FUCKING AU TIME
AU where Maleficent raises Maleficent the same way she did in the 2014 movie with Aurora (however I fucking hate that movie and need to repurpose the concept to something I do like)
Since the mirrormaker hates Grimhilde so much, I don’t see him taking care of her that well. In canon I have no idea how Grimhilde survived living with no one but her father who refused to take care of her— honestly her Grandma probably raised her.
But in this AU Maleficent finds out about Grimhilde in one way or another (most definitely from the odd sisters telling her about her) she probably worried for her because she was being unattended to the same was Maleficent was as a baby, so she likely starts taking care of her by coming to rock her to sleep when she’s crying in the night. I imagine it being similar to a lot of the scenes in the 2014 movie, she might send Diablo to rock and feed Grimhilde.
She’s probably keep a watchful eye on Grimhilde throughout their childhood, making sure she stays out of trouble. Eventually they’d meet and it’d be pretty similar to Aurora and Maleficent’s relationship in the 2014 movie (minus the curse and Aurora being a princess lmao)

you tell me the sun is shining in paradise // if i believe you
apollo! art x devotee reader
tw for religion, mentions of sacrifice but not like death, smut, lowkey manipulative art a little? kinda got freaky sorry <3
you’d never been religious- too many mornings forced to behave in a church pew had steered you clear of the organization of it all. but sometimes, late at night, when you were at your lowest, you just needed someone. someone beyond this, someone to make it all worthwhile, to bring it all to reason. the folklore and mythology course you took your freshman year of college was the first time it occurred to you; it didn’t have to be a singular god, it could be an entire institution, an entire universe of higher beings, webs weaved by hands you’d never touch. that’s where it started, the journey that led you to him.
you’d had a bad few months- a bad year, truthfully- and you were isolated, at a university thousands of miles from home, with no real friends to turn to. your only real solace became the courtyard outside of your dormitory building, the small patch of grass where the sun shined despite the near constant cover of clouds. the warmth of the sunbeams on your skin became a safe haven, the sanctity of your little spot untouched by any outside factors. there, you could be anyone you wanted. you could be silent, you could cry, get angry, anything you needed. the prayers started three weeks into your sophomore year. a bad year had led to an even worse new semester, with your grades falling and your attention slipping. you lived your life through intricate fantasies, daydreaming of a life far away from your own. you’d make your way to the small courtyard, away from any prying eyes, and lay out a small blanket, decorating it with tarot cards you’d learned to read back home, and small offerings you’d researched in the campus library.
athena was first. who better to cure your failing grades? but there was no connection, no comfort, just the cold isolation of praying to a god who would never extend their hand. then aphrodite; if you couldn’t be great, you could at least be loved, desired. she, too, was fruitless. days turned to weeks, and you felt as if you’d reached anywhere you could, turned every page. but then, apollo. where better to find your patron than in the haze of the sun, his very own sigil? you laid out your altar- the sun tarot card you’d always felt a special connection to, scribbled out sheet music for your favorite song, pages torn from your favorite novel. the connection was immediate, all consuming, a fire burning within you. it felt as if you’d been asleep your entire life until this moment. he’d settled, curled inside your chest, made a home that you never knew to miss.
you started to see him everywhere. in the trees as they blew in the summer breeze, in the plants that bloomed facing the sky, in the philosophy your professor preached every tuesday afternoon. he was your lifeline, running through your veins, as much apart of you as your earthly family. worship came easy to someone like apollo, the fairest god of them all, the welcomer of the lonely. he flew his carriage to the sun, and delivered you from darkness, one afternoon at a time.
next came the blonde headed boy on campus. he was warmth incarnate, bright hair and brighter eyes, sunkissed skin and a freckled nose, tall and clumsy, like he hadn’t yet learned to operate this body properly. you saw him between classes, eyeing you from across the courtyard, always close enough to see but never enough to touch. in any other situation, you’d have been afraid, unnerved. but his presence brought you peace, enveloped you with a sense of belonging that could only be found when you were placed at the center of someone’s routine, a stop in their walk through the day.
you finally gathered the courage too approach one particularly warm afternoon, your typical anxiety seeming to fade away the closer you got to him, to knowing him. “hi,” it was simple, a start, and you extended a hand for him to shake, hoping it didn’t look foolish, “i’ve seen you around,” his hand on yours was enough to take the breath from your lungs, setting your skin alight, waking you up all over again, “i’ve seen you, too. i’m art,” you wanted to tell him it was ironic that someone so beautiful, so awe inspiring, would be named art, for that was what he appeared to be. “are you new here?” you asked, meeting his eyes, taking note of the broken color in one iris, the blue making way for a golden brown. “yes,” he nodded, a small smile on his lips, like he knew a secret, “very new. and you?” “no, i’m on my second year,” you returned the smile-it felt like the only natural response, “well it was nice to meet you, art. hopefully i’ll see you around?” “yes, i hope so,”
you continued to visit the courtyard, continued to think of apollo, but each day, you felt your thoughts sneaking back to art. with each picture in your mind of your patron god, art’s face came to the forefront of your mind, his coy smile and radiating eyes, the warmth of his hand in yours. a form of guilt had started to make a home inside of you with each thought of him, and soon your prayer requests turned to apologies. how could you lose sight of apollo, of all he’d done for you, over some boy? some boy you hardly knew, especially. “do forgive me,” you blinked up at the sky, cheeks warm, “you have extended a kindness to me that i have not forgotten, i will not lose sight of it,”
when you opened your eyes again, art was standing over you, the sun rays casting a halo around his glowing hair. “forgive you for what?” he asked, his voice ringing with familiarity. “oh!” you startled, placing a hand on your chest, “i’m sorry, that wasn’t meant for you, i should go,” you gathered your things quickly, but failed to locate your beloved sun card, looking around frantically. it was placed between his fingers, his thumb tracing over the man and the sun almost lovingly, a sort of longing in his pale eyes. “not unto everyone doth apollo appear,” his voice was soft, quiet, “but unto him, that is good,” “what?” your breath hitched, “what did you say?” when you reached for him, he was gone, the card in his hands gone with him. next to you, on the blanket, lie a new card in it’s place. the lovers.
you didn’t see him for days. you struggled, attempting to grasp what you’d seen, coming up empty each time. surely this boy, this man that had stood just in front of you, real as anything, was not apollo. and if he was, by some miracle, what would he want with you? deities did not come down to earth for nothing, you knew. and you, in the grand scheme of things, were nothing. you were just another lost soul, searching for some sort of anchor, some fabric of the universe to tether yourself to. you’d start to lose hope, contemplated throwing away everything you’d collected for your altar, starting anew and leaving this chapter behind. he gave you space and time, waiting until your last moment of desperation to appear to you again.
