forced to go to work when i'm truly meant to agonize over the underlying theme of adults failing the children they're meant to protect & nurture in scarvio.

Something interesting I noticed about Arven is that, he represents the Present.
In the little notes you see in the Crater, it is implied the other professor (Turo in Scarlet and Sada in Violet), walked out on Arven and his in game parent. Arven is very clearly meant to be the child of both Sada and Turo.
Sada studies the Past, and Turo studies the Future. Their obsessions with their work took them away from what was happening in the Present. From ARVEN.
Something I see a lot in my mental health work is that if people are too focused on their pasts, or what might happen in the future, they are disconnected from the reality of the present moment. This makes it hard to maintain relationships and provide for yourself and others.
Arven is a metaphor for what can happen when you become too absorbed in your work, or with the past/future. Sada/Turo cared for Arven, as seen by the writings and pictures in the Crater, but their obsession with "Paradise" and with their work meant they weren't existing in the moment, or paying attention to those around them.
Ultimately, this led to the loss of close relationships and the abandonment of their son. And then, it led to their own death.
Arven is stuck in between the past his mother craved and the future his father was writing. It broke him. And what put him back together again was not his parents, but the friends he had with him at that moment. Who kept him rooted to the present. Us, the Player. Nemona. Penny. Our found family friend group starts Arven on the path to healing from the results of his parent's obsessions and missteps.
This game is such a good allegory for the importance of a social network when dealing with mental health, and how preoccupation with past/future events and your work can take away everyone and everything you once cared about.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have their flaws, but MAN is this one of the best stories we have gotten.

Ingo in Paldea. But when he was a teen. AND BEFORE HATERS SAY ANYTHING, INGO IS NOT SHIPPED ROMANTICALLY WITH ANY OF THE SCARVIO CHARACTERS!!!
Am i jumping the timeline a bit? Yes. Do i care? No.
So ingo, WITHOUT Emmet, is a foreign student who just moved in to Paldea for a few years at Academy(4-5ish years?) and everything that happens in scarvio games happens with Ingo as the “mc”.
Nemona and Ingo are battle buddies who sometimes meet up in either region(emmet usually tags along) and still keeps contact with Nemona well into their adult years. Ingo unfortunately lost to Nemona during the champion, not that Nemona was upset about as she was won by like a breadth of a hair and openly invites Ingo to come fight for Paldean champion title whenever he wants.
He still has his paldean team and thoroughly adores his Meowscarada(hes a cat person). Meowscarada is one of his favorite owned pokemon. His paldean team btw is meowscarada, gardevoir, orthworm(lovingly named Subway), lampent(when he arrived)/chandelure, fraxure/haxorus and klang/klinklang. He loves his pokemon dearly.
Penny and Ingo had something of an acquaintance relationship before his coming to paldea, as they went to the same school in unova when penny was studying abroad. They really formed a friendship during his days as he enacted Operation Starfall. They totally share silly pictures of their pokemon to each other irregularly.
Arven and Ingo had a sort, domestic research partners relationship. After finding out about Mabostiff earlier than Arven had intended Ingo became an adamant ally in healing the dark type. Arven is forever grateful for Ingo’s help and will drop everything as a Pokémon dietician to come to ingo’s aid. Mabostiff also really likes ingo :)
Has a miraidon ride pokemon and koraidon battler. Koraidon, being a past pokemon and therefore more territorial, chased miraidown out of the crater. Miraridon is practically hardwired to have a more docile nature due to its(assumed) constant interaction with humans in the future, so it was easy to chase the living bike away. AIs of both Sada and Turo are fought, both with their respective ‘raidons. Chandelure was out of her ball when they were locked before the battle.
Teen!Ingo and Larry made a tired and always-looks-pissed alliance when they met and still talk from time to time.

