somi dealing with an angry chanyeol
[thanks to the anon who requested this! 💙]
masterlist 🌻 requests are open feedback is always important to me!
"I told you a thousand times, it was not my fault."
Somi's voice called Suho and Baekhyun's attention from the kitchen.
"You took my car telling you would be going to the market and now I don't have a car anymore!" Chanyeol argued, literally throwing his shoes before laying on the couch.
"What happened?" Suho asked frowning.
"I wa-" Somi was interrupted by Chanyeol.
"The little princess here," he pointed his finger at Somi that crossed her arms and arched an eyebrow at him. "asked me if she could drive my car because she had to go to the market to buy some crap-"
"Shampoo." she interrupted him.
"Crap." he empathised. "But according to her a woman crashed into my car. Right in the middle."
"Oh my God," Baekhyun said going towards Somi. "are you okay? Did you hurt anything?"
"Wait, did you call the police?" Suho asked still trying to completely get the situation.
"My manager is working everything out." she said caressing her neck. "As I wasn't the guilty one, I was released after that breathalyzer test."
"If she's not hurt and it wasn't her fault why are you mad?" Baekhyun said playfully pocking Chanyeol's cheeks and the boy hissed.
"That's my car." he said obviously. "I worked my ass to get that car so she touches it for like, twenty minutes, and boom..." he made an explosion sign with his hands and Somi rolled her eyes. "Break it."
"Why didn't you tell us when you left?" Suho contested, still not completely convinced.
"Because she said it wasn't that bad."
"And it wasn't! Listen, I am the one paying, the car will be ready in one week, you can use mine in the mid-time." Somi tried to at least, make Chanyeol a little less angry.
"I'm not using your car. I have a clear sense of what is mine and what isn't." he mumbled and she grasped.
"Oh, fuck." Baekhyun grumbled.
"I asked you before Chanyeol." she let out.
"You crashed my car!"
"Calm down, guys." Suho tried to negotiate with the two. "Did anyone saw or recognised you?"
"The woman was a sasaeng, of course she knew whose the car was and that I'd be driving it." Somi confessed annoyed by all that justifications.
"A SASAENG?" Baekhyun exclaimed and then turned at Chanyeol again. "You're mad at her because a sasaeng crashed into your car? I could've been you."
Somi ran her hand on her neck once again, feeling the unstoppable discomfort. Her chest - or better saying, where the belt used to be - was also hurting and she knew that by the morning, she'd have some bruises.
"You guys really don't understand me." Chanyeol said getting up and going to his room. "I need a car for the week." he announced before slamming the door behind him.
Somi puffed and rolled her eyes again.
"Ugh, how can someone be this difficult?" she said going to the opposite direction, where her room - Minseok's former room - was.
She placed all the documents the police gave her in her nightstand before taking her clothes off. The reality of what happened hit her at once and, when she saw the scratches and the mark that the safety belt had made on her chest, she involuntary started to cry.
Somi waited until the water was hot enough and started to shower groaning every time the water ran on the wounds. When she finished her bath, she put on the most comfy pyjamas she had, brushed her hair and tried to recompose herself.
She trusted that her manager would make all he could to manage the situation and that it wasn't her fault but she hated to make anyone mad, even if this someone is Chanyeol. Plus, the pain on her neck was not helping at all. Somi turned the TV on and tucked herself under her thick purple duvet and decided to calm herself.
She didn't even realise when Chanyeol opened the door.
"Somi~ssi?" he asked, probably trying to find where the girl was. She only popped her hand out of the duvet. "What are you doing?"
"Go away Chanyeol..." she complained.
"Oh, are you crying? " she felt the bed slightly bouncing and he sat close to her, trying to pull down the duvet. "Talk to me Somi, please, please, please."
"What?" she groaned finally showing her face.
"Why are you crying?" Chanyeol asked, half worried and half annoyed.
"My neck hurts." she confessed.
"What?" his eyes widened. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"You were screaming about your car all the way back home." she cried.
"But if you're hurt you must tell me. Do you want to go to the hospital?"
"No, the paramedics told it wasn't nothing serious just the impact." she explained. "But it still hurts."
"Aigoo..." he mumbled, laying next to her and covering himself with her duvet. He opened his arms and Somi automatically settled down on his chest. "I'm sorry, you should have warned me. I'm such a stupid man."
"Yes, you are." she agreed lightly nodding. "I'm sorry, oppa. I didn't mean to break your car."
"It's okay. It wasn't your fault anyway." he mumbled.
Somi let her fatigue overwhelm her and, little by little, she felt her eyes close until she was completely asleep.
"YA LOSERS DINNER IS-" Baekhyun stopped when he saw Chanyeol and Somi hugging each other while sleeping. "Hyung, come here." he called Suho.
"Did they kill each other?" Suho asked and puffed. When he saw the two, he looked at Baekhyun again and shrugged. "I mean, at least there'll be more pasta for us."

ZHANG YIXING FAN FICTION (Cap. 2 ) - 6982 Miles
E olhe, quando for, vamos, e pronto. “
“ Mas eu não a quero ver assim. Vai ver que corre tudo bem! Vamos conhecer pessoas novas, sítios novos. A China é muito legal ! E você sempre pode seguir Medicina Tradicional Chinesa. “
“ Isso é muito complicado. “
“ Sim!
“ E que idade tem? “
“ 26. “
“ Mãe, eu tenho 19. “
“ E? Eu do vosso pai, temos 10 anos de diferença. “

paracetamol - bbh
Characters: Baekhyun x Reader
Genre: Romance, slight angst and fluff
Au!s: Single dad au, best friends au
Sypnosys: Baekhyun, a bright, kind and beautiful person inside out, had always found himself strong enough to carry everything on his own sturdy shoulders. But as his daughter one day finds him in the middle of a breakdown, he admits that perhaps, he's not completely fine- and not as strong as he thought. Baekhyun, a twenty-eight-year-old single dad that finds himself struggling to raise his daughter, gets a proposal from his bestfriend to finally start letting in new people in his life, meeting women on dates you had set him up with. But just as things fall into place- they fall apart on the other side.
Making him realize that he had been trying to build the wrong puzzle all along.
Making you realize that the puzzle you were making him build was one you wouldn't be a piece of. One you couldn't help him build anymore.
If you took two paracetamol pills from 500mg, would it be the same as 1000mg? Would they ever be enough to ease the ache in your chest?
"Beware of butterflies, they'll break your heart."
Was it the extremely lonely moon that had smitten him with its melancholy? Or perhaps the gentle rain tapping onto the window, inducing him to feel just as small, just as vulnerable. The tears welling up in Baekhyun's eyes were small but full of sorrow. A sorrow that controlled his voice into subtle cries that he so wanted to swallow back down his throat, a sorrow that made his body tremble.
Baekhyun was someone that always smiled, for the people around him, for himself, for his daughter. As bright as the sun, he was. Cheerful like the summer, he was. He was organized and had everything under control.
But for tonight, he couldn't control his emotions. As much as he wanted to stop crying and be stronger, the sudden wave of overwhelming feelings had unexpectedly come crashing down upon him. Until now, Baekhyun had always done his best to be the greatest version of himself, so that he could give his only daughter the best life, even without a mother. In fact, he had to say, things had gone surprisingly well and nothing like what he had imagined when his lover had suddenly left him and their daughter without notice, without explanations. It would've been a lie if he said he hadn't gone through a harsh period where he'd constantly be tested by depression, loneliness, and hopelessness. But he had had his sources of light. His daughter that day by day grew so quickly yet beautifully, had always been was what drove him forward, what prevented him from giving up so many times. And then there had been you. You and your endless will to help him with his needs as a single dad, your strengthening friendship, and your comforting smiles.
Despite the hardships he had faced, Baekhyun always considered himself extremely blessed, for he had a beautiful daughter that he truly, loved with his whole being- a daughter that solely could bring him so much happiness to last for an eternity. A loving family and precious friends that took care of him, and he took care of them. With all of these things, he would never allow himself to feel sad, broken, or lonely. It felt extremely wrong and ungrateful. Baekhyun could just not accept the fact that he too, was not endlessly strong. Just like everybody else, he had a breaking point. Now, he had finally reached it.
The twenty-nine-year-old man did not hear the little girl silently pushing his door that had been ajar, open. There would be times where his daughter wouldn't be able to sleep and seek for her dad, and she was so tiny, so he would purposely never close the door completely so that she could come in without hinders. Standing on her tippy toes, she took tiny steps to the king-sized bed that really, wasn't too big, but looked immense in her tired eyes. A little clumsily, she climbed onto the bed and plopped down next to Baekhyun, tugging gently at the sleeve of his pajamas while rubbing her eye with the other hand. Shocked to be caught in such a vulnerable moment, Baekhyun almost jumped away from the child but visibly relaxed when he saw her.
"S-sweetheart, what are you doing here?" His trembling voice gave him away, but he didn't think that his daughter would catch on it. He was wrong, for before she could even think about answering, she had already noticed the salty stains of his tears reflecting in the moonlight. The little girl almost tripped when standing up, but stubbornly caught her balance again before walking to stand in front of her father.
"Why is daddy crying?" Came her small voice, full of concern, "Did you have a nightmare?" Her arms were stretched towards him, she obviously wanted to throw them around his neck, but they were too short. The sight melted Baekhyun's heart instantly and without making her wait, he pulled her onto his lap. She hadn't been too far from right when she mentioned a nightmare, although he had been awake, the painful feelings chasing his sleep away certainly felt like one.
"Dad is okay, don't worry, hmm?" Baekhyun made sure to sound the sweetest so that he wouldn't worry her, but sometimes he underestimated the maturity of his daughter. Sure, she was still incredibly young, but every day she showed him how intelligent she was, understanding many things right away. A confused frown made its way on his face when all she did was puff her rosy cheeks with air, a bit annoyed, for that matter.
"Daddy, you not so good at lying, you know?" Once again, he was to be astonished by his own daughter. The incredulous expression on her soft features alone was able to make him forget about his anxieties. He had no idea how to respond to that, much less to the way she had started looking at him so intently. He felt slightly awkward when her chocolate brown eyes that resembled his moved all over his face for a good minute. Soon enough though, a hint of hesitation began polling within them as she started fidgeting nervously with her tiny, chubby fingers.
"Are you missing mommy?" Her voice had been so small, almost inaudible when asking the question, always afraid that the topic would sadden Baekhyun further. Early in her life, she had learned that she was slightly different from the other children because she did not have a mother. At first, it had been hard to digest the fact that everybody she knew had a mother except for her...But it did not last long, she had immensely shocked Baekhyun when she with her slightly broken language told him that she didn't mind after all, since he had always been there and it was enough.
Baekhyun vigorously shook his head at the question. What happened had by now taken place a long time ago and you could say that Baekhyun had learned to accept the way his story with the mother of his daughter had ended. He taught himself that it would never be worth it to hurt for someone who after all, did not love them enough to stay. The feelings of sorrow and heartbreak in her regards had with time morphed into something a loving person like Baekhyun would not usually carry in his heart. Rage. In fact, there would be moments when in his thoughts, he'd go back to all the good times lived together until he reached the abrupt end, and despite himself, he couldn't help but feel so angered, so disappointed. Wondering whether he had never been enough to her? And their daughter? Hadn't she meant anything for her to leave like that? What hurt the most was knowing that none of these questions were ever going to be answered. Though maybe, it was better that way. He had let it go, so there was no reason for him to reminisce about it. Sometimes though, he couldn't help it.
He brought a hand to brush the wild locks of his daughter away from her face, adoringly cupping her soft, soft cheek. "Do you? Are you sad?" He murmured, searching for an answer in her demeanor, but it was not needed because just like he had, she shook her head fervently.
"No, daddy is all I need." Sparkling adoration reflected on her face while from Baekhyun's eyes dripped honey as his lips curled in the happiest smile. A certain feeling bloomed within his chest, as if there were two hearts swelling next to each other, a kind of love and adoration that would steal his breath away. Swiftly, he put two hands underneath each of her armpits and lifted her up slightly, bringing her closer. Excited gurgles were echoing in the walls at the sudden move. He pressed a chaste kiss to her tiny lips and hugged the child to his chest, to which she happily snuggled into.
"You're my angel. Dad is so lucky to have you, you know that right?" She could only nod on his chest, her tiny fingers tightened around his shirt.
"Can I sleep here with dad?" Her head tilted upward to steal a glance at the male. Despite the sleep threatening to take over, for her, he pulled the brightest smile he could muster. Placing another kiss on the crown of her hair, he whispered a gentle; "Of course honey."
---
The clock was nearing noon when you got a text from Baekhyun asking you to pick up his daughter from kindergarten since he would be late. A smile instantly crossed your lips upon seeing the name of his contact, but also because you couldn't wait to see the baby girl again. She was the brightest ray of sun and her smile would always succeed to melt you into a puddle, not to mention the affection she held for you, it made you feel so extremely blessed to have the trust of such a gleeful child. The excitement was buzzing through your veins and you were hurrying to the destination, impatient to see what Sarang's reaction would be upon having you surprising her. She didn't know that it would be you to pick her up, and any time you had done it this way, her happy shrieks had always filled the playground.
It wasn't much different this time either. When Sarang saw you walking through the gates of her kindergarten, your name had been shrieked from the top of her lungs and before you had even known it, her short arms were circling your leg for a hug. You neither could help the endeared chuckles leaving your lips as you crouched down to her level so that you could bring her into your arms. "And how is my princess doing?" You cooed excitedly while the two of you went to get her things.
"Good!" She exclaimed, though the bright smile soon died down and was replaced by a frown on her lips. "But daddy has been a bit sad," Sarang revealed, the concern for her father was extremely obvious on her soft features.
"Yeah? What has happened to dad, hm?" You were to be disappointed when the girl only shrugged her small shoulders. Usually, you would know better than to worry over things children would say, though Sarang, was extremely mature for her age. Something truly wasn't right if it worried her. "Will you help him?"She suddenly said, begging you with her glossy eyes that prompted you to plant a reassuring kiss on her head. "Of course," You said, "Best friend on a mission!" You formed your hand into a fist and brought it forward as if you were superman, sprinting the way to your car, happy to hear Sarang giggling at the thrilling feeling of the wind against her face.
You had only started parking when Sarang had already begun begging you to let her unlock the door herself since she found it so incredibly fun and fascinating to insert the key into the lock and twist it. With a grin on your face, you fished out the extra pair of keys to their home that Baekhyun had given you from the very start and handed them to her. The metallic gadgets noisily dangled from her fingers while she skipped her way to the front door, bouncing excitedly on her feet when waiting for you so that you could lift her up, she wasn't tall enough after all.
By now, you had spent so much time with Baekhyun and Sarang that you had basically seen her grow, and that meant that you also knew what her routines were every day. Grabbing the sweet flavored yogurt from the fridge together with some fruits, you made her an afternoon snack that would later do its magic on sending her into napping mode. Half an hour later, the little girl was falling into a peaceful slumber, scrambled on the couch while her favorite cartoon played in the background. You couldn't help the smile crossing your lips. She was utterly adorable. With the soft sneers leaving her pouty lips and her long eyelashes casting a long shadow down her rosy cheeks. Ever so carefully, you picked her up in your embrace and almost melted when she automatically nuzzled her face into your neck, fisting your shirt with her little hand. You wouldn't have minded having her nap huddled in your embrace like that, but you found it better for Sarang to sleep on an actual, comfortable bed. So that was where you brought her; to her bedroom, tucked safely in the comfort of her fluffy pink sheets.
An hour had finally passed, and somehow it had felt way slower than it should've, but you figured that it was probably because you had spent it doing absolutely nothing, in a house that wasn't yours. To your relief though, you heard the lock to the door click open and shuffling footsteps entered the apartment. There was no doubt of who it was, without exaggerations, you would always know when it was him. Even the pattern of his footsteps was recognizable to you.
You left the couch to greet him and as soon as you were visible, he discarded the exhausted look from his face, just so that he could warm you up with his smile. The action tugged a tiny part of your chest, he was back from an extremely long day at work and the dark circles underneath his eyes were revealing it all. But nonetheless, he found it more important to make you comfortable with a smile rather than letting you see his exhaustion. In all honestly, you weren't sure whether to find that admirable or scold him because he was putting too much pressure on himself all the time.
"Com' here," You chimed knowingly, gesturing for him to follow you. The man trailed with small footsteps behind you as if a puppy, silently obeying when you gestured for him to sit on the couch while you walked around it. A thankful sigh pushed past his lips when your fingers gently dug into his shoulders, melting the tensing knots underneath his skin that had built during the day.
"How are you?" You murmured, genuinely wanting to know about his day, about his feelings. Whenever you'd ask him this, it would never be out of courtesy. There was just something about Baekhyun's soft, soothing voice telling you about his adventures that made you want to listen to every single word he had to say. But today, your motive was different. As your hands massaged his shoulders, Sarang's words echoed in your head, making you wonder whether Baekhyun would ever feel comfortable enough to talk about it with you. The question was answered by the defeated sigh he let out when throwing his head back against the couch, the crown of his head coming to contact with your abdomen. The gel that had been brushed through his locks was now worn off, barely holding together the wildness of his hair, which only made your fingers painfully long to thread through those chocolate strands of his. Baekhyun's eyes were shut close in exhaustion as he forced himself to speak through the tiredness.
"Sarang caught me in the middle of a breakdown." He confirmed what the little girl had told you earlier, and although the tone in his voice was merely a breathy whisper, you still caught onto the disappointment he felt towards himself. Knowing the man, he was probably considering himself a failure for letting his daughter see him in such a vulnerable state.
"A father is supposed to be a strong figure in their child's eyes, someone who can be strong enough to support them whenever someone who is wise. And yet here I am, failing miserably." Dejection coated his words as he let out the burdens weighing down on his heart. His gentle and fragile heart that had been wounded so deeply. "What do I even do?" He exasperated, "I want to give her everything. I want her to feel safe. I want to give her the mother she has a right to, the peaceful and happy childhood she deserves. But things are just so damn complicated, I-" His breath got caught in his lungs when feeling a familiar overwhelmedness of emotions threatening to crush him.
"How am I going to handle all of that?" It physically pained you to see Baekhyun in such a despaired state. Solely the way he was leaning his elbows onto his knees, stressfully hiding his face in his palm radiated such an amount of anxiousness that could've made you fall into the same pit of darkness just by looking at him. Baekhyun had been there for you every time you had needed him. You were not going to let him down.
Not a second was wasted and by the time he blinked, you were already there next to him. Fingertips running soothingly through his hair while your other hand guided his head to rest on your soft chest, to which he complied immediately. A content yet trembling whimper left his lips at the warmth and comfort of your embrace, his nose traced its way to the crook of your neck where he could inhale the sweetness of your perfume mixed with fabric softener.
"I don't want to be so vulnerable. I'm sorry you're always here to witness me being so weak." Again, Baekhyun couldn't help but resent himself for his overflowing flaws and imperfections he couldn't get a hold of no matter what. "No, don't say that Baekhyun. I'm thankful to be able to be the one helping you in any kind of situation." Perhaps you had let on too much? But this was what you felt. As his best friend, just the thoughts of him being comforted by someone else would spark some kind of jealousy within you, because you wanted to be the one to anchor him at any time.
"Maybe it's time that you start letting new people into your life again?" You pondered out loud while your fingers twirled around Baekhyun's satin-like curly brown locks, earning nothing but a frustrated groan. "Minseok's been saying that for weeks, to try dating and all that." By the irritated undertone in his voice, you could tell that he was indeed not keen on letting new females in his life yet.
"I've been considering it, but I don't want this to turn into Sarang feeling neglected either," Baekhyun expressed his worries while lifting his head from your chest so that he could look at you instead, letting you view the worry swimming in his dark pools.
"It doesn't have to turn out like that, I'll be with Sarang whenever it's needed," You suggested, giving his cheek a gentle caress. With a sigh, he leaned into your touch. "You shouldn't have to do that as often as you already do, she's my responsibility, not yours."
"Baek, you also deserve to find your happiness." At that, all he did was bit his lips, the war in his head visible from his troubled orbs. "Everything will be okay," You assured, "I'll find some impeccable dates for you and we'll start simply, hm? How does that sound?"The male contemplated your proposal with a skeptical look on his face which made you roll your eyes dramatically.
"Oh stop it, you can trust me!"
"Fine, fine."
***
"Wow! Daddy so handsom!!" Came Sarang's high pitched gurgle at the view of her father. You had to second her on that. With his curls resting on his forehead in such a youthful way, the light jeans and the collar of a button-up peeking from the sweater made him look absolutely irresistible. With a chuckle, baekhyun kneeled down to pick the girl up, resting her comfortably on his hip and placing the sweetest kiss on her temple, making you almost squeal out loudly at the view. "Really?" he chimed sweetly, earning a few excited nods, to which he laughed.
"Thank you, princess." Although the fondness in his voice as he spoke to his daughter, the nervousness and distress were limpidly reflecting in his orbs, and you found yourself softening before him, you found absolutely no reason for him to feel all the worry he was feeling.
"Be confident Baekhyun," You said once he'd put Sarang down, letting her run off to play. "You're such a handsome and charming man, with beautiful qualities. You have it all." You murmured with so much adoration and sincerity, maybe even too much because your heart had started swelling in your chest upon speaking such words. The fact that you would always know what he was feeling before him saying it first would never stop astonishing him. Relief washed over his features and he allowed himself to step a little closer. For a second, you thought you had forgotten how to breathe, when his lips had caressed ever so gently to your cheek, pressing one or two kisses before leaning back and eyeing you with a heartbreaking smile that neither you could run away unaffected from, while breathing the sweetest "Thank you," you had ever had directed towards yourself.
After one last brief goodbye, which was the thirteenth as well, he finally left the apartment, leaving you to sigh heavily and praying in your mind that everything could go well. That he wouldn't close himself if the first tries wouldn't work out. You knew that Baekhyun could turn out to be very sensitive after what had happened to him. While keeping him in your mind, you called out of Sarang, and the little girl appeared soon, giggling and smiling she jumped in your arms. "Shall we start our ladies' night!?" You cooed excitedly, prompting her to squeal and gesticulate enthusiastically, her happy antics would never fail to put your worries at bay, spreading nothing but warmth in your chest. The Barbie movie she adored so much had just started playing when she suddenly turned in her embrace, curiosity shining in her droopy eyes that were just like his. You quirked a questioning eyebrow and Sarang let out a small giggle, "Is daddy going to fall in love?" the thought of her dad going out to 'fall in love' as her sweet innocence made her see it, seemed to excite her a lot. A soft smile fell on your lips as a hand caressed her soft tresses gently. "Hopefully," You replied, only thinking that it would be beautiful if he could fall in love, it would be amazing if love didn't come with pain.
It really would be. And you hoped that for Baekhyun who deserved it more than anyone else.
30 minutes into the third movie was when you finally felt your eyes getting droopy. Initially, you had tried making the baby girl go to sleep already after the second movie, but she had insisted to stay awake until her daddy came back and wouldn't take a no for an answer. Until a few moments ago, she had been bouncing like an energetic bunny and you couldn't understand how she had all of that energy when you hadn't even given her any sweets yet. Though now, it seemed as if her body was slowly giving in to the tiredness, but obviously enough, she fought it as hard as she could to finish watching the romantic animated film. You suppressed the laugh at her funny expression, flushed chubby cheeks and brows arched into a frown, her eyes glaring really intensely at the huge TV screen as if it would chase her sleepiness away.
