Thinking about Rorke in devils breath while he’s in the pit, imagining himself shoving a tube down a Fed informants throat with Elias’s hands instead of his own. Imagining beating the man with Elias’s arms. Imagines himself urging Elias to torture this man, smear his blood across the map and set his broken bones incorrectly so he suffers for the rest of his life. How he’d tear the whole jungle down for Elias. Do you think Elias would enjoy being his puppet? His right hand, under any means necessary? How vehement must it’ve felt for Rorke to be able to imagine this, imagine his saving grace, despite the man never coming?

That’s all, I’m just thinking.

Being best friends with Logan Walker

Just a friendly reminder, I am still currently playing the campaign, so some things may be incorrect But I wanted to get this one out in the open, This will be personal headcanons of my interpretation of Logan so far.

When you first met Logan, It was when you managed to finally scurry your way out of no man's land, surprisingly alive.

Being brought back to Elias, He decided to give you a chance and have you join the ghosts alongside him, Keegan, Hesh and Merrick.

Logan warmed up to you pretty quickly.

In my head I kind of see him as Johnny in a way, Always tries to find the good in everything.

It was evident how big his heart was when on missions, He noticed how small you felt originally.

While sure you can fight, Keegan and Merrick would shut you down immediately, Hesh constantly kept to himself.

It was a built-up frustration, when you headed back to base, ripping the mask off.

Giving a moment to calm you down, He gently went inside your room and sat down next to you.

"I know what it feels like y/n... To be the underdog initially. They don't mean to be that way... They're just a little stressed about trying not to die" He chuckled softly and patted your back. "But remember I got your back ok ??"

You nodded and started to smile "Ok..."

Turns out, you two had a lot in common.

Before the attack from the federation in San Diego, Logan loved to play video games.

And one day when you two were out on a mission, You began to walk back to base.

But there was something on the path inside a house that Logan missed, He saw a box seemingly undestroyed after the attack.

"Logan, come on we gotta head back to base" You noticed him stop and inspect the box.

"Gimme a minute" He opened the box and his eyes went wide. "No way !!" You could see the crow's feet in his mask.

Walking over, you found a games console inside, looking still intact 10 years later. "That's cool... But I don't know if it'll work" You chipped in.

"Well only one way to find out" He lifted the box off the ground and carried it back to base.

Meeting each other again, you found yourself trying to configure the damn thing. After some minor tweaking, you got it running.

"Looks like they still have some games in here" You pulled them out and inspected "Persona 5, Horizon Zero Dawn... Oooh Resident Evil 7"

"Oh we are so playing that" He swiped the case off of you and placed the disc in.

You watched in immense horror as he continued to play, Both jumping at the scares, Making you both laugh.

It was nice with moments like these during your downtime.

But Logan was also an amazing shoulder to cry on when things got way tough.

One mission having you come back from failing to save hostages from the federation, It broke you...

Walking to the bathroom to wash your face, Looking in the mirror. Seeing what an utter failure you were, You didn't save them.

Gripping the sink, You began to punch the mirror repeatedly, Not caring about how loud you screamed, Not caring hour your knuckles started bleeding.

Soon you felt a pair of arms pull you away from the mirror and gently sat you down.

"It's ok... I'm here y/n" He gently rubbed your back.

"I could've saved them, I could've..." You hicced.

He gently moved your face to his chest, Encouraging you to scream your emotions out. "It's ok... Let it out" He reassured.

To which you cried louder and started to scream, Screaming to the point of exhaustion.

You didn't even realise you passed out until it was the following morning.

And you found yourself, wrapped up in logan's arms, holding you close, comforting you and keeping you safe.

You two were as thick as thieves, You weren't leaving each other behind.

Not now, Not ever.

Something that popped into my head before heading off to bed and I had to get it out.

From the Western Fic I've been thinking about. (Started playing RDR2 for the first time, that certainly hasn't helped lol.)

The leader of the gang, this Rorke, adjusts his black hat atop the fabric covering his bald head, that wicked smirk of his boiling Logan's blood. He makes a noise, akin to a scoff, before pulling at his pants as he bends down. “You've been awfully mouthy, boy.”

Logan scowls, hating the man's stupid ugly face and his even uglier scar carving across his left cheek. Nothing would please him more right now than to put this self righteous prick in his place. He lifts his head, mirroring the older man's smug smirk. “Yeah, and you have no idea who you're messing with, so I'd recommend you take. Me. Back!”

Rorke has the audacity to laugh, the older man looking to the man called Neptune on his right, and the other one called Merrick on his left. He shakes his head, pushing himself back into a standing position. “Alright, I'll indulge your little tantrums.” He laughs to himself, but the other two remain silent, staring blankly at Logan as if he's some wild creature they have to figure out if they should tame or kill. “Who am I messing with, kid?”

Logan releases a quick sigh, putting his head as high as he can, but he can see the silent laughter at the edges of Rorke's eyes. Oh how he wished that bullet had blown a hole through his head, and not the shoulder of one of the others. “You may have heard of him. He was a union soldier once, but for a time he was like you lot. He's a good man though, my father. That's who you're messing with!” He spits to the side, a renewed anger lighting a fire in his chest. “His name is Elias T. Walker, and he's gonna hunt you down, and kill every single one of—” there's a flash of movement before harsh, stinging, burning pain erupts on the right side of his face. It cracks through his teeth and rattles his skull, knocking everything into darkness for at least a solid minute or two. He blinks slowly, wincing as more pain carves through his head. Opening and closing his mouth, he chokes on copper, spitting out a few coughs that spatter the ground with blood. His eyes can hardly focus, and he fights so hard to regain himself, but the back of his head hit the tree he's tied to pretty hard.