Epilogue/Author’s final note
Tumblr media
Idk if anyone’s been paying attention to how the blog has been transforming over the course of the story, both in answers + meta blog layer, but I hope it’s been a fun ride! I wanted to thank you those who wrote really nice words again ;u; it means a lot, especially when I poured a lot into this blog (Probably more than I should lol.)
Anyway, I really wanted to do a full write up of the blog’s plot/timeline... A summary of the vision, if you will.
Arc 1: An idyllic universe
Tumblr media
I’d be lying if I had this plot from the beginning, but the whole of it certainly came in a rush. Anyway, the beginning of this story was very much an AU where Sada and Turo did leave the crater, reuniting with Clavell and Arven before dying. It’s a universe where everything is perfect, and certainly one that Clavell of every universe dreams of, regardless of whether he’s romantically involved with anyone.
Arven gets to have his parents, Clavell gets to have his childhood friends by his side, Sada and Turo see that Paradise was never something found in the past and future.
Tumblr media
Arc 2: A crumbling dream
Then, a desire to explore zerotrio “canon” overcame me, and I thought it might be fun to pursue a change in direction via story, as opposed to usual ask blog announcements/retcons. So... upon the mention of harm coming to the trio, Clavell assures himself that Sada and Turo are fine.
Thus begins the crumbling of this ideal world, with Clavell becoming sickly and grieving for something he doesn’t know... But Sada and Turo do. Throughout these few asks, whoever’s responsible for this dream is implied... and I think I’ll leave that for you to guess :)
Tumblr media
Reality is rushing back at Clavell, and eventually time runs out for him. Sada and Turo know this, and I hoped I made it clear how apologetic they are (Love these complex, problematic, but fiercely loving professors lol. Their personalities are so intense, Clavell always in the crossfire)...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Arc 3: Zero Lab era
Suddenly, Clavell was no longer available to respond... as per his injury. Instead we have the Zero Lab Search queries: An opportunity for people to investigate what truly happened between the trio historically. No better certainty in happenings than real video footage, no?
An added plus was to show the trio’s early relationship together during the Tera Orb research eras... Fluffy filler between the grimness of what becomes of them.
Tumblr media
Although the “footage” isn’t posted in chronological order, they are all still roughly dated to show a coherent-ish timeline of Sada +Turo and Clavell beginning to have different priorities for Arven’s sake. Arguments had and never truly resolved... logs of Sada and Turo’s absence in Arven’s young life... so forth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Peppered amidst all these were little clues, as well as puzzles. I attempted to throw a red herring, wanting to keep Sada and Turo’s deaths a not so secret for longer.
Tumblr media
Eventually however, we reach present day, with lots of footage locked or damaged. Clavell, Sada and Turo are never shown, but their impacts of their action are. (These poor poor wild Scream Tails haha.)
Tumblr media
Arc 4: Present day
We finally arrive at the true present day... with Clavell facing off Protocol Sada and Turo on his own.
Tumblr media
The reveal isn’t a crazy twist, nor did I really want it to. But the build up had been for a tragedy we already knew/are familiar with: that Sada and Turo died for their dreams....
But in these final moments where Clavell woke from a vision that felt too real, Protocol Sada and Turo weren’t immune to it either.
Tumblr media
Zero Lab queries no longer function as they used to, and asking about the past hurts. Sada and Turo’s conscious speaks through the logs. (Its true workings I leave to your imagination, but I liked the thought of the AI and Protocol representing the two parts of a whole Professor.) We see the final moments of Sada and Turo in what is a death-defying retrospective.
Tumblr media
What next... complicated/messy resolutions. Clavell saved, Sada and Turo “alive” but different. It’s more open ended than I intended, but I think it’s also alright to leave things to the imagination...
The trio have always been in search of their respective treasures, and though it takes a long and rough journey...
Tumblr media
... lost treasure can always be found.

Thinking about Arven's other parent wanting to be in his life after the events of the game, and how Dadvell would be conflicted about the whole thing given his history with the professor(s), and not sure how to best help Arven since he can't really be unbiased here so he goes to the only person he can think of for advice - Hassel, who knows a thing or two about pestering, boundary disrespecting families and Will Not Stand for any of his students going through that without support.
So, over tea in Dadvell's office, Hassel tells Arven that his feelings are completely valid, and that if the other professor truly wants to do what's best for Arven (and not their newly developed guilty conscious) they'll respect his wishes and his boundaries. But what really gets the emotions going is when he tells Arven that its possible to both mourn the relationship he never got with his parents while also actively avoiding the opportunity to forge a new one given everything that happened in between - Sada/Turo wanting to connect now doesn't erase the 17 years since they left.
(and after that tea time, he's Uncle Hassel from there out :') )
UNCLE HASSEL TO THE RESCUE 🤧🤧❤️