But you ended up being no better as you had ended up falling asleep with her on the couch. Her little body in a fetal position as she had in her sleep snuggled into your laying body. Sarang's head rested on your chest while her tiny fists grabbed onto the hoody enveloping your body, its scent was bound to make her lean closer into it. In fact, it wasn't even yours, you hadn't been able to find a darn blanket in the whole house, and Sarang had been of no help either, but you couldn't blame the girl for not knowing where her dad hid things. And that was why you had stolen one from his closet, choosing the biggest out of them all, knowing that Baekhyun would probably not mind you doing that.
You did not know for how long you had been asleep when you were suddenly woken up by feeling Sarang being lifted from next to you. A loud gasp left your lips as you sat up abruptly, looking around frantically, your mind still numb because of the sleep.
"Hey, shh, it's me," Came a hushed whisper to which you recognized the voice. A gentle hand placed itself on your cheek, turning you to look in their direction. Your eyes were still wide with shock as you eyed the Baekhyun who was currently pressing his lips into a thin line so that he wouldn't let out the laugh in his throat and wake up Sarang. The mischievousness was a permanent glint in his eyes as he then patted down your wild locks.
"Go back to sleep, it's okay," He said with a smirk on his face although his voice was nothing but soothing and gentle. When he saw that you still wouldn't budge from your current position, he shifted the sleeping Sarang slightly in his embrace, reaching out with his hand to your shoulder, pushing you gently to lay back down. "Sleep," He murmured one last time while his hand had traveled from your shoulder to give your cheek that was by now, flushed by the hot temperature, a soft caress that induced your heavy eyelids to droop back close. All you could really decipher at that moment was the question swirling in your head, wondering whether you were going to remember these few interactions tomorrow morning.

The sound of your name being called by an angel-like voice reached your ears, though, you were pretty sure it was part of the beautiful dream you were having while basking in the warmth of the sun-rays peeking from the curtains, but most of all, completely immersed in a familiar scent, a homely and ridiculously good one. It wasn't yours, and at the moment you had no idea who it might've belonged to but you knew, in your state of sleepiness that you didn't want to get out of it. Eventually, you were forced out of your sleep when you were shaken awake. You had difficulty opening your heavy eyes but it soon passed when the first thing you saw was his almond-shaped, droopy eyes gazing down at you. It was when a soft smile crept on his lips that you finally realized how you weren't in your own bed, nor the couch you had fallen asleep on yesterday. Mainly, that the sweet, comforting scent you had been engulfed in this time not only derived from the oversized hoody you were wearing but from the fluffy white sheets surrounding you on the king-sized bed you could've only wished you could ever afford.
"Baek," You sleepily whined with disbelief while rubbing the sleep out of your eyes. "You gave me your bed again." You stated. "Why did you move me from the couch? You should've used the bed instead!" First thing in the morning, you found yourself scolding Baekhyun for being overly selfless. You had felt how tense his back had been with knotted muscles just a few days ago, and there he was, giving away a well-needed sleep so that you could've been more comfortable. As much as this could be considered a good quality, you couldn't help but sometimes feel that Baekhyun was way too generous for his own good. The male sitting on the free space next to you on the bed did not even comment on what you had just said, letting your words fade into thin air.
"Did you sleep well?" He questioned instead, blinking his puppy eyes ever so innocently and you could only groan out loudly. "Nggh, I can't handle you," You lamented into the fabric of his hoody. "Don't be like that, you know I like doing these things." Baekhyun insisted.
"Yes, but it shouldn't cost you your health, Baekhyun!" You almost hissed, rasping your dry throat in the process. The slight harshness in your tone managed to quieten Baekhyun who only looked down in his laps.
"But you were so deeply asleep, I couldn't bring myself to wake you up or to let you be uncomfortable on the sofa!" Baekhyun continued to argue after a small moment of silence, his pouty lips tilting into a sulky frown. "Plus...You were starting to drool and that couch isn't exactly cheap, you know," he eventually admitted what might have been his main reason, leaving you to flush deep red with embarrassment, finding no other solution than to hide your face in his pillow. "Why did you tell me that, gosh." you groaned while suppressing the bubbling urge to scream into the pillow as well, but you decided that you had embarrassed yourself enough to do that too.
Baekhyun only giggled in response, muttering a quick: "Just kidding," To which you reacted faster than he'd expected when you threw your pillow at him, earning a girly yell from the almost thirty-year-old man. Suddenly, as if lightning had struck you, you calmed immediately down.
"How did the date go?!" You exclaimed excitedly as you crawled closer to him. Baekhyun seemed startled by your sudden mood swings for a moment but got over it quickly. You understood that something was off when Baekhyun gave you an uncertain cringe in response.
"It went well until I mentioned Sarang," He confessed, finally letting go of his usual worry-free facade and allowing the defeated look he'd been holding back take over his features, shoulders slumping together and eyebrows bent with frustration, forming a crease on his forehead. His pink lips pouty and begging for comfort, but you immediately took your eyes elsewhere to keep your thoughts about Baekhyun's lips at bay. And that, ladies and gentlemen, was the main struggle of having an attractive best friend, but that was a story for another time.
"Oh," You cooed, "Baekhyun, it's not your fault, please don't beat yourself up about it." You tried to console him but to no avail. Truthfully, there wasn't much you could do if women were scared away by the fact that he already had a child. But you still tried to ease his worries. Letting out a soft breath, you mustered a smile that you hoped could relieve him, your hand gently rubbing his arm.
"I believe that maybe, you should wait for a few dates in before speaking up about your family, so that the girl can get to know you for you, without any prejudices they may come up with beforehand. Hm?" The suggestion didn't sound illogical as Baekhyun contemplated it, eventually nodding hastily, "You're right," He agreed with a smile.
"Good, then I'll set a date with your next candidate later on today."

Every challenge in life was bound to be a bumpy road that would cause one to stumble, and even fall on the way. But never would it be impossible to go through. You had experienced that and strongly stood by that statement. Though, even you felt the tiniest hint of hope slip through your fingers when Baekhyun had one night returned from his date with a second match that you had found him, rather defeated. The girl had right after their first meeting rejected the idea of getting to know him further, and to your relief this time it hadn't been because of Sarang. Somehow, you found yourself appreciating the girl's honesty and confidence, she knew what she wanted and when she didn't find it in Baekhyun (which left you quite baffled because he was perfect) she ended things before they could go too far. It had taken a few tries to convince Baekhyun to not give up, trying to make him understand that sometimes it could take longer to find a great match. The whole blind date situation though slowly started to become less appealing to him. He had sighed heavily when saying that he didn't like to hurry and force such processes in his life that were supposed to take its time to come.
It was because of that when he entered the apartment with a wide grin on his face, you hadn't known better than to excitedly squeal and jump in his arms. You could feel his smile on your skin as he tightened his arms around you.
"Did you get a second date?" You questioned, loosening the hug ever so slightly so that you could take in the joyful expression on his face. The male gave you a dreamy grin and nodded with a childish innocence that made your heart swell with warmth. Something poked into your thoughts, something you couldn't put a finger on. It didn't feel positive, so you waved it away and concentrated on the happiness that hadn't taken place on his face for a long time now.
"I'm so happy for you Baek," You smiled, caressing his arm affectionately, "How was she?" You wondered curiously and his smile seemed to widen at the mention of the amazing girl he had just gone on a date with. You were happy to see this kind of expression display so mindlessly on his beautiful features. He truly deserved to be happy.
"She's beautiful and easygoing, which was such a relief. I felt comfortable right away. All in all, it was like a breath of fresh air. Obviously, I can't either of us have feelings yet, but I think there's a potential between us." Baekhyun explained, and you found a part of his sentence rather relieving- for a reason to you unknown but you decided not to dwell on it.
"I'm glad you liked her, I'm rooting for you!" You cheered with the most delightful expression you could muster, you wanted him to know that whatever he would do, that you would be there to support him. You wanted to see him smile, like this, every day. And if this girl would be the reason for it, then so be it. Thankfulness and adoration swam in his oceans as he took in the bright smile on your face, his expression almost having a sad twinge to it, but perhaps you were just seeing things wrong. Without a warning, he pulled you into another embrace- a silent one and yet so incredibly emotional as he pressed you to his chest, making you wonder where the butterflies fluttering in your belly came from- you had never had them before.
"Thank you." He breathed out, and his long eyelashes caressed the surface of your neck, "I appreciate everything you're doing for me. I want to give you just as much back, I promise that I'll do it."
"Baekhyun." His name tasted as always, just so sweet on your tongue, but as you had a slightly warning tone in your voice, today it felt also a bit sour. "You don't have to do anything. I'm doing this as your best friend because I want to. It's not something you'll owe me later. Okay? Please don't feel that way when you're with me. Whatever I give, just take, take. Please." You could only beg him, for once you wanted to be one to be unconditionally giving to him- it was an urge, a sensation that surged from the deepest part of your heart. Something you had to fulfill.
Tickling. An intense tickling took place in your tummy once again when the male tightened his arms that were laced around your waist, making it possible for you to feel his heartbeat against your raging one. Soon, they melted together into one unstable melody as your heart was beating so incredibly fast- crashing and rebelling against your thoughts, without your permission skipping exciting beats. This hug had by long surpassed the line between friendly and something more.
"No." Baekhyun murmured soothingly into your ear and unwillingly sent shivers thundering down your spine when the tips of his lips brushed ever so slightly against the shell of your ear, leaving no space for interjections.
Why was he like this?
Why was your heart like this? Beating at a speed of a thousand, you couldn't keep up, you felt out of breath.
You couldn't keep up.

The third girl you had set up with Baekhyun was just a few years younger than him. The two seemed to have clicked just perfectly as one date had turned into two- and two into three, into regular meets almost every day. Often, you found yourself babysitting the little Sarang, these days barely getting to see the man as he'd be out by the time you'd reach his house. You should've been happy for him, that finally, he had someone who wanted to commit themselves to him, that there was someone who loved making him feel like he mattered, but why was it that there was not even a crumb of happiness in his regards? It drove you to despise yourself, never had you thought that you could've been so cruel, so cold at heart, and for what exactly? For what reason? You missed him, sure, but you didn't believe that explained the clenching fingers clawing at your chest whenever you'd enter his damned house. The joy of babysitting the ray of sunshine had dissipated into nothingness and you had no idea how to make yourself grasp at any kind of motivation to keep going. But a part of you still fought, at least for the little Sarang who deserved anything she could get, truly. You could see it in her now saddened doll-eyes, that she too felt unusually lonely.
The moments where you'd babysit Sarang had morphed into the most dreaded hours of the day. It was as if a part of your conscious insisted for you to fight against the longing toward Baekhyun, a sensation that begged you to stay in your home, telling you that if you refused to help him out- you wouldn't have to deal with that throbbing loneliness and darn pain suffocating your every other emotion. And yet, you couldn't find it in yourself to say no, not to Baekhyun who counted on you so much. After all, you wanted him to feel like he could count on you always, you wanted him to reach out to you like he always did. You wanted him to continue doing that, and then maybe... at some point, he'd remember you were there too.
Pathetic, weren't you after all? So much for denying when it was so clear.
Everything was so clear.
That you wanted him all to yourself. Baekhyun, Baekhyun, Baekhyun. You longed to have his chocolate eyes swarming with warmth directed to you again, you wanted his radiant smile to melt your heart and cover your skin with goosebumps. You wanted his voice calling out to you for more than just a brief greeting. A long, never-ending conversation with just the two of you, on the sofa. That was what you longed for. To simply have back the time the two of you used to spend together. To be that constant in his life.
You fucking missed him, and that was okay, wasn't it? You were best friends after all. Didn't he miss you even a little bit? Now that he'd been distant for so long, didn't he think of his best friend the slightest bit? You felt your heart crack the slightest.
He was just your best friend, but why did it hurt so damn much? When the fuck did things start crumbling above of you?
If you took two paracetamol pills from 500mg, would it be the same as 1000mg? Would they ever be enough to ease the ache in your chest?
Your train of thoughts was interrupted when the screen of your phone suddenly lit up, almost startling you out of your current position on the couch. Currently, you were in the comfort of your home. The device vibrated with an incoming call and a sigh tumbled from your already parted lips.
Speaking of the devil, you thought as you hesitantly picked the phone up, for a moment you considered not answering the call. To let it ring until it would hit the hotline. Would that keep you in his thoughts?- A frown creased your brows as you realized what in the world you were thinking and before you could even evaluate your choice, you had already swiped the green button, answering the call.
It was just a call anyway. Just Baekhyun, it wasn't like something had changed after all.
You had to take a deep breath to steady your unusually nervous heartbeat. "Hello?" You spoke expectantly, finally realizing that it had been a while since he actually called you instead of sending brief texts. "Hey," His voice sounded darker over the phone, you couldn't help but remark, longing for more, the grip on your phone tightened- fingertips turning white.
"I- I know I've been asking you to come very often lately, I know you're probably resting right now and I'm sorry, but I truly need your help- I don't know what to do," Baekhyun sounded so extremely frustrated and distressed as he rambled on insecure words to which you could only frown to as you barely caught a thing he said.
"Baekhyun, calm down," You called soothingly, your voice a mere hushed tone as you knew that if you kept a calm manner, he would too. In fact, not even a second later, you heard the man draw a long breath, and almost, almost, you could see him and his chest deflate slowly as air would escape his pretty lips before you. "Now, tell me what's the matter."
"Sarang is throwing a fit! I-" Baekhyun did not know where to start, his hand gesticulating although you were not there to see him. Disbelief cascaded on his words the more he spoke, you could tell that he was absolutely desperate. "She's in her room and won't talk to me, I don't know what I have done wrong." He sighed defeatedly, "I really don't know." A moment of silence took place before his voice that had shrunken into a small, breakable whisper reached your ears again.
"Please...I really need you..." Your throat went absolutely dry at the plea in his hushed, husky voice and you swallowed whatever was left of moisture in your mouth, but to no avail, as everything was parched. Only a defeated sigh passed through your parted lips as you knew, that you were going to lose yourself in that sensation again. The one that empowered your resistance against him. You felt so lost as your lips parted and spoke on their own, you were drowning. Your lungs completely suffocating when surrounded by the longing for him that was enveloping you like violent waves in a rainstorm.
"I'll be there." The reassuring words had rolled off your tongue without your consent, but a part of you told you that it had been the right thing to do when you heard the relieved hum coming from Baekhyun on the other side. The smile spoke volumes in his voice as he thanked you hundreds of times.
***
Your gaze traveled along the pink door leading to Sarang's room. On its surface hung countless colorful drawings, to which each and all of them sparkled with childish happiness, a youth that manifested in the odd yet fantasy-filled representation of her little self holding Baekhyun's hand. In some drawings, you would even find yourself being present as well, which would never cease to provide you a lovely warmth in your chest.
Teeth dug into your lip while you contemplated your next actions. Baekhyun was standing just a few meters away with a worried frown permanently creasing his soft features while his eyes were unwavering from your figure and you could feel his gaze burning on your back. For some reason, his presence felt ever so slightly unnerving, you were sure that it was because it had been a while since the two of you finally seen each other ever since he started frequenting the girl.
Deciding to not waste any more time, you shot your shot and brought your fist to the door, knocking gently, calmly calling out to the child. "Sarang, It's me, unnie." You started after a few knocks, "Will you let me in?" Your question lingered in the air thickly for a few moments until it completely dissipated. Your lips pressed into a thin line, a bit discouraged. But nonetheless, you insisted. "Why are you sad, baby? Don't you wanna tell unnie?" Coo found its way in your voice, sweet and understanding, inducing the angry child from the other side of the wall to give in. Relief washed over you when the pink door slowly creaked open. Quickly, you sent a glance in Baekhyun's direction from over your shoulder, only to see him smiling softly at the sight of you entering his daughter's room. It was a knowing smile, like he had known exactly what had been needed when Sarang had refused him. A sweet warmth crawled in your chest, eventually spreading lovingly into every inch of your body and you found yourself smiling despite the situation.
The child had her back facing you and her small shoulders slumped downwards while her tiny fists tightened next to her sides, fingers gripping onto her puffy dress. You felt the previous warmth in your chest immediately get replaced by a cold, heartbreaking pain clenching at your heart. Oh, how you despised to see the ray of sunshine burn out like this. If something had managed to take that toothy smile from her features then it meant something, or, someone had truly hurt her feelings.
With your legs crossed on the floor, you reached out of her fist and gently untangled her fingers from the tight hold. "Sweetie," You cooed, "Who made you sad? Who should I scold, hm?" Your voice was only a mere whisper as Sarang let her herself be guided to your chest, eventually nuzzling into it once enveloped by your arms, and your heart was to be broken when she burst into subtle sniffles, indicating that she was shedding tears. "Oh honey," You soothed while running your hands through her slightly knotted tresses, her little body shook in your arms and you could only bring her closer to your chest. "What's wrong honey, please tell me or unnie will cry too." The words seemed to convince her because when you leaned away to cup her chubby cheeks with your warm palms, she let you. Her droopy puppy eyes were puffy and red with tears as she sadly blinked her long, wet lashes at you. Her flushed cheeks crystalized by the salty water.
"D-daddy," She started but struggled to speak as the hiccups bubbling in her throat were strong and overpowering, shaking her small body. "Daddy don't play with Sarang no more, he dun love Sarang no more." Upon speaking the last sentence Sarang broke into tears again, letting out ugly cries filled with heartbreak and sadness.
"Sweetheart! Why are you talking like that, you know daddy loves you. He always will." You assured but deep inside you couldn't help but wonder what this whole situation was all about, you knew that Sarang wouldn't even utter such words if it wasn't for a valid reason.
She shook her head furiously, her eyebrows bending into a sulky frown, her lips pouty and pointing downward. "Dad only talks with other unnie, he forgets about Sarang." The tears were still pooling in her eyes and slowly trailing down her kissable cheeks. It pained you to listen to what she was saying, although you knew that she was innocently exaggerating some details. It didn't take a genius to realize it, children had strong emotions and experienced things very animatedly.
"I don't want daddy to fall in love anymore." A great portion of your conscious was screaming that this was your fault after all. It was only because of you if Baekhyun had met new people, leading him to spend lesser time with his daughter. But even if you apologized to the child, she wouldn't completely understand the connections, so you settled with caressing her cheeks, with your thumb, and brushed away the tear stains.
"Sarang," A soft smile blossomed on your lips as you thought about how much Baekhyun adored Sarang. "Daddy loves you so much, more than anyone else. But sometimes he too can get caught with other people. It's normal, do you understand that?" She nodded hesitantly. "Since daddy is forgetful, and a bit dumb too," You playfully whispered the last part, prompting her to let out a giggle although her glossy eyes. "He needs someone like Sarang to remind him whenever too much, is too much. Would you do that for him, Sarang?" This time, the little girl seemed far brighter as he bobbed her head up and down, soon a smile taking place on her lips. "Then go tell daddy why you are angry now, go scold him. Grr!" You growled playfully and formed your hands into claws, to which she imitated gleefully, repeating the sound of a little tigress.
When her happy gurgles had died down, Sarang crossed her arms on her chest in a fierce demeanor and pouted angrily. You raised an amused brow and had to press your lips together so that you wouldn't laugh. "Do I look scary?" She whispered secretly, curiosity and question marks sparkled within her orbs and you nodded enthusiastically, ushering her to step outside where Baekhyun had been waiting all this time, probably nerve-wracked.
The man's face brightened like the sun when Sarang stepped out of her room with you following close behind. Without wasting a single second, he crouched on the floor and opened his arms for her to step inside them, but was caught off guard when Sarang intimidatingly crossed her arms over her chest just like she had done with you two minutes ago. " I am angry at daddy!" She spouted right in his face, not bothering to put it into a nicer way. Baekhyun was shocked, almost scandalized for that matter and you had to drill your teeth into your lip to not burst into laughter.
"B-baby- what?" He stammered, clearly taken aback. His arms that had been inviting her into a hug slowly fell limp next to his sides.
"Daddy, you always go out and forget about Sarang." The child pointed out to the father whose eyes widened with realization, regret slowly but surely taking over every inch of his being.
"I feel like daddy don't care about me no more," The anguish burst through the tough behavior that she had tried to pull off in the begging, the playfulness by now long gone and both you and Baekhyun saw how her already swollen eyes had started to water again. Baekhyun felt like her heart had broken right in his hands and he felt so angry at himself, disappointed. So much for being a better father, only for it to hurt the most important person in his life.
"Oh sweetheart, I-" Even he choked on the lump in the throat, tears immediately reached his waterline to blurry out his view. You felt like you weren't supposed to stand right there and witness such a scene, but it wasn't like you could leave either.
"I am so sorry," He gasped and desperately reached out for Sarang who thankfully did not move away and instead let her father embrace her. His face was nuzzled into her little shoulder while his beautiful hand was in a constant caressing motion at the back of her head, whispering sorrowful apologies to her ears.
"I- I just wanted you to be happier, I wanted to find someone so that you could have a mommy again. But instead, I hurt you, and daddy is so sorry, will you forgive him?" Baekhyun explained to his girl while rocking their bodies slowly from side to side, his voice by now weak and threatening to break at any second. Sarang abruptly leaned away from his chest, wearing a disbelieved frown on her face.
"But Sarang don't need a mommy! Sarang has daddy and unnie, is enough!" She scolded her own dad for not knowing any better although she had made it clear to him that having a mother wasn't a necessity at this point, yet not truly understanding that Baekhyun needed someone to love him that way. She was indeed, still too young for that conversation. However, the male tried to put it in a simpler way.
Ever so gently, he tucked a few strands of her hair behind her ear, a tender, an extremely sweet smile blossomed on his lips, and even just seeing him making that face was enough for the butterflies to wildly flutter their wings against the walls of your tummy. You wanted to look away but you simply couldn't, he was like the sun, and like its flower, you kept yourself gazing at him.
"Sarang, sweetheart." He initiated calmly, "I know that is how you feel, and dad is happy that you are content." His voice was soothing, a mere feather running along with your ears as he pronounced each and every word slowly so that he was sure that she could understand all of it. Not so subtly, he looked up at you and met your magnetic gaze before continuing. "However, even people like daddy and unnie need someone who loves them as a mother and father does to each other," Baekhyun concluded and guided his eyes towards his daughter again, who seemed to get a hold of the concept he was. Although not completely happy with the answer, she nodded understandingly, looking down at her feet and in the process cast a faint shadow of her lashes down her apple round cheeks.
"Thank you for understanding, Sarang. I love you, baby." Baekhyun sincerely said before trapping the little girl in his embrace again, extremely joyful about the fact that she had wrapped her short arms around his neck back. She had forgiven him.
"What do you think about a movie night? Every day for the next week?" He then suggested enthusiastically, approving the thought of canceling a couple of dates with the girl. After all, he had every right to spend time with his daughter. It was about time that he started setting his priorities straight again. Little Sarang let out an excited squeal that made Baekhyun flinch back and painfully hold his ear while he cringed at the bouncing girl in his arms. Relief settled onto your heart while watching the forgive each other, not stopping the soft smile from crawling on your lips.