“you called for me,” his voice startled you from your daydreaming, standing right in front of you, alone in your dorm. “what?” your brows knit, “i didn’t- i barely know you,” “you know me,” his hand rested on your cheek then, warm and painfully cool all at once, “don’t you remember? i heard your prayers, heard you beckoning for my return. i was made of the god of light, i first tasted of him love and sweetness. my hands will keep the gold they took of him.” goosebumps raise on your arms when he quotes your words back to you, the false solitude crumbling around you. “you were there?” the words come out weak, vulnerable. “my darling, i am everywhere,” he practically hums, running a thumb over your jaw, “i am in the trees, in the wind as it carries fallen pedals onto your lap, in the sunshine as it kisses freckles onto your face. don’t you recognize me? i am here,” his hand comes to tap against your chest, over the beat of your heart, “i am flowing through your veins. from the moment you prayed to me, i have been one with you, carrying you through this life,”
“oh,” your eyes fall closed, skin tingling with pleasure at the simplest touch, his hand ghosting over your throat, down to the crook of your shoulder. “you’ve dedicated yourself to me,” he sounds so sure, so certain, “did you mean it? that you’d do anything for me?” “yes,” you don’t have to think twice before you nod; you’ve never meant anything more. “good,” you can practically hear the smile in his voice, “i’m sure your mythology courses have taught you the way things go. god’s don’t come to earth, not just for a simple prayer. but you? you were worth descending for,” you look up at him with baited breath, “but why me?” “i’ve grown fond of you, in the way that you speak, the way you pledge yourself to me, the way you ask for help but never demand. i had to meet you, had to be with you,” his eyes fall to the various worship objects littering your room, the melted candles and dusty tarot cards, the sketch you’d done of him days after seeing him for the first time. “so devoted,” he murmured, “my most cherished subject,”
in the back of his mind, he knew this was wrong. gods didn’t take human lovers, didn’t indulge in the forbidden fruit, didn’t take what was so easily disposable to them. but he’d grown a soft spot for you, abandoned all of his virtue and taken this earthly form, for nothing more than a chance at this very moment, at your bleary, impressionable eyes staring up at him like you were waiting on a sign. “i’ll give you something to believe in,” he murmured, leaning down so his lips were inches from yours, “if you’ll let me,” “i believe in you,” your voice was painfully sweet, chilling him to the bone, your hand coming to take his. his breath hitched as you led his hand to your chest, placing it just over your heart, “you have given it a reason to beat,” you said it like a secret, like a sin, “i’ll be yours, in whatever way you want me to be,”
he stood, fully, ready to flee. this was too much, even for him, to take a girl so empty, so broken, to turn her into something new. but then you were pulling at his jeans, eyes sparkling, sinking to your knees on the plush carpet at the foot of your bed. “oh,” his hand came to your hair, watching as your trembling hands stripped him, your lips parting as you glanced up at him. “i have prayed for this,” his mind fleeted back to your prayers, the part of his brain devoted to memorizing them, and came up empty. you hadn’t prayed to him for this, surely, he’d recall. “you did not,” his voice was hoarse, “i would have heard you,” “not to you,” you pressed a kiss to his thigh, startling him, “to aphrodite. i prayed she would make me beautiful enough for you to take me. i guess she finally listened to something,” and then your mouth was on him, wet and warm, staggering his confidence as he watched his cock slide between your lips.
you were nothing if not meticulous, your tongue running along his veins, eliciting sounds from him that he couldn’t recall ever making. your eyes never left his face, watching his every reaction, even as you took him down your throat, even as tears beaded your vision. he was entranced, awestruck, holding your hair like a vise as you laved at his cock, greedy and effervescent. “stop,” he had to force the word out, already taut with pleasure, his skin hot and flushed, “let me touch you, darling,” you hesitated, like you didn’t want this to stop, until he gently pulled you back, exhaling roughly as he watched you wipe your lips as he helped you back onto your bed.
your clothes were gone in an instant, his hands working quickly to rid you of them, desperate to admire you fully. “beautiful creature,” he murmured, trailing his fingers over your curves, “divine,” he laid you back, your hair splaying out around you in a curtain as he kissed down your neck, hovering over your chest for a moment before taking one of your nipples into his mouth just enough to have you mewling, your back arching. one hand came to the other, rolling it between his fingers, pulling louder, more breathless sounds from you. his free hand slipped between your thighs, breath hitching when he found you slick and hot, moaning incessantly when he ghosted his fingertips over your clit. your legs fell open, eager for more, your hips bucking slightly into his hand.
he backed down the length of your bed, nestling between your thighs, watching you through blonde lashes as he buried his face in your cunt, lapping at you hungrily. “oh!” you gasped, hands flying to his hair, holding it tightly, “art- apollo, oh my god,” he grinned against you, sucking at your clit as he eased a finger inside of you, nearly moaning as you took him in greedily. he added another when you relaxed, curling them experimentally, satisfied when you cried out, your thighs squeezing around his shoulders. “gonna-“ you cut off with a moan, clenching around his fingers, his tongue never slowing as he worked you through it. he laved at you, grinding against the mattress as his desperation grew, slowly withdrawing his fingers and gazing up at you as he sucked them clean.
