The Vignette Theory

The vignettes and event stories are all part of the dream world Malleus created and here's proof!

First off when Malleus first used his - what I believe to be- unique magic "Fae of Maleficent", thorns went inward just like when a card is groovified.

They are the exact same. This is incredibly important because it reveals a direct connection between the cards and Malleus's magic. Moreover, there has been a lot of discussion about the wonky timelines of the cards which I won't be going too deep into.

My argument is that ALL of the vignettes and events were dreams or memories. They all took place inside Malleus's realm. Even the ones where Ortho, Idia, and Silver were the main characters. Although it might seem strange, there is no other way it could work. I think that when the dream started their memories or as described by the Shroud family, their "servers" got connected to Malleus, and all their memories were uploaded. Even though Malleus is not sure of all their memories and probably can't assess all that information, those memories are a part of his realm and that's the backstory to why we have a lot of the vignettes in the game.

The Conundrum With Those Who Are Awake

According to my theory, it's technically impossible for Ortho and Silver to have any dreams. Therefore they shouldn't have so many vignettes....and they don't. First, take Ortho- he has very few vignettes completely about him. Most of them could be from other people's memories like his gym uniform could be the Leech brothers, the White Rabbit Festival could be Duece's dream, and so forth. Even the vignettes where no one should be aware of everything going on with Ortho are easily explained. Ruggie knows about Ortho's actions in the Wish Upon a Star event and other characters might have their own understanding of Ortho's personality. From what we've seen so far, the dreams are fairly realistic. Even the Dawn Knight in Lilia's dream seems to have his own past. Especially when he refers to the origin of his 'ring'.

Silver also tends not to be a main character for most of the vignettes. In the Halloween Soiree, Jamil and Silver get to know each other as they travel around the afterworld/ghost realm. This is one of the few times where Silver acts open and reveals a lot about himself. How does Jamil or whoever is dreaming up that vignette have this information. Well- as previously explained, all the characters' memories are now part of Maleeus's dream realm. The short time Silver was not awake and the information Sebek and Lilia -importantly Malleus- had about Silver allowed Jamil to learn about it in his dream.

It's also possible that Silver was already open about his stories and life so everyone can predict what he might say.

Ngl, when I first imagined Idia's parents I imagined them as abusive and neglectful, but they were a shock to meet. In the main story, they are the first parents of a character we get to see. I was incredibly surprised by her voice and personality but after it dawned on me that she was Persephone, I was beyond taken away! I've always disliked the characterization of Hades in the animated Hercules series. It felt like he was just a cartoon satan (Persephone’s exclusion from the cartoon was also disappointing) but to see Disney include her here-even a twisted version- is exciting. I'm glad that they didn't end up being terrible people, if they were then the Idia angst would have flooded us all up.

     As Royal turns to leave the bar, a silvery glimmer catches his attention from across the room. It doesn’t take long to pick out the source — a woman in a white dress and a pair of wings, with enough glitter to technically count as hi-vis. She’s beautiful. And strangely familiar.

     Before he can even process that thought, her eyes meet his and she bolts. There’s a moment where he hesitates, unsure if he should go after her, but he can’t help the curiosity that drives him to down his drink and take off after her.

“Fins! Hey, big guy!” Hale grins, staring up at him. She didn’t think that a public Halloween party would be his thing, but she’s glad that he’s putting himself out there more. “I didn’t expect to see you here! Are you having a good time?”

With Hale’s help, Tiffany did a more dramatic makeup look than usual - sharply winged eyeliner and dark red lips, with her hair in a messy ponytail (it’s too much effort to do it properly; Tiff’s hair never wants to lie sleekly). It’s a pretty simple costume, velvety red dress and patent red shoes that she thrifted, with sequinned horns and tail that she got from Spirit Halloween. It would’ve been too boring for Hale, with her built-in horns and tail, dress as the devil! The pendant necklace doesn’t strictly fit with the costume, but Tiffany’s not taken it off since Hale gave it to her. Except to shower, obviously, because she’s not going to risk damaging it. Not pictured is a little red purse, for her keys and lipstick and gum and also, of course, a present for Halloween Birthday Girl <3 Catch her at the SATANIC SOIREE !

As always Riley and Levi had gotten dressed up for the Halloween festivities, never one’s that missed this holiday ever since they were kids who had started to go trick or treating together. However as the years passed, Halloween started to involve a lot more alcohol and ruined costumes by the end of the night.

Right now Riley was glaring at Levi’s face as they were both sat in the more secluded VIP section of Club Nyx, the blonde already a bit buzzed from the drinks “I hate it when you wear makeup because that means I can’t kiss you”

A Fairy Queen’s soiree is no place for a young child. Although, the same could probably be said of Spirale in general. Regardless, Isaac’s ended up here by his own curiosity after seeing that fantastic light show that brought the event here... And by his own inability to say no, he’s ended up with one of those (faulty) masks. If you asked this young man, all he’s ever wanted was to be good and to serve God... With this mask, all Isaac can see in himself is the worst. Literally.

isaac has been transformed into satan, albeit not really any bigger than he usually is! that doesn’t matter to him, though, he’s absolutely mortified by this ideal and has absolutely no idea what’s going on! coal black skin, the hooves and wings of the beast he’s most afraid of? awesome!

#16. You’re in charge of directing a Ghost movie. What’s the plot?

Ok. So if the pre-Pale White Tour vignettes are anything to go by, stories involving members of the Clergy serves to further the narrative of the church trying to spread the word of Satan while also hyping both the album and the forthcoming tour, SO a full-length movie in the Tobias Cinematic Universe would be a pretty big deal. 

Without listing all of our collective conspiracy theories about Copia being the anti-christ, let’s say that it’s true and go from there.

Seestor Imperator has managed to keep Copia’s parentage a secret (even from Copia himself), but since becoming Papa, he’s begun developing strange new abilities and he doesn’t know why or where they came from, and with all of his predecessors, and their father, and their father’s father, and their father’s father’s father.. dead and buried, he has no one to turn to for advice. 

Assuming that his dark new power is a normal part of the anti-papacy, the rat man gets back to business as usual, but being Papa is not what he expected it to be. Why is there so much paperwork? Was there always this much paperwork? When’s the next tour (this is pre-covid of course)? Does he get to write the new album with the ghouls? Why isn’t he allowed to give interviews? The backstage interview went pretty well, in his opinion. 

All work and no play makes Popia a sad rat, so he employs the help of the most creative siblings to plan a “Copia is Papa Now”/ “Papa Nihil is Dead :(” soiree with a tasteful, judicious plague theme. The abbey is positively buzzing with (respectful) excitement about the coming festivities, but as the weeks go by, Popia struggles to keep his demonic omnipotence under control. 

He begins having visions of an apocalyptic event, and a familiar figure stands at the center of it all. Desperate, and terrified of what he’s seen, he breaks a cardinal rule of the Satantic Church: let the dead lie.

I’ll be updating for my two closed Halloween events today. They are being hosted on two other blogs. Connor’s college verse haunted attraction and Corvus’ satanic soiree. The ruthless king is dabbling in them of course but he’s been rather glad that foul witch Wysteria the Warg has not made an appearance.
