Ralph

Design

Usually it's the girls who get unique and memorable designs, and the boys have to settle for a much more boring isekai mc-kun style look, but not here! This is amazing, bright blue frilly bell bottoms with purple stripe decorations! And the little wizard hat! And the 00's deviantArt OC edgy hair over one eye! The badass cape! Oh he has nail polish too! He is just great. In general he looks a little dorky but that's okay, it's a very memorable design. The cape fits the hero image he's trying to maintain, even if he's not very good at it.

The eyebrows are also a striking design element and even has plot relevance, but more on that later. So, uh, spoilers for Oracle of Ages? Or in general all of these potentially have spoilers for their respective games, not that I've warned about that before...

The frills and triangle pattern are elements that also repeat in the Oracles' designs. I really like this, they're all different so it doesn't feel like they're wearing a uniform, but it also gives the sense that the world has its own distinct fashion style.

In the entire LoZ franchise there are remarkably few friendly older teen/young adult male important npcs, or at least in the "attractive anime twink" style Link inhabits, compared to the situation with the girls (when almost all games have at least Zelda in the main girl role). And Ralph is one of the few exceptions, which I welcome. Or like I said in Nayru's entry, he's actually a lot shorter than I thought and might even put him in the "kid" category, but I elect to ignore that.

Character

Ralph starts out reasonably enough saying how he counts on Link with Nayru's safety, but quickly changes to stating that he doesn't think Link's help is needed after all. After Nayru is kidnapped he pops up here and there through the story on his own quest to save her, repeats how he will be the one to save Nayru and usually has a pretty condescending attitude towards Link ("Well, if it isn't Link! Dawdling about, as usual.") But he does offer some useful advice during his appearances, so he's willing to help and share information at least.

Later Ralph expands his heroism to wanting to save the general population in addition to Nayru, and even gets a moment where he is ready to sacrifice himself for the greater good despite being scared ("Maybe it is terrifying… But if I must, I must. To do nothing and live just isn't me.") In general he feels like he's the typical hotheaded shounen hero of his own story.

Towards the end of the game Ralph has to eat some humble pie when Link saves the day. After this Ralph apologises for his behaviour, praises Link, admits that he was the one who didn't accomplish anything, and outright says that he now considers Link his friend.

In general Ralph gets surprisingly much character focus for a character in a GBC game, he gets to show a lot of different emotions in different situations and even gets noticeable character development.

Role in the story

I would say that Ralph has the most well developed role out of all the characters in both of the Oracle games, which is peculiar since he isn't even the poster girl. He's the only one to get a proper arc, and has a lot of presence since he shows up in OoA regularly. And most importantly after Nayru gets saved after dungeon 6 out of 8, he is actually the final damsel in distress for OoA. The execution is a little different since Nayru's predicament is the usual kidnapped girl fare, while Ralph has to be saved from himself since he rushes to fight the end boss on a suicide mission. You see, after Nayru is freed from the villain's possession, the villain possesses the queen (in the past) instead, and it is revealed that Ralph is her descendant. So he intends to kill queen even if it means that he won't be able to be born. The way this works is a little clunky here since he already knows Link is able to undo the possession, so his sacrifice feels kind of dumb and reckless. Also he only survives because of plot armour because the villain could have killed him before Link takes over the battle but just chose not to. But points for trying I guess, this is still way above the writing the other characters in either of the two games got.

Considering how much focus Ralph gets and how actively he tries to contribute, it's a little shame how his actions don't really amount to anything. The most you can say that he works as the game's hint system because sometimes he points where the player should go next, but it would be nice if he got to do something more notable too.

I feel that he is similar to the original Pokemon rival (Blue) in that he's this cocky rival that shows up to mock you through the game, and the in the end you get to feel vindicated when they're defeated. Both of them are even actually helpful by sharing information too! Though I do feel kind of bad for Ralph since he's just so crushed at the end and just lies on the floor lamenting how he looks like a fool now.

I like that the revelation that he is the queen's descendant is foreshadowed a little (with how he knows about a secret entrance to the palace) and isn't just dropped out of nowhere in the finale.

Relationships

Ralph is a childhood friend and self-proclaimed protector of Nayru, acts kind of jealous about the possibility of someone else doing the protecting, and spends most of the game running around trying to save her. I don't remember instances where his behaviour could only be interpreted as romantic so make of that what you will.

