Over-thinking about this Adira bit again:

"ADIRA - Adira is an eccentric excursionist and member of The Brotherhood. She has spent years alone on the road surviving in the harshest of elements. She is tough, gallant, and full of both herself and tales from her adventurous past." The word "excursionist" is screwing me up here. Like, I always assumed an excursion is like a trip for fun. Okay, definition of and Excursion: "a short journey or trip, especially one engaged in as a leisure activity. or : a usually brief pleasure trip"

Like....... I deadass thought that she had been spending those decades on a tireless search or quest for the Sundrop! That she was questing to save her people.

But this almost suggests she had kind of been fucking around. Like she'd abandoned the mission just as much as Quirin did.

I guess it kind of tracks with how she described her various journeys through the Forest of No Return, and some of her general attitude maybe??? But it still completely recontextualized what I thought of this character.

Was she just at Corona at the very end of season 1 by coincidence then??? Like she was out on another excursion and happened to see the end of Season 1, and just went from there?

(Plus the fact that's she's not explicitly stated to be a knight like Quirin... it sucks. I kind of hate it tbh. I know in canon all three of them were referred to this way but the fact that this wasn't an important enough aspect of her identity to be included in this is kind of lame.)

Perhaps I'm reading into this and "excursionist" is just a whimsical word choice to add an alliteration???

Lord, I had so many ideas about what the face paint meant!! And in the end it was supposed to be a simple indicator that she had a duplicitous nature????

I genuinely thought that all the mistrust/conflict between the characters was more about what it said about the main three rather than Adira.

Rapunzel's hesitance was about her hesitance to face what she thought of as her "destiny."

Eugene and Adira's conflict was a battle of egos.

And Cassandra's distrust was about her protectiveness, sense of control, sense of self and even a projection of her own secret intentions.

I really don't consider Adira to have "two sides" like this describes?? She's pretty straight foreword all things considered.

Okay, I'm going to go back to ignoring this production and background stuff and go back to enjoying fanon Adira.

Why do you think that AFAB non binary people tend to be largely respected in queer spaces (honestly over other trans people what ive seen in my experience) while AMAB trans people and transmascs tend to be met with constant hostility and exclusion? Do you think afab enby privilege is something that exists in comparison to the experiences of amab trans people and transmascs (especially amab enbies)? Honestly to me it feels like its because they're the ones who are largely falling into excursionist beliefs while remaining palatable due to most of them still having some proximity to cis womanhood so they're much more likely to be accepted by radfems while not having to face the consequences of bigotry that amab trans people and transmascs have targeted at them for masculinity or perceived masculinity. They can get away with so much more than the rest of the community and tend to be hot spots for exclusionist belief (afab only spaces, major sources of transmisogyny and AMAB enbyphobia, main people fighting against transandrophobia). Just something interesting i've noticed how they tend to get good visibility with little consequences while continuing to spread bigotry towards the rest of the trans community with little argument. Love your blog by the way very grateful to see more amab enbies talk about how we're excluded from trans spaces because its been going on for too long.

AFAB non binary folks aren't "widely respected in trans spaces", notably those expressing too much masculinity (especially in unconventional way), and painting AFAB enbies as privileged and even radfem-adjacent is a very wrong picture (also I don't like at all the way you're talking about "proximity to cis womanhood"). The fact that AMAB enbies are having a harder time being accepted in some spaces doesn't mean that AFAB enbies are necessarily the ones doing the exclusion - it's caused by more deep-rooted dynamics and blaming another group in particular for them is pointless.

Also you said that AFAB enbies were the main people fighting against transandrophobia like if doing that was a bad thing? I don't get that part exactly, isn't transandrophobia (like transmisogyny) something we should all fight against?
