S.H. Figuarts Kotaro Minami and Nobuhiko Akizuki from Kamen Rider BLACK SUN announced for release

For today's Preban Lab Z stream of S.H. Figuarts announcements, in amongst all the Shin Kamen Rider offerings from Tamashii Nations it has been announced that BLACK SUN is to receive another set of releases -- Kotaro Minami and Nobuhiko Akizuki; as portrayed in the show by actors Hidetoshi Nishijima and Tomoya Nakamura respectively, are to be released in S.H. Figuarts form.

Previously seen at Tamashii Nations 2022, these two figures use digital facemapping to accurately recreate the visage of Kotaro and Nobuhiko; with two faces included each. For other accessories, the pair most notably feature their drivers as an alternate piece to depict them when they're about to transform. Kotaro additionally features a Life Extract, a pack of Heat Heaven, and the final episode version of the Satan Saber. Nobuhiko features the Satan Saber in full with an alternate piece to depict its broken state, and also comes with an alternate head for the recently-released Kamen Rider Shadowmoon that depicts his eyes lit up green.

S.H. Figuarts Kotaro Minami and Nobuhiko Akizuki release as Premium Bandai exclusives in November 2023 for 8,800 Yen each; with pre-orders to begin tomorrow.

Το INORI – PRAYER* αποτελεί ένα έργο βαθύτατα μελετημένο, που για την υλοποίησή του απαιτήθηκαν τρεις μήνες συνεργασία πολλών ατόμων στην προσπάθεια τους να παρουσιάσουν κάποιες πτυχές της κινέζικής και της ιαπωνικής κουλτούρας μέσα από μια πρωτότυπη καλλιτεχνική έκφραση. Το σύστημα χαρτογράφησης προσώπων επέτρεψε την παρακολούθηση έντονων παραστάσεων, κάτι που ήταν αδύνατο μέχρι τώρα, χάρη στη χρήση του προβολέα DynaFlash που διαθέτει τελευταίας τεχνολογίας και της υψηλής ανίχνευσης ταχύτητας (1000fps).

Είναι ενδιαφέρον κανείς να ερευνήσει την σημειολογική προσέγγιση αυτού του βίντεο, που η προβαλλόμενη εικόνα μοιάζει να είναι ενσωματωμένη σε μέρος του δέρματος και των εκφράσεων ενός ανθρώπινου προσώπου, το οποίο παραμορφώνεται ή μεταμορφώνεται και ενισχύεται εκθετικά. Το θέμα του έργου είναι η ίδια η Ζωή και συνδυάστηκε με το μουσικό κομμάτι που “ενσαρκώνει” τη ραδιενέργεια, με σκοπό να αποδοθούν τα δεινά της τελευταίας που είναι ο θάνατος και παράλληλα η ταλαιπωρία και η θλίψη. Αυτό αποτυπώνεται εικονικά με μαύρα δάκρυα, κρανία, κομμένα πρόσωπα, μάσκες Noh και το Heart Sutra.

Αξίζει συνεπώς να σημειωθεί πως μέσω αυτής της τεχνολογίας συνδυάζονται δύο έμψυχα όντα με ένα άψυχο και αυτό καταλήγει σε μια πιο φιλοσοφική διάσταση το θέμα. Αυτό ,συνεπάγεται με τη ζωή και το θάνατο, δηλαδή τον άνθρωπο που  “παλεύει” ενάντιας της τεχνολογίας, αφού αυτή παρά τα πλεονεκτήματα που παρέχει, οδήγησε στην αλλοτρίωση και την αποξένωση των ατόμων.

Gmod and SFM made people take for granite the HL2 cast as "oh those silly characters again" but here's the thing: Valve brought real people in and molded them into and facemapped onto those models (with additional texture detail added in for good measure ofc)

Today it's really easy to overlook but for 2001 - 2004 and for what's basically the idTech 2 engine ship of theseus'd to being near unrecognizable, this was absolutely insane especially with how the final results somehow simultaneously maintain a photorealistic yet still stylistic look, miraculously not looking uncanny and just how malleable they all are even into the present (and ofc directly building the road for later games that also have strong art direction like TF2).

(honestly think they're even better than their Alyx / Source 2 counterparts too which I feel were way stiffer and fell into the same modern industry pitfalls but that's a discussion for another day)

Despite some age showing and its utterly arduous development cycle (see: the jump from Pitch / Hyper to Airex Era, the 2003 leak during E3 Era and the early backlash surrounding all of it, etc.) Half-Life 2 still looks extremely good not just compared to other games released around the same time but also for a game that's now 20 years old and counting period but there's one area that sadly doesn't get brought up as often as it should be and that's the designs of the human NPCs and animation choreography.