What connection do you think Geeta has to Area Zero? Her ace Pokémon is a Glimmora, which can only be found in Area Zero, and the league/academy was responsible for funding the professor’s research iirc.
I have... a LOT of questions about Geeta that I am really hoping the DLC clears up in some capacity
One of the most important ones in terms of this ask and just in general is exactly when she became top champion. Was it before Sada / Turo started their research-- and by extension was she in charge of / knew about the money being afforded to them? Her relation to the professors and their tera research is majorly going to affect exactly how much she knows about Area Zero and everything going on down there. I also have to wonder if she was there while Team Star was getting bullied and whether that whole situation / the entire staff leaving is relevant to how she runs the academy / conducts her relationship with the school and Clavell. But that's a rabbit hole for another time.
Anyway. On one hand you have the possibility that Geeta came in after the tera orb research is completed-- we know that the league more or less separated themselves from the professors as soon as they got the tera orb so if this is the case I wouldn't doubt that Geeta just has no fucking idea about any of the time machine stuff. This also explains why Miss Micromanagement wouldn't stick her nose into all that drama or at least try and interfere with stuff / deal with it herself. Atm I'm assuming this is the case because Geeta seems surprisingly uninvolved with anything professor wise, and her personality seems to imply she would be a little more entrenched in all the paradox nonsense if she knew about it
On the OTHER hand we have the possibility that Geeta joined before the tera research and maybe even gave the professors the money. Personally I'm not super stroked about this interpretation bc 1. it leans way farther towards the "geeta is evil" side of things, which I find particularly boring, and 2. the amnt of questions it offers gives me pause. If Geeta knew about the professors' research, it begs the question of why she wasn't hounding them / checking up on them at all. Geeta is pretty involved with / protective of Nemona and talks constantly about the future of Paldea, so her knowing about but ignoring Arven seems strange to me. It's possible she did know about the professors but that they just hid the time machine / AI really well, but honestly I'm not sold on that. Knowing Geeta, she would have bothered them / done checkups if she knew which makes me wonder why she's so disconnected from th professors even moreso than Clavell. Unless she did know and was hiding something, but again, League Chairwoman secretly evil is kinda. eh.
Anyway, I DO think she has a connection to Terapagos and Area Zero somehow, but that it may not necessarily involve the professors or anything we've seen thus far. I adore making AUs where she's more intertwined with the gods of the crater (and the status of the crater as a living thing but that's another post) and in general love exploring the idea, but as of now canon seems to be implying she either knows very little about the professors' / crater's whole Deal or she's hiding smth. I'm leaning towards the former

I recently read some very very good Turo/Sada early relationship fic, and God the inspiration to write about the Zerotrio ship... I don't think I'll get to drawing any comic for them, but maybe a short one shot... we'll see.
ANYWAY, some rambles on how I see their relationship:
Sada +Turo were academy friends, and have known each other for longer than they have with Clavell, whom they meet over lab in the academy and even closer in research for area zero.
Everything is quite tied to the tera crystal research, in that the trio are in constant close proximity due to researching together, and living in the lab dorms and such. There's quite a lot of fuss about making the space a little homey from Clavell, which results in things being a little cosier. a little plastic potted plant, some photographs, etc haha.
Clavell is the unexpected third in their group, and definitely the mediator/mom friend for Sada and Turo's very antagonistic relationship haha. The two profs are very much opposites and a lot of their relationship is about quipping/torturing/antagonising the other between some genuine sweet moments. Eg. Sada calling him stupid and Turo calling her an idiot. Affectionately psft. Clavell is very tired to be wedged between these two very fiery personalities, and often the one to break apart the continuous "playfighting" lol. You can imagine the other two going "See! Even Clavell thinks you're stupid." It's to Clavell's exasperation and fondness haha.
On calmer days in the lab though, they work like a well oiled machine, going over lab results and datasets and whatnot. It's their version of shared domesticity, Clavell bringing the two profs coffee in the way they like it, Turo giving Clavell a shoulder massage as they go over reports together, Sada dragging both boys to play Twister with her when Clavell forces them to take a break (To Clavell's :[ because he sucks at these and the other two know it lol)
Anyway, cue some day when all this tension bubbles into Clavell finding his colleagues and dear friends making out with each other lol. It's very much "Oh my" and some yearning involved (It's not like he himself has much of a social life, holed up deep in the labs). Both Sada and Turo are more than happy to bundle Clavell into the middle of their fiery relationship lol. With the other professor they find similar passion and energy, with Clavell it's a promise of home and warmth.
Anyway, idk maybe this ship is too far a stretch but the imagined dynamic of it is so much fun hahah 😂 dunno if anyone else ships it, I mainly did for the angst that comes with it, plus the bonus of closer Arven and Clavell, but also think the three would've gelled really really well.

