"This began as a beat I had made but had not yet written any words or melodies for. Bunty and I had a play around with it and splashed a little nonsense into it, which then lay dormant for a while. I really like the life series. It rotates in my brain like a microwave.

I also really enjoy cosmo Sheldrake's music

There is no chance cosmo Sheldrake knows what the life series is. (He made the soundtrack for a documentary about fungi. I'll be surprised if he even knew what Minecraft is(exaggerating))

New Cosmo Sheldrake song Run sounds like it would be in an old-timey animated film about a marching band of woodland creatures. Kind of Disney's Robin Hood vibes, y'know?

Eye to the Ear

Cosmo Sheldrake is one of my favorite musicians of all time. This album feels like a natural extension of how his music has evolved.

Many songs, like Lichen, respond to earlier work directly or in echoes. Half Past Three echoes Linger A While.

Still mostly relying on electronic techniques like looping and sampling, this album incorporates more performed instruments and the vocals of HOWL consistently throughout the album. and oh do these performances mesh so well with Cosmo's field recordings. All these different timbres and colors weave together in a rich tapestry that delights the ear.

Like The Much Much How How and I, this album at once feels like a celebration of the present moment and a cry of dread for the future. Eye to the Ear feels much more subdued, it feels more personal. Even the dancier tracks feel pensive. Throughout the album there is a tension between wanting to escape and yet trying to ground yourself in your body. Songs like Breathe Round Corners, The Feet Are the Link, But Once A Child resonate the most strongly with me. I find myself humming these to myself like a lullaby. Oh I could write an essay, but I try to keep these short.

Overall, all bangers no skips. Enjoyable on my first listen, keeps getting better as I listen closer
