I know how the Merlin fandom makes jokes about George, like how Merlin doesn’t like him, and he doesn’t like Merlin, especially how they dressed him to look like Merlin but picture this:

George dressed like that because because he actually likes Merlin. He thinks Merlin is an Icon. He saw Merlin talk shit about Arthur and was like “I’m going to worship this man until I die”

I just think it would be funny in fics if he and Merlin were friends. George straight up lying to Arthur, covering for Merlin when he need to do magic things.

Arthur: “MER LIN — George have you seen my manservant anywhere”

*cue explosion in the background”

George, who help Merlin sneak out: who is Merlin, never heard of a Merlin

I just think it would be funny

Arthur: oh, well. That explains so much. *Relieved* I think I might have caught a... Similar sickness. I shall talk to Gaius about it

Leon: he needs to talk to someone about it and if he thinks everyone has it, then he won't feel so weird about it

One of my favorite things about Merlin is that if he's asked about his body count he wouldn't know which body count they're talking about and also he wouldn't be sure which one's higher.

Ok but now I headcanon that people are like, genuinely affected when Merlin touches them. Like, Merlin is magic, he has magical hands and people immediately feel drawn to him when he touches them.

Like, Imagine -

Sir Percival: Sire, you are clearly much stronger than us.

Arthur: okay?

Sir Gwaine: no, really. I had a talk with Mithian and it happened to her too. Merlin has to wear gloves, Sire, he's killing us!

Arthur: I can't force Merlin to wear gloves, what are you talking about!

Sir Leon: *very distraught* Sire, you can't be telling us that you've not noticed! He dresses you every day. Does his touch not have any effect on you?

I want an AU where merlin, like arthur, doesn't know about the prophecy.

I want an AU where he follows his heart without a sense of fear.

I want an AU where he gradually gets to know arthur without the weight of those expectations and the prophecy doesn't hang over them like the sword of damocles

I want an AU where he still finds his place alongside arthur, but doesn't lose himself by turning himself into a weapon in the hands of the "king of the past and to come"

I want an AU where trying to follow or avoid the prophecy doesn't form a chasm between them.

I want an AU where arthur doesn't think about the fact that merlin stayed by his side because he saw him as a fulfillment of prophecy, not a friend.

I want an AU where they learn of the prophecy together, years later when albion is prosperous, and have a long talk about what fate means to them.

Leon: Unfortunate really. Arthur was never able to place a label on what he felt for Merlin. Anything that boy does is instantly just categorised as "Merlin".

Gwaine: He gets his own category? Where do we go under.

Leon: "Merlin's Knights" apparently. He said as much while drunk and wistfully talked about retiring into the countryside and buy a farm where he and Merlin can own a cow and some chickens. He especially wanted the chickens.

Gwaine: *Laughs*

Percival: Damn, he's got it bad. And I can't even deny it. We basically did come together thanks to Merlin. But why chickens?

Leon: Said it was a engagement present for Merlin.

Percival: ...

Gwaine: ... Called it.

Knight: *Sees magic near Merlin* Sorcerer! *Arrests him and goes to the King*

Arthur: What is this?

Knight: Sire! I witnessed this servant doing Sorcery! *Points to Merlin*

Arthur: It's Merlin.

Knight: Yes Sire. He was doing magic.

Merlin: Arthur I can explain-

Arthur: *Raises his hand up to pause his words* You sure of this?

Knight: *Says smugly* Yes Sire!

Arthur: Right then. *Proceeds to go to his desk and picks up something before signing them with his seal*

Arthur: Hand this to Geoffrey, from henceforth the Magic Ban has been lifted.

Knight: WHAT!? 😱

Merlin: WHAT!? 🤯

Knight: B-but- my King?! WHY!?

Arthur: *Casually shrugs* It's Merlin.

The fact that Merlin is clearly uthers favourite servant is so funny to me. Because on one hand, utter dislikes Merlin as a servant, nm a person because all Merlin will ever be to uther is a peasant.

but the fact that he also see how devoted Merlin is to Arthur and honestly lets Merlin get away with a lot of shit. He flips between “ugh I hate Arthur manservant” and “you all should be as loyal as Merlin is, see Merlin, be Merlin”

Not to mention the whole magic thing. I hate uther, but unfortunately his character is really fun to laugh at.