With a satisfied sigh, you excused yourself. "Well then, I'll take my leave." You announced briefly and readied yourself to reach the front door. Baekhyun and Sarang stopped playing with each other and unintentionally whined at the same time, in the same way, making you crack up the slightest. Baekhyun scrambled to his feet and hurried to stand in front of you, a shy look crossing his delicate face, making you want to just- cup his cheeks so bad and just shower them with lov- No. Contain yourself.
"No, don't leave."
"Huh?
"Stay. After all, it is thanks to you that we solved this matter." Baekhyun proposed with a proud smile on his lip, one that you couldn't reciprocate. You shook your head in disagreement.
"No, Baekhyun. It's my fault that this happened." You said dejectedly, finding a sudden interest in your shoes, missing the disapproving frown that Baekhyun had upon hearing your words.
"Hey," He had beckoned lowly, ever so slightly warningly as his gentle fingers had to your surprise, clasped around your chin, tilting your face upwards so that you could meet his sincere orbs. They were pooling with such raw emotions that overwhelmed you, crashed upon you even though you couldn't figure out a single one of them. The warmth from his delicate fingertips seeped into your skin and yet, that sudden proximity still managed to send shooting starts down your spine.
"That is absolutely not true." Baekhyun murmured, "Please don't feel that way." You had no idea if it had been your eyes playing hallucinating, but at one point, his dark, droopy gaze had fallen from your eyes to the south of your face. The action was subtle, perhaps could've been seen as innocuous, but it set your heart on fire, it went crashing against your ribs- rebelling against your thoughts and begging to burst through your chest. He was too close and you found yourself completely unable to get a hold of your emotions. You had felt how the tongue had tied itself into a knot in your mouth, cold sweat prickling at your skin. Why he was having such a dramatic effect on your body, you couldn't tell and it frustrated you so much- to not function properly in his proximity. Since when had things become this way?
"Just stay and watch a few movies with us, it's been a while anyways. We... I miss having you around." The pleading in his voice was genuine and it didn't fail to squeeze your heart longingly, you felt so damn wanted at that moment that despite your hesitant self, you still found yourself nodding at his request. You had waited for the moment he'd ask you to spend time with him again, where it could just be you, him, and the little Sarang. Maybe, he hadn't completely forgotten about you completely after all. A relieved and thankful smile bloomed on Baekhyun's pretty lips as you agreed, his hands immediately reached for yours like it was all they had ever longed for, taking you to the living room.
The title of the movie appeared proudly on the Tv screen as you and Sarang entered the living room. Baekhyun had dragged you there right away, but you had insisted to get Sarang in her pajama before doing anything else. The man was already sprawled on the couch in his light blue pajama, its slight oversize made his portions shrink in the silky fabric, nonetheless looked immaculate. With his brown hair looking absolutely soft and caressive and a soft hue spreading on his shiny cheeks, a color that made your eager fingers twitch in the urge to reach out and touch them. His skin that always looked so flawless no matter from where you gazed, you wondered if it was as soft as it seemed, or if it also was surrounded by a gentle scent of lotion-like his pretty hands often were. You knew because your skin was now bearing a certain fragrance that he had transmitted to you when holding your hand in his. For some reason, you couldn't stop concentrating on the flowery scent now emanating from your hands.
If you'd smell it from close- you'd probably get drunk on it. On him.
Had you just admitted that?
Sarang was radiating excitement as she ran to the couch, jumping on it like the bunny she was and snuggled immediately next to Baekhyun who wordlessly brought her closer, placing an affectionate kiss on her crown. Teeth were drilled in your lip as you took a seat, for your own sanity keeping a distance that usually wouldn't be there. Sitting by the end of the couch, you earned two confused looks from both Baekhyun and Sarang.
Baekhyun looked you up and down with an incredulous look, almost mockingly as he chuckled out loud. "What are you doing," He deadpanned, leaning across the couch to grip your arm. "You're acting weird today," Baekhyun pointed out, " just come here." He chimed as he with a gentle force dragged you next to him, throwing an arm around your shoulders so that you wouldn't escape. "There we go," He hummed contently, tightening his hold around you and Sarang who was in your same position but on the opposite side. For a moment you went completely frozen in your spot, the parts of your body that brushed his was all you could concentrate on. How scorching hot his skin was on yours, scalding you. As if you were the fuel, it took Baekhyun only a single touch for you to turn into a fire. It was as if the air in your lungs had been sucked out within a mere second, leaving you to gasp for oxygen. He- Baekhyun was so close, too close. He really shouldn't be so forward with you, putting his hand on your hip and gripping it casually, you wished you could tell him to take it easy on you, that you couldn't handle it if he did that kind of things. Your heart was weak, so extremely weak and already beating at such a speed, you feared it'd combust. You feared that he would feel it drumming and vibrating like a bass through your shaking body. And yet, you couldn't bring yourself to move away.
You couldn't bring yourself to even articulate a single word, there was a whole dance school going on in your belly.
You were melting in his embrace, and you wanted to.
"My princesses," Baekhyun cooed, his voice sounded as if it was dripping with honey and affection when he pressed another kiss to Sarang's head, and to your utter, beautiful disbelief, on yours too. Baekhyun's lips that you had never expected to ever have anywhere near your skin were now tenderly pressing a fond kiss to your temple. When he leaned slightly away, his candy scented breath melted into your skin before he closed the gap once again and pecked you once more, making you straight out tremble. Baekhyun's nape was right next to your nose as you had allowed yourself (despite your nervous body) to cuddle into him like he had wanted you to, and you had to fight the urge to lean in and run your nose down his neck and breathe in the dazing scent coming from his fresh skin. There wasn't a single second where your whole being hadn't craved to drift even closer to him that night.
After a while, Sarang finally fell into a deep slumber in the arms of her father. It had been predictable that she wasn't going to last much longer, all that crying had for sure drained her energies. Baekhyun got up to put her to sleep, but soon returned and sat back on his spot. Not forgetting to make sure he could have his body in contact with yours, and so the two of you continued to watch movies until the late night.
***
As slumber was slowly leaving your body, all you could subconsciously remark was that you hadn't slept this well in a long time. A few parts of your body were aching due to the awkward position that you weren't completely aware of yet. A content, lazy smile was on your lips when your body became conscious of the comforting warmth provided, it was combining with your own and crawling soothingly to reassure every inch of your body. But the more you slipped into awakeness, although your eyes were still closed shut with sleep, you realized that it wasn't really a blanket keeping you warm as you had believed just a few moments ago. Frowning groggily, you slowly allowed your eyes to flutter open, meeting one of the most breathtaking scenes you had ever taken part of. For a moment all you could think was that there was an angel lying next to you, an angel was holding you in his arms and he looked beautiful as if he had stepped out of a painting and blessed you with his presence.
In the span of a few seconds, your heartbeat had sped up, only to sooner calm down, its excitement morphing into a warmth that allowed flowers to bloom in your tummy. Their petals were tickling you and their roots were carving the beautiful letters of his name into your heart. His wavy hair was messily scattered over his forehead, on his crown it stuck into every direction but nonetheless- beautiful. A beautiful mess. Baekhyun's lips were slightly parted as soft sneers tumbled out of them. The eyelashes were glittering in the golden rays of the sun peeking through the blinders, like small diamonds adorning a ring. Their length reached the flushed apples of his cheeks, kissing them and casting a sweet shadow. You smiled fondly at the innocent view, at the warm blush that traveled from his left cheek, up the bridge of his nose and onto the right cheek, a soft hue that made him look so gorgeously young. His face completely free of any frown, indicating that he was having a peaceful sleep. Like he wasn't carrying so many struggles on his own, he looked like a carefree kid having his afternoon nap.
You felt yourself melting before him, Baekhyun's limbs were hugging your hips close to himself and his hands lazily claimed your waist while his fingertips teased the exposed skin of your back. The organ in your chest swelled, filling itself with so much affection and raw emotions, it swelled and swelled until you felt it pounding against your ribs. As if it was begging to break free and intertwine itself with Baekhyun's. Your eyes traced his tender features as he slept, so peaceful and mild, you wished the world could stop in this instant so that you could forever share this warmth with him. So that you could forever be embraced by his strong arms, protected, loved. So that you could forever bask in his scent that was sweet and soapy, mixed with the freshness of wood.
Another smile found its way on your lips as you pondered.
Indeed, loving Baekhyun was as easy as hating the cops.
Indeed-
Loving...
Loving Baekhyun.
The realization hit you like an ice-cold waterfall cutting through your body, air hitching inside of your throat as your eyes widened like saucers. Suddenly the flowers blooming in your chest felt like thorns scratching and cutting your insides. No, oh fuck no.
You should've known that the butterflies had been a red flag all along. With your chest heaving for oxygen, you re scrambled from your laying position, making Baekhyun stir awake at the sudden violent movements.
You liked him... No, you fucking loved him. You loved Baekhyun so much and it was so fucked up that you were helping him get together with someone else instead of making your feelings clear for him.
You had no idea why you felt so unnerved all of a sudden, but your thoughts were swirling all over your the place into a jumbled mess, making you breathless and utterly confused, all you knew was that you needed to leave the house and just getaway. Get away from him.
The heart jumped all the way to your throat when his voice suddenly ringed through the walls. Husky and tired, it called your name questioningly, making you freeze in your steps as you saw him entering the hallway you were standing in.
"What's going on?" He yawned, "Where are you going?"He pouted, which you really couldn't handle at the moment. Even in your panicked state, your brain found a way to remark how unfairly adorable Baekhyun was at the moment, rubbing the sleep out of his eye, the paw of his hand peeking from the oversized sleeve while standing there like a confused puppy. In his question lingered an unspoken request for you to stay longer, but at the moment all you really needed was some alone time to accept this new realization.
"I..." You had no idea what to say for yourself and you hoped he wouldn't dig too deep. "I have to go to work! Oh my God, I am actually very late- shit!" The words that left your trembling lips were completely random and made no sense as you started wearing your shoes and picked up your bag. Movements were extremely messy and rushed. Stupid! You cursed yourself, it was a freaking Sunday and there was no way Baekhyun was going to believe that. Despite the confused (and adorable) frown causing a tiny crease on his forehead, he didn't question it. It seemed like your hasty behavior had been enough to fool his groggy self.
"Will you come by next week?" Baekhyun then asked before you could curl your hand against the handle. Suddenly it felt like the lump in your throat had grown inches- and kept on expanding as another realization dawned on you.
He had told you just last night how he would be having another date next week since he had postponed the one from yesterday to focus more on his daughter. And you had, with a smile, agreed.
You would be going to his house, only for him to exit it, to meet another woman, and this fact that hadn't given you more than a little twinge in your chest yesterday was now devastating you.
Baekhyun was already entering another relationship- and although you had known that, until today, it had never meant anything to you. But now all of a sudden, you did bother because you knew that you so much wanted to be that girl he would be smiling at- and perhaps even kissing every day. Gosh, you wanted him all for yourself but wishing was so fucking useless at the moment. You had already thrown away your chance and Baekhyun already belonged to someone. And that someone was not you.
Nothing had been established and yet it still felt like your heart was breaking. Even so, why was it so damn painful? Why did it need to feel like someone was ripping it to shreds, clenching it with no mercy? Perhaps, because as beautiful as love could seem, be and feel, it was bound to hurt you just as much when gone wrong.
Be aware of butterflies, they had said, because they'll break your heart.
To pieces.
It had always sounded ridiculous to you, but there you were experiencing the exact thing. Your heart was crumbling, falling in the pit of your stomach as your teeth drew blood from your lips to stop them from trembling. All you could offer the man was a nod before escaping behind the door because the last thing you could trust at that point was your voice.
Although now outside, the fresh air did not help your suffocating lungs as you gasped out the sob that you had been holding in for the entire time in there. Tears blurred your view but you furiously dried them with your sleeve as you hurried over to your car. The fabric of your jacket rubbing against your eyes hurt more than what you had thought and you found yourself cursing under your breath, cursing everything you had done and everything that came into your view. It did not make you feel better at all. What were you supposed to do when everything you had was crumbling upon you?
A weight had laid itself upon your chest from the very moment you had opened that door of his, and you knew, that it was going to be with you for a while.
***
The week was rushing by and although you had done nothing but immerse yourself in your job to forget and concentrate on other things that weren't the pain in your chest and the desperate longing for his presence, you still felt as if nothing had changed. It still felt like that Sunday where you had left Baekhyun's property with tears in your eyes had yet to come to an end. Indeed, the week passed by and you followed your routine, but no matter where your body would go during the days, your mind wouldn't budge from that one morning where for a few moments, everything had been so perfect and ever so ethereal, only for it to be like a window busted by a rock.
You were frustrated with yourself because you couldn't wrap your head around it and let it go. It was all you wanted at the moment, to just accept things as they were and end this pain. But your heart was stubborn like you had never asked it to be. So loyal to that boxy and toothy smile of his. Friday was nearing and your heart could just race anxiously at the reminder of babysitting Sarang. You were nowhere ready to face him again, the part of you who was a coward secretly hoped that Baekhyun would be out by the time you'd arrive so that you could indulge solely in Sarang's warm smile. It'd be just helpful if you could forget his at some point, that would hurt a lot less, wouldn't it?
What hurt even more, was how you knew, that he was clueless about all of this pain he was causing you, and you couldn't put a single blame on him.
It had been you, after all.

Friday, a little over 6 pm. Perhaps you had come a bit late on purpose, but you wouldn't admit that to yourself as you stood in right before his front door and swung nervously on the balls of your feet. Conflicted between knocking or just entering casually as you normally would. If you knocked, it wasn't like the little Sarang would be tall enough to open the door, but what if Baekhyun would supposedly still be at home for whatever reason when you went in? That would feel even more awkward and-
Your hand twitched and before you knew it, you had already swung the door open, as if your body was fed up with your overthinking and took matters into its own hands. Quite literally. Well, no turning back now, you encouraged yourself and walked in while muttering a small I'm here. It was odd to not have a bubbly Sarang running with all her might to latch her arms around your legs and give you the happiest greeting. Instead, you were met with deafening silence, though you knew that you weren't alone in the house as it had been unlocked. The more you walked your way inside, the clearer the noise of glasses clinking against each other became. Rounding the corner, you were met with the last thing you had expected to see. A defeated Baekhyun arranging liquors and alcoholic drinks on the table, a few shot glasses stood unused by the bottles and you supposed that he hadn't even gotten started yet. You completely forgot about the worries that had been eating you up just a few seconds ago and walked over to him, grabbing his wrist before he could pour himself the string liquid you knew he couldn't handle.
"What are you doing?" You regretted how accusing your question had come out, but soon your cleared your throat and spoke again, "Why are you here at home, what about Sarang?" This time you spoke softly and allowed your gaze to lock with his confused one that within a matter of seconds filled with realization. A groan left his lips as he buried his face into his palms.
"Sorry, I forgot to tell you, I dropped her at my mother's, you actually didn't need to come." Baekhyun seemed incredibly apologetic and regretful as he explained himself, but you couldn't bring yourself to concentrate on those emotions when his droopy orbs were swirling with something far more sorrowful. His eyes were dark, and deep like oceans and anyone else wouldn't have been able to read him at this moment. But you had dived into those eyes of his so many times before, you knew better than to believe that those lines of lack of sleep tracing his features were merely because of his exhausting job. Worry crawled into you and you took a seat in front of him, hesitantly brushing your fingertips against his only to feel the urge to flinch because they weren't as warm as they'd usually be when holding onto you.
"Baekhyun, what's wrong?" The question on its own managed to crack the facade he often wore to not worry anyone around him and to make himself believe he was fine when in reality he was anything but that. His eyebrows bent in sorrow and his eyes turned ever so slightly glossy, making a lump grow in your throat.
"I messed up," He confessed under his breath, his whisper breaking in the middle of his sentence. Baekhyun's hands were frustrated as they gripped at his hair, pulling slightly as he puffed out a desperate breath. "It's over. " A small tear escaped his eye and he growled frustratedly, drying it harshly. "As soon as she knew about Sarang she cut the ties. What am I going to do at this point?!" He was on the verge of shouting, "I am not good enough for anyone, I'm so fucking done." You could see his adam's apple bobbing, reasonably attempting to swallow down the sob threatening to spill from his lips because he didn't need another person to witness him being weak for the millionth time.
No, please, don't ever say that. You wanted to tell him so bad, but you were such a coward, it was like your lips were sealed. When another tear traveled down his cheek, you finally found it in yourself to scramble out of your seat and sit next to him instead, taking his face into your trembling hands and shaking your head with disagreement.
"That is so not true, Baekhyun." You murmured brokenly. The fact that he would even for a second believe such a lie made you want to burst into tears. He was so beautiful, he was anything that someone could want in a person and more. It was so unfair that he didn't know. Baekhyun's expression was indecipherable even to you as he stared into your eyes with such seriousness, eventually tracing your features and you could feel his eyes dance all over your face.
Baekhyun cleared his throat after what seemed to have been five whole minutes, but really, had been a lot less. His hands gently pried yours from his cheeks and placed them back in your lap, eyeing the things he had set on the table before you had come. With a sigh, he uttered:
"Shall we have a couple of drinks?" The question was so out of the blue and yet managed to crack you up, and he smiled slightly too when he saw you doing it. You nodded.
Why not? He wasn't the only emotional one, and you had no idea what would be the outcome if the two of you got drunk together, but at the moment you couldn't care less. It finally felt as if that weight was slowly lifting itself from your chest, so all you could do was continue on this road you had ended upon.
***
Laughter and giggling were filling the once quiet walls of his home, Baekhhyun had just sputtered one of his stupid jokes that really, shouldn't have been as funny as it had seemed now that you were influenced by alcohol. Yet, you found yourself laughing intensely enough to have tears spring in your eyes. The man wore a proud grin on his face upon having you laugh so freely because of something he said. You weren't completely drunk just yet- but tipsy enough to have that warm hue crawl along your face, giving both of you a shy look, but that shy look secretly hid a sudden braveness that only came with the strong drink. One that made you feel the bravest you've ever been, at the same time as an enhanced version of yourself, possibly, a little out of yourself too. But it didn't matter anymore.
Your loud voices eventually died down and Baekhyun leaned his head onto the table when hit by a sudden wave of sleepiness and dizziness. His cheek squashed against its surface and in the process hid his eye as he faced you in his position. He looked at you and you gazed back, leaning onto your palm to take in his every detail, only to feel a sudden sense of unfairness surge within you, anger sparked in your chest as you picked up your beer bottled and swung it in the air while gesticulating.
"I don't understand!" Your loud voice made the sleepy male flinch back awake, he eyed you with big eyes and question marks popping above of his head. "You!" You pointed an accusatory finger in his direction and the confused male winced once again, not knowing what to expect from you, whether he'll feel offended or confused by the possible nonsense about to leave your mouth. But that wasn't really it.
"You're so beautiful." The statement was nothing like what he had expected you to say and the shock was evident on his flushed face. The more you looked at his pink cheeks, the more you wanted to squish his them together and press your lips to his plump ones that currently looked like your favorite lollipop flavor. "And I do not understand how three women in a row rejected all this good that you are! Like can't they see?!" You slurred and pointed at him once more. "
"Byun Baekhyun, if I was them, I would've already been your girlfriend, loving both you and Sarang. They are dumb. They are dumb, you hear me?!" Your voice was slightly high-pitched as you spoke, the words you were uttering were making your heart beat faster because you knew that you were basically confessing, but the sudden braveness was clouding your senses. All you could think about was that you wanted him to know.
"You are perfect- Byun Baekhyun," Your head dropped gently on the table right in front of his and the table felt cool on your cheek which made you feel more awake. Not enough to back away though. "Repeat after me," You ordered, without realizing the meaningful look that Baekhyun was manifesting in his starry eyes while following your every movement.
"I am perfect-" You felt yourself freeze when suddenly consciousness was knocked into you with the simple caress of Baekhyun's strawberry breath on your cheeks. Without a warning, he had scooted closer to you, his hand reached out for your own and thunders seemed to spark from his fingertips as they met yours, gently tracing your palm and intertwining your fingers with his beautiful ones. From a little more than tipsy to completely sober in the span of a few seconds, it was absolutely odd but even so, you couldn't find it in yourself to willingly move away. Because you didn't want to.
Butterflies fluttered in your belly- and the sensation brought you to fear, however, Baekhyun's familiar scent fell on you like the warmest, most comforting blanket, and you soon forgot about anything that wasn't him. His face from this close was like the most precious treasure, you loved how you could count his lashes from this nearness, being able to see the texture of his skin or stare at your own reflection in his sparkling, adoring mirrors.
As much as those features of his were mesmerizing, nothing could even remotely come close to those pink lips of his that glistened under the dim kitchen lights has he darted a slow, and careful tongue across them, and the action made a foreign heat gather in your core. Unconsciously, your legs pressed together. You wanted them on yours so bad. His breath on your mouth was teasing and making you impatient. Teeth dug into your lip as you held back the urge to close the distance, Baekhyun was just taking his time studying yours as if he had to find the perfect way to kiss them with, eyes hooded with desire. A wave of disappointment washed over you when you felt his hand untangle from yours, but it didn't last long as he soon enough had already cupped your cheek with it. He wasted no time in bringing his thumb to your caged lips and released them from the hold of your teeth, letting them fall apart and vulnerable. They were pulsing eagerly, longing for his to devour them.
His thumb still held the fine edge of your lower lip as he inched closer, expanding it and feeling its soft texture with his pad. You watched his eyelids fall over his orbs as he gently licked the part of your lips that he was pulling and the gasp you let out at the sensation melted on his caressing tongue. His wet pillows stuck to yours like sticky glue as he finally pressed them against yours. A trembling sigh left your lips when you finally got what you wanted. He shifted from the table without parting your lips, keeping you engaged in the hungry kiss. You hadn't even noticed how he had dragged you up to your feet only so that he could press you against the nearest wall and press his scorching body against yours. Baekhyun's teeth dug softly into your lip before soothing it with a suck, later dragging his lips down your jaw, your neck, and painted your skin with his tickling kisses. The heat in your core could only grow as his hands traced every inch of your body, thumbs pushing the fabric of your shirt so that they could draw circles on your hips.
He panted against your collarbone at the pleasant feeling of your lips on his ear and your heart swelled when his arms hugged your waist instead of touching it sensually as he had done a few seconds ago. Without a warning, he kissed you square on the lips once again, but you complied joyfully. "Jump, please," He muffled against your swelling lips, and you did, lacing your legs around his torso. His hand traced the lower part of your thighs, coming to rest on your bum. Although your clothes were separating you, his touch still felt like it burned on your skin. It made you feel alive as it traveled underneath your shirt, spreading on your back. Taking its time to feel every pattern of your flesh, bones. Like you were the most beautiful canvas and his fingers' the brushed itching to paint it.
Everything that was happened felt slow, but at the same time like a blur. Your head was spinning around as you suddenly found yourself in his bedroom, shakily unbuttoning his shirt. Your fingers were trembling uncontrollably, barely pushing the buttons out of the hole. Warmth crept on your cheeks because you were taking so long, but you couldn't help the excitement buzzing so violently through your body. You thought Baekhyun had gotten enough of your incapability when he suddenly grabbed your hands, stopping you from continuing. But Baekhyun had always been full of surprises. Your heart squirmed affectionately when he brought your hands to his face. "It's okay," He had murmured ever so gently as he pressed feathery kisses on your fingertips, lips enveloping your digits.
