Shaima continues, hacking the last dagger into the fourth corner of the map on her desk, “I don’t know about the [redacted] per se but to answer the question, yes. We will make port. Properly. A week at least.”
Shouts of “Aye!” erupt from most ladies, paired with broad grins and happy giggles, Charango opting for a swift strum of their strings. Shaima can’t help when the corners of her lips rise.
“That’s what I like to hear from my favourite Captain,” Deepali murmurs, smirking.
Shaima pulls a fifth knife, holding it just to the base of Deepali’s throat in reprimand of her cockiness. “I am your only Captain.”
More lash fluttering, “My point still stands.”
Shaima narrows her eyes in warning. Although before the scene can escalate, there is a string instrument neck placed on Deepali’s chest, oh so slowly pushing her back and off the desk until she is settled into Charango’s side, still grinning like a cat that got the cream.
Shaima gives them an acknowledging nod which Charango replies to with one of their own. After about six weeks out on the open sea they might be the only other one with an ounce of common sense on their vessel. Açaí fluffs her feathers and replies with a caw of You’re Welcome.

Prologue
Before gold, before grams, before the gun, there was you. Back when there weren’t crosses to steal, lines to snort, cops to run from, there was you. Long summer nights on the Druthers, your mom blowing up your phone ‘cause you missed curfew again. Skipping class and riding to the beach on the back of his bike. All the way back to grade school, playing tag and pretending you were pirates. Then middle school, that kiss under the lifeguard tower, a first for both of you. In high school, the night you got back from the “character-building summer camp” you had been shipped off to and you shared your other first. When you were first together, it didn’t even hurt, but just felt like fucking finally.
He remembers it all, taking all of his strength to keep it stuffed under the surface. The coke, the violence, the drama he creates in his wake cover you up nicely, until those nights when he’s dead asleep and there you are again, leaving. When he wakes, it all comes back to him. How he sat on the curb and watched you go, bloody and hurt from the night that was your final straw. How he showed up on your doorstep the next day, like he was five-years-old again asking if you could come outside and play. How your mother told him you were gone and wouldn’t tell him where you went.
“Honey,” she said with something like pity in her voice, “Promise me, you’ll let her go, let her be happy.”
A promise he kept, until the day you rolled back into town with no warning. Your timing could not have been worse. After the summer from hell, the summer that made him a killer, he finally felt like he was in control. It wasn’t until he saw you, the only person in the world that ever really knew him, that he realized he had no idea who he was.
Chapter One
You clutched your phone tight, reading and rereading the message. One you used to get nearly every night but hadn’t seen in two long years.
party at cameron’s tonite !!
It was a group text, sent by the girl from your high school you bumped into in the grocery store earlier that day. You had been back on the island for all of an hour before inevitably seeing someone you knew. You tried to duck quickly into the cereal aisle, but she caught your eye before you could disappear, an action you were infamous for.
“Omg, we need to hang out soon!” She had said, before handing you her phone to put your new number in.
You smiled your fakest smile and said, “it’s a must!” You didn’t think either of you really meant it, but apparently she had.
There were eleven or twelve other numbers in the group text, none you had saved, but you assumed they were likely other people from your high school. She probably just added anyone in her contacts she could think of, not even stopping to realize she was inviting the Kook prince’s former princess to his party. Your relationship had been the stuff of legend on this island. Everyone had an opinion, you were practically a celebrity couple, and it was the biggest news on the island for months when you left, suddenly disappearing overnight. Some real shit must’ve gone down around here since then to make it such old news that this girl didn’t even think about it when adding you to this text.
Your heart pounding in your ears, you couldn’t believe it when you felt yourself typing out i’ll be there :)
You wore your hair down, the way you always used to have it in high school. After you left, you had cut it short, wanting to shed away as much of your old life as you could, but in the last few months you’d started to let it grow back. Now it flowed down to the middle of your back, tickling the skin of your shoulders where the thin spaghetti straps of the little dress you had on left them exposed. You let the front pieces fall around your face, a sort of curtain to keep an extra layer between you and the other partygoers.
You could not believe you were here. For real this time, not in a dream as you had been every night for two years, but really here.
As you walked down the gravel path, it all came rushing back. The smell of Rose’s garden, the distant sound of the ocean lapping against the shore, the low thud of the music echoing through the crisp evening air. How many times have you walked down this path? How many nights had you spent here, your senses filled with the glory of Tannyhill, the glory of him? And yet now it felt so heavy, the sights, sounds, smells of it all were nearly choking you. Tears welled in your eyes, but something kept your feet walking towards those grand front doors, towards him.
Four years earlier…
The glass panes of the front door are slightly blurred, only revealing the soft lighting of the grand entryway on the other side. You had crossed this threshold at least a thousand times in the ten years since your family moved to this island. Knocking felt strange, you felt so small standing here in the porch light, surrounded by moths and the thick coastal August air. An envelope, wrinkled from being opened and rifled through so many times, was clutched between your clammy hands.
A figure you couldn’t quite make out approached the door, and your heart pounded in your ears as you hoped desperately it would be him who opened the door. But it wasn’t.
“Oh, hey - I- hi, Mr. Cameron,” you stammered, ever intimidated by the island’s most powerful man.
“Y/N,” Ward nodded cordially. “It’s after 10pm.”
You smiled weakly, if you felt small before, you feel positively infantile now.
“I was just hoping I could see Rafe for like, just a second,” you pleaded, putting on your sweetest smile.
“He’s studying,” Ward said. “You can come back tomorrow. Goodnight.”
Before you could protest, the door was closed and the blurred figure retreated into the house.
Never one to give up, you stuffed the letter into the back pocket of your jeans, and stepped back from the porch, sizing up the massive house to see which rooms still had lights on. You knew the blueprint of this place by heart, checking off each family member mentally as you scanned their window for signs of life. Wheezie’s room? Dark. Sarah’s room? Dark. Rose and Ward’s room? Still lit. This would have to be a stealth mission.
You snuck around the side of the house and looked up at the last window on your list. To your excitement, the room was still lit. You saw a long shadow pass by the curtains, and you actually jumped a little from the thrill. After spending the longest summer of your life apart from the one person you wanted to spend it with, he was actually right there, just two stories off the ground.
You traveled 800 miles today, what was a few more feet? Blocking out the better judgment ringing in the back of your mind, you picked up a few pebbles from the rocky path that leads to the backyard, and started climbing the big tree that grew right up past Rafe’s balcony. How you were gonna get from the tree to the balcony? That was five-minutes-from-now-you’s problem. You chuckled to yourself as your body naturally found each branch and knot on the tree. You used to have competitions when you were kids to see who could climb this tree the fastest, and you beat Rafe everytime. You remembered the shocked look on his face the first time he saw you scurry up the tree, you were hoping for a similar level of approving surprise once you got where you were going.
Once you reached the branch directly across from Rafe’s balcony, you pulled one of the pebbles from your pocket and chucked it at his window as hard as you could.
“Shit,” you whisper-yelled as the throw fell short and the pebble dropped, loudly knocking into the first floor window below. You couldn’t afford another noise-causing miss, so you recalculated the throw and bit your lip as you lobbed the next pebble hard. It smacked into Rafe’s window with a loud TINK and you smiled in satisfaction. You waited a moment, then two, and still nothing. The shadowy figure did not return to the curtain. You only had one pebble left, and you had never been good at climbing back down this tree. Remembering the time you fell out of it onto the waiting Rafe below, and you both ended up needing stitches, your stomach twisted in fear. You took in a deep breath and held it, letting the last pebble fly. Another sharp TINK, and a moment of baited breath later, the tall shadow finally returned to the window.
Rafe opened the curtains harshly and you immediately broke into a wild smile. He looked so cute in his fitted gray t-shirt and plaid pajama pants, his normally gelled back her falling in messy pieces around his face. You held back a giggle, delighted by the completely confused look on his face as he searched out the window for the cause of the sound. He lifted the window open and examined the two pebbles that had fallen on the windowsill.
You took the opportunity to whisper a loud “psssst.” His face shot up in surprise and his eyes finally found you in the tree, just a few feet off of the balcony. Where you expected to see surprised delight on his face, you instead caught something cold and irritated.
“Y/N,” he whisper-called to you. “What are you doing?”
“I just got back, I wanted to see you!” You called to him, hoping his apparent anger was just in response to his own shock.
“I’m busy.” Rafe went to close the window and you felt your moment of opportunity slip away.
“Wait!” you stopped him. “Please don’t make me climb down. We both know it won’t end well.” You smiled a sweetly shy smile you hoped would melt his icy demeanor a bit.
He sighed and looked at you annoyed for a moment before climbing out the window, his height requiring him to duck low in order to make it through. He had grown even taller over the summer, he must have hit 6 foot by now, maybe more. Your stomach flipped as you watched his athletic frame emerge from his bedroom, now able to see how defined his arms looked in the moonlight. You’d always thought he was a cute boy, but the way he looked right now lit a fire in your belly. Then you realized what it was - while you were gone, the cute boy-next-door had become a man.
“Just reach over,” he directed you.
“I don’t think I can without falling,” you explained. “I think I’m gonna have to jump.”
“Are you stupid?” He scoffed humorlessly.
Your heart sank, the boy you left behind three months ago never would have called you stupid.
“It’ll be fine, you just have to catch me,” you explained.
He rolled his eyes and opened his arms, reaching them over the bannister of the balcony, “fine.”
The brief moment of joy you got from his submission faded fast as you made the mistake of looking down at the gap between the tree and the balcony.
“Actually…” you said, bravery fading.
“What, are you scared?” Rafe taunted.
“No!” you insisted. You smiled at him, suddenly feeling like the two of you were ten again and he was daring you to jump off the trampoline into the pool in your backyard.
Now or never. With a deep breath and a sharp yelp, you threw yourself out of the tree and towards his waiting arms on the balcony. As promised, he caught you, and pulled you quickly over the bannister. His arms wrapped around your waist, yours around his shoulders, he held you there just a few inches off the ground.
You flattened your hands against the taut muscles of his shoulders, delighting in the strong warmth of them. But before you could fully revel in the feeling of being in his arms, he released his grip on your waist and you dropped the final few inches to the ground. Rafe quickly stepped back, breaking the lock your arms had around his neck. Despite the southern summer heat, the air between you suddenly felt ice cold.
“Rafe,” you whispered, stepping towards him, but he only pulled further away.
“You shouldn’t be here,” he said without even looking at you.
Rafe started back towards his window, and something gave you the feeling he was not going to invite you to follow him through it.
“I need to talk to you,” you started to explain.
Rafe whipped around to face you, the way he towered over you at his new height sending goosebumps down your spine.
“Why don’t you go talk to your new boyfriend instead?” He snapped.
You were so stunned that you let out a little laugh, which only made his furrowed brow scrunch even more in anger.
“What are you talking about?” You asked.
“I saw the pictures your camp was posting on their website all summer. I saw you wrapped around that douchebag.”
It took a moment of confused silence for you to realize what he was talking about, when it finally dawned on you, you laughed again. He turned from you and started heading towards the window again, but you caught his arm, your hand not able to fit even halfway around it.
“No, Rafe,” you explained, “That was just Andy, one of the other campers. We were doing a trust fall exercise. He dropped me like two seconds after that!”
Despite himself, Rafe turned to look at you, eyes examining you nervously.
“Are you ok?” He asked in a small voice, wishing desperately that he didn’t care.
You smiled softly, there he was - your boy.
“I’m fine,” you assured him, showing him the small scar on your wrist. “Just a little scrape.”
A moment passed, he avoided your eyes but allowed you to step closer, your hand sliding down his arm and slipping into his, his fingers reluctantly intertwining with yours. You knew exactly what words he was struggling to find, but decided to let him get there on his own.
Finally, “Why didn’t you answer my letters?”
Your other hand reached into your back pocket and pulled out the envelope you had tucked away. You held it out to him wordlessly. He took the letter and held it to the light coming from his room, examining it with a confused look. The envelope was addressed to him at Tannyhill, from you at camp. When he finally noticed the “return to sender” label, it all clicked.
“They kept getting returned to me, I don’t know why,” you said as you squeezed his hand. “I asked to use my phone to let you know but they wouldn’t let me. I almost just snuck out of camp and came home so I could explain it to you.”
“Your mom would’ve been so mad,” he said, finally, finally smiling at you.
“Then she would’ve just taken away my phone and we’d be back where we started,” You said. “There’s like twenty more letters like that. I don’t know why they never made it to you, it’s like someone was sabotaging me.”
Rafe seemed satisfied with your explanation and the remaining bit of anger on his face melted away completely. He stuffed the letter in his pocket and suddenly threw his arms around you, lifting you in the air as you yelped in surprise, giggling as he started planting sloppy kisses all over your face and neck.
“Shhh, baby, my parents will hear you,” he whispered. “They’ve got me locked in my tower because I failed my last quiz in this fucking summer school pre-calc class.”
“Rafe!” you said in mock-scandal. “Naughty language!”
“Oh, baby, I can say way naughtier things than that,” he growled in your ear, your cheeks now burning from real-scandal.
“C’mon,” he said, setting you down and grabbing your hand, to lead you to his still-open window.
He placed his large hand on the small of your back as he helped you through the window, climbing in after you and closing it slowly so as to not make a sound.
You and Rafe had done some more-than-kissing things before, but that was the night you gave yourselves to each other completely. He held you after, softly kissing the scar on your arm from when Andy had dropped you.
“Never gonna let that Andy asshole touch you again,” he said between kisses. “He can find his own girl, you’re mine.”
You giggled and he looked up at you in confusion.
“Rafe,” you were laughing hard now. “Andy’s gay.”
He broke into a bashful grin, a quick blush of embarrassment swept across his cheeks before he grew serious again and started kissing up your arm.
“I don’t care,” he said. “They should all know - all the Andys and Jakes and Chads and whoeverthefucks,” his kisses had reached your neck, “no guy is ever gonna get to touch you like me.” He pulled back and looked into your eyes with a sincerity that squeezed your heart. “Gonna love you forever. Gonna marry you, make you a mom. Never gonna spend three months, or even three fucking days away from you again. That what you want?”
“Yes,” you breathed, meaning it with your whole being.
“Good.”
Now…
The memories flooded your brain as you opened the door and stepped into the home you used to think would be yours someday. The party was swelling, the vibe feeling so familiar and so uncomfortable at the same time.
You made your way straight to the kitchen, desperately needing a drink. Every step you took sent a memory flashing through your thoughts like a shock to your brain. You passed the living room and saw movie-nights-turned-make-out-sessions on the couch, playing mario kart with Sarah and Wheezie while Rafe laughed at your hyper-competitiveness, prom pictures in front of the fireplace. You passed the dining room and saw the first family dinner you were invited to, how you made Ward laugh with a story about fishing your own dad used to tell, how Rafe squeezed your thigh under the table in pride. You entered the kitchen and saw the time you and Rafe set off the smoke alarm trying to make pancakes, the time he lifted you onto the counter and went down on you when his family was out of town. And then, standing by the keg, you saw the girl who invited you, clearly plastered already.
“Omg!” She yelled when she saw you.
Everyone else in the large kitchen turned and looked at you. It felt dramatic, but you could swear the whole room fell silent when they saw you, a comical record scratch playing in your head.
The girl who invited you ran over to you, beer sloshing over the side of her solo cup and onto her shirt.
“I can not believe you came,” she said, loud enough for everyone to hear. “I completely forgot when I invited you, about, you know, you and-”
“Can I get one of those?” you cut her off quickly, gesturing towards her drink.
Before she could answer, a loud crash came from outside the kitchen’s open french doors. The heads that had all been watching you suddenly snapped toward the sound towards the crowded back yard. When the loud bellow of a man’s voice rang out, the people in the kitchen all ran towards the unfolding scene. You pushed through the crowd and out the doors, drawn inexplicably to the voice. Your heart dropped to your stomach when you realized why - it was Rafe.
There in the backyard, packed with drunk people and lit by string lights, Rafe stood with his fist clenched in the collar of some guy’s white button up, forcefully pulling the scared looking dude toward him while he yelled.
“I said none of that fucking cheap shit,” Rafe yelled at the guy you now realized was a cater-waiter.
“I’m sorry sir, I-” Rafe threw the man down and he fell back in the dirt.
“This isn’t some ghetto block party out in The Cut,” Rafe yelled. “Do you know who’s fucking house you’re at right now?”
The crowd around you watched, most smiling in support of the man they looked at like he was a rockstar. You cringed at the looks of admiration in their eyes and took Rafe in with your own.
He looked different, harder. His floppy blond locks had been shaved off, and he had traded old t-shirts and jeans for slacks and a polo. He was as tall and built as you remembered, but instead of it being endearing, it was just scary as he looked down at the poor server like he was gonna kill him.
Then he spat on him. He actually spat on another human being. It disgusted you in more ways than one, and you felt your heart breaking in your chest as you realized you had no idea who this man was. The boy who held you on that night four years ago and promised to be yours forever clearly didn’t live here anymore. You turned quickly and pushed back through the crowd, unable to watch another second of this sickening display of toxic masculinity.
Rafe glared down at the pogue-scum in the dirt below him, an eerily familiar feeling washed over him as something moved quickly in the corner of his eye. He turned at just the right moment to see a whip of long hair disappear through the crowd.  But it wasn’t. It couldn’t possibly be. Surely, it was not you.

╰┈➤ ❝ [ Across the oceans with the stars as my guide, my Bride, I will find you ] ¡! ❞
Jinwoo was a huge mommy's boy, that's for sure. But like any other son, he also idolizes his father to the point that he begs Il-hwan to take him out to his mini ship trips to which the old man humors the little boy and teaches him how to be a good sailor.
Il-hwan often took Jinwoo in his short trips, mostly just to let the boy be more physically active. After all, young boys oughta be active to grow into healthy and happy men.
Well... That was until Il-hwan lost sight of Jinwoo who wandered off into the island the little boy was accompanying him into to deliver some goods.
While poor Sung Il-hwan's heart was about to burst from his chest— His son meanwhile... Was busy getting heart eyes and butterflies fluttering in silly little tummy.
Jinwoo was your typical idiot child after all, he is reckless and wanders off despite his father's strict orders not to be 10 steps farther away from him.
He just got curious at the pretty little shimmering shells on the sand that seemingly created a path for him to follow.
So what does he do? Duh, he follows it.
As he does so, Jinwoo carefully picks up each shell so he can turn them into a cute little seashell necklace or crown for his baby sister who was just recently born. She's his little princess and he wants to make her as pretty as she possibly can because she is his baby angel.
While picking up the last shell, Jinwoo was startled and fell back when he heard a splash on the waters. He thought for sure that it is his father but instead he was met with a curious gaze peeking behind a moss-covered rock. The orbs were wide and beady, similar to his but more naive. Adorned on the stranger's head were several pearls acting like a glittering stars against the lovely wet strands.
Jinwoo had dropped all the precious seashells he had picked up, but was too distracted on your gaze that the sheepish boy cant help but fumble around on himself.
"E-erm..." Jinwoo speaks up, but soon panicked as he saw your frightened expression. "W-wait, no, no... Don't be scared! I won't hurt you, promise!"
He says, hurriedly lowering himself and then stretching his tiny palms out to you to show that he meant no harm.
Well, how could such bright and round grey eyes show hostility anyway?
So, you also started fumbling around, pushing yourself closer to the curious human and pressing his palms against yours.
Jinwoo seemed to have had his breath hitch when your skins had touched. He kept sputtering out nonesense, before his tiny little digits intertwined with your with his face red to the very tip of his ears.
"Pretty..." Jinwoo mumbles shyly.
It was an odd language to you, but somehow you could tell that this curious little human was very gentle.
And when you beamed, he grins right after.
Innocent and lovely smiles on both your precious faces.
Jinwoo tugs at your hand, leading you to the water so you two could play. He didn't seem to care at the fact that both of you are two different species. While he had legs that could walk and run, you had a lovely tail that you use to traverse the lovely oceans.
You showed Jinwoo the prettiest parts of the waters, while he in turn showed you some tricks he could do. From hopskotch to doing cartwheels and climbing trees just to see you beam as he swung upside down.
Your voice was soundless, and he understood that you did that to protect his ears. There were stories that a siren's voice can burst one's eardrums unless you are bonded to one.
Jinwoo didn't know how long he played with you, but he eventually became tired and just curiously stared into your pretty and dreamy orbs seemingly carved out of the milky way while your foreheads are pressed together.
He then feels a swirl in his heart, a faint, blue glow eminating from underneath the fabric of his shirt. The boy realizes the peculiar feeling, looking down at himself.
But weirdly enough, he wasn't a tad bit alarmed at the mystical sight.
Just as he was about to ask you— Il-hwan's panicked and booming voice echoed from the forest behind the both of you and it instantly scared you away.
Jinwoo helplessly watched you dive into the waters, instantly disappearing into the distant blue.
As soon as Il-hwan sees his little boy, he immediately embraces a dumbfounded Jinwoo who was seemingly too frozen to say anything at all.
"Jinwoo, son, what has dad told—...." Il-hwan pauses, his words disappearing in his throat as he sees Jinwoo's tearful face.
"M-my siren"
"Siren?" Il-hwan scrunches his forehead.
"Dad, my siren!" Jinwoo yells, his face completely panicked as he starts to cry. "My siren, dad my siren! You have to get my siren back!"
"Jinwoo!..." Il-hwan's heart breaks at his son's wailing.
Jinwoo for one was never an insolent or needy child, he had always been good and obedient. Even a bit more closed off than most kids, he's a shy boy who never speaks much. But seeing the state of the poor child this distressed made Il-hwan's heart tremble with sadness.
All he could do was cradle the small boy who kept begging for him to find his dear siren.
⋅ ˚ ₊ ‧ ଳ ‧ ₊ ˚ ⋅ ⋆ ౨ৎ ˚ ⟡ ˖ ࣪
Jinwoo could never really forget that day, no matter how hard he tried he couldn't. Not that he would want to anyway. It would be the same memory night after night.
The sight of that precious siren, how his father spent hours trying to console him a she had his mental breakdown about his precious little 'Friend'.
He would grow into a fine young man, too fine in fact.
The desire to meet you again burned in his heart like a flame dancing in the pits of hell.
Jinwoo wants to find you.
Jinwoo has to find you.
He needs to.
After all, he worked several years earning a reputation in the seas as a cruel tyrant. Not that he is really a villain, no, in fact— He was just passing by a bunch of bastards trying to hijack his ship— The ship he spent hundreds of golds on in order for him to pursuit your missing figure. The nitwits just couldn't sit down and shut up for once.
He spent all of his youth practicing and preparing, researching as much as he can about sirens.
Their habitats, their breeding routes, and their most known locations.
Jinwoo is not an idiot, he actually returned to the very spot he had met you in but found no signs of siren activity. Not even a path of seashells was laid out anywhere even as he circled the shore hundreds of times.
Frustrating? Yes.
But nothing was more frustrating than the fact that all these fucking hooligan pirates were trying to ruin his chances of finding your precious existence in these vast oceans.
He can't waste time playing petty mind games and bargaining.
Jinwoo's gamble is him trying to find a sliver of your trace.
And as he stood bloodsoaked atop of the remains he had mauled so grotesquely, his head tilted upwards with the most faded and lifeless purple orbs gazing at the pouring rain— He felt a sharp stab at his chest.
"Captain!" Beru wails, dropping his sword as he hurriedly assisted his master who had almost collapsed on the floor.
"My liege, you've pushed yourself too much" Bellion says as he took off his cloak and draped it over Jinwoo's figure who was still clutching his chest as if out of breath. "I beg you, captain, please breathe."
"I can't rest not," Jinwoo grits his teeth, moaning in pain as he feels another sharp stab in his heart.
It felt as though his insides are being burned alive, roasting him from within while his heart throbbed like it had a dagger embedded in it's flesh twisting so torturously slow.
Between death and this pain, Jinwoo would have rather chosen the afterlife if it weren't for the fact that he's so fixated on seeking for his precious siren.
His crew would gather around, panicking and attempting to be of help but to no avail
Since eventually, Jinwoo would have passed out from the agony he feels.