Surprisingly his most interesting relationship is with Link. Or he is the main character, but at this point of the franchise he usually doesn't get nearly as many character moments with even the main girl of each game so it's pretty big.

Ralph strikes a one sided rivalry with Link about the Nayru rescue, and then behaves in a condescending manner when they run into each other. However I find it interesting that he doesn't blame Link at all for Nayru getting captured in the first place, because it was Link who brought the disguised villain close to her in the first place. Or it wasn't Link's fault since nobody know about the disguise, but I would have imagined that Ralph would hold it against him.

Once Link is the one to save Nayru while Ralph did nothing he apologises properly, and starts preparing to take down the villain, even if it would cost him his own life. And then he starts throwing lines like "May fate bring us back together!", and later "Umm… Link… Don't forget me. I mean, I think of you…as a friend…" when preparing for his suicide mission. If this was a more popular and recent game people would ship these two way more but now they only have 5 results on ao3. Even the villain refers to him as Link's "dear friend".

Once the day is saved and everyone is hunky-dory Ralph comments how Link is amazing and apparently teases him for the embarrassing statue the queen put up for Link. Then they get a cute cutscene in the credits where Link tries to teach Ralph to do the spin attack with the sword, but he spins too much and gets dizzy. So we end on the note that they're friends now, with Link taking a mentor-like role.

He also gets a brief scene with the queen, with both being proud about the relationship, though the queen takes offense at being called grandmother. It's a shame they don't get to interact more, but it's nice that their relationship didn't go completely unaddressed.

Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture Episode 1 thoughts

Okay so like, although I wasn't big on Akito the Exiled or the creative choices made with the compilation films, I was actually really looking forwards to this one. Unlike most people, I genuinely don't mind them doing more with Code Geass. Like we have the og anime just there, its out and people can watch it (except they cant because r2 is jailed on crunchyroll auughhhhh). They even made it clear that the new Code Geass stuff from Akito onwards are in their own continuity. Genuinely I don't mind them just expanding more on their already established concepts, though I do have a preference for when they do newer things with them. So like, yeah. Roze of the Recapture is my favorite thing to come from this series in a good while.

So for those who don't know, Roze of the Recapture is a sequel not to the original series, but instead the compilation films that recapped the original series with minor changes to the events that took place in there. It also follows up on the corresponding movie that conveyed what happened afterwards, but basically all you need to know is that after Resurrection, we have a 5 year timeskip. There is a new cast of characters who so far don't tread over where the original cast stood, however they do pay homage and parallel some of the characters from the original series. Honestly, I think this is the only part that has me worried, as I'd love to see them play around more with new concepts. However I feel like after the end of the first episode, those concerns are pretty much quelled.

Okay so I'm not gonna skirt around the spoilers any further beyond this point.

Okay. I want to talk about that fucking twist??? Because like??????????? I did not fucking see that one coming but its such a fucking great way differentiate your protagonist from just being lelouch again while also playing with parallels. We effectively have somebody who's a figure of importance who is thought to be dead, however lives on to take revenge on Britannia as they have wronged this person. Key difference is that our character kinda strays away from this idea. I know a lot of people here are referring to Roze/Sakuya as our first female protag for a code geass anime and I'm sure thats probably what they're going for. However my brain just sees Sakuya being legally declared dead and then proceeding to taking the identity of not an entirely different girl, but rather this whimsical boy twink named Roze. Idk, kinda transmasc swag but also I absolutely love how we've all been played for fools prior to release. Like all the marketing had led us to believe this was going to be a story about two brothers doing shit but WOW did they have everybody fooled (including me). A shame that the trailers for the later movies kinda spoil this twist but I will fight to keep this a secret as much as possible from my friends until I get them to watch this.

Roze as a whole is a lot of fun as a character, big twist aside. I love how he feels a lot more like a trickster compared to Lelouch. Even though Lelouch had a bit of emphasis on him playing with people (the orange incident comes to mind), Roze steps that up with his geass. I'm so glad that its not just Lelouch's geass again. They do something fun with it, like conceptually after thinking about it for a while its actually crueler than Lelouch's geass. Theoretically Roze could force you into doing something without brainwashing you, you could do those things while being entirely conscious. If you say no? Then whatever you're told to do otherwise happens no matter what. I think thats just insane, it really opens the doors for so many things to be done with it in the same way that we saw Lelouch's geass being used to torment Suzaku.