your cheeks glowed, eyes shiny and half lidded as he crawled back up to you, sitting on his knees between your still parted legs. “gorgeous,” he hummed, leaning down to kiss you, hard and heavy. your arms wrapped around him, holding him tight as you kissed him back, whimpering into his mouth when his fingers teased your clit again. “take me,” you whispered, resting your forehead on his, chest heaving, “please, i’m yours,” his eyes nearly rolled back at the sound of your begging, and he nodded, kissing your jawline, “mine,” he murmured, one hand going down to rub his cock against you, biting back a moan at the wetness he found there, “so ready for me, angel,”
“please,” your eyes fell closed, your lips parted, “oh, art,” he eased into you, slow and steady, trembling with self restraint as he let you adjust, feeling you fluttering around him, “so desperate for me,” he grit out, slowly pulling out before thrusting into you again, watching your reactions closely, like he needed to memorize them. you were a mess beneath him, panting and moaning, writing when his pace quickened. “art, so good,” you mewled, eyes rolled back. “apollo,” his voice was hoarse and rough, “call me by the name you pray to. watch me while i undo you,”
you were obedient as ever, your eyes opening enough for him to watch your pupils dilate, “apollo, my god, thank you,” you looked close to tears from pleasure, “thank you, thank you,” “good,” he could feel the pressure building, impossibly close to the brink, “tell me you’re mine, pledge yourself to me,” he was making a horrible mistake, taking advantage of you, but he didn’t care, couldn’t care when you were sprawled out like this, moaning like a slut, all for him. “i’m yours,” you nodded, quick and eager, “all yours, apollo, my life is yours,” “oh, darling,” he groaned, twitching inside of you. you pulled him back into a kiss, and he lost it, coming inside of you with a shudder and a flurry of muffled moans.
he slowed down before stilling, pulling out of you slowly, sitting back just enough to watch the mess spill out of you, his eyes rolling back. god, he could be condemned for this. “was i good?” your voice pulled him from his thoughts, soft and vulnerable. “oh, of course,” he nodded, laying beside you, pulling you close, “you were perfect, darling. a goddess divine,” he pressed kisses to your cheeks and against your hair, breathing you in, savoring the moment he was sure could never last. “thank you,” you murmured, leaning into his chest, “i love you,” he knew it wasn’t true- you loved the image of him, the deity, the physical form he’d taken to come here to you. but then he remembered all the days you’d cried to him, alone and helpless, begging him to bring you some form of happiness. he’d indulge you, for now. “i love you too,” he mumbled, “get some rest, darling,”
he stayed until you were fast asleep, trying his hardest not to think too long on the things he’d suffer when he returned to the sky. he’d take it, for you, take the scrutiny, take the pain. maybe he’d be stripped of his title, be sent to earth in this form forever. then, he thought distantly, he could be with you, no consequences.

ngl I got so caught off-guard by Silver's Relaxation Room outfit-
like they just supersized Aurora's face, slapped it onto the sweater and called it a day 😭😭
It doesn't look bad though, the colours are soft and complement each other mostly well. Though now I do wonder what the backstory of it is; correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is the first time we see a Disney Princess image explicitly in the game, as opposed to vague references/anecdotes?
is she another revered figure, or a famous film character in the in-game universe? I do hope Silver's vignette will acknowledge his PJ origins 😅
I was expecting a sweater on Silver for his Relax in Room card, but not that particular design... I find it sorta ugly (colors are fine, but that design is no for me), but in that somewhat endearing way?? Like how people find ugly Christmas sweaters fun. It also very much fits Silver, who doesn't have much fashion sense (though the voice lines confirm it's a gift from Lilia, which also makes sense, given his penchant for cute, novel items.
And nope! This actually isn't the first time we've seen a Disney Princess depicted outside of references and anecdotes. There has previously been furniture items that outright show the princesses and/or heroes, such as the limited time A Firelit Sky statue, "Fireworks Admirers" (although there is no story or history attached with the statue).
More explicitly, the Platinum Jacket series of vignettes shows multiple Disney princesses and heroes in addition to villains via paintings. Often times, the NRC boys will comment on the artwork and/or talk about a brief story related to it.
The Three Good Fairies appear in Trey's vignettes:
He notes that it is a depiction of "fairies gifting magic to celebrate the birth of a princess of a certain country." However, we cannot see the princess in question from the shot of this painting.
All of the Diasomnia Platinum Jacket cards do feature Aurora in some way though, and 3 out of the 4 of them very clearly show her face. Lilia sees the same painting as Trey did, lamenting that the fairies blessed the princess with beauty and song instead of the strength to break her own curse.
Sebek witnesses a painting of Aurora in her peasant dress, before she learned of her birthright as a princess. He describes the artwork as "a human chatting with some animals [...] about her dreams" and says that he saw this scene in a book his grandfather gifted him.
Malleus sees a painting of Prince Phillip and Princess Aurora dancing at the ball. He recognizes her as "the princess blessed by diurnal fae" but doesn't state more about her history than that. So it seems like the story of Princess Aurora and the Three Good Fairies are recognized to be from the same tale.
Finally, we have Silver, who sees the same painting as Malleus does. He implies the painting is "well-known" and that it depicts a scene from a storybook that he often read as a child. (So both he and Sebek mention seeing this princess in a book; is it the same book, or different books based on the same material?)
Silver also characterizes Phillip as someone who fought bravely. Because of that, he came to admire the prince and aspired to be like him someday.
At this point in time, all that we know about Aurora's standing in the Twst world (not counting anecdotes; these are strictly tied only with visual depictions of her) is:
She is a princess blessed by diurnal fae at her birth
She danced with a brave prince
She speaks with animals about her dreams
Her story is written in books
Aurora must be an important historical figure in some way, as she is depicted multiple times in the Land of Dawning's National Museum of Art alongside the likes of the Great Seven and their henchmen. It's not too strange that she has storybooks about her; we know thanks to Tapis Rouge that it seems normal for people to make creations based on Twisted Wonderland's historical figures. For example, the Fairest Queen has had an animated film and now a live action made in her name and the Card Soldiers were similarly in a children’s book from the Queendom.
In case you were wondering, Silver's Relax in Room vignettes do not talk about the princess or the character depicted on his sweater. It's just the usual bedtime + morning routines and responding to the school survey that have been depicted in all previous Relax in Rooms.

They end up in a universe where the two of you hate each other [Twst]
˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗SYNOPSIS: The two of you are happily dating and he couldn’t have asked for anything else, however, one day he finds himself in a strange place only to find that here the two of you are enemies.