"It's not looking good," Igris sighs, running his hand through his long strands after patching up Jinwoo's chest with a bandage. "His injuries are getting more severe by the day."
"Where did it come from?" Beru asks hastily, gritting his teeth. "Did my liege's siren curse him?"
"Far from it," Igris explains. "If the siren had indeed cursed captain, then there is no reason why his the skin directly on top of his heart would rot and create cracks like it's made of glass. The injury not only affects his heart, but also eats him from the inside out. The black ichor spilling out of the wound shows that this is a divine punishment"
"Divine Punishment?!" Beru bellows, his expression turning dark. "Our liege is a gentle soul, why would he of all the bastards of this godforsaken world would suffer such ailment?!"
"Beru, your temper." He sighs, pulling the blanket up to Jinwoo so that their captain could rest more easily. "He has not offended any god, nor is he being punished for his misdeeds."
He takes a deep breath, "It's the aftereffects of being seperated from their mate."
"Mate? But our liege is human?" Beru inquires, flabbergasted.
"Yes, but he has bonded with a siren" Igris scoffs, crossing his arms as if mocking Beru's lack of comprehension. "Our liege told us of the story, of how he met a lovely little siren his age when he was but a wee little lad. A glow suddenly emanated from his chest as if there was a star being planted in his body. That is a typical way for sirens to propose innocently. And our liege has wholly accepted the bonding ritual. Unfortunately, the siren had fled. Prolonged separation from one's mate can result in the symptom's our liege has been showing. His young body is strong hence why he could keep the injuries at bay most of the time. But it seems that our captain will reach his limit soon if we do not find that siren soon."
"...." Beru droops, feeling hopeless.
"Best we let him rest for tonight," Igris simply taps his shoulder, signaling for his colleague to leave the captain's quarters too.

Jinwoo had woken up in the middle of the night, he was completely exhausted from the battle that took place in the afternoon.
He reached out and downed the mug of water waiting at his bedside before getting up and donning a coat over his shoulders to take a simple walk on the empty deck.
"Where are you, really?" Jinwoo sighs, bringing his finger up where a tiny little fish made of water playfully nuzzled his digit. "My darling bride, how am I to gift you all the treasures I've coveted if I cant even have you here, hm?"
Jinwoo had discovered that the little fish friend he had been secretly summoning from his heart was in fact a proof that he and the siren had bonded. If humans had their rings, sirens would have these little creatures as proof of sacramental union.
It was adorable, really.
Sure, one could say that he is only searching for the siren with the sole purpose of prolonging his life but that wasn't his goal.
No.
Even if the bond didn't exist, Jinwoo would still choose the same path as he does now.
If he dies, his siren would die too.
And as a stubborn, reckless and steadfast king of the pirates who even has power above the holy king himself— Jinwoo wouldn't back down in this.
So long as he sees a star twinkling above the unruly oceans, he will continue to sail in search of his precious bride.

Hey! Hope you’re doing well this fine day~ I had a cute idea if u just wanna hear me rant about it.
So imagine teaching Killer a new pasta recipe whether that is a new sauce or new way to cook it and making it for him and watching him literally LIGHT UP with pure glee over how good it is. I say this as I’ve made my grandma’s spaghetti sauce which is STRAIGHT UP ADDICTING every time I make it and gobble it all up. Like the reader can be like a straw hat or kid pirate who is like hey I have this really yummy pasta recipe if you wanna try and afterwards she keeps on exchanging recipes with Killer and lowkey he in love with her mwahahaha (cause as they say in Princess and the Frog “the quickest way to a man’s heart, is through his stomach”). And she cooks it for him since he is always cooking 🥹🥹🥹
Also! I do have to add how much IM OBSESSED with the recent Hey Doc Drabble. Idk if you saw my tags but man I was GOING THROUGH IT. All the sweet nicknames and just the pure desperation for doc to be okay like 😭😭😭 and POOR HEAT AND BUBBLEGUM LIKE AWWWW I need a part 2 to that or SOMETHING just to see an aftermath if you will. Wire calling them “honey” had me WEAK.
Alright imma head out now, have a marvelous day/night 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️
How did I miss this 😭. Thank you for your beautiful compliments on the 'Hey Doc' series. It's been an absolute joy to write. Reading through tags and reblogs are my favourite: especially when it's as enthusiastic as yours has been. You're so much fun, and I very much appreciate the time you take to read and go through my silly things. I can't write a full fic, but I hope this little drabble satiates the need of cooking with Killer 🖤.

The one thing he hasn't managed to perfect is a pure, unadulterated Marinara. Anything to do with crushed tomato he finds too acidic, and over compensates with far too much salt to cut the tannins. He's tried everything: more onion, less herbs, malted brown sugar, refining his own salt by storing sea water on the oven, everything. He just can't seem to get it right.
Killer and pasta: his one weakness.
He would never admit it, but he has been attempting to perfect each recipe he comes upon. Pesto is all made from scratch: crushed fresh basil, the purest of virgin olive oils, a parmesan wheel with crispy salt crystals, oven toasted pine nuts, cloves of bulbed garlic, everything perfected by his skill in his kitchen. His pesto pasta is better than Sanji's, and the curly-browed chef is both impressed and intimidated by it.
Watching from a safe distance as you bounce gleefully within the dominion of the kitchen, he hunches his back and places his whiskered chin over his laced fingertips. He was unsure as to why you offered to cook for the crew, but your enthusiasm had him step aside to watch you work. It was the initial confession of homesickness that did it for him. Knowing food can aid in emotional regulation and comfort, he was more than happy to watch from his position sitting at the kitchen island.
And then the smell hit him.
The sweetness of roasting tomatoes, onion, garlic, and the herbal aromatics of thyme, rosemary and sage. The soft waft had his heart swell and beat in his chest and eyes twinkle in curiousity. Stirring the rotund vegetables in the pot and expertly crushing them with the blunt tip of the wooden spoon had him sit up attentively in his seat, watching you as you attend to the sauce from muscle memory alone.
He was in awe, perplexed, and intrigued.
Each time you would move on to another element of the dish, Killer would move a little closer. Each time your back was turned, he would perch himself just a little more towards the simmering pot. When you moved to the pantry to decide which shape of pasta to begin to boil, you could barely make out the shape of Killer's mask being partially elevated over his lips and nose by one large hand. Using a fresh spoon, he dips it into the sauce and puckers his purple-tinted lips and extends a breath of cool air to stifle the heat.
As soon as the first drops meet his tongue, he can't help the soft moan that escapes him at the flavor. Upon your return with a bag of penne in hand, you are immediately hoisted into the air with Killer's hands beneath your arms. Gently spinning you before placing you on the ground, he claps his arms over your shoulders and leans down closer. The purple hue of his lips is stretched up in a smile, his joy at your sauce immediately having him taken aback and fullfilled in the knowledge that he now has the answer he desperately seeks.
"Teach me. Please."
And who were you to deny him? It was a family recipe, and this crew aboard the Victoria Punk was your new family. Gently raising one of your hands to cup over his on your shoulder, you crinkle your nose at him and nod with a smile to match his own.
"Yes, chef."

• This Crusty Bastard has had the heart of the most beautiful women in the world.
• And didn't even realize it-
• You had all met on Gol D Roger's ship- Buggy being a snot nosed apprentice with his gaggle of friends- While you being one of the few girls on the ship was a cup bearer for your father. Silvers Rayleigh.
• This made you incredibly off limits to all, Sheltered by a life of luxury your father provided as your only real 'job' was to fill his cup. Even Gol D Roger the famed Captian spoiled you in cute dresses and expensive bows.
• Turning you into the Doll of the Oro Jackson.
• A Princess Wrapped in Silver and Gold
• You still remembered the first day you ment him-
• Both of you 13 years old, fresh faced kids still needing the guidance of adults.
• You'd snuck off from your normal areas, wanting to explore the ship some more. That's till you saw a boy- His face covered in what seemed to be gunpowder as he filled homemade bombs with total care.
• His blue hair peaking out of the red hat and drawing you to step a big closer to get a better look.
• The Tull of your sparkling dress catching the corner of his eye as he spun around quickly holding a knife out.
Tumblr media
• Then, Ocean eyes met Your own and time seemed to slow. Ever so slightly- Your cheeks warming as you gave a soft smile.
• "Hello" Your little voice slipped out, Buggy stating at you with unsure interest. A crooked smile on his lips as he greeting you quickly- "H-Hi!"
• "Is something wrong with your nose? It looks kinda funny" Buggy glares hard at you, making you blink in question at his reaction.
• Buggy covering his face, his ocean eyes starting to cloud with tears like a storm eyed he stared at you. "Whats so funny about my nose!? Huh!"
• "Well don't get angry- I don't mind. I think its cute. Im sorry if i offended you" You smile so sweetly, feeling bad for making his sad as Buggy felt his face start to glow.
• "You think.. My nose is cute?" He questioned, making you nod honestly. He giggled into his hands, a high pitch squeaky laugh that made you smile and your heart flutter.
• "Whats your name?" He grins at you, Hearing you actually want to know about him. "Buggy! What about you pretty girl?" Your face flushing at his words.
• "I'm-"
• "(Y/N)!" You heard your name being called before you could speak, recognizing the voice of your father.
• "(Y/N)- That's such a pretty name.. Will I see you again?" Buggy asked, his eyes sparking at such a chance. Your delicate hand reaching forward and tucking a strand of his blue hair back into his hat. "I will try"
• And try you did. For a year the two of you would meet, talking on the deck of the ship for hours till you had to sneak away again. Buggy even using his Chop Chop abilities to help you get back to your room.
• It was tragic to say, but you'd never get a chance to see Buggy for many many years after your 14th birthday- Your Father sending you to an Island to keep you safe as you entered your teens.
• The disbanding of the Roger Pirates aiding in this as well-
• The death and heartache Seeming to follow you as you found yourself handing in the hands of Sir Crocodile.
• Crocodile having had an interest to whoo you for years- as he too had met you on Gol D Roger's ship, finding you the only person more then suitable to be at his side.
• You had never truly accepted his advances, Despite his power, status and more. He didn't have your heart, and you wouldn't give him any part of yourself in compensation.
• Decades it had been like this, still the girl wrapped in silver and gold. Hoarded like treasure for everyone to admire, however nothing more.
• But it seemed the tides were beginning to change- After Crocodile time in Impel Down- as well as the formation of the Cross Guild- You would meet your blue haired friend once again. Just in a unique Flashy way
• AKA by his head being punched off by Crocodile and accidently flung into your waiting chest.
Tumblr media
• "(Y/N)?-" He mumbled against your bust, your cheeks flaring deep crimson as he floated his head up to lock eyes with your flushed face.
• He got his ass beaten for that by Crocodile of course-
• But for you it was like your heart was Kickstart again!
• At the Cross Guild, you'd always attend. Crocodile assuming it was because you were warming up to him, But in truth it was to see Buggy-
• The two of you talking to each other constantly. He was so fascinating to you-
• Like you two were children again falling in love- Sitting out under the stars talking for hours. You tucking strands of his blue hair back into his hat, him fixing any Imperfections on yohr dresses as you sat next to him. Which often lead to Buggy giggling into his gloved hands while turning away from you
• You accepted him as he was, and adored him for it. You loved his mind, his passion, even his laziness and lewd humor.
• As time went on, you noticed the same for him. How he would ask you YOUR interest, what things YOU actually liked.
• Something no one had asked you since you were a child. Most just assuming your taste and interest.
• Hell when he came for meetings he would bring you something you'd actually want. Not just shiny things to make you look more valuable.
• "Hey (Y/N)!" Buggy cloaked towards you excited as he held out a old dirty crate to you. "I remeber you said you really liked weird plants, so I found these old books and scientist-y samples of the weirdest! Hope you like them!"
• You'd almost cried at the gift, so overfill with you you hugged Buggy. Before spending hours going through the crate and organizing it all to your liking.
• However with the sweets, came the sours...
• There had been countless times you'd walk into the Guild and see Buggys face. Beaten and bruised- How Crocodile and Mihawk kicked his ass as their own personal stress relief or just to show dominace.
• It broke your heart.. truly- Buggy humiliated like that infront of everyone time and time again... You would try to comfort him after the meetings but he would just run away- You swore you saw tears in his eyes a few times.
• You'd want to many times to have him run into your arms, so you could whisper how good of a man he is and deserving so love.
- It had been a particularly festive day in the Guild Hall, Crocodile dressing in a nicer suit as better food was served and fancy alcohol was served. You even being gifted a dress by the Desert King himself to wear today, you didn't refuse but felt rather uncomforble at how attentive he was acting with you.
And uncomfortable that he had purposely sat Buggy so far away from you..
As dinner was being served, Crocodile stood up from his seat next to you. Slapping his hand on the table to gather everyone's attention.
"I have an announcement-" Crocodile voice boomed through the room, you glancing up as the hook handed man gestured for you to stand. Which you silently did-
Oh No...
"(Y/N)- Daughter of Silvers Rayleigh. A women of greatness and deserving of only the finest of riches"
No...
"I ask for your hand- I swear I will give you all the wealth you desire"
Please No...
"From Riches, Silks and even the One Piece if your little mind wishes for it"
NO!
"Will you Marry me?"
Something inside you just snapped. Staring at Crocodile face that had the crooked cigar hanging from his lips.
Crocodile taking your silence positively as he handed you a velvet box with a massive diamond ring inside of it.
You stared at the ring box that had been placed in your glove hands and felt... nothing. Absolutely nothing...
Before A fire of rage filled your insides-
"We- We aren't even dating!-" You shouted, everyone looking to yoh in shock as you looked around wildly.
"What makes you think I want to stay by your side!? You were just ment to protect me not use me as a Scudo Girlfriend! I'm not yours nor will I ever be!-" Crocodile face starting to turn red, his eyes glancing around him before setting on you with a harsh glare.
"So I-I can't accept this" You finally hissed out, bright red in the face from both embarrassment and anger. Everyone in the Guild Hall staring at you in total shock.
"Besides My Heart... Belongs to someone else-" Crocodile eyes widen as he clenched his hands in rage. You handing the ring box back to him delicately, before turning to look at Buggy who had been picking his nose diassociating heavily at the dramatics. Only coming back to reality when he saw everyone was staring at him-
Buggy stares confused, 'Why are you all looking at me?' He looked behind himself first, Then around to see who you could be talking about, that had your heart. Realizing quickly he was alone and you actually ment HIM!
"Wait Me!?"
• After such a stunning yet shocking reveal, Crocodile cut you lose. Feeling you embarrassed him infront of everyone- Which had been the greatest day of your life!
• As you fly into Buggy's (Who got beaten senseless once again) arms. Who accepts you happily into his life-
• Frolicking away to his Circus Themed Ship in what can only be described as total Joy!
• "HAHAHAHAHA I WIN!!" He yells out, holding you in his arms as he flips off Crocodile once more and holds you in his arms.
• You adore his Flashy Crusty ways, the way he weirdly cackled and utter lack of emotional control.
• Oh How you love your Crusty Clown!