"I- I'm sorry," You stuttered, completely out of yourself as you resumed unbuttoning, this time successful, "It just feels like I'm unwrapping a gift I've been waiting for my whole life." You admitted quietly, hesitantly placing your hands on his sturdy shoulders, slowly pushing down his shirt, stripping him of it. His body was warm and tense underneath your touch, muscles hard and strong.
A sweet chuckle resonated through the walls and you wished you could've replayed it a thousand times again. The sun had set hours ago, leaving the bright full moon to paint his features in its silver, glittering linings. He looked even more mesmerizing than this morning, he just never stopped growing beautiful.
Baekhyun found it impossible not to kiss your flushed cheeks at your nervous antics. Pressing his forehead against yours, he let your hands go, just so that he could trace his finger along your protruding collarbone, eventually hooking around your spaghetti strap. "Can I?" He asked carefully, and you thought he never would've. You nodded and he wasted no time, face nuzzling into the crook of your neck, he lifted the hem of your shirt. A kiss was pressed to your shoulders before he leaned away so that you could lift your arms, helping him.
"My beautiful," He breathed out at the view of your naked torso, eyes brimming with adoration and affection like you truly were the most wonderful person he had ever seen, "Beautiful darling."
You had no idea how a moment could be such a blur but at the same time feel like the while you've been more alive than ever. From when his hands had explored your naked body, bosom swelling in his tender palms, giving him the chance to feel your beating heart pulsating against his fingers. His lips whispering the sweetest nothing's into your ear as he made sure you knew that you were beautiful. The moment you had been able to do just the same with him, giving him sensations to remember and treasure. Sensations that only you and he could ignite from each other. Becoming one important thing together, one wonderful thing.
One.

It was late in the morning, but you felt like you could sleep for another ten hours. You felt completely exhausted as you stirred awake, stretching your limbs ever so slightly, only to wince at the sore sensation taking place in the lower parts of your body. Of course, you remembered. Although you had been under the influence of alcohol, there would've never been a chance that you would forget such a moment. Hence, you were happy, so happy that you felt tingles crawling through your body, shooting stars flying down your spine. Your whole being was like a starry night as you woke up to Baekhyun eyeing you with those droopy eyelids hooding lazily over his orbs. His arm was hugging your bare waist and he was staying in the position that he had woken up in, that alone should've been to answer your every question, but still, you felt the need to hear it from him. Though, before you could even open your mouth, Baekhyun had already beat you to it.
"I have to apologize."
What? Your heart fell to the pit of your stomach and you felt how the anxiety was crawling at every edge it could grip.
"I, I apologize for making love to you when I wasn't sober- I"
Making love.
Not sex. Love.
"Baekhyun. I love you." It was like his voice had been sucked back into his throat as you interrupted him with the words. "Do you regret what we did?" You continued, and Baekhyun looked taken aback, to say the least, but he recovered quickly and shook his head with a soft smile blossoming on his lips.
"As I was saying, " He chuckled, "It's hard for me to wrap my head around the way everything happened. But I don't regret a single thing I said, neither anything I did." What he was saying settled a blissful relief in your chest and your eyes couldn't find something to settle on his beautiful face. Whether to gaze into his endless oceans or watch his swollen lips speak, or maybe the tiny moles scattered all over his face.
"I've been feeling it for a while. That I was just fooling myself, and those women I went out with. Because as amazing as they were, I realized that there isn't anyone else I'd like to spend my days apart from you." Honey dripped from his lips, indeed his words were too sweet, but they were directed towards you, and that solely felt like you were stepping onto could nine.
"Nobody knows me like you do," He murmured as he pressed a palm to your flushed cheek, the pad of his thumb drawing lazy circles on it. "Nobody loves Sarang like you do,"
"How could there ever be someone else when you're here, loving everything I am including my flaws, probably knowing me better than I do myself." He chuckled with disbelief as if he couldn't believe that he had actually tried to chase other women when the only one for him had been next to him all along.
"And as I've realized that I...That I love you, I won't apologize that our first time wasn't when I was completely aware and sober." Baekhyun pleaded for forgiveness, shifting so that he could hover over you, the blanket slipped down his naked body, exposing him slightly. But the truth was that you weren't angry at all.
"And I hope you'll let me do it again, but this time I'll do it right." He dipped his head down to murmur against your lips.
"Will you let me?" His hand had caressed along the lines of your body, fingers gently prying the cover from your bodies. In his eyes shone so much love, so much desire to show it all to you, how much you meant to him.
"You don't have to ask," You replied sweetly, already welcoming the petals dancing in your tummy, loving the traces of warmth his hands left on you, how he took his time to explore every inch of you so that he could know you like no one else did. So that he could love you like no one else did.
"Daddy!!!" Sarang's high pitched giggle cut through the thick tension that had built up between the two of you, prompting Baekhyun to look down at you with a terrified expression taking over his face.
"Daddy I'm home! Let's play!"
"You should go," You teased while laughing at him, to which he gave you a playful glare, a bit disappointed to postpone things.
"Daadddyyyy! Are you hiding?" Sarang insisted from wherever she was wandering, and you couldn't help but think to yourself, that you were ready. Ready to indulge into this relationship, ready to take Sarang in your arms as if she was your family. You were ready to face it all.
A sudden affectionate swelling took place in your heart and you couldn't stop yourself when you grabbed Baekhyun's cheeks in your hands and pulled him down for a gentle, lingering kiss.
"You should go before she sees us like this." You ushered him to hurry and he nodded in agreement, stealing another set of eager kisses. "Will do, my love" He whispered in your ear teasingly before rolling over the other side and getting ready to greet his impatient daughter.
It felt like it was only you and me in the world.
I fell in love with your smile. After that, I just love everything about you.
I think of you every day,
Stupid in love.
Fin.

Are you still doing the Drabble game? If yes, can I request #11 with sehun?
(Admin: Xunyi, sorry it’s so short this one really hard to work with alone lmao Ari wasn’t kidding when she warned me of that, maybe I'm just not good at writing)
11: “I look much better than him.”
You did not mean for your eyes to linger on the man passing by, but the bright color of his hair caught your eye. Sehun noticed waving his hand in front of your face, you turn towards him snapping out of the trance the bright orange color put you into. His bottom lip is slightly jutted forward into a pout his arms crossed over his chest.
"Did you listen to anything I was saying?" Sehun inquires, cocking his head to the side.
"Of course, you were talking about your and Chanyeol's preparations," you murmur nodding in his direction.
"I look better than him," Sehun mutters taking a sip of his drink.
You cannot help but laugh shaking your head at him: "I didn't even see his face, I just liked the color of his hair."
You tease, Sehun sighs taking another drink from his cup turning towards the front of the restaurant. Still waiting on your order to arrive.

Lay x werewolf!Reader: truly impossible.
This bby blasts all the supernatural AU fics I read, I’m enchanted, okay.
“You need to breathe.”
The words brought you back to reality and you coughed, blood appearing in the corner of your mouth. You glanced up at the man, focusing on his features to stay conscious. The pain was starting to become dull and you didn’t need anyone to tell you that you were dying.
The man didn’t seem nervous at all though, smiling reassuringly as his fingers worked on the open wound on your stomach. Said wound was a deep scratch, one that couldn’t be just wrapped up and left on its own. But it seemed as though he didn’t consider it life threatening. After all the years spent around those of your kind he probably knew a lot about injures like such. You heard that more than once, has he saved your friends’ lives.
“Now it’ll hurt” he whispered.
“Surprise” you mumbled in response, at which he only grinned, not even glancing at you.
You didn’t know what he did, but the pain made you grip on the closest thing to your hand, which happened to be his thigh. He didn’t flinch, even when you realized that your nails turned into claws under the pressure, ripping through his jeans and digging into the flesh.
The feeling of your claws stuck in something was calming; your wolf’s psyche knew that if you’re the one to bury them into flesh, it means you’re winning the fight. Now, even without any kind of combat, it caused you to dive carelessly into the soothing remembrance.
Once the pain in your stomach dulled out again, the man glanced at you.
“I can assure you ripping my pants off doesn’t need to be done in such a drastic way.”
“Excuse m-”
“I’d be really thankful if you didn’t rip my flesh off by the way, though. I’d rather you claw at my back, if anything.”
You instantly retreated your hand, the sudden embarrassment waking you up a little.
“I-I’m sorry” you stuttered out. “I-I just… I’m really sorry…”
He shook his head in disbelief, but didn’t say anything more, getting back to your wound.
You sighed. Was he mad at you? That was the last thing you’d like to happen. Pissing a medic off definitely wasn’t the most fortunate thing to achieve in your position.
“Yixing, I’m sorry…” you said once more, reaching to him with your non-bloodied hand, but the man didn’t budge.
“Could you stop moving? I’m trying to stitch you up” he said patiently, but his eyes never met yours. You whined.
“Are you mad at me…? I’m sorry, you can scratch me too if you want” you offered pitifully.
“I think you don’t need anymore scratches, [F/n].”
“…Right.”
You pressed your lips together, watching his face carefully. Your own must have tensed, because a few seconds later, the man chuckled shortly.
“Stop frowning, I’m not mad at you. I’m just trying to focus. Jongdae almost ripped my arm off when I attempted to take a bullet out of his ass. It’s really nothing.”
You couldn’t stop a burst of laughter at the anecdote, one that turned into a pained cough barely a second later, causing the man to glance at you worriedly.
“No more talking, wait till I’m done” he announced and you let out a quiet whimper of surrender. You felt lightheaded, black dots dancing in the corner of your vision, urging you to just close your eyes and doze off.
“Hey, Yixing?” you spoke, not even remembering what he said right before.
“Hm?”
“Am I going to die?”
A soft sigh escaped the man’s lips, and for a few seconds, no words had been spoken. Only when he finally put the last stitch on the wound and started wrapping it up, had he looked at you, the same reassuring smile brightening his features in a way that made you give in to it with trust.
“I’m not going to let you die” he replied honestly. “Any of you.”
“Even if we hurt you?” you dared to ask.
“Even then.”
“Hey, Yixing?” you peeked at him once he finished wrapping up your wound. His hands were still covered in some of your blood and he took a towel, wiping off the bigger stains. Everything around got messy, including his clothes and the sofa you were lying on. You’ll have to get him a new one, you realized.
“Hm?”
“You know, wolves often lick their wounds to make them heal better” you started slowly. “Our saliva can actually help with healing, so… your leg…”
He glanced down at the injury you unwittingly caused on his thigh. It seemed to be still bleeding, but nothing serious; he’d know if he had to worry. Besides, he’d been through worse.
Your words made him chuckle, though.
“You’re really trying to get to my thighs, aren’t you?”
“I, um-”
“If you want your lips on my skin so badly, let’s arrange that when you’re in a better shape. Wouldn’t want you to tire out too fast if we start.”
You blinked, dumbfound, your brain going blank for a few seconds while proceeding what had just been said. And when it finally proceeded, you realized that you definitely didn’t expect the Yixing you knew to shamelessly share such a lewd interpretation of your offer.
“Excuse m-”
“Another time, [F/n]” he announced somewhat jauntily, a cheeky smirk on his face when he spoke.
You sighed, reaching with your arm to cover your eyes in defeat, and let out a tired whimper.
“You’re impossible” you muttered. “Truly impossible.”

Chocolate Strawberries
Genre: Fluff, Idol AU
Pairing: Baekhyun x reader
Word Count: 1758
Summary: It never occurred to you that the fan who keeps sending you gifts is someone you know.
A/N: Requested by a lovely anon! Hope you enjoy! 💕
✾ Link to Masterlist
“Y/N, another delivery for you.” One of your managers came in with a huge bouquet of your favorite flowers and a large pink box with a card attached to it. “Yah, eonni. What did he send this time?” Your members all gathered around you, looking at you holding the gifts cluelessly. You rolled your eyes at them, “Who said it’s a he?”
“But it’s so obvious! ‘Your number two fan’ here only buys you stuff a guy would buy for his girlfriend.” One of your members Hyeri pointed to the card enthusiastically. “And what’s up with that name?”
“Yah, Hyeri. Be nice.” You swatted her hand away and opened the box delicately, oblivious to the amused glances your members exchanged between them.
Your jaw dropped when the last film of the paper wrap was discarded. Inside the box were the prettiest, most delicious-looking chocolate dipped strawberries you have ever seen in your entire life. From your peripheral vision, you see Hyeri grabbing Minnie’s arm.
“Oh my god, isn’t this-isn’t this from that chocolatier in Cheongdam? I heard they ship the chocolate directly from Belgium. This box must cost like 200 thousand won.”
You stared at each delicately decorated strawberry in awe. You would never have guessed that your fans would be buying you things like this. How do they even know you love chocolate strawberries? It’s not on your official profile online, and you doubted that in the past anyone talked about this on TV. You picked up another card and opened it. Different from the printed one attached to the box, this one was handwritten.
“Please eat a lot, I assure you they taste good. I will be waiting for your performance tonight, fighting!”
The side of your lips curved into a smile at the heartwarming message and a cute smiley face in the end. But you were saddened knowing that there’s probably never a chance for you to find out who they are. Your mind jumps to all the other gifts your fans send you every year, not that you don’t appreciate the clothing and bags from luxury brands, but somehow it’s the daily flowers, the coffee, and the anonymous food truck last time that left a deeper impression on you.
“Y/N Eonni.” Hyeri shook your shoulder gently, breaking you out of your trance. You stared at her in confusion before noticing all of your members battling their eyelashes at you in expectant gazes. You rolled your eyes and sighed, “Go ahead. Take some. Just leave one for me!”
The box was already snatched away by your members looking at the strawberries like hungry wolves. You chuckled and shook your head. These kids.
Two hours passed with makeup artists and stylists working on your group for tonight’s ceremony. You all waited until your manager ushered you out to line up for the red carpet. It’s still a surprise to you how many fans your group was able to have with only three years after debut. When the MC passed you the mic on the red carpet, you answered with a smile, “We all feel so honored at the amount of love our fans give us. Thank you so much for the support, and we will work harder in the future.”
You greeted other idol friends inside the venue and many sunbaes in the industry. You were directed to your table at the left end of the first row when Hyeri pulled you by the arms and whispered in your ear, “Eonni! We are sitting next to EXO sunbaes!” You looked to your right, where EXO is being directed by staffs to their tables. Chanyeol, who sat closest to you gave you a smile and a small wave. “Hi, Y/N!”
His greeting brought the attention of other EXO members, you quickly bowed down and tried to hide the blush creeping up your cheeks. Safe to say, you’ve seen quite a handful of good looking people since you were a trainee, but EXO members still take your breath away every time. You remember Hyeri whining one night putting on a sheet mask, complaining how Oh Sehun’s skin is a hundred times better than hers.
Out of EXO, you knew Chanyeol and Baekhyun the best. Chanyeol because you have been co-MCs before for an award show, and Baekhyun because you two are writing a collaboration together. However, all of your previous interaction with him had been a short 10 minutes meeting and back and forth texts.
“Y/N ah, you look pretty tonight!” Baekhyun casually leaned on Chanyeol’s shoulder and winked at you.
“Um...thank you, Baekhyun sunbae! You look very handsome too.” You weren’t sure that you and Baekhyun have moved past the stage of formalities, but seeing him so nice and friendly calmed you down a bit. Somehow you feel more nervous interacting with him than everyone else. Ever since he said on a live broadcast that he’s a fan of your group and specifically you, it was harder for you to face him in award shows and events together. Maybe because of his popularity and how your group is rising quickly in the charts, EXO and your group’s seatings have been next to each other since then.
Tonight was the same. You tried to play it cool, but your members told you that he kept glancing your way every three seconds instead of focusing on the performances. Finally, when you turned around out of curiosity, you met his eyes that shined brighter than ever in the dark lighting. You quickly turned around and pretended to watch the performances while you poked Hyeri. “Is he still looking?”
Hyeri nodded enthusiastically. She gave you a mischievous smile and leaned closer to you, “Eoonni, Baekhyun sunbae is definitely into you. Didn’t he say that he’s your number one fan on live TV?”
You pushed her off, ”Stop saying nonsense. There’s no way.” She only shrugged and went back to look at the award show. However, you can’t help but think about Baekhyun. It’s not like you haven’t watched fancam videos of him reacting to your group’s performance. And he hasn’t been exactly subtle about his gesture when the camera turned to him at your part every time.
You quickly pushed it away. Patting your hot cheeks, you mentally slapped you for thinking about him. Baekhyun is just nice. Everyone knows he’s nice. Don’t overthink, he’s like this to everyone.
The rest of the night passed uneventfully. After your group’s performance, you dragged your tired bodies back to the table. There was nothing more you want than slumping down into your seat, but you are the leader, and an idol image to keep. You turned to the right when someone poked you slightly and met Baekhyun’s crinkled eyes.
“Take this,” He dropped something light in your palm, you looked down and stared at the strawberry flavored candy. “Girl groups never eat. I don’t want you to pass out before the night ends.”
“Thank you sunbae-” Baekhyun waved you off and opened a bottle of water. “We are going on stage in a few minutes, so cheer for me ok?”
You blushed when he said me instead of EXO and thought back on him exchanging seats with Chanyeol earlier. Fixing your gaze at Baekhyun on stage, you were deep in your thoughts again. When the award show ended, you were dragged away by your manager before you could even say goodbye to Baekhyun.
“Do we have more schedules tomorrow?” You asked your manager in a tired voice while wiping the makeup off of your face. Your face lightened up immediately when he told you it’s a rest day, and your members immediately began talking about where to eat.
“Oh, Y/N. Come here, there’s someone who wants to meet you.” You frowned slightly, who would want to meet right now? It wasn’t until your manager pushed open EXO’s dressing room that you widened your eyes. What are you doing here?
“Coming!” A voice called from inside which you recognized distinctively belonged to Baekhyun’s. You sighed, no wonder he’s the main vocal.
Baekhyun came out in his casual clothes with ruffled wet hair and a snapback. “Hey, let’s talk somewhere else. It’s too loud here.” You pretended not to have noticed Chanyeol’s suggestive glances your way and the amused expression on your managers’ faces. You followed Baekhyun mindlessly to an empty dressing room and jumped slightly when he closed the door behind him.
You gulped nervously, this is the first time you two are alone. Your fingers fidgeted behind your back when Baekhyun broke the silence first.
“I watched your performance tonight. Good job on getting two awards!”
You thanked him once again. He sat on a chair and pulled out a notebook. Waving you over, Baekhyun said, “I’ve been thinking about the lyrics to our collab. I had a bit of time in the past few days and wrote some verse, do you want to read it?”
You took the notebook from him. However, his handwriting intrigued your attention more than the lyrics themselves. Why does his handwriting look so familiar to you? Like you’ve seen it many times.
“Are they good? Do you like them?”
You looked up to a zoomed in face of Baekhyun. You didn’t know that he had leaned down as well, and the sudden closeness caught you off guard. You leaned back quickly and tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.
“Yes sunbae. Your lyrics are really nice. I think it would fit the theme really well, and I think maybe on the bridge, we can add something different?”
You and Baekhyun managed to talk some more about the song. His phone dinged, and Baekhyun sighed, “Sorry, I think I have to go now. I wish we can talk more, let’s set up a meeting sometime, ok? I’ll text you.”
You nodded, watching Baekhyun standing up and adjusting the cap on his head. You wanted to ask him about his handwriting but refrained from letting the words out of your mouth. It wouldn’t be appropriate anyway.
“By the way, Y/N. How was the chocolate strawberries?”
“Huh? Wha-” Your eyes widened as your heart took a flip.
“How...how did you know?”
Baekhyun waved his notebook slightly. “I’m sure you can tell.” You froze. Oh my god, the Byun Baekhyun is actually the fan who has been sending gifts to you?
Baekhyun smiled amusingly as recognition took over your features.
“Didn’t you hear? That idol Baekhyun from EXO is your number one fan, so...Byun Baekhyun can only be your second.”

Wǒ huì yǒngyuǎn ài nǐ (我会永远爱你)
Pairing: non idol! baekhyun x reader
Genre: soulmate au
Requested: Nope, I’m making this for my friend because I appreciate and love her uwu but you guys can request as well~
(def.) i will love you forever
[7:48 PM]
Class was over before you know it, which was relieving since you only had one class that day which meant that you would be able to contact Baekhyun. Speaking of said boy, you decided it would be appropriate if you got him a gift since he drive you to class so you wouldn’t be late.
Looking around a small shop, you found a small keychain that had two figures attached by a single red string. It was perfect since it was how you two met and it wasn’t overwhelmingly expensive to cause such huge burden on him. Smiling at the small gift, you went to go pay for it.
“That’s such a thoughtful gift. There’s a legend that if you gift your soulmate something that has to deal with the red string of fate, the couple will end up together forever with no obstacles in the way,” said the shopkeeper.
Looking at the shopkeeper in surprise, you asked if any couple had returned said item because it didn’t work out between the two. Shaking their head, they replied that none of the couples had returned the item assuming that it went well between them. Having high hopes for the keychain, you paid for it and called Baekhyun.
It wasn’t long before he drove up right in front of you, showing off his perfect smile as he rolled down the window. “Get in, I’m taking you out to eat.” As you got in his car, you looked down at your outfit and then back at him. “I’m not properly dressed to go out to eat.” Smiling at you, he shook his head. “You look absolutely wonderful. It’s nowhere fancy, just enough to fill you up. What do you have in your hand there anyways?” So much for hiding the gift from him.
“It’s a gift for you actually. I wanted to thank for what you did earlier today. I would’ve been extremely late if it wasn’t for you.”
“A gift, for me? You shouldn’t have, but thank you. I really appreciate it.” His smile made your heart flutter and your face blush deep shades of red. How did you get so lucky with a guy like him? Most people would have to search far and wide for their special someone, but Baekhyun was someone that lived in your city and the chance of meeting your soulmate in the same city as you was very slim.
“Here we are! I come here all the time and the food is pretty good. Pick whatever you want and I’ll pay.”
“That’s very kind of you, but I can help pay as well,” you said holding up your wallet.
“A girl that fights for the bill, it’s like you were made for me. A girl definitely after my own heart.” He had a grin on his face, just like when you first met today. It was something that you could never forget.
“I mean, we are soulmates. I would hope that I should be the only one after your own heart,” you replied jokingly before sitting down at a table. The place was extremely beautiful and not too fancy. It was simple yet elegant. Just how you like it.
Time seemed to fly by really fast during your dinner date with Baekhyun. Was it really a date though? You two haven’t even established if you were dating or not, but your thoughts were interrupted when he dropped you off in front of your apartment. “I had a wonderful time with you, soulmate. I hope you did as well because I hope we can do this again and I can properly call you my girlfriend. I don’t want to rush it, if that’s alright with you? I want to get to know you better, find out what makes you happy and what makes you tick.”
Yeah, you definitely lucked out with him. He was perfect in every way.
“I’d love that.” With that, you kissed him on the cheek and bid him goodnight.

A Work in Progress
This was a draft that I never got around to finishing until I was moved by all the support you guys were giving me...AND IT’S STILL NOT ACTUALLY COMPETE but I figured I would “talk” you all through the ending LOL Read on and you’ll understand.
Oh, and happy holidays!
“I would move a mountain for you.”
The tears started flowing and she couldn’t stop them. An ache settled deep within her chest as the book she was reading began to get blurry before her watery eyes. She lived for the pain and angst of romance novels, but she could never live through the misery of unrequited love herself.
