I honestly wish I had an image to convey my horror and disbelief when I saw Felix for the first time. I knew right then and there Adrien was never EVER going to get an arc.

They really wanted Adrien to be a damsel in distress - a princess who needed to be saved by his knight. There really is no combination of words I can find to express how confused I was to see this writing choice be veiled as progressive for the first time.

Because here is the thing: In these stories, princesses still have more agency than Adrien. They will make choices that will guarantee a victory over the villain. Adrien's actions in ML do not matter and this was intentional.

If this wasn't intentional, then Felix would have never been introduced in the show. With his introduction, Felix usurps Adrien's agency from his own narrative. Like, it is so incredibly weird to see Felix have this level of influence in the story, because it's not like Adrien and Felix are the same character. From the audiences perspective, we know Felix is an older design of Adrien - BUT IN THE ACTUAL STORY Felix and Adrien are not treated as one in the same.

Felix zapping Adrien of his agency wasn't used as set-up to an eventual reveal of Adrien and Felix being two halves of the same whole. Felix is in this story JUST to make sure Marinettes and Adriens relationship doesn't become "toxic". Adrien can't be "mean" to Marinette - A.K.A he can't actually have any meaningful conflict with her. Which would naturally come about when you bring up the themes of agency with sentimonsters.

So, to keep any "toxicity" away from our main leads, Felix is given the agency Adrien should have had from day one.

I really don't have the words to describe how I feel when I see FELIX [who looks identical to Adrien] telling Marinette the sentikids backstory when this show could have just been written in a way where Adrien figures this out on his own and tells Marinette before they fight Gabriel. Adding Felix - who is literally an older design of Adrien - to this story just because they see ADRIEN exerting power over his own story as a detriment to his romantic development with Marinette is so odd to me.

Hella people have been talking about this — and not in this site — but also Dot??? wasn’t hosting a kangaroo court exclusively on Dre’s baggage???? It was a cultural concert with CRIPS and BLOODS (including mf HOOVERS which iydk HUGE) on stage who haven’t come together like that in years. They were making peace in the name of defending our history from bitchass people like those not from the hood (AUBREY) or educated in the history of hip hop outside of romanticizing it and clout chasing (AUBREY). It was a reminder to not fuck with our city bc at the end of the day we got each other’s backs. LA showed up for itself bc too many people have been speaking like they know us, disrespecting the history we got, and it’s very clear they don’t know shit. i think it’s funny that death is, technically speaking, the only other person “present” with lucheni as he tells the story.  everyone else is just a shadow, an illustration that lucheni is painting.  but death is there, too.  he shows up in the prologue.  but he’s silent, he doesn’t offer commentary (aside from his solo in the opening number) and just plays his role.  and i think that’s very funny of him.

luigi’s undoubtedly an unreliable narrator but death does NOT speak up to confirm or deny ANYTHING lucheni’s saying.  either death’s had to do this song and dance a few time before an is INCREDIBLY bored with it and doesn’t feel like putting in more effort than he has to, or he’s bored and playing along for the lolz and just nodding his head in agreement.  lucheni could say ‘and then elisabeth fought attila the hun’ and death would just be like ‘yep. that happened.  what do you mean he died 1400 years prior.  he was there i saw him.’

i'm on excursion with my fellow students of the year for a week and somehow, have managed to fall sick during most of it.

which fucking sucks, our program is interesting as fuck, but hey, the whole last week i haven't been feeling well, so not that suprising cause instead of being sensible, i thought i could power through it.

so i've been lying in bed or wandering about the apartment for most of it. normally i'm good with having nothing to do cause i just draw, except that i decided not to take my drawing stuff with me cause i thought i wouldn't have any time anyway. it's literally the first time i ever did that and i shall never do so again.

but!

at the same time the fucking plague has once more broken out with our group and all over the week we're losing one after another dude to stick them in the second flat so they can be vaguely quarantined.

only, that as the residential already sick person, they tend to stay with me before they turn out positive.

i've somehow managed to share a room with now two different rona people and spent over 2 hours sitting on the bed with another one, cause we watched the f1 quatar race together (which was insane and then a shitshow but whatever) and i'm still fucking negative.

i know i'll prob just turn out positive next week, which sucks cause that's the actual introduction week for our university, but occasionally i just look at the ceiling and believe myself to have the immunsystem of a fucking god cause this is ridiculous.

knight!Denki being the smallest and most good natured of his lance fournie (or maybe this is an AU where he's not ganged up with the squad yet?) ... works his flat butt off trying to keep up not realizing he's already one of the strongest. Over-volunteering for more work, to care for the horse... be the team's distraction... but keeping a smile on his face nonetheless.

i'd feel like he'd have all these dreams of marrying you... like he's known by other lances as a playboy, doesn't like... shy away from getting around, but deep down he's very in love with the princess. always shows up to your court (with messy hair, too much weight on his back, looking a lil flabbergasted and silly)... but always with a cute, shy smile and gift for you.

(even if he's a little insecure cuz there's much bigger and tougher knights who aren't the entertainers of the group, who your family seem to favor much more than him.)

but it's hard not to want to talk to him even if you know other royals are watching. trying to hide your giggle when he bows to kiss your hand, or shows you whatever silly thing he picked up in battle; often times a pretty (squished) flower that made him think of you.
