fionna and cake drawings before and after watching the episodes so far. it’s nostalgic and somehow cathartic and poignant and relatable and—it just started

#i’m part of the demographic where i was a kid when adventure time started and now watching fionna and cake as an adult makes me emotional #because did they keep us in mind when writing fionna and her attitude towards life #the dissatisfaction #the hoping for something more #something more magical than this dreary life filled with working to live and living to work #it’s so reflective of how life feels for me and perhaps many of us #and also Simon’s episode was so sad but so well thought out #exploring his feelings after the events of the adventure time finale is something I’m glad we get to see #there were already so many layers to his character in AT but now it feels like we get to dive deeper #I also felt emotional hearing Rebecca Sugar singing and writing a song that encapsulates his feelings so well #😭 it’s been awhile seeing her work exist alongside these characters #and all of these emotions get stronger because I remember AT being the one to inspire me to be a storyboard artist #when I was younger I used to follow many of the board artists here in tumblr and would get so inspired by them #to create simple but powerful boards that can capture the feelings of characters so well #Rebecca Sugar’s songs for the AT characters inspired me so much too #I’m sorry this is long I’m just feeling so many things experiencing all of this again as an adult #my art #fanart #adventure time #fionna and cake #fionna the human #cake the cat #simon petrikov

there’s such an attitude among ex-christian atheists that religions just spring up out of the void with no cultural context behind them. like ive heard people say shit like “those (((zionists))) think they own a piece of land bc their book of fairy tales told them so!!!” and they refuse to understand that no, we don’t belong there because of the torah, it’s in the torah because we belong there. because we’re from there. the torah (from a reform perspective) was written by ancient jews in and about the land that they were actively living on at the time. the torah contains instructions for agriculture because the people who lived in the land needed a way to teach their children how to care for it. it contains laws of jurisprudence because those are pretty important to have when you’re trying to run a society. same for the parts that talk about city planning. it contains our national origin story for the same reason that american schools teach kids about the boston tea party. it’s an extremely complex and fascinating text that is the furthest thing from just a “book of fairy tales”

some "new" designs for different crassus and pompey, specifically for a side project I've been playing with that's so removed from anything relevant (action/adventure/horror standalone story lmao) that they kind of needed their own thing. this story's pompey has a neck scar from an Incident™, crassus has shorter hair and wears (checks notes) jewelry sometimes.

#graves grime and gore tag #the default designs are still the ''''trikaranos''''' ones because it's nebulously like. eh. grounded enough in rome #this is the dmbj au but it's less dmbj and more like i put on every tomb robber movie on youku and went 'yeah okay'#while i was working. anyway. when i post from that story. i will make it clear that it is a separate contained story doing it's own thing #this version of crassus also more or less has black hair while my main crassus has brown hair #pompey is bottle blond no matter what universe he's in #god what else what else. it's set during their first joint consulship. crassus is more of an outright dick but it's because he's annoyed #that pompey is not getting with the program (you cannot become sulla during peace time!)#and this version of pompey is like a specific imposter syndrome anxiety has been cranked up to eleven and it's made him #overly competitive in stupid ways like the thing you think crassus is doing does not matter to him in the slightest #we gotta establish characterizations right off the bat and we're swinging big because i am NOT setting up anything prior to Events #like (snaps fingers) go explore the ruins consuls! get in the TOMB FELLAS. September Magma event "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon" results!!

This time on Magma we set off on adventures in a mysterious alternate world where only the Pokémon live! We explored wondrous locations, teamed up while hunting for treasure, helped Pokémon in need and had a lovely time hanging out together! For this event we included beloved characters from the official Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games as well as official human characters transformed into Pokémon, I wonder if you recognised them all? And also Pokémon OCs/sonas so that everyone could get in on the fun! This event was organised by @skyreptain who is a massive PMD fan! They put in their best effort make the whole event feel faithful to the game series as possible, it's really amazing!! They also prepared & edited the announcement videos featuring adorable riolu named Steffan (created, drawn & written by @aur0raaura)!

I don’t know how to explain any more clearly that it doesn’t MATTER if it seems legitimate to you. You have got to fact check every single headline and post and claim on the left just like you need to do on the right.

The left is NOT immune to misinformation and rushed reporting. And the more emotionally polarizing or shocking the talking points, sound bytes, and headlines are, the worse it is and more frequently it happens.

Learn to verify through multiple independent sources. If you can’t do that, you can’t trust it.

If you have to wait extra hours for the real information to come through vetted channels—NOT just one individual somewhere everyone links to, and not just one single media source either, EVEN if it’s a major news network—thats just how it has to be. What news outside of genuine local disasters near you TRULY needs your outrage and post-sharing in the next hour specifically?

Misinformation works best by not seeming like misinformation and by fitting in with the rest of what you already expect to see. It doesn’t help anyone to not be able to recognize and avoid the stuff.