♡︎Includes: Vil and Idia
[AU Masterlist]
[Riddle and Leona] ☆[Azul and Jamil] ☆[Here] ☆[Malleus]
⋆⋅☆Vil
The fate of this Vil had been written. Consumed by rage, he would impulsively order Neige's execution, but his plan would unravel, leading to his own downfall and demise.
──── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ────
Vil shivers upon learning of such a fate. He once succumbed to the same temptation, and despite his continued disdain for Neige, he is relieved he didn't harm him that day. As a noble known for his beauty, people from around the world used to travel just to witness his ephemeral charm. However, with Neige's arrival, his admirers slowly vanished, deeming Neige more enchanting.
Attempting to maintain his composure, Vil struggles against the storm raging within his mind. Even in this realm, his spotlight had been taken. Can't he, just once, be the fairest of them all?
One day, an invitation arrives, sent by Neige himself. Vil hesitates before deciding to attend the party. He meticulously prepares himself, aiming to make a lasting impression and prove everyone wrong about Neige being better than him. What he didn't anticipate was finding you there.
Observing you always standing by Neige's side, dressed like a guard, Vil can't help but admire you. You resemble a knight in shining armour, yet he can't ignore the glances you give Neige whenever he interacts with you. They mirror the looks you used to give Vil back in his universe. He struggles to restrain himself before confronting Neige.
"I know you're jealous Neige took your spot," a familiar voice interrupts his thoughts. Vil turns to see you, your eyes cold and your voice distant. In this life, you grew up with Neige, childhood friends who shared a deep bond. You recall the day when someone, envious of Neige, inflicted a grievous injury that left him bedridden. That day, you vowed to be his protector, his knight.
"Oh, please. It isn't that I'm jealous," Vil responds, his mouth speaking freely, cursing himself for letting slip his true feelings. For in his heart, you are still the one he loves. His jealousy now isn't about Neige stealing his beauty spotlight, but about stealing you away from him.
⋆⋅☆Idia
The fate of this Idia had been written. He was a deity seeking revenge from the others who had confined him in this dark land. As he executed his revenge plan, he would fail, only to never see the light of day again.
──── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ────
Idia missed his alone time, for as soon as his eyes opened, he found himself surrounded by people treating him like some god. They would light fires for him, sacrificing lambs in his name. How much he wished Ortho was there to blast these weird people and help him go back home, but alas, he was alone with no Ortho or you in sight. His days were spent hearing people ask him to curse others, wishing death upon them. Even though he knew he had the power to do so, he found himself unable to function properly in front of all these people until the Ortho from this universe showed up.
He watched in disbelief as Ortho looked just like a normal person. Idia ran to hug his brother, tears daring to spill from his eyes, relieved that at least here, his brother had been fine.
Even if it sounded crazy, Ortho believed every word Idia stated. Idia explained that he had come from another universe, and the two of them began thinking of a way to bring him back to his original universe.
Amidst all the chaos of his days, he watched as, once again, his worshippers prepared another ritual. However, his face paled when, instead of a lamb, he saw those people bring you, tied up. He saw the hatred in your eyes as you squirmed, trying to untie your limbs. Everyone kept holding you down, and he couldn't watch anymore. He shouted at them to stop, a feeling of rage consuming him, hair turning red, at seeing you in such a state. They brought you over to him, and even though he had just saved you and kneeled to touch your face with such tenderness, to all of the worshippers' surprise, you kept looking at him with eyes filled with rage.
“You are an excuse for a god.” There was irritation and disgust present in your voice as you looked at him. Idia himself would have never believed he would see such an expression forming on your face, especially directed at him. He gulped, unsure of what to say, as he felt his heart shatter.
“Please, please don’t look at me like that…” His voice had been nothing more than a pleading whisper as he could not stand the thought of you hating him.

The Astrology Behind: Miss Universe 2024
I know that beauty posts are an obsessive topic in the Astrology community, as much as it is in any other type of content that predominantly women engage with, and I've realized that the more you learn the more you notice that every sign and nakshatra have their own type of beauty.
Now, there's definitely a few that tend to stand out when it comes to competing in "who's the fairest of them all?"
From a general perspective, these placements, signs, and nakshatras are what we would expect to see:
Venus conjunct Moon or Sun
Venus in 1st, 7th, 10th
Venus in Taurus/Libra
Taurus/Libra ascendant
Venus nakshatra on ASC, Moon, or Sun
AL with aspecting Venus, being in Taurus/Libra or in Venus nakshatra
There are many astrologer enthusiast who study the impact of astrology on someone's appearance, Claire Nakti being one of the most well known behind these studies, and many others who constantly contribute towards this topic.
Now, is it really true for modern standards such as Miss Universe 2024 to find the signs and naks mentioned earlier? Let's take a look...
Note: please keep in mind that these are sidereal calculations, and out of the 130 contestants I was sadly only able to find half (65) of the birthdates. So, please be mindful that it's definitely not a complete research, and many other signs, nakshatras, or placements could overturn these results.
As we can see from these results, Venus influence is definitely an important factor and also its exaltation sign (Pisces). Gemini and mercury appeared a lot as well in Sun and Venus placements, which makes sense considering they must have a youthful appearance, playful demeanor, and express themselves eloquently. In terms of nakshatra though, Mars seemed to have a lot of dominance in the Moon signs giving a sexy, bold, or courageous appeal to the contestants.
Saturnians (Capricorn and Aquarius) also appear a lot in almost every category, except for Mars. These women tend to have a sharp, commanding, and timeless type of beauty that simply makes them stand out a lot. They are hardworking and focused, which is needed in order to achieve success of any kind.
In terms of results that REALLY grabbed my attention was definitely Mars in Libra, wow. It completely dominated in almost all of these beautiful women. Again, it seems that when it comes to their actions and drive there must be a sense of harmony, elegance, and appeal. I personally think Mars is what makes them have "that walk"!
From aspects observations, the Mars-Rahu and Mars-Pluto ones kept on sticking out like a sore thumb. This goes along with needing to have an extreme headless drive towards everything that's illusory (Rahu) and a shocking factor (Pluto) of some sort. To me, this is the "I'm very competitive" aspect and mixing it with Mars being in Libra "I need to be elegant and poised", it just clicks perfectly for a "I must be THE most beautiful and driven towards beauty" type of attitude.