“Sona?”
Speaking of...
She felt heavy fingers brush through her fine hair as the naked body behind her began to stir.
She wiped at the tears with the heavy sheets. “Hmm?” she asked, though her voice squeaked at the end.
“Sona, are you crying?”
“No,” she lied, even as she craned her neck back to see the sleepy demon prince rise from his sleep.
He rested his chin on her shoulder as he watched her with concern in his eyes. “What happened?”
Sona shook her head. “Nothing. Go back to sleep.”
“It’s not nothing if you’re crying.” He grabbed her by the waist and turned her around so she was resting on his chest. “Now tell me what Kai, the mighty Prince of Hell, can do for you.”
She rolled her eyes in amusement but closed her book to settle closer to him. “I was just reading a book.”
“Ah,” Kai murmured as if that told him everything. “What happened this time? The dragon ate the knight in shining armour and now the princess has to marry the big, scary beast?”
She cut him a look. “No, worse.”
“Worse?” he asked in an exaggerated voice. “What’s worse than being forced to marry a dragon?”
Burying her face into his chest, Sona took a deep breath. “Not knowing if the one you love loves you back,” she whispered. “The hero is about to die and he thinks the heroine is in love with somebody else. All he wants is for her to feel loved and do you know what he said just now, right as he was about to take his last dying breath?” She punctuated her words with tiny jabs at his chest.
Kai was tracing little circles along the back of her neck, comforting her. “What did he say?” he asked softly.
“He said he would move a mountain for her.” Sona sniffled and squeezed her eyes shut to hold back the tears. “A whole mountain!”
He let her wallow in her own sorrow for a moment. She clung to his chest, relishing in the comfort he provided but also wishing she could finish her novel at the same time. There was quite a bit left and she knew there were twists and turns around the corner. She just had to get through those to reach the happy ending.
Sona felt the little scoff that came from Kai. She rose her head and narrowed her eyes, daring him to laugh at her emotions.
He didn’t look at her, just continued to watch the spot on her shoulder where he drew shapes and lines. “He said he would move a mountain? Just one?” The corner of his lips kicked up as he gave her a sly look. “I’d part the seas and move a whole mountain range to create its own island if my woman wanted it.”
She snorted and laid her head back down. “This isn’t a competition.” She began tracing her own little drawings on his palm. “Besides, he’s a human, Mr. Mighty Prince of Hell. You’re not allowed to compare your powers to us.”
“You’re a pretty strong human yourself, Little Miss Wicked Witch of the West,” he teased. “I’m sure you could move a mountain or two yourself if you wanted.”
“I just got lucky at birth,” she said, referring to her ability to cast spells that influenced the weather. Then she thought about how her abilities got her to this place, running from her King straight into the arms and bed of the “enemy.” “Or maybe I got unlucky,” she mumbled with a shrug.
Kai gave a deep sigh but he kept his mouth shut. Sona knew how much he hated it when she disliked her own powers, but she had only started learning to contain the self-hate.
Growing up, Sona was raised in a kingdom of humans, where everybody was the same and nobody knew about the supernatural. Then her mom gave birth to a daughter who, at the age of 6, could ask a cloud to rain upon her mother’s crops in the middle of a drought that had originally caused a mass famine.
At first, the villagers had been frightened of Sona...until hunger took over and they knocked on her mother’s door to ask for rain on their own lands.
Though her mother had started with lies, saying there was no such thing as magic, Sona saw the desperation in her neighbours’ eyes and gave the farmers some rain during the night when nobody could see.
Her village flourished and things were great as Sona grew older. There was only one summer where officials were suspicious. It was hard enough to grow produce on the side of the mountain, but Sona’s mother was bringing carts and carts of crops to the market everyday.
After they had a suspicious official search their home, Sona knew she couldn’t overdo it with the weather anymore. She kept low until a second drought hit her kingdom years later.
The new King had heard of the remarkable growth of Sona’s village and sent soldiers to interrogate the people.
She didn’t like to think about that day because it was the last time she saw her mother before being dragged away to the King’s court.
There, her powers were honed and abused. She was locked up for days until she could cause floods that filled all the rice paddies, till she could bring the sun out in the middle of the night.
And she was forced into an engagement with the King.
It wasn’t until one of her guards saw her plans for an escape that he helped her leave the walls of the kingdom. She walked for days and days until she came upon a town inhabited by what she thought were monsters.
She remembered blacking out before waking up to see Kai’s face.
“What are your plans for today?” he asked, changing the subject and pulling her out of her reverie.
She smiled to herself, thinking of the past month where he patched her up and introduced her to a spellcaster in his outcast town who helped build her skills. Kai was the leader of this town on the other side of the mountain and she grew to love him day by day.
Which was why she wasn’t surprised when he told her he was a demon prince, banished from hell to live out his life on Earth.
Sona played with the chain around his neck. “I think I’ll go visit Mr. Oh this afternoon and bring his family some cake. It’s his grandson’s birthday.” Mr. Oh was the spellcaster who was surprised by Sona’s powers and excited to work with her. He was like a father figure to her. “What’s this?” she asked, pointing at the clover on Kai’s chain.
“It’s the protection charm you gave me,” he explained. She had given Kai a coin with a protection spell on it the day Mr. Oh had taught it to her. “I didn’t know where to keep the coin so I got it melted down into a clover and attached it to my neck. Now I won’t be able to lose it.”
She felt a smile cracking through her lips. “I like it.” She leaned up to give him a quick kiss on the lips.
He rolled her over to deepen it. “You’ll like this too.”
Sona moaned as a hand skated up her side, brushing her nipple in a tease.
And this was where her conscious fought with her.
The relationship she shared with Kai was so perfect, yet neither of them knew where they stood. When she had first climbed into his bed, it was like a magnet had brought them together. After that, they were unable to spend a night apart. And during the day, she longed to be close to him. She wanted to share all her thoughts and ideas with him.
But she knew his greatest wish was to go back home. Things were difficult on Earth, especially in a town where it rained often. And many days were a gloomy grey. In the middle of a week of rain, Sona broke her own rules just to part the clouds and let the sun peak through a bit.
She didn’t realize her heart would be the one to warm up when she saw Kai watching her with awe and pride.
So, selfishly, she tried everything she could to make him happy. She wanted him to stay despite knowing it was futile. He deserved to go back home, where he could be treated like the prince he was.
And where humans weren’t allowed unless they were dead.
---
OK I’ve let this “first chapter” sit here for a long while and I’ve tried to come back to it but I can’t so here is the rest of the plot:
The next day, they wake up to their village being seized by Sona’s kingdom’s army. Kai fights them and wins, but a soldier named Baekhyun finds Sona. Baekhyun is the one who freed Sona in the first place so even though Kai is like “WTFFFF IMMA KILL YOU,” Sona is like “lemme talk to Baekhyun.” Baek is like “yo, I admit defeat but like...you gotta come back with me to your kingdom.”
Kai is pissed.
Sona (the reasonable person she is) asks “why?”
Baekhyun: If you don’t, the king is gonna burn down the whole kingdom.
The kingdom is on the other side of the mountain. The inland side, so it doesn’t get much rain.
In comparison, Kai’s village is on the side of the mountain that faces the ocean and therefore gets hella rain.
The proper term for all of this is “rain shadow.” For reference, think of North America’s Rocky Mountains LOOOL
ANYWAY, Sona’s kingdom is dying once again because it’s a desert and only she was able to grow FUCKEN RICE IN A DESERT. So the king is calling her back or else he’s gonna set fire to a kingdom of starving people.
And why is Baekhyun so worried? BECAUSE HE’S GOT A GIRL BACK THERE ;______; He was ready to wife her!!!!!
Sona is like “nooooo :( moral duties!”
Kai’s like “FJKDALGHDKALFJDKSLJFDKALHGDKLSJ YOU CAN’T GO.....OK I KNOW YOU WANNA GO REALLY BAD BUT...JFKDALGHKS ok but like I’m coming.”
Sona’s like “no the humans hate demons. they’re gonna kill you :(((((((((( This is my fight.”
Kai’s like “LISTEN. TO. ME. LINDA.”
Ofc he has to be heroic and shit so Sona’s like “FINE. But you are only gonna be chaperoning me. I am NOT risking ur ass by taking you into a kingdom that hates anything ~magical~”
Kai agrees but more like “k watever”
ANYWAY, THEY GO.
Here is where I had a dilemma LOL I wanted them to go on a motorcycle because KIM JONGIN IS SO HOT ON A MOTORCYCLE LMFAO but why would a demon from a poor wittle village have a motorcycle....
So in my head, they rode on some motorcycle thingy that had a big black cloud veil and whatnot while Baekhyun rode his horse with the other nearly-dead soldiers behind them lol
They arrive at the kingdom and Kai is pissed af because he’s worried :( Yeah I hate when men do this because it’s a really bad way to channel your emotions but men are dumb and never change ALAS!
They get in a big fight and Sona has to leave to go into the kingdom while they’re still angry/ignoring each other.
Kai is all haughty and fuming, waiting in a tree and shit while he watches Sona be escorted past the gates of the kingdom....and the moment she is gone, HE STARTS REGRETTING EVERYTHING LMFAO
jokes on you!
Sona agrees to whatever the king says (idk what he says, lol my imagination didn’t care about this king) BUT THE KING GOES BACK ON HIS WORD BECAUSE HE’S SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT HIS KINGDOM IS PERISHING DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES OUT OF HIS CONTROL YET EVERYBODY THINKS IT’S HIS OWN FAULT so he sets fire to everything including himself. I feel like his brain’s going “If I can’t rule this kingdom, THEN NOBODY SHALL!”
He dies, but his orders were to have soldiers scattered around the kingdom so that once the king’s castle was lit on fire, these soldiers would know to start fires in their own places too.
Thankfully, they’re not ALL dumb as shit. Some decide that this is actually a bad idea, so they help evacuate whoever they can.
Ofc, our heroine helps too :’) She brings whoever she can out past the gates and then tries to bring some rain from the ocean.
While she’s working, she realizes that Kai is not at their meeting spot. She doesn’t see him at all, actually.
She’s scared but SHE HAS WORK TO DO!
So she’s all busy concentrating on bringing the rain past the mountains (she cannot gather enough water from the land around her to create a mass of precipitation because it’s a desert.......yes, i think about these things too)
BUT SHE’S STRUGGLING CUZ BITCH, THESE ARE SOME BIG MOUNTAIN RANGES AND IT WASN’T MEANT TO RAIN FOR ANOTHER MONTH.
Then she sees Kai running towards her carrying a whole cart of people (indeed, our man found a CART!)
She’s about to call him but then he runs back in and she’s like “OMFG I’M GONNA LOSE HIM” but that thought only stays for a split second cuz she still has to get the rain over here lol
The fire’s basically burned down the kingdom at this point. Kai has brought out many people (he’s fine in the fire because he’s a demon AND he has a cute protection charm hehehe) but then he sees Sona struggling and he looks up and sees the dark clouds forming on the other side of the mountain.
Guess what he does?
biiiiitch
Sona is like “O_O” when she suddenly looks over and KAI IS PUSHING THE MOUNTAIN RANGE OVER.
biiiitch he did that!
Rain pooooooooours down the mountain and starts dousing the fire. Problem is, everything is suddenly dark and the ground is slippery lol DIDN’T THINK OF THAT, HUH?
So they’re still scrambling to get survivors out. Towards the end, Sona is helping a family out when suddenly she slips because she’s human and there’s mud everywhere. Her ankle twists and she just sits there for a second as she sees Baekhyun call off the search. It’s been hours and everyone’s exhausted.
Kai turns back and starts walking towards Sona, and she’s shook because 1) HE’S HOT AF and 2) his eyes are blue and his hair is white...sound familiar??
THIS IS THE PERFORMANCE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-VX60sGRjo) THAT STARTED THIS WHOLE STORY IN MY HEAD LOOOOL SUCH A GOOD FANCAM! SUCH A GOOD LOOK! DO YOU SEE THAT CLOVER ON HIS NECK? YUM!
Anyway, he takes off his hat and holds out his hand with a smirk on his face and goes “Did I move enough mountains for you?”
JFKLADHGDKALFJDKSLGHDKALJFDKSL imma punch him
He pulls Sona up off the ground and sees that shes limping and suddenly drops his smirk. She’s like “no, it’s nothing” but ofc Kai has to be heroic and shit so he picks her up and VROOM VROOM they go off in their motorcycle back to the village LOOOOOOOOOOOOL
The whole way back though, they’re silent but for different reasons. Sona is hella sad because she’s sooooo in love with Kai but knows that she’s just drawing out something that’s gonna end badly. She wants to protect her heart, ya know!
Whereas Kai....has different reasons :)
So we get back to Kai’s place and Sona is washing up while Kai just sits on his little settee. When Sona’s done, she tells him to go wash up but he just grunts.
We love grunting. Why? CUZ HE’S BROODING?
WHY IS HE BROODING? DIDN’T THEY JUST SAVE A WHOLE KINGDOM?
Sona is thinking the same thing LOL but Kai directs her to lay down on the settee (isn’t it dirty, Kai??) and props her foot up on a couple pillows.
“Why do you still look like this?” she asks in a whisper, gently fingering through the strands of white on his head.
(a/n: sorry I had to /write/ that part out because it sets the mood a lot but DAMN i wanna barf at my own writing LOL just imagine everything is warm and candlelit, and Kai is attentively catering to Sona while she lounges on the settee)
Kai doesn’t meet her eyes. Just shrugs.
Okkkkkkk so obviously it’s a sensitive topic???
She continues to comb through his hair cuz it’s cute. And because he’s a wittle puppy (see: demon prince from hell), HE BREAKS WHEN SHE SCRATCHES THAT ONE SPOT ON HIS HEAD.
He grabs her wrist and takes deep gulping breaths.
Meanwhile, she holds her breath.
“I was banished from hell for not taking a mate.”
Her brows furrow and she starts to sit up but Kai pins her down with his hands. His blue eyes reflect the fire in the hearth.
“It was during mating season, and everyone was in a frenzy. My father found a girl for me. I remember she was so scared when she was brought into court.”
Kai takes a breath. Sona uses her other hand to stroke his hair, offering whatever comfort she could.
“I couldn’t do it.” He choked on his last syllable. “I couldn’t do such a horrible thing to a little girl who had screamed and cried until her voice was gone. They brought her to me when she barely had any fight left in her.”
Kai put his forehead against Sona’s shoulder. “Mating season meant you lost yourself. You had the hair and eyes of your inner demon, along with its mindset. But I refused to do anything to the poor girl, so I hid her away and sent her to the outskirts of the land.”
Sona let out the breath she didn’t know she was holding. “You did what was right,” she whispered.
He shook his head. “She couldn’t go back to her parents who would sell her again. She didn’t have anywhere to go. I was banished before I could find her again.” His body was shaking with grief. “She could be dead because of me.”
Sona cried for him. Cried for the man that tried to do the right thing and still had everything turn out wrong. Cried for the young girl that had no choice in what was done to her. Cried for the fact that Sona herself could not turn back time and undo all of it.
They stayed like that on the settee—Kai crouching on the rug in front of her—for what seemed like hours.
When he rose, his eyes were bloodshot and glassy.
Sona pushed him toward the tub, insisting he’d feel better after having a wash.
He came out looking ragged still, but cleaner. He took a seat on the ground in front of her again, staring into the fire.
“So it’s mating season for you again?”
He nodded. “It comes every five to seven years. That’s another reason why my father banished me. He needed an heir and I was unwilling to produce one, so he turned to my next brother.”
“You don’t seem...” Sona searched for the word, “animalistic to me.”
Kai shrugged. “I don’t like to let the demon rule me. It’s hard to control my body once instinct takes over.”
“I see.” She stared at the ceiling and fought a blush creeping across her cheeks, trying not to think of all the inappropriate things Kai would do to her if “instinct” had taken over.
Except, he wasn’t letting it, was he? He didn’t want to have sex right now. He didn’t want a mate right now.
Sona tamped down her disappointment and put on a smile, turning her head to look at him. “Well, if—” She bit off her sentence with a squeak when she saw Kai’s blazing blue eyes staring back at her.
His nostrils flared. “Why do I smell your arousal, Sona?”
She opens her mouth but closes it again when he rises above her.
“What are you thinking about?” he asks in a growl.
That just made the ache between her legs even worse. “I-I was just wondering about the demon side of you.”
His eyes glinted and she swore she saw fangs as he cracked a devilish grin. “What would you like to know?”
“Oh, just general stuff.” She waved her hands in the air. “Like what you eat in Hell, how you communicate with other demons, how you—”
He cut her off by pressing the calf of her broken ankle against the back of the settee. “How we mate?” He hiked up her nightgown and grinned at the sight before him. “Keep your bad leg still and I’ll show you.”
Sona almost came just from the hunger in his eyes, but she snapped out of her haze and clamped her hands down between her legs. “No.”
Kai blinked and looked up. “No?”
“No,” she bit out. Her body was so ready, but she couldn’t keep hurting the both of them like this. “I can’t mate with you.”
The fire in Kai’s eyes died as he backed away, still holding onto her leg so it wouldn’t drop forcefully onto the pillows.
Talking felt like pushing lead from her throat. “We can’t do this anymore, Kai. We are torturing ourselves.” She took a deep breath. “You have to know that I love you so much and you are the best person I’ve ever met, but I can’t be the right mate for you.”
A line set between his brows. “Why not?” he bit out.
“Because I can’t be what you need. You need a queen to go with you into Hell and run a whole Hell-dom there. Someone who can bring you back home where you belong, where your powers can flourish.” She couldn’t stop the whimper that followed. “Not a human who holds you back on Earth.”
His thumb stroked her calf, a kindness she didn’t deserve. Her heart was breaking into two and he was still her providing comfort.
Next thing she knew, he was kissing her. Gently on the cheek at first and then slowly grazing her lips.
“Kai,” she whispered between pecks. “Didn’t you hear what I said?”
“Mhmm,” he nodded. “So do you want to be my mate?”
“Kai!” She pushed against his shoulders.
He caught her hand and kissed it. “I heard what you said and I still want you. I want you whether you can come to Hell or not. It doesn’t matter, because I feel at home when I’m with you.”
Sona shook her head through the tears. “That doesn’t make sense.”
He kissed her, hard. “If I left this village, would it still feel like a home to you?”
“Of course not.”
“Would you go back to your kingdom?”
She vehemently shook her head.
“Then where would you go?”
Sona licked her lips. “I...I don’t know.”
“Me neither.” He kissed her again, crawling between her legs. “I would try to find you. I would want to be with you for the rest of my life, if you would have me.”
She wrapped her good leg around his waist. “Then please take me.”
He chuckled and nipped her on the shoulder. “Then promise not to move your bad leg.”
(THEY DO IT)
OK that’s enough /writing/ LOL so they do the dirty and suddenly they’re mated and Sona’s ankle is healed. Why? BECAUSE SHE GOT SOME POWERS FROM HER MAN. And Kai suddenly has a purple aura around him and he can move a couple clouds with just a thought. How? BECAUSE HE GOT POWERS FROM HIS WOMAN.
And they can both transcend into hell cuz she’s no longer human-human, CUZ WHY? CUZ SHE’S GOT A DEMON BABY BAKING INSIDE OF HER MWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
the end.
ok now it’s time for a quick shameless plug :3 Red Velvet came back so of course I had to cover it! Please check it out and give us a like if you can :’’‘‘)

✨Romance, angst, fluff, Doctor/Hospital AU
✨Baekhyun x Reader
✨One-shot
Arms leaning on the windowsill, an extremely soft and gentle breeze caressed your cheeks, proceeding to rustle nicely through the strands of your hair. Outside, the sun shone ever so brightly, it's vitalizing light gave any trees and plants a more vibrant and lively color. The scenery reflected limpidly on your blank and lifeless eyes.
You had never once in your life thought that you'd be here, in a hospital room, feeling obnoxiously jealous of everyone and anything that was outside these four walls. Compared to your location, there was life outside, no matter where you looked, you'd be met with a different color splashing into the palette of your life. That reality could never compare to the white box you were living in, the white sheets of your hospital bed couldn't even equal to the slightly tickly but soft feel of the healthy, green grass under your skin.
It pained you to think that there was a chance that you'd never get a taste of the fresh scent of nature or more, get to run your fingers across the beige walls of your longed home, tears welled at the corner of your eyes when you wondered whether you'd really never get to step back inside your own house. Teeth dug into your lip, what would it become of you if you were to stay in your room and breath disinfectant for the rest of your life?
The strongest part of you surrendered to this dull destiny that consisted of different nurses and the same doctor coming into your room every day to give you your meals and daily check-ups. But the calm and accepting part of you was slowly starting to suppress under an exploding frustration, the roots intertwining around of your heart were starting to catch fire, burning all of your humble self into ashes, until there was none of it left. While the four white walls consumed you, you felt yourself become more and more of the same, dull material of your depression.
Leaning away from the windowsill, you let your back sink into the clothed mattress, a sigh leaving automatically your lips as if you had been straining yourself by just watching the world outside. It exasperated you. Your medical condition was making you become a whole different person, or at least, that was what it felt like. You had never been so tired, so lifeless. Hence, you remembered yourself as a cheerful person whos favorite thing was to make your friends laugh and smile. But you had no energy left in your bones, there was no will power left inside of you, all you did was sitting, wrapped in those white sheets. It was like someone had ripped a plant off the ground and accidentally gotten the root along too, giving it no chance to ever grow back again. Empty. You felt empty.
You had always thought that it wouldn't be worth it to try to make things different. It wasn't like things were going to get better anyways. People said that smiling would, in the end, heal your hurt soul, and for a while, you believed that. Seeing others give you back that sweet smile of yours, it did help you. It made your heart bloom all over again as if there would be a flower growing out of the snow. You couldn't deny it. And yet, when your conditions started to worsen, the smiles on their faces started to look forced, hurt, sad, until they were nothing but a brokenhearted frown. When things had looked like that, there had no longer been a single muscle in your body that wanted to curl your lips into another forced smile, for that would cut you even deeper.
Letting go of your many thoughts, you brought your gaze around the room, not that you would find anything new, but somehow, those bottled feelings of exasperation and loneliness started to develop into a will of change, a strong, strong urge to do something different, it wouldn't matter whether it'd be bad, wrong or right, you had to do something, and now. For some reason, your eyes landed on a bottle of soap placed next to the water tap. You lifted a cocky brow at the sudden thought that had just passed your mind but didn't refuse it. In a swift movement, your hands had already swung the cover off your legs and your knees were bending over the bed, feet dangling slightly while you lowered them to the ground.
A fresh chill ran down your spine when your toes curled against the cold floor. Your weak ankles wobbled ever so slightly when you dragged yourself over to the sink and successfully grabbed the bottle of soap, your back hung over the metal counter while heavy breaths were escaping your parted lips and you couldn't help but need to take a break even though you had strained yourself so minimally.
After catching your breath you moved on to stand a few centimeters away from the door, casually screwing up the cap of the soap. Without a second thought, you turned the bottle upside down, letting the clear fluid fall onto the gray floor, watching its way of expanding intensely. Then you placed the bottle back on the sink and proceeded back to your bed, the heavy respiration of yours never leaving you until a good amount of minutes. You questioned your actions a few times, it was definitely a bad thing. You shrugged, well, what's done is done.
