“Babe, just because they’re purple and you like the color does not mean that the Blazy’s are better,” Eddie groaned for the umpteenth time, looking at the older man behind the smoke shop counter for a lifeline.

“They’re the same price as the RAW cones! You’re the one who said we should expand the market and try and get some new customers. I’m telling you, all of my friends would start buying from you if they were getting a purple preroll. Even better if it’s a purple preroll of the special dreaming blend that I came up with,” You smiled brightly, long, dark nails tapping excitedly on the glass countertop. “It’s a great marketing tactic.”

“Sweetheart—“

“She’s got a point, Eddie. The ladies love it when their shit is all pretty,” The shop owner snorted.

“Thank you, Dennis!” You motioned toward the man, rings clacking on the counter as your hand came to rest on top. “A little sexist, but correct. Please, Eddie?”

When Eddie looked back at you, you could see his eyes melt. “Fine. Give me two shorts, two regulars, and two kings.”

“One pink, one purple?”

“Yes please!” You reached up to kiss your boyfriend right on the apple of his cheek, leaving behind a black cherry-colored lipstick mark. “I promise it’ll be worth it. I’ll pinky swear on it.”

“You get your cones and your blend, that’s it,” His arm snaked around your waist, pulling you closer as he looked down at you pointedly. “That’s it. I’m not having you take over my business, alright?”

“Mhm. That’s it. Just those,” You confirmed, nodding your head. “Can you ring up a few of those fun little incense cones in a separate order, Dennis? I’m running out and I need some for my altar.”

“Will do, sweetie. Just don’t give your man any more trouble, alright?”

“On my life, I will not give him any more trouble.”

You swore up and down that you would stop at the cones and the special blend of weed and other herbs.

But then you found a pack of navy blue mesh bags covered in tiny stars that could comfortably fit half an ounce at the craft store. In the clearance aisle. For $2.99.

“Baby, you have got to be kidding me,” Eddie sighed, watching you come in the door, platform boots stomping excitedly as you bounded into the living room of your shared trailer, the bags clutched in your hands. “Don’t tell me those are what I think they are.”

“They are that exactly! Aren’t they cute? Look,” You swung yourself into his lap, legs hanging over the arm of the rocker he had been lounging in. His arm instinctively wrapped around you and rested on your hip, making sure you wouldn’t fall off. “They can fit at least half an ounce and still have room. Not to mention the amount of prerolls you can fit! And they tie super nicely so you can keep everything together!”

His head buried into the crook of your neck, his dramatic groaning rumbling against your skin. “You’re going to be the death of me.”

“Is that a yes? Please tell me that’s a yes,” You immediately get excited, dropping the bags into your lap and looping your arms around his drooping shoulders. “Have I told you I love you this afternoon? If not, I love you. I love you more than the sky and the sea and the moon and the stars—“

“Yes, angel, you’ve told me you love me more than I can count today,” He laughed sweetly, lifting his head to look at your expression. You could tell he was trying so hard to stand his ground, but the smile on his lips gave him away. “I can’t let you use the bags, though. It’ll ruin my reputation.”

“What, your reputation among college kids who invite you to every function even though you graduated two years early?” You joke, nodding toward his high school and college diplomas, which were framed above your fireplace. “What a thing to ruin!”

“Are you really going to bring up me graduating every chance you get?”

“Absolutely,” You kissed him sweetly, one hand smoothing over his hair. “My smart boy.”

“Okay, now you’re just buttering me up, you sap,” He ducked away, watching you cackle with a grin on his face. “How about we compromise?”

“A compromise?”

“Yes. You can make your fancy little prerolls with your mix and put them in your pretty little bags,” Your eyes widened, surprised that he was letting you do it that easily. “But, nothing else. No edibles, no flower, and none of the raw cones I’m still working through, okay?”

“I can work with that! It’s like a little side business! A partnership!”

“Yep. A partnership,” He tapped your hip and sat up slightly. “Let’s go get some stuff ready for later, alright? I’ve got to drop off to those monthly guys up in Chicago tonight.”

