video tour-ish of my experiential art box. sheets and sounds and collages and drawings of one story. suni’s many-ed narrative. if i was gonna take a break with making tactile poetry, i’m proud it was this one. this one’s for stolen boyhood and reclaiming it, for traumas and moments of harsh survival that’s unnameable, this is ebo.(sacrifice)

i had pushed edges within language and exhausted it. then realized that i wanted to push edges even more, make language more experiential, dissolved into visual and sensorial means beyond itself, without heavy reliance on written word, the text, what is seen and read.

i’ve been moving toward making work that adopts poetic elements from my culture: yorùbá’s theatrics, rhythms, surreality (for lack of better word). i’m starting to observe how the language makes images in my head, expresses itself in really inspired and beautiful ways. we’re seeing about this turn. we’ll see we’ll see 🌟🪷🫧

Tiny Review: Chungking Express 1994. Lovely Feels in Hong Kong.

The one of the best experiential movies I have watched.

The melancholic mood, the setting, the quirks, the dialog, the letters, the eating place, all chef’s kisses.

I felt like I was in 1990s Hong Kong. I felt the hustle and bustle. Noise, smell, mood, dirt and grime and grit, savvy and sassy and culture of 1990s Hong Kong.

Chungking Express is a 1994 Hong Kong arthouse romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by Wong Kar-wai. It stars Takeshi Kaneshiro, Brigitte Lin, Tony Leung, Valerie Chow, and Faye Wong.
