oh my god I am so happy to see the interest in a Fab Five week.

the interest poll was a huge success so I'm happy to announce that Fab Five Week 2025 is happening! the posting week is going to be February 3rd - 8th/9th (if it's going to be 6 or 7 days is going to be up to a vote.) the prompt submissions form is gonna open on October 7th.

i need either polycule fab five or just regular fab five being super protective of dick especially when it comes to shit with bruce actually. i need them to want to hunt the bats (bruce mainly) for sport actually.

they were there through the fear of being fired because he revealed his identity. they were there for a lot. please. pretty please.

let them drop everything and come to his aid because he is their leader even if they're not together (as a team) anymore and he's been through so much and they know he can hold his own but they also know how many walls he builds around himself. when dick's not okay they're not okay. they're angry. they're furious. let them deal with mirage /and/ tarantula and everyone else and let them yell at bruce for multiple things hes done in canon (hitting dick, firing/attempting to fire dick from the thing that REPRESENTS HIS FAMILY, the whole forever evil slash spyral thing, etc etc etc etc)

i'll be SO honest i wish i had like. insightful interesting opinions on them but i've always been a Young Justice kid and sort of. breezed past consuming Fab Five Teen Titans content-

but of what i *do* know, from the few comics i've read with these characters is this is one of the best ships for Dick, honestly. it always deeply annoys me when fanon content breezes past the Titans as if they're just some distant teammates and not some of Dick's closest friends, if not a second family. *especially* the Fab Five. for most, if not all of them, it's the first time getting to actually connect with other teen heroes. so there's something fun about how sort of terrible they are at it, at first. they all care about each other a lot. but they're kind of chucked into the deep figuring out how to work with each other and get along with *very* different personalities, so it's fun to see where the conflict comes.

as a ship, i do really love it. the Titans are a family. like we call a lot of teams found families, but for the Fab Five, that shit is the truest. they depend on each other and trust each other. when Dick and Bruce are on outs and Bruce fires him, he goes to the Titans.

i also enjoy how, to an extent, all of them are outsiders of some kind. Donna is alone in a new world she's never experienced, the same as Garth. Roy is still new and awkward to living the rich life with Oliver. Wally doesn't connect to his parents well. and of course, Dick has lost his parents and only has Bruce, who isn't the most emotionally available. of course they're going to cling to each other, as the first people they can really develop connections too. they're very clingy with each other and i think that's both cute and *fun* to explore like, codependency issues with them. how protective they can be of each other, how they default to trusting each other over their mentors, etc. it's all very interesting for a polycule, especially since for most of them, it's their first real relationship. i'm a big fan of "none of us know what dating looks like bc we've had such strange childhoods so we don't understand the Rules very well. we're all just going to date each other bc why would i date only one of you. do teamups count as dates now." vibes with teenage polycules. and the Fab Five just. have that on lock. they each fulfill a different "niche" in the group. Garth is the softer, more emotional one you can go to if you're upset. Donna is the one for planning bright fun trips and making sure you don't wallow. Roy is protective and can pretend to be suave, but he shows affection through gift giving and grand gestures where words fail him. Wally can cheer any of them up with jokes and distractions. and of course Dick is the logical one who makes sure they all keep their heads on and don't drown in the responsibility.

overall i think it's a really cute ship and i do wish i just. knew more about them to be able to write them/read fic of it because i do love their dynamic. and i'm just a firm believer in the Titans being Dick's family, just as important to him as the Batfam. they're a disaster and for that you gotta love them.

I'm sorry but it always makes me cackle when Donna tells Dick, Wally, and Garth that Roy is cuter than them and then Dick says, "You can bet your magic lasso, W.G., that we will hook up with Speedy again—" Taken out of context, it makes it sound like they had a five way 😭.

Historically 11th hour relationships have come out of left field (who asked for deanna & worf, bashir & ezri, or seven & the twice her age chakotay??)

I tried to avoid any relationships that had been heavily foreshadowed. But it’s all opinion - you may think some of the above options are obvious, or that pairings I think have obviously been hinted at are not (mariner & boimler, tendi & rutherford, tendi & t’lyn).

You may also not want to think about random pairings, and hope the cycle is over. And you would not be alone.

If you had to give Garth a new friend group who would it be?

that's rough.....

because honestly part of his charm is that he's extremely maidenless... well not maidenless he Is pulling hot babes left and right but friends?? ooh boy,,,

i wouldn't want to take away the fab five from him, despite how poorly they treat him at times. However, i do think it would've been really cool to see him with the new teen titans! i completely understand why he wasn't with them at that point, like i get it. but just from a character relations perspective, i do think this would've been a natural next step if he wasn't so self-deprecating (and busy in atlantis). dick and donna were consistently the nicest to him out of the fab five so he gets to keep some of that previous dynamic. wally is also there but,, roy isn't!!! no offense to roy i like him on his own but he was a big reason why garth left in the first place so. yknow.

but anyway, garth does have good relationships with kori, garfield, and victor. and i guess raven too but we don't really see that,, like ever. he's obviously not close to them, but they're not mean to him. which is a big thing for garth! kori seems to hold him in high regard too, at least after he becomes tempest, so it would've been nice to see their relationship actually progress to the point where she trusts him like that. like in the titans (1999) issue 19 where she says she trusts him with her life. like. what the fuck!! there are also multiple issues where garth and garfield have a little friendship going on (that one panel where garfield yells at arthur gives me so much life adghlj). and there are a few cute moments between garth and victor.

i really don't think he'd become like,, besties or family with any of them, but if i really had to give him More friends, i think they would've been the safest bet.

within the confines of underwater,,, letifos Should come back. idc if they're dating or not, but she should just always be there. for Me, personally <3 i think it'd be hilarious if tula and dolphin also came back at the same time. it'd never happen but who cares. the four of them can be in some weird polycule together aldhg

my second hot take is that garth and koryak should've become besties

Reading Jeremy Adams’s Flash due to a suggestion and when I say I love Linda, I LOVE LINDA. And all it is doing is cementing the fact those two and Artemis deserve to be DC’s first canon thruple/polycule because Artemis and Linda would have amazing interactions and Wally just, you know when your comic intro to his love life is Raven’s BS and Faye, this makes me happy to see at least one of the fab five actually being able to be happy and I want the most for him. Also Jai is 100% the voice of reason on the kid boy group. Like not even a question.

Also Wallace is a great menace to Wally and I love him.

How did Jason Todd x Roy Harper get so popular as opposed to Roy x Dick? Don’t get me wrong I have nothing against Jason and Roy together, just… Roy has been around for almost as long as Dick, and I don’t know about prior teem ups, but they had definitely met by 1969 in teen titans #4. That is- out of the nearly 80 years both have been in comics (Dick introduced 1940, Roy introduced 1941) , they have known each other for almost 50. Jason and Roy were in a team together for the new 52 where poor Roy got absolutely assassinated character wise (Kori too tbh) which only took place over the course of about 5 years. Is it just because they were more recent? I refuse to read red hood and the outlaws on principle cause I’m petty and don’t want to, but as much as they might have chemistry, Dick and Roy also have a lot of chemistry? Idk it just really confuses me.
