The yule lads are very interesting to me, being called out specifically as regional santa claus figures despite their primary story being about causing mischief. Apparently they put little gifts in good kids shoes, and rotten potatoes in bad kids shoes, but this doesn't seek connected to their original characterization, or how much more brutal their mother is.

Lately, I’ve been drawn to florals and organic textures, letting that inspiration bloom in this piece. She doesn’t have a name yet, but she might just become one of the new T-shirt designs I’m working on.

Inspired to draw that scene from Team StarKid's Cinderella's Castle. (+a surprise Sir Hop-A-Lot and Crumb under the cut.)

The lighting on that set then (bright green with deep blue on the side) was so good that I had a strong impulse to just try and capture how I was envisioning the scene playing out in an illustrated fairytale-esque forest-scape-y thingy.

I really want to draw a Cinderella moment next - so hard to pick a specific scene!! I'll be thinking about it as I catch up on work rn. Hopefully I can get to it some time tonight. I did do a quick sketch of Rancilda that I'll post soon though!

It's been a wild couple of weeks, but I'm coming out the other side feeling energized~

Clara and her nutcracker 💗

I love The Nutcracker so much I had to draw some art for it this year! I was inspired by the Pygmalion & Galatea myth (Clara bringing him to life) and also the “true love’s kiss” trope in fairytales.

(I hope the story is clear from the drawings- essentially Clara kisses him and he comes to life. He kisses her back but it surprises her because she didn’t expect him to actually come to life!)