“Let me text some people and see if they want anything,” You got up off his lap, handing the bags off to him as he rose. “Can you put these at my seat while I go grab us some drinks?”

Eddie sighed heavily, rolling his eyes playfully. “Yes, sweetheart.”

“I love you, just a reminder!” You called as you left the room, a shit-eating grin on your face.

You ended up finding a few friends from college who lived in the city and wanted to try the new “dream bundles” as you called them. Each bundle was packaged with care and love, and Eddie watched endearingly as you meticulously packed each and every cone, lined them up in the bags, and even included some candies from your personal stash. The bags looked almost comical next to the brown bags that your boyfriend’s regular orders were in, but as you piled into his van, both his and your bags piled into one of your many tote bags, they looked perfect together.

He held your hand the whole two-hour drive into the city, a mixture of alternative rock and metal blaring through the speakers as you both sang along at the top of your lungs, a smile permanently etched into your lips. Eddie even let you be the one to run the bags up to each of his clients, watching with a lovesick smile and your favorite puppy dog eyes as each and every one of them smiled, happy to see you and your bubbly personality.

You practically skipped away from the final house of the night, grinning from ear to ear. You had sweet-talked the customer, a 6’3 and honestly terrifying security guard, into buying a couple of your special bundles for his girlfriend, who had waved at you from behind the open door.

With your empty tote bag swinging from your hand and your front pockets full of cash, you pranced up to Eddie, who leaned against the side of his van with a grin that could stop hearts on his face. Except, he was looking at you, who was the picture of joy.

“D’you see? I got him to buy three bundles! I told you they’d be a big seller,” You smiled brightly, chains jingling as you rocked back and forth on your heels. “He got them for his new girlfriend and he said he’d let you know how she likes them.”

“That’s great sweetheart,” He reached forward to pull you close and kiss your cheek. He watched you pull the big bills of cash out of your pocket, folded perfectly and all in the same direction and put it into his pocket instead. “We make a good team.”

“The best! You’ve gotta let me keep doing this, babe,” You pull your tote bag over your shoulder and loop your hands around his neck, stepping on the tiptoes of your boots. “They love me. And it’s so fun!”

Eddie chuckles and shakes his head. “What kind of influence am I, huh? Getting you to enjoy this whole thing?”

“The worst ever,” You hum, smiling at his almost drunk expression as he looked at you. “I think my parents would have a conniption if they knew what I was out doing right now.”

“Oh, what will I ever do if your parents find out that I’ve corrupted their precious angel?” He laid the sarcasm on thick, reveling at the giggle you let out as he smushed a kiss to the soft skin of your cheek. He pulled back after, pecked a quick kiss to your lips, and tapped your hip with the hand that held his car keys. “C’mon. Let’s get home and pack a bowl with some of that mix you’ve been selling. I wanna see what it’s all about.”

“Really?”

He stepped back and opened the passenger side door for you. “Really really.”

“Yes!” You celebrated, grabbing his face and smacking a kiss to his lips before you leaned down into your seat. “God, I love you.”

“I love you too, angel.”

University Life Mastodon TV Edit

One object edit after another. I just can't stop myself...

One time ago in ModTheSims' WCIF section someone was looking for the emptied version of the Mastodon TV from University Life, but at that time my PC was still broken I can't say I could do it. But now that it's working again and I'm in the mood for cc making here it is!

The TV is still functional with the clutter removed and the top shelf expanded with addition of 9 slots, still with four CAStable channels. Price: §400, found in Electronics>TVs. Polycount is pretty much lesser than in the original. Base game compatible.

**Known issues (read before downloading): warped mapping on the front edges of the shelf that is especially noticeable when horizontal patterns are used. Only use vertical patterns or solid colors with the first channel to hide the warp. *tried fixing it but this mesh is very difficult to remap sorry for the inconvenience 😥*

happy valentine's day!! i don't personally celebrate as it's my mum's birthday more than anything, but you know what your sims absolutely need to give their beloveds this year? this. 🐸

anon requested the frog chair by @vroshii as a dining chair ages ago, but i saw an opportunity to expand and make it a toddler chair too, plus a barstool!

i ended up tweaking the prices as i don't think most of my families can afford them, so now the barstool and dining chair are $144, and the toddler chair is about half of that. the barstool and toddler chair work as addons, so they're repo'd to the dining chair.

also, yes, the toddler chair works, as shown below. we don't discriminate against toddlers here!

