#lud-in-the-mist#books#i was so upset i couldn't read emily wilde that i racked my brain trying to come up with an acceptable replacement#then i remembered this book has been on my tbr for a long time and gave it a try#excellent excellent choice#i couldn't believe it's as old as they say because the story felt so confident in what it was doing#none of the quaint whimsy or self-parody you tend to see from pre-tolkien fairy stories#gorgeous prose#i've got so many highlights#this is easiest to share independently#thanks to the chestertonian nature#i didn't like everything ('initiation into the mysteries' sets off my freemason alarms though thankfully it didn't go beyond a few mentions#and i'm not sure i understood everything#but i did love it all the same#also looking at goodreads i seem to be the only person who didn't read it because of ne*l ga*man#i can even say i read it in spite of him

Mourning my desire and ability to read fanfic the last 45 days but cheering for my completion of 9 books.
#I miss seeing my boys kiss in my brain#but also reading new stories and new characters again has been so refreshing#I missed books#I was in such a slump this whole year#last year I think I read 170 books and this year I'm at like 58 and I kind of hated everything I read the first 4 months of 2023#So v happy to be back on my bullshit#but now my fanfic TBR is getting SO LONG

Graduation exam tomorrow, guys if I survive this I'll be the most carefree person on earth for the next 2 years
#2 years bc that's when I'll hopefully have my master's graduation#but if I manage to do the interpretation specialisation then that one will only have an interpretation exam#nothing to study#starting from tomorrow I will binge read everything on my tbr list that I couldn't because of the constant lit classes#in fist year I made the foolish mistake of going for Russian specialisation instead of having a minor in another language/culture#which means I had like three times as many lit classes as everyone else#so I really didn't have like any time at all to read for fun#oh btw! I'm looking for YA fantasy books in Russian#by Russian authors#(for my sneaky little long term plans of doing and publishing literature translation)#so if any of y'all have anything to recommend please do!!! my asks and dms are always open#or you can just comment#so far I've picked out руки полные пепла by this author who just publishes under the name мэй#gonna order next week probably#ramblings

If any of the krisnix fans following me are already DCU fans, I would be very, very curious to pick some of your brains and mine your existing comics knowledge (as my own is very new and somewhat lacking) about a krisnix-centric, Batman-inspired AU.
#ace attorney#krisnix#kristoph gavin#phoenix wright#krisnix batman au#the kris in my head is mainly a blend of jean-paul valley and jason todd with a bit of harvey dent in there#phoenix is mainly dick grayson (altho he's flamebird rather than nightwing) specifically have to reluctantly take up the bat-mantle#cause kris while well-intentioned is not suited to it#the main plot i am imagining is a combo of knightfall and battle for the cowl#despite not yet having read bftc#(it's on my very long tbr list)#so far apollo is tim and trucy has elements of cassandra cain and zatanna as well as dick's role in the court of owls plot#maybe some stephanie too? idk i haven't read much of her either; just the little bits in knightfall and cataclysm#but this is complicated by the fact that i still need to read court of owls too and more of all 3 ladies#and plz don't come at me we with 'why krisnix? a n@rumitsu batman au would be so much better' / b/c#1. i disagree ; 2. i'm sure it's already been done and 3. not everything in this fandom has to be about them