Anyways I think its really funny how people are realizing this one has Ichiro Okouchi coming back to write for it not through the writing returning to its unsubtle "no shits given" attitude from the original series, but by them having yet another chess game that failed to understand the rules of chess. Its a tradition at this point.

7 Underrated Dragon Ball Characters

Honorable mention, Launch. She's one of my favorite Dragon Ball characters, but Toriyama never evolves Launch beyond her gag, and then he forgets all about her. Unlike most USians, I started with OG Dragon Ball, and enjoyed the found family dynamic that Goku developed after Grandpa Gohan (who ironically is his father figure) died. Roshi is like his grandpa, Bulma his big sister, Krillin his best bro, and Launch his mother. She cooks, cares for the boys, and handmakes them their cute little World Tournament suits. It seemed like she was going to be a major supporting character, but instead she circles the drain doing one of three things until she's just finally gone 1) getting molested by Roshi 2) shooting people impervious to bullets 3) crushing on Tien

The only reason he's not higher on this list is because he's not as underrated as the others. Plenty of people like 16 ofc, he's a good character, but in universe he gets nothing but disrespect. Y'know the guy who saved the world by helping Gohan go beyond Super Saiyan? He's on the same tier as Farmer w/shotgun in terms of getting wished back to life. Yamcha would rather give his girlfriend a nice necklace

Super goes a step further in erasing his existence by giving his character traits to Park Ranger 17. And I'd say this was a nice homage to 16 if Super wasn't Super

World Tournament Announcer

The Nameless Announcer. One of the few normies to know about Dragon Team, he's an in-universe Dragon Ball stan. He's also the first character in this entire franchise to go from mustache-less to mustache

Yajirobe

Yajirobe's honestly so cool. He 1 shot Cymbal, then COOKED AND ATE HIM, which is probably the darkest thing to happen in Dragon Ball and actually makes Buu a Yajirobe clone. He was also the equivalent to Tien and Goku on release, being as strong as they were during the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament.

Except, unlike Tien and Goku, he's a total slacker and was probably this strong naturally, or at least very close. For context, 21st World Tournament Goku was equivalent to Roshi, who could blow up the moon with ease

Oh and he was instrumental in defeating Geets, that's cute of him too

Dr. Gero

One of my fav villains, this fucker here, he fucks. He created best girl (18) best twink (17, sorry not sorry Future Trunks), two very good boys (8er and 16), the most perfect it/its, 19, who had one of Dragon Ball's best beatdowns, and was plenty compelling and terrifying on his own. How is this absolute fucker not in every Top 10 or at least every Top 20 villain countdowns?

Ok first I started watching an anime called simoun which is about these “priestesses” (aka war pilots) who are fighting against people who are trying to invade their country, and their aircraft (which are called simoun hense the name of the anime) is believed to be holy because they’re motors were dug up from the earth and no one really knows how the work and they’re super strong.

World building: everyone is born female and this lady (who I can’t remember the name of but is basically god) decreed that half the population must be male and half must be female (I’m not so sure they care about the exact percentage I doubt it’ll come up again), so everyone at age 17 must go to this lake where she lives and choose which gender they will be (I haven’t gotten that far but I’ve been told that other countries have to go through surgeries because they don’t have access to the lake so yeah). But there is an exception for priestesses who don’t have to choose until the decide to stop fighting in the war. So we’re primarily focusing on a queer cast that doesn’t what to be permanently a man or woman.

And in like episode three or something one of the priestesses decides to leave (possibly because of one of their comrades dying) and says something along the lines of I know I’m supposed to the male of female but what if I think both (ergo the lady in the lake chooses instead) and when they leave the lake he tells his friend that it will take time for their body to change and that basically nothing has changed and then they drop to their knees and screamed and it was devastating. If I was good at technology I would record a clip and post it here but then I’d also need the wherewithal to deal with terfs if it broke containment because I know some people would ignore that it’s about forcing queer people into a gender binary (which from my understanding is what this whole show is kind of about. I had to download it from someone because it’s not available anywhere)

okay that sounds AMAZING, the war machines that are otherworldly reminds me of Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao (which was inspired by a diffent anime, but it is about mecha war machines piloted by boy/girl pairs, a male pilot, and a female concubine, and its dark as fuck, like Zetian becomes a concubine to avenge her sister who was killed by her pilot outside of battle so her (extremely poor) family didnt get compensation for her death. its a fucking amazing book, Zetian gets a reformed (ish) murderer boyfriend AND a twink scholar boyfriend, AND its full triangle poly, and Yizhi and Shimin are ADORABLE together and theres this scene where they are cooking and Yizhi and Shimin kiss and Zetian is just sitting in her wheelchair in the doorway like "🫵 cute boyfriends 🥰" i make it seem like a cute poly romance.... its NOT, its very much a killing people who cross you war book with a side of romance, and an A plot of overthrowing the corrupt government and making yourself the dictator.