Functional Apparel Objects Apparel objects are debug items and show up as “clothing pile” in the catalog (Misc > Dressers). They must be placed on one of the DEBUG displays/shelves or they’ll float. Once purchased, take them out of the sim’s inventory and choose from one of the following: Purchase Clothing. Select an outfit (or several) of any type. Each apparel object is worth §100 towards the TOTAL cost. Sims save more money (and your businesses make more money) if they use one apparel object per new outfit. Sell. Recycle the object for §100 simoleons.  If you exit the Buy Clothing window without adding anything to your shopping cart, §100 will be added to the sim’s household funds instead. Apparel objects are worth §100 regardless of how much sims pay for them on OFB/community lots. Quick and dirty review time!

My boot problem has been solved thanks to the wonders of Facebook groups. I found a seller with not one, but TWO pairs of Ariat boots in my size, BRAND NEW that they were selling for half of retail. So, I grabbed them both. I've only had them for a week, so here is my quick first impressions, because despite them being the exact same size, they fit very differently.

The first pair are the Ariat Kinsley dress boots. These are very much a typical "sock leather" type boot. I broke the zipper pull on one of the boots the first time I went to try them on, oops, but $30 later it has a new, much heavier duty zipper pull on it.

They are a little baggy around the back of my calf, but this is a problem I tend to have with a lot of boots. I don't so much need an XW calf in most boots for my calf itself, I need it for the area directly behind my knees. Because they are a thinner leather, they will likely be my showing, clinicing, and lessoning boots. The second pair are the Ariat V Sport boots. I have wanted a pair of these for a few years but could never seem to get my act together on buying them. I LOVE these. They fit my leg like a glove. None of the baggy behind the calf issue. If it weren't for the textured leather on the outer shaft, I might even show in them. They also have a thick, but soft leather on the inside panel that makes me hope that they will hold up to a lot of hours schooling in the saddle.

My only complaint with these is the footbed is very narrow. I am hoping that will break-in and loosen up with time and use, but the Kinsley boots had a much wider footbed right out of the box that was much more comfortable.

During the Black Friday sales I picked up the Collegiate ComfiTech Vogue bridle. A tack shop I stumbled across had it on clearance, and then let me stack their 20% off code on top of the clearance price. I have been low-key-no-key looking for a non-crank bridle for Sydney, so I decided to give this one a try.

For the price point I am pleasantly surprised with the leather quality. It's very supple out of the box, and with some leather conditioner I think it could be quite lovely. Unfortunately, I ran into a few issues with this bridle for Sydney specifically. First off, the buckle for the flash wanted to lay directly on her lips. You can see it does the same thing on the model horse as well.

This is really poor design, and I did not notice this when I was buying the bridle, or I would have passed on it entirely. The flash is fixed, so I can't slide the buckle into a better position. The other issue is that these bridles seem to run absolutely massive. I was basically on the last hole with the noseband, and I still couldn't get it to sit quite right on her face. She does have a very short face for a draft cross though. So, this was a fail for me, but hopefully somebody else will be able to use it.

Finally, I have to talk about my new favorite brand of gloves, Kunkle. I was first introduced to them 2-ish years ago when I showed up at a show without my gloves. At that time they were only offering black, mesh backed gloves, but those gloves almost immediately became my new favorite gloves. At the end of the show I went back to the tack trailer and bought another pair for schooling. During my last trip to the tack shop I discovered that they have vastly expanded their offering to include non-mesh gloves and winter gloves, of which I picked up a pair of each. Their gloves run $40 - $50, and honestly have a lot of the same good feel and quality of Roeckl, which I believe start at $60 and go on up from there. I own a LOT of pairs of Roeckl gloves, and most of them are on their last legs, so I am slowly going to be replacing them with these Kunkle gloves instead.