A princess armor
Tumblr media
Zoro x princess!reader
afab reader, fluff, mentions of misogyny in reader’s past
1.5k words
Tagging: @alucardsdaddyissues
When you heard about some group of pirates docking on your island you didn’t quite expected them to rescue you, after all, you hated to be seen as a damsel in distress
Nonetheless, there was nothing wrong in asking for help. And hell you needed it
Being born a woman and the only heir to your fathers throne had turned your life into a living hell since you can recall; overlooked, treated like a decoration only expected to marry rich and powerful, your father ever cold and absent hated your mere existence, a remainder of his failure to continue his strong lineage because no matter what you did you were never enough
And hell you had worked so hard to impress that old man; you were a remarkable fencer, excelling in every topic of conversation you had been educated in, always being praised by your strategy abilities and expected to be the perfect queen by this alone. The list of your achievements was long, an overachiever if you will… but he never cared, what can any of that be of use in the body of a woman?
You hid your emphatic and kind heart under a strong cold armor to protect yourself from the cruel world around you; still, Monkey D. Luffy was able to tear trough it, offering him and his crew a sympathetic hand
You thought you were helping them, turns out they were helping you. The moment the colorful crew heard about your life behind the walls of the castle and your fathers evil empire, they didn’t hesitate in taking you in, after all you had been more than helpful and kind
So you escaped joining them as the strategist and diplomat for the crew, finally free from expectations, slowly taking your armor off before it had rusted into you forever
“What can a princess know about fighting anyway?” Zoro’s voice is sharp and quick to ambush you, you wished his opinion about you didn’t mattered, but as you are about to set sail by his side you can’t help the need to defend your case climbing quickly to your tongue
“I’ve been educated by the greatest warriors and strategist in my kingdom as I was expected to rule my nation one day”- every single word leaves your mouth like butter, an ease and confidence the swordsman perhaps didn’t expect from someone with your background, you stand proud with eyes that pierce right trough his being and eyebrows scrunched down without a drop of a doubt making him shiver.- “Believe me Mr. Roronoa, I am more than capable”
And that was no lie. Every since your arrival to the crew, the strawhats found themselves winning their battles with much ease and organization; the number of injuries after battle dropped immensely, your time in the battlefield reduced in half and no one was getting lost, the latter being resolved by planting you beside the stubborn green haired swordsman that was obviously not happy about this new routine
“Stop following me, princess” he grumbled, your step quickening at the same rythm as his which was quite the hassle from your part considering one step from Zoro was two of your own
“Stop calling me that”- your hand flies to grab on his shirt, your touch stiffening every muscle on his back and his heart skipping a beat, a feeling unwelcome and alien. As uneasy as he felt, his step never falters leading you behind him as you trot around the streets, annoyance clear on your face.- “As much as I want to continue my errands without you, I don’t want you getting lost around here, this is not a welcoming place for pirates and your face is quite recognizable”
His walking finally comes to a halt, making you quite literally crash behind him a yelp of surprise escaping through your lips.- “Fine” he finally relents
Zoro replays that evening in his head over and over as he peeks down from the crows nest, it was the first time you made his stomach turn and this strange warmth extend trough his body, and he still wonders why. While Usopp and Luffy play cards, he watches as you take the cards that the sniper was hiding on the back of his overalls making Luffy get up and bash on him as you laugh. The sound even tough muffled by the glass makes him smile, that same feeling he recalled moments ago blooming in his being once again, but he now welcomes it
So he wonders what would it take him to impress you, to make you want him as much as he wants you, you’re royalty after all. The stories of the suitors that had knocked at your door with gifts and promises still on the back of his mind sour and venomous, he compared himself to them and it dawned on him the act that he had nothing to offer you, other than his own life, was that enough for you?
Little did he know you were trying to impress him since day 1 on the ship, training day and night to earn his respect and admiration which best believe you already got more than that, yet you seemed to find yourself repeating the same pattern of your old life
“You did great back there” Zoro commented one time, before taking a swing from his beer. You turned your attention to him, admiring the way his earrings glistened with the light of the bar, a smile quick to spread on your face that you erased as fast as it came, not wanting to give yourself away
“Really? Thanks” even though your tone was nonchalant and casual your insides did a 360, relishing on your victory, after spending the last few months over training like a maniac and studying more fencing techniques had finally earned you a compliment, his compliment
Zoro’s eyes go over and over your form, as if trying to keep it in his memory to admire you even when you weren’t there which could be much easier, since the mere thought of you made him stumbling. As if in command, you look up to the crows nest, your gaze locking with his for a fleeting moment that makes Zoro loose track of thought, you offer him a sweet smile and a tiny wave which he answers by freezing for a while, then scowling and turning away from the window
Oh god
The thing about this whole tangle of gazes, feelings and smiles was that Zoro could not figure you out; you were a mystery, a concept that he can’t quite grasp even after months of knowing you and quite literally living with you on the sea. You had the elegance and gentleness of a princess out of a romance book, and the bravery and might of a warrior, all of that wrapped around your wit and beauty that had him losing his breath
He felt useless
His mind drifting to images of you while he trained, dreams by your side slipping on his sleep, his eyes glued to you in the battle field, his heart singing your name at any change it got
What can he could possibly give you that you don’t already have?
“Boo!!!”- Your voice startles him pulling him out of his daze, something he was certainly not used to, his eyes jump to your face painted with a big smile as you giggle at his expense.- “Got ya”
You sit delicately by his side, still giggling while he clicks his tongue to express his annoyance.- “That’s not really princess of you to do” you frown at the title just as he expected, his scowl turning into a proud smirk
“Stop calling me that” you turn to face the window behind both of you, looking over the deck
“Hiding from someone?” Zoro comments although he already has an idea
“Let’s just say Usopp doesn’t quite like being called out on his cheating” a honest loud laugh rumbled from the bottom of the swordsman chest, eliciting a bright smile from you, It is this moments that you treasure, moments that feed on your heart that had long belonged to him without even knowing it
The sunset beams that color the sky crash on your features, brightening your presence making Zoro’s mind wonder once again. He couldn’t understand how could you take him out of it by simply being, his eyes take another round around you, stopping at your plump lips. A new feeling takes over him, it makes his chest heavy and his breath erratic as he stops himself from crashing into them. Suddenly his doubts puddled as you sink at his side, a playful glint in your eye as his heart clenched at the thought of you seeking him while looking after a safe place
He may not be royalty, have absolutely nothing but his katanas to his name but he’ll bend the world backwards for you, and something tells him you don’t want all that fancy shit other men could offer you, you want genuine love, real love. So he savors the quiet in your company up on the crows nest, slowly letting both of you guards down to embrace each other, the armor that you once hid behind long discarded leaving you bear and free
Because whats more romantic than that?

You didn't know what happened after you were forced to leave the arena. You were placed on a cell with two of your fellow warriors guarding as you waited for the outcome of the battle.
"Please! Atleast tell me, Is Marguerite alright...? What about the other two? Sweet Pea and Aphelandra..? Are they alright.?"
"I'm sorry, (Name). But we can't disclose anything to you. All we can say is that the Gorgon sisters are battling that strange man as we speak..."
You sat there in the cell for what it felt like hours. You didn't know what had happened until you were finally allowed to be freed.
However, as soon as you left your cell, you found yourself face to face with one of the Gorgon sister, Boa Sandersonia towered over your form as she gestured you to follow her.
"(Name), Our older sister ordered for you to appear before her."
"May I ask the reason why?"
"You'll see when you get there."
You can see how hesistant her tone was as she refused to look at you in the eye. By her body language alone, you can tell how uneasy and nervous she was being. So to avoid making her uncomfortable, you decided to refrain from talking until you reached the snake princess' bed chambers.
"Oh! It's you!"
Luffy pointed his finger towards you as soon as you entered. His shock expression soon changed to excitement and relief, a grin appearing on his face.
"You're okay! I got worried when they took you away, glad to see that you're not hurt."
You gave him a gentle smile of acknowledgement before focusing your attention towards your empress who sat on her snake, Salome. She was staring directly at you, observing your interaction with the only man in the room.
"Come closer, the two of you..."
She commanded. Unlike Luffy, who approached her without any care, you cautiously took a step forward, expecting for a scolding, a punishment even.
Only for your eyes to widen in shock as she revealed her bare back on to the two of you.
"Snake Princess, but that's-! What about the curse..?!"
You immediately shielded your eyes. Hers and her sisters' backs are a sensitive subject that the whole island knew about. And here she was revealing it for you to see, was this your punishment? For you to turn to stone for disobeying her orders and allowing Luffy to live? Even going far to defending him back at the arena.
"I trust you, (Name). And it is about time you know the truth..."
There on her back, was a symbol dyed in red, circular center with four triangles resembling a claw. At that moment, you see how her shoulders trembled as you observe her mark.
"Is...is it alright for you to show it to us...? my empress, it is something you forbit anyone from discovering..."
You can see how it pained not only her but also Marigold and Sandersonia. Grandma Nyon encouraged to reveal the story, and after a few moments, you finally understood everything.
It was the mark of authority far more superior than of the Pirate Empress. The Celestial Dragon's mark, specifically the mark of slaves that belongs. Everything she experienced and the sufferings she has to endure with her sisters, she revealed it all to you and Luffy.
You stayed silent as Luffy was escorted out, him being invited to the banquet that was host whenever the Kuja Pirates return to the Island with a huge haul. You stayed behind as you felt like you shouldn't leave Hancock alone after everything that had been revealed.
"Has your view of me changer after finding out that I was a former slave...?"
"Can I really speak out my thoughts, Snake Princess? My most honest thoughts?"
You asked, revealing her secret doesn't mean that you should carelessly speak up. Boa Hancock is still the Empress of Amazon Lily, the ruler of the land you were born in.
"I will allow it."
"Then, I will reply with a No....No, I don't think any lesser of you, my empress. In fact, I think....that for to you endure such torment and rise above it is truly admirable. My respect for you just got deepened."
You spoke with true genuine in your tone. Yes, you were anguished with what you just heard. The sufferings of the people who look up upon brought pain in your heart.
"I think that...your past doesn't defy who you are. It just shows how truly strong you are."
For the first time in your life, in years of serving the Pirate Empress. This was the first time you ever saw her smile with tears in her eyes.
Tumblr media
It was then night time when Hancock dismissed you from your duties, having kept you around for a longer conversation. You found out the truth about your mother, yet you only found yourself slightly upset. You don't really remember what she look like nor what her personality were when she was alive, however, you could still remember the warmth she emitted whenever both of you share a tender embrace as she on board the empress' ship.
Hancock's attitude around you seems to have slightly changed now. She was more vocal of what she feels and treats you better than she did before, asking for your opinions and outlook of the village. The conversation began changing to how managing the island whenever she was out.
"As you now know, my presence here is somehow a threat. I'm a pirate with a bounty so great, continue doing your duties as usual."
She was more comfortable with you now. Just by thinking about it, made you smile as you nodded at her orders. Eager to aid her with everything.
"Yes, my empress... You can always rely on me."
you immediately went back to the village where the banquet is being held. Now in a more casual clothing, you entered the room and immediately sense the tense atmosphere among the women present there.
The center of their attention was Luffy who was sitting, eating his heart out as dishes were served on his table.
"What's going on?"
"(Name) is it really okay for a man to be present on the homecoming banquet.?"
One of the warriors asked, a look of concern is visible on her face, glancing at Luffy with skeptism.
"The Snake Princess already favors him, therefore we will treat Luffy with hospitality."
Just as you said that, Luffy stood up on the table with a ladle and wok pan, demanding that the women should sing and dance since it is a banquet.
A small smile made way on to your lips, covering them as you let a small giggle of amusement.
In that instant, the atmosphere changed into a lively one with the women eventually joining in, copying Luffy as he danced and pranced around.
Lively to the point, they all got comfortable around him.
"Hey now. Everyone, that's enough."
You scolded, seeing how they all gotten too comfortable around him to the point they all have been reaching towards his rubbery skin.
"Hey!"
Soon you found yourself looking for Luffy as the women all went after him in hopes of touching his skin.
"There you are, Luffy..."
You found him crouching on a building roof. As soon as you said that, his long rubbery arms stretched and grabbed you by your waist towards him.
"Geez...What's the matter with you guys?!"
"I apologize on their behalf. It's just... we barely seen a man this close before..."
You gave him an apologetic smile. Seeing that, he soon let out a laugh as he told you that it was fine.
"I never really got to thank you for defending me in that arena earlier."
"I...just did what I thought was right...."
You told him, slightly ashamed on your actions yet you never regretted it. Yes, you felt guilty for disobeying the Snake Princess, but you couldn't find it in yourself to just allow them to kill Luffy when it wasn't his fault that he ended up stranded on your Island.
"Say Luffy...What does the outside world looks like...?"
You asked. Your curiosity resurfaced after many years of trying to supress it, was it because of Luffy being here? But after becoming Boa Hancock's closest aid, you devoted yourself to follow every command without questions. Your loyalty overcame the curiosity about the world outside of Amazon Lily.
"Are....the seas really that vast? Are there really more islands out there?"
Back then, Hancock barely spoke to you and you could only rely on either Sandersonia or Marigold to tell you all about what they had seen while traveling through the seas. Brief conversations that could never satisfy you. It was thirst of wanting something that you know you will never have.
After all you have a duty to serve and protect Amazon Lily as it's devoted warrior.
"I dunno. Our adventures are always been exciting that I never really cared how big the sea is. But I do know that the Grandline is huge! I can't wait to sail and see everything with my crew!"
Luffy told you about his recent adventures. From his entry to the grandline, meeting Laboon the huge whale, up to his battles on Thriller Bark.
"There are Islands in the sky?!"
"Yeah! I even beated up this guy with long earlobes!"
"Woah..!"
Luffy grinned as he stared at your sparkling eyes that was looking back at him with wonder and admiration. He was reminded of Chopper just by staring at you. He wanted to see his crew badly now.
"I'll sail through these seas and become the King of Pirates!"
"I'm sure that you'll be able to do it!"
You encouraged, getting all hyped up from just his words alone. Luffy's aura reminded you of the sun and its brightness. That's how you felt just being near him.
Warmth.
"You know, you could just get on board that pirate ship your Empress have. You'll see how big the grandline is, with your own eyes."
You faltered at his words, he seem to have noticed and started to frown.
"What's wrong?"
"I just....feel like I have a sense of duty to stay here. And the snake princess said it herself. I'm not ready to leave the Island just yet."
"Why? You're already strong..."
"I can't disobey the Snake Princess, Luffy..."
Why can't you disobey? Was it because obeying her was something that you already drilled into your mind at a young age...? Or is it because you can't make decisions for yourself without having someone tell you what to do.
You grew up never knew how to say 'No'. It was always you doing what you have been told without ever complaining whether the task is easy or difficult. Because you hated to disappoint not only your Empress but also your fellow warriors.
"I see..."
Luffy just looked at you as if he already knows what was going on, yet he didn't say anything. His eyes stared at your tense and slightly trembling form. He then went through his pockets and pulled out a chunk of meat that he managed to save right before he was chased after by the Kujas.
"I do what I wanna do, I'm captain of my ship. Not even my crew can stop me!....Well maybe Nami. She's scary like a demon."
He took a huge bite before looking back at you with a grin. Seeing bits of meat stuck on his teeth made you laugh slightly. Luffy is really is a silly man.
"It doesn't hurt not to listen all the time. You went to defend me even when you know that you'll be in trouble. You do what you think is right!"
Your words from earlier came back towards you. You couldn't help but grew fond of him, hearing his somehow meaningful words as he feasted on the meat was holding without a care in the world.
He doesn't even seems to realize the effect his words he had on you.
"Thank you, Luffy...."
You stood up from your place and immediately waved discreetedly towards Marguerite who spotted you right away.
"Hey...! What are you doing?!.... They might see me and chase me again...!"
"You need a place to hide, right? Don't worry, Marguerite knows what to do. She'll take you there."
Tumblr media
When Luffy came back from Marineford, he was gravely injured. You could only watch from the distance as the men wearing white boiler suits docked at the far side of the Island.
The last time you saw him was when he left in a hurry to save his brother Ace from execution. Your Empress gave you a brief summary of what had happened and gave you temporary management of the warriors while her and her sisters sailed off.
"(Name)...Keep watch over those men on the far side of the Island. Report back once Luffy regain conciousness...please..."
The Snake Princess looks very distraught, so you immediately agreed upon hearing her request. Not a command, but a request. You could never deny a request.
Two weeks. That was how long you kept watch. The warriors back at the village would often bring you meals. By following the rules with the exception of Luffy, you kept your distance from the men and hid on top of trees.
Eventually, Luffy woke up. You were happy and was about to report until you noticed something odd.
Luffy went on a rampage.
"Hey...Can you report this to the Snake Princess in my stead? Tell her that Luffy regained conciousness..."
You asked a fellow Kuja who happens to be nearby. From the distance you could hear distant shouting of intense agony and destruction.
"Luffy!"
You stood on top of a tree branch, watching in absolute shock, as Luffy destroys everything around him. Trees and boulders. Nothing was left untouched. You began to worry that he might reopen his wounds.
Fortunately, the blue fish-man managed to calm him down. But the sight of Luffy crying made you feel a sudden ache from within too. As if you could feel his pain. Luffy lost his brother, and it somehow hurt you too.
"It must have hurt so much....doesn't it...Luffy?"
You were hurting for him. You want him to show his usual sunshine smile like he always have. Crying is not something you want to see Luffy do yet you don't even know how to comfort him.
"I want to approach and say something but..."
You weren't naive. You know of the snake princess' illness and how much she needs Luffy if she wants to live long. So to spare your own feelings you decided at that moment, to stay away from him even after growing so fond of him. How much you wanted to be there for him now that he needed someone to lean on as he suffers.
"The....empress' happiness comes first..."
So now, you could only watch on a distance as your heart breaks from hearing his cries.

Welcome Home! Shanks (OPLA)
Tumblr media
You only see Shanks once a year, and when you do you like to take care of him. Shanks x Female Reader fluff :) You wanted more Shanks so here he is!
SHANKS
'Captain we're here!' Yasopp calls out, knocking on my quarter's door.
After spending a year at sea it was always nice to come back to Prisluake, a small island we'd discovered by chance. It became known as The Lake of the Princesses because the town revolved around a lake and there were lots of attractive women which being a pirate crew meant some good times.
Everyone on the island was friendly, there were places to restock the ship and plenty of good food and drink. But there was one extraordinary person I insisted on coming back to see even if I had to use the guise of restocking the ship as an excuse.
y/n owned a small place just off the docks that had some of the best fish dishes I and my crew had ever tasted, but it wasn't just the food that drew me in three years ago. y/n had a twinkle in their eye that lit up when I told them stories, a warm smile that put everyone at ease and a friendly demeanour that made you want to be around them.
I let out a yawn, we'd had some rough weather on the way here so sleep had become almost impossible, but that wouldn't stop me from reuniting with y/n. I pick up a wooden box containing a gift for y/n and head out of my quarters. Even though y/n had never left their island they were obsessed with maps and compasses, so I made sure to get them a new compass each time we came through.
I didn't need to tell the crew what to do, we were a well-oiled machine, so I left them to their own devices and headed off the ship. The first thing I noticed was the closed sign on y/n's place, then again it was still the morning and they didn't open until the afternoon so I'd find them at their house.
Before I can even knock on the front door it swings open revealing a very happy and beautiful y/n, 'I thought you were due yesterday, welcome back.'
Another yawn escapes my lips, 'rough seas. Were you worried about me?'
y/n blushes slightly and shakes their head, 'No...you can take care of yourself Shanks...come inside...'
I walk inside and place the wooden box down, only to have y/n throw themselves at me and kiss me on the lips. For a second tiredness leaves me and I fully embrace y/n, keeping my arm around their waist to secure them and kissing back with equal neediness.
y/n pulls back, 'How long are you here for?'
I rest my forehead against theirs, 'we don't have anywhere to be so short while, why?'
y/n smirks, 'Good, because if I'm being honest you look like hell in the nicest way possible, so all this can wait a day.'
Now those were not the words I expected to come out of y/n's lips but I can't help but throw my head back and laugh. y/n was warm and friendly, but had a sharp tongue and wasn't afraid to speak their mind which made being around them just that bit more exciting.
'Thanks. Then I'm going to bed, and you're coming with me.'
y/n shakes their head and pats my hair, 'No. You should have a bath first.'
This was a priceless interaction, and I can't help but continue laughing as I carry y/n towards their bathroom, 'okay, but if I pass out and drown, that's on you.'
y/n must have got word the ship was coming because the bath was already run. I place them down and they start undressing me, being gentle around my lost arm because I was still getting used to it even though the incident with Luffy was over a year ago. When I first came back to y/n they fawned over me and I'd be lying if I didn't like the attention, and knew they were special when they kissed the scarred stub and called me brave. After a couple of drinks, they called me stupid but went back to lavishing me with praise.
I slip into the warm water and y/n comes up behind me and kneels down, 'you treat me well y/n,' I say, in more of a whisper, letting the water soothe my aching muscles.
y/n hums, 'Everyone needs a little TLC Shanks.'
I close my eyes as they start to wash my hair, and let out a sigh of contentment when y/n massages my scalp. After they are done I open my eyes and turn my head to meet their eyes, 'you really are special to me y/n.'
y/n's smile reaches their eyes, and despite my dripping wet hair, I bring up my hand to cup their chin and kiss them tenderly on the lips. y/n's cheeks were a bright shade of red as I moved my thumb over their cheek in a caress, 'God you've got me hooked captain.'
After some more soft kisses, y/n washed my whole body, and if I wasn't in awe and tired I might just have pulled y/n into the tub with me to feel more of their touch on my body. But they said earlier we had time to do that, but right now I was at ease being taken care of.
y/n helps me out of the tub, but before they can get a towel on me I scoop them up in arms and march out of the bathroom with a squirming and giggling y/n in my arms, '...stop Shanks...' y/n slaps my bare chest.'
We enter the bedroom and I put y/n down on the end of the bed, their now damp clothes clinging to them, 'see I stopped.'
y/n rolls their eyes and gets off the bed, 'You're one a kind Shanks. Now get yourself in bed,' they demand but sound playful.
y/n pulls the sheets back and I put my hand on my chest, 'how am I meant to sleep with you talking dirty?' I joke.
I climb into the bed and am surprised when y/n joins me, pulling the sheet over the two of us, 'I'll stay until you're asleep. Then when you wake up I'll cook you a nice meal and you can do whatever you want to me. Deal?'
I pull y/n against my chest and smirk, 'You drive a hard bargain but you have a deal.'
It wasn't until I shut my eyes and felt y/n tracing lines across my chest that the full weight of tiredness took over. I guess I could sleep for a couple of hours.