Anyways, hope this was an enjoyable and fun research to read! Please remember that all signs and nakshatras have their own beauty, but not all of them want to compete for it or even show it off.

Adar is one of the best things that happened to The Lord of The Rings universe and let me explain why.
So, I've read The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit – a long time ago – but I've seen the movies a few times. I have never read The Silmarillion or other Tolkien works related to this universe but I think it doesn't matter in what I want to say either way because I focus on the way we perceive things about this universe in the most popcultural way and I think The Lord of The Rings movies and books are the most popcultural phenomenon out of Tolkien works and most people know only them.
So, the way the Orcs are portrayed in these is... deeply concerning and I've never thought of it until Adar. But you see, they are treated as the lowest form of life that doesn't even deserve to live – a dangerous, mindless and aggressive piece of meat that has to be killed to clear the path. And I understand why the characters think this way about them but I wish there was more philosophy around them in the books and movies.
This universe teaches us we don't get to decide who deserves to live and who deserves to die. That even the trees should be respected like every other alive being. And yet the Orcs are treated like the lowest form of life that don't get the same amount of compassion. And all of that in a story that is about destroying the tyrant and the evil that Sauron is. He doesn't care about any life and he wishes to annihilate whatever is on his way to ultimate power. And yet, the characters who are supposed to fight him have a similar mindset to him when it comes to the Orcs – they're a filthy race that should be wiped out of this world.
And I've never even thought about it – the way the Orcs are being treated and perceived. Not until Adar. And I think it really adds a lot of depth to this whole universe. As I said, I don't know every work by Tolkien and maybe he was talking about it in some letters or notes but that is not the knowledge that made it to the popculture.
I especially like the fact that the Orcs indeed are not portrayed as good at heart. They truly give you reasons to hate them and yet, you get to have this moral conflict because... Does it really give you the right to want to annihilate their whole race? The Rings of Power is asking the right questions with this plotline. That scene where Galadriel – one of the mightiest and fairest of all Elves – threatens Adar that she is going to kill all of his children, that they are a mockery, that she is going to make sure he sees and hears them suffering... It was thrilling in the best kind of way.

PJO ≠ Greek Mythology
I can't believe I have to say this but I swear by the gods, the next time I see a pjo fan saying "the gods can be easily overthrow. This is canon on riondanverse and in greek mythology" or "yes. Mortals, specially demigods can win a fight against the olympians and easily defeat them. It happend on greek mythology. So it is plausible for Percy overthrow Zeus." I'm gonna riot.
You want a story where Percy takes down Olympus? Ok! There may be fics on ao3. You want a fic where Zeus is taken out of his crown and someone else takes his place? Fine. There may be fics on ao3 with this premise. I may hate this take, and I won't read it. But if you like, go ahead.
The riondanverse barely scratches the greek mythology correctly. The Gods are marely réplicas of the tales of Old. They dont match with their myths - since Riordan basically blanded one myth on the other, or created a few himself. - The PJO Gods are not a source for greek mythology, they dont properly represent their importance, much less their complexity, nuance and power.
So stop. Just stop spreading misinformation about Mythology - which u know nothing about if you are saying those things - or using it as a basis to your takes.
The Gods, the Olympian Counsil cannot be "easily" overthrow in any possible way. Using the idea "Zeus did that with Khronos so it is easy" is literally absurd. Zeus is a God. He has always been a God. He was born a God.
Only a God can fight another one and win. And a mortal - including demigods - can only harm a God with divine help - which usually is Athena's helping them. - No God can overthrow Zeus powerwise, let alone a mere mortal (Im looking at you, Epic fans). He is the King of Gods for a reason. That is a fact in greek mythology.
But if you want a good idea of "dethrone Zeus" trope acordding to Hesiod, there was a prophecy one of Zeus children would be the one to do it. When Zeus learned about it, he pushed a Khronos and devoured one his pregnant wives, Métis. Athena was still born from his head though.
Do you know what he did to Athena? Nothing. She is his favorite kid. He kept doing it? Also no. He never did that again. And all his god children were welcome in Olympus. Even Dionysus - who was born a mortal and ascended. Even Heracles, who became a minor god.
+ the "overthrown" of Zeus wouldnt happen. Zeus is - according to greek mythology - the fairest of the kings. I dont care if you don't like Zeus because for your modernized view on ancient tales "he is evil". He is a good king and that is a fact in Greek Mythology. You like it or not. He is not a tyrant. And he is not considered a Tyrant in mythology either. Another reason for one of his wives be Themis - Justice.
By the end of the day, getting out of Myth and going into their philosophy and theology.
The Gods are literally a representantion of the Cosmos and natural law. They are not "beings with too much power". Hades is the underworld. Poseidon is the nature. Zeus is the heavens. More than that, Zeus is the one who brought harmony to the universe - the oikos. Without him, everything we know about crumbles.
And Zeus children are the parts of human society. The pillars of "civilization". Apollo is art and healing. Hermes is communications and commerce. Athena is strategy and warfare. Hephaestus is technology. Ares is conflict/war and bloodthirsty. And there you go.
All the Gods represent the "good" and "bad" aspects of their domains. + They also reflect the human nature. That is why they are "flawed". That is why they are way more complex in the myths. Why they make good and bad decisions. Why they sometimes are kinder, why sometimes they are crueler.
Overthrow the Olympians mythwise? Would be the end of the life as we know of. The end of civilization. If there would be human life by the end of it.
Stop saying shit u don't know about only to support your takes on a greek-american fanfiction written by an American man.