Yeah though I find it important to remember - Ralph is a lot older than Daniel. Tkk3 was anachronistic for its time, but is supposed to take place in 1985. Daniel was 16 in 1984, so by the time Cobra Kai comes around he was in his early fifties. Still looks insanely young but not as young as Ralph. But he is omega, and they are a bit childlike as hyperfemininity in our culture is also childlike, and omegas are like that naturally. I usually take Crossroads for a reference, and at least he doesn't look 12 there. But Daniel always regresses a bit when he's intimidated, and likes to act coquettish just like Ralph. But given that Terry is also supposed to have been 35 at least to go for a teenager (I take his birthdate as 1950. Also, Terry's a mobster so the law is always more of a guideline to him. He simply fell. He was hooked by that boy's shadow in the third film. They wouldn't have met before, the Don would have kept him away but if Terry spotted him three years earlier? He might have tried (and definitely failed) to kidnap him, and otherwise wouldn't have gone to the Don for money or influence, but simply to barter for Daniel. It's not right or the least bit healthy but it is fated. A fated badgood, absolute mess of a pairing, but fate.

The whole premise is that there is a sitcom all about a polycule of ‘prawn stars’. They are the only object heads but no one ever brings it up. The world is human based except for these few.

Pizza Guy - His head is a slice of pizza with a Dragon Ball Vegeta view finder. His head is full of tomato juice/fruit punch. Not Tomato Sauce. Juice so that it is transparent enough you can see the pizza slice. Silly happy fun one. Usually Pizza Guy and Cowboy Hat are together. Out of all of the ‘prawn’ they are usually paired up.

Cowboy Hat - Same height as Pizza Guy only because the 10 gallon Stetson is so damn tall. Without the head he is super short compared to the others, but has a more stocky build. His head is filled with tears, whose tears… I don’t know, someone’s tears. The gruff more down to earth cowboy stereotype to go with Pizza Guys high energy fun. (Fun fact: Cowboy and Pizza are the only two with eyes.)

Keys Lady (or Keys for short) - She is Miss Bellum from Powerpuff girls or at least she has a similar vibe. She is the sci-fi equivalent with her own motorcycle. The spare key to her motorcycle is the key inside her head, in case she ever needs it she knows where it is. Her head is full McDonnys Sprite, super spicy, just like her. Keys is the leader. If there is ever a dispute or problem she is the one you go to.

Teddy Bear - The stuffed animals from Tiny Headed Kingdom was the inspiration for him, the tiny head and massive body. The vials floating in their head are filled with virgin blood. There is no liquid instead the vials float in zero gravity. Teddy is not yet at full power, once they ethically source a total of 10 vials of virgin blood they will be complete. They also usually get scenes with virgins or first time ‘prawn’ people, seeing as he is in fact the softest and cuddliest of them all. A gentle giant of you will. Once there are 10 vials of blood the cyborg Teddy bear head will expand to become a fully formed entity.

Jelliee - All curves, an ass that just won’t quit, sassy as fuck, dresses in leather, been in this industry a looooong time. Probably the most reserved of them all she has a sharp tongue and you can tell that if she were human he’d be a silver fox. Their head is full of pineapple juice and multiple jello cubes. The cubes change shape depending on the occasion, for an example on Valentine’s Day they turn into little hearts.

Tentacle Twink (TT for short) - Tentacle body, imagine just coils of tentacles making up this springesque body. The broken bottle in its head is a soy sauce bottle, the liquid it is floating in is diluted soy sauce. A brat but would also be the first to get you out of trouble.

