The first try failed miserably.
When he returned to himself, Lupin was by his side, helping him up. "It's alright. I didn't expect you to do it the first time. That would have been remarkable." He pulled a chocolate bar from his pocket. "Here, eat this. You'll feel better."
Harry could still feel the cold, the icy grip on his heart, the numbness. "That was one nasty Dementor."
"Oh, no. That was a Boggart, Harry. The real thing would have been a lot worse."
Lupin started to relight the candles with his fingers while Harry scrambled back to his feet.
"As a matter of interest, what were you thinking?" "The first time I rode a broom."
Lupin turned toward him. "That's not good enough, not nearly." Harry tried not to be disappointed. Deep inside, he knew there was only one right memory. One time he had felt truly comfortable in his own skin. But it was wrong and strange... and yet...
"There's another... It's the happiest I've ever felt. But it's complicated", he explained, not daring to look at the teacher.
"Is it strong?"
Harry nodded, heart pounding.
"Then let's give it a try. Do you feel ready?" He drew his wand, pointing it at the chest.
"Just do it." This time when Lupin opened the chest, he felt more confident. He remembered what it had been like.
The sudden change of his body. Long black hair, softer curves, wider hips, a different voice... He remembered finally seeing herself in the mirror. The pure euphoria. She remembered people laughing, but it didn't matter because, for the first time in her life, she had felt beautiful.
The stag burst out of the tip of the wand, cornering the Dementor until it was back in its prison. Lupin looked up in wonder.
"Fucking hell! Sorry. You didn't hear that. That was amazing. Truly wonderful, here..." He pulled his chocolate out again, while Harry wiped away a few tears. Why was she- he- she crying? A look of concern crossed the teacher's face. "Let's take a break, shall we."
Without a word, Harry sat on the stairs, staring at the wall.
"Do you want to talk about this memory?" The kid hesitated. She trusted Lupin. Something about his calm, warm way made him seem like he could make the entire world be okay.
"It was a prank Malfoy pulled on me last year... He... turned me into a girl. It's stupid. I don't even know why it affected me that much, but it just felt right. I know it's not. I'm a boy, I always have been, but I... I felt so comfortable for the next few hours."
"Har-" Lupin interrupted himself. "Listen, I'm not pretending to be all-knowing. Only you can know who you are and how you feel, but I would like to tell you about two friends of mine who might have had similar experiences."
The thirteen-year-old looked up. It was obviously not easy for the teacher to talk about this, but he continued anyway. "They were siblings. One was born as a boy, the other as a girl. But it turned out that neither of those terms really fit them. The 'girl' felt more comfortable with short hair and the other sibling's clothes, because they didn't show off as much of the body. Soon this child decided to tell their friends to refer to him with 'he', rather than 'she'. Not long after he changed his name. And the people who truly cared about him accepted it. He was a lot happier that way and felt more like himself. He changed his appearance permanently."
"So he lived as a boy? And people were just fine with that?" "Well, not everyone obviously. But there will always be people who don't agree with who you are or how you present yourself. He just made sure people disliked who he really was." Lupin gave her a small smile.
"What about your other friend?" His gaze grew distant. "He never cared what people thought of him. One of the bravest people I ever knew." Probably without even knowing it his thumb traced one of the scars on his hand. "He would change his appearance and how people referred to her based on her mood. Some days she felt more like a woman, others like a man, others like none. Not caring what anyone had to say about it. Just because he knew he only had limited time on this earth and she wasn't going to waste any of it." He took a deep breath and looked over to her again.
"Do you see yourself in either of them?" "I... I don't know. Can you maybe try it out? Talking about me with she?" the professor nodded. "Of course", he turned toward an imaginary audience. "This is my student. She managed to summon a patronus today, and as her teacher, I am very proud of her. She likes to play Quidditch, but sadly her broom broke a few weeks ago. I hope she finds a new one that will equally serve its purpose." Lupin looked at her again, who couldn't help but smile.
"So you like it?" "Yes. It... I can't even describe it. Just... yes." She grinned widely, but then hesitated. "What about a name?" "Do you want a new one? You don't have to change anything you don't want to change." "I would like a new name, but... Well, my parents gave it to me and- "Your parents were two of the most supportive and accepting people in the world. They would have loved you, regardless of your gender or name; regardless of anything. You don't need to worry about them."
Slowly she nodded. "Can I just pick any name?" "Anyone you like. It doesn't need to be right away either, you can take as much time as you need. You can choose it when you're 70 or 110." "Do you know, if my parents had any ideas if I was.. born a girl?" Lupin thought for a while.
"In general, the Potters have a tradition of naming their kids after themselves. You have your father's first name as your second name, he had his father's name as a second name. So you could use Lily as a second name if you want to keep that going. Other than that your mom was very keen on naming you after one of their friends, but James thought that would get confusing very quickly. Now I don't believe that will be a problem anymore. You almost would have been named... after your godfather. As for female friends; There were Marlene and Mary, who were your mother's best friends. We used to call them the Valkyries. Marlene had a very close friend called Dorcas, also a brilliant woman. And then there was Pandora, who... was also very close to your mother. And of course, your grandmother, Euphemia."
"Pandora Lily Potter... Pandora Potter." She let the name roll off her tongue a few times. "I think I like that one..." Professor Lupin smiled. "Do you think I can tell my friends?" "I don't know. You need to manage that yourself. However, if you are looking for support, I know that Professor McGonagall, Madame Pomfrey and Professor Sprout will not let anyone treat you badly because of that. And neither will I."
Pandora nodded and rose from the stairs. "Can we maybe continue practice another time? I have a lot to think about." "Of course. Take as much time as you need. You have done amazing today. Much better than I ever anticipated. I'll see you in classes then, Pandora..."

Remus should have fought harder for Sirius and Harry!
No, but... how do you know he didn't? Canon is absoluely silent on it. What we know is that Remus didn't see Harry again until he taught at Hogwarts. Canon tells us nothing about what he was doing during this time.
We also know that Dumbledore had Hagrid pick Harry up from Godric's Hollow on October 31 and fly him straight to the Dursley's house. Hagrid tells us that he went straight there on the bike he borrowed from Sirius Black. Harry was placed with his aunt and uncle, by Dumbledore's order, and kept so completely unaware of magic that he didn't have a clue that magic--magic that he could do, by the way--was real until a giant burly man knocked on a shack in the middle of the lake on his birthday.
Harry was hidden by the most powerful, well respected wizard of the time. Sirius was blamed and put in Azkaban without a trial. This is already a terrible starting pace to *finding* and *rescuing* them, even if Remus had the capability to do so.
Remus is not Harry's godfather, he's got no means to care for Harry, and he's got once a month that he knows without a doubt that Harry is in more danger with him than without. Perhaps he knew that Harry was with his aunt and uncle, but no one suspected that the Durselys would abuse Harry as they did. Even if they hated magic, no one expected them to turn him into the boy in the cupboard under the stairs. That's perposterous. It's unthinkable.
Remus has no power. He's a kid with a wand and very little else. He doesn't have a name, he doesn't have money, he doesn't even have a clean bill of health. If he's going to try to get Sirius out and Harry back, he's going to go to the most powerful wizard he knows. Which, after the War, is Dumbledore.
Dumbledore received numerous awards for whatever it was he did during and at the end of the war. He received honors. He was the only one that Voldemort ever feared. he was given designations and authority, and no one really questioned him.
So Remus goes to him and pleads for his help. Let Sirius out, he demands. You know Sirius would never do this to James. He would never do this to Peter. They were his friends. Dumbledore says I didn't think he would either, and yet their dead. Remus says give him a trial, because there must be an explanation. Dumbledore tells him that Sirius laughed hysterically on the way to Azkaban. Sirius confessed, he says. "It's my fault their dead," Sirius says, because he believed it to be true, and they accepted his confession.
Remus begs, but Dumbledore tells him it's settled. Who is Remus to fight Dumbledore? Perhaps he tires, perhaps it's hopless. Or, perhaps, he asks to have contact with Harry. Even if he can't care for him, because no one would trust the boy who lived with a werewolf, let him at least have contact with Harry. Harry deserves to know his parents. Dumbledore tells him no. It will be too confusing for the boy. It will be dangerous if you bring death eaters with you. It's better for him if he grows up believing he is a member of that family. it is better for him if he doesn't have contact with you.
Remus has los everything, and the only person that he thought might help him has turned him away.
Remus has nothing left. He has no one left. No one will listen to him if Dumbledore is against him, and everyone is celebrating while Remus can only think of what he's lost.
What did he do for the next fourteen years? Personally, I think he left the country. Traveld the world as a magical creature exterminator for hire. He had nothing left in England. Why would he stay? Perhaps he didn't even keep track of the years--what do they matter anyway--until he gets a letter from Dumbledore asking him to come back.
He has nothing else. Why not return? Perhaps it's safe for Harry to know who he is, now. He just has to get on the train the morning after the full moon, but it's fine. he can sleep all the way there.
#remus lupin#thoughts from snitch#I'm not saying that Remus had it worse than Sirius#I'm just saying you can't discount that he tried#remus lupin deserved better#this is probably absolute madness#it's 1:30 am and I'm procrastinating writing#and I'm publishing without rereading it#I'll probably regret that tomorrow

Remus hated Sirius. He hated his stupid untamed hair. He hated his stupid crooked teeth. He hated his scandalous laughter. His colorless eyes. His uneven face. His grotesque nose. His horrible self. Remus hated Sirius Black. How he played with girls. How he thought he was better than everyone else. How he went around making fun of people. How he thought he was better than love. How rich, important and popular he was.
"Yeh don' believe that for a second, darling"
Great. Remus knew this Grant was imaginary because 1) He couldn't be here at Hogwarts in the middle of Sirius’s birthday party, 2) Remus had tried calling him and he didn't pick up, 3) He had read his thoughts, and 4) Remus was pretty drunk. And Remus knew the Grant from his head was even more sassy than the real one.
"Get out of my head, will you?"
Imaginary Grant laughed. "Yeh are callin' meh with yer imagination, darling. This is yer head"
"Fuck off" Remus took a drag from the bottle he was holding.
"I'll tell ya why yeh think about meh" Grant added "Yeh miss me, don't ya?"
"Shut up!"
Remus drank even more.
Grant shrugged with a smile. Remus's eyes filled with tears. Because it wasn't fair. This Grant was not real. Remus needed the real one. Not the fake one. He felt so lonely now..
"Why don't you pick up my calls? Don't you think I might need you?"
Remus sounded angrier than he intended.
"I might be busy, who knows? I'm only a product of yer imagination"
"Have you forgotten about me already?" Remus cried. He was hiding from his friends. From him. From everyone. He didn't know how he looked like for people that were passing by. If he was actually speaking alone or this was happening on his mind. He didn't care.
Imaginary Grant faced him."How can I forget about yeh, darling! I must be bunkers to even try"
It sounded like something Grant would say. The real one.
"Yeh're all I have in my head" he added "Yeh an' our beautiful summer together"
Remus smiled through tears. Because he remembered as well. Well, if this was his mind, Imaginary Grant made him remember. Grant's little room. The parties. The adrenaline. The fun they had together. The feeling of being young and very alive. The rap and hip hop music. How Grant sang it at the top of his lungs. The stolen kisses. The passionate kisses. The snogging sessions. The gentle touches. Sleeping on the same bed. The promises of running away together.
That warm smile. The same Imaginary Grant was giving him now. With crooked teeth and all. How Remus wished he was real. He might have wanted to kiss him.
"I miss you" Remus cried again "You said it would be easy. That I had to come back here. That I had to face him"
"And so yeh did" Grant raised his eyebrows "Yeh did more than face him"
Thinking about his moments with Sirius made Remus feel pain. And he didn't want to feel that.
"I don't want to talk about him"
Grant smiled "All yeh want to do was talk about him. That's why yeh brought meh here, yeah? Yeh want someone to talk to"
Remus shook his head.
"Yeh lov'im!"
Remus was furious now. Because he remembered this wasn't Grant saying this. It was his own mind. And he hated to admit it.
"Sirius..." No, better not say his name "He hurt me... He was using me all along. I'm so stupid! I was just a game for him. Just like the rest of the girls he's been with"
"Posh closeted blokes..." Grant tutted. Remus chuckled because that was exactly how Grant would say it.
"Are you going to say: 'I told you so'?"
Grant shook his head "It's not done. Not over, luv"
Remus sighed "I just saw him kissing another girl, then he told me I was a mistake... I don't have to explain anything to you. You know it. You are in my head"
"Do yeh think everythin' yeh lived with him was a lie?" Grant asked "All the kisses. All the moments. All the words. All the looks. The way he looks at yeh. He smiles at ya"
Remus closed his eyes, trying to shake those memories away. This was his own mind telling him stupid shit anyway.
"You are not real"
"What's real is yer luv for him".
"Go away if you are going to be on his side"
Remus was alone now. Grant didn't reply. So Remus thought he was gone. But when he opened his eyes, Imaginary Grant was there. Smirking at him. God, Remus's mind was powerful when he was drunk.
"Bloody hell! How much yeh miss meh!" Grant giggled. That laughter that was like a little kid.
"Of course I miss you" Remus confirmed, looking at Grant. He looked so real. But at the same time translucent under the light. "Why couldn't I fall in love with you instead, eh Grant? You are perfect. And you would never hurt me. Not like him"
Remus reckoned he would never dare to say anything like this to the real Grant. But hell, he was drunk. And this was all inside his head. So it didn't matter. Remus wanted to feel good. Like Grant made him feel. Not miserable like Sirius made him feel.
"You're perfect, Grant. Why isn't it you?"
Grant gave him a sweet smile understandingly.
"Because darling... The reason does not pick up who we luv, it's the heart who does. And the heart is a bit of an tosser if yeh ask meh"
Remus giggled. His eyes filled with tears again.
"You are right..." Remus said, leaning his head back on the wall "I love him. And I don't think I can ever stop...." Remus could feel his cheeks wet from his lament "He has my heart. He has my soul. Even if he hurts me. I will love him like a fool" Remus let out a sob and closed his eyes.
It was the truth. Remus loved Sirius. He loved his beautiful gorgeous hair. He loved his perfect white teeth. He loved his overwhelming laughter. His gray eyes full of color like a deep ocean. His symmetrical face. His runny adorable nose. His beautiful self.
Remus loved Sirius Black. How he had eyes only for Remus. How he cared about others and thought he was like everyone else. How he went around helping people. How he had the strong capacity to love. How it didn't matter how rich and important or popular he was, Sirius was more than what they believed.
"That's what I wanted yeh to admit, darling" Remus heard Grant's soft giggle.
When Remus opened his eyes, Imaginary Grant was gone. Only the ghost of his smile was left.
"No..." Remus begged "Come back! I need you... Come back! I love you! I love you!"
When Imaginary Grant didn't respond like the real one, Remus broke down crying again, covering his eyes in the process. He was a mess. He was pathetic.
"Remus... Remus..." a voice called him.
"Grant?" Remus asked uncovering his face. But it was not Grant.
"Just Emmeline, mate" the girl was smiling at him with pity.
"Are you okay?"
Remus thought how she was amazing as well. If he could only be into girls, they could have had a wonderful thing as well. But he was gay. And Remus was only into Sirius. Sirius, the twat.
"Who is Grant?" Emmeline added with a worried voice.
"No one" Remus answered wiping his tears away "I'm okay. Just a bit drunk"
Emmeline smiled "Is it because of the birthday boy? Let me guess. You told him how you felt and he doesn't feel the same"
Emmeline had been supportive. Even if Remus broke her heart. Because of Sirius again. But Remus never told her that Sirius and him had been snogging. Remus had been keeping the secret. For the rest of the world, Sirius was the perfect straight boy.
"Something like that" Remus answered.
Emmeline kissed his cheek "I'm sorry"
Remus shrugged. He didn't want her to feel pity for him.
"Being rejected by the person you fancy sucks" Emmeline said now with a smile. It was ironic that Remus had hurt her the same way Sirius did. But no. Remus didn't make her believe something might happen between them. Sirius had been simply cruel.
"But don't worry. You'll get over it. Trust me"
Remus smiled trying to look apologetic.
"You know what would help?" Emmeline asked. "Dancing. Come on, lover boy dance with me"
"No... No... No..." Remus protested "I don't feel like it"
"Do you honestly want him to see you like this?" Emmeline asked "He needs to see you are okay. You need to show him he has no power over you" Remus blinked at her. "Even if it is a lie" Emmeline added, grabbing Remus's arm "Come on, wanker. Let's show him what he is missing"
Emmeline's smile was contagious this time, so Remus smiled back. Why not dance with her? He could not be moping for Sirius forever, right?
It could be alright. Remus thought as he walked with Emmeline to the dance floor. Remus had managed to get the attention of Grant and Emmeline. He could find another bloke that would make him forget about Sirius for once and for all. He had to forget about Sirius Black.
What he didn't know was that the Sirius Black in question was observing him dancing with Emmeline and feeling miserable. Because everything that he had said had been a lie. Because Sirius loved him back. So dearly and so much it was scary. But he was a coward. He was scared to admit it just yet. Sirius needed his time. Would Remus wait for him to be ready? Or did he deserve someone better? Maybe Remus deserve someone better. Even if it broke Sirius’s heart.