#pjo#greek mythology#im honestly so tired of seeing thess kind of comments#“meh it happens in greeks Mythology” that is a fucking lie dude#idc if you hate pjo gods#i get it#but dont come with takes about greek mythology if you have never opened a book about it and studied the subject you are talking about#i usually see it a lot - on tik tok and on tumblr#but the last straw was reading a fanfic in which the author tries to portrate them more accurate to the myths#and there were people hating on the comments? saying “actually the gods can be easily overthrown in greek mythology” 🤓#no they cant and you are being so lound and so wrong hating on someone on fucking ao3#about something u clearly dont know about#percy jackson and the olympians#percy jackson#pjo gods#pjo gods ≠ real greek mythology

hey since scoundrel is Become Bat what sort of war crimes will SHE partake in? Y'know. To fit in with the evil bad family. The family of evil bats.
i know it's just a typo but "evil bad family" is perhaps the truest and realest description of the masters ive ever seen. found family but all of them suck and hate each other and don't want to be here, god bless <3
as for her preferred genre of war crimes, well... ive alluded to it a number of times already. simply put, the scoundrel follows the "canon" blueprint for power ending characters, which means she eventually takes the title of Mr Cards.
in practice, this means she's a master (and notorious hoarder) of deception and probability. the CEO of gambling, essentially. lotteries, casinos, card games, gacha games- you name it, she owns it. she isn't very influential now, but come the neon future?
...there's no better way to put it than saying she's a master of addiction. specifically the sort of insidious, commonplace addiction we have regarding microtransactions in the modern day. think of all the times people have been hit with FOMO over a limited-time event, or all the stories of people going bankrupt over genshin impact pulls. the scoundrel thrives off of that. she uses her natural charisma to entice people into playing all sorts of perfectly polished luck-based games, where you're never strictly forced to spend money, but there's always just enough stinginess to make you want to spend just a little bit more. just one more roll of the dice. just one more round at the slots. just one more draw of the cards.
he's very popular, in-universe. people claim he's the fairest master of them all. and he is! no other master is so kind, so generous, so convincing. he just wants to entertain. he just wants to spread joy. can you really deny such an earnest dream? of course you should spend all you have to support him! he needs it! he deserves it! just one more small purchase, just one more lucky roll. it's just enough to keep you going. it's just enough to keep the world going.
you can't stop. you won't stop. she's convinced you that you don't want to ever stop. sure, sometimes you blink and you've spent nearly 40 grand chasing a single lootbox item, but who cares? who hasn't? you've already invested so much time, so much energy, so much of your life- you can't stop now. you're nothing without this. you're nothing without her.
and then your wallet is empty, and she abandons you, and you're nothing at all. but it's not her fault. it's never her fault. she just wants to entertain. she deserves the world.
won't you give it to her?
also, she runs multiple establishments that are just straight-up the lotus casino from percy jackson. with time dilation and unlimited money and addictive products and everything. she's kind of extremely shameless about it.
#ask#there's a lot of different interpretations of mr cards as a title#some (most) way cooler than my own#this is just what it means for the scoundrel ;3#tldr she's basically a parasocial influencer/gacha game developer. everyone loves her and everyone loves everything she ever makes.#her war crimes are non existent because she's the most perfect bat on earth <3 now go try Just One More fgo pull#go on#give it a shot#it's just one. it couldnt hurt. it's not like you have anything else to live for.#which is all to say hopefully this is coherent and im not doing incomprehensible babbling XD#hopefully my mental image is getting across here#fallen london#fallen london spoilers#heart's desire spoilers#scoundrelventures

Addie, on the other hand, is fearful even of spiders and depends on Meryl for courage and protection. Waving her sword Bloodbiter, the older girl declaims in the garden from the heroic epic of Drualt to a thrilled audience of Addie, their governess, and the young sorcerer Rhys.
But when Meryl falls ill with the dreaded Gray Death, Addie must gather her courage and set off alone on a quest to find the cure and save her beloved sister. Addie takes the seven-league boots and magic spyglass left to her by her mother and the enchanted tablecloth and cloak given to her by Rhys - along with a shy declaration of his love. She prevails in encounters with tricky specters (spiders too) and outwits a wickedly personable dragon in adventures touched with romance and a bittersweet ending.

Then there's his sidekick, Stephanie. She's… well, she's a twelve-year-old girl. With a pair like this on the case, evil had better watch out…
Stephanie's uncle Gordon is a writer of horror fiction. But when he dies and leaves her his estate, Stephanie learns that while he may have written horror, it certainly wasn't fiction. Pursued by evil forces intent on recovering a mysterious key, Stephanie finds help from an unusual source – the wisecracking skeleton of a dead wizard.
When all hell breaks loose, it's lucky for Skulduggery that he's already dead. Though he's about to discover that being a skeleton doesn't stop you from being tortured, if the torturer is determined enough. And if there's anything Skulduggery hates, it's torture… Will evil win the day? Will Stephanie and Skulduggery stop bickering long enough to stop it? One thing's for sure: evil won't know what's hit it.

Jade SSR for Coral Sea hometown event!!! I thought of your account when I first saw the announcement lol
Off topic, but do you know if Port Fest is considered a hometown event? I don’t think it is but I wasn’t sure. I’m just checking because I wanted to see which students have been featured in a hometown event so far and what their cards were to see if there was any indication of who will get an SSR for an event. From what I’ve gathered, there is no pattern (we can blame jamil with his two SSRs).
[Referencing the April 2025 JP schedule!]

Thank you for thinking of me xnsvsksgwibdks
FINALLY 😭 The hometown event I’ve been wanting ever since A Firelit Sky opened up the possibilities… It’s been forever since J word had his previous event SSR too (the Halloween Dress one back in the very first Halloween event ever)!!
Port Fest is not considered a hometown event. The “hometown” event is defined by 1) traveling to a new place outside of Sage’s Island, 2) meeting a new character related to the SSR? and 3) getting a souvenir item. Port Fest does not fit any of these parameters, as it 1) it takes place on a port located on Sage’s Island, 2) no new character is introduced, and 3) there is no souvenir item.
Previous hometown events involved:
A Firelit Sky (Silk City / Najma Viper / Dirty Lamp)
Harveston Sledathon (Harveston / Marja Felmier / Apple Lantern)
Cloudcalling on the Savanna/Tamashina Mina (Sunrise City / Kifaji / Lion Tapestry)
White Rabbit Fest (Clock Town / Dylla Spade / Great Bugle)
Red Carpet Cadets/Tapis Rouge (Maquillaville or Fairest City / Eric Venue / Queen Statuette)
When you say “Jamil had two SSRs”, I’m assuming you meant Yasmina Silk/Silk Adorned Jamil, which dropped with A Firelit Sky and also Applepom Jamil, which came with the Harveston Sledathon rerun? 🤔 He’s not the only one; Vil received a Yasmina Silk/Silk Adorned SSR with the A Firelit Sky rerun, Deuce got a Liongarb SSR with the Cloudcalling on the Savanna/Tamashina Mina rerun. The only pattern (if you can call it that??) that I noticed here is that the characters that got new SSRs upon rerun happen to already have their own hometown events out…? But I don’t think this necessarily means anything since the number we have is so small.)