NUMBER 30!! Take #2. TALK TO ME ABOUT the Caelus/Kafka dynamic. :)

SO. Exactly where do we begin with this?

I've had my good share of time not only to reflect from our convos, but on top of that, have my own perspective generated from just going over the contents of how they hung out in the game. What's shared between the two of them is a particular sort of bond. One forged by belief, through longing and desires for the truth, not to mention how there's a genuine sense of care shared between them.

To expand more upon Caelus's position, there's so much range that could be picked, and due to the choices alone you could infer that something managed to remain during his revival. Even if the world as it stands is ultimately against her, making her one of the highest bounties in the universe, how the angle of crook, villain and a potential ender of all things come into play?

He really doesn't care. The narrative that should be followed is drawn out, that this is an enemy, people in the Express are uncomfortable by her mere presence and the Steallron Hunters at large.

So how is it during the quiet moments we see this.

What he follows is the companionship, the closeness that he can feel but also holds the frustration that the full picture isn't there. Truth be told? It really isn't all that different if you were to screw around with Kafka during the awakening scene?

They hold a history, one that's valued from their respective ends, for their respective reasons, and the importance of that can be explored depending on how you play the responses. Yet, I want the notes to be taken here, how there's a genuine stir of concerned discomfort. Silver Wolf's words in particular unabashedly striking that chord that this actually hurts. What I inferred from this is that through this process of Caelus's return, the truly important perspectives would remain through his will.

Kafka I imagine is someone who holds faith in what the Trailblazer's adventure expands out to do. While we could easily say that 'why wouldn't she?? Elio sure as hell never been off the radar in his foresight.' I want to take into account one detail she wanted to ensure was ingrained, that she took the care to not HYPNOTIZE or use in suggestion, but to steady their soul knowing that he was flowing in and out of consciousness.

An angle I see her genuinely believing in, one she finds herself willing to actively gamble on while in pursuit of her own ambitions.

This leads me to believe this isn't a motion of her guiding him by saying this, rather, she's reinstating a belief that was always held true at the core of his heart. It was a means to ensure that what composed him during his recreation was never fully lost. The loss of memory, having it kept as a border for the material angle despite how their hearts likely already know, I believe this needs to be given a deeper line of emphasis. The world can be against her, so can his companions, atrocities can be made in her name, but it truly doesn't change the choice that he intends to stick by her side, even at the great distances.

So in terms of how I see their dynamic? I believe it's a mesh of accepting what happened, continuing on from where they last left off. The pains shared from having the knowledge, not knowing, and seeing this as a barrier in their relationship will just have to be stomached. It's a price worth taking while getting everything kicked back into motion.

To summarize? They really do care about each other. Just as I mentioned in an old HC here, he didn't need a reason outside of her being in a genuine pinch to be willing to burn his repute within the Xianzhou to the ground. Actively going against Yanqing at that moment could've seamlessly solidified that. In kind, Kafka taking the charge to ensure it doesn't go that far, saying she's using her Spirit Whisper ability, but allowing Caelus to fully and consciously slide with that choice to knock him out in that moment.

I for one, refuse to have this slept on! Whether you ship it or you do not, instances like these aren't just made 'for fun', it's giving hints to a history shared and actually reveal just how important they are to each other.

It was kinda easy to see why Scar liked these little trips to the markets. Up here there was no Ekko, no crying babies and  they got first dibs on whatever they picked up to bring back. Those weren’t the reasons Jinx had for attaching herself to Scar’s routine, but they meshed together nicely. Browsing the markets offered the chance to pick up things that were hard to get hold of at the Firelight base. Looking for a tool to use on a tinkering project? Shopping trip with Scar. It was a win-win. No trespassing or stealing Firelight equipment meant fewer people could get mad at you, and you didn’t need to return the gadget when you were done! Admittedly, building a stash was a game that came with a growing level of challenge. Scar and the others were pretty sharp, but that just kept things interesting. 

