Alisaie stared at Reinhardt.

"That's...not possible." She got out. "That's...no. You're joking, right? Please tell me this is a joke!"

"Our father...that's...no!" Alphinaud shook his head. "He's...he can't be a Dominant! I know-well, I know he can be, but he's not!"

"The Eikon incarnation of Thaliak is dead." Urianger's voice was raspy. "That accursed laboratory-and its creators-they killed both the Eikon and his bloodline!"

"I'm not lying." Reinhardt ground out. "We saw it. Fourchenault Primed."

"He's right." All heads swiveled to face Augustine. The paladin's hair had turned the bluish/white of his semi-Priming, and his eyes were glacial blue. Halone had come to the forefront, tilting her First Dominant's head as if she was listening to something.

"I sense him in the aether. It's faint...but it is him!" She breathed.

"What?!" Alisae shrieked. "How?! Wouldn't any of you have been able to pick up on the fact that he was a Dominant when you ran into him?!" She tried to shove Alphinaud away but the older twin hung onto his sister to ground her and himself-as he stared at their friends.

"We never picked up on it, Alisaie, You know this! Neither did any of the others!" Mathye protested.

"...But he could stand his own against us." Sebastian's words brought all activity in the room to a standstill.

"What?" Reinhardt said.

"Every single time we got in a fight with Fourchenault, he could stand his own against us. Even when we semi-Primed." Sebastian repeated. "Something about that has legitimately been irksome. I thought at first he was Light-blessed like us, but then you two..." He nodded to Alphinaud and Alisaie. "Are the same way. You're still in training, but the fact that you've got the stamina to keep up with several semi-Primes, whereas the other Scions..."

"We can't." Urianger finished. "And I remember-Master Louisaux was possessed of unparalleled magical strength and staying power. He said t'was a family trait..."

"But we're not related to the old Thaliak line." Alphinaud croaked. "Are are you saying that the Scholar's been in our family tree since...since..." He trailed off as Mathye suddenly loomed over him and Alisaie. Halone had taken control of her second Dominant, her gaze laser-focused on the pair.

"May I see something?" She asked, holding out a hand. "I cannot with Augustine, but with Mathye..."

"What are you looking for?" Alisaie demanded.

"You know that Eikons bless their Dominants with additional powers." Halone said. "If Thaliak is in your line, there would be a trace of his power in your blood. I think...with Mathye's knowledge and my power, we could possibly find it." She watched as the twins gazed at each other for several moments, something unspoken passing between them. Then Alphinaud gazed up at her.

"Do it, my lady." He said. Halone nodded, lifting Mathye's hands to rest on their heads. She closed her eyes.

Mathye? She called. Immediately, her Dominant was present, his healing knowledge flooding his brain.

I think...this is where to look. He said. Beneath his hands, the bodies of the twins were bright in their shared aetherical sight, here were the nerves, blood vessels and muscles, but it was the blood itself they sought...

"You think it was like myself and Zurvan?" Reinhardt's voice was low.

"If we look at what Halone's done with Augustine and Mathye, then it's safe to say that the Eikonic shards of the Twelve can do whatever they damn well please." Sebastian responded. A gasp diverted his attention, Halone-as-Mathye had opened her eyes, staring at the twins in shock.

"What? What is it?" Urianger demanded.

"The lineage is there." Halone whispered. Mathye was reeling in shock, they and the twins were sharing the same horrified look amongst them. "Thaliak's power is in their blood. And it is not recent."