Think I need someone older || Trafalgar Law x fem!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Words: 2.8k
Summary: Law was resting for a couple of days in a remote island and he has been amazed by you since he saw you the first day.
Warnings: +18, smut, rough sex, p in v, daddy kink (just two times), age difference (law is in his 40s and reader is in her late 20s), pet names, no use of y/n, possessive Law, dom Law, semi-public sex (in a library)
Note: so it’s Law’s birthday tomorrow what better way to celebrate it, than with a smutty one shot of the hottest man in OP.
Materialist
Law was sitting in that old bar from an island he didn’t even remember it’s name. His crew and him were resting in that town after a couple of weeks of sailing across the West Blue. Nothing interesting was happening in that town, ordinary people with ordinary lives. Or at least that’s what he thought when he stepped a foot on that island, until he saw you, a beauty. Law wasn’t a man that would fall on his knees for a woman after only seeing her but for you, he would. Your beauty was unmatchable, never in his years of sailing had he come across with such beauty.
You passed next to him, moving your hips making it impossible for him to look away. The floral dress you were wearing that day, short, showing your long legs, drove him crazy. And ever since that day he couldn’t seem to get the thought of you out of his head. He shook his head and finished his cup. He needed to go to the library of the town and see if he could find some medicine books he was looking for, or else he would have to stop on the next island.
He walked across the streets of the small town, searching for you, trying to see if he could see you on the market. But nothing, you weren’t around. He sighed and went to the library, he opened the door with one hand and the other one holding his katana. He looked around searching for someone that could help him.
“Leave… a client came in. I don’t want to keep talking about this anymore. So you better leave and don’t come back here.” He heard a voice, a female voice.
He waited there, without moving, just looking around at the books that were on the shelves.
“Hi excuse sir. How can I help you?” Law turned around and there you were, as stunning as the first day. You were wearing another floral dress, and your hair was on a braid that fell down on your back. And fucking hell, you were giving him the most beautiful smile.
“Yes, I’m looking for some medicine books.” He said swallowing, you nodded and told him to follow you.
You walked in front of him and you could feel his eyes all over you. Just like the first day when you saw him in town. You couldn’t lie, that man, catched your eye when you first saw him. It looked familiar and of course it was familiar, he used to be one of the famous Super Novas, in the same generation as the King of the Pirates, Monkey D. Luffy. He was in fact, the Surgeon of the Death, Trafalgar Law. You remember your father reading the newspaper years ago and commenting how a group of kids was making a mess in the new world.
But the reason he caught your eye wasn’t because he was a known pirate but because of how hot he was. He was older than you, you knew that but that didn’t stop you from daydreaming with having him touching you, all over your body. You swallowed hardly, trying to get those thoughts away from your head, you were currently at work, you couldn’t be thinking about a hot pirate in his 40s fucking you senseless on the back office of the library.
“Here you have them sir.” You said pointing at the shelves where the medicine books were at. “If you need anything, please call me.” You gave him a smile and turned around.
“Princess, what’s your name?” Princess. “I would like to call you princess, but I don’t think it would be appropriate.” You looked at him and he was looking at you, with hungry eyes and a smirk on his face.
You told him your name and when he repeated with a smile, you could feel yourself melting in that place. You wanted to hear it more, but you needed to focus on work. You turned around and started walking as fast as you could, making your heels click throughout the library. Arriving at your position, you sat down in the chair and sighed. You picked up the book you had halfway started and continued reading it. You read it for about 5 minutes before hearing the door of the entrance opening.
“What are you doing here? I told you like 20 minutes ago to leave.” You closed the door and looked at the person in the door angrily.
“C’mon babe, I got you your favorite.” He said showing you the flowers.
You huffed and rolled your eyes, those weren't your favorites. “Those aren’t my favorite. Now leave, I told you I didn’t want to talk with you anymore.”
“Let’s try to fix it babe, it was a mistake.” He tried holding your hand but you backed off.
“A mistake? So that’s what it’s called cheating on me not once but several times?” You raised your voice. “Fuck you.”
He shook his head and held you from the wrist. “Let’s talk, it won’t happen again alright?”
“Hey kid.” A deep voice talked from the side. “She told you to leave, so you better start leaving.”
“Who the fuck are you?” He looked at him, thinking he would have any chance against him.
“They know me by the nickname of Surgeon of the Death. You want to know why?” Your ex swallowed and let your wrist go after hearing those words, because of course he knew who he was. “Leave and don’t ever come near her or I will show you why they call me that.”
Your ex almost ran away from the library, he didn’t even look at you or say a single word. You were grateful he appeared in that moment and he helped you with that ugly situation.
“Thank you for that.” You looked at him.
“Your wrist…” He said looking at it. “It’s red, let me check it.”
“Oh! No it’s okay, it’s just…”
He held your wrist and pushed you closer to him. “I’m a doctor, so let me take care of you, alright princess?” There it was, once again that nickname. You looked him in the eyes and simply nodded.
He checked your wrist, touching it in different places to make sure it was okay. He nodded and let your wrist go, telling you that it was okay.
“Again, thank you for what you did.” You smiled at him. “My ex… he is kinda a dick.” You gave him a small smile, trying to make it look as normal as possible.
“I see…” He whispered. “That kid shouldn’t be treating you like that. He was the one talking to you when I came in right?” He said laying his back to the wall next to him.
“Yeah… he wanted to try things out once again because according to him I don’t have any other options in this town and I’m getting and blah blah blah, but I guessed you listened to us…”
“He cheated on you.” You nodded. “An absolute dick to cheat on a girl like you.” You clenched your fists and your thighs when he said that. You felt your heart rate increase, his voice was so deep and his gaze was so intense looking at you.
“I guess all boys are like that.” You played your hands.
“Maybe you need a man and not a kid.” Your breathing hitched when you felt him approach you.
Your gaze was still fixed on your hands, you didn't want to raise it, you didn't want to have to look at him and face what that infamous pirate was causing in you with just his deep voice. But Law didn't care and he grabbed your chin making you look him straight in the eyes. You looked away not wanting to look at him.
“C’mon look at me princess.” He said in a low tone.
You swallowed and you looked at him.
“So pretty.” He smiled.
You took a deep breath and took away your nervousness. “Maybe you’re right… I need a man.”
The sexual tension in the air was palpable. You wanted him and he wanted you, and you were willing to give yourself in. You bit your lower lip and sat up straight in the chair.
“Princess, tell me what you want, I need to hear it.” He said cupping your face with one of his big hands.
Your chest rose and fell, wanting to say those three words. I want you. I want him.
“I… want you…” You whispered.
“How princess?” He said almost touching your lips, you wanted them so badly.
“All over me, touching me… fucking me.”
He cupped your face with both hands and kissed you, capturing your lips. You groaned into his mouth due to the sensation it caused you. His tongue entered your mouth and started to play with yours.
“I wouldn’t mind fucking you on this pretty desk you have here.” He broke the kiss. “But I don’t want any of the villagers of the town to see how I fuck you and how I made a mess out of you.” You tried catching you air and tried to say something. “Or would you like that huh? You want me to fuck you here so when your little ex comes back sees how it’s done?” You moaned when he grabbed you and put you close to him, feeling his strong chest.
“We can go… to the back, no one usually goes around that area and... I can put the closed sign, that way no one would bother us.”
“Guide me princess.” He whispered to your ear.
You went to the door and put the signal of Closed and took his hand to guide him to the isolated part that was in the back of the library. Once inside that place, you felt Law standing behind you, his tall and muscular figure gave off a warmth like no other. You noticed how he hunched over and moved the braid away from your back, leaving your neck exposed. His breath hit your neck, making all your hair stand on end at the sensation. He rested his hand on the shelves and brushed his lips against the back of your neck, you gasped at the warmth of his lips. You turned to face him, you could see how his gaze passed from your eyes to your lips repeatedly. He stopped leaning and cradled your face with his hands, then kissed you with need, wanting to devour you. He growled against your lips, and intensified the kiss, lowering his left hand from your face to your hip, grabbing you tightly and pulling you against him.
You felt your legs trembling at the sensation that that pirate was causing you, you wanted him to start touching you as soon as possible. Your back was completely supported by the bookshelf while Law pressed himself closer to your body. You could feel the bulge in his pants, which made you start to get even wetter. You let out a moan as Law began to kiss your neck. You put your hands on the shelves to avoid falling, your legs were completely shaking and you didn't think you could remain standing if you didn't hold on to something. Law grabbed one of your legs, pulling it up and causing your dress to ride up, exposing your underwear.
“Fuck princess, you’re driving me crazy.” He said against your neck. “I don’t think I will be able to wait any longer without fucking you.”
“Please…” You moaned when you felt his hand going near your sex.
“Yes? Say it.”
“I need your cock. I need you to fuck me.” You said against his lips.
“I will fuck you really good princess.”
His hand went straight to your underwear, taking them down quickly, he began to touch you and play with your clit, you had to hold on to his strong shoulders to not fall and to have him closer to you.
“So fucking wet and just for me princess.” He said not stopping the mess he was doing down there.
You saw how he began to unbutton his pants and how he later pulled down his boxers, exposing his hard dick. You swallowed hard when you saw it, your ex was nowhere near that size, nor that thick.
“Don’t worry princess. I will take really good care of you.” He said to your ear. “I am a doctor after all. I won’t hurt you.”
You told him that it was okay and in one quick movement he grabbed both of your legs and made you wrap your legs around him. You could feel his cock at your entrance, rubbing against you. You wanted to tell him to put it in, you wanted to shout at him, but only moans and gasps escaped your mouth. Little by little he entered you and you felt yourself opening up, the sensation was overwhelming but pleasant. Your eyes rolled back as he entered you fully, staying still as you took a deep breath and your body adjusted to him.
“I’m gonna move okay princess?” He whispered.
“Please…” You said back.
Law began to move his hips, moving in and out of you quickly. The place began to fill with your skin colliding and the moans of both of you mixing.
More. I need more.
“Harder please.” You said.
“Exactly, taking my cock so good.” He kissed your neck. “Fuck princess, you hear that? So fucking wet for me. You look so beautiful princess, with my dick on you.”
You rubbed against him, loving how deep he felt.
“You’re so deep fuck…”
“Yes princess. Did your ex fuck you like this?”
“No… fuck daddy…” You gasped and felt how his dick grew bigger inside of you when you said that word.
“Shit baby, don’t say that or I won’t be able to last long. And you want me to last right? To make you feel fucking good right?”
“Yesyesyes… please daddy.”
Law started to move faster than before, making you go crazy with how good he was making you feel. You could feel your body shake and getting closer each moment to your climax. Law moved you away from the shelves and laid you down on the floor, leaving you behind him. While he was still inside you, he pulled down the straps of your dress exposing your breasts to him. He began to squeeze your breasts and play with your nipples, while he was still grinding against you. You bit your lips trying to silence the moans that came out of you, but you couldn't, Law was making you feel so good, it was inevitable.
You don't know how much time had passed when you heard the front door open. You cursed, you had put up the closed sign, why did they come here? Law didn't seem to care in the least that they might catch you fucking between the shelves, because he kept fucking you like it was his last day. You heard your name being mentioned and then you fell into who he was.
“Fuck… why is he here again?” You whispered.
“Your ex huh?” Law looked at you. “Maybe I should make you moan harder so he knows how good a real man makes you feel.”
You moaned, hard when he touched your clit whole fucking you. You didn’t want your ex to see you in that situation but you didn’t want to stop. Law continued to thrust hard, making you moan, until you both came. Your legs were shaky when he pulled out of you and you didn't notice the moment Law covered you with his cloak and left.
You heard voices come from the entrance, a scream, and then the door open and close. You waited sitting between the shelves, and then you saw him arrive, Law. You bit your lower lip as you remembered what the two of you had done just a few minutes ago.
“What did you do?” You questioned him.
“You will never have to worry about that kid again. He won’t bother you again.” He said extending his hand for you to take it.
You took his hand and stood up, still feeling soak from the sex.
“Thank you…” You thanked him.
“Law.” He said, although you already knew that.
“Law.” You said for the first time and you told him your name and he savored the name like honey.
Who would thought that the pirate you used to see and hear so much about years ago, would have been the one to give you the best fuck of your life.

Part 19 Two Year Time Skip
Reader and Ace are the 1st and 2nd to make it first (Making Zoro’s boast of coming 1st go down the gutter since he’s actually 3rd *That doesn’t mean he won’t still make fun of Sanji since he came way later than him*)
Reader woke up to the sound of all her family members voices and is amazed at seeing her family back together again and that they look different (While they’re shocked that Y/N hasn’t changed a day) though Y/N was more shocked to learn it’s actually been 2 Years! (Y/N also really wants to explore to help find the others who are also on the island, if it’s okay with her family, which they tell her yes)
I 110% believe Sanji compares Reader to a Princess from one of the books he read as a child, as she’s sleeping soundly, waiting for her ‘Prince Charming’ to wake her up with a kiss (Only when he gets to that part he becomes furious about the idea of some ‘Homewreaker’ trying to ‘steal’ his cute little sister’s ‘innocence lips’ *He gets Ace and Zoro in on it, with Robin wondering if they’re sure ‘They’re not the ‘Evil Dragons who kidnapped the Princess?’*)
Ace/Robin have the idea to actually bring her with them to see a CERTAIN Concert that she might love
Reader tells Brook how she felt about his concert (Like that scene with Eri telling Deku about his concert) is Brook and Robin/Ace are ugly crying from how cute Y/N is
You think there’s an ‘Imposter Y/N?’ But they’re a preteen? (They’re wearing a large headband to cover their forehead and has a fake horn) Said preteen is very mean, rude and has horrible manners and loud? (They dyed their hair h/c or are wearing a wig) But the comedic part is when Y/N meets her Imposter and the Fake Straw Hats as the Fakes and Pirates that joined their crew are all screaming in fear that the infamous and REAL ‘Devil Child Y/N’ is right in front of them! (She’s not mad, just confused with what’s going on and doesn’t understand why some people are dressed like her family members and is surprised someone is dressed like her as well as why they’re screaming/backing away from her)
Reader meets up with Luffy and both are so excited seeing each other again!
Reader is so happy seeing her family back together (And excited for Ace is joining them) and can’t wait to go to Fishman Island! (Though Y/N was worried when Sanji kept getting nosebleeds and even confused about why Big Brother Sanji kept getting them)
-You felt so comfortable, like you were where you belonged as you stirred, your eyes slowly opening. Your vision cleared and your eyes widened, seeing that you were in your room on Sunny, in your bed.
-You tried to sit up, feeling a little weak and dizzy before you heard soft snores and you turned, your eyes widening again as you saw Ace there, sleeping quietly next to you.
-Memories of what you last remembered filled your mind, seeing both Ace and Whitebeard dead, then you felt a big rush of power, then Ace hugged you close after you brought him back, then you were here.
-Ace looked… different- he looked older, his hair was a bit longer and he had a couple of new scars, including the big one on his back, ruining his tattoo.
-You managed to sit up after a few moments and you reached out, touching the large scar, feeling bad that his tattoo was ruined but when Ace snorted awake, jerking slightly before quickly sitting up, seeing you there, awake, he quickly beamed, “You’re awake!!”
-He hugged you so tightly, but it also felt so warm, so happy- you could feel the tears welling in your eyes as you hugged him back, smiling, “Big brother!” he exhaled, relaxing as he felt you hugging him back- you were awake, you were okay.
-Ace helped you wash your face and brush your teeth before he explained to you that it had been two years since you last saw everyone else.
-You quickly ran over to the doorframe in the galley, where you and Ace had been eating and you put your back to the doorframe, lifting your hand to the top of your head before you looked, seeing that your height did not change.
-Ace laughed warmly, explaining that you had been in a coma, your aura surrounding you, putting you in suspended animation, and to put it simply, you haven’t grown at all.
-Ace couldn’t help but laugh more as you pouted, as you wanted to be taller too, as Ace was taller and bigger- it wasn’t fair!
-You then looked up, “Is Luffy and the others back yet?” Ace grinned warmly at you, “They will be arriving soon.” You smiled up at him, looking excited to see everyone.
-One by one they all arrived back on the ship, save for Luffy, Sanji, Zoro, and Brook. Franky arrived first and you were in awe, seeing how big he had gotten before he saw you, immediately kneeling, “Y/N!” you ran out, followed by Ace as you leapt into his arms, “Franky!!”
-He hugged you close, and you were in awe that he was like a robot, telling you to press his nose. You were hesitant, doing that he said, and you fell back to your rear as his hair changed, turning into a big afro and you beamed so brightly, “I’m happy you’re back Franky!” he was quickly in tears, a hand covering his mouth on how pure you were.
-You then heard another voice, “Y/N!” you turned, seeing Chopper running towards you and you beamed, running to him, “Chopper!” The two of you met in a hug, squealing in delight as you both went to the ground.
-A shadow cast down on you as you looked up, seeing Usopp, looking older as well, “I hope I get a hug like that too!” you leapt up, “Usopp!” he hugged you close, spinning you around before Nami spoke up, “When’s my turn?”
-You turned to Nami, before pausing, seeing her just in a bikini top, it made you curious if she went swimming before you ran to her, “Nami!!” she hugged you close and you felt her sag into the embrace, like she was relieved.
-When she pulled back, she cupped your cheek softly, whispering down at you, “I’m so happy you’re okay.” They had all heard about the war, and she had managed to get ahold of Ace, finding out about you afterwards, about the coma, and she had spent most of her time worrying.
-You then heard someone giggling, “Hello everyone~” you turned, your eyes wide, seeing Robin there, she was so much taller and looked so mature now.
-You were frozen, unable to move before you hiccupped softly, tears easily welling in your eyes as the others all smiled, watching this as you finally broke down, “Mama!!”
-Robin kneeled and embraced you tightly, hugging you close, “I’m home Y/N.” you were sniffling, trying to stop your tears- you were just so happy to have them all back.
-After waiting for a while, Usopp gave Ace a lead on where Brook would be, at a concert and Ace offered to go and get him, after he told them that he was joining the crew, something that caused a lot of cheers.
-You asked to go with him, and Ace quickly became the newest victim to your puppy eyes, something you didn’t know that you were doing and Robin, who thought it was amusing to see him fall so easily, offered to go with him as well.
-The concert was so loud, there were bright lights and colored lights and effects everywhere, there were so many people cheering- it was almost overwhelming, holding your hands over your ears as Robin held you in her arms.
-Brook was performing and you were in awe, he looked like a rockstar now! He looked so cool!
-As he was finishing his last song, he saw Ace, then Robin, then in her arms, he saw you, your arms up, cheering loudly for him with a huge smile on your face.
-Ace almost collapsed to the ground, clutching at his chest while Robin was smiling warmly, a tear pricking the corner of her eyes, seeing you looking so happy.
-Brook was able to get away from his captors as the crowd cheered loudly and Ace and Robin ran out to meet up with him once they were a safe distance away.
-Ace was holding his guitar after you leapt into Brook’s arms, hugging him close and he carried you while you were talking so fast on how cool his concert was, “And everyone got so loud, and the colors and lights were so pretty and sparkly and you looked so cool!”
-Brook felt tears welling in his eye sockets before he held you close, lowering his head to yours, his teeth pressing against his forehead, like he was giving you a kiss, “I’m happy to see you again too, Y/N.”
-A terrified scream then filled the air and you all turned, seeing a group of people that were dressed like your family, but it wasn’t them, there was even an older kid dressed like you, with a horn glued to their forehead.
-You tilted your head to the side, confused as to why they were so scared and why they looked so injured before they ran off, “It’s Demon Child Y/N!!”
-Question marks surrounded your head, turning back to Ace, Brook, and Robin who were quickly grinning, thinking it was hysterical that these imposters were so terrified of you.
-When you arrived back on the ship, Robin helped you change into a present that Ace had forgotten about, something from Whitebeard, and you came out, wearing what looked to be a sailor dress over your black leggings, with a red bow on the front, but on the back was the symbol of Whitebeard, signaling that you were under his protection.
-You spun around, a huge smile on your face, “I love it!”
-A crash was heard, and you turned, seeing Sanji there, tears pouring down his face, a light from heaven shining down on him, “A- an angel!!” you ran over, immediately leaping into his arms, knocking him out of his shock, “Big brother!” He hugged you close, smiling that he finally had you back in his arms.
-You then heard a chuckle, and you looked up, seeing Zoro there and Sanji lamented, falling to his hands and knees that you left him as you ran to Zoro who kneeled, hugging you close as you leapt into his arms.
-Zoro grinned, ruffling your hair before he spoke, reaching into his pocket, “I have something for you- Mihawk wanted me to give it to you.” You were confused, head tilting to the side, “Mihawk?” he nodded and Nami told you who that was before you remembered.
-You were a little apprehensive, as he did hurt Zoro, but you were surprised when Zoro handed you the cross necklace, with a hidden blade inside of it, “He wants you to be safe.”
-He put it over your neck, and you smiled, holding it in your hands, “I love it! Can I send him a letter thanking him for it?” he chuckled, ruffling your hair, “Sure- I’ll go get some paper.”
-You looked around, wondering where Luffy was, as he was the only one yet to arrive before you heard, “Y/N!!” you turned, seeing Luffy carrying a huge bag full of food and your eyes went wide, seeing him there, smiling so brightly at you.
-He leapt on the ship and let the bag go, letting it hit the deck before he immediately had you in his arms and you hugged him, “Luffy!! I missed you so much!!” he laughed warmly, feeling complete again, now that he was back to you, “And I missed you Y/N!”
-Ace took a couple of photos, of your dress and of your new baby sword, as you were calling it a baby sword because it fit your size, “And when I get bigger I’ll get a big girl sword!” oh gawd you were going to kill all of them.
-Sanji was hugging you close, “You’re just like a precious little princess Y/N!” you smiled up at him, as you remembered the stories you had been told, “Really? Does that mean that all my big brothers are my Prince Charmings, or do I have to kiss someone else?”
-Robin couldn’t help but hold a hand to her lips, hiding her smile while Nami shook her head, exasperated as Luffy, Ace, Sanji, and Zoro all were quickly surrounded by flames of fury as Ace spoke, “Nobody is going to steal her precious lips!”
-The others were quickly cheering, agreeing to protect you and keep all other men that didn’t trust away from you.
-You couldn’t help but smile brightly, you were so happy to have your family finally back.
-Zoro was holding you as you gave the delivery bird the two letters, one to Mihawk and the other to Whitebeard, thanking the bird who cooed before flying off.
-When Luffy announced that you were all heading to Fishman Island now, after Franky inflated the bubble coating, you cheered, looking forward to a new adventure, but you were also confused as to why Sanji was bleeding from his nose again.
~Hundreds of miles away a few days later~
-Whitebeard smiled, seeing the letter you had sent to him, seeing the photos of you in the dress and seeing the letter you wrote to him, or tried to write to him, ‘Thank you Grandpa! I love my new dress! I want to see you soon!’
-He was almost immediately planning to set sail, wanting to make you happy.
-He then looked at your new bounty poster, a new picture of you in the dress he had given you, with Luffy’s hat on your head, and Mihawk’s cross around your neck- giving everyone the message you were heavily protected now.
-Whitebeard also couldn’t keep the smile from his lips, seeing that your bounty went up again, now that you had resurfaced, seeing 6,000,000,000 beris staring back at him- you made grandpa so proud!!
~Hundreds of miles away in the other direction~
-A rumbling was heard on Mihawk’s island, a smile coming to his lips as Perona was confused, “Are you expecting someone?” he didn’t say anything.
-The door burst open, revealing a comically crying Shanks who was holding your bounty poster, “You bastard!! I want to give her something too!!”
-Mihawk couldn’t help but roar with laughter, seeing Shanks so upset because you were wearing his cross necklace.
-Mihawk, just to be a little extra cruel, pointed at something framed on the wall, “That’s from Y/N.”
-Shanks immediately ran over, seeing a crayon drawing of you and Mihawk, each holding your baby swords and holding hands, ‘Thank you for my baby sword Mr. Mihawk! Now we match!’
-Shanks collapsed to the ground, gloom surrounding him, seeing the connection you had with him before he shot back up, “Wait! You don’t match- you gave her your one sword like that!”
-Mihawk stood, turning towards Shanks, showing off another cross necklace, “When she was so happy that we matched, I had to get another one.”
-Shanks deflated, turning pure white in defeat as he sobbed comically on Mihawk’s chase lounge chair, wanting to get you a present too!!