“Damnit Rorke, you could've killed him with that punch!” Merrick shouts back at the man, the balding man kneeling beside him with one hand on his shoulder. Neptune has Rorke pulled back with another man Logan hadn't seen before.

When he manages to focus, he recognizes Keegan leaning by a tree further back. His mouth is still covered by that skull mask they all wear, but his eyes hold a faint hint of worry.

“Killed him? He woulda been fine!” Rorke snaps, glaring eyes snapping back to Logan. “Stupid brat!” He barks, ready to lunge at him again but Neptune and the strange man shove him back.

Logan wants to snarl, to scream and hiss and threaten their stupid leader. He knows his anger shows on his face by the evil smirk growing on Rorke's.

"Got soemthin to say, son?" He barks.

Logan scowls. "My brother is going to kill you for touching me you stupid son of a bit—" One of Merrick's hands clamp tightly onto his mouth, forcing his head back against the tree.

"Yeah, you best keep that boy silent, Thomas. I'm not feeling generous anymore." He brushes Neptune and the other man off, glaring heatedly at Logan before storming back into camp.

Merrick lets out a low sigh, dabbing one of his kerchiefs at his lips, a deep frown marking his bearded face. “You alright?” He asks, pulling his hand away.

Logan nods once, doing his best to keep his lips from quivering and eyes from watering. He hadn't ever been punched that hard before, it still burned.

Rorke manages to start an argument with a separate man, with Neptune hot on his heels trying to get him back to his tent.

“I'm gonna go help them with him and maybe get the kid some food, mind keeping an eye on him?” Merrick asks, dusting off his brown vest and pants as he stands to face Keegan.

Keegan looks between the two, expressionless blue eyes eery and contemplating. “Fine.” He mutters, eyeing the kid blankly.

Merrick nods once, eyeing Logan apprehensively before charging off towards the fire.

Keegan stays by the tree a little while longer before pushing off the tree and finally making his way over. Kneeling, he pulls out his canteen, unscrewing the top before pressing it to Logan's still bleeding lips. “Take a sip, swish, spit. Then you can drink properly.” His deep voice throws Logan off, but his calm tone puts him at ease, a weirdly balanced imbalance. He'd found Keegan strange since they'd first met, after Rorke had him snatch Logan and throw him on his horse. He'd managed to wound one of their other men when they'd ridden into town to cause trouble, but clearly Rorke wasn't the forgiving type. Something about "an eye for an eye".

“Thanks.” Logan mumbles, doing as Keegan says before quenching his parched throat.

Keegan watches blankly, those almost inhuman blue eyes of his taking in every single bit of movement Logan makes.

He pulls the canteen back, wiping Logan's lips and chin with the back of his gloved hand. He hadn't changed his attire since they met two days ago, the older man clearly having a thing for all black. From his spurred boots up to his hat with a feather stuck to it, Keegan wore all black. All day, everyday. “Get some rest.” He says, standing and looking behind him at the fire. “Try to get some rest, Merrick should bring food to you soon.”

Logan stares up at him with big brown eyes, and he can see the older man's left eye twitch as he stares at him.

“Stop it.” He mutters, looking back at the fire before walking off.

“Hey, wait!” He tries, but the one semblance of kindness he's seen since they'd taken him, abandons him to the quiet cool night, still tied to the stupid tree.

i'm not a gamedev nor writer but i dearly love a classic era of survival horror games. so i'm rotating currently the idea of survival horror ghosts in my mind and there're my points:

1. lore and plot extension.

lore: there're actually not much information about, for example, political context: who are the leaders, what is their agendas, how stalker and federation's army operates under their governments. we don't know anything about social life after odin in both countries (for example, level of militarism support or opposition to official government), let alone how both regimes are economically able to have a professional armies. any facilities or locations we visited are meaningless for a context, because they are not involved in storytelling. couple of papers, some reports or emails would actually help players to understand at least basic concepts about game. hell, we basically have rorke's board in game with information about ghosts that could be interactive.

plot: even though rorke's files provide some insights on ghosts, we basically don't know anything about them or their main goal. why is it so important for rorke to kill ghosts? why elias trained his sons? why should we care about ajax' death? why should we care about elias' death? why walkers are important? logically, you can answer to all of these questions, but emotionally not much of them matters. literally one dialogue with keegan, for example, could added an emotional depth to ajax' death.

2. explorable locations.

i'm not talking about resident evil level of interactive elements, but some simple safe hacking or two-three action subplot to slow down story rhythmically. additionally, you can slack off a bit and give some plot elements throughout interactions with locations.

3. emotional involvement.

to give players time to 'feel' characters and story, add emotional value to actions and words, colour storyline visually and audibly.

they've done it partially in rorke's files with characters introduction and my favourite pieces: story about footprints and merrick's understanding of war. would love to hear meaningful lines like this from characters directly.

visually i really like ghosts, because game greatly portrays post apocalyptic horror and uncanny valley effect, but music is so generic that you hardly can connect it with certain characters or events.

4. DEI

i mean, i adore the sausage party we have in ghosts, but add female characters at least as nps. and poc character that will survive at least half of the game. and queers.