Half an hour passed quickly thanks to your deep thoughts and imaginations, and by that time you heard how the knob to your door twisted, it was probably a nurse, you were sure of it. You could see the brown, curly head peek from the door as the woman was on her way to step inside. The way her foot flew in the air as soon as she had entered your room surprised you, your eyes grew big with bewilderment. You had totally forgotten about the soap that you had poured on the ground.
The nurse let out a scream of helplessness as she while flinging her arms tried to avoid the fall. Her other leg made a very odd movement that managed to save her and in a miraculous way she regained her balance. Her legs were wide apart in a half crunched position while her hair had gone wildly into every direction. You filled your cheeks with air in order to stop the laugh from erupting from the deepest of your throat. The thought that this happening had probably taken away ten years of her life made you want to burst into laughter. You knew that you had just done something very childish and disrespectful, in fact, on one side you felt guilty for having done that to someone innocent. But at the same time, it felt almost good... Or better, refreshing to have done something naughty, something that you weren't supposed to do. It filled you with a sense of thrill that you couldn't help but love and long more from.
It was something that you hadn't felt for such a long while. It was wrong and mean, but it had given you something more. It had made you feel slightly more alive.
The nurse's face grew fire red within seconds and you saw it written on her face that she wanted to leave. Her eyes grew teary and in hasty movements, she attempted to leave, but not before falling dumbly on her butt. Picking up herself quickly, she slammed the door behind her.
You wondered if she had even understood that it had been your mischevious doing.
✨✨✨
For some reason, you found doing bad things slightly addictive and enjoyable, the first time you pulled a prank on a nurse, you had never expected it to be so fun, neither had you expected yourself to do it again. It had been a very spontaneous thing, but now, you couldn't just help the urge to cause some trouble in that lifeless room of yours. Frankly, you had had enough of the constant seriousness that other people had in your presence, you absolutely hated it.
That's how it started to become a bad habit. Pulling pranks on your nurses and doctor, making them trip or asking them to do the absolute oddest things for your entertainment. You hadn't expected them to do whatever you asked since you had always made sure to ask the most ridiculous things. And yet, you always got what you wanted. It was fun. Though, after only a week, your fun was to be stopped when you got a call from your mother.
She was furious. To say that she scared you was an understatement. Your mother was with no doubt a beautiful, strong and respectable woman, and for that reason, also very scary when needed. The way she had almost turned you deaf when you first pressed the speaker against your ear made you imagine that she had probably heard about all the dumb scenarios you had been pulling on the hospital staff that took care of you. Bracing yourself for the strong hit you let your mother rant about how bad of a person you were being. A little did you thank God that she hadn't been able to come and scold you physically.
"You are despicable! These people are not there to play around! Every day they humbly take care of you and your scarce health and how do you repay them!? With this!?" She paused to take a deep breath, starting her next sentence in a calmer voice, yet you could hear the disappointment dripping from her next words.
"This is not what I taught you, Y/n. I am deeply disappointed that you are humiliating these persons after everything they are doing for you. I hope you think about your actions and remember what respect is." Her words were deep and they cut you inside. You felt frustrated although you had no right to. You knew damn well that you were doing a mistake, that now, there was no nurse or doctor left for you because all of them had been scared off. With such behavior like yours, anyone refused to come. You had brought this upon yourself.
Yes, yes, yes! Your mother was right, she was right about everything she said. And yet you couldn't help but feel the fire of anger erupt within your chest, violent and untamable as if you hadn't deserved to be scolded. For some reason, you felt neglected and misunderstood. She hadn't even asked you the reason behind your actions, she hadn't asked about how you were doing, so she wouldn't understand you, right?!
Nobody did.
Small crystal tears welled in your waterline, a lump forming in your throat as you did your best to not let out the loud sob threatening to erupt from your lips.
You just wanted to live, why didn't anyone try to understand that?
All of a sudden, you heard the doorknob twist, the sudden noises sent your heart into a painful jump, your trembling hands immediately flying to your slightly red eyes, drying them from any possible tear.
Your heartbeat was still racing, crashing violently against your ribs while you watched an unfamiliar man walk inside your hospital room. His pure white gown flew ever so gently behind him as he made his way next to the bed where you were lying in. His silk-like hair was just so outstandingly beautiful, every strand catching the rays of the sun as his bangs fell softly in a half on his forehead. His eyes: soft, almond-shaped chocolate orbs staring onto his informatic papers, giving you a view of the beautiful way that his long eyelashes kissed his cheeks, casting a long shadow on his face in the orange afternoon sun. Skin as fair as moonlight, lips velvet-like peachy cushions.
The young man had done nothing but walk in and had already radiated an aura to which your body had felt drawn to like a magnet. Your gaze wouldn't waver from his beautiful features no matter how much you wanted to, admiring every little detail against your will. Even the way his milky and long fingers wrote something quick on the papers looked so elegant and astonishing. But when he raised his gaze and met yours, you realized how those things weren't anything on how every star of the night sky resided within his eyes, for a mere second you felt as if you had been stargazing.
You quickly sent the thought away, not liking the way your strong feelings of anger had suddenly died down in his presence.
"Is it Miss Trouble Maker we have here?" The man asked although it sounded more like a statement. On his lips played a sweet and friendly smile that you didn't want to give into, his honey voice was just as alluring.
"And who may you be?" Instead of returning his smile, you answered with a grumble and a frown on your face, though, he didn't seem to care about it that much as he dragged a chair next to him so that he could sit closer to you.
"Oh, of course, I'm your new doctor, Byun Baekhyun. Nice to meet you." He introduced himself professionally, offering you his hand to shake. You hesitated for a second, but looking at his beautiful hand you couldn't help but place your slender one in his, just to see if his skin was a smooth and velvety as it seemed to be from afar.
"Why would I need a new doctor?" You questioned, unfamiliar with the current situation as you hadn't been informed about anything.
Doctor Byun flashed another kind smile, though, you caught the glimpse of mischievousness in his eyes as he spoke his next sentence.
"As you may have noticed my dear, you've to say the least, scared or pranked away every one willing to take care of you. But quite not everyone, because I am sitting here." He finished off with a soul healing chuckle that you'd love to replay in your head.
"However, you may not expect me to give in to your little doings, Miss Trouble maker," Baekhyun warned without letting his friendly voice waver at the same time as he offered you a beautiful smile. You felt as if he had just mocked you, and since you had the pride to defend, you turned your face to stare at anything but him. "Whatever." You muttered under your breath, not being able to to find any retort that could break his professional behavior. The doctor nodded contently as he placed his agenda and other seemingly important papers on a desk that he had a nurse bring him, on it laid various medical tools organized neatly just for this occasion.
As if his every movement was one of the most beautiful and mesmerizing dances you'd ever seen, one of those that would put you under a dreamlike spell, you couldn't stop yourself when your eyes gazed at him gently grabbing the stethoscope around his neck to place it in his ears. His eyes met yours from under his lashes and you felt heat paint your cheeks into a deep, scarlet red when you realized that you'd have to lift your shirt for him.
"You may lift your shirt, miss." The sentence was firm and short, and yet, he spoke it with such a velvety voice that you felt your hands stop at the hem of your shirt. You had no reason to feel so conscious, the young man wasn't even eyeing you, he was a doctor, he probably saw millions of different backs every day because of his job. Shaking the silly and shy feeling away, you gave him exposure to your back and chest.
Baekhyun placed the stethoscope mildly on your back, although the metal was ice cold on your skin, though, the thing that gave you shivers was the tiny hint of his warm fingertips meeting your body now and then. Your heart was racing like never before, for some inexplicable reason, and the most embarrassing fact was that he could hear all of it. The doctor removed the stethoscope from his ears and hung it back around his neck after hearing your heartbeat from different angles of your back and chest. So serious, you thought. His eyebrows met each other on his forehead in a concentrated frown as he wrote down the results of your health.
"Your heart seems to be in high spirits today, however, as your past documents recommend aswell, you should strain yourself the less you can, alright?" Heat radiated from your cheeks at the hidden teasing in his words, and yet again, you couldn't find it in you to say anything against him, so you just nodded quietly.
"Perfect, then, today's check-up is over, I'll see you later," Baekhyun announced while gathering his things in his arms as the same nurse from before hurried inside to get the rollable desk she'd bought in for the doctor. Before heading outside he sent you a radiant smile that would easily make the sun look it had no shine, and you remained mesmerized for the hundredth time that day. A part of you tried to convince yourself that you were annoyed at him, while deep down, the words "I'll see you later," made your heartthrob excitedly inside of your chest. You hoped he would true to his words.
✨✨✨
6 PM, the usual color of the sky was now fading behind the sun set's luminous orange and hot pink brushstrokes that melted into the soft, soft clouds. The sun was peeking ever so slightly on the line of the horizon, you started it calmly while thinking that perhaps, these past few days with the new doctor hadn't been bad at all. You quite enjoyed his company even though it would mostly be for short moments. It made you think that perhaps, there weren't only bad things to happen in this painful living of yours.
To your surprise, the door opened and the person who had just been in your thoughts appeared from behind it, it was your dinner time, rightfully so, he brought with him the last meal of your day. You guessed how this was one of the last things on his schedule, judging from the way his hair was messed up in a way that screamed 'I had a long day.' The wrinkles on his blue suit told you he hadn't been sitting down for a second the whole day. Your teeth dug deeply into your lower lip to try to suppress away the smile that would give away the fact that you were happy to have him there.
Baekhyun placed the tray with your food on the table by your bed gently, yet you could see the hurry in his movements as well as the small crystals of sweat forming on his temples.
"There you go, have a good meal." He said shortly before he had even finished pronouncing the words, he had already turned around to leave. Yet you surprised yourself by grabbing the hem of his gown, making him halt in his steps. Baekhyun gazed at you with a slightly confused expression. For a moment your mind turned blank and the blood in your body heated up, threatening to reach your cheeks. However, you successfully covered the nervousness up by innocently cocking your head to the side.
"Do you still have much left on your schedule?" Somehow, the words seemed to strike some sort of realization in Baekhyun and he proceeded to turn his body to your direction, scratching slightly his nape.
"Ah no, I've been in a hurry the whole day, I guess it ended up getting to me." He admitted tiredly, the fading light of the sun enhanced his exhausted features. You didn't know where the courage came from, but you suddenly felt a sudden confidence buzz within your veins as you asked him: "Then, why don't you have a seat?" Baekhyun seemed a little bewildered by your offer but that surprised disappeared soon as his eyes softened sweetly and his lips curled into a gentle smile.
"I guess it wouldn't hurt." He accepted, dragging the usual chair he'd always use on his check-ups with you next to your bed, facing the big window and immediately getting lost in the colorful painting that was the evening sky, falling into a peaceful silence. From the corner of your eye, you stole a glance at his profile, only to feel your breath hitch away at the beauty of the way that the sky's colors reflected on his perfect and milky skin, you were mesmerized, his long eyelashes glittered in the light and his relaxed expression set a relief to your chest that you had never expected to ever feel.
"I heard that you pulled another prank today." Baekhyun broke the silence and simultaneously woke you up from the infinite daze he had pulled you in. Now, he was looking at you instead, the intensity in his gaze made you feel minuscule in your seat and the slight disappointment mixed with anger visible in his expression made you feel embarrassed and ashamed like never before. Your hands clamped together in your lap while teeth dug nervously into your lip, your hair was like a curtain that gently covered your troubled expression. For some reason, you'd never care whenever someone scolded you about your bad doings, but when Baekhyun brought up the topic you'd always wish he'd just go away, you wished he wouldn't have to see your face washed with shame.
Your sweaty hand clasped around your forearm as you turned your head in his opposite direction, murmuring lowly under your breath, "Yeah. What about it?"
He frowned at the sudden cold shoulder that you were giving him but didn't take it personally. A sigh left his lips as he faced you with his body and although you were still refusing to answer his gaze, he kept looking at you, as if he was trying to figure you out, your reasons, or simply understand what went through your head. Even if you weren't looking at him, you felt his gaze burn into your skin, heat gathered on your pale cheeks as you felt completely immobile in your spot, afraid to turn and look at him, afraid to have your heart explode, to have it turn into something new. Baekhyun's eyes softened upon your stubbornness.
"What makes you act like that? Your condition is poor, why would you use such important energy to do something unnecessary?" Within his velvet-like voice danced sincere emotions of confusion and frustration, like he couldn't understand why you would do such things no matter how hard he tried. Like he hated seeing a patient become self-destructive.
A strong part of you refused to open up, but there was something even bigger within you that wanted him to comfort you, a will to get closer to the young man that pushed your lips open until delicate, hurt feelings manifested through your voice.
The sun had by now gone down, leaving as a light source only the pearl white moonlight, your meal laid untouched where Baekhyun had placed it.
"I- I, It's like I'm dead, every day, although I breathe, although I eat and drink, I'm dead. I'm alive, but I am not living. And...And I just tired of it? Okay?" The more you spoke, the more your of your bottled up feelings spilled out and Baekhyun watched you carefully, taking in every expression, every word that you spoke, and movement that you made and treasured them.
"Pranking others, I know it's bad and that I could easily not waste that energy. I'm probably going to come off as silly but... When I do it, at least people don't look at me as if I'm a dying person, they look at me as if I am something more, even though it's not in a good way, even though they're thinking I'm no more than a brat, those hateful glances, they give me way more life and thrill to see them again, than a painful expression of someone I know, that they're pitying me." Your voice trembled along with your words, it wasn't easy to say this, a little were you ashamed of your doings and you were afraid that your reasons were going to make you look like a fool in front of Baekhyun.
Unexpectedly, you felt a pair of soft fingertips wrap ever so gently around yours, followed by a warm palm covering now your whole hand. Your eyes flew to Baekhyun's as you watched him in pure surprise. Something bloomed in your chest, you didn't know what, but you knew that in that dark pit that was inside of you was suddenly enlightened by a little seed of hope that had with his touch bloomed into a beautiful flower, it's beautiful, soft petals tickled your chest and butterflies fluttered their wings inside your belly.
Baekhyun's eyes reflected the night sky and its millions of sparkling suns and you felt yourself fall deep into his determined orbs.
"Then I will help you live again, I promise. Besides, you need to try and stop cause trouble. I will let you do anything you want, is it going outside, or receive certain meals, I will let it happen, but you have to cooperate with me, what do you say?
His intense gaze never moved from your now eyes that trembled with small diamonds of tears that crystalized into your eyelashes.
You weren't sad. Those had been a pair of words that nobody had ever spoken to you. And the way they gave your heart life again, it could never be compared to what pranking gave to you.
"Okay." You breathed, and for the first time in years, you felt something that wasn't the smell of disinfectant, but a refreshing scent of wood and musk together with roses, that filled your senses and seeped into your skin together with the warmth of his hand upon yours.
✨✨✨
After that late-night talk with Baekhyun by the moonlight, pranking and causing trouble had quickly lost the appetizing feel that it gave you, what had caused it was a little thought that you liked to bury within the deepest corners of your mind, however, no matter how much you tried to ignore it, it would always bubble up and you couldn't stop that.
You didn't want him to see you as a childish trouble maker.
Nevertheless, you still hadn't completely let go of of the bad habits, such as disobeying and doing things that weren't the best for your health. Originally, you weren't allowed to step outside of your own, the poor condition that your bones were in didn't permit you to walk that far. However, you had started to feel way more energetic than you had ever done in a few years, and you felt like a small walk in the hospital's garden wouldn't lead to you dying, so it should be fine; you thought. Although you continuously tried to deny it, you knew that this sudden strength in you had come thanks to a certain doctor stepping into your life, stirring up within you a certain curiosity, a reason to continue waking up the mornings, to experience the daily check-ups that you had secretly started to long for so much every day.
With his soft voice and gentle smiles, with his way of talking to you familiarly, as if he'd known you longer than you had. The first meet had been very professional, however, through the weeks he kept coming closer, deeper into your mind and without knowing you had almost given away any burden and thought that weight on your chest. It had been stronger than you, his way of listening so intently, his way of always having something relieving to say, something to make your heart feel lighter, made you want to tell him everything about you, just so that his lips could continue speaking words solely dedicated to you and your blooming heart.
Feeling the fresh afternoon wind caress your delicate strawberry red cheeks spread a wide smile on your lips as you inhaled deeply the cool air into your lungs, you let your gaze wander on the immense sky, loving the way it was starting to slowly turn into a soft pink.
A sudden clearing of throat interrupted your peaceful thoughts and you felt your heart almost jump out of your chest when you realized that your little escapade had just been busted, for a second you felt as if your feet had been glued onto the ground, body iced and rigid, until the person behind you spoke: "What in the world are you doing out here?" Your shoulders visibly relaxed at the familiar voice and you weren't afraid to face your doctor you were pretty happy to get to see him, on the other hand, he didn't seem happy to see you here himself. Baekhyun was standing just a few meters behind you with his arms crossed over his chest. His heavy breathing and flushed cheeks told you that he had been running, looking for you. Eyebrows met each other into a frown on his forehead and he looked, to say the least, agitated.
In a matter of seconds, he had already started walking closer, the anger radiated from every inch of his body with his hands balled into tight fists, and not to mention the loud and intimidating steps he was taking towards you.
"You!" He started but eventually cut himself off, as if he didn't know where to start his scolding. Although he was angry, you couldn't help but love the sweet flutter in your heart that tickled your chest from inside, the intense gaze that his worried eyes had locked you in, you loved it all, but what he was going to say next, those were words that you were going to love even more.
"You weren't in your room and I got so worried and scared, where in the world have you been?! I've searched through the whole hospital like an- like I don't know what! We're going back this instant little Lady." At the end of his speech, Baekhyun had with great forced grabbed your hand to take you back to the hospital room, however, before he had been able to take a step you had already tugged your arm back, causing him to stop in his tracks and look at you with wonder and frustration.
"I was hoping I could go to the rooftop...Well, it wouldn't be bad if you tagged along too...Obviously." You murmured, the shy words brushing over your lips in a whisper, and Baekhyun couldn't help but let his heart soften at the view. He sighed defeated as he changed direction to where you had asked.
"Y/n, I know I said I would let you step out of the hospital but you know you have to be with a nurse during those times! What if something happened to you? I don't want to know what it would be of you if your condition suddenly worsened when I or someone with knowledge wouldn't be around, do you understand how dangerous it is for you to go alone? I am saying this for your well being. Why can't you just do what I tell you?" Baekhyun sounded more than just exasperated, tired of telling you the same things over and over again. You knew as well as Baekhyun how things could go if you strained yourself too much, your tachycardia wasn't a joke. You felt a tiny flash of guilt bite at your chest when you realized the seriousness of your actions, slowly having fear consuming you too, it grew bigger by every second without you being able to stop it.
"I am sorry, Doctor Byun. I won't do that again." By the time, the two of you had already reached the rooftop. Baekhyun was facing you with his back as he looked at the enlightened miniatures of the city visible from behind the railing, but your words made him turn around. You didn't dare to look at him in the eyes, there were millions of thoughts running as fast as ever through your mind, telling you that you were such an immature person for not taking your illness seriously. That Baekhyun would never accept someone who doesn't know how to value their own life after he's been doing everything to make them better. Your right hand was tightly clasped on your left forearm as you cast your eyes anywhere but at him.
"I've been careless and I am really sorry, please don't be mad at me Doctor Byun."
"Hey, hey," His voice came from above your head, his shadow cast upon you as he spoke with a tone that you had never heard him use with you before. His voice was thin and careful, a delicate whisper to make sure that he wouldn't hurt your fragile feelings. His warm hand spread on your shoulder before disappearing, just to a second later, land on your soft hair.
"I don't scold you every day because I like being mad at you or because I want you to feel bad about yourself. But because I want you to realize that your life is important and there are are a lot of people who worry about you. I included. And if you do those things like sneak out, you will make me and many other people worried" All you could do was a nod at his words, he looked content with the simple answer as he graced you with a reassuring smile, one of those radiating smiles that showed his pearly white teeth, one of those smiles that felt fresher than the crisp morning breeze. The smile that made your breath hitch inside of your throat.
"Come watch the scenery, it's really outstanding today." Baekhyun encouraged you to stand next to him by the railing, in fact, he couldn't be more right. The orange sun was disappearing behind the eventful city who had dancing lights anywhere you'd look, its tiny shape resembled the starts of the sky from where you were watching.
"Doctor Byun?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you have something in your life that makes you do things that are unlike you?" It was a sudden question, but all the thinking about your actions, about how much you had changed by doing these bad things in the span of a few days, it made you wonder if Baekhyun also had something in his life that made him different. He remained silent for a good moment before answering, his gaze attached to the view that reflected so clearly in his glass orbs.
"I guess I do, in its way, it does affect me." He finally said, the answer was so distant and abstract that you couldn't hold it when you asked him about it.
"Really? In what way?" Baekhyun's lips curled into a slightly painful, yet sweet smile.
"Well you know, there is something very important in my life right now, something that I want to face, though, its sole thought is taking away all of my courage, really, like never before. I've never felt so vulnerable in front of a situation my whole life." A little laugh followed his words, it was the most insecure laugh you had ever heard and although you couldn't be happier that he had just opened up to you, you couldn't help but worry about the slight pain that flashed through his eyes when he spoke about it. You couldn't accept all the insecurity that had radiated from him, Baekhyun that in your eyes was someone so worthy of anything he'd desire, him who was so kind and caring, him who was an angel. You couldn't stand to watch him lose to his self-doubt.
"Doctor Byun!" You called, gaining his gaze that had been on the scenery until now. His startled, worried orbs trembled when he snapped his face into your direction. Your index finger pointed at him as you felt determination buzz like electricity through your blood, through your veins, blue and red flames suddenly flashing in your deep oceans.
Look at me.
Hear me out, listen carefully.
Look at me,
watch me sparkle with life.
"Doctor Byun, you're not allowed to make that face! Do you hear me?" You made sure to yell out the words, although he would've heard you perfectly even if you hadn't, that wasn't the point. You didn't want him to only hear them, you wanted them to shake his heart.
"I believe that all of us has to at one point face the thing that will change our whole life, our world. It's okay to be scared, it's normal to be. We all love it when things don't change, because we're afraid of it, of developing. However, you shouldn't let your insecurities bring you down Doctor Byun, I won't forgive it if you do that. You've done so many amazing things! You've healed people, you've saved lives, you've saved mine...You made me live again, and if you don't value how amazing you are, then you're being a fool! Even if you're scared, you will face it, and you will succeed, I'm sure." Your words seemed to soften a spot inside of his heart as he gave you a heartbroken smile.
"How are you so sure?" His voice broke the slightest while he let the disbelieving words roll off his tongue, however, it wouldn't lessen the burning blaze that had erupted within you. You took a big step towards him.
"Because you did with me. You took me, a person who had just given up on living, and shook up the desire to continue waking up day after day. I was a lost cause before you came, but here I am, on my own feet and using all of my precious energy to tell you that tomorrow you will go to whatever you are supposed to face, and you will come back with a victory in your hands. I who have lost every hope is now believing in you, so you should too. There's no way someone like you can't make it." Your chest heaved visibly as breaths left your lips quickly one after another, sweat drops sliding slowly down your chin as you spoke out your heart out to the man in front of you. Baekhyun looked shaken and taken aback by your sudden burst, he hadn't seen that coming. But before you knew it, his eyes had become crescent, shining moons and a hearty laugh bubbled from the deepest of his chest.
