Currently I have ongoing longfics in: Phoenix Wright M*A*S*H* Malevolent House, MD

But I've also recently written for Pentiment + Pathologic. Big previous fandoms include TMA and Disco Elysium. I also really want to start writing Sherlock Holmes again, tbh.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

5. Do you respond to comments?

I do! Around once a week I'll go through and try to get them. Sometimes I can't think of what to say, sometimes it's a quick 'thank you!'.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? 

I can think of two: Catacomb Killer explicitly ends with war breaking out after the case is solved. I debated on this for a long time, but in the end, one of the main decisions the protags make in the end is to give a sensitive piece of intel to what would be the rebels, knowing that it might encourage them to act quickly. And, you know! Consequences.

road trip of the damned (an ode to good cows) doesn't end angstily necessarily, but the entire fic basically ends with 'and Jon gets home and goes to his grandmother's funeral and grieves'. The fic didn't revolve around grief until about halfway thrugh outlining it.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? 

Lighthouse might take the cake - many characters are back from the dead and living in an extended family situation. The Prodigal (or, a Planet Called Petunia) is one of my biggest 'from rock bottom to right on top' stories (because god bless, even Arthur Lester only gets the gift of having more horrors once he scrapes himself off the pavement).

8. Do you get hate on fics? 

Every once in a while! Usually not anything intentionally malicious, though. Mostly people not reading the room.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? 

Typically not exclusively smut! A sex scene every once in a blue moon, though, if the characters vibe. I think subconsciously I include a similar amount of sex that is in the source material.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? 

Not regularly, but a few! I've cross-overed Mistholme with TMA once, and Monstrous Agonies with TMA + Malevolent.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? 

aw man let's hope not

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? 

I have! Incredibly kind, it always makes me want to learn the translated language.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? 

I have not!

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? 

I think Spirk is the one that will always stick with me, but Johnlock and Jonmartin have had such an impact on me.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? 

I've got two Holmes longfics all outlined out that really excite me, but... oh, man. For some reason sitting down to write them hasn't happened. I also have a Malevolent longfic based on the original stories of the King in Yellow book - which I do want to finish, but it will be horrifically long.

16. What are your writing strengths? 

I think I'm decent with 'oh, so this is what the story's about' moments - like, oh, this story is about discovering meaning or falling in love or learning forgiveness or w/e. I like big, flashy finales. I've also been told my pacing is very good, and generally speaking, I think I'm halfway decent with humor.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? 

Sometimes I think in my drive to push the plot along, I strip away a lot of the fluffier character-buildy moments - and emotional throughlines for characters can be a bear. I've also noticed a recent thing where I'm, like. Omitting a very important part of the scene and just writing a reaction to it. Which is wild and fun to edit with.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? 

Sometimes! Usually when there's no direct translation (or the 'direct translation' is way too stiff).

19. First fandom you wrote for? 

BBC Sherlock, 100% positive.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

Oh, I don't know if I could pick a favorite! Catacomb Killer was so fun to play with the dialogue, and doing the research for formaldehyde and i'm afraid to come home in the dark was cool. I think I might actually pick Interim? (I Hardly Know Him) just because my usual longfics are angsty-ish, but writing Wooden Overcoats fanfic was like writing a sitcom. Was fun!

🍈 Who’s your blorbo and what are some of your favorite headcanons/ideas about them that repeatedly show up in your fics? Free pass to rant about blorbo opinions.

Am I supposed to choose just one blorber? Cruel, but also LET'S FUCKING GOOOO

Dooku. Man. To get some technical stuff out of the way, I think he has a castle in the Serennian hills that isn't an egg-shaped chrome dome. A *really* nice one made of painted stones and wood. Old. Full of portraits of his ancestors and with a stupid whimsical garden that has only become more whimsical ever since he stopped hiring people to trim it. I also think he has a room full of traditional swords in there. Steel blades, all types of lengths and edges, and he knows how to wield each and every one of them to perfection. That room has been collecting dust for a while, though. It comes up in Gone with the Light and I'm VERY excited to write that segment! Hehe

