''If it's so awful give it back.''
''No.''
Kagura reached to try and grab it but Kamui held it out of her reach when standing up.
''Nah, I'm keeping it forever.'' He flicked her forehead, which was strong enough to force her back pretty far and make her fall.
Kagura huffed in defeat, ''You're really annoying, and here I thought we could have a nice time at that restaurant you wanted to go to. I stole Gin-chan's wallet and everything.''
Odd Jobs got paid pretty well during a recent job, and Kagura immediately took everything before Gintoki had a chance to dump it on gambling and sweets. Mainly because Kamui's birthday had been coming up.
''......Do you mean the one with the really spicy curry?'' He'd question, putting the card down on the table next to the terrarium.
''Yes.'' Kagura stood up, holding the wallet out which was fattened with plenty of cash within it.
''You should be nice to me if you wanna go there today.'' She smiled deviously at him.
Kamui walked over to her with the most fake smile she's ever seen on him.
''C'mon, would my adorable sister pleaseeeee show some mercy to her brother.'' He'd ruffle her hair and Kagura just gave him the most disgusted look afterwards.
''Don't do that. Stop. I'm going to puke.'' When he was nice like that, it made her want to gag. It was so cringey.
He sighs, then actually wears a more genuine smile. ''Whatever. But I am really happy after the stuff you gave me. Thanks a lot.''
Kagura put the wallet away in her pocket. ''Yeah, yeah. Let's just go. Afterwards we're coming back here for your party, I even invited that Abuto guy. You're close with him right?''
Kamui gave her a weird look, ''Abuto? No. He's just my vice commander, nothing else.''
She looked at him skeptically but knew there was no point fighting him on this. ''Anyway-''
She started leaving with him,
''Did you know during my fight with him, I took off half of that guy's ear?'' When Kagura mentioned that Kamui tried to hold back his laughter but failed.
''Seriously? That was you? I kept wondering what happened but every time I asked, he never answered.''
''Yeah, really wish I did more damage to that guy.''
''I ended up taking one of his arm's off.''
''Seriously? Why is it ALWAYS an arm you end up taking off? First papi, now this guy?''
''Blame him for stopping my fight with Housen, I was having fun when him and one of my other men had the nerve to jump in.''
''Housen?! Why the hell.....''
''Why not? I thought it'd be a fun fight. He was probably stronger than me at the time, buuuuut I wanted to challenge myself.''
They had kept chattering on with each other while heading to the restaurant, but after Kamui said that, Kagura stopped walking. She'd stare at the ground.
Kamui stopped as well, giving her a confused look until she finally spoke,
''.....If you keep doing that, you might die you know.''
He'd blink a few times, before exhibiting irritation. ''I usually win all my fights, it's not a big deal.''
''What if you go against someone who's way too strong for you? What then? Sure you learned and taught me Qiqong so we could alter our age and live longer but you could still die if you're injured too much, and you're always so reckless and you.....'' She started crying, sniffling and covering her eyes with her arm.
Kamui didn't expect his sister to start bawling like that, he stared at her surprised. He'd awkwardly rub the back of his head, ''You always tell me to go die anyway, woudn't that make you happier?''
He had been trying to lighten the mood by saying that, but he only made it worse. Kagura ripped her arm from in front of her eyes, glaring at him while tears fell down her face.
''You're an idiot! You KNOW whenever we tell each other that it's never serious! I didn't go through hell to get you back into my life JUST to tell you to kill yourself, what the hell is wrong with you?! There's seriously something wrong with y-'' She went to punch him but Kamui grabbed her fist and looked down at her,
''You know, sometimes, I do kind of wish I'd die during a fight.'' His words carried weight to them, yet he wore that usual smile of his, or rather the mask he'd give everyone.
''I wish that a lot actually.''
It didn't do anything to stop Kagura from crying though. If anything, it looked like his words hurt her more. ''...Why...? I don't want you to die. I want to celebrate more birthdays with you, I already missed so many of yours. Every time your birthday would pass, it'd hurt a lot... I'd think about when we were kids.... I'd think about that maybe I could have stopped you, maybe talked you out of leaving.... I'd blame myself a lot. We lost mami, but I also lost you. I lost two people.....''
She'd tremble, bringing her arm down when he let go of her. ''The big brother who took care of me when I was sick, when I was lonely, when I was bullied......''
Kagura looked up at him pleadingly, ''I know I sound selfish because you're hurting but... you continue keeping these things inside. We're family aren't we? Let me be there for you. C'mon Kamui. I don't want to lose you permanently.''
Her words cut deep, and it really rendered him silent. His features faltered, and he'd frown. Averting from her gaze, he'd sigh.
''Hey... how about once everything is over with today, I'll sit and talk to you. How about that?''It wasn't as if he hadn't tried opening up before, but he found it to be really difficult. He'd always end up getting pissed off or certain things were just too hard for him to speak about. He could always try again, for her sake and for his own.
''Really? Are you serious?'' She'd sniffle, trying to wipe her eyes with her sleeve. She'd look up at him hopefully.
''Yeah. She'd want that too right?'' Kamui asked before looking over at her,
''Of course she would! She loved you a lot, stupid! If not for me, do it for her! She wouldn't want you to join her anytime soon!'' Kagura would huff, though eventually smile after she settled down.
''So could you try and be more careful?''
''Yeah, yeah.... alright. Whatever. Can we just go get some curry? It's MY special day right?'' Kamui said with annoyance, ''I'm really hungry still.''
Kagura puffed out her cheeks, ''Don't forget who's going to be paying tonight. I don't have to get you anything and could just leave you starving while I eat like a queen.''
''We can always start the day with me bruising your face you know. Do you really want that?'' Cue the malicious smile he'd wear after saying that,
She faked a sniffle, ''My big brother is so abusive. Trying to ruin the beautiful face I inherited from mami. How dare you.....!''
Kagura was such a pain in the ass.
They went to the restaurant after that to celebrate Kamui's birthday. He couldn't help feeling grateful for her, since at the very least he knew she'd be the only person in the universe who would never give up on him.
No matter what.