"Whaat, what is this all about? You act like a delinquent, but you're actually a little angel." His hand landed once again on the crown of your hand, caressing your hair, a movement in which you felt an enormous amount of affection radiate from. A touch that had caused your heart to blissfully tremble with fully bloomed feelings of love. You couldn't help the little squeeze in your chest when the doctor scrunched up his nose in the most adorable way ever before curling his mouth upwards.
"Thank you," He then spoke under his breath as he let his hand slid down your head, only for it to fall next to his side. When he met your eyes, the pained expression that had been shading his features was now gone, replaced by a delicate and fragile smile, "Thank you Y/n, a part of me won't admit it, but I really needed those words." Your feelings couldn't be expressed in any other way than through the brightest smile that was curling on your lips, in fact; the brightest smile you had ever mustered, just for him, just so that his heart would feel as light as yours when he'd be in your presence.
"Of course-" Way through your response you felt your breath suddenly hitch inside your throat as a sharp pain took place in your head, feeling your ankles struggle to hold up the weight of your body. With the world spinning violently for short seconds that felt like painfully slow minutes, not knowing whether your heart was stopping or throbbing by the fear. Your mind completely lost the grasp around what was happening. You felt two strong hands take hold of your shoulders before you could fall, the moment his hands came in contact with you it felt as if everything started falling right into place again. Your arms automatically circled around his shoulders as your chest heaved heavily, startling breaths, fingers clutching his gown into fists, the sensation of falling creeping up your legs all over again.
"Hey, hey, It's alright so let's calm down." Baekhyun's voice came as a murmur in your ear as he caressed ever so gently your back, the warmth of his fingertips trespassing the texture of your shirt, his soft movements had a calming effect on your frantic heart. Baekhyun's lips were parted as he breathed slowly and loudly for you to follow, and bit by bit you were able to steady your breath to the rhythm of his. Although you were able to quickly gather yourself back together, the seriousness of the situation started to kick in for you, and you felt your insides squirm by the fear, strong anxiety suddenly engulfing your heart like fingers clenching around it until it throbbed. Baekhyun was just about to ease your hold around him but on reflex, your hold tightened before you could think through your actions. In his embrace, there wasn't a single bit of you that didn't feel safe, with his comforting hands running comfortingly down your back, with his fresh scent that put your mind to ease. The thought about having to let go, to have your legs almost give out again, it scared you
"Y/n." Baekhyun called, "We need to get you inside, come on, I will support you." He encouraged, knowing that if you'd stay outside and strained yourself, even more, the situation might turn into something worse than a sudden moment of unconsiousness. Your trembling grip made him feel fearful and worried himself, but he had to suppress it deep down, for you. His arms slowly left your shoulders and in a swift moment, the panic was already taking over you, wide and teary eyes following frantically his movements while your hands clung harder onto him for desperate safeness.
"No please, please don't let go of me, I'm going to fall-" Your voice felt like thick syrup in your throat as it struggled to come out, although your feet were standing fine on the ground, the fear of your body falling under them, just for your legs to never work again, you couldn't even find it in yourself to imagine what your life would become like if it were to happen to you.
Baekhyun's hands cupped your cheeks, bringing your confused orbs to stare into his own.
"Look at me now, breathe," He ordered, voice steady and loud so that he could reach you through the panicked state you were trapped into, you did as he said. "I'm going to get you back to your room, so don't worry, you're not going to fall. You're perfectly fine, you just need rest, okay?" The touch of his warm palms spread on each side of your face made it easier for you to reason, and so, with heavy breaths still escaping your lips, you nodded.
With a stronghold of your shoulders, he brought you back to your hospital room, where you were destined to rest for longer than you'd ever wish.
✨✨✨
Morning made itself present through the sun rays that shone so warmly through the curtains, the soft singing of the birds tingled your ears pleasingly. Hours had already past since you had woke up and your usual breakfast laid untouched on the table next to your bed. The only thing you had managed to force down your throat had been the steaming hot black currant tea they'd always serve you. Lately, the appetite you had in the morning was nowhere in you and you felt your strength leave you bit by bit, day by day, to the point where eating breakfast was almost too much of an effort. It was almost a physical feeling when the energy fell through the crack of your hands like sand. Your arms felt weak and so did the rest of your body. It had been almost two weeks since the time on the rooftop, although Baekhyun had said that you were going to be fine, your condition worsened in the blink of an eye. A part of you wondered whether your time was starting to reach its end, but you didn't want that to happen, you didn't want to believe a fear that wasn't a possibility for you just yet, however, the thought was bound to cross your mind.
At the usual time of the day, the doorknob twisted and a rather, unusually happy, Baekhyun peeked behind it, his crescent moons shining as you'd never seen them do before. After closing the door behind him, he sang you a good morning and sat in front of you where he'd always do.
You hated how everything around you became more and more beautiful, more lively, while anything you had left in you seeped out as if it was being sucked out of your soul, leaving you pale and strengthless. Specially Baekhyun, who's smile became more radiant day by day, making you feel alive yet more distant from him than ever. As if he'd be the epitome of life and you the death.
"Did something great happen? You look like you're in an excellent mood today, doctor Byun." You questioned not being able to stop your smile upon seeing his beam that reached his ears. Baekhyun was always cheerful, but to see him in such high spirits today, it had to be because of something. You hadn't imagined that his smile could've gotten wider, but it did at the question that you shot him. He was shining so brightly, so beautifully so, that he looked younger today. It was as if the sun was locked up in his smile, and every time his lips would curl, you felt your heart bloom blissfully.
"Yeah, something really great happened, and honestly, I owe it to you," Baekhyun admit as he grabbed the stethoscope and placed the earplugs in his ears. "If wasn't for what you told me on the rooftop, I probably would never have found the courage to do what I did."
"I'm glad I could help." You smiled sincerely, from the earnest of your heart.
Baekhyun gestured for you to lift your shirt, however, you gave him a troubled smile, knowing that with the little strength you found yourself with, the shirt would be up tomorrow.
Heat rose up to your cheeks as your eyelashes cast a sweet shadow down the apples of your cheeks, "Could you help me with that?" You asked shyly, not knowing where to put your gaze since looking at him felt too bold. Baekhyun's eyes widened with a slight surprise, yet, he was fast to react and gently grasped the hem of your shirt, lifting it ever so slowly, the soft fabric tickled on your skin when it barely flickered your back, though it was nothing compared to the cold ring of Baekhyun's stethoscope and the shudders it sent down your spine.
"Are you going to tell me what that big smile was all about?" You reminded him playfully while he casually moved the ring to different spots on your back to get a good hear of your heartbeat.
"Right!" He chuckled but quickly cleared his throat, as if what he was about to say was indeed something very big and important for him, for his life.
"I proposed to my girlfriend, and she graced me with a yes. The reason I was so afraid to do it was because we've been in a bad period, however, what you told me helped me see through that and I could finally ask her to make me the happiest man. Well, I feel like I've been floating on cloud nine ever since."
Proposed?
What?
For a whole moment you forgot how to breathe, your throat suddenly going dry as a lump closed up any room for air. The sharp pain that pierced your heart wasn't comparable to anything but bullets burning through your flesh.
You wondered if he heard the crack that broke your heart through that stethoscope of his, you wondered if he had never seen the love for him that your eyes carried whenever you'd look at him.
Somehow, you managed to make the choked up cry that left your throat sound more or less like a laugh, stretching your lips into that smile that he deserved to receive, even if hurt you more than you could have ever imagined, even if you had no will in you to even congratulate him. He deserved it, he was the most amazing person you knew, he was the person you loved. And he deserved to feel loved like he was now.
"That... That is fantastic! I am so happy for you Doctor Byun," You smiled as brightly as you could when you faced him only to have confusion fill you when you saw that Baekhyun wasn't returning the smile, not anymore, he couldn't just do that when there were tears running down your cheeks, tears that you hadn't even noticed had been gathering in your eyes.
"Y/n why are you-"
"Oh my, It's nothing, I'm just really touched and happy for you, Doctor, I wish you a happy continuation." Your hands flew immediately to your now tear-stained cheeks, wiping away the drops that wouldn't stop falling.
It's a lie.
It's not nothing. I'm dying inside.
You didn't know if what you said was believable or if you had been able to hide the pain from your face when those sorrowful tears were everything he could see. You wondered if he saw through you, you wondered if the fact that you were crying hurt him. Because if it did, that would have been another reason for your heart to keep falling apart as it was doing.
Baekhyun put aside the stethoscope on the table and dragged the chair slightly closer to your bed, the action made you anxious.
"Are you eating enough? Y/n, you look so tired, tell me, have you been sleeping well?" The topic was completely set aside with this, and the fact that all of the attention had been set on you made you feel humbled, you didn't know how to act.
"I've been feeling too tired to eat, and the nights are painful. I have aches and I can't sleep." You decided that you would only act and speak honestly, there wasn't much for you to do. Baekhyun looked mortified by your words as if the fact that you were suffering hurt him too. His eyes wandered over your features, taking in the signs of your pains, the pale skin, the dark rings under your eyes.
"If you don't eat, your condition won't improve, I know it's hard for you, but you have to keep taking care of yourself, you have to fight."
"I'll help you through it. I have your back."
His kindness was like a weak plaster on the broken parts of your heart, they healed your pain caused by his very words. But the fact that you hadn't been the one who got to treasure his heart, it made it fall apart all over again. It was as if the plaster had never been there.
I love you.
Being in love is beautiful.
But then why is it tearing my heart and soul apart?
You gave me life, you made me bloom.
Now I feel like I'm no more than a withering rose. My petals are falling.
If I don't have you, I have nothing left.
✨✨✨
five hours had already passed from the daily check-up with Baekhyun, the sky outside was starting to darken, and all you had been able to do was curl into a ball under the covers while the guilt ate you up alive. Your heart was throbbing painfully while for the hundredth time cussed yourself. How could you have started crying in front of him after he told you such beautiful news? He must have felt horrible. Making him feel bad had been the last thing you had wanted to do, and there you were, nailing it perfectly. A hopeful part of you wished that it hadn't been obvious, that your heart had broken into pieces. You hoped that Baekhyun wasn't smart enough to figure out the real reason behind your tears.
You eyed Baekhyun's stethoscope that he had left on the table by mistake, the past situation hadn't been the easiest to deal with, you'd understand if his thoughts also got scattered. With his many patients that he had to take care of, plus you who randomly starts crying in his face. It had never crossed your mind before- how much Baekhyun must have upon his shoulders, the health of hundredth of people, the care for his loved ones, the problems with his fiancé. Only at that moment, you realized how much of an egoist you were. Up until now, you had done nothing but care about your feelings, your love for Baekhyun, the way Baekhyun made you feel, more than Baekhyun himself. You realized that you probably didn't deserve his heart, that whoever was holding onto it, that person was more worthy than you and probably loved by Baekhyun for a reason.
A shaky sigh escaped your lips as you decided that you would do something better than to sulk in bed. In the least painful way you could find, you sat up from your laying position and let your legs fall from the side of the bed, your feet met directly with the fabric of the soft slippers, a rush of cold air gushed over your thighs when your fragile hands pried the covers away. Grabbing the stethoscope from the table, you made your way to the door. It had taken you five great hours to realize it, but probably, if you loved Baekhyun as much as you implied you did, then you owed him an apology for your tears. If you loved him, if this killing pain that stabbed your chest at the thought of having lost him before you had even been able to have him, if it was truly about love, then you should have remembered that love is not only about yourself, it's about both of you. It's about giving, indeed, what had you ever given him apart from an encouraging speech? Nothing yet.
So perhaps, it was time for you to start giving him your feelings, your smiles, and your heart. Although he loved someone else, he was the one who made you feel like your heart was still beating, like there was still blood running through your veins. He deserved your support.
With small and unsteady steps, you made your way through the now rather dark corridor of the hospital. It was in the early night, in other words, it was past every patient's bedtime. The only sources of light were the occasional emergency lamps by the doors as you squinted your eyes to make out anything in the little light that you found yourself with. There was a chance that by now, your doctor had indeed already headed home, but you figured it would be okay even if you just put what he had forgotten on his desk. The stethoscope dangled loosely between your fingertips. You had no idea of how long you had been wandering and slight dizziness was starting to tingle in your head. Nevertheless, you forced yourself to ignore the unpleasant feeling for you were positive that you had almost reached your destination. The corridor you were walking through was way more enlightened, semi-opened staff rooms from where warm lights peeked from the door opening, the soft murmurs hearable from where you were standing gave you relief in the heart. Although you had gone through those corridors so many times, the darkness of the night never failed to make them look as unsettling as ever.
Baekhyun's chuckle echoed from the walls of his staff room and the sound left you with a soft expression on your face, knowing that he was having a great time although he was probably exhausted after a long day made you genuinely happy for his sake.
A groan pushed through your lips when the dizziness from before turned into a penetrating pain that reached your vision, blurring anything that you had been able to see, any sound, including Baekhyun's comforting voice, the fact made the air disappear from your lungs as you with desperate movements tried to find the wall with your hands, however, before you knew it, the floor vanished from under your feet while all you could see was pitch black. Your heart crashed violently against your ribs in pure fear. All you could feel was your body slump together on the ground while you tried to take control of the situation and started inhaling deeply, slowly making your vision turn from black to smudged colors- until every shape and light fell into place again. Your heart was still drumming loudly in your ears as you looked around only to feel extremely comforted to see the same corridor as a minute ago.
Placing your hands on either body you tried to push yourself up again, it was being harder than you had thought, with a frustrated frown you tried giving a stronger push with your elbows, but your legs just wouldn't budge. Cold sweat started forming on your skin, dripping down your chin as you felt your arms tremble in weakness.
"Come on," You hissed at yourself, gripping your thighs for support only to have your heart stop beating completely inside of your chest before falling within the deepest pit of your stomach.
No
No this couldn't be happening to you.
Your lips quivered as tears glassed your view while you traced your shaking hand up from your thigh down to your ankle. Breaths were leaving your lips in panicked puffs the farther you slid your hands over your skin.
Nothing, you felt nothing.
"No," You cried, forcefully grabbing your thighs, digging your nails deep within your skin, hoping that your legs would magically start working again, wishing that you would feel the pain of your fingers pressing on your flesh.
"Please! Stand up, damn it!" You yelled, forgetting about the place you were in, hands balling into fists as you started directing them with all your force on your lower body, watching your legs get punched by your fists with wide, crazy eyes, not feeling a single thing. Salty tears prickled down onto your hospital gown as you couldn't stop the frustrated shriek that erupted from the deepest of your throat, echoing against the dark walls.
"Why aren't you working," You sobbed under your breath, losing strength in your arms, but continued to smash them against your thighs. Doctors were rushing out of their staff rooms, worried murmurs taking over the silence that was there before you screamed.
Baekhyun who had recognized the voice of the scream had been the first one to sprint out of his office, seeing you just a few meters away, throwing your hands at your legs made him feel confused as much as he felt a wave of worry crash into him, the intensity of the feeling made his heartthrob painfully into his chest and before he knew it, his feet had already moved on to where you were. As fast as he could he precipitated himself in front of you, knees bumping into yours as he forcefully grabbed your wrists to stop you from hurting yourself any further.
"Hey, what's wrong? What's going on?" Baekhyun hadn't been able to help himself when his questions came out as yells, but your mind was in a daze, nothing that was happening around you seemed to make sense, it was all an entire blur. The sounds were distant noises that you couldn't make out. The only thing you could think about was to continue taking the gasps for air before it would completely disappear from your lungs.
"Please, calm down-" Baekhyun tried although he knew that it would be futile, nevertheless, he continued trying to get you back to your senses, he wouldn't just give up on you like that, he had never seen it coming but seeing you in such a vulnerable state, with tears of fear that streamed down your pale cheeks and your lips gasping for air, it broke his heart and he would never forgive himself if he wouldn't be the one to take care of you. Whatever was wrong he was going to fix it.
Baekhyun's hands found your cheeks, his palms embracing the coolness of your skin, your face fitting perfectly in his delicate hold. His fingertips sent small waves of warmth down your body and you could feel your heartbeat starting to calm down, the white noise of your name being called suddenly started to become clearer. Your eyes blinked a few times before finally focusing on the man in front of you. Baekhyun's eyes were filled with worry and fear, it took you a while to realize that it was him who had been calling for you all of this time, that it was his hands that held you ever so gently as if you were as frail as the petals of a little flower.
"Doctor Byun-" You breathed out, feeling an enormous relief wash over you, your heart swelled at the view of his angelic face, as if his sole presence was your only salvation. Before you were to say another word, you found yourself facing his very chest as his slightly trembling arms held you tightly. You heard him sigh in relief, the warm air of his breath fanned the skin of your neck. There were too many thoughts, feelings swirling around your head, but Baekhyun's embrace was too comforting to try and sort out your thoughts, it was too warm to not give into. And so you let yourself succumb to his warmth and relaxed against his body, all the exhaustion caused by your actions was starting to get to you, your eyes slowly closing as you let slumber take over.
✨✨✨
Just like the past mornings, you found yourself staring tiredly up at the ceiling, eyelids heavy that longed for nothing but unlimited hours of sleep. But your body was restless, there were just too many scars that kept you awake. Although they were invisible, they still hurt, and the pain was stronger than what it used to be. The clock on the wall ticked almost seven in the morning and you sighed at the thought of another day spent in your hospital bed. It was hard to accept, but your legs weren't functioning as they did once. While you could not feel a single thing in them, many hours of your days were spent staring at your legs, desperately trying to remember what it felt like to feel them, to have them carry you anywhere.
The twist of the doorknob resounded loudly in the walls of your room, breaking the silence. Knowing it was another breakfast that you had no intention of forcing down your throat, you didn't bother to acknowledge whoever was serving it. Oddly enough, once the nurse had placed the meal at its usual place, you heard their footsteps coming closer over to your bed. With a frown on your face, you were to be surprised when two familiar eyes looked down on you from above.
"Doctor...?" As soon as you spoke, the confused tone in your voice made him chuckle sweetly.
"Good morning miss," He sang cheerily, you wondered where he could find that liveliness this early in the morning. "Guss who's feeding you breakfast?" Baekhyun said as he settled himself on a chair next to your bed, you gave him two raised brows as you sat up into a position that would give you the possibility to see him better.
"Feed?" You mumbled in confusion, Baekhyun only gave you a playful smile and stabbed a piece of scrambled eggs on the plate, directing it in your direction. You gently pushed his hand away, nuh huh, you thought.
"Don't be picky, this is good for you, besides, you haven't been eating well for a long time, it's time to fix that bad habit, little lady." Baekhyun stubbornly insisted and shoved the fork into your mouth before you could protest in any way. Your cheeks heated up while you forced yourself to chew and eventually swallow.
"Doctor Byun... It's a bit embarrassing." You murmured under your breath, feeling how your cheeks became even warmer, Baekhyun watched your cheeks become apple red and he softened at the view, placing the fork back next to the plate, proceeding to look at you deep in the eyes. His dark orbs held within them a pleading, they were begging you to give in to his words.
"Then, will you please eat?" You could hear it that he begged this because he wanted you to get better, his velvet-like voice and shimmering stars in his night sky-like eyes were enough for you to say yes against your will, you didn't want to see him look at you with desperate worry ever again. Ever since that time, you had promised yourself to worry Baekhyun as little as you could. So although eating was a hard effort, you gave into the look on his face and placed another fork of eggs in your mouth. A grateful smile tugged at his peachy lips, his eyes crinkling into crescent moons as he from that day assisted you into every meal of the day, to make sure that you wouldn't miss any chance for nutrition.
✨✨✨
A grin was plastered on your face and your heartbeat felt stronger than it had ever been, it was just eight in the morning and you would never have expected it but these past months, you had continuously found yourself waking up in the best of moods, and there hadn't been anything that could ruin it. You were proud of yourself as you had now, thanks to Baekhyun's help and efforts, started to make eating healthily a habit. Truly, you couldn't believe that you had ever resented eating in such a strong way, it made you feel stronger and full of energies, only now you could understand why Baekhyun had made such a big fuss about it. You were thankful to him for never giving up on you although you weren't easy to deal with. Now you didn't need your doctor to watch you eat anymore, because you had learned to be good to yourself, and did your best to become healthier.
For ten minutes straight you hadn't been able to do anything but steal glances at the clock, wondering when Baekhyun would be coming for his daily check-up, he was unexpectedly late, which he usually never was. The thought of seeing him made your heartbeat fasten in such a sweet way that you were sure your heart was pumping honey and sugar instead of blood. In other words, you couldn't wait to see his smile direct at you, brightening your day as the sun would never be able to do.
Half an hour past your check-up time the door finally opened, your smile immediately made its way on your face all over again, and a giddy feeling took over your chest, excitement buzzing through your body like electricity. However, your smile quickly died down at the view. Your doctor who would always present himself in a bright beam seemed to be long gone, to say the least, it felt as if there was a rainy cloud upon his head. In a second, your hopes for a nice day were suddenly crushed by the depressing aura that surrounded him. When you eyed the state he was in, your eyebrows met each other in the middle of your face upon seeing how his hair was uncombed into an untameable mess, his eyes blank yet dark and swollen, his orbs that always used to contain stars within them were now just a black, lifeless pit. His skin seemed no longer milky and smooth but lifeless and pale. Fingers tightened around your heart.
No words were exchanged as he quietly went to his seat and you speechlessly watched him.
Was that even the same person the came to feed you breakfast just a couple of weeks ago?
Your heart broke at the feeling of his ice-cold fingertips gracing your back as he moved the stethoscope over your back. The beaten condition that he had stepped in your room made you feel as if his mind was somewhere distant, somewhere you'd never be allowed to reach, he was unreachable. You wanted no more than to ask him what was wrong, but a part of you feared that the tiniest word would be able to break him.
Once he was done, he started writing down the results on his papers.
"You seem to be doing very well, your health is improving greatly day by day, keep it up." Baekhyun then announced as he placed the papers on his lap to look up at you, finally, you thought. After his monotonous words, he offered you a smile, which made your heart sink deep within your stomach, you could see how much he was forcing himself to stretch his lips upwards and Baekhyun himself was probably aware of the fact that it was never going to seem genuine, in fact it lasted a mere second since he realized how it looked more like a frown. You couldn't understand what was going on, what was going through his mind at that very moment, what was he thinking now that he adverted his gaze elsewhere? It was evident how he tried to avoid any eye contact, as if everything he was hiding would against his will, unravel with one gaze.
"Doc-" Before you could say anything, Baekhyun cleared his throat as he stood up, making himself ready to take his leave.
"Then, that's it for today." Those were his last words before turning around- but before he could take another step further from you, you had already grabbed the hem of his white gown and tugged it towards yourself, not giving him any choice but to halt in his tracks. Baekhyun continued facing you with his back as he waited for you to speak your mind. Teeth dug deeply into your lip until you felt the slight taste of metal spread on your tongue. He wanted to leave. But it wasn't because of you, you could sense that, that he didn't want to see anyone, that maybe work was the last place he wanted to find himself in, because he couldn't heal people if he was the one who needed healing- but his life couldn't give him that privilege.