PLS I REALLY NEED sirius x hestia being a cute couple in hogwarts. him calling her doll🥺🩷
hi honey, thank you so much, i really missed write about them <3
----
''Ew, Prongs won't stop kissing Red,'' Sirius said, helping himself to more pumpkin juice and some bagels and butter, feeling hungrier than usual but trying to keep his composure so no one would notice that something was wrong.
''Stop being jealous,'' Marlene snapped, eating a piece of cake. "It's their anniversary, you know how they are with dates and all that nonsense." She shrugged, rolling her eyes when Sirius stifled a chuckle.
James, who had been too busy with Lily's mouth before to tell him to fuck off, held up his middle finger and smiled at his best friend, lips slightly reddened. Lily, for her part, just ignored Sirius' existence and helped herself to tea and pumpkin rolls with white cheese and tomatoes, as if nothing had happened in the last five minutes.
''So you're not going with me to see Khalid goes through trying to ask Julian out, are you?'' He'd been waiting all week for this, heard rumors that Khalid had even bought new robes to talk to the girl— who was known for always saying no in the most humiliating ways you could even imagine. Sirius had convinced Remus to go with him, Peter would be in class when that horror show took place, but James was free, he knew that because they had the same schedule.
''No, I have more important things to do.'' His friend shrugged, and by that, Sirius understood that they were forbidden to go up to the dorm during that time. Great, now on top of that, he couldn't even go back to his own room.
Granted, they knew great noise suppression and privacy spells, but it still felt strange to think of James and Lily doing who knows what next to him while he was just reading a magazine about muggle motorbikes.
''Sirius, don't you have anything better to do than snoop around in people's lives?'' Marlene questioned him, and Sirius thought he could tell that he indeed had more important things, but for that, he needed a second someone who would be in a very boring herbology class that he didn't take, and that she didn't want to miss. What was he going to do?
‘’Where were you last night, by the way? I looked everywhere for you but you disappeared,'' Remus, who was quite willing to eat as much as he could – he always got hungry when the full moon was approaching – asked him curiously, sticking a piece of croissant in his mouth in an unpolite manner, which only a wolf's instincts would make him do.
''Walking,'' Sirius shrugged. ''I went to send my letters and also talk to McGonagall about the last assignment I turned in,'' He did indeed, but not only that, but the next two hours after these two tasks he was willing to keep to himself and only share with friends after his companion has agreed to speak. He didn't think Hestia hadn't already blurted out to Lily or Marlene where she went every night, but he wasn't going to speak before her.
Not that he minded, frankly, he'd wear a collar with her name on it like an obedient dog, but Sirius was respecting her time.
''Hm, I see,'' Lily looked at him suspiciously, for the first time that morning. ''Oh, good morning Hes.''
Sirius tried to keep his head from spinning like an animal looking for his toy, and he did well in the mission, just smiling at her like an old friend, and not someone who every night hugged the pillow thinking it was her warm body.
''Good morning,'' She smiled and waved at them, taking the vacant seat next to Sirius. Her scent did things to him that even if Sirius spent hours trying to describe it he couldn't succeed, it was as if the scent overtook his lungs and was food for the butterflies in his stomach that were already awake and making a fuss behind his ribs.
Breakfast went on as it always did, side conversations and Sirius making sure Lily blushed as many times as possible at his sly jokes, as well as letting her curse back at him so he would pretend he was mad at her, just for them to stay in that cold war that was the usual.
As everyone was getting up to go to their classes, Sirius rested his hand on Hestia's thigh under the table, he and James had another fifteen minutes before class, and he knew that Hestia had the first free period, which was the same as from Remus and Peter. The two went to the library to look for a book that he didn't understand what it was, and James took Lily somewhere with the promise to revise the routes they would take later.
"Want to lie down for a while before my class, doll?" He whispered, almost speaking out of legilimency, not wanting anyone to disturb them.
''Sure,'' She smiled, in that extremely cute and adorable way that made Sirius want to run screaming through the halls like the madman he was and already felt. He didn't usually go back to the dorm after he got out of bed, but now he had created this routine with Hestia because it was, oddly enough, the most secluded place he could find during class time.
James made it very clear when he wanted to go back to their dorm, so Sirius knew the times, and Peter and Remus hardly ever came back before the class break the four of them had after three o'clock, so in the morning he was free to stay with Hestia for a while there.
''You're pretty, doll.'' He kissed her cheek as soon as they were walking up the stairs to the dorm, no one else around.
‘’I know,’’ She shrugged, but he noticed the cute way she smiled and blushed briefly. When they got to his bedroom, blissfully empty and messy as they left it, Sirius watched as she kicked off her shoes and lay down on his bed, in the routine way as if they were just like Lily and James, and it took a lot of self-control not to daydream about them actually being like their friends, kissing and publicly being a couple with no shame in the comments or stares.
Sirius lay beside her, his arm under her head, feeling her curly hair caressing his skin, the two of them turned to face each other, her small body fitting perfectly against his, her legs on top of his, and their noses almost touching.
It wasn't long before she reached over and kissed him, her soft mouth doing things to Sirius that made him feel back to being thirteen and getting hard just at the thought of a woman next to him. It was like being in heaven, nothing got in their way and while she was there, lying next to him, the world was perfect in a way that even he couldn't explain.
It was the best fifteen minutes of his life, for sure.

Until the End
A/n: here's what I wrote for the prologue. It's basically a summary of Y/n's backstory and a bit of history of what happened during the first wizarding war. I've published it both on AO3 and Wattpad so you guys can check it out:) The first chapter is a WIP so it might be a week before I publish it but yeah, here's the prologue<3
My name is Y/n Lupin-Black. I live with my dads and my cat in a cottage. You can say it’s one of my favorite places to be at.
Both my dads were part of “The Order of the Phoenix” during the first wizarding war. Which eventually led them to me.
They were on an order mission, they were supposed to meet with their informat for some new information that could possibly help fight Voldemort and his followers. But instead of being faced by their informant, they found me in a basket with a note.
“Keep her safe.” was all it said.
They met up with the informant a few days later and they said they didn’t know who I was or where I came from. They didn’t know what else to do with me other than take me in.
Even in the middle of the war, they decided to take in a baby they had no idea about. I was only a few months old at that point.
As the war became worse, lots of people started to go into hiding, specifically the Potters. They knew their son, Harry, was one of Voldemort's primary targets so they had to keep him safe. They made sure to make my papa, Sirius, the secret Keeper.
Things started to turn around when my uncle, Regulus Black, decided to join the Order. He told the order of Voldemort’s plans and revealed some very shocking news. Specifically the one about Peter Pettigrew’s betrayal to the order.
They cornered Peter and got him locked up in Azkaban. But the Dark side still had no idea about Regulus’s betrayal so he worked as a double agent.
One night, Sirius went on an order mission while Remus looked after me. Unfortunately Sirius was taken by a group of snatchers that ambushed the mission and took him to their headquarters.
I still don't know what they did to him to this day but they pried the Potter's location out of his mind and knew where the Potters were.
Luckily Regulus was there and warned the order and they managed to get to the Potters home to try and evacuate the Potters to safety. But they had arrived at the same time Voldemort and his cavalry did.
They fought within the Potter's home and at some point in the crossfire, Harry was hit. Fortunately, Harry didn't die and was simply left with a scar. A very cool scar, I might add.
During the fight, Regulus went on to the Death eater headquarters and rescued dad from their hold.
They managed to win the fight and defeated Voldemort once and for all. They arrested all the Death eaters and practically saved the wizarding world and the muggle world.
That was 12 years ago. I’m 13 now and going into my third year at Hogwarts. Through the years, everything had been full of chaos and mayhem. Some caused by me but many of them were due to Voldemort’s consistent attempts on coming back to life. Obviously each attempt failed horribly.
After the war, dad and papa moved to a small cottage far away from everything.
They lost a lot of people during the war and it left a big imprint in their lives. Dad says that Sirius has never been the same since uncle Reg got him back from the D.E headquarters. But he's gotten better over the years but he sometimes gets his episodes.
Growing up, the Potters visited quite often. I practically grew up with Harry and we were inseparable. Aunt Marlene and Aunt Lily would say we were the mini versions of James and Sirius.
Eventually we were introduced to the Weasley's and added Ron into our little group. But his older brothers who just happened to be a pair of twins had a special flair for trouble.
And how Aunt Lily likes to put it "Y/n is drawn to trouble the way a moth is to a flame". Can't say she's lying cause it's absolutely true.
The twins caught wind of my pranking streaks and ever since then, we became a pranking team. That was until they had to go off to Hogwarts. I spent my days at the cottage just reading and quizzing with Dad. Spending some time with Ron and Harry, along with Ginny.
When it was my turn to come to Hogwarts, let's just say it was a bit of a bumpy road. A certain professor with a purple turban who just so happened to have Voldemort at the back of his head, nearly killed us during our first year.
The following year after that, the legendary Chamber of Secrets was reopened and Voldemort's 16 year old self practically possessed Ginny for most of the year.
With the third year closing in, I'm simply praying that if there is going to be a life-threatening situation I'll be put in, may it be less dangerous than the ones before.

.:Time and Time Again:. (Marauders Era x Reader) Ch 2
As you reconcile with Sirius, he reminisces on how you came to be friends despite a rather rocky start (mostly told through flashbacks taking place in the Marauders era).