Or four times Jaime thinks about Brienne being with child, and the one time he gives it his best shot.

When Steve Rogers forms the Howling Commandos, he has one mission in mind.  Wipe HYDRA off the board, and bring Evelyn home.  When he finally finds her, on a train with Armin Zola, she has no memory of anything since reaching the HYDRA base. Still recovering from her time with HYDRA, and from losing her first love, Evelyn is unable to follow Steve into his final confrontation with Schmidt.  And Steve goes into the ice.

Evelyn returns to New York with Howard Stark and Peggy Carter, with a hole in her heart and no bodies to lay to rest.  Desperate to find some sort of peace, she throws herself into searching for the bodies of the only two Howling Commandos not to make it home.  After months of searching, Evelyn finds a lead on Bucky, and is never seen again.

Until, 70 years later, she shows up on Nick Fury’s doorstep.  No older than the day she disappeared, with no memory of anything after her brother’s plane hit the ice, Evelyn Rogers follows her brother into a new century.

Farcry 5: Zoë Seed!!

Omg that’s me 😏 she was an entomologist checking out the cool insects of Hope county and unfortunately for her she doesn’t believe in private property when it comes to discovering nature. One day chosen find her trespassing on John seeds property. They think she’s a spy for the resistance as she has a camera, binoculars etc. They take her to the main church (conveniently was a Sunday) once service is over shes handed over to the father and himself and John go through her camera. They only find insect pictures and omg wow she’s not a spy. She’s indoctrinated into the cult and ends up eventually becoming John’s right hand of god 😌🙏 sinners who happen to be an extra annoyance go to her where she makes them confess in whatever way possible. Or they die in the process, whoops 💅🏻 She’s polyamorous with all of the seed siblings including Faith cos like come on now let’s be real they all crave and need loving. However she’s married to John Seed because that baby boy is everything 😤❤️ She also likes to do cult posters and help write songs and sing them cos it’s fun as hell. She is closest with John and Faith Seed specifically out of the 4 Seeds. Other cultists are scared of her, or is it respect? Hmm who knows 😌 She also tortures sinners for fun and chases them around the forest making them as shit scared as possible. Oops 😏

The Magnus Archives: is my oc who is an Avatar of the eye and Rayn Porter is my oc who a avatar of the corruption. They both have the same last name as they are both the same person just if they had gone down different entity routes in their life. I’ll talk about Rose first! (I also have an avatar of the flesh and the vast but I haven’t worked on them yet or got them ‘fully fleshed out’ 😏

From an early age Rose always felt the need to watch people, to know, to understand. As she got older these feelings only became stronger and she begins to stalk people, not because she finds that person special for any particular reason they just happened to look to long at her and she saw them doing so. That just sets something off In her so now they must be followed, acknowledged, understood and scrutinised (me self projecting right into my ocs 😌). She found the Magnus institute one day as she started stalking Rosie. when she had seen the woman walking into a large glorious building she knew something was off, like the itching feeling you get, the feeling in your gut, the sensation of something important. She did not know what had over come her to walk in the building so quickly as that would ruin her chances of learning further about this person who dared make her feel so uncomfortable. But there she was. She was hired immediately of course as a librarian, then moving on the be an archival assistant, shocking to her. But obviously not to Elias Bouchard who knew just how useful her alignment to his almighty beholder. To say she had a crush on him would be an understatement. She can’t explain it. Some would call infatuation, some would call it chemistry, but smart ones say it’s because they are both devotees to the eye and she is in so much deeper than she has ever anticipated or even realises 👀

Rayn Porter: avatar of the corruption, marked by the flesh, the lonely and the stranger.

Rayn despises people (same queen 🙄) they put animals on a higher level of respect than humans. The corruption took ahold of them as a young child, they would always follow and play with cockroaches as a child. However their mother was to say the least an unempathetic, transphobic and cruel woman to say the least. Rayn was raised in a household full of scrutiny, hate and fear. Because of this had very little friends as the only social interaction they knew was their bitch ass mother they turned to the ‘pests’ of their home. Whether these were the slugs and snails in the basement of their home, or they were the cockroaches, house centipedes and rats that dwelled in their attic. They loved and appreciated them all, but their was still something deeper to it. A deep rot had started to form in Rayn and they hated their mother and family. They hated them for how they had cast them aside for not being female, they hated them for all the mistreatment they had faced as a child. The rot started small, a odd old smell that started to lurk around Rayn. Eventually others would notice the smell but would shrug it off as the smell would soon be covered by the smell of Rayns chain smoking. Then one day Rayn was staring in mirror poking at their face and squeezing. They found a sore on her face and squeezed it, pus comes out but something moves underneath. They squeeze harder and something wriggles forth, it’s a very small, juvenile cockroach, streaked slightly in something slimey. As you can imagine that fucked them up a bit, but they learnt to embrace it. Learnt to love that crawling away just underneath their skin are thousands of little legs connected to cockroach’s of many sizes. Sometimes if not managed roaches will find themselves sneaking out of nostrils, mouth and ears. Sometimes even out from behind her eyes. One way they feed the corruption is they set forth the filth at a selected location. All it takes is for them to place a cockroach down in a building and within a week there will be a infestation so strong causing the people in said building to be taken down with it. The Cockroaches will feed on those that they can over power and The Corruption always needs feeding... (Also just want to add cockroaches themselves aren’t actually dirty, they’re actually obsessive cleaners. the locations they live in are dirty)

