ZevWarden Week Day 5: Bodies and Minds

This shot broke my version of Procreate Dreams. I ended up having so many layers that Dreams was telling me it wouldn’t be able to export the video unless I consolidated or deleted some.

Oddly enough if you group some of the layers together that somehow frees up space? I’m not sure how that works tbh. In the end I have around 45-48 layers consolidated into 16 different groups.

I genuinely thought that the climbing out animation would be the hardest part of this shot, but in fact it was all the rubble and shadow effects that needed to be applied. Those are what took up the bulk of the layers.

The Warden is animated mostly on 3’s and 4’s (with a couple 1’s and 2’s in there to smooth out the animation slightly). I did this because I wanted him to be lumbering and unnatural. Up until this moment everything has mostly been animated on 1’s (including a lot of the rubble).

I really didn’t think that this one 5 second shot would be what broke Procreate Dreams. If you’ve been following my work these past 2 months I’ve had some shots that were far longer and more technically complex than this one. But I guess just the sheer number of layers and groups I needed to have to make the rubble work was just too much!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this progression! I’m finally up to the Warden appearing in my storyboard! I’m about halfway done, and it’s only taken 2 months! 😭

If dragon age writers weren't cowards they'd make Thedas ripe with misandry based on the Chantry's beliefs and Alistair wouldn't be able to ascend to the throne without marrying a woman first 😒

And if you aren't playing a female Cousland specifically you'd NEED Anora...( For the record I think she actually wasn't a good ruler and that adds so much spice to this. Especially if you play as Tabris - an elf who suffered under her rule. )