Ch 2 .:Pranks and Past Prejudices:.
~Previously~
“I was about to see if you were awake,” Sirius admitted with a small grin, “Seems we both had the same idea.”
He shifted his weight from foot to foot, stepping aside slightly so you could come in. If the Sirius Black from your school days had offered you into his room in the dead of night, you would have slapped him upside the head; but things were different now, and so were the two of you.
However, as you glanced around the room you almost laughed at how remarkably unchanged it was, and why wouldn't it be? He hadn't lived here since he was sixteen, and he was only living here now because he preferred this house to an Azkaban cell by a small fraction. While the rest of the house was set in deep tones of obsidian and gray, save for the green Slytherin theme of his younger brother's room, Sirius' room was all warm shades of red and gold, Gryffindor paraphernalia covering every inch of it from Quidditch trophies and old banners to a tapestry he had stolen from the Great Hall when they'd won the house cup that year.
The room was littered with memories of your school life— a set of charred robes from when he and James had drunkenly lit the Quidditch field hoops on fire, an old Beater's bat that he had broken in half during the Cup finals, an old Gobstones set you used to play with in the courtyard, and stacks of classic rock records that you and Remus had gifted him for the holidays. A muggle toolbox sat in the corner of the room from when he'd made improvements to his enchanted motorbike that couldn't be done with magic, which you were certain his parents were mortified by.
Posters of bikini-clad women were plastered across the wallpaper, and you recalled the day he told you his mother had a fit when she realized he'd used a permanent sticking charm on them so she couldn't take them down. Said posters were still present, but mostly covered up by all the photos of him and his friends from their school and early Order days— the only noticeable sign of change you could see from his moving back in. It was truly like some sort of time capsule.
As soon as you tore your eyes away from the room and turned to focus on its owner, a tense silence fell between you two. This was the first time you had seen Sirius in over a decade. The last time you two spoke, he was in chains being led away to Azkaban. What was there to say? How could you possibly think things could go back to the way they were?
“Sirius,” your voice cracked with emotion as you said his name, and when you saw the look in his eyes, so similar to the look he'd given you when he was in that horrible barbed cage during his trial, the dam just broke.
You practically threw yourself at him, sobbing quietly into his shoulder as the fabric of his shirt bunched up in your trembling hands
“I'm sorry,” you said, “I am so, so sorry I didn't believe you, Sirius. I didn't know, I didn't—”
“(Y/n), it's okay,” Sirius said softly.
You almost jumped at his gentle touch, his arm wrapping around your waist and one hand coming up to pet your hair. It hurt him to see you like this, that you went through this much because of him.
“There was no way you could have known,” he said, resting his chin on top of your head as tears continued to stream down your face, “There was no proof that I wasn't the Secret Keeper. We'd decided to make it that rat at the last second. Only James and Lily knew and, well, they couldn't exactly attest to my innocence.”
Hatred bubbled up in his chest at his own mention of Pettigrew, but he forced it down for you, his expression softening as soon as he looked at you. “That was bad judgment on my part, I suppose,” he said in an attempt to lighten the mood, although twelve years in prison was a difficult matter to joke about.
“I should have just believed you,” you muttered into his collar. Sirius' other hand reached out to cup your face, wiping the last few tears from your cheeks.
“Come now, even Moony thought I'd done it,” he said, a small smirk finding its way to his face, “I know what it looked like. . . I don't blame any of you for not believing me. So please, don't blame yourself for this, (Y/n). You're still my best friend.”
“Oh, now you've done it,” you sniffled, laughing despite yourself as fresh tears spilled over. Sirius laughed along with you and yo u could feel the sound reverberate through his chest, rich and melodic. Warm.
He wrapped both his arms around you, holding you tight as you two chuckled like a couple of idiots, standing there glassy-eyed in the middle of his room. If anyone else had bore witness to the scene they'd have thought you'd gone mad, but in that moment you couldn't care less. Your body had been buckling under the weight of your guilt and how much you had missed him. Hearing him say that he still considered you his best friend. . . that was more than you could have ever asked for.
Sirius swelled with pride as he saw he was able to make you smile, something he'd long considered a small victory. He couldn't believe how much your relationship had changed. If someone had told him all those years ago that you would turn out to be someone he couldn't imagine his life without, he wouldn't have believed them. But he supposed life was unexpected like that. . .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1973 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ever since the day you'd stood up to him, James Potter found himself increasingly curious about you. Of course he and his friends continued to pick on Snape, but when you were around to fend them off it became more and more difficult to do so, something that the leader of the self-proclaimed Marauders decided was cumbersome.
James insisted that to get to Snape they would have to take you down too, since you were so keen on protecting him.
“We need to cut the head off the snake,” he had said.
And so, slowly but surely, James shifted the cross hairs of his mischief-making from Severus Snape to you. It started out small; a Bat-bogey hex here, some heat sensitive combustion power under your cauldron there. What he didn't expect in the slightest was for you to actually retaliate with pranks of your own.
Quidditch season had just ended as the year came to a close, and James, who was supposed to be helping clean out the Gryffindor tent, was lying on his back and fiddling about with a golden snitch he'd found wedged in the wooden scaffolding. His head perked up as he saw the Lily across the pitch, walking next to you and chatting. He clearly couldn't care less about what, as he had no problem interrupting your conversation.
“Hey, Evans!” he hollered, heading towards you two.
As soon as Lily spotted him she rolled her eyes.
“And now we're walking faster,” she muttered, grabbing you by the arm and tugging you along.
“Aw come on, I just wanna talk,” he said, quickly catching up with you. Before long he had jogged a few paces ahead, turning around to block your path. “Hey,” he said with a smirk. He was wearing his Quidditch practice uniform, broom in hand.
“Merlin, you are nothing if not persistent,” Lily huffed.
“What can I say? I'm a Chaser~”
“Goodbye, James,” Lily deadpanned at the pun, and he quickly moved in front of her again.
“Wait, wait! Just watch this, okay?” he insisted.
You bit back a smirk, grateful he hadn't paid you any mind until now.
“Trust me, you've never seen anything like this before,” James said cockily, willing his broomstick to hover a few feet off the ground and hauling one leg over to mount it. However, as soon as his arse hit the wood, his entire body phased right through it. He groaned as his tailbone made unceremonious contact with the ground, his broomstick now hovering above him. As soon as he looked up the stick dropped and plonked him on the head, solid again.
You burst out laughing, revealing your wand that had been obstructed from his view by your sleeve.
“(Y/n)!” Lily looked at you in shock, hitting you in the arm playfully but unable to fight the laughter that rose in her chest. It was nice to see him get a harmless taste of his own medicine.
“Well, you were right, Potter,” the redhead said, “I've never seen anything like that before.”
James' face flushed with embarrassment while you two walked away, gathering his broom and whatever remained of his pride. You wouldn't get the better of him again.
Or, at least that's what he told himself until the beginning of your fourth year.
________________________________________________________
James strode down the corridors leading to the Great Hall with a pep in his step. It had been an unusually peaceful morning; despite having slept in, he wasn't in much of a rush to join his friends who had already made their way to breakfast.
The real reason for his quick pace was because he couldn't wait to see your reaction to his latest prank. It was a classic, amped up a bit thanks to a tube of ink from one of the “magic” markers at Zonkos. He hoped you liked your new look, because you were going to be saddled with it for a while.
As he walked through the courtyard he shot a wink to a fourth year Hufflepuff girl he recognized from his Divination class and she covered her hand with her mouth, turning away from him slightly as she tried to hold back the giggles that spilled from her lips. He gave himself a pat on the back, oblivious to the fact that the laughter was directed at him, an unawareness that stayed with him up until the moment he threw the doors to the Great Hall open. The gasps and laughter that followed him only grew as he sat down at his usual spot. Even his friends were staring at him, wide-eyed and unblinking.
“What?” James ran a hand through his hair in confusion, “What are you guys—!!”
As his hair flopped in front of his face his peripheral vision was curtained with the brightest shade of neon turquoise he'd ever seen.
“No,” he said, “no, no, no way!”
He grabbed one of the food trays, dumping the pastries that were on top onto the table. Peter squeaked as he caught a few that were about to fall, setting them down quietly on his own plate.
James stared at his reflection in the shiny metal, and sure enough his once pristine brunette hair was colored the bright blue of the magic marker whose contents he'd dumped into your shower bottle the night before.
“Did you like the shampoo?” a voice behind him asked innocently.
He nearly jumped out of his skin as he turned around to see you, your hair colored the same bright blue shade. Now he was thoroughly confused.
“It smells nice, right?”
“How did you. . . if I. . . why is your hair—”
“A simple connection charm on the shampoo bottle,” you said, “anyone who touches it receives the same benefits and results of the next person who uses it within three hours. In this case, you landed yourself a dye job and a hell of a keratin treatment, so you're welcome. The spell was already on the bottle to begin with; pretty convenient when you have dorm mates that can all save on buying product, and besides it can be kind of nice to skip a hair wash day every once in a while. I suppose I should thank you, I didn't have to do any shopping or sneaking around for this one. You did all the work for me.”
You put your hand to your chin, pretending to study him for a moment.
“You should take care of that fast, though” you said nonchalantly, gesturing to his hair, “you don't look nearly as cute as I do in this color, Potter.”
To further prove your point, you waved your wand around the crown of your head, and with a quick utter of 'aufero hue' the blue in your hair seemed to melt right off the strands, leaving behind your natural (h/c) locks. The color swirled around the tip of your wand in an aqueous state for a moment before you flung it aside. It landed with a splat! against the Gryffindor table, staining a section of the wood that same shade of bright blue as if it had grown that way.
“I'd do it for you myself, but I don't want to,” you smirked, “ Perhaps you could take a few remedial classes to learn the color-leeching charm. Have fun figuring something out!”
And with that you flounced away, leaving behind a very embarrassed, very blue, and very reluctantly impressed James Potter.
He may just have found himself a proper rival.
Sirius scoffed from where he sat.
“Oh please, the stupid charm can't be that hard to do,” he said, taking out his wand.
“Not that I don't have faith in you, mate, but I'm probably better off seeing if Slughorn has anything for this,” James said.
“Why don't you just soak your head in some Valerian water? That's what takes the color out of potions, right?”
“Peter, he might go bald if he does that.”
“Oh.”
_______________________________________________________
James would go on to land a few good jokes on you too. There was one night where you had snuck into the Prefect's bathroom and emerged with a mermaid tail, which was pretty awesome until you realized you had no way of getting out of the tub. From then on, you and James would continue to try and get the jump on one another, marking the start of your now-infamous fourth year prank war. It entertained the students and infuriated the faculty. Gradually, your pranks on one another became more light-hearted, meant to amuse the other person and make them laugh rather than actually hurt or humiliate them.
“Very funny, (L/n),” James said as he walked up to you, his body turned around 180 degrees from the waist up so he had to shuffle backwards to face you. You laughed, nearly choking on your pumpkin juice as you saw your handy work.
“What are you, five?”
“Right, because you're so much more mature stalking and bullying my friends,” you quipped back.
“I really don't understand how Snivelus is your friend.”
“Severus,” you said crossly, “and for the record, I really don't understand how Remus is yours either. He seems like a nice guy.”
“Har har,” James rolled his eyes, “Now would you turn me the right way 'round already? I've got Quidditch practice.”
“Nah, I think you're fine to play like this.”
“Honestly? Not a bad tactic. I can cover my blind spot and stare at my own ass while I fly.”
“Who's five now?” you grinned.
As the months went on, instead of storming over to each other and slinging insults, your interactions with James became more akin to playful banter. And frankly, Sirius didn't get it. You were a Slytherin, and a pureblood at that. Hell, you were a descendant of one of the 28 pureblood families. Everything about you went against everything he believed in and relished in getting away from each year when he would leave home to go to school. You were in the same house as those stupid blood purists, you probably were one yourself—
“You're glaring.”
Sirius blinked, snapping out of his stupor as Remus nudged him in the shoulder. He said nothing, slowly returning to eating his dinner as he tore his eyes away from you, sitting at the Slytherin table with Snivelus, Evan Rosier, and his younger brother of all people. He stabbed at his roast potatoes a little too harshly and his friends traded looks among themselves.
“You alright there, mate?” James asked cautiously.
“Fantastic,” Sirius said, shoving another forkful of potatoes into his mouth to avoid saying anything unsavory as he spotted you heading towards their table.
“Coming to the library today, Remus?” you asked the boy to his right who looked up at you in surprise.
“Oh, sure thing,” he said, “I'm off for the night.”
“Great, we can study for Arithmancy then,” you said. Remus nodded at your suggestion and you gave him a dazzling smile, walking off with your books.
“Since when did you two get so chummy?” Sirius bristled.
Remus rolled his eyes.
“We're just studying for the upcoming mid marks,” he said, “They’re proficient in Ancient Runes and History of Magic. As a study partner it's. . . refreshing.”
“Oi, are you calling us stupid?” James rose a brow.
“Your words, not mine,” Lupin grinned. He saw Sirius' bothered expression and sighed, collecting his things.
“You might get on if you bothered to get to know them,” he told Sirius out of the others' earshot, slinging his book bag over his shoulder before heading off in your direction.
You only continued to grow inadvertently closer to James throughout your fourth year, your prank battle coming to its epic conclusion with the two of you joining forces against some particularly nasty upperclassmen. Your practical jokes subsided, your quips and passing insults were traded for real conversations and walking each other to class. You hated to admit it, but he'd grown on you— especially with him letting up considerably on bullying Severus and annoying Lily lately.
All the while, the closer you got to James the more irritated his best friend became. In Sirius' mind, the more time you were spending with James the less time James was spending with him. They hardly hung out alone anymore. And since James started hanging out with you he started mellowing out, which made Lily start hanging out with him, which made him even more tame. Sirius just wanted his best friend back.
“You do realize that issue would largely be resolved if you weren't so bothered by hanging out with both of them together, right?” Lupin had brought up one night as Sirius was airing out his frustrations.
“I'm not going to bother making friends with someone whose family is so wrapped up in blood politics they forget to be human beings first. Trust me, I've met their mother enough times to know.”
“Have you ever asked them about it?” Remus pressed.
“I don't really need to, do I? They're a (L/n). Open your eyes, Moony!”
Remus' brow furrowed, a shine in his eyes akin to sympathy as he regarded Sirius.
“Perhaps it's you that needs to clear your vision, friend.”
“Please enjoy your dinner and relax this evening!”
You sat with your friends, directly next to Sirius while Dumbledore’s voice boomed through the Great Hall, food appearing down the table in front of you.
There were only a couple days left of your sixth year at Hogwarts, the summer holiday so close you could reach out and grab it.
“So what are we doing after dinner?” James asked.
You grabbed a spoonful of mashed potatoes, starting to make a plate of food for yourself. “How about we hang out by the lake?”
James quickly swapped his plate for yours, leaving you to give him a lovely middle finger.
“Prongs,” Sirius chastised as you laughed. You laid a head on his shoulder, telling him it was harmless.
Your boyfriend pushed his own plate over in front of you, urging you to sit up and eat.
James shrugged his shoulders, promptly digging into the wonderful food in front of him.
“Y/n,” Lily started. “I really like that idea. We can all go—”
“But y/n never swims,” Peter cut her off, nearly whining.
“Yeah, it’s not fun without you,” James added. “Why can’t you just go in for even a little bit?”
You glared at the two of them. “Absolutely not.”
Sirius grabbed your hand under the table, squeezing it before placing a kiss to the top of your head. “You better not have just gotten crumbs in my hair,” you whispered, shoving his shoulder.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You stepped outside, hand in hand with Sirius as the warm glow of the sun setting lay a blanket on the world around you. Your friends had already made their way out here, the only reason you two are arriving now is because of the boy next to you.
“C’mon, I need to go back to my dorm. I wanna bring a towel in case I decide to go in.”
“Well do you want to swim or not?” you asked.
“I haven’t decided yet,” he laughed.
“You are the most indecisive person I know, Sirius,” you took his hand, following him up to Gryffindor tower.
“Am not.”
“You are,” you laughed. “Well I’m deciding to lay out, maybe read a book. I’ve also decided that I’m stealing a blanket.”
“Hey, stop rubbing your decision making skills in.”
“Oh, and I’ve decided I’m stealing a jumper.”
He gave a dramatic frown.
You gave a quick kiss on the side of his cheek as he stepped through the portrait hole.
“Well can I at least pick which jumper you steal?”
“Hmm, I don’t know if you’d be able to decide which one.”
You spotted your friends and they waved, casting you smiles from the lake.
Sirius dropped your hand, skipping a couple steps to be in front of you, walking backwards.
“I have a question for you, y/n.”
“Ask away,” you sighed, a smile curling at the corners of your mouth.
“Be honest. Would you still give me a hug if I were to have just gotten out of the water? A kiss perhaps?”
You burst out laughing. “No. No way. Not when I’m perfectly dry.”
“Well maybe we’ll have to test out that theory.”
You deadpanned. “You’re hilarious.”
“I am, aren’t I?”
You spread out your blanket, lying down and soaking in what the sun had to offer before setting completely.
Sirius made his way to the water before the light had disappeared entirely. You closed your eyes, enjoying some much needed rest.
You didn’t know how long you’d been asleep for, and it didn’t really matter now. All you knew that you were hovering over the lake. You had to be dreaming.
You couldn’t tell how high up you were, you were barely able to make out the silhouettes of your friends.
“Ha-ha, very funny!” you called out. “You can put me down now.”
James’s voice echoed up to you. “What? You don’t want to come in for a little swim with us?”
You looked down and saw his little grasp on his wand as he controlled how far you were from falling.
“James, please put me down on the grass.”
You could hear it in his voice. You could hear how he expected this to just be a harmless little prank of his.
“But it will be much funnier if you plop into the water. Just a small plink.”
He didn’t even give you time to respond before you were plummeting into the lake. Your friends were further away than they seemed to be. James had thrown his head back in laughter, ignoring you. Ignoring how fear took over your body, making it nearly unbearable to relax and just float. It was hard to breathe, you could barely even cough as you struggled to stay above water.
“James? What the fuck?” Sirius was at your side in a matter of moments, his arms wrapped around you as you clung onto him for dear life. You had gotten yourself into a coughing fit, as soon as you were steady afloat. You didn’t know if the tears streaming down your face were from embarrassment or genuine fear.
“I feel pathetic,” you finally whispered to Sirius as he swam to the grass.
“Everyone has something that gets to them like this. James didn’t know,” he whispered back while he lifted you out of the water, pulling himself up after. “Are you alright? Can you breathe okay? Do you need to see Madam Pomfrey?”
You sat up, wiping at the tears from in your eyes, your hands moving to fumble with the grass blades in front of you. “I think I’m alright.”
Sirius called for a towel with a near perfect wordless spell. He caught it before it flew right into the back of your head, wrapping it around your body snuggly. He ran his fingers over your face, wiping away the droplets of water, pushing your hair back out of the way. “I’m really sorry about all this, y/n,” he said. “I wish I would’ve seen what was happening.”
The overwhelming feeling had pooled tears in your eyes. You slouched down, leaning into his side. “No, it’s alright. It’s not your fault,” you choked out a laugh, wiping under your eyes.
He took your hand, curling his fingers around yours, rubbing gently against the top. “Want me to go get James? Rough him up a bit?”
A smile crept upon your face. “No, it’s alright.”
A genuine laugh bubbled up in your throat. He hugged you tight, speaking quietly. “How about we go back up to my dorm? Get settled in some warm clothes?”
“I like that idea,” you said. “But only if you carry me.”
And that’s exactly what Sirius did. He carried you all the way up to his dorm, letting you change into dry clothes and slip under the covers first.
He didn’t take long himself, turning the bathroom light off as he made his way over to you. He pulled back the blanket atop of you for a brief moment before laying down and pulling you up against his chest with one swift movement of his arm. You turned your head upwards, opening your mouth to talk, yet failing to produce any words. Your voice cracked, tears appearing once more.
Sirius rolled you over, brushing the hair out of your face and wiping away the tears as they spilled over, muttering soft notes of reassurance. “You’re okay now, y/n.”
“It was really scary,” you whispered, the lump in your throat aching as you spoke.
“I know, darling. But look where you are,” he smiled, kissing your forehead sweetly. “Let’s focus on the present: you’re in bed with me, you’re in comfortable clothing, and you have a blanket to keep you warm and safe.” He tucked the material closer up under your neck.
“I’m right here. Nothing like that is going to happen again,” he trailed off. “I’m here to hold you, darling.”
“Thank you.”
He kissed your nose and wiped away the last of the tears. You turned over once again, tucking yourself in his arms.
It was quiet for a mere moment.
“Hey, you’re sure you don’t want to get back at James? I could make a wonderful polyjuice potion over the summer. James would make for a lovely black dog I know of.”
You contemplated. “I don’t think James could pull off being that lovely.”
“You’re right, nobody can be as lovely as me.”

Repaying the favor of unusual characters:
Petunia Dursley
Percy Weasley
Regulus Black
You can skip any if you’d like no worries <3
Ohooo, fairly strong feelings on the lot!
Favorite thing about them
Petunia knew what she wanted and fucking went for it. I have to respect that if nothing else -- she shared that with her sister. Also, don't let anyone ever tell you that Vernon is the head of that family. He is not.
Percy is honestly so insufferable but radiates such intense youngest-oldest-middle-child energy that I cannot help but relate to him on an instinctual level.
Regulus has the top redemption arc of the story, regardless of how little it was explored in canon.
Least favorite thing about them
Petunia is literally top tier awful mom. Not sure if she beats out Walburga but it's like. Close.
Percy see above about COMPLETELY INSUFFERABLE. The man simps for authority and I'm NOT ABOUT IT.
Regulus has no information about him aside from what we're hearing second-hand and so none of it is reliable. WHO ARE YOU, WATER BOY???
Favorite line
Petunia not a line so much as a moment: the farewell scene with Harry when she was leaving and stopped to say something to him and then didn't. There is so much character packed into that non-line.
Percy "I quit" mid-duel was such a big dick energy move and I'm so glad that Fred got to be present for that. (I am still pretending it wasn't the last thing he ever heard.)
Regulus the only "line" he got was the letter, but boy does it tell you a lot about what Regulus was like as a person. Which is to say, very much like his brother, whether he wanted to admit that or not lol.
brOTP
I'm just going to blanket-statement here: their actual siblings. I will not be taking criticism on that.
OTP
Petunia living her best single life and maybe unfucking her worldview.
Percy and Oliver Wood OR Pansy Parkinson. I got sold on the latter in very specific circumstances.
Regulus okay so this is out of left field a bit but while Jegulus is a vibe and I dig it, can we talk about the sheer drama potential of Remus just having the hots for both of the Black Brothers? Especially in the middle of the war? THINK ABOUT IT.
nOTP
Petunia and Vernon tbh. They just aren't good for each other. Toxic and stagnant in all the worst ways.
Percy and Hermione. Just seems uninspired, and I feel like they'd bring out the worst in each other.
Regulus and anyone with the same last name as him, I know it's A Thing with their family but please Do Not.
Random headcanon
Petunia is the one that Harry got all that sass from; he talks and writes like his mom, and that's all learned from Petunia, who is more like her sister than she ever wanted to admit.
Percy did not flip out only over the fact that his dad was claiming he only got his job because the Minister was trying to use him. It's because his parents were trying to explain to all the kids what happened to his old pet rat, and it made him feel like he was being tied to a bunch of murders, right on the tail of all the shit that went down with Crouch. His thinking there was that if Dumbledore went to the Ministry with that, he could completely destroy the entire family. But his phrasing made it sound like he was only worried about his new job with the Minister, which is when Arthur slapped him down and the argument broke out in earnest. (I have more about his war efforts but I'm low on time.)
Regulus was exactly like Sirius, only better at listening quietly and acting out his impulses more subtly. Sirius took the blame for many things that Regulus did as a child. They still would have died for each other, even at the end.
Unpopular opinion
Petunia probably looked quite a bit more like her sister than canon details; it was most likely just unflattering haircuts/clothes/personality lol.
Percy I like him better than Bill or Charlie, and I find him more narratively interesting than the Twins.
Regulus probably didn't betray V and the Death Eaters for ideological reasons, but more than likely it was a political one. I am distinguishing these because I don't think he changed his tune on Muggleborns and most likely still considered his family wizarding royalty. I think he just didn't want to bow to anyone, and resorted to treason in the shadows rather than outright defiance like his brother in order to achieve that end.
Song I associate with them
OK so sad times here, but I don't... actually have one? Mostly because most everything I listen to becomes Remus or Sirius lmao. Sorry. XD
Favorite picture of them
Petunia: Tough, but I really like this one from the HP Lexicon https://www.hp-lexicon.org/character/dursley-family/petunia-dursley/
Like, what a mood that is.