There are also other instances in which characters got new SSRs with an event rerun or with a second installment to an event. For example:
Outdoor Wear Ruggie, then Outdoor Wear Trey
Fairy Gala Couture Leona, then Fairy Gear Ortho
Beans Camo Azul, then Beans Camo Floyd
Suitor Suit Ace, then Suitor Suit Idia
… So I’m not sure if there’s a pattern as to who gets a hometown event and when, or who gets an event SSR to coincide with reruns or second installments. We always get explanations in-universe as to why specific characters were chosen for the event, but there’s no way to really tell from an irl or meta perspective. Card rarity and timing clearly aren’t good indicators because Jack and Trey have way more event Rs than any other character and there have definitely also been instances where Twst will drop SSRs of the same character only weeks apart from one another.
I think a Briar Valley event is definitely happening in our future; they were probably saving it for after book 7 since that book’s very history heavy. As for Idia and Ortho, we could visit a con or some other location with them (since hometown events aren’t technically all “hometowns”; for example, Maquillaville isn’t Vil’s). The Shrouds are also a branch of the Jupiter family, so it’s entirely possible we meet someone from there. Or it could be a non-family member! Kifaji is, after all, not a Kingscholar but is a significant figure for Leona. I discuss other “hometown” event possibilities here; there’s lots of interesting directions Twst could take!

Strange question but!! Yk how the villains are treated as heroes? How on earth did the heroes stories work if they, uh, yk, dont have the villains? Like i briefly remember TWST!Jafar hijacking Aladdin’s plan to fake being a prince, so theres not rlly any more “aladdin” story, but im curious how other stories went if u know! Are the OG heroes still treated as heroes, etc etc, that fun stuff
Hello hello! Thank you so much for this question!!
The different interpretations of history that seem exist in Twst are fascinating, and one of my favorite things is the part in Book 6 where Lilia seems to insinuate that the Disney stories that we know might not actually be what really happened, because history is written by the victors:
These "classic" stories--were they, too, twisted to suit an agenda? Is the truth closer to what is taught as history in Twst, or is it somewhere in the middle? It is so interesting to think about!
For the most part it seems that the heroes from the stories we know are not turned into villains in Twst, and the deeds that are attributed to them were actually done by multiple characters from different folklore:
For example, Harveston has stories about miners and customs based on "a young lady who made a wish at a well," a "traveler" who cleaned a stranger's home and then a tale about "some princess who wished to fall in love right away," as if the young lady, princess and traveler are three separate people.
While basing their traditions on the miners, the lady and traveler, they also deify the Fairest Queen, as if they are all independent individuals with no overlap.
One of the more interesting parts of the Fairest Queen's history, in particular, is that there is actually a "dastardly villain" in Harveston folklore that stalks a woman who is then saved by forest creatures.
The huntsman is--just like the queen--not a villain in the Twst universe. Who was who, and what really happened? 👀
For the Scalding Sands, it seems that the unnamed princess and the sultan from local stories are just as revered as the Sorcerer of the Sands himself, with the sultan known to be the person who named the Sorcerer as his vizier and retaining their connection from the story we know.
Much like in Harveston, the history of the Scalding Sands seems to attribute what we believe to be the history of just one character to multiple individuals: Kalim talks about the Sorcerer saving his country from a street rat, who was a swindler/charlatan/usurper who tried to trick the sultan and princess, in a rare case of a "hero" being vilified.
But they also have folklore about "a poor but kind-hearted young man" who shared his food with children, and whose marriage to the beautiful princess they celebrate every year with a festival.
Whereas the Disney movies make the charlatan and the kind man into one person, in Twst's history it seems they were two different people.
Diasomnia is very big on the Thorn Fairy, and they also talk about the human king who feared her, the princess whose birthday she was not invited to (Silver: "Was their king raised in a barn?") and the three presents that the princess received.
Lilia talks about a trio of fairies that were not able to break the Thorn Fairy's curses and also put an entire kingdom to sleep, while Silver comments on how Lilia is consciously, intentionally emulating the three fairies from that tale with his cooking.
Silver and Malleus discuss "some faeries" raising a child for 16 years without magic, but they do not seem to know why they did so, and it is unclear if they believe that those faeries and the three faeries that put the kingdom to sleep are the same or different people.
Heartslabyul seems to separate Alice into two different characters as well, referring to a 1-km-tall giant that the Queen of Hearts tried in court and a child that got lost in the castle as if they were two people.
The only reference we get of the "heroes" of the Lion King tale are Jack referring to the King of Beast's "rascal of a nephew" and Leona mentioning that he deposed his brother "to build a better, wiser kingdom."
While the characters seem similar to the stories we know it's possible that the timelines are slightly different, with the rebirth of the pridelands being attributed to the King of Beasts himself rather than his nephew.
The history of the Sea Witch in Twst might be the most fascinating: the characters reference the Sea Witch taking someone's voice for a contract and making a shapeshifting potion to facilitate love between a mermaid and a human, but also turning herself into a human and being proposed to by a prince the next day, with no acknowledgement that the human from the first tale and the prince from the second might have been the same person.
They also talk about the eels flipping over a boat and a mermaid princess who had trouble walking on land, but there is no mention of the princess being in the boat in the eel story.
Octavinelle even acknowledges that the Sea Witch once made herself huge and sunk a ship with a whirlpool and "some even labeled her a monster," saying that she was later lauded as a compassionate figure after turning over a new leaf. (While the less-than-pleasant deeds done by the Sorcerer, the Fairest Queen and the King of Beasts in the stories that we know are never mentioned.)
Silver's tale from Halloween seems to be an exception to this rule. Everything done by the "hero" in the tale we know is still attributed to the hero in the story that Silver knows, and the enemy army is still the enemy army.