Telltale Batman- Roz Traegers:

first encounter with John Doe (the eventually to be known Joker) was at the bar he frequented. They had never once seen him drink a drop of alcohol. He would order beer constantly for his alcoholic sure but never consume it himself. Aside from his alabaster white skin nothing about him seemed out of the ordinary to them. Well except the fact he liked to stare, a lot. You would constantly worry it’s because he was just judging you based on your appearance (a lot of people do) however John just likes to stare at people and found you interesting for some reason (cliches I know, but me and John Doe are basically the same person and I like to think he’d think I’m interesting). Roz has a great dislike towards the people John works with, they don’t appreciate how badly they treat him. Especially Harley. John is so obsessed with Harley and she treats him like absolute shit. Roz had a plan to get Harley arrested, however John found out and threatened to never speak to Roz again. Roz has a soft spot for Mr Freeze specifically from the gang also.

Vampyr: Rose Pine

works as an assistant to Camellia at the florist. Rose isn’t a very chatty person and has had quite a traumatic up bringing. Her mother, sister and father are all unfortunately deceased. Her father killed her mother, then sister, then Rose, then turned the knife on himself. Rose survived her injuries (hence the scar on her throat) and was put out into the adoption system. Roses father believed he had been doing his family a service by taking their lives before they could be claimed by Ekons. Roses father had been a vampire believer long before they had even breeched the city. Rose always waves hello to Jonathan Reid when she sees him galavanting around. He always waves back and occasionally they will exchange a conversation. One evening they exchange more than just brief chit chat when Jonathan is required to save her from a group of feral Skals. Rose is very badly injured from her encounter and Jonathan ends up having to change the sweet little florist he sees most evenings into a Ekon. Rose is also good friends with Charlotte Ashbury and Charlottes mother Elisabeth. I haven’t played Vampyr in a wee while, I want to get back into it soon so plan on adding more to her story.

Outlast: Rosie Porter

Rosie worked as a live in psychiatrist for those at mount massive asylum. She lives on the premises that way patient can be attended to at any time. Her experiences throughout life gives her empathy for those that are locked up, that the other guards and majority of other staff just don’t have. Rosie has always been able to empathise with those who would be considered ‘evil’ whether she empathised out of her own sick fascination or because of her heart hurting too much is another question. Rosies favourite patients are Eddie Gluskin and Chris Walker. She was hired after Jeremy Blaire forcibly admitted Chris Walker. Rosie is enamoured with Eddie and he knows it. Knows he has his little psychologist wrapped around his finger. However Eddie would be a hypocrite if he said he also wasn’t wrapped around her finger. Rosie is forcibly committed to the asylum by Jeremy Blaire they start Project Walrider on the patients. Rosie was against it and threatened to blow the whistle on the whole thing (dumb idea) and Jeremy uses her as the first female Walrider test subject. Rosie has engaged in an affair with her boss Jeremy Blaire when she first started working there. Due to their past ‘hands on’ relationship, Rosie is allowed more time with her patients and allowed to be alone with her patients. This has allowed for her to further her work with her patients, as they’re quite open when the know they aren’t being openly judged by the security staff.

Hannibal: Jessi Trees

is a forensic entomologist who works alongside Beverly, Jimmy and Brian analysing dead people n shit. Jessi first met Will Graham on the scene of a crime when they had both been called out. It was the mushroom killer from memory as the soil was packed with invertebrates filled with evidence. Will has just finished doing his whole ‘this is my design’ when Jessi walks up to him and stands quietly beside him, where they say: “These fuckers are filled with worms and I don’t know shit about worms” Will Graham turns and looks at them like what the fuck? Those are dead people. Jessi merely shrugs, smirks and walks off. Jessi can be described by a lot of people as ‘a cold person’ or ‘indifferent’ but passionate. They dehumanise the corpses they’re working with at that’s the only way they can get justice for them. If they get too caught up in all the sadness of it, they can’t move forward from it. Jessi has a crush on Will Graham and Beverly Katz. Jessi questions Will and Hannibals relationship quietly from the background but never really comments.

Bonus character!! Stardew Valley: Zoë

This bad ass came all the way from Zuzu city in need of a better and different life. They inherit their grandfathers old farm and get it up and running. The town is filled with wonderful, amazing people. But of course Zoë has to want to become close friends with the person who hates me everyone: Shane (they’re kindred spirits, Shane isn’t aware of this however because he seems to think he’s the only person who can suffer from substance abuse and sever depression haha.) Shane hates them of course until they keep harassing him and he reasilizes she’s a lot more screwed up than he was aware. Zoë is close friends with Shane (ends up marrying him one day), Linus (I would fucking die for him and anyone who’s cruel to him gets my foot in the butthole), Leah (they hang out frequently and like to paint in the forest together), Emily (I have a massive crush on Emily haha, she’s so similar to me it’s great), is also friends with Sam’s dad and Jodis husband Kent (Kent suffers from PTSD and I’ve developed a lot of my own techniques to help with my own PTSD so we help each other out. Also Jodi I’m stealing your husband, just kidding, unless). Zoë’s favourite animals on her farm are her blue chickens (raised by Shane) and her horse Aaron. Zoë’s favourite yearly event is the moonlight jellies festival!