EXCUSE ME.
Regulus https://artbyflor.tumblr.com/post/619147373646577664/regulus-arcturus-black-lighting-study-character
(I love Flor's art so very much <3 ) But I especially love how this one illustrates just how very like his brother he actually is without actually showing much at all.
Thanks for the ask!! <3

and I just want to hold you close
Sirius emerges from the bathroom, rubbing at his hair with one of the towels Remus had left for him and wearing Remus' pyjamas. Dinner is waiting, and Remus sits at the other side of the table. Candles are lit and there's a jug of juice in the middle.
Sirius looks at the table for a long moment, a little surprised at the sight. "Candles?" he asks, his voice hoarse.
Remus nods. "The lamp in the corner doesn't lend much light here," he explains, "and the big light is uncomfortable on the eyes in the evening."
Sirius nods and sits down. He grabs the fork quickly and glances up at Remus. Remus stares back, his eyes drifting over Sirius' gaunt face. His cheekbones are more prominent now, his face too skinny. It used to be Remus that was a bit too thin.
"You've seen me at my worst," Remus murmurs. "No need to keep pace with me."
With that, Sirius starts to eat. There's no polite cutting of his food, no matching Remus' pace, no idle conversation. Remus doesn't watch, he keeps his gaze on his own meal because Sirius doesn't need an audience.
When he hears the cutlery clatter against the plate, he looks up to see Sirius wiping at his mouth with the napkin.
"There are leftovers," Remus tells him. "Have what you need."
"Are you saving them for tomorrow?" Sirius checks.
"I can make more. I'd rather you be satisfied."
Sirius shrugs. "I can have something else. I don't want to eat everything. I... I appreciate this. I know you didn't expect me to just—"
"I expected you," Remus admitted quietly. "I knew you'd... find your way to me, I suppose. That you'd come back here, or that you'd call me to you once you found somewhere to be."
He lifts the fork to his mouth, and risks glancing up. Sirius is staring at him and, as he did back at Hogwarts, he feels bare at that intense gaze, like Sirius is reading every thought before Remus can voice them, as though Sirius is analysing every expression on Remus' face, reading him better than anyone ever has.
"Do you still love me?" Sirius blurts out, and there's a flicker of vulnerability on his face before that impassive look returns.
Remus wants to deny his feelings, or tell Sirius that it's not the time. It's really not the time to do this, because Sirius just got here. He needs time to recover. They both need time to process events.
Remus is still coming to terms with Peter's betrayal. He's spent so long thinking Peter dead, and that day in the Willow... seeing Peter's name on the map. Whilst that betrayal happened years ago for Sirius, it's all new to him.
But he knows Sirius as well as he knows himself. He's always been able to read Sirius, and Sirius is looking to know that he matters. That something survived Azkaban.
"I had other relationships," Remus admits quietly. "When you were away."
"I don't care about those," Sirius says, hurriedly. He leans forward, elbows on the table. Remus almost laughs at the sight, because he can only think of the Sirius from his younger days, who broke every rule from Grimmauld Place, even ones as simple as 'don't put your elbows on the table'.
"Of course I still love you. What we had... it was extraordinary. If I knew that you'd be with me once more, I'd have not bothered trying to date anyone else."
"I know," Sirius murmurs. "I love you too. I watched you, you know. You didn't see me, I was always good at hiding, but I saw you from a distance at the school and more than anything, I wanted to approach you. Moonpie. I've missed you. I've watched every full moon from that cell and thought of you and hoped you weren't alone."
"I was alone," Remus tells him quietly. "I blamed you for a long time. I... you left me. I know it was unreasonable of me to do so, but I was so hurt. I..." He reaches up, fingers stroking over the scar on his face and he sighs. "I'm sorry for everything on my part. Had I been more honest, more transparent about what I was doing, perhaps you'd have trusted me a little more and—"
"I forgive you everything," Sirius whispers. "And I'm sorry. I'm sorry for not trusting you, for the fights. For everything that happened because we didn't include you in the truth. I'm sorry you've been alone for so long. If you let me, I'll do everything I can to make sure you're not alone again."
Remus shouldn't rush into this, but he's thought so much about this in the time since Hogwarts. They've shared a handful of letters over that time, but haven't really talked or worked out feelings or anything else.
"I want that," he says, because doesn't he deserve to be happy? Doesn't Sirius? Maybe the midst of war is not the time to start up a relationship, but they've both learnt the hard way that they've got to find happiness where they can.
Remus finishes eating, offering Sirius some of his plate, which Sirius insists that Remus finish himself. Remus does as he's told and whilst Sirius puts the plates away, Remus locks the doors and sets the wards. He blows out the candles.
"Will you share with me?" Remus asks. "I can take the other room if you prefer."
Sirius shakes his head. "Please," he murmurs, reaching for Remus' hand. "I just need you in my arms."
Remus smiles. He needs this too. He leads the way to the bedroom even though Sirius knows the way around the old cottage.
"Wait," Sirius says, freezing as they approach the bed. "What's that?"
Remus pauses from unbuttoning his shirt and follows Sirius' gaze. On the bedside table are two small toys that two teenage boys bought each other for their first valentines day. A small stuffed wolf and a small stuffed black dog.
"I've held on to them all of these years, and I have some of your things in the back of the wardrobe. I never could part from everything."
"You kept these though." Sirius laughs softly. "I never thought I'd see them again. But you kept them. They mattered to you enough to keep."
"Sirius, you are and always have been the love of my life. I needed something to cling onto," Remus explains. "Remember, we were going to pass them down to our kids one day."
"When I'm a free man, we can adopt... I mean, we should really discuss whether that's on the cards for us."
"As long as we're together, I'm happy," Remus tells him. "As long as I get a future with you."
Sirius beams as he strips out of the pyjamas Remus had given him to dress into after the shower. He's all skin and bones, but dark tattoos cover a lot of his skin and Remus in intrigued. One day he'll take time to explore them, but right now...
Remus lays down next to Sirius and wraps his arms around his love. They have all the time in the world.

Good Company
Lupin!Reader x James Potter
W.C. : 2849
This is a Request from my friend @fleurdeslunes! I hope you like it and that I didn't change your request that much. I can´t find the request but it was something along the lines of: The reader is the twin sister of Remus and James' girlfriend where she doesn't like to be touched, the only one that can are Remus and James.
Warnings: Mentions of blood and a wound.
The mornings at Hogwarts were usually quiet. The morning breeze flowing around in the air as the cold settled on the cheeks of the many students in the form of a faint pink blush. It was almost like being in a dream. The echo of your footsteps on the grand hallways, the firm feeling of stone as you ran your hand over a wall, some owls flying here and there in the morning sky, where there was light but still the sun wasn’t fully out. The kind of sky you could enjoy from the hills that rolled straight into the black lake, feelling the sun touching your skin as it slowly made its way up for the day.
If you weren’t watching precisely that, you would think it was about a dream and sadly, all dreams must come to an end.
Time for breakfast was almost upon you, and if you wanted to get your seat with your friends you had to leave immediately. Staring at the sky for a couple more seconds, you said a silent goodbye to the picture before you, smiling as you started walking. Your eyes remained on the horizon, taking a couple steps backwards before you fully turned in your heel.
You didn’t even see the people running in your direction until it was too late.
You could swear they didn’t see you either, pushing you out of their way with the same force they carried with them as they ran. Your feet stumbled back, your back hit the stone wall, making you fall with a hollow sound, one that didn’t go unnoticed by the others in the hall.
Soon the air was filled with murmurs, questions directed to you as many gathered around you. Two girls were to your right, one talking to you as the other tried to reach for your hand.
Your free hand rubbed your head, your eyes squinted closed due to the pain in your back and the throb in your ankle. It was too loud. Once your head started registering the voices from the girls next to you, you tried to muster your best smile, a tight smile appearing on your face as you shook your hand out of her grasp.
They gave you a worried look as you placed both hands on the floor, pushing yourself to a standing position when a hissing sound flew from your mouth, your body falling once again to the floor. Your grunt making the girls move again.
“Let us help you.” she said kindly, her hand coming to your forearm as her friend tried to do the same. “We’ll take you to the hospital wing.”
You were shaking your head furiously, fighting their hold from your arms. “It’s fine, please”
“Y/N?” you heard your name being called, the crowd around you opening as a relieved sigh left your mouth. “Don’t” James said, pointing to the hold the girl had on your hand as she tried to pull you to your feet. She let go as soon as James got to your side, kneeling beside you and placing a hand in your cheek, nodding in your way and never moving his eyes from you until you nodded back at him, a smile spreading on his face “Thank you, but I got her.” he told the girls, both pulling away with a smile as he turned his attention to you.
The crowd dissipated as soon as James arrived, the incident turning to a distant memory in the student’s brains.
“Hi.” he said to you, your defeated face lighting up as he spoke “Don’t get me wrong, you look gorgeous sitting on the floor but I have to ask, Why are you sitting on the floor?”
You chuckled, pointing to your ankle that was quickly swelling, the little skin that showed between your shoe and the jeans you were wearing for the weekend now a bright red where a dark bruise would form in the following days “You could say that I fell and now I can’t stand up.” you told him, getting a questioning look from him as he moved to check on your ankle, his eyes asking for permission to take off your shoe as you explained what had happened.
“You saw who it was?” he asked once you finished, his eyes deep in thought as he moved your feet, quickly apologizing at the hissing sound that left your lips.
“No,” you mumbled, knowing exactly why he wanted to know “I was too busy falling.”
He looked up at you with a smile. Of course you wouldn't tell him who pushed you, it was alright, he would find one way or another. Just matter of time. “Good thing is that it doesn’t look so bad but I’m not a healer.” he said, taking your hand and pulling you to your feet, your good foot supporting all of your weight as you rested your back against the wall “I’m taking you to the hospital wing, m’lady.” he said with a smirk, turning his back to your as he lowered his body.
“What are you doing?” you asked with confusion, looking as he turned again to you.
“You’ve never had a Piggyback before?” he asked “Moony is the worst brother.”
“Hey!” you laughed, “He is the best. And I know what a piggyback is, I’m just not letting you carry me all the way to the hospital wing.”
James made a sound with his mouth, turning to his side as he murmured “Like you have a choice.”
Next thing you knew, James had picked you up with both his arms, your arms instantly around his neck as you let out a surprised squeal. His smile reached his eyes, walking the halls as he glanced down at you “What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn’t take the chance to carry you, huh?”
“A normal one.” you chuckled, pulling yourself up to reach his cheek. He moved his face down automatically, your lips connecting with his skin in a quick kiss “Thank you for saving me back there.” you murmured, your voice soft as you thanked them.
“Anytime.” he said truthfully “You didn’t look very comfortable, I thought you needed some help.”
“Yeah.” you mumbled, snuggling closer to him in thought. When did you start to trust him enough so that now he was holding your entire body without a trace of anxiety in your body ?
**************************************
Remus is your brother, your twin. There was no other person on the planet you were closest to. He knew you better than anyone and you knew him like the back of your hand. You could put on a smile and he could tell by the sound of your voice you were hurting. He could put on a calm face and say something didn’t matter to him but you knew he was a second away from punching someone across the face. Maybe you had a twin connection, or maybe growing up together and being the only ones there for one another brought you closer than anyone else could ever dream of. No one really knows, and you don’t care at all. You just knew you loved your brother above all else.
The nights of the full moon were the worst for both. Remus suffered what a person should endure in a lifetime during one night. You felt his pain as your own and even then you knew, it didn’t come any closer to what he actually went through.
You made an arrangement. Every full moon, you would go to the Shrieking Shack and sleep there, waiting for the morning to arrive so he could return and meet you there or you would have to go and look for him. Needless to say, you didn’t sleep much those nights.
One specific full moon, you were sitting at the Shrieking Shack, resting your head over your hands on the old piano that sat in the middle of the room. It was something that brought you comfort during the hours you spent there, playing soft tunes that Remus had taught you. It was the only thing that could bring a smile to your lips. You started playing the keys slowly, the sound lingering in the air as your movements became faster, the melody taking a shape that engulfed you in your own little bubble that you didn’t even hear the clapings behind you until they were right next to you.
You jumped in your seat, stumbling to your feet as you pulled your wand from your sleeve.
“No need for that.” James said, hands in the air as he watched you slowly relax.
“What are you doing here?” you asked him harshly, closing the piano’s lid and falling to your seat once more.
“You can drop the act, Y/N.” he told you softly, walking around and taking a place on the floor across from you “We know about Moony.” he said, your face going pale at his words.
“What?” you stuttered, “What about him?”
Your heartbeat quickened as a soft smile appeared on James’ face, he had his head low, fingers drawing lines on the dusty floor as he shook his head. “We’re not that stupid, you know?” he told you “And you two aren’t that discret. We put two and two together and followed you.”
You stared at him with an eyebrow raised “We?” you asked.
“Sirius and Peter are arranging some things for Remus.” he answered, the questioning look on your face making him sit straight, his full attention on you making you shift, a soft grunt leaving your lips as your eyes danced between your side and the boy in front of you. “For when he gets back, I’m sure he’ll need more than just bandages…” he trailed off, seeing the glistening in your eyes as tears started to form “Hey, are you alright?” he asked, standing to his feet and taking a hesitant step forward, coming to halt as Remus’ words echoed in his ears.
No one touches my sister.
By the look on your face, James gathered Remus wasn’t just an overprotective brother.
You were pressing your hand over your arm, the white fabric sticking to your arm as a red spot formed. Your eyes held no emotion as you shrugged your shoulders, pressing your hand once more over the wound.
“You’re bleeding.” he mumbled.
The serious look on his face made you nervous as you nodded. “It’s nothing.” you whispered “I tripped and fell over my arm, that’s all.”
James said nothing as you avoided his eyes, knowing for sure you didn’t trip. “I’ll go look for something to clean that up.” he said, almost at the door when your voice stopped him .
“I have everything I need here.” you picked up your bag, wiggling it in the air with a shy smile “Apart from sister I’m half nurse too.”
James breathed out a laugh, returning to his spot on the floor, this time sitting closer to you. “You need help?” he offered, watching as you stretched your arm over your chest to reach the place you needed.
“I got it.” you whispered surely, moving thoughtlessly for a couple of minutes before your arm was bandaged.
He had stared in awe as you cured yourself, him being a frequent visitor at the hospital wing couldn't even think of tending to his own wounds, he knew how but never did it himself.
“You’re really good at that.”
“Taking care of Remus has its advantages.” you said, remaining in silence for a good couple of minutes, the previous conversation you held with him running circles inside your head. “You never told me what you were doing here.”
“What are you doing here?” he said back with a smile, making you shake your head as you crossed your arms over your chest, turning your body to the side. “Fine,” he laughed, “I’m here to keep you company.” he said after a few seconds, the light of the moon doing nothing but show even more the pink that appeared over his cheeks.
“Really?” you asked in disbelief.
“Is it that hard to believe?” he asked you back with the tilt of his head.
You nodded, not fully sure of what to do with that information. “Why you, though?” he looked taken aback, not sure what you meant until you added “Why not Sirius or Peter?”
“Do you want me to go get them?” he said pointing back at the door, an amused smile on his face “Didn’t know my company wasn’t worthy for the lady here.” he placed a hand over his heart, faking a hurt look as you erupted in laughter.
“You know that’s not what I meant!” you laughed, missing the glint that appeared on his eyes as he watched you laugh wholeheartedly. He had completed his task for the night.
“Don’t worry,” he said, ignoring your comments as he kept on “Next time you’ll get to choose who keeps you company. I’ll let Sirius know you asked for him first, let’s see how Remus feels about that one.” The smirk that formed on his lips did nothing to help you, the amusement in his words making it hard for you to stop laughing for a while.
But, when you did finally calm down, a comfortable silence had filled the space. You looked up through your lashes, James’ gaze completely focused outside the window where the sky started to get lighter, the night coming to an end. “So…” you said to capture his attention “Next time I’ll get to choose?”
He chuckled nodding his head “Peter has the better food and Sirius...” he told you, but you cut him off before he could say anything else.
“Can I ask for you again?” you asked in a whisper, but you knew he heard you. Wide eyes snapping up at you before he returned his face to his confident self once more. “Maybe?” you added.
His smile softened, no longer the smirk he carried wherever he went as he whispered back “Maybe.”
*****************************************************************
“And…” he said, making some twirls as he paced you down on one of the beds “We’re here.” he informed you triumphantly, the smile on his face only growing as he sat next to you and you placed a quick kiss to his cheek.
“My hero.” you said with a smile as you waited for Madame Pomfrey to get to you, the Hospital wing unusually flowing with students. “What do you think happened?” you asked curiously looking around to the line of beds, each one with a student.
James scratched the back of his head, his smile now nervous.
“James?” you asked again, looking for his eyes as your attention drifted from him to the fast footsteps approaching the Hospital wing.
Three figures slide through the floor, running and hiding behind a curtain as a very angry Professor McGonogall storms past the room. You stared with wide eyes, your gaze only moving when the figure of your brother emerged from behind the curtain.
“What did you do?” you asked him.
His smile fell and appeared over his face, his attention finally settling on James as he said “We found them.”
James let out a sigh, looking at his friends “You didn’t wait for me?!” he asked in frustration, a rant about to explode from his lips as the sound of Professor McGonagall’s echoed the halls once more.
“Black! Potter!” she yelled.
“I wasn’t even there, why is she looking for me?” he whispered shouted, the only thing making him react being the closer sound of her voice. James cursed under his breath, reacting immediately as he ran to your side “Sorry Love,” he said, placing a quick kiss on your cheek, not giving you time to respond “Someone’s gotta distract Minnie.” he said, the mischievous look in his eyes coming back as he elbowed Sirius.
Sirius nodded in return, both boys running out of the Hospital wing before you could react.
You squinted your eyes before turning to your brother “You found who, exactly?” you asked.
“The ones that pushed you.” he answered, letting his shoulders fall.
“James told you, didn’t he?”
“Yep.” he said, wrapping an arm around your shoulders “Peter found them, Sirius and I took over and… well, McGonagal wasn’t happy.”
You smiled at Peter, the boy sitting next to you, the three of you watched Professor McGonagall walk past the door with James and Sirius close by. You all stifled your laughter as they walked by.
“Someone’s got to get them out of detention.” you said, patting both Peter and Remus on the back “Go, I’ll wait for Madame Pomfrey here.”
“You sure?” asked Remus.
“Go get me my boyfriend.” you said.
Remus stopped, looking back at you with the tilt of his head “If you put it like that…”
“Go!” you laughed, throwing the pillow in the bed right at his head. They both ran out of there before you could do anything else but wait for Madame Pomfrey. You’ll see if they’ve made it out of detention later.

