So I watched "Fëanor a jeho synové" (Sons of Feanor) today. Here to say i am emotionally destroyed. It will take me a while to recover.

hii i can't keep quiet about this anymore

so, there's this silm musical, fëanor a jeho synové (feanor and his sons) by falešné společenstvo anddd there's this song, konfrontace (confrontation; the link will take you to the same video as the previous one but right at the start of the song), about the fallout between fëanor and nerdanel right after fëanor and their sons swear the oath

and it's SO beautiful, please listen to it! here you can find an older recording of the song (audio quality is better though) + the lyrics and sheet music. i'm so insane about this song, the LYRICS are soo great, they make me go insane, like

you see, fëanel are my divorced parents, i need them so bad to be together, they should never come within a mile of eachother, AND the song really captured that: the split between these two people who still love each other dearly, the way fëanor refuses to listen to anyone, going on about his plans and dreams, nerdanel begging him to at least not bring their sons with him!

and the singers, laeg mortemir and eliška nejedlá, did such a good job of bringing the characters to life! they both have such beautiful voices, the way nerdanel just screams "já tě zapřísahám" (which is closer to "i implore you", actually) means so much to me, oh god. also they look gorgeous. they're canonical fëanor and nerdanel to me now

in conclusion, konfrontace is a marvelous song i'm now obsessed with, please go listen to it (maybe the whole musical as well? there are other great songs there, i especially like olwë's persuasion and battle under the stars)

As someone who's already rewatched Rings of Power twice and is currently desperate for content for a fandom based on something nearly a hundred years old, how would you recommend getting into the Silmarillion operas?

I'm hardly the expert on the Russian rock operas. I only got into the them because of a stream of the Lay of Leithian rock opera hosted by @sewn-with-lilies-fair. Unfortunately, I do not speak Russian and won't be much help with purchasing the streams. That being said, there is still a lot of content available on youtube, and some of it even has English subtitles. The 2014 recording of Finrod-Zong (Finrod's Song) has subtitles and is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4kFQaTDJAk&t=19s Another person who is incredibly useful to know is @emeraldskulblaka, and she has put all of the freely available clips of both Finrod-Zong and the Lay of Leithian rock operas into very convenient playlists. Those playlists can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_moWysGi7ZIdbXdvPwErOw There are also several Czech musicals created by a Czech Tolkien community theater group for an annual Tolkiencon, though I believe only one (Fëanor a jeho synové, aka Fëanor and His Sons) has subtitles right now (there is currently an effort to change this and subtitle the others, but it may be a while). This whole thing is based on Mandosova Sudba in Fëanor a jeho synové, where the tune of Fëanor and Nerdanel's separation, is the same tune for The Doom of Mandos. In addition, in Mandosova Sudba, Fëanor forgets a line, and Nerdanel prompts him. This has been giving me brain worms for over a year now.