Last but certainly not least

JUST KYLE - He is your average everyday dude. He just wants love and only shows up in special episodes as the sitcom revolves around the hijinks of their ‘prawn star’ work. After the first season due to the fandoms love of him he starts to become a more regular character and befriends all of the object heads until they finally add him to their polycule. He is only ever seen wearing tie-dye and surfer dude shorts, his baseball hat is a different sports team every time you see him and it is always worn backwards.

As for what happens when their heads break, the outside casing is made of glass so you slap some flex seal on it and wait for it to regen. The glass is super strong and very thick so a head breaking or cracking is a rare occurrence.

That’s it. I mean of course there is more but that is the basics. I might make a comic based on them but only time will tell.

How DBH Leans Way Harder Into HankCon Than Father/Son

Listen.

I love you people who make Hank and Connor that whole platonic family thing. Totally you do you, that's fine, don't even worry about it.

For real - this isn't some ship war. It's a game. I even got some dad vibes from Hank before - oop, nope, we just went full daddy, didn't we. So this is not pitting two ideas against each other to see which one's better. They're both good. I massively prefer one, but I'm not saying either one is wrong.

I *am* saying the canon is geared towards their relationship being HankCon.

Putting my last analysis aside, this game's got a consistent pattern to it: the relationship comes to a conflict.

Can a machine be a person? Central conflict of the game. The relationship is between humans and androids externally, and androids and machines internally.

Can an android ever be a mom? Kara's story, with a conflict of "What's the worst that can happen?" It certainly leads to some bad decisions, and - just... the *worst* doctor's appointment.

Can an android be a human's son? Markus' story with its conflict of, "Is that bad?" And here, we get some subtle hints that Leo's not too thrilled, like when Markus gets shot in the face (#defundthepolice amirite? no seriously, wtf guys). Unlike Kara, Markus doesn't have a little "Family" bar showing for Carl, but not only do they openly say what they think, Markus' extended conflict towards this is questioning whether he was more than a slave in a gilded cage or a privileged rich kid now playing War Leader.

Can androids be a threat? There's some demonizing of Markus if he inexplicably gets mad that his people are being killed to death (with a beautiful analysis on that tone policing by dbh-rambling) , but yes, that relationship's in the Deviant Leader's story as Pacifist vs. Non-Pacifist.

Can androids love?

Oh boy.

The question of whether androids can be somebody's son (or daughter) is only actively and directly discussed in Markus' story, and in Kara's from the parent's POV. Family doesn't come up in Connor's except for one big moment and one big parallel: when Hank tells Machine!Connor that every time a Connor died, he thought of Cole, and when Daniel at the start has his whole thing of being replaced after thinking he was part of the family.

Those do not incite a conflict.

For Markus, Leo makes fun of the idea, leading to one of the plethora of opportunities we have to sad-kill his dad or allow Markus stand up for himself.

Zlatko mocks Kara and kidnaps Alice, and while Kara won't leave the house without her kid in tow (who warned you like a billion times to leave girl smh), the race is on to find this chick. Ralph straight up tries to force it if you go that route, again putting Kara and Alice's bond to the test. Same thing at the recycling plant and crossing the border: how far will Kara take this 'mom' thing is the conflict.

Ain't nobody pullin' that shit on Connor.

He's vaguely interested in Hank's 'personal problems' as it pertains to the case. Hank might open up a little about Cole. It's not discussed until the very end, and the theme of 'son' doesn't enter the picture until we *see* a picture at Hank's house, whereupon Connor says nothing about it. That's different from the other storylines, where that family theme appears (and gets talked about) pretty much right away.

Connor doesn't even connect with the idea of replacing a member of a family when he's facing off against Daniel at the start. He basically calls Daniel dumb for it, pre-Zlatko style. His one interest in the Cole situation is saying it's not Hank's fault, with his sincerity adjusted per the Machine! or Deviant! path. He's focused on Hank and Hank alone.

You know what else he's focused on?

"Androids can't feel anything."

"They're not 'technically' emotions."

"I'm a machine and machines don't want anything."

Markus doesn't question whether he can be in love. Kara is maybe surprised by the emotion of those two androids at Rose's house, but her love for Alice is out in the open several times. That's the one thing they feel confident about, and North is as quick to accept it (as the only relationship able to go to 'Lover') as Markus is if Kara explains to him why she's helping Alice. Even as he's mocking her, Zlatko doesn't question that Kara *thinks* she loves her daughter. He uses it against her. That's why these aren't conflicts: they're facts more than anything, taken for granted.