And I just love his inner world - or lack thereof. Old fuck in a castle who can't seem to keep anyone around for one reason or another, but he never makes himself acknowledge the pattern that's so obviously there. His internal monologue is so tasty to write, partially because he's his only hypeman, and also because he has no idea who he is unless he forces himself into the Sith grindset. That way, he doesn't have to think about all the painful stuff so much. Between the genuine revolutionary intent of his younger days, his Jedi upbringing of even younger ones and his present holding on to Sith teachings for dear life, he is lost. There is so much MEAT to him and whatever the hell is going on inside that thick skull man <3 The loneliness and denial always comes up in some way

Also, a more basic headcanon: he's a BIG eater. That body needs a lot of energy even in his old age, considering its dimensions and what he does with it. Back when Qui-Gon hit his growth spurt they could hit a pantry the way the locusts hit the fields of Egypt - in contrast, Dooku deliberately under-eats in official company. Diplomatic dinners, long-winded negotiation meetings, the days he inevitably has to spend with Sidious, you name it. The Republic has an abundance of overly indulgent Senators and Count Dooku, leader of the Confederacy, very much does not want a reputation like Orn Free Taa's. Whenever we see him in canon there's a 50/50 chance of him being hungry as fuck (I am convinced of this because it amuses me greatly)

🫐 What’s your favorite underrated thing in your fandom? (A ship that only you seem to write for, a character there’s almost no fics about, a trope that criminally hasn’t been written yet, etc.)

DEFINITELY the Dooku & Asajj dynamic! It's the sort of juicy but under-developed part of canon that you'd expect to have a couple hundred fics, and among them some of those lifechanging longfics. You know the type. But tragedy strikes... we're not getting that for these two. There's barely anything. I am planning to rectify that because they make me insane and I need to drag more people into the insanity pit with me until the numbers add up. I swear I'm already following every single person who has ever been unwell about them in the character tags augh

Thank you to @heybuddy-drabbles , @tailsbeth-writes and @getmehighonmagic for the last sentence tag! Y'all caught me at a good time because I'm currently writing (eyyy she did it boys!) so have a small snip from a Dragon Riders AU I'm currently working on. It kinda has Fourth Wing vibes, but I'm not going to call it a Fourth Wing AU because I'm mostly just stealing some of her structure more than anything. A lot will be different.

Everyone assumes that either: A. Henry is a weapon his mother has honed over the years, using her son, molding him into the perfect soldier, make him an asset to her troops, therefore unbeatable, or B. if they draw blood from the royal son, if they cause damage to Catherine’s precious boy, their fate is as good as sealed, and their time will be over at the war college. Finding a worthy opponent is hard. Finding an opponent who isn’t terrified of who he is, is even harder.

It's gonna be a doozy so unless someone's really interested, feel free to skip. And yes, all my "comfort characters" have themes of trauma and revenge.

Astarion Ancunin - I think my url might've given it away; his story resonates with me in terms of struggling with intimacy post sa and experiencing the isolating loneliness that comes along with trauma incomprehensible for others. And also the world is a vile place and I say let it burnnn, baby! I must say I really had to think long and hard about the rest, but judging by what I like to come back to when in stress:

Dean Winchester - resonating with the trauma and/or complicated feelings coming from being the older sibling that's supposed to "save" the younger one, despite being unable to. And having a thing for drinking and/or isolating myself when the troubles hit. Also my 11 yo cat is literally called Cas lmao, he's equal part apex predator and fluffy dum dum, just like the original.

V from "V for Vendetta" - I wish I could spend my life meticulously plotting and flawlessly executing a plan of elaborate revenge on my past abusers. I feel like that would give me the kick, lol. This + the "inch of ourselves" quote was literally a theme for my therapy for years, while I was looking for my own identity panicking I've been destroyed to the last: "Our integrity sells for so little, but it is all that we really have. It is the very last inch of us. But within that inch, we are free… An inch; it is small, and it is fragile, and it is the only thing in the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away; we must never let them take it from us.”

Lisbeth Salander (Millennium book series, "Girl with the dragon tattoo") - a woman who single-handedly made me dream of working remotely in IT and living independently. And of course one day I'll make my abuser pay the exact same way she did - and I already have the tattoo needle, eyyy! Proud to say after years and years I finally get to live in a single-bedroom studio place and spend my days developing code, even if just in a junior position for now. The next step is to live somewhere with palm trees, just like she did in the books. After the fucker gets his tat, of course. Bonus points for being neurodivergent and blatantly unapologetic about it. And getting her heart crushed because no matter how big the gesture, most will mostly pick the "normal" over the freak.