Archie presents Ken Penders’ Knuckles the Echidna: A Postmortem

At long last, we’ve come to the end of the Knuckles solo series. Again, this is far from the end of the Penders Knuckles stories, but he no longer gets a whole series to himself. And thank God for that

While a 32 issue run (or really, 35, counting the first miniseries) might pale in comparison to Sonic’s nearly 300 issues, it’s a pretty impressive feat. That’s a lot of comics! A lot of series these days don’t get to enjoy runs that long. Hell, a lot are lucky to even last a year. And assuming that’s 22 pages of story in each issue, that means Penders got a whopping 770 pages of Knuckles comics where he got to do whatever he wanted

What did Penders spend those 770 pages doing? Well, he sure introduced a lot of new echidnas, that’s for damn sure. Let’s break down the Knuckles series arc by arc and briefly summarize what each one actually contributed to the world of Archie Sonic

Sonic’s Friendly Nemesis Knuckles miniseries #1-3

Characters Introduced: Enerjak. Knuckles also first meets Archimedes, who had been previously set up

Summary: Knuckles meets and begins to work together with Archimedes, who he inexplicably trusts right away. Enerjak comes back and announces he still wants to take over the world. Knuckles beats him up

Lasting Impact: Archimedes and Enerjak/Dimitri stick around as important-ish characters

Knuckles #1-3: The Dark Legion miniseries

Characters Introduced: The Dark Legion, Kragok, Steppenwolf, Christopholes, Menniker

Summary: The Dark Legion returns. The founding of the Brotherhood of Guardians is touched upon, as is their dumb pro-/anti-technology feud with the Dark Legion. Locke uses some sort of Chaos Emerald magic from afar to stop the Legion’s guns from firing so Knuckles can beat them up

Lasting Impact: The Dark Legion and the Brotherhood would be major players for the rest of the story

Knuckles #4-6: Lost Paradise

Characters Introduced: Julie-Su, Lara-Le, Remington, Helmut von Stryker, Gerbil, Hawking, Sabre, Wynmacher, some other fire ant whose name I forget

Summary: Ex-Dark Legionnaire Julie-Su suddenly defects from her faction to seek out Knuckles, because they “soul-touched” and now they’re destined to be lovers or something. Echidnaopolis suddenly comes back because reasons, and boy do they sure still have a lot of technology for people who said they renounced it. The dingoes are apparently evil fascists, and Hawking explains how racist he is to Knuckles.

Lasting Impact: Julie-Su and many of the characters here become mainstays in Knuckles’ supporting cast, and obviously Echidnaopolis becomes the main setting of the comic

#7-9: Dark Vengeance

Characters Introduced: The Echidna High Council, High Councilor Pravda

Summary: Enerjak comes back (again) and immediately becomes the new leader of the Dark Legion. Hawking is on life support. Enerjak kills Knuckles, but then the Ancient Walkers bring him back so he can be a Christ metaphor. Enerjak is defeated and turns back into Dimitri, who ages rapidly. Mammoth Mogul shows up so he can be trapped in the Master Emerald in the following Sonic issue

Summary: The Lost Tribe is introduced. They’ve apparently been searching for the ancient echidna homeland of Albion in a big caravan for centuries. The Day of Fury happens, which doesn’t amount to much here compared to the literal apocalypses that share the title in the lore. They make a pit stop over in Snottingham in the Sonic series for some Robin Hood shenanigans, then Knuckles walks on water to lead them to Albion and continue being a Christ metaphor

Lasting Impact: These characters and locations are EVENTUALLY revisited, but not in the remainder of the Knuckles solo series

#13-15: The Chaotix Caper

Characters Introduced: Harry the cab driver, Mello (while dying), Unnamed(?) Echidna Doctor and Nurse, Downtown Ebony Hare, his fox girlfriend, his bulldog goon, the scientist guy who was making the drugs, Charmy’s family, Saffron, Jeepers the Bee Butler, a bear biker gang, Bimmy

Summary: Charmy’s apparent best friend Mello dies of a drug overdose. To investigate, the Chaotix all go to an amusement park, eat the drug-laced food, trip balls, and almost die. Charmy’s past is expanded upon so that he can then go home and get written out of the series. Knuckles starts to show off his Chaos powers

Lasting Impact: Harry sorta stuck around. We know more about Charmy, who is now gone

#16-18: Reunions, Deep Cover

Characters Introduced: Tobor, Moritori Rex, Spectre, Sojourner, Thunderhawk, Tobor’s family

Summary: Knuckles finds out his mom is getting married to Wynmacher. We find out that Lara-Le had major problems with the way Locke raised Knuckles, which goes nowhere. The Brotherhood convenes. We find out that one of them has been replaced with someone evil for years through one of the dumbest twists in the history of these comics. Knuckles beats up Kragok in jail, then Kragok and Tobor fuck off into a “quantum beam,” apparently killing them both. I didn’t even realize they died when I first read this. That may be a retcon

Lasting Impact: Tobor and Kragok died I guess. Lara-Le and Wynmacher’s marriage is teased

#19-21: The Forbidden Zone

Characters Introduced: Prince Elias Acorn, Queen Alicia Acorn, the bulldog colonel and his wife, a baby

Summary: Geoffrey and pals show up from the main series to rescue the Queen, only to walk right up to the Acorn family compound on Angel Island with no trouble and meet Sally’s long lost brother Elias, who nobody knew about. The Queen, meanwhile, is in a pod. Locke and Lara-Le meet up and he tries to kiss her for some mindboggling reason. Knuckles gets mad about all the secrets and finally meets the Brotherhood, but his dad isn’t there at the time. He also fights Moritori Rex (fake Tobor), who gets away 

Lasting Impact: Elias would become quite important... over in the Bollers stories in the main series. He had nothing to do with Knuckles.