My Spirit Tracks designs inspired by LinkedUniverse :)
And facts under the cut!
Tumblr media
I made these for the weekly prompt on the server! I'm still unsure about their nicknames, I liked calling Zelda "Spirit" and Link "Tracks", but later I started calling her "Angel" and Link either "Tracks" or "Engie". Help XD
LEFT: Zelda's design before the adventure. She's the great-great-granddaughter of Tetra and Wind, and they're both black and have curly hair in my designs, with Tetra's skin being a little darker than Wind's. Angel's skin is lighter than Wind's due to having a couple white ancestors between her great-great-grandparents and her. She took her eye color and freckles from Tetra and her nose from Wind!
CENTER: Zelda's design after the adventure. When she got separated from her body, her spirit was pale and light, hwr hair got wavy and floating, and her body lost color due to being "lifeless". When Malladus possessed her, her eyes changed from dark blue to yellow. When Zelda got back into her body, it didn’t regain its original color, much to her desperation. However, she enjoyed helping Link and got an outfit she really loves.
RIGHT: Link! He's the great-great-grandson of Niko and Aryll, who dated Niko as an adult. He's tanned but his ancestors between Aryll and him are mostly white. His design is mostly taken from his engineer clothes, but with the green tshirt and belt from his hero clothes. I originally wanted to roll his sleeves up but noticed how in LU everyone has long sleeves! His eyes are brown, and his personality is pretty much like Aryll's.
Facts!
- Of course they have the same great-great-great-grandparents. This, however, makes them too distant relatives to be considered family.
- Aryll joined the crew a few years after WW. She enjoyed being on the ship and when she turned 12 she decided to join her brother, and later, as an adult, she dated Niko (I headcanon Niko to be at most as old as Wind, but maybe a couple of years younger).
- Zelda's ancestors are all travelers and adventurers. Her parents, in particular, are alive and well but on a journey across the seas to visit the old islands and ancient Hyrule. Link’s parents have done pretty much the same, but Link chose to live with Niko and be a train engineer rather than sailing.
- Zelda hates her new look. She can't stand it at all, and while some makeup helps, she doesn't feel good. She hopes to regain her original appearance some day, mostly her colors, but both colors and hair type would be the best. Link always tells her she's beautiful no matter what, and he's totally sincere. He fell in love with her when she was a spirit, so looks really don't matter, but he too hopes she'll het her original appearance back as he wants to see her truly happy.
- When Zelda got back to her body, she didn't notice she was still that pale. There were so many other things to do, consider, think of. Moreover, she had her glooves on. After defeating Malladus she and Link went back to the castle where they quickly fell asleep due to exhaustion. After some hours, Link woke up to Zelda screaming in terror from her room. He went upstairs and noticed her in tears, staring at a mirror. She saw herself as a monster. Link tried to help, to tell her she's beautiful anyway, and then distracting her talking about adventures and history. This helped her, other than make her order some new clothes based on her adventure.
- In my headcanon Tetra didn't become a white and elegant princess when the king told her she was Zelda. She didn't even get a dress. She just got the information, and was left thinking about her ancestors. All the events of WW happened with the exception of Tetra still being Tetra, dark skin and pirate clothes.
- Yes Zelda's body will slowly recover and she'll eventually regain her original colors! Happy ending :)

Monster trio's favorite kinks
Warning: Obviously NSFW,kinks,food
Kinks in order(feel free to leave if any of them make you uncomfortable):roleplay, bondage/shibari,feederism
Characters in order:Luffy,Zoro,Sanji
Tumblr media
Luffy.
•He enjoys roleplaying of any type usually
•His favorite plots "Luffy x food","Pirate x treasure", "Knight x Princess"
Tumblr media
"Babyyyy" You hear Luffy calling for you. You make your way into his room, noticing the other boys are missing. They probably went out to explore the new island. How come Luffy didn't go with them? You know your boyfriend well enough already. He loves adventure.
"What is roleplay?"He asks impatient. You give him a strange look, wondering what made him ask this question.
"Roleplay is something two or more people do. Basically they pretend to be someone else." You give him a simple and short reply. Luffy isn't the man to stay and listen to a full explanation. His attention span is too short.
You immediately notice your boyfriend's eyes sparkling, meaning he got a crazy idea."So it's like playing???"
"Yeah?" You are unsure how to react. Usually,a crazy idea means something bad. That's just how Luffy does things. Yet,what can go wrong with such an innocent thing like roleplay? Oh boy,you were so wrong.
He grabs your waist, pulling you dangerously close. You can feel his warm breath on your right cheek."Sooo...What if I roleplay as myself and you as my delicious meal?" He's lips curve into a smirk the moment he finishes the question. You can't help but blush. Luffy has amazing pick up lines if he puts enough effort. You sure did not expect this right now. "C'mon, baby. Let me eat you." He speaks once again. He brutally slams his lips against yours. His teeth pierce your lower lip, letting him feel the metallic taste of your blood.
You feel his hands pushing you in his bed. He begins slowly kissing your neck, leaving every spot wet and warm. His hands are tracing your curves, exploring them all. With one move,he takes off your shirt, then your bra. His kisses go down to your collarbone, then to your breasts. He licks one of your nipples. A sound expressing his satisfaction, escapes his lips."You're so damn delicious" His lips are now placed on your nipple, slowly sucking it like a newborn.
You start moaning as the pleasure takes over your body. Your eyes widen surprised by his new methods. So that's what he meant when he said he will taste me. The moaning becomes louder as he begins biting your nipple and chewing it just like his snack. "Not even Sanji can cook such an appetizing dish like you."
Zoro
•He enjoys bondage
•If he is really turned on,he'll just tie you up normally,if he isn't,he'll use shibari
•He is a master when it comes to shibari
Tumblr media
Zoro watches you move your body on the beat. You have a big smile on your face as you move your hips in a way Zoro finds provocative.
Luffy is throwing a massive party, again. You couldn't pass the opportunity to have some fun, after such a hard fight you've had. Now that it's over,it's important to relax and have some fun.
Zoro finds himself staring at your body. He didn't know you were such a good dancer. He gets up, grabbing your hips and pulling your back against his chest. You quickly realize it's your boyfriend.
"You got some moves." He compliments you. Your cheeks quickly change to red.
"How about I'll show you my moves?" His lips are touching your ear. His whisper sends shivers down your spine.
Before you reply,Zoro grabs your hand, taking you away from the party. "Where are we going?" You ask him. You were having so much fun. You wanted to dance more.
"Hurry up" He simply replies, making you have more questions. Nearby is a motel so you assume he will take you there. Zoro enters the motel, quickly paying for the room. He is in a hurry. What has gotten into him so suddenly? The moment you enter the room you feel him pushing you against a wall. His lips are locked with yours.
You feel his erection and you immediately realize why he was so impatient. Your clothes don't resist much.
His hands are roaming around your body, exploring it. As his hands move, you start feeling something tight against your skin. You realize he is tying you up,but you decide to not say anything about it. I mean, can you really complain in this situation?
He pulls away from the kiss, checking you up and down. "Damn, girl. You look even sexier tied up." He smirks enjoying the view of your boobs spilling through the rope.
He moves two fingers around your pussy, teasing you. "So helpless that you can't even move. That's just how I like you"
Sanji
•Loves to bring you sweet treats
•You're always the first one to taste every meal
•Extra portions + extra snacks
Tumblr media
"Happy birthday, princess!" He wishes you with a cake in his hands. The cake is filled with caramel and chocolate, gently decorated with sprinkles and some candies.
You smile, feeling loved. He remembered. Your heart is beating really fast right now. "Thank you..."
Sanji puts down the cake on a table, then closes the door to your room. He sits down on your bed. "You deserve the best,my love. Let me spoil you." Before you could reply,he takes down your trousers and panties.
His tongue is moving close to your entrance, making you get all wet. He smirks at the sight of you getting so turned on. His tongue is slowly entering your private area. You feel him eating you up like the sweetest dessert. His tongue is moving in perfect harmony, hitting just the right spots. Your moans are getting louder and louder. That motivates him to bring you to full climax. A wave of pleasure crashes over you, he takes it as a cue to increase the pressure. His tongue is getting deeper into your thigh hole.
"I-I am about to cum!" You manage to say, between the moans. As your orgasm hits, Sanji's tongue becomes even more vigorous, lapping up every drop of your cum as soon as you release it. He licks his lips in satisfaction getting up from the bed.
He grabs the cake and a fork. "Now open up. This is all for you. I made it will sooo much love!" You open your mouth,as the fork enters your mouth. The more you eat,the more you see his erection getting even more pronounced. You know he won't leave your room until you finish everything, it's also more likely that soon, you'll be the one eating him up.

It's A Work in Progress.
Tumblr media
Context: This takes place after a few months of Law setting sail for the first time with Shachi, Bepo, and Penguin. They are a new pirate crew finding their way to the Grand Line. Desperate for funds, Law’s crew resort to kidnapping.
Info: fem/readerxLaw, kidnapping, 1st time meeting, slow-burn romance, multiple parts, cursing, mild threats of violence.

Chapter 1. The Kidnapping
Tumblr media
Law paced his office as he waited for his crew to get back. Those fools! What are they thinking? Law fumed as he thought of the dressing down he would give to Shachi, Penguin, and Bepo.
The ship needed repairs from their recent escape from the Marines. Bepo had safely navigated the crew to an island where Shachi and Penguin could repair the ship.
The problem was that the parts needed to repair the ship took much of their savings and left the crew scheming for ways to make money fast. Someone mentioned kidnapping as a joke, which Law did not find amusing.
He thought he had made it clear that kidnapping and ransoming was a stupid way to get funds and the perfect way to get caught.
I am going to kill them after I torture them!
Law thought violently in his head as he paced his office. He couldn't leave the ship because he didn't fully trust the two newest members of his crew just yet. They had only been sailing with him for a month and a half.
The only thing the trio thought about was not to stage a kidnapping till they had successfully made most of the repairs on the ship and were in a different location. Still, it wouldn't be enough to keep their heads from rolling!
"Five more minutes." He muttered to himself. Law would give the trio five more minutes, and if they weren't back yet...
"Captain! Hey, Captain!"
Law took a deep breath as he heard both Penguin and Shachi's voices calling for him in unison. He didn't bother replying as he sat on his desk with his arms crossed. The pair entered the room with wide grins on their faces. They were so wrapped up in their success that they didn't notice the glare on Law's face.
"We did it! We actually pulled it off, and it was easier than we thought it would be!" Shachi said with pride.
"Yeah! I thought kidnapping a nobleman's daughter would be hard, but kidnapping a princess-"
"What."
Law didn't need to yell or raise his voice. As much as he despised Don Flamingo, he had learned habits from him that he found useful. One of them being tone of voice. Law didn't need to yell or raise his voice because that "what" was enough to show his displeasure.
Shachi and Penguin froze instantly and then noticed the glare Law was giving them. Law stared at them as they sweated and rethought their "great idea".
"Please tell me that you two did not just kidnap a princess just three days after we managed to escape the Marines and made repairs to the ship."
Shachi and Penguin both paled as they stayed quiet. Law sighed and thought quickly about how to make the situation work. If they already have the spoiled brat, then maybe they could try demanding money, or they could just dump her somewhere for her father to retrieve her.
"Where is she?" Law asked as he dropped the glare.
Shachi and Penguin instantly unfroze and realize that Bepo had not yet entered the room. Penguin ran to poke his head out the door and waved from Bepo to come in. Law sighed and rubbed his forehead. Obviously, they had planned to make a show of kidnapping a princess.
Penguin moved aside as Bepo hurried in with a woman kicking and making muffled screaming. If there was another reason why Law disliked kidnappings it would be the noise and dramatics of the victims. He watched patiently as Bepo set the woman on her feet and turned her to face him.
She was certainly dressed like a noblewoman, but something in her eyes and demeanor told him that he wasn't dealing with royalty. Okay, I might be able to work with this, Law thought to himself.
“Look, we're both not in an ideal situation here so I am giving you a chance to behave and cooperate with me. If you do, you might see your family again.”
The woman glared at him and internally Law rolled his eyes.
“Our polar bear will ungag you so you can answer my questions. If you scream, I will have you held underwater till you pass out. Don't test me on this.” Law’s eyes hardened as he said his threat.
Penguin and Shachi looked at each other uncomfortably but didn't say a word. The woman held her glare but seemed to understand the threat given to her. Law nodded to Bepo and the woman didn't scream (to Law’s relief) but she did express herself in a colorful way.
“You mother fuckers messed with the wrong noble family.” She said in a calm and eloquent voice.
Law’s skepticism seems to be correct. Most definitely not a princess.