All the Pieces
Sirius Black/Fem Reader
Warnings: unedited, mild language, alcohol consumption, brief mentions of underage drinking, small mention of bullying. Lengthy author's notes at the end. Also this was a huge PIA to write so hopefully it doesn't read too disconnected
Part 1|| Part 2|| Part 4|| Part 5
Part 3 of ?
When you touch me gently I remember how you know And the sun shines rings around your smile And I'm here laughing like a child -Pieces, Dan Powell
If it was any other person on your doorstep, you'd probably berate them for inducing that almost heart attack you just experienced. Instead you grab the familiar face by the sleeve of his worn jacket, pulling him into your living room.
"I could deck you, Remus John Lupin. I thought someone came for him. Ugh. Come here." Your arms wrap around him for a tight hug, which he returns. "He's here, Remus. He's safe." You feel Remus let out a deep sigh of relief. Pulling away, you look at him with gentle scrutiny, knowing what a toll last night took on him. "You look awful. Did you walk far? You should've told me you were coming. I could have met you."
Remus shakes his head. "I caught a train and apparated most of the way."
"Stop fussing over him, y/n. Let the poor man get past the door." Sirius's teasing voice calls out from behind you; no doubt his canine ears allowed him to hear the familiar voice even through the closed bedroom door and knew it was safe to come down.
The two men embrace; this encounter being much more relaxed than their last. No Peter, no warranted need for revenge, no threat of execution.
As you all stand in your living room, a haunting thought hits you: you three are it, the last of your true friends. Peter is the traitor. You suppress a shudder, swearing to make the most of this moment.
"You know," you say with a grin, "I happen to have a large bottle of firewhisky. Fancy a drink, boys?" Sirius's grin mirrors your own. Remus has a small tentative smile, but it's all the encouragement you need to send you to the kitchen to fetch the bottle.
The small, quaint kitchen appears even smaller with the disregarded dishes from breakfast still sitting out on your table. The sight causes a small frown to appear on your face. All the rest of the morning and most of your afternoon had been lost to the unplanned nap with Sirius. You fill your sink with soap and hot water. A few flicks of your wand and your dirty dishes are submerged in the water, scrubbed, and rinsed. The process begins again as now clean plates make their way to the drying rack, which is concerning because you dont believe you cast a spell for that. Confused, you turn to see Remus in the kitchen. He winks and wordlessly reaches your top cabinet without so much of a stretch to retrieve the bottle of firewhisky. You follow him back to the livingroom, toting three glasses.
"Cheers to freedom," you say once everyone has a full glass, "and to being reunited with old friends."
"You hear that, Remus? She thinks we're old." You roll your eyes good naturedly. Remus rests a hand on Sirius's shoulder, giving it a brotherly pat. "We are old," he says simply, before all three of you raise your glasses to your lips, sipping at the burning liquid. You each settle comfortably in your living room. Remus sits in the armchair, leaving the overstuffed couch for Sirius and you. You sit at an end, while he opts for the middle seat, but in a respectable distance of your space. The bottle of alcohol sits in arms reached on the coffee table.
"I thought you swore off this stuff y/n." Remus says with a twinkle in his eye as he takes another drink from his glass. "You know, considering your history with it.." You groan and Sirius throws his head back in laughter.
"I almost forgot," Sirius says breathlessly from laughing. "Was that seventh year?"
"Sixth. Just before we got together. I suppose I was trying to impress you," you tell him.
"You matched me drink for drink that night."
"Which was mad seeing how I never had a drink before. I spent all next morning and afternoon in bed, throwing up. It was awful."
"You're forgetting the best part," Remus interjects.
"Dancing on top of that old table in the Shrieking Shack, singing the chorus of "Rock and Roll all Nite" at the top of my lungs was far from the best part. I only wish I could forget it."
"That wasn't singing, love. More like cats dying," Sirius quips while he and Remus laugh. You say nothing, well aware how accurate the description fits. You take a long drink from your glass.
"Yes, well as, uh, entertaining as that moment was, I wasn't referring to it," says Remus. You look at him questioningly. "Have you forgotten sneaking into the Slytherin boys' dorm, stealing all their robes, turning them hot pink, changing the crest to a mountain troll, and then returning them to the dorm?"
"Oh, Merlin. That was the same night wasn't it? James had never been so keen on lending me his invisibility cloak until I concocted that plan!" The two men laugh and you join in.
"You know most of my other friends thought I was strange for being into muggle music." You say as the laughter dies down.
"Lily shouldn't have?" Sirius asks after he swallows his drink.
"No. You're forgetting Lily and I weren't friends first. We didn't really talk or hang out until she and James started dating."
"That's right. I forgot. I remember the two of you constantly together."
"Because we bonded over you two idiots. Prior to that, she never came out and said it, but I think she thought I was daft hanging around you lot most of the time. The other girls were more forgiving, but they had crushes on you all." You give a careless shrug. It was no secret how sought after the boys had been in their schooldays.
"I never quite understood how you became friends with us," Remus says.
"It was easy with you. You were so nice, calm, dependable, and not obnoxious. Peter…" you pause, choosing words carefully, not wanting present feelings to influence memories. "He was quiet and lonely. Pretty much agreeable. Again, easy. James and Sirius? I was determined to never speak to either after that boat ride our first night."
"We saved your life that night!" Sirius interjects.
"You two were the reason it needed saving! Standing up in a fucking boat because you two saw whatever in the lake. James knocking me overboard in the process."
"It was a giant squid and we rescued you."
You roll your eyes. "I was drenched, freezing and completely mortified. And as apologetic as James was, he kept calling me the wrong name." You all laugh.
"It wasn't until second year that I thought they might be okay. We had already become friends," you say looking at Remus. "I missed about a week of classes due to acute bronchitis. You spent time with me afterwards, helping me catch up. When you missed later that month, I was ready to return the favor."
Remus nods, remembering the time fondly. "You were an excellent note taker. Much better than the other three."
"Did you even take notes?" You ask with a playful glance to Sirius.
"In second year? Probably not." He grins ever so cheekily. You shake your head, but are smiling.
"So we became friends and you befriended James and Sirius by default?" Remus muses.
Sirius feigns hurt. "Are you implying we were some sort of consolation prize?"
"Actually," you interject, "They saved me once again. A group of four older boys were harassing me, just dumb taunts and knocking my books out from my hands. They came right over, not caring about being outnumbered. Got the gits to leave me alone. James finally learned my name and I realized Potter and Black weren't so awful after all."
"Those guys were jerks. It didn't sit well with us to see anyone bullied like that."
"Unless of course it was Snape," you counter.
"That was different," Sirius's free hand clenches into a fist as he takes a hard drink.
Remus is quick to change the subject. "Do you still have that remembrall?"
"The one we enchanted to go red only for James? Mhm! It's at my flat in the city."
"Do you mean our flat?" Sirius asks.
Your smile falters. "No. Sirius. I got a different place. After…everything. It was too hard."
A deafening silence falls. Each of you taking long sips from your glasses.
"Oh!" You jump up suddenly, which given your somewhat inebriated state is not the brightest idea. You stumble slightly, but Sirius steadies you, grabbing you by your hips. His fingers linger and your eyes meet. You lose yourself; for a moment you're sixteen again and his touch is more intoxicating than the alcohol. His gaze tells you he feels the same.
Remus clears his throat loudly before taking a drink from his glass.
"Thanks," you mumble, setting your glass on the table.
Sirius releases you from his grasp, though you still feel the ghost of his touch. "'Tis no trouble, darling." You sense his eyes on you as you disappear from the room, heading upstairs. Your head is buzzing, but you blame that on the alcohol…
You return downstairs to the living room, the fetched item tucked securely out of sight under your arm, and find the boys, men talking with easy smiles. It makes you so happy to witness and spend this time together. Your presence has their full attention.
"Follow me, please." You fill your glass with more firewhisky. Sirius mimics the gesture and offers Remus a refill, but he just shakes his head no and silently indicates to the liquid still in his glass. You grab your wand and lead your little group outside to the backyard. The sun sits low in the west, the sky becoming more plum and black than pink and gold. Buckbeak sits on the ground near your shed, one wing tucked over its head.
You hand Sirius your wand and then produce his prisoner robes. He laughs and even Remus looks as if he approves. Sirius waves your wand and the dingy, tattered garment is set ablaze.
After a while, you all make your way back inside. You prepare a light dinner and the eating and drinking continue with more laughs and shared memories. Hours pass. The contents of the bottle nearly drained signal the night coming to an end.
"I'm one drink away from dancing on tabletops and singing, or, screeching some A-ha, or something equally as embarrassing." you laugh. "I'm going to bed. Remus, I offered Sirius your room, but you're welcome to the couch. There are blankets and pillows in the hall closet."
"Thank you, y/n. But I should be going."
"What? No. Stay. I insist. I need to see your bemused face sipping tea when I come downstairs with a bloody hangover and you're just fine."
Remus grins. "I hate depriving you both of such a moment, but I have an appointment tomorrow morning. I've already rented a room." You frown but don't press the issue any more. "Though if you don't mind, I thought I'd travel by floo."
"Of course. Help yourself. Powder is on the mantle." You hug him close and kiss his cheek. You excuse yourself, giving the other two time to say goodbye.
As you head for the bathroom, you pause hearing their low voices.
"I'm so sorry, old friend, for believing you... betrayed them. I should have known better. I-"
"There's nothing to forgive. I doubted you, too. The war made us all fear the worst.."
Mentally, you chastise yourself for eavesdropping and begin washing your face.
Sirius has made his way upstairs. In passing his room, you say goodnight. You're about to close the door to your bedroom when he calls your name and you turn to see him stepping towards you. Without warning his lips crash down on yours. Your fingers intertwine in his dark curls at the nape of his neck as you let the kiss deepen. His hands grip your waist and he hoists you up off your feet with little effort just as he did many times all those years ago. Your legs wrap themselves around his waist as he carries you to your bed. He drops you gently and only breaks the kiss to look at you. Still hovering over you, his gray eyes search your face for the answer to an unasked question. You nod in response, but he continues to gaze at you longing to hear you say it.
"I want you."
A slow breath of relief leaves him and his mouth finds its way back to yours.
The night ends with two former lovers once again completely losing themselves in a perfect moment.
//
There's an unspoken understanding that the night you and Sirius shared together was more than a drunken hookup after a long night of reminiscing. But you don't repeat the night, though you share your bed with him. Nights are hard for him. Sleep doesn't always come easy and he often wakes in the middle of the night screaming, or panicked with sweat pouring off his body. But your presence brings him a comfort he can't otherwise achieve. And so, you spend your night together in your bed. Sleeping.
As days turn into weeks, a comfortable routine has set. Remus visits about once a week. Surprisingly, Sirius has taken to caring for your garden. You go into town as needed and you and Sirius cook dinner together most nights. Buckbeak, now known as Witherwings per a letter from Hagrid that reached Sirius, roams your yard freely, occasionally taking flight in the safety of the countryside night skies, always returning by daybreak. As precautions for the hippogriff and Sirius you casted Protego totalum over the cottage and yards.
During this time together, Sirius learns how you took over your parents' shop*, how you've taken on a promising young woman who mostly looks after it, leaving you to spend more time here at the cottage, which also belonged to your parents. With tears in your eyes, you told him how they died months apart just over two years ago. He comforted you, remembering them both fondly and told you they'd be proud of you.
The day is still young when you tell him you have to go to the shop to take inventory. Before you leave you call out to him.
"Since it looks like rain, can you please go through some of your things in the attic?"
"Yes, dear," he uses the term mockingly and you playfully glare back at him.
"Try not to burn the place down while I'm gone." With that, you close the door behind you.
It's late afternoon when you return home. Sirius is waiting for you. A midnight blue box in his hand.
"Will you marry me, y/n?"
*a/n: I kept this vague so you can imagine a shop that fits your personality/likes/whatever. I'll only specify this later if needed for storylines. I wanted something where you could be allotted time off easily. Personally I imagine maybe an apothecary? Or maybe an antique shop. What about you?
2: I'm thinking of writing a prequel? More like blurbs, highlighting moments between you and Sirius. But I need to know what you want to read. First engagement? First kiss? When Sirius realizes he's in love? Time at Hogwarts? Post Hogwarts but pre Azkaban?

Okay so like Hanahaki disease between Wolfstar
Idk if I write good angst but like be warned because you might feel feelings lol
Tw: a little bit of blood during the coughing and throwing up bits so yeah be careful
Anyway enjoy :)
When Remus started to slowly realize, he knew he was fucked.
He couldn't stop looking at Sirius, couldn't stop blushing whenever the other boy touched him, or offhandedly complimented him. When Sirius just smiled at him softly, grey eyes sparkling like the most absolute pure silver ever to exist. It made his heart palpilate, his palms to sweat and shake.
Remus hadn't be one to believe in the Hanahaki disease. But that was foolish. After all, when he lived in a world where people turning into animals and luck potions existed. It really shouldn't have come to him as a surprise.
It all started with a sore throat, but Remus figured it was just because he hadn't drank enough water, so he shrugged it off.
Then came the shortness of breath. He felt like he couldn't breathe, especially around Sirius. But that was normal too, so he didn't think much about it.
But when Sirius had hugged him one day, murmured an "I love you" and proceeded to walk towards his new girlfriend for the week, he felt horrible pain in his chest and throat and choked on something.
A petal.
Specifically, the bright but somehow pale pink petal of a camellia flower.
Remus' eyes widened as he watched it float to the ground, landing softly. Nobody else noticed, not with the hectic movement of breakfast in the Great Hall.
Remus hastily picked the god forsaken petal up in his fist and shoved it into the pocket of his robes. Nobody could know. Not even James, Peter or Sirius.
Especially Sirius.
Not just because of Remus' pathetic crush on the boy, but because he knew that if Sirius found out, there would be no end to the guilt and self-blame to Remus' current predicament. He couldn't do that to Sirius.
So he kept quiet.
This secret was far easier to hide than his 'furry problem' shit, mostly because he didn't have to disappear monthly. But he still had to swallow down painful mouthfuls of petals whenever Sirius hugged him, or held his hand, or worst of all, when he would say "I love you". It really fucking hurt.
The pain was nearly unbearable, violent coughing fits seeming to come out of nowhere, hacking his chest so hard it ached deeply. Of course, the Marauders were worried, but Remus just rolled his eyes good-naturedly and blamed it on the moon, thought it was several weeks away.
Remus hid it well, considering that he coughed 24/7 and had to swallow down fucking petals.
But he gradually started to lose weight, which was alarming, considering he wasn't made much of anything else but skin and bones.
And then came the blood.
Remus had coughed into his hand, frowning when he felt warm wetness coat his palm. He pulled it away from his lips, freezing when he saw blood.
"Remus?" James asked. "You okay?"
Remus recovered from his shock and covertly wiped his lips in case there was any blood. "Yeah. My sore throat getting to me, 's all."
Sirius frowned and walked closer, fingers skirting over the base of Remus' throat. "You sure? You've been coughing for two weeks now."
It was all Remus could do to not cough up petals right there, chest hurting so badly the literal breath of his lungs had disappeared.
(He spent the better half of the night throwing up pink petals and blood in a bathroom)
"Remus! You're still up for that Hogsmeade trip this weekend, right?" Sirius asked one day, bright smile almost blinding as his arm wrapped around his newest girlfriend's waist. She pouted.
"I don't get why you can't go with me," she whined, delicate fingers grasping at his robes. "I'm your girlfriend."
Siriua frowned. "And Remus is my best mate? I don't really see any problem here. Hang out with, I don't know, Renee or something."
Sirius' girlfriend glared at Remus and jerked away, storming off towards the girls' dorms. Remus blinked, as if he couldn't care less. But the pain straining his chest and throat said otherwise.
Sirius cleared his throat awkwardly. "So, Hogsmeade then?"
----------
Hogsmeade was a disaster.
Not only did Remus have to swallow the most amount of petals he'd ever had to, Sirius just wouldn't stop touching him.
It hurt. It really hurt.
Remus even had to jerk away when Sirius placed a hand on his waist.
Remus felt nothing but agony.
---------
And on a dark, late night, Remus was jerked awale to the feeling of intense pain and the need to throw up.
He rushed to the bathroom, gagging and watching through blurry, tear-stained eyes that the petals had grown to full-blown flowers now, bloomed and everything. Blood drenched the flowers as well, and he couldn't stop sobbing into his hands, occasionally coughing up more petals and blood.
------------
Remus was snappish to everyone, even Lily.
He couldn't stop feeling on edge, mood swings nearly making him keel over from how overwhelming they were.
He couldn't focus on his lessons, and now he had to wear god fucking turtlenecks under his robes so people couldn't see the black, seemingly inked-on vines that had been starting to crawl up from his chest up to the middle of his throat.
And it all was fucking painful.
To feel every flower in his lungs, to have every breath short, to see Sirius smile softly at someone who wasn't him.
It all hurt too much.
And then it happened.
Remus had been listening to Sirius talk animatedly about this girl, Cordney was her name, about how pretty, talented, smart, perfect she was. He didn't realize he had zoned out until after Sirius poked him.
"Earth to Rem?" he asked, amusement lacing his voice. "You okay there, mate?"
Remus nodded, wincing slightly at the throb of pain it caused. "Yep. Just need a nap."
Sirius hugged him then, telling him softly that he could sleep with him if he had trouble resting.
And Remus collapsed.
----------
"Why didn't you tell me? Or any of us, even?" Siruus whispered, eyes raking over the vines stretched across Remus's chest and throat.
Remus looked away.
Sirius took a hand in his slowly, but retracted immediately when Remus started coughing violently. Madam Pomfrey rushed in, eyes sad as she ushered Sirius out.
"I'm sorry, love. I need to confirm if he has what I'm hoping he doesn't have," she said, patting Sirius' head affectionately. "Go ahead and rest up in the dorms."
------
Remus didn't want to forget Sirius.
But he had to. The flowers were going to kill him. And Sirius wasn't going to love him anytime soon, so he was forced to take the surgery.
And as Sirius held the werewolf's hand in his in the hospital room, after sobbing his entire heart out, realization dawned.
I love Remus.
And they watched in wonder as the vines slowly retracted, black ink disappearing ever so slightly.