... You know who ain't takin' that shit for granted? And is instead - like, actively challenging every speckle of the concept?

"*smack* What am I to you, a statistic? A 'zero', a 'one' in your fucking program?"

"People are fucking insane. They don't want relationships anymore, everybody just gets an android."

"Those two girls wanted to be together. They really seemed in love."

And like Zlatko with Kara, we have 60 being all goddamn, "Now it's time to decide what matters most: him or the revolution."

That is a conflict.

Kara, Luther and Alice go to a happy little theme park and frolic on a merry-go-round.

Markus has a heart to heart with either Carl at his deathbed or just with Carl's grave, but always to seek advice.

Connor and Hank go to a fucking strip club advertised in their *first* chapter together and get into a bitchy quarrel about, "WHAT ARE YOU REALLY CONNOR, I SHOULD NOT HAVE ADDED A GUN TO THIS CONVERSATION (for real #defundthepolice)."

That is the relationship.

So to recap:

Testing Markus' family relationship with Carl incites a conflict with Leo about who Carl's son really is, eventually putting their lives on the line.

Testing Kara's family relationship with Alice incites a whole host of conflicts that put their lives repeatedly on the line.

Testing Connor's family relationship with Hank incites... uh... a 53-year-old bear calling a 30-year-old weaponized twink 'son' as Connor bleeds out in that one ending you get where you do nothing for two minutes you monster, or - at best - spurs Connor to follow the platonic love of putting a father figure over *the entire revolution and existence of his newly self-aware species* by using it to 'find each other' once Hank has to pick out the real Connor.

Testing Connor's romantic relationship with Hank incites Hank to *fucking kill himself* if you two aren't friends, him punching Perkins in the face if you *are* friends, variations on one your asses dangling off the side of a building or getting dropped/pushed right off of it, and having it listed as a full-on betrayal if you dare to stay a licky blood machine.

Look - Connor said it himself:

"I'm whatever you want me to be: your partner, your buddy to drink with, or just a machine programmed to accomplish a task."

*You do you*. If you see them as family, just make sure they're happy for me, please (and that you remember that even on the good ending, Connor has to murder a minimum of two guards to get through CyberLife so show his ass some respect).

... but.

But.

I mean, when even Clancy says they weren't father and son - not to appeal to the actors' POV or anything, but if that wasn't on the menu when Bryan whipped out a little "I adapt to human unpredictability" wink (that he apparently had to fight David Cage for) then whoa - that makes the idea of Hank and Connor's relationship being platonic less canon than the evidence *for* HankCon.

Besides that, if Markus and Kara *and* Connor are exploring those angles of platonic android and human families, in and around the willingness to explore overt romantic relationships among the androids, who do we have to explore a romance between a human and android?

like, fist of the north star has a lot of problems. its ridiculous logic/storytelling. its gender attitudes both inherited from other post apocalypse stories, martial arts stories and of its own creation. its incredibly predictable formula for combat and villains. that its world just flat out makes no sense. that its characters will make weird jumps in internal reasoning to get the story from points a to points c. i could go on.

but. If i somehow ever got into a position to tell anykind of retelling on it one of the things i'd definitely do is really mix up the variety of physicality going on in the wasteland. hokuto no kens only able to escape 'sameface syndrome' by virtue of its villain cast largely looking like freaks of nature but it definitely could be better.

body type HC's

kenshiro: befitting his nature its a very unassuming build. obviously muscular but not overly so, average height, just a guy that looks so very incredibly plain at the end of the day. hence why no one recognizes him until like the last minute [outside of post apocalypse reasons of course] because until he starts actually flexing his power you see a ken at every street corner effectively.

shin: similar physicality as kenshrio in the sense of having muscle but not overly so visually speaking which speaks to unassuming strength, but unlike ken his face is obviously a lot more distinct and memorable being pretty boy face mr steal your girl and all. the kind of guy who looks like he should be the hero really compounding on shins complicated relation to ken and general struggle with feelings of inferiority when it comes to winning yurias heart.

rei: femboy twink face, owing to the fact that he can really easily pass as a girl ripe for being taken advantage of by burly stupid bandits. also that one fang clan guy directly referring to rei as attractive with the implication of being demure. when he does start fighting his strength and muscles become more apparent but overall the waterfowl fist and its practitioners would be on the lighter side [ballerina build esque or swimmer build esque i suppose] in keeping with their flowing martial art that focuses more on speed and mobility over raw power. even if its cutting power is deadly.