Chapter 4: Columba
A philosopher once asked, "Are we human because we gaze at the stars, or do we gaze at them because we are human?" Pointless, really..."Do the stars gaze back?" Now, that's a question. ― Neil Gaiman, Stardust
‘We’re… lost?’ You stared blankly ahead.
‘I’ll admit, lost is a strong word, princess— Misdirected feels more accurate. Sailing off-course.’
You stammered for a response to the confession you just heard. ‘How– How could we be off-course?’ The captain’s words had not fully come through to you yet, perhaps by his casual stance and lack of urgency for a solution or panic. He stood there, arms behind his back, studying his map like one of the painting hanging on the Queen’s wall. And yet, according to this man, you were heading into uncharted waters. You have been heading towards them for God knows how long.
‘It is quite simple. Here–’ he was still analysing the markings on the wall as he spoke, and he must have wanted you to step closer, for he looked at you expectedly. Something around his mouth twitched when he looked your way. The eye contact was piercing both ways with so much said between the two of you, and yet not a single word had been exchanged. With two ringed fingers, he pulled an invisible string that he hoped would have some effect on you.
It did not.
All you did was raise a brow in your expectation, ready to see what the captain would do now. Arms crossed, you remained in your place.
‘Do not make me come over there, princess.’
‘Do not make me come over there, Munson.’ The words were bitter but tasted sweet, like honey on your lips. If you had blinked, and as luck would have it, you did not, you would have missed the captain’s reaction; a deep breath in as he hollowed out his cheeks, pushing back any clearer indications of frustrations or signs of weaknesses. The patience ran out of his dark eyes. Then, with a stretch of his neck, he returned to his first problem as if the short interaction between you had never occurred. He sounded entirely unphased as he, despite your distance, went to explain the conundrum. ‘Several days ago, the Hellfire stumbled upon a certain ship,’ he tapped one of his fingers on a small mark south of the map. It then dawned on you that, by surrendering to your stubbornness, he had won the bigger battle. Your curiosity was gaining on you, and from where you stood, you could not put much more meaning to his words, as the islands around it were unfamiliar. He knew this and could tell you were frustrated with yourself, but you were too stubborn to walk up and look at what he was showing you… yet where you stood now was no good either. The captain continued explaining as if you were right by his side, not addressing anything else of the situation. ‘Tonight, we were meant to have only been a week’s travel away from our destination–’ your home. This shocked you, for before, you had no indication of how much longer it would take—a week. What was supposed to have been a week is now an undetermined eternity as the ship sailed on.
The mention of your home hit you at the deepest level, overshadowing any other emotions you felt. Any stubbornness was pushed aside for anger as you crossed the room.
Nothing was exchanged as you moved past the desk towards the captain. He did not look your way, but the grin on his face was undeniable. You could still feel it when he brought you closer to him with a quick pull, shaking you around practically like a rag-doll. You now stood between him and the map, his shoulder against your back. His breath on your neck. His muscles brushed over you as he moved his arm to point out the locations on the map. The flash of heat coming over you could not have been anything but the anger you felt at yourself for letting this happen.
‘To sum up, we met here, darling,’ he reached to tap the map again at a southern point, bringing himself closer to you with the excuse to reach the chart. His chin practically leaned on your shoulder, and his hot breath became overbearing to all your senses. All you could focus on were the rings that adorned his fingers in front of you—one of the few aspects of him you could always trust to remain constant. You watched him move his hand across. ‘—were meant to arrive here—,’ One straight line towards home with a dark, blotted circle on top of it. It made you wonder how long that ink sat upon the canvas. Had he written it once you came aboard, or had he been planning something much longer? Had your abduction been a plan all along? It was hard to imagine but not impossible.
‘And now we’re… well, God knows where we are,’ he chuckled with wicked amusement, and you did not see the humour in being lost at sea. You did, however, see the irony of him speaking of God. He, a Satan’s spawn himself. It is ridiculous to think that he had the gumption to speak the Lord’s name so casually, especially with him being who he is. It simply did not sit right with you.
However, none of your concerns seemed to have drawn his attention as Munson went on: ‘I felt something was wrong as we were supposed to have arrived at Escondrijo last night, a rest stop we often sail past,’ he read out the name of this island right at your skin, the S slithering from his tongue onto you in shivers. ‘I thought maybe my calculations were simply off; the wind, after all, had not been the kindest. Of course, it could have been a delay– but alas.’ He clicked his tongue. ‘What we stumbled across was–’ He slammed his fist into the map, making you jump at the extreme action,  ‘Such a useless piece of land no one bothered to give it a name!’ He laughed away his frustrations, which chilled you to the bone. ‘Not even the damned sould that live there.’
Damned. That’s what he was. What all of you were as the ship sailed on.
You tried to take in everything that he had just told you. All the locations he had pointed to. Considering the unknown status of your location, the world must have turned upside down for you to arrive here. The fact the Hellfire had stumbled upon the nameless island must have been dumb chance in itself, and just as quickly as it had made itself shown, it was now becoming nothing more than a memory.
Still, this island could be anywhere on the map, but it must have been close to the planned destination. The climate would have raised suspicions much earlier if it had been otherwise. And that is precisely what you suggested to the captain, hoping that giving him some kind of positive idea would direct him away from the anger he must be feeling. Not to mention, at this moment, you were both in trouble, in danger, and the only way out of it was to help him… as much as you disliked the idea of doing so. It was the only option.
‘Yes, exactly. All my calculations had been perfect. That is why this is all so perplexing.’
You could name several more reasons why the situation was “perplexing”, including one thing you did not yet understand:
‘Why did we even leave the harbour? Why not stay and orient yourself?’ There were people there, other sailors; naturally, someone could have helped track the right direction to sail onward to. Someone there might have had more information. Anything.
And yet, the ship had already set sail into the abyss of the night. You could hear the waves sloshing around you, and when you turned around, the fiery light coming from the island was thinning on the horizon.
‘You overestimate the usefulness of a drunken man. Or the charitability of a passerby in a midnight alley.’ Munson spoke, ‘Or perhaps, you simply underestimate my willingness to find a solution, for that matter. As if I did not try to ask for help—because, whatever you may think of me, I am not ashamed of seeking out outside recourses—’ There was that clicking sound of his tongue that announced nothing but smugness. Next thing you know, his arms had snaked their way down, wrapped around your middle, trapping your arms within his hold. His lips were at your ear, freezing you like a spell. ‘And here I thought you would know me better by now.’
You wished you did too, but the truth was much more brutal. With every moment you spent in the captain’s presence, he only seemed to be becoming more and more of a mystery to you. None of your million questions regarding the notorious Captain Munson had been answered.
With a slow intake of breath, you spoke to him as calmly as possible: ‘Get off of me.’
‘Mmm,’ he hummed, swaying you back and forth, enhancing the ship's movements, ‘I don’t think I want to, princess.’ In reality, it was a loose grip that held no power, authority, or fear over you. All it did was plague you with his touch, scent, and sound; it was all over. You could feel him everywhere. The heat of his body was radiating onto you, boiling you alive.
From this position, you could not see his face. Your peripheral vision only gave you a blurry profile of his features without indicating what he was doing. You both stood there for a long moment, looking at the map as if it would reveal some secret message. Something to magically guide you back on the right path. It was quiet around, with nothing else but the waves outside, the fire of the candles in the room flickering, and two pairs of lungs breathing. Two hearts, beating fast.
His grip loosened, but you did not move. Too scared that any movement would remind him of you. Although, maybe he had not forgotten but simply lost interest, for the captain took a step forward, passing you right by. His eyes were locked in on a spot on the map.
This silence had given you one thing, and it was the time to think. Maybe not clearly—that was barely ever possible with him around—but long enough to devise a train of thought. With that, one more question struck you.
‘Why tell me all of this?’ Was he confessing this all to you because he was not planning on having you stick around for much longer? Airing out a confession to a soul that he had already sentenced, either way, leaving no trace of his mishappening behind? If that was the case, you had to leave this room quickly. Tell someone about all of this…Because what stopped you from going out there and telling everyone that their captain had failed them? Led them to be stranded at sea. This may be what you need. This may get them on your side. Maybe–
‘Oh, it is wonderful how your mind works, princess.’ He turned around on his heels, and his hands found your shoulders, dug in like claws, shaking you lightly. Shaking you straight out of your escapist fantasy. ‘Truly, fascinating.’ The two last words burned with a growl. He chuckled a little bit more before redirecting himself towards his desk. The captain did not bother walking around the desk. Instead, he sat down on it and let his legs swing around, knocking several stacks of parchment onto the floor in the process. He did not even look down at the mess he caused. Instead, he slightly bent back to look down. His eyes shot down, an eyebrow was raised, and then he looked back at you.
‘Nosy, were we, darling?’ There was a metal twinkle that piqued your interest, and you noticed the silver key hanging around his neck. He pulled it off and unlocked the drawer you had been toying with before his arrival.
Had it surprised you that he pulled out a bottle of rum?
Slightly.
But you watched the captain uncork the bottle and take a large sip as he sat on the armrest of his throne. He was sloppy, and the liquid spilt down his chin. He was wiping it off as he extended his other arm towards you, inviting you for a drink. When you did not respond, the captain shrugged, mumbled something about stubbornness, and drank until barely anything was left. He put the bottle on the disorganised desk and roughly wiped his mouth with his sleeve.
He let out a satisfied sigh. ‘Mmm. Now, where was I,’ he tapped his fingers on his thigh, trying to remember the last seconds. Once he did so, he laughed.
‘It is so easy to think that one tiny mistake could cause a man’s respect, but these men—together with me, may I add—have been through a lot. We are a family, sweetheart, and family isn’t so easy to get rid of. No matter how hard or often you try.’ His dark eyes pierced through yours. ‘So, I hope you do not set your hopes on a mutiny too high because that just won’t happen. If my men wanted to get rid of me, they would have done so long ago.
‘I’ve made much bigger mistakes that could have cost me my head, yet…’ he knocked his knuckles on the side of his skull, giving you an almost apologetic expression, indicating that he was still present and accounted for. ‘I’m sure they’re all aware of our little problem by now. Hell, it’s their fault, but I don’t want to vex them with this. They have enough work on their plates.’
‘So?’ You did not see the point of this anymore, not believing that he had no one in his crew that could help him right now. That would have been more helpful than you.
‘So,’ he mocked your inquisitive tone. ‘Out of everyone on board, you’re probably the last that needs a good night sleep–or at least can miss one.’
You wanted to argue with him, call him a monster for depriving you of simple decency such as a night’s rest, but then it dawned on you that he might have actually been right. While the floor gave you no comfort, you had, in a way, the luxury of sleeping as long as, and whenever, you pleased. Meanwhile, the crew got barely any sleep and then had to work most of the day to keep the ship afloat. That was a rationalisation of yet another lost battle, at least.
‘Even if I did want to help you,’ you sighed in defeat, ‘how could I?’ You didn’t know how to steer a ship, let alone guide one back onto a correct route in the middle of the deep waters at night. Munson looked at you, still very much amused, and clearly held back his tongue with a comment on your words. Instead, he answered your question genuinely. Possibly doing so for the first time.
‘It is the middle of the night; the sky is clear,’ he spoke as if this all led to the most obvious of conclusions, ‘why not let the stars guide you?’
‘What makes you think I know how to?’ Did he think you had any experience in this field? ‘Well, I doubt you keep looking up there just because the stars shine oh-so charmingly.’
‘You do not think the night sky to be beautiful?’ You asked curiously. It would explain so much about the captain if he could not appreciate the simple beauty of such things. But, the man threw you in for a loop.
‘I do, but I also know it has many more functions than decor. You must know it too.’
‘I do.’ That was basic enough knowledge that you had picked up on as a young child, but was that it? Just because you were fascinated by the heavens did not mean you had any expert knowledge on the subject. Besides, where would you have even been able to acquire it? ‘And this makes you think I can steer us back on the right path?’
‘Call it intuition.’
‘And on the principles of your intuition,  you dare to put your fate in the hands of a…prisoner?’ You had never heard of such a tale for a captain to let his prisoner take the lead on the ship. Giving him their trust.
‘I think we are past such formalities, are we not?’ Were you? He must have read the doubt on your face, for he took the task of explaining: ‘You are no longer locked away; you have the freedom to go anywhere on this ship. I brought you a delicious meal—which I would still like to have received some gratitude for, but that is beside the point—and now I am asking you for your help. Some would say you are going up the ranks quite swiftly, princess.’
‘Funny, I do not recall you asking for my help at all? Just being locked away in a room for hours and given no choice but to do as you say.’
‘The pirate life!’ Munson spread his arms wide, slipping down into the seat of his thrown. You thought it would be futile to argue with him, seeing what humour he was in. The way he had just devoured the bottle of rum would not be helping your case.
‘Why me then? Why not do it yourself since you seem to know as much as me about the stars?’ You thought it would be easier and faster if he had done the work independently. It would already cost less time not to go through this discussion.
Like a thunderbolt, anger struck his face. ‘Because, I say so,’ he snarled before returning to his previous self, ‘and I thought you might like having something to occupy yourself with. Pushing around crates must become boring after sometime, does it not?’
‘How do you–’ He had seen what you had done with the lower deck. But… when would he have had the chance? You could not recall many instances, if any, of the captain coming down to see you after he freed you from your cell.
He pushed himself up from the throne and walked back over to you. Then, he began walking in circles around you, and you tried to keep up with him, but it quickly strained your neck. ‘Yes, I know all about your organizing down there. And about your inquiring nature.’ He nodded over to the desk you had tried to pry open. Something must have given it away. He clicked his tongue.  ‘Remember whose ship you’re on, darling. There is nothing that goes by around here without me knowing about it. If you do something, it’s because I let you do it.’
‘I hardly believe that.’
‘Well, believe this then: on any other ship, you could have gotten into a lot of trouble if someone caught you going through another man’s things—’
‘Don’t try and tell me all of that is yours. I know you stole it off other ships.’ You rolled your eyes. Munson played a victim, placing a hand over his chest, pausing in front of you with his big eyes, imitating hurt.
‘Some of it very well may be. This,’ he flicked the collar of the shirt you were wearing, ‘for sure is.’ His fingers grazed at your skin, brushing over your throat hastily. ‘I could have you hung, you know. Or at least take off a few fingers.’
‘I doubt it considering you need me in one piece if you want my father’s money.’
‘Did you know there are hundreds of other man out there who’d pay double for a pretty face like yours?’ He waited for a crack to reveal the fear on your face and didn’t say anything until it showed. ‘Not to mention, I would not be risking arrest with them. Luckily, I am a man of my word. So, to your daddy you shall return.’ He reached for your shirt collar again, flattening it out carefully with a smile that could make you forget any of the horrific things he had just spoken of. ‘As I was saying, darling… I have a feeling you’d rather not end up like the other dirty thieves, so be a doll and prove to me that there was a use in letting you out of your cell after all.’
There it was. The reason for all of this. This was your punishment. Or some kind of redemption. He caught you going through his belonging, and now you had to pay for it— and pay with performing something you already felt to be impossible.
With him standing in front of you, hand still on your shoulder, you looked him directly in the eye. ‘How long do I have?’
The captain puckered his lips in thought and looked out the window. ‘As long as you can make use of the stars. Then I would really like to get back on course.’
Until sunrise, however long that could be.  You had a few hours to find your current location and a path back to where you were headed.
‘What if I can’t do it?’ you pushed the question out of your tightening throat, scared of what the answer might be.
‘That is no mindset for you, princess.’ He brushed some hair out of your face. ‘You’re too smart for that. Now go on; no need to waste even more time.’ And with that, he set you on your way. Or, more accurately, he let go of you and made his way to the bed on the opposite side of the room. In the meantime, you felt like your feet were nailed to the ground, unsure of what to do next, scared of taking the wrong steps. All you could do was look around as if the answers were hidden in the cabin. It had not even been a minute, and you could feel your heart getting stuck in your throat, panic setting in. To give up had never been a feasible option for you before, and it still pained you to think of doing it, but the words were ready to leave your mouth. You win. Your lips parted, and your vocal cords croaked when you noticed something.
The letters were partly worn from contact but still reflected in the light. Either way, it wasn’t so much the letters that spoke to you, as you could not clearly read it from a distance, but the symbol above it. A golden star set on top of a leather book spine, winking at you in the fire.
Now with much more confidence, you took the needed strides towards the bookcase. It was pitch black leather, wrapped in a string to keep the delicate pages together. The book was situated on a lower shelf, pressed between other volumes, making it hard to remove.
‘Need help with that, princess?’ Munson sounded from behind you.
Instead of responding, you pulled at the book again, and this time, it fell out from the shelf with a stir as a pile of books near it moved about. Still giving no reaction to the words spoken, you got up and moved to the desk, unwrapping the tie from around the covers and letting it fall open in front of you. The pages were nearly pristine, the ink dark, as if it had never seen the light of day. This ink depicted excellent illustrations of creatures and men.
Despite being ignored by you, for once, the captain kept his distance and let you work while you searched for the correct pages. You could tell from notes that this was definitely the book you needed, as it told you everything you had to know, but the writing was small and not always legible. The pages were thin but rough to the touch. The writing was small, fitting as much information as the writer could cram between the covers. Most of it felt familiar, bringing you back to tales you had heard from your father or the governess. But navigating oneself with the stars' help required much knowledge and skill you still needed to possess.
You tried to focus on it as much as you could, and yet, despite the silence and the space between you, you couldn’t stop glancing his way. The captain lay on the bed, his head toward the door, facing you. Each time your eyes met, you pulled yourself away from it, returning to the words and drawings on the pages, but you could constantly feel his gaze on you. It was unnerving. It was as if he was standing right there in front of you.
‘I promise you, I will be more effective if I do not have to endure your constant breathing down my neck.’ Maybe it was your surprisingly peaceful few hours in solitude on board, the tankard of ale streaming through your blood, or even the overall situation placing the captain in a new light, but you felt bold. ‘So, will you please stop staring.’ You looked up, not even surprised to see him still looking directly at you.
‘What would you rather have me do, darling?’ he asked, almost affectionately… though that could not possibly be what it was.
‘For you to leave, and do not call me darling,’ you dared to express.
‘You want me to leave my own quarters?’ He raised a brow in humour.
‘Yes, that is exactly what I want,’ you explained.
‘Ah, well,’ he threw his hands up, rolling his eyes, ‘if it is exactly what the lady wants, that leaves me with very few options, doesn’t it?’ You watched him walk towards the door, perplexed at the ease with which he moved, …just to swerve around and lean against the door. ‘Oh, no, I suppose it doesn’t.’ He shrugged.
You did your best not to pay attention to whatever the captain was doing—which, in that instance, seemed to be humming some song. You did not recognise it, nor did you have a need to learn it. Especially since, at this moment, any sound from him boomed in your ears like a canon.
‘Must you be doing that? I am trying to concentrate for your own ship’s sake, if you do not recall.’
‘Apologies.’ He stopped, but the energy transferred into his legs, which shook his whole body with them, only softening the sound slightly, but the creaking of the wooden panels underneath him wasn’t much better. You couldn’t do this any longer.
The only thing on your mind was frustration as you slammed the book shut, picked it up and walked towards the door. The captain took one smooth step to the side and, when you pulled at the door handle, had expected it to remain in its bolts, but it opened so quickly that your slight pull was enough to throw you sideways. The night darkness welcomed you together with the cold sea air and confusion.
‘How long has this been open?’ You did not want to look at him and did not need to. You could tell what kind of smile he wore and how he must have enjoyed this moment as he answered.
‘Ever since I came back, princess.’ You could have left any time. You just took a deep breath and counted to three before turning his way and calmly saying something you had thought ever since your eyes fell upon him.
Well, at least better late than never. You stepped out onto the quarter deck without closing the door behind you. A man was half-asleep at the wheel, his entire body leaning on it. Luckily, someone had blocked it, avoiding the ship sailing in circles.
Besides the sleeping helmsman, no one else seemed to be above deck, most likely in their beds as deep night had arrived. There were no lights besides the fire lit in the captain’s office, so you let the darkness take you as you walked down the stairs…. But midway, as the light from the captain’s cabin remained in the distance, you realised your mistake.
‘For Heaven’s sake,’ you muttered under your breath and turned back around, climbing the steps, ignoring the burning hatred you felt in your body. Then, with an exaggerated sigh, you trotted your way back in. While your steps felt heavy, protesting your return into the room mentally, it was strange to walk so freely without all the layers your dress consisted of. With only a shirt over your upper body, you could feel each punch of the air on you, but in a strange sense, you welcomed it.
But stepping back inside, you felt your body heat up again, mainly from embarrassment rather than the soft fire lighting up the cabin. It had not even been a minute, and you were passing the threshold again. You had not expected, nor wanted, to have returned so soon. If luck was ever in your favour, you would never see the interior in your life again, but, unfortunately, there was no escaping from this room for you, as you seemed to be coming back no matter what.
‘Back so soon, princess?’ In the short time of your absence, Munson had returned to the bed and tilted his head at your entrance, grinning, ‘You must have missed me more than I thought.’
You scoffed, ‘for your information,’ and grabbed a lantern on a dressing table closest to the door… which was still too many steps inside for your liking, ‘I am simply gathering some light. It is too dark outside, I cannot read what's on the pages.’
‘Ah. Is that all then?’ he asked, returning his head onto his pillow, closing his eyes as if he was ready for sleep, ignoring his clothes and the stoic position in which he lay. But as you moved around the cabin, he had opened one eye to look your way. ‘I’d suggest you take a jacket, princess. It can be quite cold out there.’
‘You could have made a fine gentleman, Munson.’ You held your head high, not looking at him. ‘It is a shame you let yourself deteriorate at sea like your ship.’
‘That actually almost hurt me, darling. I’m impressed.’ He chuckled, eyes already closed again. With nothing else to say, you passed the large wardrobe and walked straight out of the room. Once again, you walked down the stairs, celebrated when your feet touched the last step and walked onto the ship's centre. Along with the crashing of the waves, you could hear each of your footsteps.
Something must have been in your favour, for the sky was without a cloud and in the darkness of the ship, you could see millions of stars twinkling. The moon was still but a sliver. It brought a similar-looking smile to your face.
You searched for the page you had deemed the most useful beginning and spread the book in your arm. Now, with the book open in your arm, with the flames lighting the pages from above, you gazed up at the stars. After a short moment, this position would not be possible to uphold. The two objects you held were too strong to keep up in the air. Remaining as calm as possible, ultimately pressing the captain out of your mind, you reread the pages.
To navigate through the stars, one must first find Polaris—the brightest star in the sky, right at the end of the Ursa Minor. The sky was clear, handing you the constellations on an onyx platter. The silver balls of fire were peppered around like crystals, gleaming and shimmering, but without a doubt, there was one that shined just a little bit brighter, calling to you with the direction of True North.
You had heard men talk of these methods at home and aboard the Red Tail, and they had always sounded relatively simple. If anything, you considered their constant complaints simply a part of manhood. Now that you were straining out your neck to look around at all the corners of the galaxy, you still did not think it to be much more complicated and so knew that the captain could not have felt any other way.
You had figured out his plan to punish you, and now the rationale behind this specific task came to you. It would not have been unexpected if he tasked you with this hassling job simply because he was too much of a sloth to do so himself. There was still a dim light in the office quarters, so you assumed he had not gone to sleep yet… or perhaps fallen asleep with all the candles still flickering. For a moment, your mind wandered to where the candles tipped over, caught some of the wood around, and never stopped burning.
Just for a moment, until your lantern started to feel hot against you as you held it too close. It felt so heavy.  You had to set it on the ground, then sat down beside it with the book in your lap.
Some time passed, but who knew how long precisely you had been sitting out there. Your knees had started to hurt, as well as your spine, but giving up was not an option. The ship swayed back and forth against the waves, blurring your view, only making things more complicated. The wind kept lashing out, but you persisted, trying to calculate the ship's position, flipping back through the book to the pages on which a map had been etched out. You would do this if it was the last thing you did.
‘I will be done by sunrise, ’ you shouted as you heard footsteps behind you. The jingle of chains could have only been one person. You wiped some hair away that the wind blew in your face as you felt the captain’s presence behind you—like a deathly spectre hovering over you. ‘I– I promise.’ You said so more to yourself. Because while you had to prove yourself to him to live, you needed to prove to yourself that you could do this. You would persist and manage to find a way back home.
The captain said nothing; he did not linger around, watching you. The only thing he did, was throw down a large coat onto the ground, which fell onto the floorboards next to you with a thud. You blinked slowly, then turned around to him, but he was already returning to the cabin.
‘It will all be pointless if you freeze to death.’ And with that, he took his last steps and shut the door behind him. The light in his room immediately blackened, obscured by the stained glass in the small door window.
You looked down at the jacket. Like all those the captain wore, it was black but heavily layered. Decorated in what seemed like hand-stitched gold but not in any fashionable manner. The stitching was uneven and needed a clear pattern. The sleeves were falling apart but tied together with what once must have been a silver necklace. Several of them, even. You glanced once more in the direction of the captain’s cabin before putting the coat on. It swallowed you up but immediately brought over a sense of comfortable heat over your body. The soft material protected you against the wind. Now not feeling like your bones were becoming icicles, you began to feel some pleasure in the whole thing. As you kept working, you slowly forgot why you sat in the middle of the ship and let yourself be emersed by the stars. Being out there on your own was actually freeing in a strange sense. The darkness locked you out of your extended surroundings, placing you virtually anywhere.
Well, not anywhere. The constellations held the password to where you found yourself, and you would decrypt it anytime now.
But first, you needed to stretch your legs. The cracking of your joints was enough of a sign that you had sat on that floor long enough. With the lantern in hand, you walked in circles around the ship. The light swung in motion to your steps, in motion to the waves. When you looked out at the sea, you were greeted with two moons. One hung still in the sky while her sister swam in the waters. Mirrored images of each other, smiling and frowning in both directions, but never in reach. Conflicted, perhaps or maybe they simply managed to show you bits of yourself there?
You wanted to say something to them as you stood there, but no words felt right. So, peaceful silence it was. However, the longer you stood there, the more of an effect you thought from the hours you spent on the deck. And there was still so much you had to do. But you could do it.
Rubbing the sleep out of your eyes, you leaned against the railing, placing the lantern beside you. The yawn pushed passed your lips without a choice but plenty of resistance. If you stayed there, you would probably fall asleep soon, which is ineffective. So, you grabbed the light, and with your free hand deep in your pocket to keep warm, you returned to your star gazing spot. But not one step in your brisk walk back, you halted. A feeling of something cold and hard against your hand occupied your entire mind there and then. When you pulled it out, you were unsure what it was, but the mechanism must have worn out through the years because it fell open in your hand, revealing a rose. Its arrow pointing right at you.
A compass.
Your head immediately shot toward the captain’s cabin, but the lights had gone out, and there was nothing more to make out of the darkness. Your eyes shut into narrow slits. He had brought you his own jacket and must have known what was in it.
The question now was, why? Why did he give it to you? Was he trying to help you by giving you this tool? Did he think you needed help to get anywhere? Well, you certainly did not. Especially when it could be a trap. The device could very well be defective and put you on the wrong trail, and then, if you were to give the captain the wrong directions, you knew he would not waste a second by punishing you. And this time, correctly.
Still, according to your calculations, North was meant to be behind you, so in that, the compass was correct, but you did not want to risk anything. An instinct told you to throw the thing away, right over the railing into the sea. Let it sink and make the captain watch. Just like you had to watch, your own ship disappear into the waters. It would have been a small taste of revenge, but it was a start.
The idea faded as soon as you shut the compass. You looked at the engraving on it—a detailed depiction of a bird–which kind, you could not quite tell. Perhaps a hawk… could it be… no, you doubted it was a Redtail. It could not be. The simple idea of that brought chills down your spine. How could Munson possess such an item; engraved with your town’s crest?
And it was old. As you had noticed, the clip keeping the two halves together was tethering on falling apart from frequent use, and the window of the rose was cracked. The metal of the shell had finger marks faded into it from the usual position it was held in by hands much larger than yours.
Not wanting to see it again, you pushed the compass deep down the pocket you had found it in. Determined to have the images erased from your mind by the rest of your task and the time pressure put on it, you retrieved your book.
It was harder done than said.
As you stood there, book and fire in hand, spinning around to position the stars as you pleased, the tiny silver lights blurred in your eyes. But you were so close, you could not stop now, not when you were so close. Ignoring the burn of the compass at your thigh as your mind whirred with solutions. With North decided for, and with the latitude… no longitude— and if the charts were pointed this way— then, God, you could not keep this book up anymore. Your arm screamed from the weight of the pages.
Back on the ground, you resumed your final observations. Flipping between the map and the charts, exchanging glances with the book and stars. Yes, if that was North, then… then… you checked the map once more, locating your home definitively.
You did it. You actually did it. It could have been minutes, maybe hours; you could not tell with certainty how much time you had spent on the task, but as you shut the book, so did your body. You fell back onto the deck with a tired smile. It could have been the fatigue, but the stars shone slightly brighter for you, gleaming with pride.
They also became blurrier. Your eyes turned heavy. But you kept staring up with a smile. At least, you do not remember ever stopping. Even if it is possible you fell asleep at some point, you could not tell at what point exactly. All you knew was that you dreamt. And for once, your mind was free of nightmares. As much as your world was free of them, at least. But it had to be a dream.
How else would he appear out of the shadows?  Why else did you see him looking down at you; impossible to tell for how long. His features free of anger, mischief or bad intentions, unnatural. He stood there at the balustrade next to the helm. It was impossible to tell how long he had stood there in the dark.
And his walk. It was utterly silent, free of chains or heavy steps. That could have been only your brain letting you rest. His touch was feather soft as he picked you up in his arms.
You shouldn’t have stayed out here this long. He sighed in disappointment, but not in you.
You told me to— you mumbled.
I know. The floor became unstable. You were floating in the air, rising up. Only his hold there to keep you grounded. The one time you should have been stubborn and not listen. Why did you not just go to bed?
I want to go home, Eddie. Why else would you say this if it was not a dream? You could never imagine yourself opening up to him this way. Let him carry you like that. And if you had, it would never feel this good or safe to be held by him.
I know. He repeated himself. There was a shift. No longer in his arms, you were floating on a cloud, but his voice echoed around you. I’m sorry.
None of this could have been real. These could not be the words of captain Munson. But they still stayed with you as your dreams ventured on into other stories. All just as pleasant, the nightmares of all the nights before merely bad memories, never to be repeated again.
I did it, you said quickly before he disappeared, to be replaced by your new figment. North East. Go Northeast.
Here is your final reason. The proof you had dreamt it all. A silent moment, full of hesitation. Then, a fluttering touch of lips on your forehead and a hand brushing your cheek gently. If this had been real life, you would have turned away and let yourself burn in anger, but instead, your lips formed into a smile, and for the first time in forever, you felt at peace.
And just like that, like in any other dream, he was gone while your mind brought you to other fantastical places and told you stories you would not remember. It was a night of wondrous bliss, of rest. Filled with dreams as the stars watched over you.
Only at daybreak did it all change. When the morning sun glowed golden through the large window. Only at that moment you began thinking that maybe, just maybe, you were wrong. Perhaps not all of it had been a dream, for when you woke up, you were not on the ship's deck nor down in your cell. When you woke up, you did so in a bed.
The captain’s bed, of all places.