Practicing a solid disguise was another fun part of these trips. With half of The Lanes frothing at the mouth to turn in Jinx for their hefty cash prize, it was important to remain hidden. The most bittersweet privilege was getting to see the state of The Lanes- to catch the ripples of Silco’s death in action. Who was selling Shimmer in the crowds? Whose territory had expanded or changed hands? Seeing the streets through the eyes of a Firelight was definitely different to walking it as Jinx. People respected Jinx. People feared Jinx. People did what Jinx said…or they had, at least when Silco was around. Now walking through the bustling markets felt like a perpetual game of hide and seek. 

Today’s trip was boring. All of the good market stalls were blocks away and Scar’s painfully sensible shopping list had them stuck here, looking at meat and listening to vendors justifying their prices with talk of taxes and shipping routes. There wasn’t even anything good to steal here. She’d have stolen something boring just for the challenge if most of the items in reach weren’t chunks of raw fish. 

From the right of the stall, the crowd began to melt seamlessly away, forming some kind of invisible path. At the sight of it, Jinx fell dangerously still. It wasn’t any different to how Sevika had patrolled the same block months ago, but the sight of her filled Jinx with a silent, incandescent rage. 

All of this was Sevika’s fault. 

Traitor. Murderer.

Had Sevika used the blade in her arm to do it? The blade that Silco gave her? 

The invisible fire in Jinx’s chest roared to life, growing as it touched upon each and every raw wound. Suddenly, nothing else seemed to matter. It didn’t feel like there were hundreds of people clustered around them. It didn’t feel like Sevika’s goons were at her shoulders. The hissing, babbling static joined the noise of the crowd, sizzling meat and carts. Silco would want her to do this. She was certain of it. Silco needed her to do this. She hadn’t killed Sevika on the day it happened but she could now. She could. 

Jinx moved. 

Action and purpose drowned out Mylo’s garbled words. 

Shut up. Shut up. Shut up!

I need to do this. 

I have to. 

I can make it right. 

A fluid brush of fingers plucked a pistol from a passerby’s belt as Jinx disappeared into the crowd. One bullet would do the trick. Sevika deserved thousands, but who knew when the next chance would present itself? Jinx wasn’t going to wait. She’d empty as many bullets as she could into the ogre before someone else shot her down. By then, it wouldn’t even matter. So long as Sevika was gone too. 

It was pretty easy to part a crowd with an exposed weapon. Good. That would make for a nice clean shot on Sevika. Jinx’s steps quickened as she snaked through people, sensing the rush of someone at her back. Mid-step, the sensation of a large hand wrenched the barrel of the gun towards the floor, grinding Jinx’s war-path to a halt. 

"Stop. Don't start shit."

The familiar rumble of Scar’s voice reminded Jinx that she wasn’t alone. 

Pale fingers tightened around the pistol’s grip. 

Tearing her eyes away from Sevika felt like abandoning Silco all over again. It felt like letting Sevika win. It hurt. It made Jinx angry. 

Cold eyes fixed Scar in a baleful stare. Now it felt like there were only three people in the marketplace: Jinx, Sevika and the person in the way. Being in the way was almost as bad as being Sevika. Did Scar think he could tell Jinx what to do? Would he make her? Did he think she would listen the same way she did when she chose to oblige his stupid rules? She wasn’t trying to please him now. She didn’t need to pretend to be his friend anymore. What Silco wanted mattered most. Silco wanted the Firelights dead too, had Scar forgotten? 

The resistance of Scar’s grip kept the weapon low and with his additional handful of seconds, he filled the space ahead of Jinx, blocking both sight and access to Sevika. Jinx’s jaw hardened. Fine. 

Taking no pains to resist the force keeping the gun down, Jinx twisted her wrist, pressing the barrel against Scar’s kneecap. Her finger teased the trigger, imagining the noise it would make when the bone shattered. 

Scar wasn’t a friend. Scar was an obstacle. She wasn’t going to let Silco down again. Not for Scar.