"Doctor Byun." You called, voiced laced with determination and firmness to let him know that he couldn't run away this time. When you saw that he didn't budge at your voice, you let your eyes slid down his slumped shoulders, all the way to his tight fists. Without thinking twice you released his gown from your grip and proceeded to gently trace his hand with your fingertips while you with a soft murmur asked; "What's wrong?"
Your words faded into the heavy silence as Baekhyun didn't give you any sign of answering and an unbearable tension pressed on both of your chests, making you uneasy, nevertheless, you didn't give and patiently waited for him to feel ready and speak. After a minute a deep sigh tumbled from his lips, his fist loosened and you released the breath that you didn't know you had been holding when his fingers lightly twirled around yours.
"Maybe we could take this another time? There are many things I have to think about. Thank you for caring, and worrying over me...Y/n." It would be a lie if you said that you didn't feel slightly disappointed and rejected by his words, as if he didn't want to confide in you, as if you wouldn't understand. But you told yourself to be patient and wait for him. Deep down, you knew that Baekhyun trusted you, in the end, everyone had their ways of getting themselves together...And you couldn't expect Baekhyun to tell you everything right away- when he probably wasn't sure about what he was feeling himself.
You had no idea of how to respond other than a simple nod, that he for that matter couldn't see, so you just let your hand slid off his, placing it back in your lap. His hand closed back into the fist and he didn't spare you another glance before walking with heavy and lifeless steps out of your room, leaving you with thousands of sharp strings cutting through your heart.
What were you supposed to do to heal him?
You didn't want to be a simple plaster on his heart, you wanted to take care of him, to with care bandage his scars and comfort him until his heart's content.
Days passed and Baekhyun would always arrive more lifeless than the day before, that it pained you to see him like was an understatement, hence, every sad expression on his face was like a scar on your skin, you hated seeing him in such a weak state, but you hated not being able to do anything to help him even more. During the past few weeks, you had tried asking him
Baekhyun was currently writing down your results of a check-up while you secretly let your eyes wander around his every feature, taking in every sign of defeat on his face. Strong emotions started to suddenly surge inside of you and although you tried to suppress it, they were just too strong to be ignored. The frustration, the anger toward whoever had sucked his soul out of his body. Your nails dug deeply into your palms the more you watched the weak hold his delicate fingers had around his pen as he wrote, and before you had been able to sort your feelings out you had already grabbed Baekhyun's hand to stop him from whatever he was doing.
The doctor's face came immediately into your view as he stared at you with bewildered and confused eyes. There was a stubborn expression on your features, almost intimidating as you pierced your gaze through his. Baekhyun's lips parted as he tried to say something in the odd situation, though, no sound came out so he closed them again, not being able to look away from your magnetic stare.
"Doctor Byun." You started, "Seriously, What is wrong? I really hate to sound this forcing, but if you think that I'm going to sit just one more week and watch you end up like a zombie, then you're so wrong." You were tired of it, of sensing his heart crumbling into the smallest of pieces. It didn't seem like anyone was giving him any sort of comfort, judging by how quiet and reserved he had become, perhaps it was he who rejected any kind of help. Still, at the moment, you couldn't care less about the fact he didn't want anyone's help, because even if he'd reject your help in that instant, you wouldn't let him out of this room without making it clear that you cared for him and that if nobody was ever going to take that spot in his life, then, you would become his rock.
The surprise in his eyes was replaced by loneliness and only you then you realized that it wasn't a doctor who was sitting in front of you, it was a lost, heartbroken boy.
With a soft sigh leaving your slightly chapped lips, you forced yourself to calm down, knowing that rage wasn't what he needed at the moment. But taking hold of your emotion was harder than you thought, today when he was giving you that look- there wasn't a single bit of your emotion that wanted to settle into place. Blood reached your cheeks when you had unconsciously cupped his cheeks with your palms, you could feel the heat radiate in front of your face when Baekhyun's glanced at your hands before returning his astonished eyes to yours. The fact that he didn't shrug you off made your heart surge with hope as you swallowed the lump inside of your throat, preparing yourself for your next words.
"Look, I know that you're a doctor and that your job to heal people is very important, however, that doesn't mean that you have no right for healing yourself. You know, I may be no doctor myself, but I can see it, I can see that your heart is broken, that you're suffering." The words rolled off your lips as soft murmurs that gently reached his heart as the pad of your thumb absentmindedly caressed the apple of his cheeks. "And maybe it makes no sense to you, but seeing you like this, it hurts. A lot, so I'm begging you, please, let me listen to your worries...Baekhyun." The fact that you had called him by his name had a strange effect on you, a wave of shyness crashing on you while all of sudden you couldn't bear to hold his gaze when you had said those words to him, those words that in one way or another gave out your feelings from him.
Baekhyun gently took ahold of your hands on his face and with a careful movement brought them down to his lap, not letting go of them. Teeth drilled down into your lip when Baekhyun's orbs became glossy and his Adam's apple bobbed as he gulped, trying to find his voice for what he was about to tell you. Hesitation was written all over him and you wished he wouldn't be so afraid to open up, at least not to you.
"My-" Baekhyun tried but the crack in his voice made him stop in his tracks, a hand combed frustratedly through his hair, not being able to get the words over his lips. This was probably one of the harders things Baekhyun was going through so you didn't push anymore and waited for him to feel ready. Then, he let his head hang low as he finally managed to speak a sentence.
"My fiancé," Baekhyun took a shaky breath amid his sentence while you tried to ignore the way that your heartbeat drummed crazily inside of your ears. "She left me...She said that she wasn't sure, that I wasn't the one after all." Your heart broke when he choked on his words as he sobbed under his breath once.
"She returned the ring and left, and now I literally don't know what to do with myself," By now, your hands weren't in his hold anymore, instead, he ran his own across his face, keeping them there to hide the few but sorrowful tears. "Because I still love her." Baekhyun cried and you had to bite your tongue to keep your tears from falling. Seeing his back shake as he let his emotions out hurt more than to know that you would never be able to use your legs, to know that his heart would have never been yours. His lips pressed into a thin line, trying to stop his cries, but once he had let them out there had been nothing to stop them. All of these sentiments, all of these tears, they had been piling up inside of him for way too long and now he was a mess. "Baekhyun," You called softly, hoping that he would show you his eyes, but you didn't take to heart when he stayed in his position. Not knowing where the sudden audacity and courage came from you let your love for him take over the strongest part of you and you didn't hesitate to gently guide his head to rest on your collarbone as you hugged him closer to you, you could tell he was surprised by the sudden noise that left his throat but you ignored it, hoping it that with these few actions you would be able to soothe his griefs. Baekhyun eventually shuffled a little closer with his chair so he could lay his head on your shoulder.
Your hands were rubbing his arm soothingly while you deeply thought about what he had told you and you felt a sudden swelling take place in your heart, you couldn't put a finger on what it was but it made you speak words that were like a kind blow of air on his wounds.
"You know, even if this is leaving you with an ugly scar, I believe that perhaps, this wasn't meant to be and that's why it turned out like this. I don't want to be the person who tells you that this person doesn't deserve you, that she should get lost, because the fact that she left you means that said no to an unhappy marriage for the both of you. I am angry that she realized it only after your proposal because now I am watching you and I can see that it's killing you inside. "
"However, even this, this whole situation that is making you feel like this, it happens with a reason, just like everything else. I think that not all the bad things in our life are to cancel from our memories, they shouldn't be looked down at just because they made us feel unpleasant. Every period of our life, sad or happy, it's there to make us realize things, to make us grow. They're just as important as the happy moments. I think we can learn so much from our pains and mistakes."
In a swift movement, Baekhyun had leaned away from your embrace, just to look at you with incredulity painting his features as he let out a breathy "Wow," followed by a little chuckle that signaled how silly and slightly embarrassed he felt after showing you his tears. "When did you become so wise?" He had been fighting the smile on his lips but gave up on it very quickly and accepted the fact that maybe it was time for him to try and move on.
"Just because I'm locked inside of this room it doesn't mean that I have no experience in life," You cocked a playful eyebrow, secretly so relieved and delighted that the tension from before was starting to dissolve in the light conversation. Finally, you could say that the sun was making its way through your curtains again when Baekhyun gave in to the temptation of a smile.
Of course, you were aware of the fact that just because he seemed to be fine now, it didn't mean that his sadness was completely gone, because it wasn't. You were sure that his heart still throbbed and that there were more tears to be spilled behind his eyelids. He needed time. But you took the right to feel proud because right now he could look happier, and that was because of you.
Baekhyun glanced at the watch wrapped on his wrist and had his eyes almost pop out when he saw the little amount of time left before his next appointment. In a pure hurry, he stood up from his seat- messily grabbing his papers and stethoscope, almost having everything falling on the floor. Before leaving, he turned to you and curled his lips into the heartbreaking smile that would never fail to make your heart melt into a puddle as you felt a delightful warmth spread within your chest.
"Thank you," His voice was softer than silk and his words so meaningful, so delicate, as beautiful as rose petals in your palms. Although they were two very common words, you felt something lit up within you the moment they brushed his lips- you've had similar feelings next to him before, as if your withered bosom had bloomed all over again, with wines and plants twirling around your heart, small flowers blossoming on its edges, the soft, soft petals tickling your chest ever so sweetly. Except, this time, the feeling was so much stronger, so intense that you for a moment lost the reason. You didn't know what you were doing when your hands suddenly removed the covers from your legs, jumping off the bed hurriedly, so that you could catch up with Baekhyun before he'd leave.
Your toes curled against the cold floor but anyway you dashed with all you had in yourself toward the person that was cluelessly holding onto your heart. You wondered how you could ever tell him that you loved him, you had told yourself so many times that you had these feelings towards him, however, at this moment it seemed so hard to let them past your lips, as much as you wanted to, it was more difficult than expected. You couldn't hold that sweet emotion all for yourself anymore, you needed to let him know as soon as possible.
As soon as you were close to him, your hands strongly grabbed his shoulders to stop him from leaving, when Baekhyun turned around to see you standing in front him with a determined expression on your face as you took in quick breaths, he looked bewildered and confused, to say the least, neither of the two of you had really been able to understand what was going on at the moment. It was as if you had been trapped into a slow trance. As if only you and he existed in that instant.
Would it be childish of you to press your lips against his?
Before you had been able to care about anything that passed through your head, your palms had already cupped his soft cheeks, fingers gently holding either side of his face, the texture of his skin was warm under your touch, you hadn't noticed that it was because the heat that had been forming on his cheeks, the blush traveled all the way to his ears. Your eyes fixed themselves on the lower part of his face as your grip on his face became the slightest tighter, your toes lifting from the ground so that your height could match his.
Your eyelids shut tightly and before you knew it- you had crashed your lips upon his that were slightly parted in shock. For a second the only thing you had been able to process was the sweet sweet taste that came off his lips, the soft breeze from the window that for a moment seemed to scent like roses as it gently rustled through your hair.
Now you know Baekhyun, now you know that I love you.
The low noise of your lips detaching resounded in the air as you slowly let your eyelids lift, the curve of your feet falling against the pavement again. Baekhyun was in the exact same position he had been before you kissed him, though, you hadn't thought that his eyes could have widened more than they had, but you were proved wrong when his shocked and confused orbs moved from your lips to your bottom continuously. Eventually, he let out an enormous gasp- his hand reaching to cover his mouth, as if it wouldn't matter how many times he'd inhale, the view in front of him would never stop making him breathless.
"Y/n-" Baekhyun gasped once again, completely astonished by how you were looking at the moment, however, you were confused, well you had just kissed him, but you were sure that wasn't a reason to why he looked like he was about to faint. His index finger pointed at your legs as if he couldn't believe his own eyes.
"You're- You're standing up!" The exclamation brought you back to reality and you brushed your fists in front of your eyes to make sure you weren't dreaming. You were standing on your legs just like you had been able to do weeks ago, the fact made your breath hitch inside of your throat as you with wide eyes lifted your toes slightly to confirm that this was really happening. Your feet moved just as they were supposed to and you felt a screech bubble from the deep of your throat while Baekhyun let out an incredulous, breathy laugh followed by a small 'no way,'
Suddenly you snapped your face into Baekhyun's direction, the both of you eyeing each other with a mix of shock and incredulity mirroring in each other's orbs.
Baekhyun seemed to be the one who got to his senses first as he took steps toward you, only to pull you into the embrace of his arms. Butterflies spread their wings inside of your belly when you realized that your face was pressed against Baekhyun's broad chest and your heartbeat resounded like loud drums in your ears. His faded scent of aftershave suddenly filling your senses, your mind becoming extremely aware of every part of his body that was touching yours, making you feel as if you were on fire.
"I don't know how this is possible, but you're back to normal and I feel like this is all I needed."
If your health was what could make Baekhyun feel more like himself again, then, you would make sure you'd heal completely.
✨✨✨
Your hands smothered any wrinkles from your beige skirt as you halted in front of the glass doors of the enormous building. You had been in this place so many times in your life, and yet, your legs were filled by a jittery feeling just like it was the first time ever. Your heart wouldn't stop fluttering in your chest and you tried your best to not bite down on your perfectly soft-pink colored lips. The soft breeze brushed kindly through your long and healthy locks that had grown to reach your waist.
It had been months since you had last been here and the view brought back to you an unstoppable nostalgia. In this building, you had experienced the worst, the weakest moments of your life- but also, the most beautiful and hopeful period of your existence and you couldn't wait to see the person who had made it possible for you.
Gulping down slowly you finally gathered your courage and walked towards the familiar doors, the heel of your sandals resounded loudly against the ground with every confident step that you took. You had left the hospital very abruptly, as soon as your parents had known that you had learned to stand up on your legs again, they hadn't been able to wait to see you. And before you had known it, you had already returned to your house, to sleep in your bed- among your family. Truthfully, you knew you should have felt like the happiest girl in the world, but you hadn't even resisted admitting that you missed the hospital and its monotonous room, you missed Baekhyun and his smiles, you missed watching the sunset by the window, and that made you feel like there was a hole in your chest.
In the span of a few days, you hadn't been able to even say goodbye to the man who had taken care of you the whole time. You had wanted to thank him, for everything he had done, but his absence hadn't made it possible for you. However, you had made it a promise to go see him again, once you had matured more from your experience, and so now, you were back; not as a young girl suffering by an illness, but as a confident lady.
The glassdoors moved easily when you pushed them open, your eyelids sparkled with the champagne-colored eyeshadow that you had applied that day as you blinked your eyes a few times, for a reason having expected the place to look different, though, everything looked like it did when you had left it. A wave of relief crashed upon you, finally, you moved on to search for the said man, hoping that he was still using the same room as his office.
The closer you came to your destination- the louder your heart resounded in your ears, the harder it crashed against your ribs. For a moment you contemplated turning around and taking this another time when you wouldn't feel this nervous. Though, deep down, you knew there wouldn't be another time because this nervous feeling would never leave you. You told yourself sternly to grow some balls, (although it was physically impossible) and do this. You had waited two whole months to come here and see the love of your life, you couldn't just run away when you were so close from meeting him.
You had probably spent a whole minute outside his office door, chickening away. You didn't know why you were suddenly so scared, and of what really? Baekhyun was the easiest person to be around and you knew that. Yet, the fact that you looked different, the fact that Baekhyun might be changed scared you the slightest.
A loud breath left your lips and hesitantly you lifted your hand towards the white door, beating your knuckles over it, not too hard- but still loudly enough for him to hear, if he was in there, obviously. The impatience within you was almost too much to handle if you waited for just another second outside that door you knew you'd run away, with a swift movement, you had already twisted the doorknob, sending the door wide open. You didn't have to look around too much to spot the person you had been searching for. He had halted in his steps as soon as you had appeared behind the door, he looked bewildered, almost not believing his own eyes when he saw you standing there at the entrance of his office, enlightened by the sunlight, looking like a dream.
Baekhyun's voice was breathy when he confusedly called your name, almost as if he thought that he was imagining you. You felt your chest flutter at the sound of his voice, you had always thought that your name had sounded more beautiful when he was the one to pronounce it.
"Doctor Byun, It's been a while," A smile was by now plastered on your face, all the nervousness was replaced by enormous happiness growing within you just by the sight of him and his lost orbs that still seemed to hold the night sky inside of them, of his full cheeks and pink lips, your heart swelled when you greeted him.
"No way is it really you?!" Baekhyun exclaimed with a melodious laugh following his sentence, indeed, he couldn't believe his eyes, but whether this was a dream or not, the smile that tugged on his lips- the delight that unraveled in his eyes when he saw you, was real, anyone could tell. Without wasting any more time, he dashed over to where you were, his eyes wandering all over your frame, taking in every inch of you in a manner that told you that he didn't really know where to start.
"Well if I'm not me then who else would be?" Your nose scrunched up slightly at your own words that made him chuckle breathily. "I guess I'm not hallucinating then,"
When his gaze finally fixed on yours, you parted your lips to say the words that were the main reason for your visit.
"When I got discharged, I didn't get the chance to thank you for everything you have done for me. Every moment you took care of me is truly precious and I truly treasure it, thank you for believing me and staying with me until I got better. And, I'm sorry for all the troubles I caused you, I was immature and well, a little bored, but I promise I matured." There was a soft smile on his face as he watched you with adoration and longing.
"Don't mention it," Baekhyun said, the words came out as a sweet little whisper at the same time as his index finger slightly brushed against yours before twirling around it, eventually threading the rest of your fingers together. "I should be the one to thank you," he didn't specify why, but you understood what he meant by that, you shook your head as to say that what you did for him wasn't nearly as meaningful as what he had.
Suddenly, he tugged the arm to the hand of yours that he was holding, making you stumble into his chest, his other hand rested lightly on your waist as he nustled his nose in your shampoo-scented hair. "I really missed you, my days were so quiet and empty without you. Not to mention that you have changed." Baekhyun's words were slightly muffled but you understood every single one of them as they made your blood pump twice as fast, this time, the smell of his aftershave that would usually calm down your senses, that would usually feel like a breath of fresh air did nothing but make your heart pick up its rate, this was really happening, Baekhyun that you hadn't seen in forever had actually hugged you.
"Changed?" You mumbled against his chest and you felt how it heaved against your cheek when he inhaled.
"You've always looked fine," He started, "Even though it's only been two months, it feels like you've grown a lot on your own. You have become a beautiful lady." The laugh that you let out probably hid the fact that he was making you very flustered with his sudden sweet words, perhaps his feelings for you were matching yours?
"You sound like my grandpa," You joked lightheartedly although, on the inside, you felt that you might explode if he'd say something so unhealthy for your heart.
"What else can I say when I expected to never see you again?" Baekhyun argued and you eased his hold around you so that you could look at him in the eyes.
"But I am here now, that is all it matters, no?" After a little staring contest he sighed with defeat, not really finding the necessity to argue with you, you were right, after all, the two of you had found each other again and that was all he could have ever asked for.
"You're right." He agreed, though, in the blink of an eye, the serious expression on his face was replaced by mischievousness, a glint of playfulness shone in his eyes and you felt your eyebrows lift at the completely new sight.
"Though, Miss Trouble Maker, I was hoping you'd give me the permission to take you on a date," Baekhyun spoke formally though the smirk on his lips told you he knew exactly what he had done to your heart when he asked for a date.
The blood rushed to your cheeks, tinting them with scarlet red- your tongue suddenly tying itself in your mouth. "Da-Date? With me?" You couldn't believe that he had just asked you out on such an intimate meeting, well, obviously you wanted to say yes, but for a reason the word wouldn' get past your lips, completely shocked by the situation.
"Yes with you little lady, we do have quite a lot to discuss," The hint he dropped you were very vague but for one reason or another, you caught on it really fast, remembering the time you had dashed from your bed to kiss him on his lips, (without his permission). If your cheeks could go any hotter, there'd be steaming coming out of them, teeth dug into your lips as you tried to forget the embarrassing memory.
"But- uuh, are you sure you want to go with me? Won't you be embarrassed? Or are you going to scold me for kissing you without permission, that's it, right? oh, uhm, I mean- Gosh- Why can't I shut u-" Your mouth was running unstoppably, you had never known that a single question could have destroyed your confident facade, turning you into a messy teenager who could barely speak a word in front of her crush.
Baekhyun released a little chuckle as he murmured: "Just say yes,"
To say you were surprised when Baekhyun silenced your infinite stuttering with his lips was an understatement, you were sure that your legs were slowly melting underneath you as his soft cushions molded ever so perfectly against your own, barely noticing the way his fingers spread across your jaw and neck. Within a few seconds, you were able to calm down, your hands raised in front of your chest, not knowing where to put them. Your eyes were shut tightly and Baekhyun proceeded to gently tug your lower lips with his before detaching for a mere second, only to lean in again to peck your lips.
"And that's a payback for the last time."

The Best Interview
Tittle: The Best Interview Words: 0.6K Pairing: Mia/Kang Daniel, Mia/Park Jihoon; 10th Member of EXO Summary: Mia hears how Daniel and Jihoon talks about her in an inteview.
KCON was always a fun place to be. Favourite idols performing, a chance to meet your friends from industry, that you didn’t get to see because of busy schedule. Thousands of fans just waiting for their favourite artist to come on stage. Warm welcome with fanchants was something incredible.
This time EXO attended KCON in Japan. Of course it wasn’t their first time there, but everytime was exiting for everyone. They were preparing for it for a while, trying to change usual setlist a little. Make it different, than their concerts. Maybe bring attention to new fans, who knew what can happen.
Mia was walking from the cafeteria with drink, that she brough from there. In the corridors, there were multiple idols having interviews with Japanese reporters. They were usually talking to people, who just have done their stage and could enjoy the rest of the evening however they wanted.
Walking past one of the group, that was talking to the reporter, she recognized two boys. Kang Daniel and Park Jihoon. Mia slowed down a little, waiting for them to end the interview so she can greet them.
‘If you could work with any other artist, that is here tonight who would it be?’, man asked the boys. They gasped and started thinking about the answer, while making weird noises at each other.
‘We’re always torn between EXO and BTS.’, Daniel said and Jihoon nodded immediately.
‘Yeah, we always fight about who’s music we should play. They’re both so good!’, Jihoon added.
‘But BTS is not here tonight, so I guess EXO is the one.’, man said to them and boys nodded.
‘It actually would be an honour.’, Daniel said. ‘We love both groups. We also love watching their dance practises, because we learn so much from them.’
‘Especially Sou and Mia’s dance to BlackPink’s ‘Whistle’. It was a masterpiece.’, Jihoon said. Mia smiled widely, listening to them talk about her. She even felt a little blush on her cheeks. ‘Daniel and Woojin tried to learn in, but they failed in the first thirty seconds of the choreography.’
‘So I guess solo stage with Wanna One and Sou and Mia is in the plans for the future?’, interviewer asked and Mia started walking in their direction, wanting to surprise them.
‘That would be a dream come true. We just need to get in contact with their companies and see what happens.’, Daniel said.
‘I mean, I’m up for it, we just need to call Sou.’, Mia said behind them. She had her hands on Jihoon’s shoulders, scarying him a little. As soon as both boys heard her voice, they turned around and screamed. Mia started to laugh and hugged both of them and thanked them for the nice words. ‘I’m serious, though.’, she added.
‘Oh My God.’, Daniel whispered still in shock. Mia’s hand was still on his back, after hugging him.
‘So, I guess we will see you in the future stage?’, interviewer said to all three of them with a laugh. Mia just nodded, giggling. She hugged both of the boys once again and ran away, leaving them still in shock of what just happened.