#22-24: Dark Alliance

Characters Introduced: Lien-Da, Benedict, Xenin

Summary: Echidna/dingo tensions rise in the runup to the election. Dimitri is a cyborg now. Lien-Da is apparently the new leader of the Dark Legion, and she kidnaps and brainwashes the High Councilor so they can rig the election. Tons and tons and tons of tasteless allusions to Nazi Germany and the Holocaust are made. Knuckles shows off his Chaos powers a little more. The fact that Remington is Kragok’s son is alluded to, but Penders never actually remembered to reveal this in a comic

#25: Childhood’s End

Characters Introduced: Harlan, Rembrandt, Aaron, one of Robotnik’s ancestors

Summary: Knuckles finally finds his dad... because he didn’t run away fast enough when Knuckles spotted him. Locke tells him the baby microwave story. He also tells him about a vision of the future he had, which scared him into doing all the horrible things he did, but this future never actually comes to pass in the comics. Knuckles immediately forgives his dad for experimenting on him

#26-28: The First Date (feat. Friend in Need)

Characters Introduced: Raynor (not to be confused with the other echidna named Raynor), a bunch of nameless furry girls for Vector to ogle; Nic the Weasel, the real Fiona Fox, Ray the Flying Squirrel

Summary: Julie-Su is mad at Knuckles, so she goes out with some other guy for half a day. Vector tries to get laid and acts like an incel. Locke gives Knuckles the talk. Knuckles finally actually asks Julie-Su out, then has his 16th birthday party. In the backup story, Mighty, Nic, and Fiona rescue Ray from a time anomaly, and Fiona’s past is explained

Lasting Impact: Knuckles and Julie-Su are dating now. Nic, Fiona, and Ray stuck around as important characters in the main series

#29: My Special Friend

Characters Introduced: None (but this is only one issue)

Summary: Sally tries to get help from the Brotherhood now that Robotnik is back in the main series, but they refuse because Sally won’t use guns. Knuckles is a centrist who won’t firmly side with Sally, so she leaves angrily. Along the way, Sally rationalizes her dad’s attempt at Robian genocide

#30-32: King of the Hill (feat. Espio the Chameleon)

Characters Introduced: Monk, Hunter, Snowpidgeon, Aryu One-Two; Barney, Liza, and several other unimportant chameleons

Summary: Knuckles’ childhood bully, a large purple gorilla, returns to Angel Island after being yeeted into the ocean by the Brotherhood years ago. A human hunter named Hunter shows up to reenact The Most Dangerous Game. Monk falls during the fight and dies. Hunter is captured. In the backup story, Espio has a run-in with the roboticized Valdez, his apparent best friend, who he then murders

Lasting Impact: Hunter eventually made a minor appearance in a Bollers story years later. Valdez dies

Are you noticing a trend? Things keep happening in these stories, but it rarely has much of an impact. One of the Guardians was a traitor all along? Eh, doesn’t affect much. The Dark Legion candidate in the election ends up being a robot and dies? Eh, they had a replacement ready--but also, the election didn’t matter anyway.

Rarely do we learn anything of value about the characters. Knuckles doesn’t grow much as a person, and he never gets much of a personality. Julie-Su’s whole life revolves around being soul bound to Knuckles with only the faintest hint of her own personality. The Chaotix never contribute anything of value. When something comes up to make us question Locke and the Brotherhood, Penders then goes “No, no, it’s fine. Don’t worry about it.”

Supporting characters and subplots that go nowhere keep getting introduced just so it can feel like a lot is going on, but it’s all shallow. Knuckles has like 12 grandpas, most of whom are still alive, and only maybe three of them are distinct in any way. They all just talk like Penders, just like every character in these comics (except for Vector, who gets to be Urban). Things just keep happening around Knuckles, often without his actual involvement, while Penders says that every other arc is the biggest most important thing that’s ever happened.

It’s the oldest trick in comics. End on a cliffhanger. Say that NEXT ISSUE something interesting will DEFINITELY happen. Promise that the story is going somewhere. Just keep buying more issues! But the payoff never comes

While Sonic’s better stories have him sprinting around the world, the Knuckles series just plops him down on a treadmill for 35 issues. In the background, he’s listening to a boring documentary about echidna lore and genealogies

The Darkest Storm (Part One): Gathering the Tempest

This three-part arc is a great example of how Ian is using his early time with the comic to sort of clean up and consolidate a lot of loose ends into something a little more coherent. For example, it's about time we learned a little more about Anonymous. Apparently, whoever it is has decided that the time has come to eliminate several key players in Mobius' eternal struggle for power, in pursuit of some unknown ultimate goal. Strangely enough, whoever it is seems to be interested in destroying Sonic as well - perhaps due to Sonic's tendency to stop any attempts to take over the world - but doesn't seem to want to undermine Eggman. After all, remember that the very first thing Anonymous ever did was send Eggman a "gift" of re-roboticized Mobians. Anonymous has decided to use Knothole as a staging ground for whatever they're planning next, and begins the process of setting their plan in motion…

In Knothole, King Elias attempts to restore Sonic's knighthood as thanks for everything he's done for the kingdom. However, Sonic refuses, saying he's not too concerned with titles and that there's already a knight in the family, in the form of Uncle Chuck. However, Elias says that as a new king, he's trying to restore the Court of Acorn to advise him, including calling on some old members… two of which have just showed up to visit Tails.