I had a vision.
[Id. Gintama fanart. Two panels. 1. Hattori chan and Paako chan wearing a sailor school uniform, squatting on the floor next to each other. Hattori chan says "Skipping class again, Paako chan~?" and Paako answers "Hemorrhoids acting up again, Hattori chan~?" 2. The conversation continues as floating chibi heads, Hattori, flustered, exclaims "HEY!" and Paako, blowing bubblegum, says "oh, boo-hoo. Go cry to mommy." End Id.]

Hey! Idk if you do more angsty/bittersweet prompts, but I was wondering if you have headcanons for Gintoki, Okita and Hijikata, and how they would respectively deal with unrequited love? Maybe the person they like is pining for someone else or just isn't interested in romance. If not, then feel free to ignore this ^^ thank you!
Gintoki Sakata:
-He’s gonna scratch his balls and go on with his day as usual.
-Gintoki’s heart has gone through so much emotional damage that it became frozen cold.
-Doesn’t mean that Gintoki didn’t feel a stab in his chest when he saw you with someone else.
-He will distance himself for a while, but he always gonna be there if you need his help.
Toshirou Hijikata:
-Toshirou loves emotional pain like nobody else.
-He’ll laugh, one of those fake and rough ones, thinking that only he could fall in love with someone that will never see him that away.
-Toshirou will avoid you as much as he can; he can’t stand the feeling of his bleeding heart every time he meets your eyes.
Okita Sougo:
-What does it mean you aren’t interested in him romantically?
-It’s a thought that didn’t even cross his mind.
-And his insecurity surfaces stronger than before.
-He keeps both an eye on you and on the person you like at the moment, ready to strike at the first sign of weakness.
-When Okita has set his eyes on a target he doesn’t let go.
-And at the end, you will be the one on your knees asking to be together, not him

@jiraipink asked:
“  your nose is bleeding.  ” (Gintoki!)
BLOOD RELATED PROMPTS
Tumblr media
Every so often, he would go the ecchi route when reading manga. Gintoki didn't do it as often as the usual shounen he'd read, since most of the protagonists were teenagers. It was weird. Occasionally he would stumble upon a gem though.
The manga Gintoki had his hands on was pretty hot and heavy. Great art, and super hot female characters. With big breasts as well. Always a plus, since it was his preferred size. Women were a lot easier to deal with when they were fictional. No complications, no arguments, nothing. Because they were fake. You could stare at them all you wanted too.
One of the women in this series was especially good looking, he kept ogling every page she appeared on pretty intensely. Then came a page with the old cliche of the protagonist walking in on the woman undressing. They had a pretty detailed panel of her body, and Gintoki couldn't help but evoke a deep breath since it stirred something in him. The dumbest look was on his face too. Although, he hadn't expected to have anyone talk to him and nearly jumped when hearing Namida's voice. Gintoki hadn't even noticed the blood trickling down his nose either.
"Oh. Its you." He'd wipe the blood away, "Huh, hadn't noticed." His gaze had briefly looked her up and down as if checking her out for a moment there. However, there was an immediate chill down his spine that told him he'd probably die if he did that again. It's a good thing no one else was here.
Tumblr media
"Kagura and her crazy brother left a little while ago to eat somewhere, so you won't find them here and I'm not really interested in talking to you. Kind of busy, if you haven't noticed." Gintoki didn't particularly dislike Namida, but he was hoping to enjoy the quietness that came with the kids not being around. She was ruining that.

have you guys read the athrabeth, it’s a socratic dialogue about mortality starring two blorbos from tolkien’s (please keep reading) from tolkien’s mind, gertrude robinson (F 67) and glorfinberen the sexy, (M ~2500) it has bitchy footnotes by bilbo and a romantic subplot (gfb’s little brother is gertrude’s tragic ex) the academic term elfsplaining was coined in a paper about the athrabeth. the quote ‘do candles pity moths or moths candles’ is from this text. the elf is a 17 yo looking warlord and he keeps tutoyering grandma to her immense annoyance. why am i posting this on the gintama blog well because i think this should be a fanfic format. john ronald reuel tolk himself sat down and thought, i want to fantasise about my favourite catholic doctrines, time to create a fake text detailing a fight between my hottest philosopher king barbie and strongest GILF and let it be in-universe translated by frodo’s gay uncle. none of these words are made up this is literally what the athrabeth is. and i think we should be writing gintama the final as a socratic dialogue between gintoki and utsuro as translated by oboro (the ex is takasugi). we should be writing athrabeth tama ah utsuro that takes place in the yorozuya living room during new years, they are both tipsy and keep kicking gintoki, who is on the floor (asleep/dead/unconscious), back under the desk
