listen. i know it's not 2014 anymore and i know it's just a throwaway line and that the russo brothers didnt intend for marvel action blockbuster captain america the winter soldier to become the tragic gay love story that never was but man. having steve say "it's kind of hard to find someone with shared life experience" in a conversation about romantic relationships right before the bucky reveal is so cruel. it's not just about steve and bucky obviously having the shared experience of being "out of time," it's the fact that they've both been stripped of their humanity in opposite directions. steve is a legend, he is an american hero and a national icon before he is a human being the same way that bucky is a weapon and a killing machine before he is a human being. steve knows that anyone who falls in love with him in the 21st century fell in love with captain america first, and that's just not him. but then the one person who knew him first and knew him best and loved him (not captain america, that little guy from brooklyn) so much he died for it is alive, impossibly. and it's a miracle because he's back and it's horrific because he's back under the worst possible circumstances. but to steve, the winter soldier is worth tearing the world apart for because he's always been bucky first. they find each other and suddenly they're human again. and maybe, despite it all, being "out of time" becomes a blessing, because in this century they'd finally be allowed to love each other the way they've always wanted to. like real people do.

like. no. the captain america trilogy isn't about two queer men traumatized and alienated by war and modern life rediscovering and reclaiming their humanity through their love for each other. but. i mean. it couldve been

How… does Robin’s costume work?

A question long asked by everyone. But mostly by me.

Well. I’ll tell you.

First thing’s first, we’re talking about classic Robin, Dick Grayson Robin, this Robin:

There’s a common misconception that Robin’s shirt is one piece (as in a red shirt with green sleeves) and that his panties are separate. You see a lot of people refer to his outfit as having green panties. You, like me, may have heard it before many a time.

Unfortunately. Dick Grayson is not going out every night in a shirt, panties, and a cape.

He’s literally wearing a green leotard with a red vest over it.

Literally just a green leotard. He’s never been wearing panties at all. It’s been a leotard this whole time!

Also, just as a side note, I think it’s kind of funny that his mask is almost always portrayed as black, except in this panel where he isn’t wearing it and it becomes green. Is it double-sided, black and green? No, the colours in the 60’s Teen Titans comics are just funky sometimes. And, they needed the mask to stand out from the black background.

Can’t stop thinking about the way patho 3 will recontextualize everything. Like it was always a given, of course, that Bachelor was doing stuff in the background of the Haruspex story. But looking at the brief glimpses of charts and numbers and graphs, it’s dawning on me how much flew over my head from patho 2. Like the first day of the plague, you’re just stumbling around and suddenly — fire. Guards. Blockade. It makes sense as a gameplay mechanic, so you don’t stop to question how it’s there. You’re so busy rushing everywhere trying to attend to the Town’s needs at the ground level that you don’t even really notice the way quarantines are set up every day around every plague district without fail. But in-world, someone had to get up every morning and figure out which district needs the quarantine and allocate the people and resources appropriately. And that someone is the Bachelor. Which means that in Patho 3 it’s going to be the player.

It’s like…small town administration, but a horror thriller. He sees the Town completely differently from Haruspex, but it’s no less valid. Even in the version of the game where Haruspex is the ‘hero,’ even with all the obvious ways Bachelor fails, he still helps to mitigate the harm. We’re finally going to see just how bad it could’ve gotten without an administrator running things from a bird’s-eye view. Without someone there to ‘flatten the curve.’