Oh man, remember Sir Connery from StH#45? The incredibly forgettable and random horse knight guy who works for the Ancient Walkers and hates "dark magicks" and whatnot? Yeah, I guess nowadays he just follows Merlin around to protect him from anything bad that comes at him. In New Megaopolis, Eggman is thrilled that the "biofield deletion" has nearly completed on all his Mobian captives in the Egg Grapes. Apparently, once they're drained of all their life energy, he can use the husks of their bodies to kind of "filter" the energy from the Zone of Silence into something stable and usable, which just once again reminds us of how utterly terrifying this iteration of Eggman is compared to his counterpart in the games and anime. Like, Jesus Christ, dude, at least games Eggman doesn't casually torture thousands of people just because he can! He even admits to M that there's probably a more efficient way to accomplish his goals, but it just wouldn't be as fun. He asks A.D.A.M. if there's been any luck identifying Anonymous yet, but A.D.A.M. replies that he still hasn't found anything, which frustrates Eggman even more. Weirdly enough, he seems to think that Anonymous is the one who released his nanites several issues ago, even though we know that it was just A.D.A.M. interpreting his orders a little too liberally.

Also, it's time to resurrect a dropped plot thread from some time ago. Remember how the Ancient Walkers were supposed to be dying and all? Well despite the fact that we haven't heard anything on that in some time, apparently they are totally still dying, and despite Athair and Aurora in the afterlife trying to reassure them that they'll find a way to save them with Merlin's help, they seem to have accepted their impending death, naming Aurora, Athair, and Merlin as their successors who must keep the world in balance once they're gone. Wow, Aurora may already be a deity in her own right, but the other two are about to get an exciting upgrade on life! And they're gonna need to start using it too, because back in Knothole, right as Merlin, Sir Connery, and Tails are heading to the castle to meet with the king, they're set upon by some familiar faces.

Ah, so these guys have picked a new name, huh? It's just as well, the "Fearsome Foursome" would hardly work anymore with there being six of… wait… hang on a second. Weren't these guys supposed to be roboticized by Anonymous? Not only that, but Sonic and the fake Tommy destroyed those roboticized forms a while back… so how are they still here, alive and well? Sonic doesn't even appear to notice the discrepancy once he rushes in to help along with the rest of the Freedom Fighters (including Sally!), merely mocking their new name before he and his friends knock them all out. Knuckles and his team stay behind to make sure they don't get away, while the Freedom Fighters lead the guests to the castle. Sir Connery explains that his sword is the Sword of Light, given to him by the Ancient Walkers, which has the power to purge evil magic, and he's been guarding Merlin for the express purpose of making sure that Mammoth Mogul, stuck in his Chaos Emerald, can't ever escape again. Interestingly enough, thousands of years ago the Ancient Walkers actually saw what Mogul would become in the future, and decided that while they weren't gonna bother actually stopping him, they would at least put a curse on his emerald so that his plans would always eventually fail. Of course, however, things can't just be that easy.

Oh lord, not the Sword of Acorns again. Sally recaps how she got rid of the thing because it was getting entirely too possessive of her (literally), giving it to Uma Arachnis' children for safekeeping. However, this turns out to have been a terrifically bad idea, as while Sonic confidently assures everyone that they can get it back and save the Ancient Walkers, said children of Arachnis are all busy swarming into Eggman's base. Just as the biofield deletion completes on the captured Mobians, killing them all for good, the ninjas strike, at the same time that the Egg Grapes suddenly and mysteriously power back on. M carries her father to safety, and the ninjas hold up the sword, which tears a hole between dimensions, causing a number of effects. For one, the void fuses permanently with the Zone of Silence, stabilizing it and increasing its raw power. For another, all Eggman's soulless Mobian husks are sucked into the void to facilitate this process, meaning he just lost all his precious work. And finally…

Welp! Goodbye, Ancient Walkers! I honestly can't say I'll miss you, you weird plot devices you. Back in Knothole, in the middle of a short speech about working together to create a better future, the emerald in Merlin's hand suddenly shatters, and when the light fades everyone is horrified to see Mogul standing in front of them, ready to go about conquering the world once more…

Ties That Bind

This story actually isn't separate from the one above, but takes place concurrently - presumably either right before what we saw above, or directly during, after M evacuated Eggman from the Egg Grape Chamber. Snively is working in one of Knothole's labs, but it's with a distinct lack of enthusiasm, feeling like he doesn't really know why he's here, as he's always been aligned with villains, never heroes. He finds himself comparing himself to his half-sister Hope, who has easily settled into life amongst Mobians despite her species. However, his ruminations don't last long, as someone has decided to come and visit him personally.

Man, Eggman, when did you gain the ability to just teleport into Knothole whenever you want? Seems like you'd be using that a lot more to sabotage stuff behind everyone's backs. Snively asks for a moment to himself before going back, which Eggman surprisingly grants him, and he rushes outside to find Hope. He tries making some awkward small talk with her, complimenting her on the plane she's building and casually mentioning that it could take her very far away from here, which only makes her wonder what the heck he's getting at.