To the initial question: it seems that the heroes from the histories that we know are still being regarded as heroes in Twst (though they tend to get separated into multiple people), while the characters that we know as villains are also highly regarded. This sometimes includes their pasts (in the case of the Sea Witch and the Queen of Hearts), being separated from their pasts (in the case of the Hunter) or with no mention of their pasts (the King of Beasts, the Sorcerer of the Sands, the Fairest Queen, the Thorn Fairy).
(Not a lot of information about the King of the Underworld when compared to the others! Idia mostly just talks about how charismatic he was. Ortho suggests something about "the truth" about him being closer to Idia's own situation than they have been taught, but Idia is not convinced.)
Also: there is a reference to a hero rescuing his ladylove from the Underworld in Book 6, so it seems the hero in that tale remains a hero in Twst as well!

"You'd like a photo with me? Sure, darling, come here."
"My name would be Janus, I'm a bit of a new Magicam influencer. My dream is to be as popular as the Vil Schoenheit himself. Or maybe just a little more, I do have the allure for it, no?" The young man smirked, bringing a hand up to frame his fair-skinned face.
He looked to be in his first or second year at least, but his height was on par with Rook's. His entire physique screamed confidence, though maybe that was expected for someone in Pomefiore.
"If you could not tell already, my dorm is Pomefiore, ruled under by our brilliant star, Vil. Isn't he the most fair of them all? I just want to get a glimpse of that true beauty under all of that makeup he wears."
Backstory / More Information
Janus Wynter is twisted from the Snow Queen Jadis from the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. He is a very condescending and manipulative person, often appearing sweet and sometimes desperate for attention from Vil, but he is an absolute jerk to most people. He is nice to his growing fanclub, as he is still a growing influencer and he appreciates all of his fans for giving him their attention.
He was a child actor like Vil, often taking pride in his roles as the villain and somehow exceeding almost everyone's expectations by putting a flamboyant and alluring spin onto the villain he plays. He has always dreamed of being on the same filming set as Vil, and if he can't have that then he would like to have one photoshoot with him.
Vil is everything Janus wants to be: smart, beautiful, powerful, and absolutely exceptional. He tries a bit too much sometimes and it shows in the efforts he makes to try and get Vil's attention.
He has not developed his Signature Spell and it greatly bothers him and pushes him to overwork himself in an attempt to manifest it. His magic is very centered around ice, so he imagines that it has something to do with blizzards. He is steadily developing Blot but somehow he has not Overblotted yet.

Personal Opinion
I’ve been quiet about Disney’s Live Action take for Snow White up till now, so here is what I have to say:
Of all the things that concern me for this movie, Rachel Zegler’s and Gal Gadot’s casting isn’t one of them. I think Rachel is unconventionally pretty, and being of Puerto Rican descent myself, I was excited that this Snow White would be Latina. While the hairstyle and costuming isn’t great, saying that there is no way the Mirror would say she is fairer than Gal Gadot’s Evil Queen (Gal Gadot also being a beautiful woman) and calling her ugly is just unnecessarily unkind. Maybe this is a stretch, but FAIR doesn’t only mean ‘most light-skinned’ or ‘most beautiful’; it also means ‘free from bias, dishonesty, or injustice.’ Based on the song that was recently released, I am inclined to believe that THIS is the take the story will have on the phrase Fairest of them All.
Again, being of PR descent and having one side of the family from PR ranging of all skin tones, I think Zegler was neither “too white” to play Puerto Rican Maria from West Side Story, nor is “too dark” to play Snow White. That’s just me though.
The words on the necklace feel more like they belong to the theme from Live Action Mulan.
I do wish they stuck with casting people with dwarfism for the dwarves. The CGI doesn’t offend me, but c’mon. We’ve seen Tolkein/Narnian/DnD/etc dwarves. Emphasis on Narnian bc when they did the first two films, Disney DID get actors with dwarfism and put them in great makeup/costumes. Also kind of interesting that Peter Dinklage was willing to play a mythical dwarf here but his comments regarding the Snow White (2024/5) film potentially cost others with dwarfism those roles. Looking at the official cast, only ONE of the voice actors for the dwarves is Martin Klebba = Grumpy. Not that dissimilar to the last Grumpy-esque dwarf he played in Mirror Mirror….who casted actors with dwarfism…
Some of the official comments made to promote the movie, including from the actors, have made me roll my eyes so much that I’ve cramped my extraocular muscles. You don’t have to agree with the direction the original movie took with their characters and messages, but putting it down in order to try to elevate the new adaptation seems to be not the wisest decision.
“It’s not the 30’s anymore~” Guys. The earliest versions of the original fairytale sometimes had SW’s own birth mother being jealous of and attempting to kill her, the dwarves MADE the young princess clean and cook for them instead of her offering up those skills, and the prince was an actual stranger who was willing to buy her dead body from the dwarves, among other weird things that the animated film changed/left out. How Disney handled the romance, characters, and overall plot back in the late 1930s was actually good imho.
I liked Zack Snyder’s take on the DC Universe, so the color wash ranging from dark to bright in this film doesn’t bug me.
Is it impossible to use and train real animals anymore in a humane environment? Must the majority of them be CGI?
The potential love interest being a mix of Robin Hood and Flynn Rider is ok I suppose. Not super original, but ok. (I will forever defend the original Prince though; he is NOT an old creepy stalker thank you very much;). HOW.E.VER. The recent comments from those who worked on the movie piqued my interest, namely that they drew inspiration from the discarded draft that the original prince was held prisoner by the queen in her dungeon and that this new character was disillusioned by the power structured of the world. So whether or not this means that this roguish rebel is actually our prince in disguise after all remains to be seen. (Probably not; I tend to overthink things.)
The music is pretty so far. Might buy some of the songs when the soundtrack becomes available. Don’t think some of the original songs needed to be replaced, but Waiting on a Wish sounds lovely even though it’s not I’m Wishing.
If I do wind up seeing it, I’ll just view it how I’ve always tried to view remakes of the originals I loved: just a different take that I am not obligated to love, but will be pleasantly surprised if I do (ex. Cinderella (2015) and Little Mermaid (2023) among some).
Update: saw the movie. Some parts made me roll my eyes and/cringe, but ultimately I had a lot of fun and genuinely enjoyed the rest of it!
