My son and I visited East Coast Bagel and earned a free cup of coffee for wearing orange. #stopgunviolence #christinenailarttherapy #everytownforgunsafety (at East Coast Bagel Co) https://www.instagram.com/p/ByamZmAgfyC/?igshid=u4qw7hexc4ov

#canitellyou enough is enough! When will our politicians finally do what’s urgently needed? Incredibly saddened and angered by the loss of so many innocent lives, not just in Uvalde, but in Buffalo and in Laguna Woods. And that’s just this year. It’s time to act, not just grieve. Follow and donate to @everytown. Let’s help prevent gun violence and save lives. Grief Into Action
Earlier today a gunman walked into Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas and murdered eighteen children and three adults. I will not say the gunman’s name nor ever write it out here, and I will not speculate as to what his motive was. Instead, I will try to address a question so many people asked yesterday: what can we do to stop this from happening again in the future? The following are based…

GIVE US A CHANCE TO LIVE. GIVE US A CHANCE TO GO TO THE MOVIES. GO TO SCHOOL. GO TO A CONCERT. I’m so proud of this generation for being the future of change in this country. Stay mobilized. Stay motivated. Meeting the children from Parkland and performing for survivors and kin to the slain was the highest honor. Thank you once again for having me @everytown @giffordscourage @marchforourlives. This is just the beginning✊🏿#marchforourlives #everytownforgunsafety #blacklivesmatter (at The Anthem)

I #wearorange today in honor or Breonna Taylor because an obligation to use firearms responsibly does not end at the precinct door. And to all the young people out there, growing up in a home under the threat of gun violence. Know this: You are not alone. And, sometimes, beautiful things grow out of even the darkest places. #wearorange #everytownforgunsafety #everytown #gunviolenceawareness (at Brooklyn, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBD-4WIAFnd/?igshid=3ycnsxkx8jg2

Orange you ready for a change? We can end gun violence!!!🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 I am wearing orange today in support of @everytown + @momsdemand to help raise awareness regarding common sense gun reform. Gun violence awareness day was started by friends of Hadiya Pendleton (whose favorite color was orange) a 15 year old life taken taken way too soon by gun violence. More info at wearorange.org & on the swipe➡️ ***Today would have been Breonna Taylor’s 27th birthday. Bre was an award-winning EMT in KY who was shot & killed when plain clothed police officers raided the wrong apartment in the middle of the night without a legal warrant. Help sign the petition to bring her justice at the link in bio. 🖤#wearorange #timeforchange #gunviolenceawarenessday #commonsensegunreform #hadiyapendleton #breonnataylor #sayhername #theirlivesmatter #justiceforbreonnataylor #gonetoosoon💔 #notinvain #everytownforgunsafety #everytown #gunreform #endgunviolence #itmuststop #toomanyliveslost #popart #selfportrait #illo #illustration #sarahphelps #sarahephelps #saraphia #saraphia https://www.instagram.com/p/CBDqfSVlpe3/?igshid=h6jf421rj14g

this should not be that controversial of a statement. And yet...I was on my way to a friend's place in Long Beach earlier today when I decided to stop somewhere to grab a coffee (this all actually happened, by the way). After I finished placing my order, an older gentleman wearing a "Trump 2020" cap came up to me. He saw what my shirt said and told me straight up, "You know, it's shit like that and kids like you why this country's so fucked now". I resisted the urge to tear this asshole a new one (and avoid making a scene that could make things worse) and said back to him, "Sir, I don't think this says anything that any other decent person would disagree with. I think what you just said says a lot more about you than this shirt does about me." Thankfully before he could say anything else in return, I grabbed my coffee and left as fast I could without saying another word (the guy yelled some pretty colorful things at me and tried to follow me out, but thankfully he had a limp and I was able to get away from him pretty easily). I recognize how fortunate I was in this situation in that it didn't escalate or get any worse. I recognize the privilege I had and know that if he were a younger, more violent man, and my skin was just a little bit darker than it is now...this could have gone a lot worse. Regardless of your opinions on firearms, I think we can all agree that the safety and livelihood of other people, especially children, should be the priority over your right to own or use a gun. This shouldn't be the new normal. Parents shouldn't have to look online for bulletproof backpacks for their kids, children shouldn't have to go through routine shooter drills at school, and people in this country shouldn't have to be terrified of going to a concert or shopping or to church of all fucking places. There is an epidemic in this country spawned from a culture of violence, bigotry, and toxic masculinity. And the only to save ourselves and our kids is to own up to that and actually try to make a fucking difference. Now, before it's too late. #gunreformnow #guncontrolnow #nomoreschoolshootings #everytownforgunsafety (at Long Beach, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1DANGuH6O5/?igshid=vuid9gz1z306

Today I #WearOrange because it's time to pass common sense #GunReform. Last Friday was the 150th day of 2019...& the 150th mass shooting this year. We're now 101 days since the House passed universal #BackgroundChecks.