souther: given his style is largely focused on being a stanceless one capable of responding to any situation and otherwise superior to other nanto styles, his build like ken would be more towards the middle of things in the sense of having obvious muscle but still belaying the exceptional strength within. The only exception would be southers back muscles which would be exceptional as fuck in order to ensure the maximum effectiveness of his styles only actual stance.

toki: shredded jesus man, in the sense that he'd be emaciated as fuck yet also simultaneously ripped because thats how wasteland jesus rolls. in flashblacks he'd look closer to ken but also still being the most demure looking of the hokuto siblings in general speaking to his gentle nature despite his immense talents and how his philosophy in combat focuses moreso on redirecting force instead of overwhelming it.

raoh: as tall and muscular a he always is, because its god damn raoh. hes effectively right where he needs to be already.

Jagi: hyena like effectively, in past flashbacks he'd be closer to a middle ground between ken and raoh having a greater emphasis on muscle without being as tall as or quite as strong looking as raoh. following the fight with ken however and his disfigurement that bulk would reduce closer to kens size but with an overall more 'predatory look' to it. a more triangular chest then ken for instance but a smaller waste, stuff like that that. really looking the part of bizarro evil ken effectively. well i'm at it incidentally, I would change things up to have jagi in general be more effective/dangerous to ken [if were talking 'statistic book terms: pow 3->5 spd 3->5 skl 3->4] with his own martial arts being the 'waru no ken' or evil fist which focuses on exploiting openings and on hokutos ability to physically disable an opponent. also his own gang would in general be more competent still being small enough that they arent aiming to actually build anything but individually being more dangerous. roll jackals gang into jagis maybe like the movie and give em some more heavy hitters, idk.

amiba: spindly lil nerd boi whos own lithe but strong body is less a result of gentle nature and radiation poisoning and more so a result of his past training in the same style as rei and in general being a book nerd 'genius' interested in studying and understanding martial arts like a science. his face would also be more distinctly different compared to tokis driving home the idea more readily that amiba used martial arts to help alter his appearance in his 'ruin tokis reputation' plan.

yuda: the ultimate femboy twink baby even more effeminate looking then rei who refuses to ever let himself be outdone in that regard by reis 'gorgeous appearance/martial arts'.

ryuuga: springy like a wolf [a trait his soldiers in general would share emphasizing their nature as a wolf pack] but more obviously muscular compared to twink boi mc rei

Honestly that rei is introduced the way he is means i've never been able to get over the idea of femboy rei malewifing his way across the wastelands. it certainly makes any situation where hes next to kenshiro incredibly funny in my imagination as my mind eye pictures obviously muscular but otherwise ken doll plain kenshiro standing around stoically and sprightly green haired femboy weirdo rei trying to match that aura or out intimidate him but just looking like a mangy wet cat.

resident evil: there's a corporation that made evil bioweapon zombies except somewhere along the way genuine black magic and cults got involved for no reason and now ethan winters can glue his hand back on including the jacket sleeve it was formerly attached to. where's the twink leon he was cute

fallout: nuclear apocalypse julius caesar is in this one. ummmmm there's a robot detective with yellow eyes right. are you delivering mail or some shit like your player character is called the courier????? There's a fight between the caesar legion and another group somewhere in there???????

castlevania: alucard and other vampires in a castle that looks different in every game umm a family of vampire hunters are involved too. I think alucard is gay but he's in a comphet relationship with the blond girl in green armor. Yeah i don't know the overarching plot of this one besides the fact that dracula keeps getting beaten up every single game

half life: ok i don't actually know anything about actual half life besides my brief stint with hlvrai i think this one's post apocalyptic im gonna guess there's something with a nuclear explosion because like. radioactive half life or whatever. uhh there's a secret dimension of aliens that the gman is associated with. Oh gordon freeman in the newer games is a dilf he's like fighting the aliens or something man idk

megaman: I Think this one is also post apocalyptic except there's robots instead of humans? ummm there's a bunch of "-man" characters besides megaman that megaman has to fight. i think megaman is the protag trying to save the "good" robots from getting destroyed except sometimes the games mix it up so there's a megaman with a different name i think it's like "X" or something that has to do it for megaman

red dead redemption: COWBOYS i heard of em. yeah idk the plot its called "redemption" so its probably. like you did something wrong and have to go travel with cowboys to redeem yourself. Wait isn't it choice-based open world though. ok maybe you can choose whether you're a redeemed cowboy or not. there are a LOT of dilfs in this one i think

Hey Im new to skam why do people not like Skam It and Nicotino

Oh the reasons that people will give for not like Skam Italia are legion. They have a plethora of excuses, a multitude, an orgy, if you will.