gio moment tell me about one of your favorite threads! it can be something you played with this muse or any other, follow your ♥
Tumblr media
OOugh,,where do I begin — lemme shout a few that occupy my mind rn.
edit: this got so long so slippy under a cut it goes:
last complete thread with @lvsamine. I like exploring his relationships before SCARVIO on people he's met and worked with possibly. This is a sort of break in his melancholy; recognizing and being comfortable with someone who knows him for his work rather then ... uh, you know. There's literal changes in his demeanor from light returning to his tired eyes and getting excited over working with Lusamine and Aether on a big project.
And it's also the start of a shift in his story too.
Throughout the blog he's been teetering between "being good": recapturing escaped paradox pokemon, reluctantly remeeting people in Paldea, slowly taking on actual regional professor duties, and rebuilding the Poco lab to keep track of the Crater from above. But he's also very solemn and withdrawn.
But then there's moments of excitement, of going through efforts to get work done, explore and build something....granted this all happens during temptations. His mind strays from staying out of pathways that quickly get him into trouble. He gets so excited sometimes he doesnt see or even care that what hes doing is going to hurt him or someone else in the end. It's very easy to fall back into comfortable, malign habits.
Talking with Lusamine, remembering and feeling invigorated by all the work he did and the things he discovered ... he questions if its worth forcing himself into a comfortable and safe box to appease people is worth it when he feels so much better "breaking boundaries and discovering impossibilities" people are going to be scared of and that's their problem. But he forgets ya know...Arven, the son he left behind and like...all the destruction his "happiness and well being" selfishly takes.
He's always cusping a villain arc or good direction and I love seeing wherever it goes as more plots and interactions come by ; >c
v. paradox verse in particular, the whole “hey Sada used the Time Machine to yoink Turo from a point in time before he gets mauled so things are hunky dorey again but oops, it’s a lot more complicated then that and there’s emotions all over” deal
There’s several threads with nox/ @prosada that I love but in particular the thread where Turo is completely existential on him being here. He’s having a hard time trying to step back into a husband/father role like nothings happened. Arven is very indifferent with him as expected which causes Arven and Sada to get into a lot of arguments Turo of course overhears cause hey its a small lighthouse-house and he has ears. So Turo being Turo turns to absolute truths like physics and numbers and equations when he can’t emotionally deal with something. And what do you know…! It definitely spells out he should be dead and it’s very unnatural he’s here and it’s putting everything off. He takes this as a certain and gets really distant and sad and quiet. He doesn’t belong here and maybe he and Sada could never naturally stay together in any timeline.
But Sada comes in, smacks that idea out of his head cause it’s silly. She literally shattered expectations and literal laws of physics, time and reality itself to change that to get him back.
Can you believe he’s loved so much that someone literally became a momentary God to change the fabric of reality itself? Just for him?? For their family??? No matter how dysfunctional??? Cause he didn’t until he realizes it and does a 180 in perspective and it!! Just makes him so happy and so awestruck and --
I JUST REREAD IT ON OCCASION…ON THE REALLY BAD DAYS…STILL GET EMOTIONAL OVER IT….
Okay both have really good writing and reaaallly good grasps on their characters too hh.
There's like several other threads I have in mind too but this got ridiculously long; might have to make a new post sometime.

