it's Oda's character, if someone understands him it's him and it's truly not a big deal not at all. it was just for the sake of a repeating bit. BUT. but. i genuinely got angry every time Sanji said his All Blue was the mermaids/the mermaids cafe, like whatever he's a loser and a pervert and he doesn't know how to behave around women, but why does he have to make the All Blue feel like it doesn't actually mean that much to him???? i know it's not that serious, but they make a point of Sanji's dream being ridiculed his whole life, it's not until Zeff that he finds someone to relate to and connect, they share the same goddamn dream. what happened to the little boy who defended with his whole life his dream? where is the nineteen year old who visibly lights up when he's given the chance to talk about the All Blue's wonders?