I've got 99 problems, would you like to be one?
This is the sfw version and may read a little weird, since I just removed the spicy bit. So only read this if you absolutely hate smut xD
Chapter 6: Howling for You (mild version) spicy version
Next
Remus leaned against the counter and closed his eyes. He was so tired. Olivia had taken ages to finally fall asleep and Sirius wasn't here.
They hadn't been able to really talk - about their almost kiss and pretty much anything else - for the past three days and it made Remus a little anxious. He knew that Sirius probably wasn't avoiding him on purpose, but he couldn't help but wonder, whether he might have messed things up between them. Sirius had been busy tending to the residents and today, on his first free evening, he was hanging out with James. Planning wedding stuff, he had said.
So no motorcycle ride to calm down the restless Olivia today, and no chance to relieve the gnawing anxiety that had been festering inside Remus.
Instead, Remus had spent three hours reading books to Olivia, until she finally drifted off. She was probably still uncomfortable from the moon. But so was Remus. Actually very much so. And he really wanted to go to bed, but first he needed a minute to unwind.
He heard the kitchen door click open and couldn't supress a disappointed sigh at his plans of a late night cuppa by himself being thwarted by the intruder.
"Oh, hi. It's you. I was wondering who would be up at this hour."
Sirius. Maybe being intruded wasn't so bad.
"Hi. Yeah, Olivia took a hot second to settle down tonight."
Remus' heart began to race as Sirius stepped inside the kitchen. Did he seem hostile? Pissed off?
"Why didn't you call me?"
"Didn't want to interrupt your hangout."
"You could have."
"I'm not going to bother you when you are off duty. She isn't your responsibility."
Sirius frowned and leaned against the counter next to Remus.
"She is, as much as she is yours. You know that."
Remus smiled tiredly and rubbed his eyes. The truth was that he hadn't been sure if it was alright to call Sirius, after what happened. Maybe he needed some space....
"Next time."
Sirius smiled back.
For a bit they just stood there, looking at each other. But the silence wasn't weird. It was just still. Slowly, Remus' heartbeat slowed to a normal rythm. Maybe things were okay between them after all.
"We are quite convincing as a couple, apparently."
Remus raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"Are we?"
"Well James seems to be pretty convinced. And Lily thinks you have a good influence on me, whatever the fuck that's supposed to mean."
Remus chuckled, the last remedies of worry dissolved by the playful tone of Sirius' voice.
"I think you rather have a bad influence on me, if anything."
Sirius grinned.
"Yep, that's me. Sirius Bad-Influence Black."
"Is that hyphenated?"
"Of course, do you think I'm one of those bourgeois motherfuckers with two middle names?"
"You are a bourgeois motherfucker."
Sirius slapped his arm.
"Hey!"
Remus laughed, trying to catch Sirius' arm to avoid further battering.
Yes. Everything was alright.
"It's the truth though! You would be predestined for two middle names, if not three... Ow, stop... I'm sorry!"
Sirius had started playfully whacking at him with a kitchen towel and didn't stop, until Remus finally managed to pin down his arm. He had the strong feeling that Sirius very much let him. Otherwise he'd hardly have a chance.
They giggled, seemingly unable to stop, calming down a bit before breaking into laughter once more. Allthewhile Remus kept his hand tightly wrapped around Sirius' arm. He didn't want to let go. Not anymore.
Sirius suddenly slung his free arm loosley around Remus' neck.
"You know, I think we'd actually look good as a couple..."
"No way," Remus spluttered. Still giddy from their little play fight. His heart was hammering in his chest, for way better reasons now. "We would look so weird together. I mean I'm really not on your lev..."
Sirius freed his other arm and lightly squeezed Remus' cheeks between his index and thumb, moving his face closer to him.
"I told you to stop shit-talking yourself!"
"Stop me." Remus grinned, as much as Sirius' fingers allowed. Sirius glared.
Then he leaned in.
This time there was no pause, no chance for interruption.
Just soft lips pressing on his.
Remus had spent years during school - and some significant time during the past weeks - secretly imagining what Sirius' lips felt like. They always looked to perfectly plump and soft...Like rose petals.
Sirius didn't taste like rose petals though. He tasted like cigaretts and mint chewing gum and Remus wanted more.
When Sirius pulled back, he followed him without thinking, moving a hand into his neck to keep him close, to deepen the kiss.
Sirius didn't resist for a second, leaning back towards Remus, letting him slip his tounge between his lips, greeting it with his own.
Remus let out an awkward mewl at the sensation, completely overwhelmed by the tingles shooting through his entire body. He wrapped his arms around Sirius, almost desperately pulling him closer until their bodies were flush against each other.
Sirius' fingers raked through his hair against his scalp, sending positive shivers down Remus' spine.
When they broke apart for air, both panting, lips wet and cheeks flushed, they remained close. Unable, unwilling, to really let this be over.
"If you do this every time I talk badly of myself, I'm afraid it's not going to have the desired effect," Remus said quietly against Sirius' lips.
Sirius grinned, his eyes still fixated on Remus' mouth, his long lashes concealing his eyes from Remus' view.
"So you say I shouldn't do it again?"
Remus hummed.
"No, no that's not what I meant." He tried to catch Sirius' lips again but he pulled back out of his reach, trapping Remus' head between his hands.
"Then I'm gonna try a different approach: No kisses until you promise to stop!"
"That's not fair."
Sirius grinned.
"Promise!"
Remus stared at Sirius' lips. At the dark shadow of stubble over his top lip and on his chin. A bit on his cheeks. He ran his fingers over it, letting it scratch over his hands.
"Don't try to distract me, Lupin," Sirius murmured, but leaned a little into his palm. Remus couldn't surpress a grin and hooked his fingers under Sirius' chin to pull him down towards him.
"I promise," he whispered, knowing full well he wouldn't be able to keep it.
Their lips crashed back together and this time it was Sirius who sighed into the kiss.
Remus had no idea what on earth Sirius wanted with him, but he did not care. That wasn't his problem, wasn't it? If Sirius wanted to snog a guy way below his league, who was he to stop him.
The kiss deeped, tounges sliding over another again, while their hands aimlessly wandered over each others bodies. Sirius' lips left Remus' and brushed over his cheek, down to his neck. He pushed Remus back against the counter, his arms tightly wrapped around his waist as he licked and sucked on the sensitive skin right over his shoulder.
Remus gasped and buried his hand in Sirius' hair. He could feel his pants getting a little uncomfortable.
"Maybe...Maybe we should get out of the kitchen?"
Sirius lifted his head. Hair touseled and lips pink. God, he looked gorgeous.
"Yeah," he said with a raspy voice. "Sounds like a good idea."
**
There they were now, wrapped around each other closely in the small bed, relishing in the afterglow. Remus had buried his face into Sirius' neck, Sirius fingers were trailing trough his hair.
Remus was pretty sure that he'd never felt this good before. Comfortably exhausted, satisfied, safe and cozy in the arms of Sirius... It felt like a dream.
And he was about to drift off into one, when Sirius suddenly said something that ripped him right back into consciousness.
"You know, I had little a crush on you, back in 6th grade."
Remus slowly lifted his head, apparently looking so aghast that it made Sirius chuckle.
"What? Don't look at me like that!"
"You had a crush on me?"
Sirius shrugged and looked a little flustered.
"Well, what can I say. You looked kind of...good, with your prefect badge. And you were the only one who ever gave me assignments that didn't bore me to death during detentions. I did appreciate that."
"I wasn't even aware that you paid much attention to me."
"Of course I did! I had to! How else would we have snuck past you at night?"
Remus laughed. These fucking rascals.
"Well, you can't have paid that much attention. Otherwise you wouldn't have been so surprised when you found out I was a werewolf."
"I did have my suspicions, actually. But then Snape started telling everyone you were an evil monster. And I figured, since he was such an idiot, that he couldn't be right. So I discarded my theories before getting into it too much..."
"Excuses," Remus teased. "So...You did have a crush on me, huh?" He pulled Sirius tighter, pressing his face against his cheek.
"Yep. But I figured asking you out would be pointless since you never went out with anyone.
"I would have went out with you."
For a moment it was silent.
"You would have?"
Remus nodded. "Well, if you must know... I had a crush on you too."
"Bloody hell." Sirius sighed.
"Does James know?"
"Huh?"
"About your crush?"
"No. I thought he'd annoy me about it. And I was right! As we have seen the last few weeks!"
They both giggled.
Sirius snuggled a little tighter.
"Remus?"
"Hmmm?"
"Would you still go out with me?"
What a stupid question.

𝙷𝚎𝚛 𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚝𝚕𝚎 𝚜𝚎𝚌𝚛𝚎𝚝 | 𝙲𝚎𝚍𝚛𝚒𝚌 𝚍𝚒𝚐𝚐𝚘𝚛𝚢 𝚡 𝙼𝚎𝚛𝚖𝚊𝚒𝚍! 𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚛;𝙵𝚝.𝙳𝚛𝚊𝚛𝚛𝚢
Pairing: Cedric diggory x fem! Mermaid reader and Harry x Draco and professor's Remus Lupin x professor Sirius Black!
Didn't really plan on making it this long but—
CEDRIC LIVES! (I CAN'T BELIEVE I WROTE A FIC THIS LONG!! WHAAAT? —also please like and reblog🥺 I worked really hard on this fic) ❤💛💙💚
“But—professor if you already knew about then why call me, now? Why not before?” You asked, patting the fawkes on his head, gently. As it sat on your lap. Professor Dumbledore peered at you with his half moon glasses.
“Because we need you're help—now” You were surprised when he said, why in the world anyone would need you're help? “I'm sorry—professor, I don't quite understand, what you're saying”
Professor McGonagall entered the room and sat by the nearest couch.“No one knows the black lake better than you do, Y/N. That's why we need you're help” Professor McGonagall said.
“what is this about professor?” you asked, curiously. None of this make sense at all. “The second task, Y/N. It's in the Blake lake. We're going to take who is more important to our champion's and put them under the Blake lake, with a very powerful incantation. And the champions has to rescue them before 1 hour passes” professor McGonagall explained, you carefully listened to everyword she spoke.
“Wait—what? Er,you mean the task is in the black lake!?” she nodded her head, you shook you're head violently. “No—professor! This is a bad idea! If anything happens—then everything will go wrong, I can't—I'm so sorry, professor”
“Y/N, I believe you made a few friends in the black lake?” you nodded, “only a few—you have no idea what kind creatures lies in those water, professor. You're risking lives!!!” you said, you're patience wearing thin.
“I know—I know, you know the underworld better and this is where we need you're help, alright. You're job is to look after the champions, just making sure they don't get any injured—you're not allowed to help them but only make sure they make it out, alive”
“Make it out, Alive?” you sighed, heavily. You don't want anyone to get hurt, Not Harry, Not cedric, No one! “Alright, I'll do it—it's not like I don't want them to get hurt—I'll do everything in will, to protect them” with a heavy heart you agreed, at least for the sake of Harry.
Ever since his name came out of the goblet, he isn't himself. His boyfriend, Draco is doing his best to cheer him up. You felt the urge to protect the kid, from anything. He, of course is like a little brother to you.
“well, that's settled then” clapped professor Dumbledore. Professor McGonagall stood up from her seat, gesturing you to come along with her. “professor, you do realize what you're doing is not okay, right?” You asked, as both of you exited dumbledore's room.
“I know, Y/N. It's not in my hands to stop, now isn't it?—don't give it a much thought,alright? You'll be fine, don't worry”she said, giving you one last hug before leaving you alone.
Sighing you skipped down the Hallway, when you heard familiar laughs coming from the classroom. You turned around and decided to go in. “No—Sirius! Stop!! I can't brea—Ah, Y/N.” remus said, Sirius stopped tickling him.
“Hi, Y/N.Out for a walk, eh?” Sirius asked, settling down on the chair next to remus. “No, professor—I just talked with professor McGonagall and professor Dumbledore” they looked at each other, before looking at you with a confused face. “About the second task” their faces turned serious when you mentioned the task. You took a seat on one of the benches, Sirius looked at you intently. “Did Harry figured out about the egg, professor?”
“No, Y/N. He still didn't, says it makes a horrible noise whenever he opens it” Remus said. “The Blake lake” you glanced at both of them. “The second task”.sirius looked frightened, scared for his godson. Remus had a horrified look on his face. “That's what they said—I was planning on telling, Harry but since he hasn't figured out about the egg. I'm not going to—”
“It's okay, Y/N. There's nothing we can do, can we?” Said, Sirius. You shook you're head in pity. “what were they even thinking, Remus? They're going to kill these children with these kind of dangerous tasks”
“but—what does have anything to do with you, Y/N”
“You'll see professor, it's not for me to tell you—but you'll see. Please not worry, I'll do everything—anything to protect him. I give you my word” you were not kidding, when you said that. In fact, you meant every word in that.
You stood up, wanting time for you're own thoughts, “I'll take my leave, professor's and please don't tell anyone about this” they nodded slowly. You went outside.
Straight to the Blake lake, you stared at the water, intensely. Slowly loosening the tie around you're neck, you took of you're robes and jumped in the lake. In blink of eye, you're tail appeared with a huge splash, you dove in.
“Moony, I'm so scared—what if? What if something happens to him in the lake? It's too dangerous, Remus”
“I know, Love. But we can't do anything— remember what Y/N said, this has to do something with her. Trust me, she's an amazing witch I've seen—she gave us her word, I can see she meant it” Remus spoke softly, taking in sirius hand slowly rubbing it gently on his tender skin. Placing a soft kiss on his forehead.
“I just hope you're right, moony”
“But—I'm always right!?”
»»——⍟——««
The following week went by, swiftly. You became close with the members. Especially Cedric. At first you just thought he was a show off because of his fanclub but he was genuinely nice.
Fleur... Well, she's great. Such a sweet person. Sometimes you get confused when she speak but she's cool.
Krum.. Well, you only managed to speak with him few times and... Yeah, he's not much of a talker.
Harry, you adore this kid. You knew him since first year, he's you're friend and obviously Draco too. They're such a cute couple, you absolutely love of those kids.
“Hey, Harry! Draco” You sat next to them, Harry smiled at you gracefully. “Hey, Y/N, morning” said, Draco. Despite, the fact that he's a Slytherin. Ever since Harry and him started dating, Draco spent most of the time with you guys.
“so, Harry. Did you figured out about the egg, yet?” He nodded.
“I did, Cedric gave me a clue though —wouldn't have done it without him” Harry spoke quietly. You remembered the night, the little adventure you guys did, or so it seemed like, in the prefects bathroom.
“Come on, Ced!” You giggled, dragging cedric with you towards the prefects bathroom. You're footsteps echoed through the wide hall. “Y/N!! Slow down!” He laughed at you're excitement. “Oh, My snail walks faster than you” the moon was shining, bright. You felt wide awake just as the moon itself.
You said as you both came across the statue of Boris the Bewildered. You stood by the door and whispered the password “pine fresh”
The door creak sound echoed, meaning the door opened. Pushing the door, you ushered cedric to move along.
It was softly lit by a splendid candle-filled chandelier, and everything was made of white marble, including what looked like an empty, rectangular swimming pool sunk into the middle of the floor.
About a hundred golden taps stood all around the pool’s edges, each with a differ- ently colored jewel set into its handle. There was also a diving board. Long white linen curtains hung at the windows.
A large pile of fluffy white towels sat in a corner, and there was a single golden framed painting on the wall. It featured a blonde mermaid who was fast asleep on a rock, her long hair over her face. It fluttered every time she snored.
“Y/N, what are we doing here? I'm a prefect, myself. You know I can report you, right?” he said, teasingly. You rolled you're eyes, playfully. “Not if I told you, I know how to figure out the egg, right? ” his eyes widened.
“go ahead, ced—report me” you grinned, devilishly. “no, you don't!” you looked at him, dead in the eye and said “Try me” before walking towards the pool and slowly took off the shirt, exposing the skin underneath.
“Y/N—you do realize I'm right here, right?” Cedric blushing madly. You stood there, in your bra and shorts on. Giving him a 'really?' Look. “I'm aware” you said, bending slightly pulling your shorts down slowly.
Cedric stood there awkwardly, looking at everywhere but you. You turned around placing your hands on you're hips. “You're not really planning on taking a bath with clothes on or, Are you?”
He shook his head, with his cheeks dusted with crimson colour. Without any further a do, you jumped into then pool and splashed water on him. “Hey!” He scowled lightly. “hEy” you said in mocking tone.
“Haha—very funny, Y/N” he said, you're getting impatient “don't just stand there,you daft–bimbo! Get in” he rolled his eyes before started taking of clothes his own. You swam around, making sure you didn't make such a mess.
You're hair slowly, turning into (F/C) color. As you're tail slowly, came into the view, “if you do—Y/N!! You—what?” you giggled softly, turning around to face him. You're skin,looked little paler than before.
You batted you're eyelashes playfully at him, looking at his shocked face with you're (F/C) eyes. “Like what you see, cedric?” you said, teasingly smiling at him sheepishly. The whole school is going to see you in you're mermaid form when the task day comes.
His gaze still lingered on you're lower body. You stretched out your hand, asking him to take it. When he touched it, you pulled him into the water. Laughing hysterically. “Gotcha”
He got up, and glared at you. Whistle you were still laughing at his face. “You better stop laughing, L/N” he said, watching you laugh at him. “Or what you gonna do?” you asked moving a little bit closer than you guys were already there.
“You might not it, L/N” He only called you, L/N when he's being serious. You, however find it very hot. He was only a few inches away from you. His few drops were dripping from his hair, “Oh, I think I might”
His eyes flickered down to you're lips and then your eyes. with any warning, he smashed his lips against yours, you immediately kissed him back, wrapping you're arms around his neck, smiling into the kiss.
You are absolutely smitten for this boy, it's been only few days but you felt like you know him from years. You're relationship with him.. Is magical.
“didn't think that would happen” He spoke breaking the kiss, as both of you ran out if breath. “did you?” you grinned, kissing him,again. After you're make out session.
“you were born with this?” He asked, you nodded shrugging. “A half—mermaid” You laughed a little playing with the bubbles. “I was born this way, I can change my appearance, at will”
“Kind of, messed up, isn't it?” You asked, blowing the bubbles. He shook his head, “I think you're pretty amazing and you're beautiful no matter what you are—human or—mermaid”
You faced him “Really?” Looked at him shocked. All you're life, you thought you were just—
“yes, you shouldn't talk about yourself like that Y/N—” He wrapped his arm around your shoulders, you rested on him. “It isn't always our choices, for everything we got. I love you and you also should love yourself” he placed a kiss on your temples.
You never felt so safe and this secured before. Does he truly care about you?
“So, how does this work?” He asked, holding the egg in his hands. “put it under the water” He did what you said, luckily this time it didn't scream. “Now wh—” you pushed his head under the water, along with you.
“Come seek us where our voices sound,
We cannot sing above the ground,
And while you’re searching ponder this:
We’ve taken what you’ll sorely miss,
An hour long you’ll have to look,
And to recover what we took,
But past an hour — the prospect’s black,
Too late, it’s gone, it won’t come back.”
You laughed as cedric took deep breaths. Then he turned to you “what does that supposed to mean?”
“Am I going crazy or —is Diggory seriously staring at our Y/N?” Draco asked, narrowing his eyes over the Hufflepuff.
Hermione who also noticed the famous Hufflepuff staring at you, laughed. Ron just rolled his eyes, went back to eating his food. You were too busy talking with Harry, you didn't notice.
Draco knows what you guys were talking about so he didn't bother asking, he trusts you. Were like his big sister, for both of them. These two were also very overprotective for you. Says they don't want to get you, heartbroken.
“Y/N!! I keep telling Draco—I don't dance and he says He'll teach me!” said, Harry Irritatedly. You laughed. “I will teach you!!!”
“No!!!” Harry dramatically whines. You glanced at hermione who's biting her lip to control her laughter, once you're eyes met both of you burst into laughter. “come on, Harry—I mean how bad could you be at dancing,hm?”
“You have no idea, Y/N. Last night , we practiced the dance together because he wants to impress our little ferret here. In conclusion, he suck at dancing” Ron exclaimed, following with a heavy sigh.
Draco pouted looking at Harry, omg he's so cute. “For me? Pretty please?”
“Stop! No not those eyes—draco!! Fine” Harry reluctantly, agreed. Who can say no this little cutie here, eh? The lot of you, continued eating, talking and lots of giggles from you, Hermione and Draco, though.
“Okay, alright—Let's talk about Y/N, here” Draco hushed them all, you laughed a little“what about me, dray?” you asked, confused. “Any reason, why diggory can't take his eyes of you?”
“what are you talking about, Draco—I don't, I don't understand?” you said, dryly.
“professor—you don't understand! If cedric really cares about me, then—I—how am I supposed watch over the others?” You panicked, looking at professor McGonagall. “I shall talk to professor Dumbledore about this situation, Y/N—don't worry”
“what about cho? She's close to him. She's his best friend!”