I really love this. Snively was already an interesting character, and under Ian's writing he's quickly becoming a truly complex and fascinating one. Despite hating his uncle, he's always held some amount of loyalty to him, and now we see that he seems to truly care about Hope's wellbeing, recognizing that she's an innocent in all this and not wanting her to die in Eggman's planned attack on the village. That said, he's still selfish, and ultimately betrays the Mobians once again to go back to his uncle's side, even thinking to himself, standing inside one of Eggman's Egg Fleet ships, how ironic it is given how much betraying he's already done of both sides, in both wars. He asks Eggman why he's even bothering to trust him, knowing of his traitorous nature, and Eggman says that he fully knows Snively intends to try to betray him again in the future, and will be happily awaiting his attempt so he can thwart it, prompting Snively to remark it's "just like old times." What an interesting and strange relationship these two have. And what an interesting outlook Eggman has, not being particularly concerned with his minions wishing to betray him and even seeing it as all some kind of twisted game. Honestly, if there's any character that I think was universally improved by Ian with no drawbacks whatsoever, it's Snively, and we'll get to see even more of that improvement and depth in the future.

GoT S8 Dark Moments Speculation

Remember how in Game of Thrones, murdering mothers and/or their children was a thing?

First, somebody tried to murder Bran by sending a catspaw with a Valyrian steel dagger. It failed because Catelyn and Summer was there to save Bran.

Then Robert wanted to send an assassin with a knife to kill D/enerys. Robert’s effort failed and it made Khal Drogo willing to attack Westeros when previously he didn’t want to yet. But then Khal Drogo died.

Then Janos Slynt killed a baby girl who was Robert’s bastard with a knife. Joffrey gave the order. All of Robert’s bastards was murdered, except Gendry. This is what first brought my attention because Ros talked about the murder of the baby girl in the same episode when Gilly’s pregnancy was foreshadowing Sansa’s.

2x02 - The Night Lands

Pregnant Talisa was murdered in the Red Wedding.

The Night King changing Craster’s babies into White Walkers.

Ramsay killed Walda and her son.

Elia and her children.

And so on...

I think in season 8, this will came back as the show’s darkest moments and I think the murder attempt will happen to Jon and Sansa’s baby. Jon’s parentage reveal made him a person with a stronger claim than D/ny to take the throne. But for him to try and take the throne, a strong catalyst is required because he’s someone who is not power hungry and a murder attempt to his child may just do it. He will try to take the throne to protect his family.

I made a speculation that Jon and Sansa will consummate their love unwed before a big battle and Sansa will have a baby from it. A baby who has a strong claim to throne and could possibly bring supports from the lords of Westeros. They didn’t make Gendry’s parentage a big deal before for nothing.

“You will make Kings rise and fall”

I don’t think that Gendry himself will make Kings rise and fall. I mean, he probably already did, through Mel’s blood magic, but I’m talking about the future here. Jon and Sansa’s son will be a bastard boy with a lot to inherit from both parents.

One of the scenes I used interpret as foreshadowing for Jon and Sansa to consummate their love before marriage was Ned and Robert’s conversation in the Kingsroad. In that same conversation, Robert was talking about sending an assassin with a knife to D/ny because of the news that she married Khal Drogo.

By the way in another post, I connected the word whore as Sansa’s foreshadowing.

As for who will order the murder, I have in another post propose 3 possible suspect: Cersei, Night King and D/ny. I don’t need to discuss Cersei and Night King, they’re evil, period. As for D/enerys, at first I didn’t have evidence. The only thing that lead me to it is because of Emilia Clarke’s strong reaction towards her character’s story in season 8. Right now I am leaning more and more towards D/ny. She was the target at first. For her to be ordering one at the end......the irony!

Other than Jaime-Cersei-Robert, Dany-Jon-Sansa also have a parallel with Loras-Renly-Margaery. Renly was stab in the back by a shadow baby and I think this is a symbolism for D/ny to be stab in the back by Jon/Sansa’s baby.

There’s a reason why D/ny’s inability to have children was brought over and over again and I think it’s not to give hints for a magical Targcest baby and it’s not even a red herring. It is indeed to emphasize her inability to produce an heir. One of those scene is coupled with her reluctance to talk about succession. So how would she feel if her nephew who is actually in line before her as heir to the throne has managed to produced an heir with a lady with a strong name? Ramsay killed his stepmother and brother because he was afraid that his baby brother will take his claim. Ramsay killing his baby brother was foreshadowed through a jonsa parallel in an episode titled “Kill the Boy”. 

And if D/ny does threaten Sansa and her child with Jon, with the possibility of her making Jon a Stark, making Jon’s child Starks instead of Targaryens, and her threat made Jon fight D/ny, then Sansa’s word to Ramsay would be really worth repeating to her

“Your words will disappear. Your house will disappear. Your name will disappear. All memory of you will disappear”.

After all, she is the last Targaryen.

7x03 - The Queen’s Justice

In the context of the scene, it could be teasing for Jon’s parentage secret. But I think it could also be a foreshadowing for her to really be the last Targaryen.

1x01 - Winter is Coming

Because a Stark will make the last living male heir of House Targaryen, take the Stark name, making D/enerys the last Targaryen.

D/ny brought up about sending assassins for murdering babies in one of her speech towards Jon.

Her descend to darkness would be complete if this is what she would do. A Targaryen alone in the world is indeed a terrible thing.

I don’t know if the baby will survive or not, but there’s hope. Maybe Auntie No One is going to protect the baby.