That's an interesting perspective! I personally never read Arven in the post game forgiving his parents. I always saw it as him trying to fill in the gaps for himself and make his own judgement on them, but never really forgiving them. Even if he does gain some fondness for them for the people they used to be, maybe even admiring it, I still don't think he ever forgave them. Rather, I think it's him just processing everything, maybe try to get an answer to "why". That's just me however.
I definitely don't think they are as bad as Ghetsis. I mean- they all are terrible parents, don't get me wrong. Ghetsis never once cared for N- that was clear. N was a pawn to his own goals and it's implied that he was going to dispose of N once his role was complete. N was a tool to make Ghetsis feel better about himself, really. Sada and Turo are terrible, neglectful parents. There's no excuse for what they have done to Arven. But I wouldn't say they didn't care for him. The paradise they looked for was for him, but in searching for that paradise, it became the only thing that mattered. I hope that made sense. Basically, in my eyes, the professors genuinely loved Arven, but ultimately ended up being terrible parents. In trying to bring paradise to him, they ended up neglecting him( I always feel I fall short when it comes to explaining my feelings here so I hope I explained it well). Again, not excusing them for neglecting his son, or saying they're secretly good parents!Of course that's just me, and you don't have to agree with me here. This is just how I see it.
And finally, yes! I totally agree that ai Sada/Turo can't change their creators actions here. Helping Arven reach an understanding is honestly the best thing they can do, since I feel like their presence would just be a hindrance to Arven's own growth and processing of the situation. How can you come to terms that your parents- regardless of relationship - are dead when their copies are literally right behind you? As you said, Arven should be able to make his own future for himself.
Is it bad that I personally see that even ai Sada/Turo was able to live with Arven outside of Area Zero, I don't think that's....good. Like it's something that I don't think would benefit Arven.
The kid was already emotionally neglected by his parents before, literally left to take care of himself with basic necessities given to him. Yeah, his parents loved him. But they still left him and didn't give him the care that a child needed. And here comes an ai version of said parents who, admittedly, portray the emotions that the real ones would have showed if they weren't so involved in their work. But I feel by then, it's too late? Even Arven says it himself, they can't just say that after everything. Because it honestly means nothing. So in a world where the ai version of the professors manage to come out of the crater after the whole thing in Area Zero, I don't think Arven would really want anything to do with them? At most, it's him asking about who his parents were before everything to understand them better, like he did in the post game. But other than that, he just wants to move on. He doesn't need copies of his parents to linger behind him anymore. The love and care is nice, but kinda means nothing after everything he's been through. He doesn't need to cling onto that anger anymore. He can live his life now, with a found family of his own.
Of course, that's just me! I don't expect everyone to agree with my mindset here. I'm replaying the game so maybe it will change, or maybe it won't. Who knows lol.

There’s been a lot of speculation lately over whether Arven is Professor Sada and Turo’s kid or not.
At first I had it in my head that, if these two do appear together and the other professor isn’t sentenced to The Shadow Realm along with the rest of the characters that disappear from the game altogether depending on your choices (Leaf if you play as Red in FRLG and Avery in Sword, for example), then they would have a fight on sight sort of relationship.
But now, I have another theory: Sada and Turo are the most obnoxiously lovey-dovey couple, up until their work gets involved.
Arven is but an innocent bystander during their debates, and Arceus help him if they try to get him to weigh in with his opinion.
Arven: ... ... ... I think I hear the timer on the oven going off.  *insert cartoony ZOOM sound effect here*
IMPORTANT POST-GAME EDIT:
Tumblr media
I WAS RIGHT ABOUT THE PROFESSORS BEING HIS PARENTS BUT THAT’S IT.
I WAS SO, SO WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE.

Dadvell AU: After he adopts Arven, he makes sure to call up Sada, who was also his friend but walked out on Turo when Arven was little bc she and Turo kept clashing and a bit of Postpartum depression (she thought she couldn't be a good mom and Arven would be better off with just Turo), in order to tell her to try and contact Turo and to let Arven actually tell her what her not being there did to him and possibly salvage some sort of relationship with her (seeing as Arven is much younger when Clavell adopts him, I'd imagine he'd still want some sort of relationship with the other parent)
Resulting in Sada basically being an aunt for Arven
Ok I think you’re talking about a Pokemon Violet version of the au, while I always use the Scarlet universe because I played that. But, well, it can work for both so let’s go on with Violet for this ask.
So, let’s start with saying that Clavell doesn’t legally adopt Arven. Not right away, at least, he never really considered it. He always imagined (hoped) Turo would eventually come back and take Arven home with him. Clavell was just temporarily taking care of a lonely kid. (And I’m still thinking about the possibility of them legally becoming a family, I’m not sure, we’ll see. I already have a scenario in mind toh)
Also because, technically, Arven has another parent somewhere.
After a couple of years him and Arven lived together, Clavell tried to find Sada, yes. He tried searching for her on the internet, he tried looking for her phone number and even asked some old friend both he and Sada worked with… but nothing. He came at the conclusion she left the region. Maybe she went to Johto or Kanto.
He really wanted for Arven to at least meet her once or even to try and make some sort of relationship with his mother… But maybe it’s better that way? What if Sada wasn’t the same person he and Turo knew? What if she was too harsh to the poor boy? She already left him once, after all.
But if one day Arven will actually want to meet his mother (father in my normal version of the au, obv) then Clavell would do everything to find her. Arven deserves that. He deserves to see her, he deserves to either smile at her or tell her to go fuck herself.
For now it’s better to wait and see. Wait for Turo to come out of that freaking crater and actually be there for his son.
(Spoiler. He won’t lol :’D)
