Today, when I went to the temple, I wore Vans and mismatched socks. And do you know what the temple workers said to me? "Welcome to the House of the Lord".

Today, when I went to the temple, my dress was covered in wrinkles. And do you know what they said to me? "Thank you for being here."

Today, when I went to the temple, my hair was a frizzy disaster, and I was more lost than a blind cow in a corn maze. And do you know what they said to me? "Where are you trying to go? Here's how to get there, let me show you."

Today, when I went to the temple, I sat in the chapel and messed with my all-white fidget cube, tense and nervous. And do you know what the person sitting next to me said? "That's so cool! I want one of those!"

Today, when I went to the temple, I turned to the veil worker and said, "I'm gonna need that paper; I don't know what I'm doing." and do you know what she said? Well, she didn't say anything. But she held up the paper so I could see, pointing out line by line so I didn't feel bad about messing it up.

Today, when I went to the temple, I sat in the celestial room and cried. Big heaving sobs, not even cute little "single tear streaming down face." And you know what the girl next to me said? "I just wanted to let you know, I think that you're beautiful."

Today, when I went to the temple, I didn't do so for fun. I did so because I desperately needed to. Living out of moving boxes, I threw on a dress and left straightaway, right from work. I'm a newbie at the temple. I don't know what I'm doing. And at every turn in the temple, there were opportunities for people to point that out -- to make me feel stupid or like I wasn't respecting the Lord or like I didn't belong there. But at every turn, there were people there supporting me. Worshipping with me. Helping me to feel His presence.

I don't know if the church is true. But I do know that the people are true. There are good people there.

ELYON: cold. icy. sapphires. i know he's rich. but metaphorically his gaze just looks so cold.

You can really tell when fantasy book art started to go downhill when people started bringing computers into it. I really miss the days of gorgeous, highly detailed hand-drawn cover art. When did stock images and barely detailed photos become mainstream for book art?