Hey! Can you write shanks with a mysterious reader who opens up one minute then becomes reserved the next? Their relationship is sort of like a friends either benefits one, it’s like they pin for each other, but shanks will be on the sea within less than a week so there’s some pressure to put a label on the relationship. Please include some smut if you’re able to! Make the ending angsty 😉
Shanks x Mysterious Reader - Relationship or Fling?
Authors Note: Hey! So sorry it took me so long. Life ya know? Hope you like the read. If not let me know. Request, Comment, Critique below! Let me know if we need the rest of the beach acts, just didn't want to make it too long or keep you waiting any longer. Thanks again for your patience!
Summary: Shanks and his crew stop by your island in need of a bit of a vacation. He meets you at your work, the local bar. You have had relationships with pirates before, always liking the more rugged type. Knowing full well it never works out, you try to keep your distance. You and Shanks end up friends with benefits during his stay and the two of you begin to develop feelings. One night trying to discuss his feelings with you and your plans for the future the two of you get carried away.
Warnings: MDNI, fingering, use of terms such a slut, pet names-princess and daddy, public sex-beach/bar, praise kink, i don't own these characters, ANGST, mentions of "love", mutual pining
The red-haired captain sat nestled in the glittering white sand, sipping on a bottle of sake. The ocean waves gently lapped at the tips of his sandals, their rhythmic ebb and flow echoing in the stillness of the moonlit night. The salty air mingled with the faint scent of smoke, a lingering reminder of a distant bonfire Shanks's crew was partying at. Shanks took a deep breath, savoring the peaceful moment, before taking another swig straight from the bottle.
Each sip was an attempt to drown out the restlessness within his soul. The warmth in his chest did little to ease the weight pressing down on his heart. Shanks’s gaze was fixed on the dark sea, trying to figure out where the water had ended and the sky had begun. A boundless expanse that mirrored the uncertainty of his thoughts. His fingers tightened around the sake bottle, eyes squinting against the moonlight as if searching for answers in the waters before him. He took another sip.
"Shanks!" A sweet voice called from behind him.
You dragged your feet through the warm specks of sand, watching as he turned to face you and choked on his sip of what you could only assume was sake—his favorite. You had chosen your outfit with a purpose. You knew how you looked in the flowing floral dress would take his breath away, and you were right. Glancing up at the stars hanging brightly above you, a smile spread across your rose-colored cheeks. Even when caught off guard, Shanks was undeniably handsome you thought, your eyes falling back on his face. He set the bottle beside him and wiped his chin with the sleeve of his white, flowing shirt.
"Hey, Y/N! Where’ve you been? The boys were looking for you." Shanks grinned, his eyes twinkling with desire as they roamed over your dress-clad figure.
"I’ve been around." You shrugged, your tone distant as if you were barely present. "Hope I’m not bothering you, Beckman told me where you were.” You said, wandering over to his side.
He forced a grin, though it didn’t reach his eyes. “You could never bother me.” He looked you up and down again, his forced grin fading to a warm genuine one before he turned to examine the water again. A troubled frown creased his brow.
"What's on your mind?" you asked, sitting beside him and reaching for the bottle nestled in the sand. "You thinking of leaving?" You took a sip, the coolness of the sake contrasting sharply with the warmth of your emotions.
"I don't know." His brow furrowed and he grabbed the bottle from your hand. "Our vacation has been long enough. I probably can't stay longer than the end of the week." He took a long drink, avoiding eye contact, his voice tinged with regret.
"I see." Your voice was flat, emotionless.
You tried not to look over your shoulder at him. Instead, you nodded your head, accepting the fact he was leaving. You bit your lip focusing on the sound of his breath. Your thoughts raced thinking of how warm it would feel against your neck.
You lifted your chin looking at the scars on his left eye, tracing the lines of his face, sending your heart aflutter. You raised a hand to touch his shoulder. You just wanted to touch him, but it trembled as you lifted it from your lap. The sensation of the slight tremor in your fingers caused your breath to catch in your throat.
The feeling was familiar, too familiar. You stopped yourself, lifting your hand to adjust your hair then resting it back in your lap. You Withdrew back into the comfort of your guarded silence.
***
Two weeks ago, Shanks and his crew arrived on your island, their laughter and boisterous energy announcing their much-needed break after a successful treasure score. It was in the dimly lit bar where you first encountered them. Shanks immediately stood out amidst the chaos. Despite the raucous behavior of his crew, he exuded a calm authority. His respect for others was evident in how he apologized to the other patrons for the noise and generously covered their tabs. The sincerity in his gestures set him apart from the usual pirates who came and went without a second thought.
That first night, the bar was emptied of its usual stock, yet Shanks lingered after hours, helping you tidy up. His genuine interest in you was palpable, an anomaly in a world of transient pirates. You were used to them arriving, making a mess, and leaving without a trace, but Shanks seemed different. His charm was magnetic, his intense gaze drawing you in despite your reservations.
As you mopped the floor, too absorbed in his story about a boy named Luffy you lost your footing. Shanks was there immediately, his arm encircling your waist with surprising tenderness. His onyx eyes locked onto yours, and you felt a warmth spread across your cheeks and down your body. You looked away momentarily trying to hide it, your fingers grazing a stray strand of hair, and tucking it behind your ear. But the pull of his gaze was irresistible. When you looked back, your hand found its way to his chest, the muscles bulging beneath his shirt grounding you.
A shiver ran through you as his breath hit your cheek. His eyes darted between your lips and face, making your pulse quicken. His touch lingered a moment longer than necessary, and you could feel the heat radiating from his body. You bit your lip and before you could blink. his mouth captured yours in a kiss that was both fierce and tender.
The night stretched on, the mundane task of cleaning forgotten as you and Shanks lost yourselves in each other. Tables were knocked over, the bar counter bore witness to your passion, and time seemed to stand still in the haze of your heated embrace.
***
"Y/N." Shanks’ voice pulled you out of the memories swirling in your head.
You shook your head, blinking a few times to clear the haze of nostalgia. His arm wrapped around your waist, pulling you close, but you instinctively pushed away.
He let out a sigh, his intense stare meeting your tightening jaw. "I don’t want to go without talking about us," he said, his voice tinged with the sweet and genuine authority you loved to see him use on his crew.
"Shanks, you’re a pirate. What is there to talk about? You’re leaving at the end of the week," you replied, your voice cold enough to make you shiver.
"Y/N..." His calloused hand found yours, his grip firm yet tender.
You sighed, the weight of the words in your heart, pressing down on you, making your chest feel heavy. "Then say what you want to say," you murmured, turning to meet his gaze, your heart pounding.
The thought of your days ending without the comfort of his gaze was suffocating. You squeezed his hand, desperately clinging to the moment.
“I don’t know what to say." His voice trembled, faltering as if the words were caught in his throat. He paused, running a hand through his hair, struggling to find the right words. "I need to go, but...".
His gaze dropped to the ground for a moment, his shoulders slumping. When he looked up again, the longing in his eyes was palpable, a mixture of desperation and yearning that seemed to pull at the very core of his being. He leaned in slightly, his proximity a silent plea, but his body remained rigid, as if afraid to close the gap between you. "I need you."
You had been here before, and you swore you’d never fall for a pirate again. That first night with Shanks, you were a fool. You let your guard down and fell for the charming stranger with a high bounty. The next morning, you scolded yourself, hoping you’d never see him again. But when he showed up that night, your chest ached, and your stomach turned because you knew it was already too late.
You hoped he’d ignore you, but his eyes found yours across the room. His presence was like a drug, and you couldn’t help but crave him. You kept your guard up, pretending it was only a fling by flirting with his crewmates and other guests to cover your true feelings. Your lone moments behind the bar were spent regaining your composure, battling the panic of potential loss. The only solace was that your jealousy drove Shanks wild, and he made his desire clear through passionate encounters.
You kept up the façade, until now, when you felt your walls crumbling faster than you could repair them. Your body pressed against his, one hand caressing his cheek, the other clutching his shirt. Tears welled as you focused on his nose brushing against yours, his lips hovering so close.
"Shanks..." You tried to speak, but his lips descended onto yours.
His body rolled on top of you and pinned you to the ground. The taste of alcohol and salt on his lips had you fervently exploring his body with your hands. Lust filled your mind as you reached for the waistband of his pants, your heart racing as the need to be with him, to feel him, overwhelmed every rational thought you had.
***
Shanks sat up slightly and shifted to straddle you. The moonlight casting shadows across his face as he gently took your hand from his waistband and brought it to his shoulder. His touch was tender, yet there was a fire behind his eyes—something unspoken simmering beneath the surface. His fingers brushed along your wrist before traveling up, slowly, before thumbing at the strap of your dress. His hand slipped down to the fabric of your dress at its bodice. You could feel the heat radiating off his fingers as they brushed against your chest. He took a deep breath, nuzzling his nose against your cheek, his breath intermingling with yours. His hand sank lower down the dresses material, tracing soft patterns over the fabric as if memorizing every line of your body.
Your breath hitched as he captured your lower lip between his teeth, drawing a quiet gasp from your throat. At the sound, his lips left yours, trailing kisses down your chin and neck, lingering just below your right ear where he nibbled softly. The sensation sent a shiver through you, and your fingers tangled in his hair, holding him close as though you feared the moment would slip away.
His lips peppered kisses down your neck, while his leg nudged between yours, and gently pressed, urging you wider as his hand wandered lower. Your nipples became sensitive and erect as his lips and hand wandered across your body. The satin of your dress was cool against you, a stark contrast to the warmth of his touch as it reached your chest. His fingertips explored your plump breasts through the satiny fabric admiring. Shanks lips returned to yours as he began twisting and pulling at your nipples. The cool fabric mixed with the motion of his hand made you writhe beneath him. Your heart pounded in time with the waves crashing against the shore, your body responding to his closeness with an intensity you hadn’t expected.
His lips pulled away again moving to your collarbone where he bit down, leaving a fleeting mark as his kisses continued their path downward. When he reached the low dip of your dress covering your cleavage, he paused, his breath warm against your skin. With a flick of his fingers, he tugged the fabric aside, revealing the soft curve of your breasts and perky buds. His eyes flicked up to meet yours, searching for something—an invitation, a question—before he allowed a small, teasing smile to play across his lips.
“So naughty of you, princess,” he whispered, his voice a low murmur that carried the weight of his desire, “to let me see you like this, show you off like this, here.”
Your heart raced at the edge of his words, caught somewhere between anticipation and longing. His lips found yours again, softer this time, almost reverent. His lips dove into yours as his hand squeezed at your breasts. Your tongue danced with his before he pulled away, a trail of saliva connecting you. As he pulled away, his hand slid down, fingers brushing the edge of your dress hem, his touch feather-light against your thigh. His tongue lapped at your nipple causing you to out another moan. His pointer and middle finger began to raise the hem higher and higher, until your core was fully exposed to Shanks and the beach.
“My, my, a bit underdressed for the beach, wouldn’t you say princess?” Shanks asked a slight smirk growing on his lips as they released your nipple.
“Shanks.” You cooed, his teeth sinking into the plush skin of your breast.
He growled. “You going to let daddy take you right here on the beach?”
You nodded, biting hard into your lip as his thumb began to roll along your clit.
“I knew you were a slut, always flirting with my crew to make me jealous.” His middle and fourth finger slipped between your folds. “Then not wearing underwear or a bra to meet me.” His fingers traced the shape of your lips throbbing between your legs. “Now you’re so wet at the idea of me taking you on this beach.” His head lifted from between your breasts and his gaze met your.
His eyebrows raised and a pleased grin spread across his cheeks. Your hands explored his chest, head falling to his shoulder. Your hips bucked at the friction of his fingers spreading your slick between your folds. You closed your eyes, letting the sound of the ocean and the gentle rhythm of his touch consume you.
His lips fell to your ear. Your breath was shallow with desire against his neck. His middle and fourth finger dipped into your core, his thumb drawing circles along your clit. You bucked at the fullness within you, causing you to clench down. You loved how his thick fingers felt within you, but you always wanted more. You gripped his shoulders tighter, adjusting as his fingers began to dip in and out of you. Your hips shifted against him, seeking more, each movement in tune with the rhythm he set.
The soft friction of his clothes against your bare skin made you feel alive, as though the world beyond the two of you had disappeared. All that mattered was the steady rhythm of his fingers, the way your body responded to every subtle motion, and the quiet intensity that hung between you—unspoken, but deeply felt.
“That’s a good girl. Be loud for daddy.” He softly whispered into your ear, lips pressing against it as he did.
The motion of his thumb sped up. His fingers within you found your g-spot causing you to release a moan. Your hands clawed deep into his clothed back, deep enough you felt they would leave a mark. His finger rolled against your g-spot pounding faster and faster. Your breath caught in your chest. The fire is brewing within your abdomen. Your eyes crossed.
“That’s it, let's go for daddy.”
“SHANKS!” You yelled as within you an explosion erupted causing the lower half of your body to shake against his fingers.
He softly chuckled and laid you back down in the sand. He stared at the rise and fall of your chest admiring how beautiful you looked, naked body accentuated by the moonlight. His fingers left their place inside you making you clench against your new found emptiness.
Your half-lidded eyes drifted upwards, the stars a blur against the night sky as you lay there, feeling the warmth still coursing through you. Shanks had a way of making you feel like the world melted away, leaving only this moment. A soft blush crept across your cheeks as you became aware of your body— how vulnerable yet cherished you felt on that quiet stretch of beach.
You blinked, and your gaze found him watching you, his expression soft but intent.
“You’re beautiful,” he murmured, the sincerity in his voice sending a flutter through your chest.
A small smile tugged at your lips. “Yeah? I thought you…” You paused, your breath still uneven as you came down from the high of pleasure he’d just given you. “I thought you were going to take me here? Can’t let me have all the fun.”
His lips curved into a teasing grin, a glint of mischief in his eyes. “Now who said I was done with you?”
As the two of you continued in your beach activities, all thoughts and worries of your prior conversation dissolved. All that mattered that night was the moment, not the uncertainty of what might happen next, not the unspoken tension between you—only the warmth of his body against yours and the quiet, shared intimacy of the two of you on the beach under the moonlight.
***
After a bit more fun, you and Shanks dressed and wandered back to his crew. You stayed for a couple of drinks, but the excitement of the night quickly faded as reality set back in. Eventually, you left alone, too worn out from the earlier events to stay late and party, though something deeper gnawed at you. That night, you went to bed with a smile on your face, but it didn’t last. As you lay there in the quiet, the smile faded into a sigh. The moment on the beach had been perfect, but the knot in your chest only tightened, knowing how unresolved things still were between you and Shanks.
Your thoughts kept circling back to the feeling of his touch, the warmth of his presence. You always wanted to be with him, but he was a pirate. He wouldn’t stay grounded for long and you couldn’t possibly go with him. What did it mean? Was this just another night to him? Would he leave at the end of the week and come back? Were you just another girl to him or were you something different? No matter how hard you tried, sleep eluded you, leaving only the hollow ache of uncertainty.
The next afternoon, you dragged yourself into your shift at the local bar, exhaustion and questions weighing heavily on you. As you walked in, your boss handed you a letter with your name on it. "Some guest dropped it off before opening," they said, shrugging it off as if it were nothing.
Your heart raced. The envelope was sealed neatly, and the handwriting was unfamiliar, yet there was something about it that made your pulse quicken. You hesitated for a moment before carefully pulling at the edge of the envelope. Inside was a small, folded letter, the faint scent of sake rising from it. You didn’t need to see the signature to know who it was from.
With trembling hands, you unfolded the note.
Y/N, we had to head out earlier than planned.
Just know I love you.
-Shanks
The words seemed to blur on the page as you stared at them. Love. Did he mean it? Would he come back? He didn’t say? If he did love you, why didn’t he say goodbye or at least invite you to go with him? You clutched the letter tightly, your chest heavy with the weight of his absence, a thousand questions flooding your mind. Was that the last you’d see of him? Was "love" enough to keep him coming back? The ache inside you deepened, a reminder of how fragile everything between you was.
As the sounds of the bar came to life around you, you felt impossibly small, lost in the uncertain space between the past and whatever future lay ahead.

