I'm a new Agents of Shield fan transplanted over from a couple sub-fandoms of Doctor Who, and thus my brain keeps imagining crossover, not between any actual characters,

but more for the fact that if the dwu and the mcu were in the same universe, then there is a 10 year period when shit hit the FAN for not so secret secret agencies even more than there already is

2007 - Battle of Canary Wharf, Torchwood 1 (London) goes down.

2009 - Torchwood 3 (Cardiff) goes down, but is carried on in secret by an unofficial, smaller team.

2014 - Hydra exposed and Shield goes down, but is carried on in secret by an unofficial, smaller team.

2016 - Brexit. Now i don't know what stage in the Brexit proceedings UNIT went down during, or if the timeline for Brexit is different in the dwu to our Brexit, since they're down in 2018 and theres no official deal until 2020 in our world and ugh politics but stuff started being affected straight away, and... oof went on a tangent there, whoops! Anyway! Brexit happens and UNIT's funding i think was cut. Carried on unofficially on a much smaller level probably, until the early 2020s when they're back up and running with multiple buildings that get blown up (whats up with that, Kate?)

Also its funny because the new UNIT base in the 60th anniversary specials looks just like Avengers/Stark Tower fhdhjdsl.