Jessica Jones - a little similar to Lisbeth, but with Marvel twist and way more psychotic opponent. I've just started watching his series recently and it's ripping my soul in hundreds of directions, even evoking a bit of my Stokholm Syndrome. And to have such strength as a woman! Makes me wonder what kind of use I'd actually make of it, given the chance. Would I actually go the hero route? The vigilante? Or just amuse myself with continuous torture of those who wronged me?

Who would've known, out of the whole bunch, Astarion seems like the most cheerful character lmao.

Hi I saw your tags about having EMDR and how much it helped. I'm currently experiencing EMDR treatment weekly. It's been a game-changer for me and I want to thank you for being brave enough to get help, kind enough to post about it and amplify the things that help and also courageous enough to be open and transparent about mental illnesses and the journey towards healing or at least a better quality of life. I am so glad to see such openness on your blog and I'd like to thank you sharing your own experiences with EMDR. It helps me to know there's another Trekkie out there who it worked for. It gives me hope. 🖖

Eyyy love hearing from other people who've been helped by EMDR! It was completely revolutionary for me - I'm no longer diagnosed with C-PTSD because it Fixed that. I didn't know that was a thing that could be fixed. I'm still amazed every time I use one of the techniques I learned with that therapist because they're not just stop-gaps but actually rewiring my brain. Truly I don't understand how my therapist waving a stick at me while getting me to visualise the traumas happening differently did all that but like. Can't argue with the results.

Also, I used Star Trek a whole lot with my therapist. We mentally sent my abusers to Kronos. Transported my child self into DS9's infirmary. Designed my quarters where I could go to chill after fixing nightmares. Assorted Trek characters started showing up in my nightmares and fixing them before they got too bad.

I dearly hope the therapy keeps being helpful for you too! Well done on finding it ❤��

3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?

As I mentioned in my tags, I only really got back into writing in the last couple months after a long hiatus when The Baldur's Gate 3 Fever hit me, so I don't have a ton to choose from here, but I'm really proud of how The Mystery of the Night turned out. I may try reposting it again into the fandom tags at some point cos I don't think I did a very good job of advertising it before.

6. Favorite title you used

None of them were that dramatic, I think, but I do like The Center Cannot Hold, which is a quote from a Yeats poem (the poem itself is not necessarily thematically relevant to the fic, but the word "center" is).

That’s so sweet of you to say 🫶🏼 I’ll try my best to answer all of these.

1. My favorite food is probably the Mac’n’Cheese they sell at Wawa, which is a tragedy because I no longer live in the US and we don’t have Wawa on this continent. So if we’re talking favorite food I can actually eat on a regular basis it’s got to be the veggie lasagna a friend of mine gave me the recipe for once.

2. I’m not sure I have a favorite animal actually 🤔 maybe penguins? They used to be the ones I looked forward to seeing most as a kid, when I still went to zoos.

3. Favorite city is New York. The food, the buzzing atmosphere, Central Park, BROADWAY?! I’ll go back there any day. Favorite country goes to Sweden, though I haven’t nearly explored enough of it so far.

4. I’ll start with the easy one: My favorite band, as this year’s Spotify Wrapped can attest to, is a Swedish band called Mares, who sadly already split up before I’d ever even heard of them. (Shoutout to @ishotforthestars for introducing me to who is now my most listened to artist💜). Picking a favorite singer is trickier. Vocally speaking it’s between Omar and Reneé Rapp, but then I love Sabrina Carpenter’s music as a whole a LOT. There’s no way for me to choose. And honestly I’m a bit proud I only mentioned three artists here 😂

5. Once again, I have two favorite fics I love coming back to:

Play my song by @ishotforthestars (eyyy, double tag) will always tug on my heartstrings in the best way possible.

But I also can’t forget Doesn’t everyone belong in the arms of the sacred by @alltoowille. Some of the paragraphs in this one I’ve read aloud multiple times, because the words are simply too beautiful to not sound them out.

As for my own, it might be The Time Of My Life. Then again I tend to get biased in favor of whatever I’m currently working on so 🤷🏻‍♀️