Mermaid's Call (Roronoa Zoro x fem!Reader)
A/N: Working on your requests, but meanwhile... (send more)- Val

Tumblr media
You’re sitting on the handrail of the ship’s deck, looking to the horizon and the ocean in front of you, waiting for the sunset. You like how the breeze gives you goosebumps, while your lungs refresh themselves with every breath.
For a few weeks now, this has been part of your routine, and the crew on board understand that they must give you alone time. It’s a moment of peace in the face of the chaos, a time to not think about problems, the danger of the grand line, conflicts with other pirates or enormous creatures... or Zoro and the fact that you have been avoiding and running away from him every time you spot his green hair.
Although he didn’t dare to interrupt your private moments, you could feel his gaze on you for the rest of the day, and he’s even tried to talk to you, but you always manage to escape.
“Just five minutes, I promise it’ll be quick!” Says Luffy behind you.
You turn over your shoulder to see him walk beside an irritated Nami. You giggle at the sight and move to watch it better.
“For the millionth time; NO!” She stops walking. “Sanji will be back in any minute now, you can’t leave!”
“But,” Luffy pouts. “It’s a new island, we must explore—”
“An island surrounded by marines ready to kill us, Luffy!”
“I can be cautious and quiet,” he says, almost offended. “Just a quick run and—”
“I said, no. It’s too dangerous,” Nami says, to keeps walking to her trees.
“But… I’m the captain,” Luffy whispers. He stomps his foot one time and crosses his arms. His childish behavior makes you laugh, and he turns to you.
“It’s not funny.”
“Sorry, Captain. But it is,” you answer.
In that moment, Zoro walks pass you and your smile fades. He yawns stretching his strong body. He looks at Luffy.
“I’m headed out to buy some booze,” he says.
As soon as you see him turn towards the exit, your body reacts immediately, and you grab him by the bicep. “Wait!” He looks at your hand and then at you with a frown. “We can’t leave. The island’s surrounded by marines. It’s dangerous,” you repeat Nami’s words.
He raises a brow and looks again at your hand. You follow his gaze and quit grabbing him.
“Sorry,” you whisper. You can’t deny the sting in your chest when he shakes his arm, like he’s shaking off your touch.
“Why are we here then?” He says coldly.
You look down at your hands playing with your fingers. “Sanji went to town to buy emergency supplies,” you explain.
“Oh, so the waiter can leave, but not me. Ridiculous,” he scoffs rolling his eyes and walking back to the exit.
“Zoro!”
“You don't rule here, alright princess?” He hiss looking over his shoulder. “He does.” He points at Luffy, who’s leaning on the railing still with a pout.
“If you leave, you’ll owe me 10000 berries,” says Nami walking to us, crossing her arms.
Zoro raises his brows looking at her. “What? Why?”
Nami shrugs, “It’s up to you, Zoro. That’s the rule.”
They start arguing while you sigh, grateful for Nami’s interruption. You know her real intentions to distract Zoro. You walk away towards the railing where you were before, now next to a disappointed Luffy.
Suddenly, the slow beginning of dusk abruptly changes to the darkest night you have ever seen.
“Hey! Who turned off the sun!?” says Luffy.
“That was weird,” you add.
You all wait for something to happen, but the only noise that is heard is a sharp thump, Usopp's screeches, followed by Luffy's laughter.
“Y/N?” asks Nami.
“Got it,” You say as your body lights up and small electric rays burst around you.
The main deck is bright enough for Nami and Zoro to look for flashlights and put them all over the boat.
“What now?” Usopp asks, rubbing his head from the fall earlier.
“We should be alert, it might be a trap,” says Nami.
Everyone gathers in a circle, ready to attack. However, minutes pass and nothing happens.
“Just when I thought something interesting would happen,” Luffy scoffs taking his place again.
“I'll take a nap,” Zoro says walking towards a corner.
Usopp shrugs and sits on the ground while Nami glares at them.
“Woohoo! Look at that!” Luffy yells pointing at the sea.
You turn and stand next to him, trying to focus your eyes on what he’s seeing. “I don't see anything, Captain,” you frown.
“No, I swear. I saw a tail, like, a big one! Like a big fish!” With those words his stomach growls. “We should cook it.”
In that moment, something else catches your attention, a sound. While Luffy tries to convince Nami and Usopp, your ears catch a melody that they don't hear. The sound increases as if it were approaching from the sea.
You lean on the railing and look down, where the water moves as a shape emerges from it. You gasp when you recognize, among the poor lighting, a woman, or so it appears.
She connects her gaze with you, opens her mouth, and moves it to the sound of a beautiful song. “Wow...” you whisper. The woman frowns as she continues singing and seems to raise her voice.
“Hey! Guys, look what—uh...” you turn to the others but there’s something odd with them. “G-guys?”
Usopp and Nami are standing in front of you, but their bodies are stiff, and their gazes are lost. You approach slowly and notice that even the color of their eyes changes to a grayish one as if they were cloudy.
“N-Nami?” You move her shoulder, but she still doesn't react. You turn to your right, where Luffy is now standing in the same state as the others. “Shit.”
You hear a splash followed by a crash behind you, you turn to find the same woman sitting on the railing, only, instead of being curious about her, now it is pure terror as you see her skin covered in pointy scales, snake eyes, and a fishtail.
“Uh, hi?” You try to speak, but his reaction is the opposite of what you expected; She frowns again, tilts her head, and tries to sing again, she looks at you as if she is expecting something, she opens her mouth showing her sharp teeth and pointed tongue.
The creature moves its body in such a way that it lets its scales launch towards you with great speed. You flinch back, dodging her attack and falling to the ground.
“Holy shit!” You yell and look towards the others. “What the hell's going on!?”
The creature hides its teeth and sings again, this time looking directly at Usopp.
He blinks several times and looks at the mermaid, “Kaya?” He gasps. “What are you doing here? Oh, Kaya, I've missed you so much!” He walks to her and hugs her tight. The creature smiks. “I love you, Kaya,” and with a jump, the siren pulls Usopp so that they both fall into the sea.
"No!" Thanks to your powers, you manage to grab Usopp's ankles to pull him hard and return him to the ship. You and Usopp fall back to the wooden floor. “Fuck,” you moan in pain.
To your right, Usopp lies on the floor, unconscious, but still breathing.
"Sorry, buddy," you whisper.
Again the chant is heard and it's Luffy's turn to react.
"Meat?" You roll your eyes. "Meat..." He purrs, drool running down his chin.
"Uh-uh, not you," you say hugging him around the waist.
"Hey, no—let me go," he says trying to pull away. "It's mine! My meat!" He wriggles like a worm.
Luffy is stronger than you and you can't use lightning against his rubber body. "Luffy!" You yell at him. "It's not real! Please stop! C'mon, Captain," you try your best but it's useless.
You feel more distress with Luffy because of his strength and the fact that he'll die if he gets to the water. But then, an idea pops into your head when you see the ship's mast not so far from you.
"Bingo!" You release Luffy's body but catch his right arm. You run towards the mast making his arm stretch out and do a few spins around it and then bind his hand so he can't undo the spins.
By this time, Luffy is already very close to the mermaid's claws, but his outstretched arm prevents him from following. The mermaid hisses in frustration as her second prey is yanked away (literally). Luffy's body slams into the mast, but he doesn't seem to care much.
"What?" He asks looking at his arm, he tries to free himself but it's complicated. "I want my meat!" He whines and cries as you sigh.
You take a look at your two troubled friends "Hum... maybe just works with men?" You say out loud when tie Usopp together with Luffy.
"That's a whole treasure!" Nami squeals.
"Fuck!"
----
"Alright you three!" You shout to the three people trying to get out of the rubber ropes. "There's no meat! You can't go to the ocean, you'll die!" You point at Luffy. "The treasure's not real!" Now to Nami. "And Kaya's not here!" Usopp cries.
You sigh putting your hands on your hips.
"Besides, you two can't go to the ocean either 'cause I can't save you if you do! And—wait," You stop the scolding and frown.
Nami, Luffy, Usopp, and Sanji's in town. There's one missing.
Someone tackles you and drags you awkwardly until your body collides with the wall. Your breath escapes from your lungs at the shock and when you open your eyes, you meet Zoro's directly. His body's against yours, leaving very little space between you.
You frown at him. "What?" You notice that his eyes have changed too. "Z-Zoro?" You stutter under his clouded gaze.
Zoro presses his forehead to yours in a deep sigh. "I've missed you so much," he groans.
Your heartbeat increases so much that you can hear it in your ears, and your body tenses in an attempt to pull back . "What?" You whisper with a frown.
He pulls back a little to look at you, his hard features softening as his eyes move swiftly across your face. You've never seen him like this before. The great pirate hunter Rorona Zoro is renowned for his seriousness and poker face.
"I'm so sorry," he almost whispers.
“You’re sorry? For what?”
“I don’t know what I did to you, but I wish you could forgive me, princess,” his hand cups your cheek so delicately. “You’ve been ignoring me and running away from me and I don’t know why,” he says like he’s suffering.
A huge lump forms in your throat at his words. Your mind clouds over and the real siren problem takes a back seat, shielded by the beautiful man begging for your forgiveness. "I-I... Zoro."
"I'm sorry," he repeats like a prayer.
You shake your head. "No, Zoro, it's not... you don't have to," You try to form a coherent sentence, but he's so... vulnerable and so... close. "You didn't do anything wrong."
He then does something you rarely see. He smiles sweetly, so soft. “You’re so pretty,” he says leaning further. You can feel his breath mixing with yours. “Pretty Princess,” he lets out a soft chuckle to then kiss you finally.
You sigh into the kiss as you feel your body melt against his. Your hands travel from his broad and strong chest to hold onto his shoulders, and his hands go to your hips to bring you even closer.
Princess, that stupid nickname he gave you the first time you met him, he always uses it as a mockery, but in this situation, it sounds so… good.
“Let me take care of you,” he says as he trails a path of kisses from your jawline to your sensitive neck. You couldn’t help but moan when he starts to kiss, lick, and bite there, leaving marks. “Let me protect you.”
“Z-Zoro,” You can feel his stupid and sexy grin against your skin.
“You have… no idea… how much… I’ve been waiting for this,” he returns to your lips. “For you”.
“Me too,” You breathe and take his face gently between your hands.
He sighs in relief, and he raises a hand to hold one of yours, but you push it away, groaning in pain. You frown and look at your hand, which has a deep cut on the back that you hadn't noticed before. Nor the blood that covers it almost completely. "What?"
"What happened?" asks Zoro with a concerned look.
And then you remember the mermaid's sharp scales. The pain brings you back to reality. You gasp as you see over Zoro's shoulder:
There are now three other mermaids on board, but they have legs! And they are dangerously close to Nami, Usopp, and Luffy. One of them tries to free them, while the others keep singing for them.
"Shit!" You move to the side and run while you send a bolt of lightning to the mermaid that's touching Luffy's arm.
She falls knocked out to the floor while the others jump startled. They look at their friend and then look at you with more anger than ever, making you stop. They hiss at you and take out their claws and scales.
Before the fight begins, you hear something behind you; it's Zoro taking out two of his katanas, ready to keep his promise to protect you, but that doesn’t last long, because the mermaids sing at the same time and louder to him. Zoro’s katanas fell and then his body.
"Alright, I'm alone," you return to the creatures, who now have what appears to be foam coming out of their mouths. "What the hell are you!?"
The three mermaids rush towards you in a leap as they hurl their scales. You dodge their attacks and hurl lightning bolts at them, but they too know your trick and dodge them.
"Shit, this is useless," you say out loud while you hide behind the ship's mast.
"Meat! My love, forgive me for this!" Luffy whines next to you. You groan not knowing what to do.
But then, you hear Zoro's voice again. "I'm sorry, Y/N," he says as he walks to a mermaid, dragging his feet and stretching his arms towards her.
"Fuck no," the first mermaid is guiding him towards the railing. "I should have tied you up too!"
One last time, you use your powers to run at lightning speed, grab Zoro by his arm, and pull him back to the boat. He falls to the ground, unconscious, leaving you alone with the siren.
The creature attacks you at the same time as you launch a powerful bolt of lightning. The impact causes her to be pushed away from the ship, along with her two other friends.
Your chest rises and falls with your heavy breathing, the use of your power always takes a lot of energy, but you stay on alert for another attack. However, something happens that you don't expect.
The sun returns in a slow, normal dawn. You frown at it, relaxing your body.
"What the hell? Luffy!" Nami yells.
"Why are we tied up in Luffy's arms? It's disgusting," says Usopp.
Luffy wriggles around trying to get free. "I can't—"
You turn to them, and you smile hearing their normal voices.
"Fuck, my head hurts," Zoro groans sitting on the floor.
"Let me help you," you say.
Nami raises her gaze to you, but her expression falls when she looks at your abdomen.
"Y/N! You're hurt!"
Those are enough words for Zoro to jump to his feet, ignoring your confusion and pain. You frown and look down, your blouse is covered in a large bloodstain. You try to grab the cloth, but your hands feel clumsy, slow, and weak. Your vision blurs.
"Uh, okay," you say before passing out.
-------
"I can't believe all of you," says Sanji as he puts a new plate of food on the table. "I leave you alone for a few hours and you almost let the only worthwhile person on this ship die, besides Nami of course."
You laugh at his words as you eat.
"Hey, it wasn't our fault!" says Usopp, sitting down next to you. He pouts and slowly moves part of the bandage around his head.
"Yes! The fish-witch did it!" adds Luffy, sitting down on the other side of you and taking a bite of your food.
“Speaking of witchcraft,” says Nami arriving at the kitchen “The lady’s here.”
“Fantastic,” Sanji applauds.
“What lady?” you ask.
“I met her in the town, she makes an excellent casserole, but she’s a healer too, very famous. I asked her if she could check on you and the others.”
You scoff. “Sanji, I’m fine, it’s just a scratch.”
Sanji leans back and rests his hands on the table with a sympathetic smile. "Sweets, you've been gone for three days, and besides, the moss-head has been acting weird ever since. Maybe there's something else about the mermaids we should know.”
“You’re right, Blondie,” says an old lady entering the kitchen. The rest of the crew also reunite and sit by the table, looking expectantly. “Well, I’m always busy and you kids have to run before the Marines find your new spot,” she points at them. Then she looks at you. “You’re very lucky, girl. But you’ll be alright. Here,” She puts a bottle on the table. “Put this ointment on and continue taking care of your wound.”
“Thanks,” you say taking the bottle.
She nods and continues. “Alright, those creatures are very dangerous and very different from the real mermaids. The fish people and these creatures are forever enemies. The main difference is that the tailed women are more violent, and they can’t see the good or bad things. They just want to attract humans and eat them alive.”
Usopp shrieks and trembles in his place. “We could’ve died!” He yells.
“Yeah, well,” the lady shrugs. “Thanks to your friend you didn’t,” she points at you.
“But,” says Nami. “I don’t even remember what happened, at first, I thought it was a dream. How does it work?”
“Their power involves a specific kind of music and their voices at a certain frequency that makes an illusion in someone’s head. The few survivors say that they see something or someone they want at that moment. On many occasions, they are banal objects, but it is something that causes pure desire, and they need it. In others, they are people who love, miss, or have not been able to confess their true feelings, even their deepest secrets are revealed under that effect. Now you know why the Marines want to be on this island so much. They use them as a form of manipulation.”
The entire crew thinks in silence for a few seconds, only for Luffy's thunderous laughter breaks the moment.
“So it wasn’t a dream!” He exclaims. “The fish-witch made me see meat!” He laughs and bangs the table many times. “It makes sense, ‘cause I love meat!”
Even Nami giggles a little. “I saw a big ass treasure,” she crosses her arms and grins proudly.
On the contrary, Usopp's face turns completely red, and he seems to hold his breath.
“What’s wrong, Usopp? What did you see?” Luffy asks him and you giggle. The others look at you with a frown, while Usopp looks at you with terrified eyes.
“I know who he saw,” You raise your brows, and you leave your empty plate.
“You saw a person?” Nami asks.
“No! I saw nobody—I mean…” Usopp tries to relax his body. “I saw a beautiful princess that I knew but couldn’t marry because of my pirate nature.”
“Oh, really?” You smirk. “And her name’s like your friend from your island? ‘Cause it was the only name you repeated last night. Kaya! I’ve missed you so much!” you say trying to imitate his voice.
Everybody bursts into laughter, and he blushes harder. They make fun of him for a while, and maybe they’ll never gonna let this go.
At some point, Nami turns to Zoro, who’s quieter than usual.
“Zoro, what did you see?” she asks him. Of course, Zoro’s cheeks and ears turn into a pinky shade. “Oh, my god! Who was it?” She squeals.
He tenses his body, making the muscles of his arms pop and he clenches his jaw looking away. “None of your business,” he groans.
“So, you did see someone!” Usopp points at him. “C’mon, man. Tell us!”
From the other end of the table, you watch Zoro's reaction, and you can't help but blush and smile as you remember his words, the heat of his body, and the softness of his lips. Now that you have the new information about the fish witches, your heart jumps as you connect the dots between yours and Zoro’s feelings.
“Not gonna happen,” he shakes his head looking at Usopp who insists with Nami, Luffy, and even Sanji. But then, just a second, he looks at you and makes you shiver. You need to talk to him.
“But I don’t understand,” The crew shut up and paid attention to you. “Why didn't the voices affect me like the others?”
The lady sighs. “It’s very rare to be immune to their power, but I don’t have the real answer, girl. The people in town say that those people’s hearts already know what they want for their lives, but it’s still uncertain,” she shrugs.
You just nod making a face.
“Anyway,” the lady stands up. “That’s all the information I got!” She looks at Sanji “Pay me, Blondie.”
Sanji grunts but he still gives the lady a piece of paper. She smiles victoriously. She doesn’t even say goodbye when she leaves the ship, but Nami, Luffy, and Usopp leave the kitchen to prepare everything and set sail as soon as possible.
The kitchen remains silent, and you feel the rush of fatigue run through your body and, above all, your wound, so you try to get up carefully. Sanji notices this and immediately comes over to help you.
“Wait right there, Darling. Let me help you,” but before he can touch you, Zoro walks over to you.
“I’ll help her,” he says. Sanji wants to complain, but Zoro interrupts him again. “You cook the dinner before Luffy gets cranky.”
Sanji scoffs but he nods and walks away. You raise your head as he shyly approaches.
“Uh- Can I… lift you?”
you nod. He carries you in bridal style so carefully, like you were about to break in any second.  Zoro walks with you without rush and you can’t take your eyes off him. “You’re staring,” he says.
“I am,” you won’t deny anymore. “We need to talk.”
His cheeks blush again, and he nods. “Do you mind if we go to the crow’s nest?”
“Not at all,” you smile thinking that he wants to be in his safe and private place.
When you arrive, he puts you carefully on the floor and sits next to you.
“So…” he begins without looking at you. “It wasn’t a dream.”
You keep looking at him. “Noup.” He nods. You bite your lower lip and sigh. “That’s the reason why I’ve avoided you,” you say and he turns his head to you. “I’m sorry” you blush. “I know it’s dumb, but, I was really scared of things changing between us and I didn’t want to lose you and, the only solution I could think was… if I avoided you, I wouldn't feel anything and…forget everything and get back to normal.”
He stares at you. “Yeah, it was a dumb idea.” He said trying to hide a smirk.
“Hey!” You punch his strong arm and you both laugh.
Zoro licks his lips as he turns to you. “I wish it had been different. I mean, not me drunk ‘cause of a fish’s song telling you what I feel,” he scoffs.
“And… what do you feel right now, Zoro?”
He smirks. His eyes travel from your eyes to your lips. “I meant what I said in the dream, but...” he moves his body to face you and raises one hand to cup your cheek. “I…love you,” he whispers before kissing you.
This time, the kiss is more gentle, soft, and slow. Both of you enjoy the feeling of each other. You grab a fist of his shirt to pull him closer and you move slightly without thinking, but that mistake makes you gasp in pain.
He moves away suddenly. “Are you okay? Did the wound open? Let me look for Nami—” he says quickly making you giggle.
“I’m fine, you assure him. “Just forgot about it for a second. And you look hot worrying about me,” You kiss him again.
“You scared the shit out of me for three days, you know?” He says breaking the kiss. “Promise me you won’t do that again.”
“Why? ‘Cause you’ll protect me like the princess that I am?” You tease him and he laughs.
“You won’t let that go, uh?”
You look at his beautiful eyes and you can’t believe that this man’s finally yours. “God, I love you,” you caress his cheek. “And that’s a no.” You chuckle.
He rolls his eyes and grabs your face to kiss until the end of your lives.