The yule ball came, quickly. Cedric asked you to the ball which you gladly said yes, for. The night took it's toll. Professor McGonagall and professor sprout were standing behind you as you stood in front of the mirror. Looking at you're reflection.
“professor i—don't think I can do this!” you said, nervously. “Nonsense dear, you look amazing” professor sprout said, professor Lupin came into the room. “Professor McGonagall they—need you in the great hall”
Professor McGonagall nodded before leaving, you were standing in her room for Merlin's sake.she always looked after, as if you're her own but you never understood why? Nevertheless you were glad to have her. You were grown, alone. Having her always made you feel,happier. Professor sirius I mean black—peeked into the room. “Oh my—Y/N you look splendid!”
“Really?”
“Yes, Y/N—”
“professor McGonagall chose this dress, for me”
“Minnie, did a great job then!” Remus smacked sirius head, you giggled at you're professor's. You were always close to almost every teacher, except snape. You never understood why he's always so cold?
“The real talk is about you professor's!” you said, grinning. “You two look wonderful, rather very charming” You said, teasingly. Remus let out a laugh. Sirius flipped his hair “You can say it, Y/N—you're astronomy teacher looks better than DADA teacher”
“Enough! With the chitchat! Time for the ball, Let's go” said, professor sprout. “chop chop” The entrance hall was packed with students too, all milling around waiting for eight o’clock, when the doors to the Great Hall would be thrown open.
Those people who were meeting partners from different Houses were edging through the crowd trying to find one another. You slowly made you're way towards the stairs. You took a deep breath, trying to calm yourself.
“well, don't you look—magnificent” you heard a familiar voice behind you, smiling you turned around. “Thank you, Freddie” he smiled along with his twin. “Seriously, Y/N. You look amazing—now I regret not asking you to the ball” said, George.
You giggled, “You alright?” Fred asked you, you looked at him, nodding. “Just..... Nervous” They smiled, softly. “There's no need to be—Diggory's got the most amazing girl” Fred kissed you're forehead.
“come on, we'll escort you to you're date” George offered his hand. You neatly tucked in you're arms linking with both of them, Fred to your right and George to you're left.
At the entrance of the hall, you found cedric standing nervously. Beside of Draco and Harry who couldn't wipe the grins of their faces. You have to admit it—they're such a cute couple.
Harry nudged the older's side, cedric finally lifted his head up. And his eyes met yours. His jaw almost dropped at how beautiful—gorgeous you looked. Harry and Draco smiled greatly at their friend. You we're striking down with the twins elegantly,arms linked with yours. He swore he never seen someone so breath-taking.
Carefully, step by step the twins helped you walk down because it's a little bit hard walking with such a pretty dress and heels. And they led you to Cedric “Hi” You said, anxiously. “Hey... —you look angelic”
“And you better take good care of this Angel, mate” Fred slowly pulled away his arm. Angelina came towards Fred smiling happily. “Don't want any broken bones now, do we?” George winked, as they head off.
“Mischievous one's, aren't they” He laughed, you turned to Harry who was smiling at something Draco said. “Harry!” You hugged him,“Hey Y/N” He hugged you back. “My little prince Charming is looking good in his suite” you ruffled his hair.
“I'm here too, you know” Draco rolled his eyes, it's clear he's jealous. “Aww, c'mere” You hugged him, softly pecked his cheek. “you're so cute, when you're jealous did you know that? No wonder Harry likes you so much” you pinched his cheeks. “Are you boys, ready? I wanna see my favorite couple rocking the floor” you said, feeling more confident than you did before you got here.
Cedric laughed, as if you said something silly. “well we d—” Professor McGonagall’s voice called, “Champions over here, please!” “I'm so not ready—let's do this” said, Draco. You giggled softly.
Professor McGonagall, who was wearing dress robes of red tartan and had arranged a rather ugly wreath of thistles around the brim of her hat, told you guys to wait on one side of the doors while everyone else went inside.
they were to enter the Great Hall in procession when the rest of the students had sat down. The doors were closed. “Ced—Cedric stop! Stop staring at me like that” you said, blushing. He smiled, like he's achieved something great. But he was genuinely liked you for real.
“You look marvelous, did you know that?”
“Oh my god” you covered you're crimson face, with your hands. “do I have to dance?” whined, Harry. Draco rolled his eyes at his boyfriend. “come on, Harry! You'll be fine! Just look at me, only!”
Once everyone else was settled in the Hall, Professor McGonagall told the all of you to get in line in pairs and to follow her. You've done what you've been told and everyone in the Great Hall applauded as all of you entered and started walking up toward a large round table at the top of the Hall, where the judges were sitting.
The walls of the Hall had all been covered in sparkling silver frost, with hundreds of garlands of mistletoe and ivy crossing the starry black ceiling.
The House tables had vanished; instead, there were about a hundred smaller, lantern-lit ones, each seating about a dozen people.
The light music echoed, alarming it's time for dance. Cedric gently placed his hand on your small waist, taking your hand in his. In the corner of your eye, you saw Harry and Draco who were grinning like idiots.
“I like this” you said, staring into his eyes. “I like being with you” you said, making it a little bit clearer. His face soften at you're words. “Thank you”
“For what?”
“For making me feel this way” you said, placing your head on his chest, listening his heart beat as you guys continued dancing slowly. “it's too early, I know—but I love you” said, Cedric as his grip tightened. You lifted you're head looking at him, shooked. More people joined the dance.
“you mean that?” He nodded, “I know it might seem like a joke—but I'm being serious” He said, sincerely. You waited for him to say ‘I'm kidding’ or ‘sike’ but nothing came.
You pulled away you're arms, quickly wrapped them around him, pulling him into a tight hug as if you're life depends on it. “don't leave me”
“I'm not planning on it, darling”
Both of you continued dancing for the next few minutes, till you saw professor Lupin and Professor black sitting on one of the chairs. “I'll be back” you said, hurrying over to the couple.
“Hello, Y/N—having fun?” Remus asked, generously. You nodded “Clearly, you're not! Come on professor” You extended you're hand. “professor black!” you gestured towards the dance floor. Sirius took you're right hand, and stood up.
“Don't be a part pooper,Remus! Get up” said, sirius. You laughed “Don't want to keep you're boyfriend hanging professor, come on—look even Harry's dancing!” Remus finally gave in and stood up.
You led both of them, next to Harry and Draco. “You better not step on my toes, black” threatened, Remus. Sirius chuckled. “Since when did I ever step on you're toes, moony”
Remus rolled his eyes at his boyfriend, playfully. “I see what you did here” Cedric whispered in you're ear, you shrieked. Slapped on his chest, lightly.
“C'mon, Love!” He dragged you away from the couple so they could have some privacy. On you're way you saw Dean and seamus. Dean looked so done with his Boyfriend.
Seamus caught your eye and waved, Dean then followed his eye and quickly waved when he saw you, you waved back smiling. “Having fun?”
“Not much fun but since I'm with him, you know I can say a little bit fun” said, Dean boringly.
You leaned forward and so only they could hear“I overheard professor Dumbledore talking about the weird sister's performance here, now. Get ready, shit's about get wild”
Seamus cheered loudly but dean shushed him off. You winked at them, walked away with Cedric. “we'll sit down for a bit! I know you want to dance for weird sisters music”
You grinned, he's just caring for you. The two of you talked for a while until Dumbledore stood up
and asked the students to do the same. Then, with a wave of his wand, all the tables zoomed back along the walls leaving the floor clear, and then he conjured a raised platform into existence along the right wall. A set of drums, several guitars, a lute, a cello, and some bagpipes were set upon it.
The Weird Sisters now trooped up onto the stage to wildly enthusiastic applause; they were all extremely hairy and dressed in black robes that had been artfully ripped and torn. They picked up their instruments.
“C'mon ced! Let's go!! It's the weird sister's!!” you clearly forgot you're wearing heels and decided it was the great idea to run and almost fell, Cedric was quick enough to catch you just in time. “Easy there, love”
The crowd danced wildly, you laughed loudly as you're hair dances behind you. Dumbledore was waltzing with Madame Maxime.
He was so dwarfed by her that the top of his pointed hat barely tickled her chin; however, she moved very gracefully for a woman so large. Mad-Eye Moody was doing an extremely ungainly two-step with Professor Sinistra, who was nervously avoiding his wooden leg.
“HEY Y/N!!!” Harry yelled, getting a glimpse of you dancing in the crowd with Cedric by you're side. “ALRIGHT THERE, 'ARRY?”
“I THINK DRACO IS GONE MENTAL”
“IT'S JUST THE MUSIC!! LET IT FLOW!!”
The Weird Sisters stopped playing, applause filled the hall once More. And another song, started playing but this time it's faster. You came across Fred and Angelina, who were dancing so exhuberantly that people around them were backing away in fear of injury.
You pulled Cedric by his tie so he can leaned down “like I said Shit's gone wild” You yelled in his ear, causing him to grin. “Of course”
By the time songs ended, you were exhausted. Cedric noticed this and slowly led you out of the crowd so you can have some breath. You're face turned red and sweaty from all the dancing. “well, that was fun” Said, Draco from behind.
You noticed the couple walking towards the chairs beside you. “I wish this night was longer” you breathed, Cedric looked at you confused “why?”

Before you know it, the day finally came. The second task is today. The entrance hall contained a few last-minute stragglers, all Leaving the Great Hall after breakfast and heading through the double oak doors to watch the second task.
All the students made their way to the Blake lake, as awaits the boats to take them to the stands. Almost everyone left, You walked with Harry by your side. “Alright there, Harry?” he nodded. “You?” you shook you're head. Sirius had his arm on Harry's shoulder and Remus was walking along side with him.
“All my life I only hid my secret... Away from this world. And now—I just. Don't know” He nodded understanding. The night on the yule ball day you told Harry and Draco about what's going to happen.
“I hope Draco is alright, can't find mione either” Harry says, disappointed. “They were held as hostages, Harry. Last night I went in there, to look—took permission from professor Dumbledore”You said, kicking the small pebble. Remus and Sirius looked at you with widened eyes.
The four of you reached the dock, Harry, Remus and Sirius got inside. Remus extend his hand for you to take and get in. You shook you're head, while laughing.
“She doesn't need a boat, Remus” said, Harry smiling. You winked at him. “You guys go ahead” They nodded, paddling the boat. You watched them go a little bit furthermore.
Sighing you took off you're clothes and started sprinting down the dock, then jumped into the cold water.
“Miss Y/L/N? Miss Y/L/N? Are you here?” professor Dumbledore called out, no one responded. The students looked quite confused why professor Dumbledore is looking for you. Cedric eyes searched around, but couldn't find you.
Suddenly, you're head popped up from the water. Professor Dumbledore let out a relief sigh. As students gasped. “can't get rid of me that easily, professor” He laughed. To others you looked like a complete different person but with same face.
Lugo bagman stood up pointed his wand at his throat as he had done at the World Cup, said, “Sonorus!” and his voice boomed out across the dark water toward the stands.
“Well, all our champions are ready for the second task, which will start on my whistle. They have precisely an hour to recover what has been taken from them. On the count of three, then. One . . . two . . three!”
The whistle echoed shrilly in the cold, still air; the stands erupted with cheers and applause; without looking to see what the other champions were doing, Harry pulled off his shoes and socks, pulled the handful of gillyweed out of his pocket, stuffed it into his mouth, and waded out into the lake.
You waited patiently for professor dumbledore to give the signal. You were used to this cold temperature but you don't know long they can be in their. “Miss Y/L/N, here is going to look after our beloved champion's since she knows the underworld better and has known for year's—I must warn you, better not make any remarks about Miss Y/L/N or—we'll be have to make sure, none of you does it, again”
“Wicked” said, the twins at the same time. “GO! Y/N!” Cheered Ron, loudly among the students. You waved at him. He grinned
“Miss Y/L/N—it's time”
“wait! —” said professor black. Sirius walked over to the edge of the stand and leaned forward you swam a little bit further so he could speak with you.
“Please, look after my godson Y/N. I'm counting on you” he said desperately. “Please not worry, professor. I'll protect him no matter what—I promise”
You turned around and dove in, making you're tail splash huge mount of water.
You swam as fast as you could—there's no sign of anyone. You came across forests of rippling, tangled black weed, wide plains of mud littered with dull, glimmering stones.
You swam deeper, hoping you could find any of the champions. Then you caught a glimpse of Harry, He got his wand out of pocket and used a spell on the grindylow.
You sighed in relief but immediately panicked when you saw more grindylow's surrounding Harry. You swam, faster and then you hit few of them with you're tail. Then used you're hands to make bubble boost making knocking them unconscious.
“Harry!” you hugged him, “Are you okay? Are you hurt?” you're eyes scanned him for injuries. He has few scratches on his legs, “Y/N! Please I'm fine” He said, swimming away. You watched him leave, well at least he must've known what he's doing.
You turned around and swam further searching for other champions, your hair flowing behind you. The deeper you went the more eerily the surroundings got. Some things wrong, you can feel it.
You were about to turn around until you heard something coming from the deep, dark green weeds. You know it's dangerous, even for you. But you went in. What if someone got stuck?
You're eyes widened, it's fleur she's got struck in between the weeds and few grindylow's were attacking her. You kicked away few of them but many more are coming. You have to get her out of here. You used bubble blast, again but there's too many of them.
You managed to get them off Fleur, she's crying in pain you can tell. The problem in being water is—no one can understand you're pain, you can't feel the tears. You made a huge wave, and sending it straight towards them.
Knocking them off, “Fleur? Fleur!” you called out but she doesn't seem alright. You held her tightly and swam towards the stands very fastly. It hurts a little bit, putting too much pressure but you didn't care.
All you cared is about saving her. The crowd waited anxiously for someone to arrive, You're head hit the surface.You swam toward the deck “Professor!!!” you called out for help. Professor McGonagall who is closer to the deck, came in to give a hand. Madam maxime gasped “Fleur!” she looked horrified.
“She's unconscious! Help her—I have to go back” You quickly spoke to Professor Dumbledore, beside stood professor Lupin and professor black worriedly.
You know the exact location where the hostages were held, you're sure the champions must've found them by now.
When you got there, Harry was surrounded by the merpeople, a spike was held near neck as he was floating near Hermione. You angrily swam, towards them. “Get back!!!”
Of course they know you, you came in here more than twice, every week. You went in front of Harry, protectively helding him back.
“You take your own hostage,” one of them said to him. “Leave the others . . .”
“No way!” said Harry furiously — but only two large bubbles came out.
“Your task is to retrieve your own friend . . . leave the others . . .”
Harry shook his head, furiously. “Harry! Take Draco and leave—she's krums hostage” you said, calmly. “please”
He sighed in defeat. You turned around when you saw Cedric swimming towards you. He pointed towards the watch, the time is almost finished. He cut cho free.
“Is krum coming?” you asked, he nodded. “Go” He swam away, with cho in his arms. Even though you know she's his friend you can't help but feel jealous a little bit but you trust him.
a human body in swimming trunks with the head of a shark. . . . It was Krum. He appeared to have transfigured himself — but badly.
The shark-man swam straight to Hermione and began snapping and biting at her ropes; the trouble was that Krum’s new teeth were positioned very awkwardly for biting anything smaller than a dolphin, and Harry was quite sure that if Krum wasn’t careful, he was going to rip Hermione in half.
Darting forward, Harry hit Krum hard on the shoulder and held up the jagged stone. Krum seized it and began to cut Hermione free. Within seconds, he had done it; he grabbed Hermione around the waist, and without a backward glance, began to rise rapidly with her toward the surface.
You smiled proudly at Harry's actions. He could've just taken Draco and leave but he wanted to make sure his friends were alright.
He turned to you. “Fleur didn't make it, Harry” you said, worriedly. Her sister... If Fleur didn't rescue her and then—she's gone?
His eyes widened, Harry tried to speak but only bubbles came out his mouth. “if we don't rescue her now and then she's lost to us”
He looked around, the merpeople isn't anywhere near you two. “I'll take care of them, you go” he nodded in agreement. Harry darted forward and began to hack at the ropes binding the small girl to the statue, and at last she was free.
He seized the little girl around the waist, grabbed the neck of draco's robes, and kicked off from the bottom.
You were too busy, dealing with the merpeople you didn't notice some of them slipping past and went towards Harry. “Argh!” you winced when the spear peered you're skin on lightly.
Over the surface;on the stands Cedric was facing back and forth. The time is almost over and Both Harry and you didn't return. He knows something gone wrong. “I'm going in” said, Cedric removing the towel that was wrapped around his muscled body.
“Mr.Diggory—it's against the rules, you're not allowed to go in” Cedric let out a frustrated growl.
No matter how many you fought, it seems they keep coming. Finally, you looked at Harry. His flippers were gone, he was struggling to swim with Draco and Fleur's sister.
Harry no longer can breathe oxygen, with all the strength left he pushed Draco and Fleur's sister towards the surface. The merpeople surrounded him. “Harry!!” You kicked away, the merman and swam towards him quickly. You glanced at the surface, Draco and Fleur's sister are safe. Draco helped Gabrielle swim towards the stands.
You caught him, but suddenly, a grindylow came out of nowhere and gripped on you're tail. You yelped. Using the strength left in you're hands, you blasted away the grindylow. You guys were few feet away from the surface.
You pushed Harry towards the surface and then sent a wave with you're tail causing him to break into the surface. You felt enormously relieved.
Harry breathed heavily as he reached the surface. He swam towards the stands. And was immediately wrapped up in towel. “Oh, Harry! Finally!” Draco kissed his head, hugging him tightly.
Cedric made his way to Harry. “Ha—Harry where's Y/N?” He asked, worriedly. “she's—still inside, i—” He was cut off when Sirius walked over and hugged him tightly. “she saved me” he finished taking in deep breathes. Everyone looked at the water worriedly.
You got away and popped up into the surface, right in front of the docks. Professor Lupin helped you get up on the stands, you were still in you're mermaid form. You breathed heavily, you laid on the deck. Cedric walked over to you, taking you in his arms protectively. He wrapped his towel around you.
You're eyes shot up, “Harry!” you searched around, he over to you with Draco by his side. “I'm here, Y/N” He smiled, “thank god” you breathed out. “No, thanks to you” said, Draco gracefully.
You laughed, leaning back onto Cedric's chest. He placed a kiss on your temple. “You got me so worried, Y/N” you smiled. “I couldn't be more thankful to you Y/N, for what you did! I owe you” Draco hugged you.
You stretched out you're left arm, motioning Harry to hug you. He smiled, and joined you three. “Thank you, Y/N” Draco said, again. You just saved his life (his and his life? Harry is his life so his life, I say).
He pecked you're cheek, just like you do for him. You didn't stand up, because of you're tail. And you don't want to shift back because.... You're clothes?
Harry pecked your other cheek, causing you to giggle. The others seemed to be in aww at you're interactions with the boys. Fleur walked over to you guys. “You saved me, thank you, Y/N. Harry thank you for saving my sister even though she's not yours”
“well, I have loads of help” he said turning to you. You giggled hugging him, Draco smiled widely. “And you—you helped her” she said turning to Draco, he might have helped her sister swim “Ah, yes a little bit” she kissed his forehead “thank you” she left went back to her sister.
Draco turned to you guys with a weird expression“didn't expect that”.
“I could never thank you enough for what you did today, Y/N. No matter how many times I say it, it wouldn't be enough” said, Sirius seriously.
“thank you for keeping you're promise, Y/N” said Remus sincerely. Harry looked shocked “You promised them? To keep me, safe?” you nodded. “I didn't save you just because I promised them, Harry. I saved you because you're my friend—a brother—a family—I love all of you” you said looking at Cedric, Harry, Draco, Hermione, and ron who stood by her side then Sirius and Remus. You smiled widely.
“A hug?” you asked, sheepishly knowing you'll be crushed the next second. Every one hugged you. You felt tears glistening in your eyes. You may not have grown up with love and affection in you're life before you got into hogwarts.
But you never felt so loved before. “come on, Y/N. Let's get you dressed” said, Cedric and tried to pick you up, but you slipped out, “Nah-huh I'll meet you at the land” you said, jumping in the water purposely splashing water on everyone.
“Y/N!!!!”
“IT'S SO COLD!! HARRY I'M SO COLD”you heard draco's voice, saying dramatically. “I only think you're hot, draco” “THIS IS NOT TIME FOR FLIRTING!”

