The dynamic in Rise between the rest of the team and Leo is. so fucking funny. Because like you've got these three extremely talented individuals who all seem like perfectly reasonable people at first glance, right, but then if you squint hard enough you realize they're actually all batshit insane (affectionate) and the clown boy standing behind them is secretly their common sense.
Clown boy will occasionally put himself and the others in danger to Prove Himself or Prove Someone Wrong (see Minotaur Maze and the movie) but like otherwise... i think people forget Leo's overwhelmingly the voice of reason in most situations?
Raph, Mikey, and Donnie are all incredibly powerful boys with very specific skill sets. They are also, as a direct result of this, the WORST decision-makers on god's green earth lmao. When presented with a problem, Raph will smash, Donnie will blow shit up, and Mikey will razzmatazz. They will all run straight toward death with the same oblivious enthusiasm of a dog about to run straight into a screen door. None of them realize this and all of them think they are Extremely Good At Problem-Solving.
And the guy cursed with the common sense to realize this is literally the LAST person anyone would expect.
When you look closely, the entirety of Rise is actually a chronicle of Leo trying to find new and creative ways to keep this team of superpowered fools alive while simultaneously white-knuckling his Cool Fun Guy persona so the others don't realize he's secretly the Boring Responsible One. Haha, you know what would be Cool and Fun, guys? Not going after the Spine Breaking Bandit lol. Getting home before the sun goes up lol. Evacuating that civilian lol. Not telling the guy dangling me off a roof "you won't, no balls" lol.
The sacred struggle of every iteration of Leonardo is thanklessly wrangling the most trigger-happy siblings in the world, and Rise Leo has not escaped it. He just does an occasional shenanigan to avoid detection and his brothers fall for it every time.

trying to go through the psycholonials tag why are you people saying the art is ugly and bad what the hell. did you actually read the whole thing or were you turned off by the Pixels on the first page
“it’s not as imaginative or interesting as anything in mspa” what the hell are you talking about.
do you understand how hard it is to get these colors to look this gorgeous together. do you even try to be immersed in zhens mental state (which is quite obviously what the art is evoking especially for characters like percy or the cops).
i would argue that not only is the juxtaposition of this style incredibly whimsical and fun as hell but actually some of it’s more technically advanced than art in homestuck
look at this guy! look at the level of rendering and shadow! how are you thinking this is ugly!

Okay look you don't understand, The Pre-Pilots Kai book does things to my brain that I couldn't even imagine-
I already adore Kai and Zane and their show dynamic but this fucking book takes it to a WHOLE new level, like "Jay and Cole are best friends" levels when it comes to dynamic.
I've said a million times and I'll say it again, Kai gets Zane like no one else, he has a particular soft spot for the guy the other ninja didn't have at the time, and I'd argue even nowdays he still has that soft spot, and I'd assume vice versa as well.
And just, aghhg7abflnwofm
They both are so amazing I love them, Zane might not fully understand Kai, and the guy probably stood out to Zane immediately because he's so god damn out there and Loud and angry and all that-
But even if he's bad at emotions, he's smart enough to know that it's out of deep care and worry...
"I envy you"
HE FUCKING KNOWS KAI IS LIKE THAT BECAUSE HE'S SO WORRIED ABOUT NYA GET OUT-
Then suddenly, it's turned 180 when Kai wonders why Zane even envys him.
How can you envy someone that just lost their family member?
Answer: You don't even have family to begin with.
Like the secretly ever caring guy he is, Kai goes:
"I've been so caught up with my own problems, I never stopped to think about what his might be."
At that moment, Kai realised that despite everything, he has a luxury that Zane might never be able to expiernce (within the context of The Pilots, ignore "Tick Tock" for now), and he can't even imagine his life without any family.
That, in Kai's mind, is hard to comprehend fully, "Wouldn't that be at least a little distracting?"
Oh how we'd come to eventually understand SO CLEARLY if you've read the Zane Pre-Pilots book and watched Tick Tock, as a matter of fact, that that's possibly the most distracting thing ever for Zane, he constantly thinks about his past, and Kai managed to make that good assumption purely off of Zane's explanation of his very brief past.
And if that wasn't already bad enough for my brain rot-
Since they have time, why not and try solve Zane's issues with him?
Look I'M TELLING YOU- THESE 2 ARE BESTIES-

One of the things that i like the most about dungeon meshi, is how, through the adventurer's bible, we get a deep dive of some extremely marginal characters. We get extra sketches of them in litteral aus. We get extra interaction between characters. And at the end of it all i look at this incredibly masterful piece of art and literature and i feel a sense of connection with the author. Usually like most mainstream media, i feel this wall between me and the author. I get the finished piece, i don't get to see anything else, no windo in the author's inner world beyond the very polished end result.
With Ryoko Kui i feel a sense of kinship. I feel like I'm back in the back yard scribbling on a sketchbook, with my friends, as we each ramble about our ocs and our stories. And i look at her and i smile and ask "tell me more."

Everyone's talking about how cute raccoons are, and while i agree wholeheartedly, all i can think about it the time i was at camp and i woke up to raccoons in our tent cause one was patting my ass through my cot, and then another grabbed one of the other girls' hands and she screamed and our councilor had to literally sweep the raccoons out of our tent with the broom she grabbed to hit intruders with lol. we made extra sure everything was zipped all the way closed after that
