I think an underrated nuance in the final episode of merlin is in the line

“everything you’ve done, I know now… for me, for Camelot, for the kingdom you helped me build,”

his brow pinches, his face falls, as if with the words he’s realizing just how huge the words are to him. to me, when he says this, he looks the closest to crying, that this admittance is momentous to him. this is I think reaffirmed by the fact that merlin quips in right after ‘you’d have done it without me’ and makes him smile, as if he couldn’t stand seeing Arthur’s face pinch like that or the seriousness of the moment. but the thing about this phrase is… He saved lives, he saved the kingdom several times and Arthur acknowledges those too, but I’d argue that’s not what Arthur meant with this particular phrase.

this line - you helped me build - to me it adds a whole new nuance to his declaration. It’s separate from the ‘everything he’s done’. Arthur names ‘for me’ and ‘for Camelot’ already; this is different. Helping Arthur build his kingdom wasn’t always something he did, it was because of who he was to Arthur. Arthur is referring to merlin as his foundation. His inspiration. his compass, his confidence, his soul. the you and the me are very highlighted here- you helped me build this, you gave me the strength to do this, you changed me and completed me and enabled me to do this. Throughout the show he relies on and trusts Merlin with so many things, to the point where he acknowledges here that Merlin had a hand in shaping and forming Arthur and his kingdom, not by deed, but by the sheer presence of him in Arthur’s life. these two impacted each other so severely I don’t know if I’ll ever recover

The thing I hate most about capitalism is that I'm essentially required to be productive 24/7 even in my free time.

Oh I just got off work? Well now I need to make dinner so I can eat before bed. Oh cooking dinner is a handful and now I have dishes that I need to deal with.

Now that dishes are done and I've eaten dinner I need to start getting ready for bed because I have work in the morning. I gotta shower and make sure I have clean clothes and if I don't well then means I need to add laundry to my list for tomorrow

And after I've gotten ready for bed I need to almost immediately get to sleep because if I don't get enough sleep then I'll feel shitty at work tomorrow and not get enough done so I need to be productive sleeping.

Weekends are barely spent relaxing most of the time i feel like I'm just playing catch up with shit I've had to do earlier in the week