"They look too old!"

"They're not affectionate enough!"

"They cast a white girl as a Muslim!"

"Whitewashing!"

"Racial slurs!"

"Martino doesn't look enough like a twink!" (actual excuse I saw)

"Its not realistic for high school students to party like that!"

"They look like models, not high school kids!"

"Blah, blah fanculo!"

I've seen these arguments in a variety of different ways and usually in conjunction with how (insert their favorite version) is so much better and obviously superior to all the others, etc.

In reality, these excuses that they use to hate on Skamit, and Nicotino in particular are just a lovely smokescreen masking their real reason for not liking it as much as the others, and that's Martino and Niccolò themselves.

I've made a few posts regarding the topic of Fetishization within the Skam fandom, particularly about Skam France and WTFOCK (Skam Belgium), and if I can remember to later, I'll like them into this post, but no promises. The point is, that there is a very large, very loud portion of this fandom in particular (and fandom in general) that fetishizes mlm sexuality. And I say fetishize because I know for a fact that 90% (if not more) of this fandom is female and if you've been in the fandom while the "Coming Out" story was airing, you'd notice a horrible trend of people just focusing on the romantic moments. There was barely a care for the actual problems that arose from being closeted or being forced to come out, unless it provided an excellent opportunity for Angst™ within the fandom. That's why everyone loved when Lucas (L.) punched a wall and hurt his hand. That's all the fandom could talk about for about two weeks.

I remember very vividly back at the beginning of Robbe's season on WTFock making a post about people only being interested in the story for the opportunity to see two boys kissing, because for two solid weeks all I saw in the tags was people demanding to know where Belgian Even was (who we later found out was Sander). That was literally the entire tag, with a few exceptions talking about how Noor made them into lesbians (different rant for another time). Further proof of this is that later on, when Robbe acted in a way that a lot of closeted guys do by lashing out, there was no sympathy from the fandom. They were calling for Sander to leave and find a love interest in Lucas (van der Heijden) on Skam Netherlands, because how dare he be mean to their poor baby! And don't even get me started on the fandom's opinion on the Broerrrs.

You may be asking yourself what any of this has to do with the fandom hating on Skamit and Nicotino, and you'd be right to ask that, because I know I can ramble a bit. But like I said above, their dislike came from Marti and Nico. A large swath of the Skam fandom just didn't like Italia because neither Fede (Martino) or Rocco (Niccolò) looked enough like the binary top-bottom stereotype they wanted in a slash ship (fans love the tol-smol trope) They couldn't project themselves onto one of them and this turn whichever one happened to be more of a twink (fandom loves twinks) into their self-insert.

They turn to the excuses I listed above as justification for not liking the show, instead of just... y'know, not watching it. They scream about a Muslim character that was a WOC in the original version of the show being played by a white woman, which is a legitimate concern (completely ignoring the fact that Islam is a religion, not an ethnicity), but then they're totally silent when a character that was black in the original show is now played by a white man. They're more concerned with poking fun at the other versions of this show because they got a new season and everyone else didn't. They kick up such a fuss about a non-hijabi playing one, but there's not a peep about straight actors playing gay roles.

My favorite excuse is the "they look like models" one, which is funny to me because people worship the Skamfr cast, who all look like they just stepped off of a runaway. Or the "too old" one, which only applies to Marti and Nico, and not to, oh, say Edoardo, whose actor was older than everyone else on the Skamit cast (if I'm not mistaken).

The real kicker is that these people claim not to watch it, or who said they didn't like it, but then throw a fit because Marti and Nico aren't ridiculously affectionate with each other, proving that all they really care about is seeing two guys kiss.

I've been in fandom a long time, so I know the signs.

Bottom line is that, while people are allowed to post whatever they want in regards to this fandom, but when they leave out Skamit and Nicotino and no one else, you know its deliberate and it feels very... exclusive. Like they're gatekeeping the fandom and I'm perfectly fine staying away from those "fans".