Few years later;
“I can't believe this is happening” you said, trying so hard not to cry. It's you're graduation and now you know it's time to say goodbye to the place you called home for years.
“Yeah,I'm gonna miss this place” Said, Cedric looking at the fountain in the courtyard. “I'm gonna miss everyone” you said, as a tear fell from your eyes. “me too—gonna miss the adventures that and competition's which nearly killed us” He wrapped his arm around you.
“Remember how we met? I was assigned to watch over you guys” you said, recalling the memory. “I do”
“and I'll never forget it”
“So, now what do we do?”
“I'll be in training to become an Auror”
“I know” “I love you” “I love you too”
“Y/N!! Y/N!!!” you looked up and saw Harry and Draco running towards you. You smiled at them, over the years they've grown up so much.
You still remember the greesy haired Draco and messy raven Harry like it was yesterday. “Hey boys” you said, blinking off the tears. “we know it's you're last day at hogwarts” said Harry hiding something behind him.
“So—we got you a present” beamed Draco. “Aww, you know you guys don't have to” you smiled at the younger. “don't be so nice, Y/N—you're gonna love it”
He showed you the present—“is that a pygmy puff?” you gasped, “oh my god, it's so cute” you squealed. “yep, got one from the joke shop—Fred and george gave us this for free” said Harry
“when we said it was a gift for you, of course” Draco laughed. You took the small pink fluff ball into you're hands, you almost melted at how soft it was.
You handed the pygmy puff to Cedric, he gently held it in his palms, it looked so small in his hands🥺 You hugged Harry and Draco tightly.
You'll miss these boys, the most. “I'll miss you two, so much” you said, through tears. “us too, Y/N—don't worry! We'll graduate before you know it and then visit you whenever we want” beamed Harry.
You laughed, “Of course! Anytime you want, doesn't matter” Draco bought up his sleeve and wiped off you're tears.
“We'll see you soon, Y/N”

“NO! WE'RE GOING TO MY USE MY LAST NAME!”
“NO!! WE'RE GOING USE MY LAST NAME”
“WHat is going on?” you heard familiar voices, turning around stood there Fred, george and Your husband, Cedric in their suits. You let out a frustrated sigh. “They're arguing over who's last name they're going to use”
“Are you kidding? The wedding's in 5 minutes” said, Cedric checking his watch.
“Now they're arguing??” Asked, Fred who looked so done with the engaged couple.
Hermione groaned loudly, “Come on guys, let's go it's time”
You laughed at them, none of them really changed. Same kids from school, it's a good thing though.

Remus Lupin dating a hufflepuff would include...
Remus lupin x hufflepuff!reader, the marauders x platonic reader
Word count: 2.2k
Warnings: no smut but talk of sexy times (sfw)
A/N: I'm back, babey! Recently took a smol hiatus but I'm back and better than ever. Here are some headcanons of what life would be like dating young Remus Lupin as a hufflepuff; I might do something similar with the different houses and the other marauders, but idk yet. As per usual, if you want a request then by all means shoot me a message! I write for the umbrella academy, marvel and Harry Potter so feel free to request anything :)) - Aphrodite
(Also I'm sorry I didn't spell check this, please forgive me)
• Every moment between you two was adorable!
• Being the semi-traditionalists that you were, it was a mutual agreement to take things slow and steady. But Remus was so infatuated with you - and you with him - that neither could deny the ever growing spark you shared.
• He'd always invite you on study dates in the library every Saturday, but most of the time it was just an excuse to see more of you.
• You'd always bring along a snack from the kitchens to the library, a different pastry or bake every week.
• "Guess who brought muffins!!!"
• When you aren't looking, he likes to leave cute messages on post it notes and hide them in your bag or throughout your books.
• "The only thing sweeter than those muffins is you, my love"
• You totally know when he does it, you've caught him a few times.
• However, you like to return the favour.
• "Maybe next time we 'study', you can let me Slytherin to your arms for cuddles"
• He loves the puns you make. Despite always being followed by an eye roll, he really does love them.
• He keeps all his notes from you in his bedside table and will read them after a particularly rough full moon 🥺
• Obviously, Remus was terrified to tell you his secret, but it went less dramatically than he thought it would.
• When you acted so truly selfless and reassured him that you'd be there for him no matter what, it really made him tear up. You promised to always be there after every full moon.
• You two can always be found cuddling in the gryffindor dormitories, 24/7.
• When you have a free period or a day free from studying, Remus will sneak you past the common room and into the dorms, where you'll just lay in his bed. All day.
• He's definitely the big spoon, he loves to hold you as tight as he can. But sometimes you'll lay your head on his chest, facing the ceiling, and he'll run his fingers through your hair.
• The boy is a human radiator, so you could practically hug him and his warmth all day long.
• One time you slept over with the rest of the marauders, and upon waking up, realised you had started your period. On Remus's sheets.
• "Hey, it's alright. I know this stuff happens, let's get you cleaned up."
• He was so mature about it all that you probably fell in love there and then.
• While you had a shower and changed the sheets, he went to Hogsmeade with James to get you some pads and snacks.
• Not needing a heating pad because he's just so damn warm gosh darn it
• While you and Remus were growing closer, you had an unexpected friendship with Sirius.
• I say unexpected, as when you first met you were positive he'd be trouble.
• "Moony, you never told me you were dating a hufflepuff! What a cute little cupcake she is." (Delivered with a wink)
• Let's just say, you may or may not have threatened to "shave off your pretty little locks if you call me a cupcake again."
• Although, this rivalry soon turned into friendship when you realised your senses of humour were identical.
• When Remus is busy and can't hang out with you, Sirius will take you to hogsmeade or play a game of chess to pass the time.
• Funnily enough, Sirius became oddly protective of you, letting Remus know that if he ever hurt you he'd be dead.
• Remus was always calling you a cute name, despite the circumstance.
• His favourite things to call you were babe, sweetheart, love, and snickerdoodle.
• You just stuck with calling him Remy, Moony, or honey (he'd never admit it, but he loves when you call him 'honeybuns')
• Remus is smart, and so are you. But when you're together, you share half a braincell.
• He's literally such a dumbass.
• "Babe, do you think toads can sense fear?"
• Cue you looking into the camera like Jim in the office.
• Whenever somebody tries to make any comments about Remus being a werewolf you are the first person to defend him.
• Nobody was afraid of you lashing out because you're "just a harmless hufflepuff". Their opinions changed when you punched a Slytherin prefect in the face for calling Remus a monster.
• At night, you'll both sneak out of the common rooms and meet in the kitchens for midnight snacks.
• You making some tea, and him eating some chocolate while talking to the house elves.
• You were always the best in your year at herbology, Remus however didn't stand a chance. He wasn't terrible at it, but certainly needed your help during lessons.
• "Y/n...what in God's name is that!?"
"...babe that's a celery."
• The summer between fourth and fifth year, he had the worlds biggest growth spurt.
• He was a little bit taller than you before, but when you returned to school for fifth year, he towered over you like a half-giant.
• This means that you could steal his fuzzy jumpers with them falling down to your knees.
• Sleepovers at the gryffindor dorms were a common occasion, but sometimes Remus would come to your common room late at night to have a dance party.
• Quietly playing the mixtape he made for you while you both danced around the area.
• You both had your first kiss towards the middle of fifth year, almost a year and a half after you first started dating.
• Remus came top of the class on an important DADA test. When he told you, you instinctively kissed him.
• You pulled away almost straight after, apologising for not asking for consent. Before you could say another word, he pulled you closer to him and placed another kiss on your lips, running a hand through the back of you hair.
• When you broke apart, you rested your forehead in the crook of his neck as he whispered in your ear.
• "I love you, y/n."
"I love you more, Remus."
• He wasn't really a big fan of PDA, but would happily do whatever you wanted.
• When the marauders were planning a prank, Remus made sure you were as far away from the action as possible.
• "What if we get y/n to be the bait? She could get-"
"James, there is no way y/n is going to jump into the great lake with weights ties to her ankles."
• You both did it for the first time near Christmas of sixth year.
• Peter was long gone home. James and Sirius had both left that morning to go back to the Potter's, offering you both a place to stay for the holidays. However, you were both happy to get some alone time.
• In the evening, he lit candles in the dorm and did cute stuff like that.
• He was so so nervous, but was still a gentlemen through and through, always asking if you're comfortable and making sure what he's doing is okay.
• It was really sweet, and both of you were really happy afterwards.
• Sometimes you'd share a bath with him in the prefects bathroom. The rest of the marauders always joked about how there'd be a bit more than bathing involved, but they were wrong.
• When you would share a bath, Remus would bring a book and read to you, doing silly voices for each of the characters just to see you smile. Neither of you ever did the Devil's Tango in the prefects bath, as it was always just for a nice relax.
• Speaking of books, Remus was always reading one. Sometimes you'd cuddle up next to him while he read, and he'd quietly read each line.
• Sometimes you'd do the same, reciting small poems from muggle books.
• He never told you, but after you had your first kiss his boggart changed. It changed from the moon to himself as a werewolf, holding your dead body.
• Gruesome, he knew, but it was significant to him.
• Along with his boggart changing, your patronus changed. In your third year you learned how to conjure a patronus, and yours was a porcupine. Yet in your sixth year, you discovered it to be a werewolf.
• Remus full on cried happy tears when he found out.
• After the worst full moon yet, Remus ended up in the hospital wing for 5 days. He was found unconscious, and woke up 2 days later to see you and Madam Pomfrey by his side.
• You took notes for him in class, brought him a few new books and bars of chocolate, and spent every free moment in the hospital wing with him.
• He had three long slashes across his face when you found him in the shrieking shack, yet he looked so calmly asleep.
• "When you told me you wanted to start having lie-ins, I didn't think you'd sleep for two days straight."
• You were the first person he wanted to see after such a terrible night, and despite your jokes, he was so grateful to have you next to him.
• "I hope you're not going to break up with me now that I'm ugly."
"You? Ugly? How could you ever think such a thing?"
• On valentines day, he enlisted the help of the marauders to make things perfect.
• After a date at Madam Puddifoots, you returned to Remus's dorm to a beautiful view.
• Fairy lights were strung along the bed frames, rose petals in a trail along the floor, your favourite scented candles burning on the bedside tables, and a teddy bear bigger than your entire body sat on Remus's bed.
• Turning around to face your boyfriend, you saw that he held 3 boxes wrapped in red paper.
• "Happy valentines day, m'love"
• Placing the gifts on the bed closest to him, he picked you up and wrapped you in a bear hug.
• You crocheted him a jumper in his house colours and got him a leather bound copy of his favourite book.
• He made you a bar of chocolate with your favourite flavours, bought you a chunky cardigan that he knew you wanted, and placed a painted, small wooden box in your hands.
• "Open the box, love." He stated with a smile. He seemed a little nervous, but eased up as he saw you smile.
• Inside the box was two aeroplane tickets to Paris.
• "It's not much, but I was wondering if you'd come with me this summer?"
• This was followed by a lot of happy screams, to say the least.
• When quidditch season came around, you both loved to support the other's house.
• You'd sport Remus's red and yellow jumpers when gryffindor was playing, and he would go all out with yellow and black spirit when it was a hufflepuff match.
• However, when it was hufflepuff against gryffindor things got way too competitive.
• You didn't speak to Remus for a week after gryffindor won.
• "Come on babe, just talk to me! I didn't mean it when I said that hufflepuffs are as good at quidditch as they are at their owls!"
• Professor Mcgonagall didn't really know much about you, being from a different house and all, but she saw how much Remus changed being with you.
• He seemed really well taken care of, and for once he was unconditionally happy.
• After dinner one night, Mcgonagall asked to see you in her office.
• "I just wanted to say thank you for taking such good care of Mr Lupin. It may be unprofessional for me to see him as a son, but I do, and I'm grateful that he has someone like you to support him."
• From that moment forward, she saw you as a daughter, and invited you to have tea with her every week.
• You didn't know it, but every full moon she'd add 50 points to hufflepuff, she could never thank you enough for looking after Remus.
• After you both graduated, you almost immediately moved in with each other.
• With the help of James and Lily, you bought a small cottage a few hours away from hogwarts.
• Every other wednesday, Sirius and Lily come around for a girls night while Remus and James catch up.
• A few months after you moved in together, Remus realised what he wanted, and for once he wasn't afraid to ask for it.
• It was a beautiful Saturday evening, the sky was purple from the sunset. Both of you were sat on the porch swing in your back garden, surrounded by magical plants and flowers, when he got down on one knee.
• "Y/n y/l/n, I've loved you since the day we met. I couldn't wish for anyone better than you, and it would be my dream to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?"
